Great teacher and believes in teaching the essentials and not boreing you with the crap you won't use. Funny stories actually make the information stick. Oh go to her before you have to hand in papers, improve your grade immensly.
She knows a whole bunch about Bio and is a fairly easy teacher. However you won’t be prepared for higher level classes because she is fairly lax about the depth of coverage of the material. She is a funny teacher too!
She did not explain things well. Average scores were in the C's and D's. Watch out for your spelling or she will make a lot of marks on your paper! Take her at your own risk.
She is very unclear and very unorganized. Doesn't explain things well, so you'll be forced to read your book a lot. When it comes to taxonomy, she calls herself and she is an absolute lumper.You shouldn't take her if you don't like stupid jokes, too.
Rambles on. Hard to pay attention to.

Dr.Stamler was a very good teacher,one of the best micro teachers @COD. You will learn alot of useful info that will help in any hlthcare field. Her stories will help retain info for tests;so pay attention in lecture!!!Don't be put off by essay ques.
She is a very nice person, but she fails to explain any of the concepts to us. She rambles about random stuff and then we are tested on things we've never learned.
I don't know why ppl are complaining...probably because they shouldn't be taking bio in the first place. Dr. stamler is an excellent teacher. There are no surprises on her tests and she offers plenty of extra credit on her exams. I would highly recommend her

Nice person. Lectures were not well planned out. Other than normal good study habits try to get ALOT of input on those darn papers. Without direct verbal input from her, you will see red all over them, and your grade will suffer.
Stamler is the worst teacher you can ever ever take for a biology class. i havent met any one as demotivating as her in years. she talks in a language of her own and converts the subject matter of biology into a whole bunch of nonsense which only she can understand. She has an Awful sense of humor!
Whatever you do, dont take a biology class with Stamler even if its the last one left. she will ruin your interest in the whole subject. i even considered changing my major a couple of times. In simple words, she is a "blabber of never ending nonsense!!!"
Professor Stamler is a good teacher. She is intelligent and does a great job with making her lectures interesting. She talks a lot, and gives a lot of stories but the material is always clear and her tests are right off of the quizes and review sheets. I highly recommend her for Biology.
I had her for Biology 102 and Microbiology 220. I think she is a wonderful and nice teacher. She rambles a bit, but she knows what she is talking about and will help you whenever. I recommend her for both calsses
Tends to wander and ramble. Confusing lectures. No form to her teaching. We switched books so even her notes are messed up. Didn't go with the book almost at all! In all honesty, there are better teachers out there!

Don't think she is a good teacher...expects a lot and doesn't explain things well. Don't ever expect to get out of her class early either.
absolutely nooooo organization w/ her lectures and does not write anything down to help you understand...for the most part the only way to learn is by reading your book and teaching yourself. also, her grading is subjective - hopefully she likes you! she is a nice person, just not a good teacher. DO NOT TAKE HER.
She is unorganized and her lectures are hard to follow. She gives a study guide, but doesn't lecture from it directly. Her tests seem to be right off the study guide, but you really have to understand it. She just sits and talks, never writes anything on the board. Her grading is extremely subjective- you have to write EXACTLY what she wants.
This woman is a crack pot. She is the most unorginized professor I have ever had the displeasure of having at COD. Her grading is unfair and her lectures are extremely useless. Take micro teacher Dr. Rundell is awsome. She totally rocks!
Stay away!!!!! from this teacher, she is extremely unorganized. just sit and talk fast as hell. she doesn't like to repeat thing. Not helpful at all. this class require studying everyday or you will get an "F" word of advise don'e take this Her.

