Shes an over all good teacher but if you are taking 3 other 5 unit classes, I dont recommend because this class requires work on a day-to-day basis. Exams are a bit on the tricky side but good way to ensure that you've grasped the main concepts.

She was my first Professor in the US. I'm not good at listening comprehension. Even then, I was able to understand her explanation clearly. I still didn't get any Professor like her in the LAVC. I need to complete 3 more Math class. I always wish if she teaches those 3 classes.

She gives us a lot of homework, but if you attend the class every day and do all of the homework, it helps you a lot. She explains everything and writes on the board that you need to remember. I like her way to teach the math. I understand very clearly.

She gives hw for each section, what's hard abotu her is that she makes hard test. U better know your stuff or u will fail the test. She is much easier then johnson or Castillo but still challanging at the same time. At the end of semester about 11 students were left in class from over full class.That should give u example of how easy or hard she is

This is the 2nt time i take Ms. Vo. I took her 4 Math 215 & 225. Her lectures are very clear and she makes sure that everyone in class understands b4 she goes 2 the next lecture. Just make sure you do all the HW and know how to do the ex's she gives in class, and most likely u'll do very well. I also thougt stats would be hard but its not.

If you're like me and SUCK at math overall, this professor isn't for you. Great personality, but really hard. Let's you use certain amount of notes per tests, but still doesn't help at all.

Even though I got a D, it was because I was lazy and stupid. The teacher herself is very helpful and gives you millions of chances to succeed. If you are like me who doesnt study and slacks, then you will get the D. If the class is going poorly, she will provide curves and at times even take out poor tests.

Believe me when I say this class is NOT easy. She goes very fast and covers a lot. However, she gives you PLENTY of ways to overcome the odds and pass. If you truly want to pass you MUST be diciplined and actually do the work and study. Her h/w is done on-line (very time consuming) her tests are 20 questions, and she gives 3 tests and a final.

Miss Vo is an amazing teacher. Class is fun and easy to understand. She comes to class everyday with a positive attitude and smiles. Helps you to maintain all the concepts of Statistics without having to rip your hair out. Gives quizzes that can only improve your grade never worsen it. Test are not hard nor easy.

125 is 5 units & a butt-kicker! Recommend: light schedule, go to every class, do your homework immediately, take advantage of the TIPS sessions & math lab. If you work hard & know how to do the reviews, you will pass with flying colors. Final is similar to tests & reviews. Take Prof. Vo for lower math, because she will give you a strong foundation!

Very nice professor. Always asks if there are any questions before she moves on. Tests are all written. Textbook use is very high. Calculators are not allowed in the beginning of the semester for the easier sections. Show up for class, take notes and ask questions. Highly recommended professor.

Very fast paced class! Professor Vo breaks everything down for you. She will work with you if you need help. She really cares about her students that are there to learn. This was my 3rd time taking Math125, and thank god I took it the 3rd time with her. She does everything she cans to help you understand the material. She really cares about her students therefore she'll change some stuff so people have an opportunity to pass! 245 not so great with her. 3 tests and that's it, plus frustrating online hmwrk. She will help you as much as you ask and one on one is super nice and encouraging. I worked for my A. If you do well on the final she will replace your lowest grade on one of your 3 tests with the grade on the final. I had taken trig in high school and I understood very little. Her way of teaching worked for me because I understood every section.

I am no brain in math and I got a "B" in math 245.It was a lot of work but Her teaching is clear and straight forward and she gives extra credit quizzes. I don't usually rate professors, but I took her during Winter course. She was very helpful and she can tell if you're working hard. She always allows people to come up to her for help during our break or during her office hours. There's a lot of homework though to practice. She tries really hard to have everyone pass the class.

Great Professor, it was a stem class so it went kind of fast which was fine with me because she didn't waste time. A lot of extra credit and my math lab so you don't really need a book cause it's online. She explains things really well and makes sure you understand everything. She posts past tests before your test, which really help.

Professor Vo's mindset is beyond incredible. I appreciate how she teaches math as a LANGUAGE. If you do not UNDERSTAND how to maneuver from one type of problem to the next, and actually KNOW the word use, HOW to use it and WHY, that's where the real challenge comes into play. Legendary math professor, take her if you can. Tough grader, but she's not out to "get you" or lower your grade. Between the homework, practice tests from last semester, and extra-credit, you'd have to make a concerted effort to do badly in this class. Funny too, with her random personification of math . I took her Fall 2014 for the evening 260 class, and honestly, she's become my favorite teacher. Ever. Literally the best. I recommend her if you want to learn math. This is a hybrid class that I took. Homework is done on my math lab. She does give 12 credit on tests problems as well.

