class is all lecture mostly. she tells you the terms that will be used on the test its your job to find them in the book or notes from lecture
She's a really good teacher. Just make sure you pay attention and actually take in what she's saying. Most, if not all, of the information will be on tests and quizzes.
Awesome class!
Love the class. Prof Williams is really good.
She really makes history fun to learn and is really helpful on stuff if you ever have questions. She gives you the exact information that will be on your tests or quizzes.
Interesting lectures, good sense of humor. For some reason she seems to enjoy giving tests that are mainly essay based...Could be because she wants to see what you've learned. Which is admiriable in an instructor, but still a pain.
All lecture. She tells you what will be on the test, but you have to be able to memorize ALOT of information, or you will not do good. I have no interest in the subject, and she did not make it any easier to enjoy.
Had her for an on-line class, but I met up with her to clarify a few things and she was great. Explains what she expects from us clearly and I really enjoyed taking the class on-line. You have to write a lot on the discussion board, and her tests and quizzes were all short answer and essay since it was on-line but it was a fairly easy class.
I really liked the prof and the class. Interesting and funny.
This is an amazing class and I think it should be required. Prof. Williams is tough but very professional and I'm glad she teaches this class. Take it!
Did not enjoy the class. Some of it was interesting, however, professor was not that helpful and seemed very cold toward students. I had an overall bad experience.
She's a great teacher. She's smart and funny and nice. I really enjoyed being in her class and I learned a lot. Tests are essay but just study and you'll be OK.
Professor Williams is a very bad professor. She does not explain instructions well and she does not make sure her standards are understandable. Many students had a very difficult time understanding her instructions. She does not care for her students and gives herself flexibility but fails to do that to her students. Very hypocritical.
Took her my first semester of College for HS 101 and 102. As a history major, I find her teaching style efficient. Read what she tells you to read and listen, and you will do fine. No surprises any where.
Awesome class last fall. She knows her stuff and is really funny and good natured.
Like another poster, I think this class should be a requirment. She's cool and funny, but fyi its not an easy A. Highly recommend.
Horrible teacher. If you don't like hisotry your gonna FAIL.I would never suggest her to anyone.
One of the best professors I have ever had. She's very well read and interesting to talk with.
She is a great teacher, very smart and funny. Keep up on the reading, she doesnt have you do homework so every test big or small is important.
Great Professor take any classes with her that you can.
Susan Williams is a prime example of the quality professors at GRCC. Prof Williams is very clear in what she wants from the class. Starts most classes with "any Questions?" She also puts idiots in their place when they make ignorant comments. Same token, encourages discussion. If you want to learn EE & Russian history, you can't find a better prof.
Terrible teacher that always talks about how she is an academic and better than other people. Boring power points and lecture every class with minimal student involvement. Find someone else to take history with as susan will kill your enthusiasm. I would tell anyone who cares about their grade to run!!!!!
She is a very difficult grader I mean she is hard when it comes to grading. She does explain things very good but if you do not keep up on the readings it will hurt you. No homework assignments so tests and quizzes are huge. U would defiantly take her again.
Let make this clear. This is not a class that will give u an easy A. If you don't love history I would skip it. That being said I have learned a lot in this class. She treats her students like college students, not high school students and expect your best. She is happy to answer questions and explain things further. Just make sure to take notes!!!
Had her for history of gender and sexuality, and it was one of the best classes I have ever taken at GRCC! She has a great sense of humor and I loved going to class to hear her talk, but it is a hard class and she does expect you to work. Know how to use in-text citations for her papers! She expects everything to be cited!
This was the best class I took at GRCC. She's really funny and fun to talk to. She doesn't put up with crap, and the class is hard, but I really learned a lot.
I loved the class I took with her. She's intelligent and clear and obviously loves her job - I could tell from the first day of class! I learned alot about Russia and East Europe. Keep up with the readings and start your papers asap! She actually extended the due date for us with both papers - but don't expect it!
