Terrible professor. Loved to reprimand class instead of actually teaching. Her lectures were vague, and her assignments are so insanely impossible even Einstein would fail her class. AVOID her class like a rabid chimpanzee.
Creates high anxiety in students. Not willing to listen to both side of the arguments. Quick temper.

She is an awful teacher! She gives you bad grades without justification. It is impossible to do well in her class. She is inconsiderate and dismisses class 5-10 minutes late every class meeting. She is way too critical for an elective class. Do not take her class, you will regret it tremendously.

I have read the reviews on the professor and I have had her before reading the reviews. If I would ve read the reviews before I probably would of choose her class. Now I got an A but she does grade really hard. I didnt like her but I have respect for her. that A i got was a miracle.
I dont think she is that bad but be prepare she goes fast I took her in the summer and got a B. Your speeches are video tape which is very nerves wracking, didnt do good on my speech. but did good on test and class assignment. She gives extra credit. Think her elective Writing was very hard.
At first I thought this class would be great. I love giving speeches. For the first few classes she seemed like a smart, easy going person. But that changed. She is incredibly hard to please and never clearly outlines what she wants. I got an A but would not reccomend her to anyone!
Professor Smith was great at first then after the deadline to drop it went to hell. SHe was arude and not helpful. she didnt care that i was viotlently ill so i could not make up a speech. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!
I took Dr. Smiths class during the summer. Expect to work hard. She expects nothing but the best from you as you should expect the same from yourself. I learned so much from her. Do all of your work show up for class, attempt all of your speeches and you are guaranteed a B. Work hard and you are rewarded well! It is hard work, but rewarding.
Professor Smith is a good teacher, but sometimes she may be unclear about certain things. She also does not really teach her class, she let's the book to that. Her class is easy though, if you cant handle a "working class" then Professor Smith's SPC 1600 and SPC 1024 is not for you.

Professor Smith was a though professor. The assignments were fairly easy. The toughest part of the class were the speeches. You have to strive in aquiring your facts and in perfecting the delivery of the speeches. If you do the following you should do fine. As a person, just remember that you are student and she is the teacher.

So far so good, the writing option seems a little confusing, but it's not too bad.
Dr. Smith is in my opinion, the best teacher I have. I enjoy the class because it envolves my major and she is not all that hard but you have to be interested and like others have said, willing to work. The only thing I dont like about her is that she sometimes puts people on the spot and i disagree with that. Other than that shes pretty ok.

DR Smith,She is not all that bad. If you are willing to work hard have the time to read the book listen to her and do what she wants she is lienent and can work with.If you want to become a good public speaker then take her class. Do not take it for a grade take it because you are willing to learn. I enjoyed her class,i had to bust my but and work.
She is a great teacher, Unfortunately, she's being slandered because people thought this was a laid back class. I have to admit, if your NOT willing to take the time to work hard then don't even think about taking her class because you'll just end up calling her all types of names.I can honestly say that you will learn how to become a GOOD speaker!
she is a great person and understanding to her students, if you play it cool, do your work have it on time she will help you. please read the book follow the outlines for speeches go to class participate she is a challege don't let her intimidate you she is there to help you will come out a great speaker don't take it for credit,take it to learn!
Don't take this class, you'll save yourself alot of unnecessary stress. She acts as if you don't have a life outside of the classroom, expecting you to always be able to speak to her during HER office hours.
This teacher is by far the worst teacher i have had in my life. she is inconsistint in grading and has different standards for different students. But if you love unorganization and someone who does not like to listen to anyone but the sound of their own voice, this is the class for you!! NOT! and again the worst teacher i have ever had.
i have enjoyed her class she will let you work or else don't take it you will learn something. don't listen to the negatives do what she say's read you book, continue to talk to her during the semester she likes that but overall she is a very good instructor who means well of her student.

Ms. Smith, is great as a person!She does demand a lot, and its easy but she gives a lot of homework!! But if you do everything she says, you will pass, but she gave me an incomplete because i missed 1 too many classes,but i did all of the work!!
She is helpful but strick. You will get a lot of homework which is kind of hard. However, if you come to class on time, finish all the homework, and ask her a lot during her office hours, you will at least get a C, no matter how bad your speech will be. Overall it's not good for a slacker to take her at all.
Very nice and well-mannered lady. She treats everyone with respect. She expects much of you but also understands that giving speeches isn't for everyone. Her work isn't hard at all. She gives worksheets for homework occassionally but they are never hard. It is merely a chance to get easy points.