Took her for Math 115 in the Spring and 125 in the Summer. Definitely a good teacher to learn from. I've always been afraid of math, but she explains math concepts in a way that you will understand logically, and such. Be sure to ask a lot of related question because she will answer them. If you don't get it, she'll try to convince you.

Such a straight forward teacher and super helpful. All her lectures are really clear and the structure (if you follow it) will get you an A for sure. There is a good amount of notes from lecture to read from but all the more better since she cuts right to the point and saves you the trouble of reading a really confusing and overcomplicated textbook

Wow!!!! Professor doesn't beat around the bush. She tells you how it is but she also gives you all the tools to get there. Math is not a strong subject for me, but she made it relatable. In all honesty just put in the work on your own and ask her your questions. She is incredibly approachable and passionate about educating.

I only go a B because I was careless during the exams but she is great at grading and offers lots of extra credit and you don't even have to do any homework.

Took her during summer, there was 4 test and a final. She grades by points. There is no scantrons, everything is hand written. The hw is on mymathlab. She makes you EARN your grade, and she will tell you if you're messing up. Go to her office hrs if you do not understand anything, she will help you in any way she can. She also offers extra credit.

Amazing professor! You have four tests, homework and the final. Between your homework grade and the four tests, she drops your lowest score. The homework is all done online. You don't need the book but you do need the access code to do the homework. For the tests, study the worksheets. She gives a lot of extra credit worksheets. DO THEM. Take her!

I really learned from Ms. Vo. I struggle in math, and when I say struggle, I took math 115 six times and had to drop because I was unable to comprehend the material. Professor Vo's Business Calculus class was one of the most difficult classes I've ever taken. She is no joke, so do not expect an easy A. On the other side of things, she is extremely smart, *sharp*, hard working, and caring. I've never had a professor that works as hard as she does! Easy course if you attend class and do homework. Vo is available after class if you're unsure about the topics covered in her lecture. You can take pictures of the notes at the end of her lecture as well. She drops one exam and her exams are from study guides, and similar problems can be practiced from the homework. She's very knowledgable and sharp. This course was intense for me but she was very encouraging so it was worth it. She provides a lot of opportunities to make up for the bad tests, so go to workshops, do the online homework and follow the study guide. Also she's hilarious!

Shes a tough Professor but the most caring of all thus far! She helped me all the way, she sat with me gave me one on one support during my whole semester! No professor has ever been that dedicated ever! She helps everyone! You need help just ask! She definitely lubed my brain! Thanks professor!

Great professor. The people with negative review are probably people who didn't try at all. This is a class you will have to work to get an A but if you do work you will be rewarded in the end. Make sure you study all the study guides she gives you. Their are no trick and makes sure you do all the extra credit opportunity. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!

Professor Vo is amazing. She KNOWS the material and I have yet to see a student ask a question that she wasn't able to answer. She drops one test, and offers many opportunities to redeem yourself if you mess up. Makes herself available (office hours/email) more than any teacher should. TIP: redo the problems from her notes before doing your hw.

Even though ,my intuition is telling me I will not pass this class, she is a great professor. I am the worst student in the class and my first test was a disaster: 9% out of 100%, but it was my fault, if you are math major I highly recommend her. She teaches great and very caring, if you study in her class for sure you'll have a great success.

Very caring and inspirational professor. It was tough class but she helps me to be good in analyzing. Taking this Math 125 class with Susan Vo is a good foundation for all the students who needs to take Chemistry class since she teaches techniques that you may apply for Chemistry formula. Highly recommended! Efforts are fully paid :)

I took her acelarated class and her precalc class and i can hapily say i have never had a prosero as good as this one replaces lowest test score with hw . She often help you in ofice hour test based off lectures no surprises and offers extra creit cant get any better. M ath is hard so you will have to study but if you do u will be rewared.

Professor Vo is a great and caring professor. She knows how to teach and enjoys math. it is a very important trait in any math professor. She loves what she does and is accessible outside class hours. She is an inspiration to many students. I would recommend her to everybody and will definitely take her again!!

Professor Susan Vo is one of the best math professors I have taken. Her lectures are well organized, and will take the time to clarify any concepts the student is having difficulty with during her office hours. If you study, and do your homework you will pass. She does offer extra credit, so take advantage of that. Overall, excellent professor.

I took an accelerated class with Professor Vo during the spring of 2018. It was a lot of information but professor Vo managed to explain everything very clearly. I wish she taught more advanced math classes. I def recommend professor Vo. She inspired me to learn more math. I am very thankful.