Terrible teacher. I asked her for help on many occasions and she was very short and unconcerned. would never take her again. she made me uninterested in history when normally i love it. very boring lectures. doesnt incorporate anything besides pictures. very hard at grading. a classmate was marked down 15% on a paper for a word being spelled wrong
I loved this class. University-level, tough, but fun. She loves this subject and it shows.
This woman loves her job! She's a scholar and it shows. Our class grade was based on 4 huge papers and it was not easy. The class is very fun and she's an absolute riot!
Best class I've ever taken. It's not easy, and she grades the papers pretty hard, but if you pay attention in class and read the books it's possible to get an A. Office hours are helpful if you have trouble with the material/essays. She's incredibly knowledgeable and the books we read were really interesting.
I thought she was a great teacher, very informative and kept the lectures as interesting as history can be. She explains things clearly and seems interested to help students.
Really laid back. Grades fairly easy. Listen to the things she says, you can impress her by using that info on tests. She helped me when I asked for it so she probably will for you too. Be on time! Be at class, sometimes she gives extra credit for those who show when half the class doesn't. She loves discussions about the topics. Read the chapters!
Loved. This. Class. She is smart and funny. I learned a lot and really pushed myself to work hard like everyone did. She knows her stuff and seems to have a great time talking about it. I looked forward to going every week. Take it. Its hard but worth it.
She reminds me of Tina Fey. She's hilarious and knows her stuff. Awesome class, highly recommended, but a little difficult.
She is absolutely hilarious! Love this class and I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in history. The work load is hard, so you have to commit yourself to it, otherwise you'll find yourself falling behind.
Williams is a great lecturer, just has a hard time communicating what she is looking for in her papers. Also, your only grade in HS225 is for the 5 papers you write (7 pages each paper) and two mini reading quizzes. I ended up thoroughly enjoying this class, but good luck to all future students!
I thought this class was awesome. She's funny and knows her stuff. It's hard work, but I did really well. I learned a lot and it changed the way I think about life.
She is very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to lecture. I learned a lot! However, she is an extremely tough grader and the whole class grade basically is made up of 5 papers.
You know, she is really cool, and it kills me that she begged people to come to her office and ask questions, but there are people here talking about how hard the class was. Just saying- I bet they didn't. This was an great class and it was hard, but I learned a lot.
(online version of class). Took another HS class with her before. In a traditional class, I really liked her. Took this class, online. HATED IT! She also seems to grade much harder with the online class. Just something to consider.
Very interesting class and she makes it even more appealing. A lot of useful information given to students through lectures and articles.
Susan is great. Awesome lectures. She is very helpful at answering questions if you have them. She actually encourages it. She is tough though. If you want a grade, she will make you work for it. I'd recommend any of her classes. She's hilarious.
Extremely interesting class. She is obviously an intelligent person, but I don't think she is very nice person. There is a lot of sarcasm and snide used in her lectures, which can often be funny, but sometimes cruel. I would definitely recommend this course, but as an audit unless you are very dedicated and/or have a lot of time.
Second semester taking this course because she is unclear and makes everything difficult to understand. I am a straight A student. Also takes forevery to update grades so you know where you are at. Will criticize your work, but not help to fix.
Interesting class. The professor is funny and takes no crap. Don't ask stupid questions if you don't want to be teased. Take it!
I would not recommend taking any of her classes unless you are always on time. She only allows 2 absences before she starts lowering your grade, and even if you are 1 minute late she marks you late. I learned this the hard way. However, she knows her stuff and you will learn a lot in her class if you dare to take it.
The class is tough in summer because it is done in half the time but she helps me whenever I need it. Answers email quick.
Favorite professor at GRCC in the 2 years I've attended. She talks about history as if she was there. She was also my hardest professor though. You need to be determined if you take her classes. Over half the class dropped by the end of spring. She's hilarious but strict. SHOW UP ON TIME. She knows how to put you to work, but she opens your mind.
She treats people like grownups, not kids, which is nice for GRCC. really funny and will go out of her way to help you in office hours and email if you bother. Pay attention to the syllabus- you're not getting out of it. This class was awesome.
