susan helps you out in every aspect of this course, she really cares. I do not like english or writing papers and she made this class fun. If you do all your work you will walk out of this class with an a or b but you will have great appreciation for lit
st.peters is the best!! i highly recomend her!! she has help me so much!! definatly take her class! now if she could only cure dislexia then she would be perfect! very cool!!! A+
I love her class, she is just so nice and fun!! Very helpfun and aways understanding!! Susan rocks
Class wasn't extremely easy, but I learned a lot! If you get an 'A' in the class you don't have to take the final!! Plus, the discussion in class is great... You won't fall asleep!
She is an outstanding teacher, she obviously loves literature and manages to instill this value into her students.
Great teacher and very understanding. A lot of reading in the beg. of the class, but if you stick with it the load becomes less and less. Best lit. teacher I have ever had. :D
Professor St. Peters was the best. In my papers I had a lot of trouble with grammer in my papers,so afterclass she would go over my papers. I started with C's and ended with A's. I cant wait to take her for English 1b
I love her class! She is very understanding and willing to help her students out! She makes it fun!
She is an awesome teacher. One of the only teachers that acutally cares about you and the class. Do you work and be active you will pass. It doesn't matter if your not that good at english because she will put her all in helping you. A REAL teacher, unlike Allen. And we all know Allen is HITLER!!!
A very kind teacher that cares how you do and is as giving on the grading as possible. Her kindness makes up for all the homework that she puts on her students...but it is a very interesting class.
I will never have another professor like her again. She's very very nice. And very caring. She grades fairly meaning, if I messed up on a test or paper, she'll let me know instead of passing me on kindness. She's the best teacher I've even had I think. Even my best HS teachers didn't have all of the great teaching qualities she have.
She is a wonderful teacher. Very passionate about teaching. The skills that I learned in her class has greatly helped me with my papers in my upper division writing requirement course at Cal State. Highly recommend.
I have taken 2 of her classes. SHE IS WONDERFUL! Take her if you can.
Hot instructor.
excellent professor who will go out of her way to help you and is an easy grader. plus if you get an A in her class you dont have to take the final. the workload will start off as a lot but will definetly ease up. believe me hang in there!
wonderful teacher, will go out of her way to help you with essays and understanding concepts. you do journals which can be consuming but you dont have alot of other homework or out of class assignments so that is nice.. I would take her all over if i could.. tests can be hard, study well
Amazing person! I wish she taught all my classes. She's funny, sweet and has such a positive outlook on life. You can learn so much from her!!!
Never even needed the textbook! She was really kind and would stay after if you had any questions. Relatively easy grader since it was a film studies class. Picked interesting films and had a nice set up for the way the class operated. I would highly recommend her.
St. Peters is a great teacher. Class can be a bit stressful in the beginning but definitely gets WAYeasier as you go. She gives out only 4 tests. She offers tons of extra credit along the semester & gives you a break if she feels like you are a good class. Only 2 out-of-class essays. Also, she is just a sweet person, which makes class enjoyable.
This is the best teacher ever in RCC. She is very helpful, great person , she explains really well. She likes to work her students but at the end it pays off well. Take her for all your english classes.
This class was really hard work, but it paid off in the end because I learned a lot. She is a great teacher, I would recommend for eng. 50 but be prepared to work hard. This teacher takes time to help her students learn everytihng they need to know to prepare them for the next class. She is funny and class was enjoyable.
very helpful and understanding. if you think your failing, stick it out and she'll pass you. just read the book for quizes and ASK FOR HELP IF NEEDED. overall GREAT TEACHER
Although I did very well in this class and she was very nice, I did not like this class at all. She is very flighty and sort of an airhead that's smart...I know, I didn't think that was possible. She knows her stuff but is too unorganized for me. If you can make it through that, you can ace the class.
Very helpful teacher. Tends to front-load the class with a LOT of reading at the start of the semester, but it lightens up and gets more fun as the class goes on.
She is really a great teacher. She doesn't expect every student to be the next Hemingway. Lotz of reading, and it hurts if you dont do it. If you have questions, ask or email. Really helpful and asking her lets her know you're trying which helps your grade. TONS OF EXTRA CREDIT so pay attention. It can boost you at least one grade level.