Professor Vo is one of the best math professors to step foot in LAVC's doors. Although she may be a tough grader, deep down inside she cared for all her student's work ethic. I took her over the summer, so the class was accelerated. I enjoyed her lecture because she is very descriptive with the topics during lecture. Overall, I do recommend her.

Really enjoyed this course because of the concise lectures that we had. She provides a study guide prior to tests so you know exactly what you are being tested on. Truly recommend everyone to take her courses!

This class is the embodiment of "blood, sweat, and tears." You have to really work hard to earn your grade, there are no shortcuts. Do the homework assigned to you. If you are confused or lost, ask Prof. Vo right away. She is an excellent prof. I highly recommend her 11/10, but you will need to master every concept. Work hard and you will succeed!

Some people may be put off by Vo's strictness, but if you honestly focus and put in the effort, you will get a lot out of her class. She is more than happy to help outside of class. She gives you a very good idea of what is on each test, and the final is made up of questions from previous tests. Drops the lowest test, and gives some extra credit.

I recalled a trig identity incorrectly, but my method of solving the integral was correct. 0/10 points given. 2. (Summer) Sometimes rushes against time so self study is required.

I took professor Vo's Calc 2 course over the accelerated 5 week summer session B. She is really motivating and relates to students all the time. She gives study tips and exam tips. In other words, she puts herself in the students' position. She is a very tough grader. Exam questions come directly from homework or lecture. Highly recommend

AVOID! You couldnt ask her questions because she would snap back and say, thats a Math 125 question, you dont ask me that But I thought you were a teacher? Arent you supposed to help your students? Shes RUDE, a harsh grader. Shes someone who wants problems on exams solved the way she does them, or you wont get credit.

I read her reviews and didnt even want to go to her class. On the first day of class couldnt believe that the reviews I had read were about her.I kept thinking why so many people talk bad about her. Now I can surely say, she is the best math professor and the people who dont like her are the ones who dont study, then fail and blame others.

Professor Susan Vo is the best professor in the world. I took pre calculus with her and planning to take Calculus 1 too. She is the most carrying and sweetest professor I have ever met. Taker her if u are a student who likes to study because this professor is always there to help u out .

Prof. Vo makes calculus bearable. If you didn't understand her lecture, she always makes sure you get it if you go to her office hours. The final is worth 45% of the total grade, so you can always make your grade up if you didn't do well in previous exams. Webassign homework counts as one of the 4 exams, and she drops the lowest score you get.

All of her classes are hard classes, but she's a superb professor. She cares a lot about her students and makes sure that you have every opportunity to succeed. Don't be dissuaded by a few tough reviews, she's one of the best math teachers at Valley.

She cares a lot about attendance and will drop you if you don't come to class for 2 days in a row. Other than that, she made calc 1 pretty easy. She gives a lot of extra credit and she gives tests from older semesters as study guides, which are really helpful. The tests aren't hard either. Very good professor choice for any math class.

Great professor! Does't take bs from inconsiderate students which enhances the learning experience for everyone there to learn--RESPECT! Clear grading criteria, sets you up for success, funny, caring, gives good feedback. Anyone complaining about "too much work" has never taken a math class before - "Learn the rules, play the game". Class was synchronous so live lectures were everyday for an hr and ten min. Teaching is pretty good. disliked her writing, can be very sloppy at times. Exams were on canvas but through zoom lectures. Take advantage of extra credit, class is honestly difficult. would prefer cal 1 than cal 2.

Took her during online classes. I recommend attending all lectures and using old tests as advantage. Shes very specific in showing work. Youre given an online textbook but have to pay a fee. Definitely attend tutoring (if she offers it). Her handwriting can be messy at some times.

I took professor Vo during the summer for Calculus 2. I absolutely loved her. She provides very detailed notes and examples that are similar to the test problems. If I was able to take all of my upper division math classes with her I 100% would.

I took calc 2 with her over the summer. She was pretty strict with attendance and camera policy during Zoom exams and lectures. She is a very fair grader and fair teacher. Nothing she expected was unreasonable and everything on the exam was taught clearly in class.

I took her back in 2018 spring to this day I still have not come across a professor that teaches like Susan vo. I was in her calc 1&2 combo class and thanks to her I have a real strong foundation in my calculus even going into my engineering courses. She hard but you will learn calculus really well. STEM majors take this prof.

Best calc 2 teacher

She understands the topic well and does a great job of breaking things down to their fundamentals. Even if it's a basic algebra concept, she won't be lazy and will break down the basics for a few seconds if a student asks a questions. She also usually understands right away what you're trying to ask if you're having a hard time with phrasing.

