Watch out. She comes across as easy, but a hard grader.
Very nice teacher, but she doesn't explain things too clearly and just let's you go on your own. She also makes herself seem easy but grades very hard.
Great Instructor. easy to talk to. If you have to take this class, take it with her. She makes a tuff class worth taking.
For being a "hard class", Snycerski couldn't have made it easier. Responded to emails ALL THE TIME, was VERY helpful, and nice (maybe cuz she's still kinda new). It was one of the easiest psych classes I've taken.
Supposed to be the hardest psych class to take, but it was by far the easiest. She is very helpful and over all an easy grader. Great to talk to, too. I got an A+ you can also :)
Very unclear. basically in this class you are on your own.
This class isn't easy. I recommend reading the book.
ONE OF THE BEST INSTRUCTORS I'VE HAD AT SJSU. GENUINELY EXCITED TO BE TEACHING THIS SUBJECT. LOTS OF REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE AND STORIES TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL. IN-CLASS FILMS AND POWERPOINT SLIDES. ORGANIZED AND WELL PREPARED FOR EACH LECTURE, AND SHE POSTS STUDY GUIDES ON WEBCT.
I anticipated this class to be super hard, but she made it really easy. Always there to help and easy to talk to. She made this class seem so much easier. Make sure to ask questions if you're not clear and keep up with all the work; don't leave it to the last minute.
I thought that for a "new teacher" she was very organized and knew what she was doing. Having a night class can be a pain but she kept it interesting and was very concious of the time and let us out early to do papers and such. Great teacher and very friendly.
Avoid this teacher!
Worked hard and got a B (only cuz I didn't score so high on the RRT and PPT). She's very helpful with the paper so ask questions and email her. Show up for class, she usually doesn't keep you til the end and you get like 3 weeks off to do the paper. GREAT TEACHER.
This teacher is young and fun and is VERy available for questions..psych 100w is SUPER hard but I got a B+ and worked my butt off...it seems like a lot of work but as long as you try, get your stuff in on time and do what you're supposed to, you'll do fine!
Some of my testes were confusing and hard at first but she did make it easier later on. She didn't grade too hard on the paper compare to another teacher i have. Make sure to take notes while she's talking and read the book. I like that she puts up the powerpoint notes on webct.
She was a very organized woman and she made things very easy and interesting. Some of the videos she showed were boring but then she realized how boring thery were and she gave who ever was there extra credit. She was funny too, and she told good stories which also went along with the lectures. YOU PRINT THE LECTURE NOTES offline which help's.
hard at first but better afterwards...dun take the one that is "concentrated"....mean once a week...it is boring.....get extra credits easily and not really a tough grader. I d recommend her
One of the worst teachers at SJSU. She does not care about the students... she has her own agenda. Very rude, and never responds to emails. DO NOT TAKE...
For my first writing class at SJSU (transfer), she made it great. I'm not fond of writing and the rumors of 100w being extremely hard, but it was generally fine. just make sure you read and follow her advice when writing.
Crams probably way too much into a once a week course. She's clear, and shows lots of videos and gives extra credit. Not an easy A, but hard work will pay off. :) And she's hot. Recommended for majors. Probably too much to absorb for non-majors.
Lot's of energy! Fun to listen to.
She's very clear, but speaks rather quickly, so you have to pay attention. You won't skim by by skipping classes. She does return emails, but not promptly-you're better off asking questions after class. She gives excellent writing advice and seemed to take an interest in my subject. I'll likely get an A, but it's not without effort.
She explained the material very clearly. I really enjoyed her class.
She speaks quickly sometimes, so you must pay attention. Straight forward lectures and very interesting. Tests aren't hard if you study for 2-3 days. Buy the print out power point notes, they help. Recommend buying the BOOK for ppl who do not write notes fast enough. Barely any homework, so don't sweat it.
awesome professor, definitely my favorite so far! she will do anything to help you and gives plenty of extra credit... there are 5 tests and a comprehensive final but you can use notes for the final... definitely recommended!!