ESSAYS ESSAYS ESSAYS!!! take her if you wat to write better, she is a hard grader but everything helped in the long run. she is extremely helpful and nice as well as professional. do no take her if all you want is an A and to not do work, you will fail! hard work, but as i said, alot of information needed for English 1b. great english teacher.
She was helpfull and knew her stuff about screen writing.
I've never met someone who is as dedicated to her class and students as St. Peters is. She responds VERY quickly to emails (despite her busy schedule, she makes her students a priority) and will help you as much as she can. There were a lot of essays and reading to do early in the semester, but it isn't difficult as long as you do your work.
She is very dedicated to her students and offers a lot of help and good pointers when assigning anything... but if you are looking for a easy class then it is not hers. wrote tons of essays and expected to do mass out of class reader. but a great person and teacher.. left her class a better writer for sure
She's amazing. The first class I had in screenwriting, and now I've taken intro 3 times, and going on 3 for advanced. Always ready to help and criticize where she needs to. And gives straight and honest criticism. If you want to learn the art of screenwriting, her class is definitly the place to start.
had to take a couple days off for a death in the family and she threatened to drop me and had no empathy for what i was going through.
teacher humiliated me infront the the class. and told me infront of the whole class that i missed to many classes and that i had to leave.
One of the best teachers at RCC! She lays out your assignments and is very clear on what is expected! If every teacher was like her, I would never fail a class. Class is challenging and requires A LOT of reading, but as long as you do the assignments, she is very fair.
If you do not show up, she WILL drop you. Don't think you can attend once a week, she'll notice. It's in her syllabus. I have nothing bad to say about this woman, she was very heartfelt and genuinely cared about our class. 3 papers the whole semester. There are journals based on reading, SO READ! Procrastination will kill you in this class, trust.
Great professor
She is a really nice person and a good teacher. I enjoyed her class but do not take her for 1B if you have an otherwise difficult schedule. The workload borders on the absurd. It also does not taper off toward the end as she claims. All that said, she does go out of her way to be helpful and available. I'd recommend her if you have the time.
The best English teacher <3 Extremely helpful and very caring. I've learned a lot and it was fun.
Man oh man, is she great and beautiful lady at that.
Prof. St. Peters is AWESOME!!! She is the sweetest and most helpful teacher i have had at RCC. All you have to do is pay attention to her lectures and read! It is a heavy load, but definitely manageable so dont be scared. She is a extremely wise and knows a lot about life. Love her!
Approx. 35 one page journals. / 2 six page papers. / Almost 100 short stories/poems to read. / HUGE WORKLOAD. However, AMAZING teacher. If you want to better yourself and get some knowledge, do it. Take her. Don't worry about the workload, it's spread out throughout 16 weeks, and becomes manageable.
She's a beautiful woman. But she seems not to be much friendly. If you wanna tell her about your problem in class, I highly recommend you to give up and not to do that. Because she will never respond that kind of email. :( Huge workload. If you wanna challenge, take her class. And remember to do all the journals, they will save you :)
I LOVE HER! I am not really good at writing but she's very willing to help you with the essays. I got an A in class. :) She is one of the best English teachers Ive had. She is very approachable. She always gives reminders. She made it easy for me to get a high grade in her class.
Prof. St. Peters is a great professor. She does everything within her power to help besides do the work for you. The workload is tough, but as long as you are dedicated and power through it you will do well. She also gives a bunch of extra credit, don't pass it up!
Great teacher! Learned a lot from her. Classwork and Homework/essays werent that hard. Do the work and get an A simple as that. She goes over most of what is on the tests. take notes on the authors and little things she says about them, thats on the tests! and Pull an A so you dont have to take the final :) Super sweet lady!
She is seriously one of the best teachers at RCC. She is interesting, motivating, and overall just an awesome professor. Her class isn't hard if u put in the time to read and study terms. If ur thinking about taking English 1b seriously think about taking it with her. It's a blast!
There is no way to take her class with any other class. Soo many papers(3 5 pages+) and journals(over 50 1 page each)Her tests dont consist with the work. I wouldnt recommend taking her unless its your only class.
St. Peters tends to just go on tangents and doesn't really teach the subject. The only way to learn anything is to learn it yourself.