DO NOT TAKE ONLINE. this was the hardest 101 class i have ever taken. the amount of effort isnt worth it. organic chem is easier than this class, not even joking. yes, she is very intelligent, but expects way too much from a 101 class, period.
(Online class)The class is harder than it should be with her, and she grades very harsh. This is a 101 class, and she treats it like a 3000 level class at a four year university, I would not recommend her.
She was a very hard teacher. But I learned more from her class than any other class in the past. I hate History classes, but looked forward to her lectures. Again she is very hard, and can be a witch, but if you're not an ass she won't be either.
very hard class. A paper is due every week. She grades vary hard. 80% of the info in this class you will never need for the course.
her class is freshman level class and she teaches it like we are all historians. this is the hardest class I have ever taken and I'm a junior in college. she has weekly papers and if you don't put exactly what she likes, you fail. my class started out with 40 kids and ended up with 10. even kids I know that are history majors, failed.
She doesn't show samples of the writing she expects or use a rubric. It is all guesswork when it comes to those weekly papers--but 90% of your grade is based on writing! So, good luck with that when you have no idea what she expects. Also, she lectures the ENTIRE time instead of engaging students with small group work or in-class exercises.
As long as you keep up with the reading and pay attention the class is not that hard. I learned a lot.
Went out of her way to help me with work and studying. Gives guidelines for tests and papers- I don't know how you wouldn't know what to write about unless you didn't read them or ask for help. Good class.
Expect to work hard. Not an easy class. Prof. is clear on her expectations, which are high, as to be expected from a college course. Lots of reading and writing. Responds to emails/questions and is willing to help. Wants the class to succeed.
Her expectations are geared towards a fourth year major university and a student majoring in English. I am a lover of History, but her teaching style is a turn off. I would never recommend her to anyone. EVER!
When I started college, I was disappointed beause none of the classes were what I expected. This class blew my expectations away. Inspiring, hilarious, and life-changing. She expects a lot and people worked hard to do well and support each other and to make her proud- it was cool. Highly recommended.
She is a GREAT professor. She laughs at what she is saying because she has traveled to the places she talks about. She is very friendly and doesnt make you feel less of a person, just because you dont understand. Also, if you answer her questions in class, be sure to just SAY SOMETHING she likes that. Also, she only does 2 quizes per semester. :))
I would not recommend taking her on-line classes bc the book kind of sucks. Her lectures are very informative and give you a much better understanding than the book. As long as you really pay attention and take good notes, you will do fine. She's a very hard grader. She really puts great emphasis on the primary sources that she provides.
Her lectures are brilliant and exciting because of how she teaches. She could do the entire semester without slides if she had to, she is just that smart. Very open and willing to help with anything you struggle with. Cons: She grades hard. Like really hard. Incorrect citing? Automatic 0 hard. Assigns 100ish pages to readweek. Highly recommend her
She is incredibly intelligent- like, scary smart. And she's really funny, and that makes #1 not terrifying. The work is hard, and there is a lot of reading, but I look forward to the class each week. Slackers need not apply, which suits everyone else jsut fine.
Don't chose this teacher serious. The grades for the most part were the midterm and the final. For each exam, you are given 10 possible essay questions ahead of time and then she picks 23 that you must write about completely from memory. The other big part of this class is WRITING. It is a 600 word paper each week on "historic document analysis".
I took this class online and in a nutshell it was hell on earth. The amount of work is insurmountable quickly adding up to about 25 hours a week. If that wasn't exhausting enough the professor waits in the wings of discussion board to tear you to shreds if you should dare to breath an intelligent thought that actually belongs to you.
Professor Williams is a great professor, but she does grade very critically. Don't take her if you want an easy grade, she will make you work for it. There are only 2 tests, 3 quizzes and a research paper, so make sure you really do well on them or you will kill your grade. On the upside, she is an amazing lecturer, very captivating.
Amazing class. I am happy I took it. She is like a tough friend to students, lol.
The best class I ever took. She is extremely funny and seriously intelligent. She responds fast to emails and tries to help you. The class was on the plague in history and was full of historical sources and medical readings backed with theory. Her conversations and lectures made the class. Narwals! Unicorns!