She is one of the best professors I have had at SJSU. The class is challenging. I took it in the summer which made it that much more challenging. You WILL learn in this class. The rules of APA are tedious and meticulous, but you will know them inside and out by the end of the course. I highly recommend her. Very helpful. She wants you to succeed.
Study the review tests! Interesting but you better study for each test or you can expect a poor grade. Not much work to help your grade, only tests and a paper.
The class is pretty easy. There's a bit of writing in the beginning of the semester, but once you're done with the literature review draft (about two-thirds into the semester), you're pretty much coasting through until the end. The APA tests are easy as they're open book. An A is easy if you're at least a decent writer. Useful class.
Although this class is quite easy, if your looking for a professor that's exciting and won't make you fall asleep, then don't take it. Despite her weird coughs every two seconds, the exams and paper are easy if you attend the lectures and do a studyguide. Other than that, she's really boring and people will stop attending class really soon.
I recommend this teacher to anybody who is willing to work hard. She mainly uses PowerPoints for her lectures, which can become boring. However, if you pay attention, you'll do fine on the exams. She's very helpful, so take advantage of that. The only thing I didn't like about her was that she takes so long to post up PowerPoints.
She was my favorite teacher this semester. She's smart, funny, fast, and very organized and uses blackboard well. Lectures are PP, but gives good examples and tells funny stories. If you go to class and care about it, you will do fine. Only con: 90% of the time (at least) she didn't have PP slides posted by class, but she thinks she's not obligated
Very funny, engaging lecturer. Prior to this class, I wasn't all that excited about learning principles, but it turned out to be my favorite class last semester! Her passion regarding the subject matter got me more interested in the class. Downside: exams are hard. I'm an A student & felt confident coming out of the exams, but grades didn't reflect
Smart and demanding. Somehow helpful (while you can get her, took plenty of time off and slow to answer emails)exams not easy, seems more interested in doing research. offers some extra credit opportunities. advice: study hard and get outside help.
Nicest lady in the world. However, niceness does not equal good teaching skills. Her tests are extemely hard. The book is confusing. Lab times are often a waste of your time cause she doesn't even know what she is doing as far as SPSS goes. It seems she doesn't know what she expects from her papers. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Dr. Snycerski is a very good professor. She is knowledgeable, understanding, personable, and very organized. If you need to ask her something, always go to office hours instead of consorting to email, as she's open for hours often and doesn't always have the chance to check her email on time. She provides meaningful feedback and gives suggestions.
Great professor and very fair. Only a hundred points in her class, 15 points for each test. 15 for each paper. And the rest are given for minor assignments, which should be done as they help your grade. She offers extra credit points that can also boost your grade. She was awesome. =]
She was very effective; always graded our papers promptly, and responded to emails quickly. She was also very helpful and flexible, fair grader, and I learned a lot about APA style writing. I highly recommend her.
Dr. S is super nice...but she is a horrrible teacher. 2 papers, 3 tests + final. Sounds easy enough, but she did not guide us with the paper and her tests are CRAZY hard (esp. the FINAL = 75 questions worth 15pts). Extra credit on the tests was worth 1/2 point. I got an A in 100W, but am getting a D in this class. DO NOT TAKE HER.
This teacher is nice, but she is a hard grader. If you are expecting to learn and pass this class don't take it with her. The exams are very difficult, and the finals are crucial.
Shes a great person and very smart about the subject however one thing that went wrong was having around 45% of the class during the last week of class that made my grade go from an A to a B =(( exam 3 should have been before thanksgiving
Class is very intense, so it's important to stay on top of things. Her instructions are not always clear. Not very helpful with research resources (looking for articles), so hopefully you know that from other classes. Not recommended.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! She is really smart and has done a lot of research but does not know how to be helpful and clear with directions. She moves at a very fast pace like most 100W courses but she is not helpful at all. She expects you to know things, does not like emails about assignments w/in 24-28 hr period of due date???