DR.STAMLER IS GREAT. HER STORIES ARE AWESOME AND SHE IS A GREAT PERSON IN GENERAL. IF YOU PUT IN EFFORT AND TRY, YOU WILL RECIEVE A GOOD GRADE. IF YOU REALLY WANT TO LEARN, TAKE HER. BUT IF YOU PLAN ON SLACKING OFF, I WOULDN'T TAKE HER.
Her grading is too subjective. If she doesn't like you, she'll find a way to give you a bad grade. I wouldn't recommend her!
She cares about the lab part a lot. If she does not like your drawings in the lab journal she will give you C for that. I had high 90s on all 4 exams and ended up with B because she did not like my lab jornal.
She is a really nice teacher. Yes she cares about the lab but, its worth most of the points. Take her class and just study and you will do good

DONT TAKE HER. she goes off the subject to many times telling her little stories about nothing related to the class. i am still in this class and struggling an d biology is usually easy for me. she takes up most of the lab talking and then gives u a lot time to the lab and then talk more. If you need guidance from a teacher DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! She is a very nice lady, but you have to do all the learning yourself. Most of her lectures go off topic, nd we get way behind. She is ALWAYS late to lab and makes a 20minute lab take 3 hours. I was enrolled in this class and had to drop it!
She has a passion for the subject, however she does go on tangents, has a lack of organization. Is wishy washy with due dates and test times ( because she gets so far behind) and is not very captivating as a teacher. She usually tests based on what she talks about, which is good. but if you've learned to ignore her voice, ( like me) then tough..
Overall, the teaching quality of this profesor was very sufficient and challenging. Stamler was flexible with office hours, easy to communicate with, accesible through email and has a good sense of humor. This professor makes students think, and challenges them in this class. You work hard...you will thank the professor in the future.
Teacher wants for students to perform well in her class. She is very accesible during office hours and over email if you need help. YOU have to work in the lab and on the exams. YOU work for your grade, not the teacher. I think students complain b/c she makes you THINK and WORK...isn't that what learning is about?? You can't slack in her class.
Amazing teacher!! Very willing to help. If you're willing to do your part, she's more than willing to go the distance on her end. Very entertaining during lectures. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Thank you for being my guardian angel, Sue!!!
I would recommend this teacher to a biology lover and those who want to major in bio-related courses! She gives clear understanding and concept of the subject and is VERY CONVENIENT to approach in case you have questions or need any help through e-mail or directly contacting her!
The tests are hard but at least she is fair.The only problem I had was two papers.I revised them hundred times to get an "A".I like the way she teaches but you realy have to study.I recommend her to those who wants to learn something.

She is in fact a difficult teacher. If you are organized and dedicated to learning the content you will have no issues. Not recommended for those that are not planning on putting in effort while taking the class. Lectures can be recorded for student review. Definately use the time she gives you to write your lab reports because you need it.
don't take her class. she drags her lectures and talks about unrelated stuff. we never followed the syllabus and we were so behind. she is always late. during the break, most of the students leave because we usually don't learn anything from her lectures. however, listen to her when she gives away the questions for the essay questions on the test
if you come to class and take notes during lectures, you will pass. book is rarely used. labs are easy going, tests are easy but tricky/detailed when it comes to essays, but extra credit included. the teacher is nice and approachable if you seem interested in the class. she brings a lot of great knowledge and real-life examples to the class + point

Professor Stamler is an impossible teacher. Her lectures feel like torture, and the labs are even worse. She gets off track constantly, grades like you're in grad school, and never explains the assigments clearly. I would NEVER recommend her to anyone.
I wish I had dropped, but I decided to be stubborn and stick it out and this is going to positively murder my GPA. AVOID AVOID AVOID. no intro level class needs to be this hard.
She's not so bad. She can be a little monotonous but she tells funny stories, and though she sometimes goes off on tangents in class, if you go in for help she will give it to you. She gets that people take the class because it's required. I think she actually cares about her students and wants them to do well, which is rare and refreshing.