She answers emails fast and takes the time to really answer your questions. Specific instructions and tries to help if you don't understand. I learned way more than I thought I would. She really focuses on analysis and questioning over just regurgitating the textbook.
She was really funny but also really smart. She always wants students to evalute the evidence instead of just telling us what happened. She was really helpful when I had some stuff go down. And she helped me to work on my paper. She seems toughbut is really nice if you ask for help.
I have never been into History courses. Prof Williams lectures every day, they can be long but she is so knowledgable and makes it entertaining. She made me laugh at least once every lecture and got me interested in History. Only 2 Exams, 3 pop quizzes, and a paper. You will have to work but she is willing to answer questions if you seek the help.
Prof. Williams is very passionate about history, which is a dull subject. With that being said, she makes learning the subject as interesting as possible. Three pop writing quizzes, one 1500 word paper over The Crusades, and two exams. One extra credit op. The paper is hard and in CHI style, do not wait to start. Get a full page of notes for final.
She was not an easy professor by any stretch. You have to pay attention and care about the class. I had her for an online class and in person during the same semester, and though the work was tough, I loved her! This was years ago, and I still think of her fondly- she's got lots of character and is an inspiring person. She's also hilarious.
She really knows her stuff and is very funny. She is always willing to help you, but only if you are willing to ask for it. There were 3 quizzes and 3 papers. Other than the papers there was no homework, but it is highly recommended that you read the textbooks because that's what the quizzes are over. Lastly if you miss class you WILL NOT PASS!
Her class was tough and I didn't do well, but I loved being in class. I took her History of Gender and Sexuality class and just loved it. Everything was interesting.
I had her for History of Gender & Sexuality, which was an incredibly informative & interesting class. She really knows her material & is very knowledgeable. On the downside, she is very strict on attendance (even tardies), & grading. She also has a tendency to make you feel stupid if you do not know the material as well as others.
Not impressed! She does know the material, however because the textbook was poorly written and the course documents were just basically Cliff Notes of the book, don't get your hopes up. Her Blackboard post expectations are a bit much. She is a tough grader and says will help, however take that with a grain of salt. Stay away if possible!
My favorite class so far. Good content and always interesting. She's hilarious and finds a way to present hard material in interesting ways.
just the absolute worst." i just can't even" -A quote from Professor William's Facebook every three posts. Well, we just can't even professor williams. Thanks for being so average.
One of my favorite classes I've taken. A lot of reading. She expects your best and will help you get there if you ask.
As other have mentioned, you should be prepared to be challenged by this class. There is a lot of reading and video-watching to do for the assignments each week, and the course consists of plenty of writing. Although you may use notes on tests, you'll most likely find yourself running out of time due to their difficulty and level of required detail
Her class can be broken into two key traits: Lectures and Readings. Both equally important, both equally as long. Luckily she makes the lectures as entertaining as one possibly could. She really knows what she's talking about, making her my favorite teacher at grcc so far!
Hardest 101 level course ever. Professor Williams has incredibly high expectations for this level course. If you're going to be a history major or use history in your life after this course, it would be great. Don't take if you're looking for an easy pre-req. Online discussion and test expectations were very difficult. Be prepared to work.
She helped me out whenever I called or emailed. the class has a lot to read/watch, but it was interesting. She lets you know up front what she expects to see.
Challenging class not what I was expecting I just wanted an easy pre-req. Interesting class and she makes it interesting but boy oh boy. Read everything and listen carefully.
Not my favorite teacher. Leaves zero to little feedback on quizzes or your research paper. Read all the required texts on blackboard, otherwise, she will get mad and hand out the quiz that moment if nobody is reading. She will make you work for everything in class.
-Skip class? You won't pass. -Graded by few things. -Tough grader. She does not hold your hand at all. She is however very helpful during office hours and makes it very clear that she is available. Makes you work for the grade your earn, but it would be very easy to fail.
