My all time FAVORITE teacher at Douglas College. She's willing to HELP IF you go and ask n seek it! If not, why bother? Totally understand her viewpoint...so those who think she was not helpful WHY DIDN'T U ask for help when you need it?

Extremely helpful and willing to put her time in if you'll put yours in. Helped improved my essay writing dramatically and made learning about Canadian Lit (usually dry and boring in my mind) fun and interesting. Really into her literature.

One of my all time favorite profs at douggie daycare. willing to help anyone, anytime IF you yourself are willing to make the time to get help. Don't blame her if you decide not to go in for help... she can't babysit everyone!

I took two sequential courses with Susan; I found her very open and earnest about her subject. As a science student taking my required english courses, Susan really helped me enjoy my time writing essays.

Susan sparkles. She is one of the only instructors at Douglas that actually exudes fiery energy (to compliment her hair colour) and seems authentically passionate about literature. Taking Eng 101 with her made me excited to further a degree in English.

Susan's was my first English course I took during my first semester. She taught the class how to write an essay and yes she was a strict marker but she was excellent. I transfered to UBC and am now in graduate school, thanks in part to Susan.

For sure the best teacher at douglas. Though she is a hard marker she does however prep you for other english courses. she is totally down to earth and a great person to talk to. Would take her again in a heart beat.

Susan is awesmome! She is very smart and extremely helpful. She IS a hard marker, but she will gladly help you with any problems and wants you to succeed. She is really funny, too! I recommend this course for those who like writing and want to improve thier skills. Encourages critical thinking!

Amazing prof - extremely helpful and wants everyone to do well. She knows her stuff (she's a professional editor) and is quite thorough in her marking, but you can learn from her very easily. It also helps that she isn't intimidating like some of the other english profs - highly recommended.

Quit complaining! This is a college-level writing course. Stop writing like you're emailing a buddy and you'll receive a fair grade. If you were hand-held in high school, you'll get a wakeup call in this class. That said, Susan is passionate and enthusiastic about this course. Highly recommended!!!

A truley unique character. SO funny and adorible, will always have you laughing at her antics. I love her class. Shes a tuough marker but encourges you to think and come up with ideas to challenge her. Very enthusiastic abou her readings. Loves what she does.

She has such a passion for what she teaches and you can tell she wants her students to succeed. She really challanges your thinking and you must be willing to work hard to do well in the course. She gives you interesting material to work with, but be sure to come to class prepared.

Susan is an amazing instructor. I really enjoy her class, as well as her choice of literature. I normally find course required texts to be boring, but I enjoyed the majority of hers. She's not as difficult a marker as people lead on, she's just looking for real thoughts and ideas, she can tell the amount of work you have put in.

Warning-heavy writing course- similar to Engl1130. Susan is nice,VERY intelligent.Tough marker.Demands top quality work.This is not an instructor whose requirements you can take lightly.Very precise,perfectionist.Must attend class.Essays,tests hard.Not a course where you just review CN lit.Must write a lot,well.

Heavy work load. Do not take this course if you have any other demanding courses. She is a nice teacher, but expects too much. Unless 5 hours of English homework a week is something you enjoy don't take this class

Best teacher I've had at Douglas. I've learned more in her class than in Academic Writing. She expects your best and you get rewarded for your hard work. Learn from her notes and you'll improve. Not a slack class but she makes it up with her sense of humor. Nicest teacher in the world. Just do your homework, and LISTEN to instructions.

This was the hardest class I have taken at Douglas so far. You better be prepared for homework and harsh comments. Susan marks hard, but she does take the time to explain your mistakes. Come to every class, don't miss a single one. Read the text book and becareful taken her class because if you already struggle your hooped.

Sue's awesome.English isn't my best subject,and I was really worried going into the course,but she made the subject easier than I expected.You can go to her for feedback about your essay, and she'll basically write it for you. I got an A- bc of her help.This surprised me bc I usually get a C+ at best. Thanks Susan. See ya in the Fall.

Great Teacher!

Susan is the best teacher I have ever had!!! She loves Canadian Lit and makes everyone else love it as well. She makes every single student feel important and takes time for everyone. Her marking is hard, but it brings out the best writer in me. I feel like I want to do my best just to impress her! I would recommend any of her classes to anyone!!!

Susan is an amazing prof, completely inspiring, insightful and hilarious; a person to be in awe of. There's a lot of reading, but most of it is interesting. She is a hard marker, but very clear on what she wants, and is always willing to help if you ask. Maybe I should've asked for it. But anywho, I definitely recommend her!

Susan's an absolutly amazing teacher. She's fair and genuinly seems to care for her students. She's a hard marker, but if you need help, she's more than willing to give it (BE AS IN DEPTH AS YOU CAN!). Wonderful Canadian Literature course content - I enjoyed it thoroughly and learned a great deal in the process. The readings, all on current and relevant issues, were thought provoking. In-class and out- of-class support for the writing process was stellar. Susan's course has been a major stepping stone - I'd take another in a heartbeat!

Wasserman is a great teacher. She is enthusiastic and clearly loves the subject she teaches. She makes it easy to pay attention and gets the class involved. She goes the extra mile to help her students with their work. And she's FUNNY! She quickly turned into one of my favourite teachers. I wouldn't pick anyone else as my teacher if I had a choice.

You can immediately tell who's an English student and who's not by the comments. Susan is THE professor for you if you are interested in Literature. Her enthusiasm, insight, humor, and personality make the whole experience worthwhile. Of course, she's very bright and extremely willing to help at a moment's notice! I wish she taught more classes.