She really makes you learn!! Prepares you for future courses. I feel like I know calc 2 more than calc 1. She takes her own time reviewing and helping you out before tests in/out of class. She can be negative and discouraging. Test questions are from lectures and homework. Drops lowest test score. Really enjoyed her class.

I have two withdraws in my college career and they both come from Professor Vo. She expects a lot out of her students and will assume your knowledge of previous courses to a T. I have nothing but good things to say about her, always open to help outside of class, very intelligent, and she will train you for future courses.

Let me just say professor Vo is the BEST professor not only in LAVC but in the whole world. She is the most caring professor who lectures you the material and requires you to do your part. Professor Vo is a really sweet & passionate Professor. This class was incredibly hard for some reason, not sure why the material wasn't sticking but Professor Vo explained it as much as you needed. She gives extra credit. Replaces one of your test scores with your hw score. I'm not good at math but I really loved having her, greatest explanations!!

I took Prof. Vo for a Math Lab class for Math 259. I was having trouble with my HW and she met me over Zoom (off-hours). Professor Vo made me start looking at math differently. She is passionate, & not your average math professor. Words can't explain how much I respect for her. Take her class if you want to be better in Calc. GREAT educator.

I always struggled in math, yet I took Professor Vo for Calc 1 and Calc 2 and got an A on both of them. Her teaching style is great and her exams are very fair. She will try her absolute best to make sure that you succeed. I have taken other math professors, yet I still believe Professor Vo is the best. Take her class, but put in the work.

Professor Vo is an amazing and passionate mathematics professor. She is always open to questions and constantly caters to the needs of her students. Participating will help you achieve your A, but just like any other class, you need to work for it. Her teaching style is engaging and the homework and exams are very straightforward.

I just finished her Calculus 1 course this summer which was a very intense 5 week course. Professor Vo's daily Zoom lectures were excellent. Her grading scale and expectations are clearly outlined and I believe her grading to be more than fair. I also appreciate that she is accessible after class and was extremely supportive of her students.

Gives 4 tests throughout the course and one final 15 questions. Each test is 10 questions and each is worth 10 points. For tests you are required to turn on your camera and show your surrounding area. For lectures if you have your camera on it is extra credit. She drops the lowest test score and the homework is on Mymathlab and due after each test.

I took her for honor credit (6 units) and all 5 tests are recorded PLUS average homework grade on MathLab. The lecture is straightforward and really fast. you're required to be on camera all the time (for extra credit - highly recommend). Grading is clear, most of the time you can predict what will be in the exams. Pay attention and ask questions!

Great professor, fast paced, straight forward, new material almost every lecture. Camera is mandatory for the tests and optional for extra credit. You need lots of blank paper for test and something to scan. (You most likely won't be able to use your phone as a camera. She puts the test on screen and it'll be hard to see.) She posts lecture notes.

Very tough class. If you can go to office hours (M&W 2:25 - 4:30), go! No formula sheets allowed on tests in Calc 1 & 2. Tests are very similar to lecture notes. Drops lowest score out of 3 tests and homework (final not included). Camera required for exams, optional during lectures for extra credit. Be willing to learn. Final is cumulative.

Cons: She has an attitude and snaps at students out of frustration, alot of drops throughout the course, strict grader, no formula sheets. Pros: Teaches the material well, gives you a week to do your homework, extra credit on homework, very accessible out of class, drops the lowest score out of your three tests and homework, uploads lectures.

She is the best math lecturer ive had and great at explaining concepts but make sure you have a good math foundation. Her online class was well taught but if you are not up to speed you will be left behind. Vo has HIGH expectations for her students, and wants them to understand the concepts. I was hesitant in taking her class but it turned out to be a fulfilling experience. Yes, the class was difficult but as long as u ask for help, u will pass. Her notes are amazing!! If u want to understand calculus take her, if u want an easy class then don't.

Very good at explaining. Gives a lot of bonuses. Always be present and on camera during the lectures and your test will be graded out of 90 instead of 100. Do the homework early - get a 10% bonus. Keep in mind that calculus is not an easy class. But she makes it so much easier for students, and she is always there if somebody needs help.

Professor Vo is by the book but fair. A lab is required with her class but it really helps because she goes into further detail. She also gives bonus points for doing the homework early and from lab assignments which help in the long run for exams. I'm doing better in calc 2 than I did in calc 1 because of her!

Ive had the privilege of taking Math 262 and 261 with Professor Vo. She is very clear cut on what she expects out of her students. You truly will only do as good as the effort you put into learning the material. This is not an easy pass course OBV. I took the 262/262L duo, I think the lab definitely helped overall. Passionate and understanding.