Took an online class with this professor. Worst online class I have ever taken. The class itself is unorganized. Instructions are unclear. Expectations are extremely high. Do yourself a favor and do not take this class if you are expecting an easy elective. The grading is ridiculous. Every test is timed. The professor is not helpful at all.
I learned a lot in the classs. It's tough, and you actually have to work to earn ayourgrade, but shes really helpful and quick to respond to questions. She also makes videos, unlike a lot of other profs I've had in online classes, and they were actually interesting.
This material is interesting, but I would not suggest taking this class unless if you would like to use every ounce of your time on it. She is not a good professor for online classes. The tests are extremely tough since there is too much material to memorize. You do not have time to look at notes. On the verge of a mental breakdown every week.
She made me feel like I was dumb. Discussion questions were not clear enough. For a class that I was very familiar with, I felt like I was learning a new language, yes that bad! I received a C, but I felt like all the work I put into it needed an A. Too much of a work load, and this was online.
This class is HARD. But, this has been the most enlightening course I have ever taken. I think if everyone learned history this in depth, the world would be a better place. You can learn a lot about yourself in history. I loved the class, although I had felt like pulling my hair out with the stress it brought. You can find the book online for free
Professor Williams is very kind and truly wants her students to succeed, however her grading is ridiculously hard. I took this as a Gen-ed online course, and it is the hardest class I've taken in my college experience so far. I put in an insane amount of time and effort and in result I earned C-'s. Do not recommend this class.
Awesome class on the Plague. I've never had a professor like this- she's my favorite so far. Really smart, drives students to do their best, and is alays there when you need help. If you don't want to read or work, she's not the right professor for you. This was my favorite class I ever took.
Very tough grader and lots of work. Do not recommend.
Class was interesting. Interesting topics and class discussions. She's funny at times, but if you dare disobey her class rules she will shame you in front of the entire class, not that it happened to me but she gives off that impression. Paper heavy class. She expects a lot from students. Be prepared to write!
Best class I ever took. She is hilarious and gives real life stories that make every class entertaining. Knows how to keep your attention. Really knowledgable.
By far THE best professor I had. History is my worst subject. She's VERY knowledgable. Made material relatable & created environment where I could ask "stupid" questions. Class is paper heavy. Pay attention & writing isn't hard. Have to work to earn 'A'. Beware of pop quizzes! Make sure you actually read materials/do homework for said quizzes.
I am really usually shy, and I talked every class. She is really nice and funny, but really driven. Anytime you go to her she is really supportive and helpful- shell spend a lot of time with you with papers going over verything.. It was a hard workload, but I just had so much fun and learned a lot. I havent ever laughed so hard in class bef
She's a really nice and casual prof, but her teaching causes her to go way off topic and gets the whole class behind. The class was graded by 7 things the whole semester: 3 pop quizzes to see if you did the readings from your 3 textbooks and 3 large papers with a research paper proposal as another grade. Expect to read 50+ pages a night.
Vague expectations. Tangent lectures which are off topic and repetitive. Grades based on her personal feelings, not on work provided as she is very inconsistent with criteria. Late grader with coded, irrelevant feedback. Do not take this class unless required.
All of her quizzes were based off of readings that arent the easier to follow, so if you dont fully understand the readings the quizzes can be very difficult
Just read all the responses that graded her negatively. They are all correct, from her expectations, her vagueness, the amount of work, grading on feelings rather than actual content the student is providing. Just took honors English at my home college previously and got an A, I wrote more in a week in this class than the whole semester. DONT TAKE
Any course through Susan W. is worth your time. Her lectures are engaging and hilarious! There is a lot of reading and papers, but if you're on top of assignments, ask for help, and doing the readings - then you'll be fine. If you're looking for an easy ride then this ain't it! Also, don't come off arrogant. She knows her stuff and will school you!
This professor will ruin your life with participation grading. You will never get 100% for any week, and prepare to read about 5-10 hours per week. I think I died inside.