She doesnt explain well, she has issues with her students, and she is very hard to please. you can give her 100 pounds of gold and she will still ask for more. i do not recommend her. i am expecting a C in this class.
At first I expected to get a "C" in this class at the most, it turns out, I got an "A" and she helped me to get there with some extra credit. This class I will not lie to you, is demanding, but if you complete your homework and present your speeches, you are guaranteed atleast a B. She is not a difficult person, she just wants you to do your work.

This speech class was very demanding. Ms. Smith expects you to do work, if u do, the ur on the right track, with work and dedication u are guaranteed atleast a B. This professor is scary, however if you work hard and you respect her, she will like you. I got an A in this class, and I deserved because I worked my butt off and I even failed my math class for this speech class. I'm just glad it's over. Just do the work, read the book, do your speeches, and you are fine!!
She doesnt explain anything. She expects you to read 12 chapters in one week and score high on the test. she is a waste of money.

Okay first read all the comments about this teacher because they are 100% TRUE! This is "a working class" its not hard but if you're taking more then 3 classes don't take her! She's a good teacher and you will learn a lot, but as far as fairness there is none. Turn in your packets ON TIME or else you're f*cked! Try to stay on her good side :)
This teacher is intolerable. There is absolutely no room for error with anything. She is stubborn and does not allow anything to be said to her. Do your speech packets if you are stuck here, otherwise, drop her class! Horrible teacher. Very unorganized and seems lost often
This class is not at all hard but the teacher makes it seem so. As long as you do all your speeches, you can pass. This is not a class for lazy people, so if you are always late to class and with assignments, DONT TAKE IT. She is a sweetheart, but u wont know until the END of the class. love yah prof. atleast i learnt something. u did ur job.
She has a very nice personality, but she is very tough. You have a lot to do and very important on time. She knows what she is doing, very professional, but for you, the student that taking more courses at the same time, it is very hard. I got A but I wouldn't recommendate her.

She is not the easy A we all want. I got an A but i had to do allll of the work. She says it from the beginning, "it is not a hard class, but it is a working class." She does not lie about that. My advice is to keep track of your points which will be hard considering its rare you get your grades back. Good luck and do the extra credit!! they help

Vague for no reason- Admits will never give full credit for ANY speech you give in her class- Nice before withdrawal date/Nasty after- never helpful- makes it seem like she WANTS you to fail- too much work for an elective(a research paper every 2 weeks w/ works cited and all)
This is definitely a class that you will have to work in. If you are a hard worker than this class is for you.Your grade won't be handed to you by any means. You earn evrey point you deserve and work for. She lays everything out on the table in the beginning.

Only the stronger ones will survive in her class. Just keep your emotions and ignore her careless attitude. I'm taking this class now and I have to say that it is a little hard. Smith thinks she teaches honor class, however she is not a bad teacher.If you do all assingments you should not have a problem getting A or B. its a LOT!! of reading but the material is helpful.Prof will pick on you if you are slacking off attendance counts!!
i loved the class..the teacher is a lil whack but it made the class a lil interesting..keep track of your points because it will screw you over at the end..other than that i loved the class!
She probably means good when she attempts to teach, but you'd never know. She says 15billion things at one time and expects you to get everything at once. & she doesn't entertain questions. She pretty much shushes you off. If I could give her a negative rating, it would be a -1,000,000,000.
Speaking as a Law student who has taken Dr. Smith in the past, Dr. Smith is just preparing you for the real world! Don't expect for Professors to hold your hand and feed you the answers as you go on to get your B.A. or higher. Trust me when i say, it won't happen! If you are a SLACKER, then this is not the class for you. Be prepared to learn alot!
If you notice, the people who are complainning about Dr. Smith either barely came to class, barely read the book, or barely followed her directions. If you do the above mentioned, you will be sure to earn an A. If you don't believe me, read the comments of those who had something good to say about her. It's all about putting in the effort!
I was afraid to take her because of the comments I was reading but I realized the people that failed were just lazy. It's simple, come to class AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, do all of the SUPER-EASY homework and don't miss a speech. Believe me, this class ain't rocket science. Just pick topics that you are interested in for speeches.
well i ended up getting a c, but if i took the class over i would probably get a b. shes very tuff on the 3 speaches you present. many people ended up withdrawing frin her class. she is very helpful if you go during her office hours. she seems unaproachable but is more then willing to help if its not during or after class. attendance matters!!