Please ignore the negative comments and ratings about Dr. S. It always seems to me that people are more willing to complain than to praise. Dr. S. is a very nice person who cares a great deal about what she teaches. I found her very approachable and helpful. Class is not always easy, but I guarantee you a grade representative of your effort.
The class moves at a quick pace but that is not her choice, the department decides the curriculum for 100W and 120. Anyways, she will always help you with anything you need, just go talk to her. Good teacher.
Very smart lady but be prepared when you go to her class because she goes really fast! Her tests are very hard and she's not very personable. Doesn't respond to emails, hard to get to in office hours, and definitely won't remember your name. As long as you can handle that stuff she's an overall good teacher, just be prepared to study!
She's super nice and very interesting. She is very clear when she reviews your paper. Unfortunately she is hard to get ahold of but she is very helpful when you can snag a bit of her time.
I took this class during Winter Session and I found it quite easy. Yes, the class was fast paced, but she didn't pay much attention to the papers, and it seemed that we received credit only for doing the assignment. She seems like a nice person. Moreover, she knows her stuff. I would recommend her.
Spring 2010 Psy 100W. She is very approachable and gives helpful feedback. For being a 100W class it was manageable due to her scheduling of assignments. She shows great interest in this class and knows her stuff. She has extensive background on research. Highly recommend!
Psych100W is very difficult, this professor knows that and turns the lectures and material into step by step assignments that gradually lead us where we need to be. Her attitude helps you feel not as stressed and scared of it. she knows its a hard scary class, she makes it relaxing. This is for the summer, must be more relaxing during regular term.
Dr. Snycerski was great! She is very patient and answered every question even if they were repetative. She prepared me very well for my future classes.
I am here to tell facts more than opinion. Fact is the course itself and the subject matter is very difficult. The course is not fun. You must read the manual it is your friend come test time. Its a workshop so its not lecture based so don't expect that. Now for my opinion she seemed to be very helpful when I asked for it and is very friendly too.
I agree with the comment below mine. She is extremely helpful during office hours. She is also very understanding about those with anxiety so if you have that issues with speeches to she is for you. Yes when she does lecture she does talk too fast sometimes so be prepared.
This class was really intersting, but the teacher was usually always late, and the tests were not spaced out well. The lectures are all powerpoint and usually consist of 80-90 slides. This class taught me a lot, but if youre thinking of taking this class be ready to learn a lot and learn it quickly
power points are her life. Really interesting topics but be prepared to cover 80 slides per class. You learn A LOT!!! She is really nice but isn't really clear. She doesn't tell you what is on the tests and if she does say, it's usually not on there. Turn things in on time and go to every class.Do the work and STUDY and you can get a good grade!
power points are her life. be prepared to cover 80 slides every class. she is really nice but isn't really clear. tests are easy if you study. go to every class or you wont understand what she is talking about. if you turn in all the assignments (on time) and STUDY you can get a good grade.
i hate this teacher. i feel that she needs a huge personality change. im a good student but i feel that she cant teach at all. shes smart but cnt teach
I really enjoyed this class. She taught a ton in very little time and the tests are not overly difficult if you study her lectures. She is also really open minded about students sharing their drug experiences if it contributes to the class. Take this class!
i honest could not stand this teacher. i loved all my teachers but her. i classes were boring and not interesting. and its impossible to contact her through email. i passed with class easily but i dreaded her teaching style. she's extremely intelligent but cant teach students because she needs to be able to somewhat connect with the students.
prof. snycerski is nice and easy to get a hold of. she has a clear teaching style. she gives a lot of assignments but they are not that hard and she gives good feedback. would reccomend this teacher.
The class is a required course, and it is difficult, but if you put in the work (and are an average-to-good writer), she will help you all she can.