Her class was the worst class I've ever taken. She rambles through the whole lecture and even if the lab only takes an hour she'll lecture for the other hour and 50 minutes. SO BORING! Even if you study, her tests are impossible. She grades like it's a grad school class instead of an intro lvl course. She grades even harder on papers...AVOID!
One word AVOID, extremely impossible to pass this with even C. Test, Quizes, Labs are hard All in essay format. Lectures are boring and out of world. I would recommend to take different teacher but not her.
Best teacher that I had. Her knowledge is AMAZING.i loved her sense of humor. You need work VERY HARD IN THIS CLASS. It is not easy B.For C you will study a lot. If you need a credit for nursing and don't want work hard do not take her. If you want to learn a lot she is THE BEST!
One of the best teachers that I have ever had!I believe micro is a hard subject and if you just don't get it or don't have the background going into it, you will never understand it...SO WHY BLAME THE TEACHER????Dr.Stamler is extremely tough, because you need to understand microbes to be in a medical field!! Great teacher, material is difficult at first but she does explain it more clearly after she gives you the "idea" of it. This MAKES you think! She is very smart, doens't sugarcoat anything. You HAVE to try in this class! A good grade won't come easy. She is very helpful and does provide individual help- just ask, and you will do great :D
Mature students need only to apply. She is very knowledgeable about the subject and takes a common-sense approach. Listen to what she tells you in class. Her tests are 90%+ lecture. Will help you, if you ask for help. Don't try to pout your way into a better grade. She'll help you, no matter your current grade. She really wants all to succeed.
Okay I can understand what everyone is saying about her, but I disagree to the point of extremeness. She is nice and understanding. I find her lectures entertaining, and easy to follow. Her tests are never a surprise, but she does always give essay questions, and expects you to know your stuff. The essay questions are where everyone gets docked.

Very monotonous. Goes off in tangents. Talks on and on about absolutely nothing. Very, very boring. Uses a lot of sarcasm that are funny--once in a blue moon. You have to come to class because she gives out take-home quizzes.
I took her for Microbiology and I am writing this review to warn other students. DO NOT TAKE HER!! She is HORRIBLE! She goes off her study guides a lot but she is bias! I took an exam and got a 61 while my lab partner got a 98 (We had all the sam answers) Most of her test are essay. She babbles on a lot about herself and is NOT helpful.
Do not take this teacher! She is always late to class. I took the 3 hour summer school session and she rambled on for those 3 hours with random information. The time spent on the topics we were studying was probably limited to 20 minutes. She grades essays looking for specific details that the question doesnt ask for so beware or dont take the clas
I dreaded taking microbio 1. bc I hate bio courses and usually find them incomprehensible, and 2. bc I took this class during the summer. This was an accelerated 8 week course rather than the 16. Ms. Stamler's jokes may have been cheesy, but she made the class (4 hrs a day 3 days a week) go by very quickly and gave us detailed info on test material
I took this course during the summer and I had no life. It is a lot of work and going to class is a must if you expect to pass. I did not like her teaching methods.I ended up using a tape recorder for the last few weeks, which SAVED me. I would not reccomend her, or to take this class as a summer course, or in general.

Dr. Stammler was one of the most helpful teachers I ever had. Yes, I admit the material is somewhat hard if you aren't all to familiar with Bio, but this is college. You better get used to studying if you want to do well in it. Her lectures are clear and to the point, IF YOU LISTEN. She is also super friendly and I would recommend her to anyone.

She is a brilliant person. She gets off topic during lecture often. One time we didn't get started on the lecture untill we had 5 minutes left in class (no joke). Lab reports and her grading in general is TOUGH. Not very flexible. No grading curve. I wouldn't take her because it would be too hard. I'm going to end up retaking the class.
She basically talked and talked it was hard to keep up with what she was saying Her labs were ridiculous, shes stingy on her points, NO curves! when u needed help shes never at her office,shes really slow, shell give you 5 minutes to do labs at the end of class.lets just put it this way, who gives a quiz right before an exam? Worst class ever! All quizzes and test are essay style, and honestly who can write essays about microbiology?! Very hard grader and will take off points for anything, and I mean ALOT of points taken off. My advice, find a different teacher or prepared to sit in a class with no direction and receive a horrible grade.