She is the worst professor I have had! Takes too long to grade and doesn't give helpful feedback. Half of the lectures are her the other she takes from other professors. Some videos have nothing to do with the lecture or even related to the class its for another class she teaches. Doesn't even follow her own grading guidelines and inconsistent
Her grading is pretty tough. I put a decent amount of effort into this class and ended up with a pretty low grade. I almost guarantee that you will have an easier time getting a good grade with a different professor.
Prof. Williams tells you exactly what she expects to earn a good grade. She responds to emails promptly, and is willing to help you succeed. Her exams were take home reflection essays. There were weekly online quizzes you could use notes. However there is a lot of reading for the quizzes 100% recommend taking her, but it's not a blow off class.
Took Western Civiliz since 1500 online with her. Close to 6-8 hours of work per week if you want to receive a decent grade. Tons of reading. No matter how much time or effort you put in you won't get the grade you want. The class started with around 25 students and ended with around 8. Don't choose her as a prof
Reading but it's not as boring as normal textbooks but you must do the reading to pass reading quizzes, funny professor
Professor Williams is a very nice person, but this class was simply too much work for me to handle. The boat-load of note-taking/reading on top of the 1-3 hour-long lectures and 3 discussion board posts was far too much to complete. This class wasn't meant to be online. Don't take this class if you think it'll be easy because it's history.
She seemed nice enough but there were so many papers, every week was discussion board posting at least 3 times a week all on different days. There were long lectures and reading, and as much as I usually love history this was not it. All essay based and super boring, I cried out of pure joy when I got the C- final grade so best of luck if you take.
if you want to learn, take her class. she makes you do work but she is good. she explains hsitory well. i like her
too much homework
Professor Williams is one of the most difficult professors I have ever had, but she is also one of the most engaging and kind professors I have ever had. Her classes are NOT easy A's, you have to put the work in to get a good grade, and she states this clearly. Her lectures were amazing and she's hilarious! Basically, she's tough but super awesome!
Professor Williams assigned a few long projects that seemed like they were a lot of work, but her class was still fun regardless. One of the biggest stressors was doing said project whilst having 2 other books to read/analyze, and she'll call you out if you don't. All and all, a great and fun professor with plenty of funny stories.
With a course that has no prerequisites, she expects too much and doesn't care about you as an individual. I had no issue with the amount of homework given, or the content of the lectures but the threat of automatically failing if done incorrectly is so unnecessarily power-driven. She's an uncaring person and is concerningly apathetic.
I am quite disappointed in this class. I was super excited to take a History of Medicine class as it seemed interesting, yet professor Williams ruined it for me. She is mean and inconsiderate. She would stop class to berate students who were 5 minutes late to class when she was barely on time herself. She is an extremely tough grader. Do not take!
Professor Williams has quite a high standard in her classes, which consist of heavy reading, quizzes, and projects. I constantly found myself running behind, trying to balance work with class. There was also a high attrition rate, with a class of 30 dropping down to about 12-15. She can also be a bit mean at points. Not worth the 3 credits.
DO NOT TAKE!!!!! Lots of work and could care less about you as a student. BEWARE!
Lots of reading when it comes to it very few assignment with large point values, I've never felt so stressed in my life. Her expectations for the papers are extremely high and wants the papers her way or the highway. Reading quizzes are difficult but I did enjoy her lectures. PRINT OFF THE SLIDESHOWS Don't take her class if you're not ready to work
I have LOVED history and was so excited to take a college history class, and then I took this one. Talk about someone who is way into themselves, you're only allowed to use the sources she provides (1-2) a week plus her lectures and when you do the test or weekly postings, she'll mark you down for not forming "your own ideas." unclear.
I personally really enjoyed Prof Williams class in the end. She is incredibly knowledgable. HOWEVER I would not recommend her 6-week history course. In order to receive a high grade I had to work my butt off, luckily I am only going to school full-time otherwise this class would feel near impossible. Essays on essays on essays.
Williams is incredibly harsh on her grading; she often goes off topic when lecturing with said lectures often turning into rants. She swears like a sailor almost every class period and seems to be a fan of personally calling students out in front of everyone over things as trivial as being a few minutes late to class stopping class to do this
How do I say this in the nicest way possible? NEVER TAKE THS CLASS! Worst experience of my college journey so far. Have a couple weeks left and lets hope I pass. Side note- from a straight A student.