People talk shiz cause they didn't work hard. ITS A SOPHOMORE LEVEL ENGLISH CLASS. In a english 1B class you are required to write 10,000 words for the semester. You do 2 out of class essays that are not too hard and about 50 journal entries that are SUPER EASY. the tests are easy too but expect alot of in class essays. she is SUPER organized
Great Professor with a lot of dedication to her students. You have to read and work hard but in the end she rewards you if you step up to the challenge. Definitely one of the better English professors I've had at RCC.
Great teacher. work wasnt too hard. I dont even think we did any reading? But get an A in the class and you dont have to take the final :D def not a hard class at all, and she is completely willing to help you out!
take her class! she is a great professor and very interested in helping students.I hate english and did well in her class.has a great ability to keep the subject matter interesting and bring insights into the literature that may have been overlooked upon the initial reading.
Awesome professor! Not a fan of English classes, but Id recommend her. Shes one of the best here at RCC. She is super organised and ALWAYS comes prepared to teach. Gives out a detailed syllabus so you know how every min will be spent in class. NO SURPRISES! It is a lot of reading tho, but then again that's what I expected from 1b.
I've never had a teacher who worked so hard for her students. During the semester her many duties at the school would come up in class. She keeps busy. St Peters was very nice, works in the industry, and has what felt like an endless bank of knowledge to help you. And she took time to buy and wrap some awards for the final day. Take her class.
Be prepared for a heavy work load, but then again, what else would you expect from a 1B class? She is super helpful and enthusiastic. Was never bored. Gives you a lot of material to help you understand. Super funny. I enjoyed going to class. HIGHLY recommend!
Expect a ton of work on the first week you come. Her syllabus alone shows you that your future in the class will be hard. Look for someone else besides st. Peters
Very fun professor. Had a blast in the class and feel like I learned a lot about screenwriting. She was very knowledgeable in the subject matter and gave us many examples to work off of.
Professor St. Peters is amazing! She works very hard for her students and expects the same in return. You will pass if you do the work and try hard. Make sure you do all the reading and pay attention in class. She made the class very fun! I highly recommend her :)
She is the best professor you can take. She has the best attitude and explains everything so well. And if you stay on top of your readings and do your by you'll do great. She makes the time your in her class fun and there is never a dull moment . I highly recommend her class. She's passionate about her students and funny. I loved her class. :)
was taking 4 classes had 2 drop this 1, TOO much Work! SO much reading. Eng 1a was way easier. Shes funny but picky abt somethings & makes u work hard for extra credit. 3 in class essays, 2 out class essays, quizzes, journals, dla's, novel reading. Have 2 memorize authors names and titles of all the stories u read 4 the exams ugh! Find sum1 else...
Professor St. Peters was honestly a great professor. I took her thinking it would be easy, but it wasn't. However, i put forth a lot of effort and she helped me out midway through the semester and i ended off with an A. Work hard and this will be you.
She is awesome!!! One of the best English professor I've taken so far. Her class is not easy but if you work hard, she'll definitely help you pass the class! Lots of reading and works but really, that's english 1B. Take her and you'll learn a lot! You don't have to take the final if you get an A before finals. I don't.
Professor St. Peters is my favorite professor. She is very helpful and nice. There is a lot of reading for her 1B class, but she also gives a lot of extra credit questions on her tests. I had a C at the beginning, but I got an A by the end. Definitely take one of her classes if you get the chance.
dont…do…it
This teacher wastes a LOT of paper. For every assignment there are 6-8 pages written in Word print them out, then you turn it in to TurItIn and print out those 7-9 pages , then print out all sources. On top of that there is a 25 page syllabus, and Tons of handouts printed. Good class, hard test, lots of writing. I'm an A student, B- in her class
She is a very nice and helpful instructor, though she tends to go off on tangents sometimes while lecturing. Almost everything you learn is in the books, so for God's sake, don't skip the reading! You also have to write 3 essays, so bring your A-game because she's picky, but gives good feedback. Just study your heart out and don't miss class.
Professor St. Peters is very helpful. Ask her and she will help you get an A in her class. Do the reading , there are pop quizzes. Offers a lot of extra credit which can boost your grade tremendously. She pushes you to your limit. Just stay ahead of the readings, do the study guides and you'll be fine. I did not have to take the final. Whoo!