Easy workload and it may require a bit more attention than your other classes but considering the workload of most BC classes that isn't much. This teacher is a very nice woman but extremely unorganized so if you do expect to take this class and care about your grade make a copy of every assignment you do and be on top of your grade calculations.
This class may seem hard at first, but its really not. Just make sure to complete all assignments and prepare ahead for speeches. Don't make excuses for yourself! Just do the work. I passed her class with an A, and trust me I'm one of the most shy people ever! U can do it! Wonderful teacher...

She's never on time, she never lets you out on time, if you don't turn something in on the day it's due like if y7ou're absent or something you might as well drop the class because there's no way of turning it in or doing the speech because she won't let you. AVOID AT ALL COST.

I got an A in this class. But trust me it wasn't easy. You have to pay attention and do all assignements and save all handouts. The speeches were the hardest part. She does not expect you to be perfect, but she does however expect you to do what she asks and give it 100%. Positive attitude, perseverance and good work ethic is essential.

Mrs. Smith is the best professor for speech. She is very friendly and she makes her class very interesting and fun so that you can pick up the material very fast. I TOTALLY RECOMMEND her for this class; I started out being shy when presenting my speeches but in the end I became more confident. But to pass this class with an A you have to WORK!!!

Really nice, lets you turn in things late for full credit. Not to hard of a class, but she very picky on the speeches. Despite everyones opinion.. Mrs. Smith is actually a fine professor. Sure, she isn't as organized as you would wish but when it comes down to it, your grade is something you determine. You cant really hand in work late, but in reality, you're work should'nt be late in the first place. She's straight up with what she says, no games.
Dr. Smith just gets snappy from time to time. Because this class only has a few Major Speeches, students get the bulk of their grades with in class exercises and speech packets. Students must turn in assignments on time; however,she'll work with you. She asks you to document your excuse that way you'll run out of excuses. She can tame her attitude!

Talks to much. Almost everytime we had a test she talked a whole hour(not about the test...but about tardiness and paying attention) then gave us 15min for a 60 question test -_- Never taking her again..

Professor Smith is very animated and does make the class fun, but she expects waaaaaaayyy too much for her speeches. She allows make ups for her speeches and give tons of work you can make up. Very unorganized.
this teacher honestly wasnt that bad for me. the only reason i didnt get an A was because i missed a couple classes. Yes shes a bit unorganized so i recommend you keep your graded work and make sure it matches with her grade book. follow instructions and ask questions after class instead of the beginning or during and you will be fine.
Picking a class with Professor Smith was honestly the worse decision I made. DO NOT TAKE HER! She is extremely unorganized and takes way to long to give back your grades. WORST class I have ever taken. This professor is super unorganized (very messy office) and even lost one of my speech packets! She had me wait in her classroom for over 2 hours to speak to me about the speech she lost and the only thing she could say is that "it wasn't a strong speech anyway, probably wouldn't affect your grade". Also very moody!
Be very careful with choosing her. She is a very nice lady and says she expects you to make mistakes as a new speaker but when you actually present speeches , you are penalized for every mistake you make. Keep all of your points documented in the syllabus from Day 1 and read the book chapters very often to be succesful in her class.
I can Honestly say she was possibly the biggest headache I've had in Fall 2016 Semester. Very Unorganized individual. Always Ready to never take fault for her own actions. In 3 instances she's held me and other students back for more than two hours. So many students dropped her class early on that its kind of embarrassing.
She is very unclear about how she wants things done, but if it is not done right she won't accept it. She is also very messy and gave me a zero on an assignment that she lost. She does not listen to people's personal problems and insists that even if you're sick you need to go to class. If you are absent when the speech topic is due you can't do it
She's so confused in doing her work and loses your work and blames it on you. Really tough on grading and really picky on speeches.
Warning: Do NOT take her class. Doesn't slow down; quick paced. Doesn't care about your problems; won't give a chance to explain yourself. Miss a day of class? Get ur speech ready with what you have. Will make you speak even if you're not prepared. Then give you a low grade (zero) if it's not good. Doesn't explain herself fully. Picky with ur work