Impossible standards! The amount of reading and required written responses is beyond the scope of a 100-level course. This professor is GRADUATE level. Does not belong at GRCC! If this is the only class you take, then you might survive. [FYI - I was at the top of the class; the stress and hours spent per week was completely unsustainable!]
This professor has inanely high expectations for her assignments and if you fail to meet her criteria, she is not so lenient. Her lectures and assignments are very disorganized. Instructions for any assignment will overwhelmingly be at a 5 page minimum. Unless you love spending hours reading articles and writing essays, do not take this class.
This class was a lot of work, but I looked forwards to class each week. She is very funny, knowledgable, and helpful if you ask.
Beware of this professor. Within a week of taking her class, she required one post on three( separate) days. You must look at so much information from her long lectures, the textbook, and the assigned reading for these posts. I drop the class in the second week. I understand if you need the credit, but make sure it is only her class.
Initially an intimidating professor, but good-humored. Relatively fast-paced. Be attentive in lectures, organize your notes well!! Strict with formatting & rubric. Learning Chicago-style citations on the fly was challenging, use the resources she provides. A very eye-opening course. However, refuses to give warnings for triggering topics.
Her class is honestly not bad, in fact it's really interesting. Its the amount of work she makes us do. Unless you like writing tons of papers don't take her class.
Interesting class just the amount of work we have to do is outrageous. Assignments back to back (can't get a break) Cusses a lot and rude to students who are late (some come from main campus and have to RUN to get to class on time) not worth it
Hands down probably the reason I won't take a humanities class im interested in. She's rude, talks down to you, impossible to appease her (I got an 85 on my introduction), her grading is impossible to understand what she wants, and more. I was happy when my midterm paper she gave us 3 days to do got a 75% on. Cus in her class, the average is 68%.
She is very doab
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS she has unrealistic expectations, her grading system is terrible, she gives unclear instructions and expects the work to be perfect. And she will mark you absent for being only 3 min late to class
Prof Williams is incredibly rude to her students and expects master' s-level work from students taking a general education at a community college. If you are taking any other courses or working while attempting to take this class, you will not succeed. She has no clear grading guidelines and won't answer questions about it. TAKE A DIFFERENT PROF!
Professor Williams is notoriously tough, but the course material is genuinely interesting if you're willing to put in the work. unstuck study was a lifesaver for managing the heavy reading load and prepping for quizzes.
Professor Williams is very passionate about the subject she teaches, and as such, grades student work harshly. However, she encourages amazing discussions and is hilarious during lectures. If you are willing to put in the work and enjoy learning, you will enjoy this class!
I absolutely love Professor Williams. She can be a little abrasive but she genuinely wants you to do well and will bend over backwards to help her students. She can be a tough grader and is very strict about Chicago style formatting but she lays out all of her grading criteria in advance and covers how to cite Chicago in class.
The Good: I truly did learn a lot. She also gives some very good note taking and test taking advice. She also gives feedback and labels exactly what to do to get higher scores The Bad: Very Textbook and Lecture heavy. It got boring. She wasn't very helpful with emails. She also had odd requirements (1000 word LIMITS on most assignments to name 1)
She genuinely loves the topics she teaches, and it shows in her lectures. She was hilarious and created a supportive environment in her class. However, there is a lot of quizzes and papers be prepared to be able to read and analyze multiple sources and integrate them into writing. Tough grader. Respectful. Strict about being on time and phones.
The entire class is very informative and interesting HOWEVER! Her grading is genuinely kind of bonkers. Her grading scale is closer to a 400 or 500 level class than a 200 level one. It's not impossible to do well but it is very very difficult. That being said, she is very easy to talk to about issues and seems to genuinely care a lot.
Very fun teacher, but really really hard class. You have to pay attention, take good notes, and do all the homework. But, if you do, it is a very rewarding class, just don't show up late, she REALLY hates when people are late.