This is a hard class. Not so much when it comes to the tests or essays as she gives you pretty much everything you need to pass them with her reading guides as long as you use them to study. It's just a lot of reading, your going to read several books of mythology during the semester, so take if your willing to put in the time. It's time consuming.
Susan is a great instructor. She gives great feedback and encouragement on your work. She's also extremely generous when it comes to her students. On the last day of school she must have spent well over $100 of her own money buying food and prizes for the class. Take her class if you want to learn about screenwriting. It's a great experience.
Professor St. Peters really showed me what it means to work hard and also become a better writer. She really inspired me to work harder, I would definetly take her class again.
Ok here's the thing, if you hate English, if you're looking for a teacher who will just let you B.S your way through everything without really learning or doing anything don't take this class! BUT! If you are like me and love English and actually care about learning than this teacher is amazing for you. Its hard work but its good hard work.
A lot of work, but like she told us the first day of class : "I will challenge you to your limits; if you make through my course, you can transfer confident, for you'll then have what is expected from you at the university level." She is also really sweet!!!!
I was getting a high A in class and had 20 pages of my midterm complete (yes, 20 pages), but then I had an emergency and dropped because I couldn't get an extension and a failing grade would have sunk me for the class. Lots of busy work. Took the class again with a different prof, much better experience.
St. Peters was an absolute pleasure to have. Do not underestimate this class. It is unkind, it will make you bite the pillow. Yeah, there is a lot of reading, but this class has exposed me to some of the greatest stuff I've ever read. If you work hard for that A, she'll give it to you. St. Peters is also very sweet and a brilliant professor.
She is very nice and gives a lot of extra credit, just make sure you actually read unlike me.
I loved prof St. Peters, just make sure you stay organized. If you keep up with all of the readings, and study for the tests you'll be in good shape. I unfortunately got ill and fell behind in my work, which dropped my grade from an A to a C, and she did not allow me to make up an exam, which was a bummer so I had to drop. But i did learn a lot.
Professor St. Peters is an amazing professor. She enjoys the subject and makes one also develop an interest for literature. I'm not going to lie but her class was tough. She makes you work for the grade. She also assigns lots of writing assignments. If you are looking to improve both your reading and writing skills, definitely take her.
TONS of extra credit. An absolutely lovely person in general and very passionate. There is a lot of homework but it was all pretty easy, along with the tests. Very awesome stipulation that if you have an A at the end of the class, you get to skip the final exam.
It was a tough class but I loved it. You have to read everything assigned in order to do good on the class. A lot of writing but it's expected, it's Englih 1B. She gives a lot of extra credit. If you have an A by the end of the class, you'll be excused from the final, which is awesome.
Out of the 2 years of non stop classes and professors, Professor St. Peters is honestly one of my favorites. Yes there are many readings, 4 journals, many quizzes, 4 exams (with essays). But when you finish her class you truly leave with a new love for literature. Her lectures were informing, she shares funny stories and cares for her students.
Prof. St. Peters is the nicest!! Her class is always fun. There's a lot of readings required but I enjoy them because I love poetry. She also gives extra credits in her quizzes and if you watch a play I believe. Throughout the semester, we mostly just interpret poetries and watch plays and write commentaries - I absolutely LOOOVE this class lots!!
a really though class.
St. Peters is a though teacher. Her class entails a lot of reading, some much home work 4 exams with essay and quiz's that are not hard but a lot.
St. Peters is honestly the best! If you are up for a challenge and love reading and writing then take her! Make sure you read! Make sure you care and so will she! When I stopped looking at how much work there was and instead enjoyed the class it was so amazing! I fell in love with literature and although it was a lot of work it was worth it!
Beware not to take this class if you are taking three, or at the most four other classes. Biggest mistake ever. Anyways, the only tough part about the class is the work load which is insane, and at times gets chaotic, but St. Peters as an instructor is what makes this class worth it, she's understanding, kind and able to work with you.
She is so caring and funny! Gives a good amount of extra credit on each test. For the tests MAKE FLASHCARDS! We are also assigned 2 out of class critical analysis essays, 5-7 pages each. The sweetest teacher. You get excused from the final if you end the class with an A! You gotta work for the A though. Also, frequent quizzes.
