Awesome class. You have to work hard and read the notes and text for the tests. She is a little weird, but thats what makes the class intersting. She uses a lot of her own life experiences in her teaching which makes the class so intersting. I would definitely take another class from her, i definitely recommend her.

Definatly would reccomend her class.Very friendly and helpful if you go to her with questions. She makes class fun and is always cheerful, sometimes she goes off on tangents of telling stories but they're funny (and usually dont last for more than 5 minutes) Exams are not bad at all, pretty easy 2 tell whats on the exam by the lectures. Susan is overall a good professor. She is great at responding to emails, and she provides a lot of lecture notes along with her lectures. There is a lot to go over, so manage your time well. There are two projects that require a lot of time, and effort. The take home component was also a lot of work. However, the class itself was interesting.

Susan Weir's PSYC101 is a fantastic class to take. Susan is a very knowledgeable professor, is interested in the well-being of her students, and has her online course set up very well. I would recommend this class to anyone looking for a psychology class!

Not bad, only problem was that the exam questions were super wordy and had more trick questions than what I feel would be appropriate for a university exam. Probably would have done a lot better if the exams were more clear and to the point.

I did not had good experience from taking her class. There was no zoom lectures, even though this class was suppose to be synchronous. So, the only way to reach her was through email to which she barely answered with little to no clarifications of her instructions. Definitely made me regret taking this class with her.

Susan provides lots of information, but can be passive-aggressive in emails. She does not clearly answer questions and the assignment instructions are vague. She answers emails quickly and gives lots of information to help understand concepts. Marking is tough, but fair and there is 2 papers to write.

I am sorry but Susan was a TERRIBLE PROF. I did not had good experience taking her class. There were NO zoom lectures, and the class was suppose to be synchronous. I sent multiple emails to her and she would COMPLETELY ignore them, and continue emailing the rest of the class. She would even get mad at us for emailing her and tell the class to stop!

Exams are straightforward. However, she gave inconsistent feedback on assigments and the major essay. Assigns 3 assignments per week, sometimes also 2-3 forums (post & respond type). Group assignments every two(ish) weeks. The courseload plus workload was intense. She's also very passive aggressive in her emails and doesn't answer questions well.

Written assignments every week as well as discussion forums in each unit, which made the workload very heavy. The class was terrible overall. Content all over the place due to there being no textbooks and little to no organization on UR courses for a completely online course. Slides with extremely long audio on them that actually said very little of substance. Worst paper I've had to write in my two years of University as well due to the vagueness of topic

Professor Weir is the worst professor I've ever had. Her only positive trait was she responded to emails quickly, but responses were unhelpful and passive-aggressive. Her instructions were vague and when you reach out, expect to be told over and over "Read the instructions". The class was also taught through PowerPoint slides with audio bubbles.

Don't listen to these people rating her, they're first-years or below 2.0 GPA students who expect everything to be given to them. She has two midterms and a final and in some classes a paper that you have the entire semester to write. Her class is not hard, and she tells you exactly what's on the tests. If you have any brain cells you get get a 90+

Idk why y'all are hating, her class was decent. She goes on tangents during lectures where she tells crazy stories but its interesting to hear tbh. The discussion forums and chapter summaries were easy imo. The final paper was cute you just write a 30 page paper about urself from all aspects of psychology . Midterm and final exam were fair.

I had Susan in the summer semester of this year and she was the best prof that I've ever had. She takes her experiences in life and uses them to help students understand the science that makes up psychology. She can be tough and not for everyone but she puts in the effort that all profs should do. She is kind, down-to-earth, and overall worth it.

Susan is funny and charismatic, so it's easy to pay attention. She recognized research methods are the most fun classes to teach, but she made it interesting in her own way. Considering this, UR Courses was a bit unorganized and she responds to emails but seems annoyed. Overall she is a great person, maybe not my favourite professor.

She's funny, charismatic, and an all over amazing person and prof. Lots and lots of readings but they were all mostly interesting and easy to read. The class discussions are required but pretty fun as long as you're semi comfortable talking to others. Pretty fun class over all. Wish I would've taken more classes from her when I had the chance.

There's a lot of in-depth thinking and applying to oneself in everyday life, and I think that's what makes her teaching style much different than others. There are a lot of articles and tests that require quite a bit of writing too. Easy essays if you enjoy self-reflections rather than researching (though, that is an eventual option as well).

Lectures often go off-topic from slides and spiral into personal anecdotes, which are either hilarious/good examples or a waste of money, depending on your perspective. Midterms are easy if you actually study, and discussion days are free marks if you show up and have read/typed a few sentences about the articles. You either love or hate this woman

I liked and respected Professor Weir until about a month or so into the course. I found her very rude and not at all understanding. While I did participate in class discussions, I did not enjoy them because I felt like she was judging me. Some jokes she made just did not hit well. Study for tests and you will do good. She grades hard on essays.

Didn't mind lectures when on topic, but goes on too many tangents. Hates authority and criticism. I attended every single day, studied hard for tests, still received low marks. Took over the summer, and was given 2 ten page papers due within days of each other. Made a few really insensitive comments towards suicide, especially for a psych class.

With gratitude, I am happy that I had anything to do with Dr Susan Weir. She is beyond a professor. She is more of an academic mum and counsellor and very humble. One good thing of Psychology is in its respect and dignity of an individual. Psychology is the most humble social science discipline.

I hope whoever fills Dr. Weir's shoes when she retires is ready to be as dedicated as she was throughout the semester. She shows her passion for educating students through various forms of media, such as raising awareness for NGOs that help empower Nepali women who have been discriminated against. Her approach to the psyc of women is unmatched.

Dr. Weir takes the concept of positive psyc & shows students how beneficial it is, even though it is seen as pseudoscience to some of the other profs/grad students in the department. She truly opened my eyes to this viewpoint & I thoroughly enjoyed learning about everything it entails. Her feedback on papers is tough but valuable. Take this class!

I wouldn't recommend Susan to anyone. She's incredibly biased and doesn't have respect for mental health. She makes a lot of negative comments. She bragged about how low the average was in the class before us, then told our class that she can tell we don't study. It's not for a lack of studying, it is the way the professor delivers the course.