The class is hard, fast-paced and intensive, but if you listen to the professor, she'll tell you everything you need to know about this required subject. Tons of writing, but she breaks as much of it down for you as possible. She's very straightforward, but her fashion sense is fun and quirky, so it evens out.
can be hard, but very interesting and fun class , shes a nice teacher very good! and approachable. the only bad part was the required research hours -__-
Very intelligent professor, she has great knowledge in the field of drugs and human behavior. Her lectures include a lot more info than is found on the tests, and she sometimes can become very dry in her lectures. However, she is willing to give help and gives good feedback to students.
I have taken 100W, 126, and a MUSE class with her and hope to take 155 next sem. I LOVE her classes! You DO have to show up though, every time. Especially before Spring Break or Thanksgiving, when no one normally shows up. She'll give heavy weighted assignments. She is so intelligent and will answer any questions you have. Study a bit!
She's a very easy going, funny teacher. I love how she ties in her personal experiences with the info she teaches us because it helps me remember it. It's also on her tests. Her study guides are exactly what are on the test. If you go to her office hours she will try to summon a grade for you, other than that, she lags on updating the D2L grades.
She's very interested in teaching what she's teaching and it shows. Super nice and helpful. Her lectures are long, posts all notes on d2l but go to her lectures! Her examples are very helpful for exams. Barely uses the book even though she tells you to buy it. A bit slow on posting grades. Besides that, one of my all time favorite professors.
I have taken 100W and currently 126, with her. I LOVE her classes! You DO have to show up though, every time. Taking notes is very important.
Dr. Snycerski is pretty hardcore. One lecture and her intelligence will smack you in the face. I've got to say it though--I learned a LOT in this class. By the time you've made it past the first exam, you'll start nerding out exam things in everyday life that are relevant to class material.
She is very passionate about psychology. She makes an effort to ensure student success. She goes over material quickly but if you've read the book it's easy to keep up with and clarifies what info is important. If you haven't read the book, the lectures are posted online and she is willing to clarify and answer questions.
Overall good professor. Whole class is based on the one research paper, so she assigns a lot of little assignments so the final paper does not seem like two much work. Sometimes I felt like she was a little unorganized and I always had to clarify things with her. She changed due dates a lot! So make sure you show up to class to stay on track.
She is very passionate about the subject, very helpful, clear in her lectures, and provides the BEST study guides. Attend every class for pop quizzes, sign in sheets, and general extra credit opportunities (randomly throughout the semester), complete the study guide and use correct APA format for all of the papers then you'll get an B or higher.
Intelligent woman! Really cares about her subject and students. She makes every effort to ensure every student grasp the understanding of the material. I'm impressed with my APA writng ability, thanks to her! I wouldn't recommend taking her if your a slacker.
Her grading is a little hard, but overall she is an amazing teacher! She really cares about what she teaches, and I do end up learning a lot in her class. the class is not very interactive though, just notes from powerpoints.
She seems nice, but her teaching style is not effective. Exams Are very hard, because they are unpredictable. Gives Study guides, but they don't help enough. Her availability to students away from class is inconvenient. The book does not give enough examples to help understand concepts with real life situations, leaving you confused.
I learned alot, but it was not enough to pass the class. Study guides were not helpful. The exams and final were completely different from what was reviewed. This left me very angry and discouraged. This class was based heavily on 4 exams including the final and a self management project. ***THIS PROFESSOR IS NOT RECOMMENDED***
She knows her subject, but she cannot teach. She leaves out a lot of information on projects and you have to figure things out on your own. She will only communicate with you through office hours which are inconvenient or through CANVAS. She takes a long time to answer. The class: 50? exams and a project. Avoid taking this professor.
This professor runs this class as if she has a chip on her shoulder, and has her own agenda of some sort. There were no 10-page papers to write, but PPT lectures that were confusing. You would think that 3 exams and a final all 50 M/C questions and a self-management project would be no problem, wrong. Her exams are extremely hard. Not recommended.
Lectures are very boring and long. Tough grader. Tests are hard. Barely passed with a C. Would not recommend.