PLEASE reconsider. SHE says there are not tricks Q on her test, but there are. a lot of pts are essay style it, itz crazy. dnt believe me? then dnt. its ur money that will be wasted not mine.BEWARE not easy at all. she will take off points for anything just anything. there was a waiting list ppl were trying to get in but ended up with about 8 ppl
She is a bad teacher. My lab partner had similar answers to my lab exam and i got half the grade she did. she is not funny at all even though she thinks she is. I would NEVER RECOMMEND HER. Don't take her. Very difficult. Drags in lecture, boring. Goes off topic. VERY PICKY on lab reports. Tests are mostly essay and material on it is not covered in class although she swears it is. Even if you put in the time in this class, it still won't get you an A. Save time and money. Look for another teacher. Nice lady, TERRIBLE professor.
DO NOT take this teacher. Unfair grader. Complained about coming to class. If you tried to talk about a grade you received on something, she ALWAYS thought she was right, and didn't care what you thought. BEWARE!!!! she is a horrible teacher. she is always off topic on things she thinks is relavent. she has no clue and will waste your time. she will keep you the whole time and spend an hour and a half talking about something that could have taken 10 mins if she just got to the point. fills her time with chatter and sprinkles relavant info.

Worst teacher I have ever had. Completely ineffective. Rambles. Compared to a friend in another Bio section, we were more than 2 months behind where they were (not exaggerated). If you need this course and all other classes are filled, wait a semester for them to open up. Don't even take this class as a last resort; it will only hurt your grade.
She's one of the worst professors on the planet!! I took one of her classes last semester with perfect attendance and failed the course just like the rest of the 30 people in the class. She NEVER gets up, only when she passes out the exams. She's very unclear, unorganized, and indeterminate!! You will REGRET taking her course, we're warning you!
I honestly dont understand what all these bad ratings are about. I just took her this past summer and had a wonderful experience. She expected you to know the material, but was very helpful when you asked questions. She told a lot of stories that helped me understand the material better. I got over 100% in the class! Take her!!! she's great!
She was a great teacher. I had her this summer and was taking 2 other classes at the same time and still managed to get over 100% in her class. She was very helpful when you asked questions. I just took her 8 wk Micro. She does have random stories but she is fair up front on what she expects you to know & cuts out what is unnecessary. She focused on the core concepts and I know them well now. If you have trouble, approach her after class! She is very helpful in these situations & is a wealth of knowledge. Give her a shot.

I dont know what everyone is complaining about! She is very helpful! She let us send her our lap reports rough draft and would correct them before they were do. She would tell us exactly what she will be asking on the test. People who are complaining, are the ones who thought this will be an easy course. This is bio 1151 its not ment to be easy.
She is someone I would love to have lunch with - extremely intelligent person with awesome experience. She taught exactly what she said she would, but it wasn't the typical class set up I expected. I think she would be an outstanding masters level professor, but as a 1151 profesor, if this is your first time in college I wouldn't recommend her.
i meant to write this for sue last semester. i thought the class was hard when i took it, but when comparing science teachers sue is pretty great. answered all my questions, and helped me with lab essays she assigned. she proofread them and told me what corrections to make, and answered every email promptly. hard because it's bio not cuz of sue
gets side-tracked, rude, 95% of the time you're listening to her stupid stories that are irrelevant to the criteria and the other 5% you're "learning". I had no clarity what so ever and when I asked questions I got looked at as if I was inconveniencing her and an idiot. test are VERY hard and doesn't have what she covered in class
Usually starts class completely off topic, but then gets down to business. She's very knowledgeable on what she is teaching, however it is NOT an easy class..really need to study for tests. Labs were easy and she was very helpful with the lab reports. Overall, she's an okay teacher but probably not the best.
This professor is a nice woman, however if you at are at all easily confused. DO NOT take this class. She rants on about stuff and you have no idea what to take in. She is VERY smart and knows micro like the back of her hand. BE PREPARED and it can be passed no problem. READ the book - even though she will say you really dont need to.

We spent 2 1/2 weeks covering one chapter. Never met deadlines. Gets annoyed with questions. Spends 4 hours on lecture and 5 minutes on lab. Always got out late. Does not use book but you need it. A quiz was 4 questions for 35 points. 9 out of 25 people were left by midterms. She knows the subject very well but can't teach to save her career.
Dr. Stamler is quite knowledgeable when it come to biology, however, class lectures can oftentimes wander off topic! Sometimes her side stories having nothing to do with anything discussed in lecture wastes so much class time it is easy to fall asleep. Think before you ask her questions too. You will learn a lot but come expecting to work.
She's very nice but she's horrible in explaining things clearly. I didn't like her teaching style. Made it difficult to learn anything.