Learning from the online class was kinda easy but tedious. The videos can be entertaining. Take notes, you'll pass the quizzes (open note). Exams were not open note so study for them. Self-management project was the most stressful aspect of the class, but she does outline it. Ask questions, she or other students will provide answers pretty quickly.
Proff. Snycerski really knows her stuff. She definitely brings her experience when lecturing and I found her classes extremely interesting. I learned so much in this class she is one of my favorites. Her class is not easy but she is so great you are gonnna want to put in the extra work. If you are actually trying to learn something, TAKE HER!
I tok her online class my first semester, and it was pretty great. I've since taken a few other online courses, but I found that with the way her course is structured, I was able to retain a LOT more info from this class than others. Fairly straightforward class, and her study guides are very helpful. Wish more online courses were as structured!
If you pay attention, you will get an A. Don't complain if you miss classes and end up not getting a good grade. I would say she gives lots of chances to get a good grade. I got an A. I was involved in 2 labs, while managing my family (2 kids), taking 6,7 classes. There is no reason you should not do well in her class ;) She truly cares students :)
She knows her subject, but it doesn't mean she knows how to teach it. Her background is in research. I found the exams very hard, and because of that I made efforts to go to her office hours, but most of the time she was not there or she would leave during them. I talked with her about my issue, but she never helped me find a solution. I failed.
This Professor made me fall in love with learning all over again. She literally grades your assignments and leaves feedback. If she notices you struggling, She will reach out to you. She is a real gem! Exams are difficult to the point where you will cry lol but if you pay attention, ask questions, and ask help when needed you should do great!
You actually learn in this class! There is a lot of material to cover so of course not an easy A but Dr. Syncerski is awesome! She gives practice quizzes before exams that you work on in class with others w/ questions sometimes on exams themselves. You have one semester long behavior modification project broken into little parts, makes it easy!!
Her lectures are very informative and she knows her topic. Lectures can be alittle long, but follow what she say in class and slides and you will do fine. Attend class to do worksheets or quizzes, which will help prepare for exams. She leaves good feedback on assignments.
I was nervous at first to take Psyc 126, but she truly made the course enjoyable. She genuinely cares about feedback from students on how to improve her lectures and provides articles/sources she finds for students. I have never had a professor who cared about teaching as much as she does. Take her while you can!!!
I took Professor Snyserski for 155 . I had expectations of a chance that I could pass the class if I went to every class, if I was having a hard time with something I could make every effort to go to office hours and ask questions. I made every attempt to do these things, but its hard when she doesn't hold office hours or leaves very early.
she really does care about her students and how to improve her course for better. she gives great feedback and is super lenient if you come across any online difficulties. my only complain would be having to read a lot for the tests, but what class doesn't require reading anyways. overall, i would have her as a professor again.
Professor is very caring, considerate and passionate about the course. Class consisted of 12 easy quizzes, 2 papers and 4 exams. Uses respondus lockdown browser but not proctored.
Asynchronous. There were no Zoom meetings for the semester that I had with Dr. Snycerski. She gives good feedback on research papers (2 total) and those help you improve on future papers. All reading and midterms are on McGraw Hill. Overall, a very nice professor.
All of the quizzes and exams were from the textbook website, yet they were difficult, even with the book and notes. Horrible at communication. I definitely would not take her again.
The content covered was interesting and I learned a lot. However; the papers and readings were very time-consuming as were the lectures with perhaps too much information and not enough emphasis on what the key takeaways were. Exams also use lockdown browser(no video). Dr. Snycerski is very knowledgeable in the field and I did appreciate her passion
1 quiz (10 MCQs) per unit, 1 essay, 2 research papers, and 4 exams. Midterms and final were fairly easy (~50 MCQs, no essay Qs, lockdown browser w/o cam) and Dr. Snycerski responded quickly to my emails. I appreciate the feedback she left on my papers. Course material helped me understand stuff I was learning in another PSYC class. Take her!
