excellent lectures. Course objectives and student expectations are VERY clear. You know what you need to know.
Very cool teacher. Very specific. Difficult course but subject was meant to be difficult.
AWESOME teacher! Subject matter hard but she has every intrest in helping you to suceed. Very helpful. Good sense of humor. Loves subject she's teaching and it shows.
This class is hard and is not for slackers. Dr. Wilson is extremley clear and organized in her presentation of material. She even provides course notes that contains everything you need. I highly recommend her for Anatomy. But just for clarification every teacher in the Anatomy dept. is great!!!
I would not recommend this instructor. She is an expert on this subject, but is often irritable and unapproachable, responding to student questions with a scolding which shuts down the educational process. Also changed grading policies on papers several times on a paper and takes points off if you w
Dr Wilson is an amazing instructor. Be prepared to be challanged, and desiring to rise to the occasion. Susan is awe inspiring and taking her will change your life. She answers ?'s, but students expecting to have their hands held, or not put in the time and energy it takes to pass, need not apply.
Very funny, very to the point, she can be sarcastic, but she has a very generous heart. If you want to be a nurse take Dr. Wilson, she will get you ready.
She has a very New York sarcastic tone and humor to her teaching. She is very hard to impress because she is a Physiology genius. You have to work your ass off to do well in the class and the amount of course material studied is beyond overwhelming. She is clear, but extremely difficult and picky.
Unapproachable to some, occasional odd behavior--didn't appreciate personal ex-husband anecdotes. Pickiness is weirdly unspecific and random.
A teacher very committed to subject. Don't expect to do well unless you are willing to put in the effort. No surprises.
She is very organized and her lectures incredibly informative. She expects a lot but tells you what she wants. You have to be willing to work hard and be interested in the subject.
Okay, I understand that she is the hardest teacher most everyone has ever had, but how many people can say that they DIDN'T learn something from her? I know I did!! I graduate from nursing school soon and I owe a LOT of that to Dr. Wilson
the best teacher I had in college-- bar none!
Class appeals to a monoculture of people who are willing to put learning on the back burner in order to please the teacher. In my class the most unpleasant student (who kissed ass the most, too) got an A and many highly intelligent people who knew the material and who would make great nurses did poorly.
Dr. Wilson is extremely knowledgeable and DEDICATED to her topics & work-you need to be equally enthusiastic, able to communicate, have good english skills and be disciplined with studies. She was always clear and precise on what she expects you to learn. You will earn your grade, learn how to learn, and be VERY prepared. Definately recommend her.
best teacher I've ever had, she likes teaching physio more than anatomy, but both are great classes! recamended!
Treats students with with disdain as if they were stupid idots unless you kiss up to her. Grades on essys and labs are very subjective. Seemed unwilling to be helpful at first, but softs up. She does give a very intersting, clear, and well organized lecture. She just needs to smile a little more and show more respect for students.
Very knowledgable on the subject. I enjoyed her class and got an A. Need to stay on top of the material as it is overwhelming otherwise.
A very difficult teacher. She is unapproachable during office hours and lab so expect no handholding. Very clear on what she tests on, tough grader on essays. Take Susan if you want to be challenged and have a firm grip on the subject. I suffered the whole semester but at the end I can’t deny that I am a better student.
Given the difficulty of the subject, I think Dr. Wilson is as good as it gets. She is highly organized, passionate of the subject, and truly cares about students. Her motherly advice is on the money. She requires students to study hard, but she is not vague about what to study. She even sells her notes for the cost of the printing, as a guide.
Dr. Wilson is a very organized instructor. What I loved about her class, is that there are no surprises on exams! If you follow the study guide religously, you'll be fine. Basically what you see on the study guide is what you get on her exams.
This is a hard class. This class is no joke. If you want to pass this class you have to study 24/7.
Dr. Wilson is a very good teacher. do not buy into what you have heard from people who are bitter with her. She is very organized, on time, and has a very dry sense of humour. Human physiology is a very diffucult subject no matter who is teaching, but Susan made it enjoyable and understandable. If you wanna be a nurse, you gotta work hard for it.
Very hard class, I recommend you don't have anything huge going on in your life that can distract you from studying. Sometimes she will go too fast during lecture, but you can catch up in the course book and her study guild, which helps a lot. Prepares you for the real world. was a little afraid to ask questions in class.
Great Teacher. Study hard.
Too hard, doesnt like questions..Burnt out..needs to retire!
this class was too hard. dont take it if you dont have the time.
Dr. Wilson is a great teacher, very knowledgebale on the subject. She is funny and interesting, though she can have a tendency to shoot down questions. Didn't find the material particularly hard, just a whole lot covered in one semester, definitely plan on having lots of time for studying and open lab.
You will probably think she is the biggest **** in the world at first, but she will really grow on you! I love her now! I am struggling and I am...wait WAS an A student. If you are not willing to make anatomy your life, don't even bother taking the class. I think she is VERY clear on what she wants, and makes a course notes book. She is GREAT!
very hard. very fair. clear lectures. if you cant devote your life to anatomy then dont take it! i mean over 40 hours a week if you want to get a B! good luck everyone- im glad im done!
I took Anatomy during summer and though it was hard, it turned out to be very rewarding. I ended up taking Physiology with her right after, which I highly recommend. I was able to shut my brain off when she'd go over the Anatomy stuff in beginning of each physiology section. Also her notes (that you can buy) are awesome.
If someone asks a question in class, she can only explain things the one way she knows them. So answering questions just means that she repeats what she already said, but put's emphasis on certain words while tilting her head at you to make you feel stupid.
Not an enjoyable experience! Avoid taking Wilson if at all possible!
Avoid this instructor; she's very opionated with lots of issues and attitude. This instructor goes all over the subject, not focussed; hard to follow. She'll have you reaserching many source of information if you want to do well. About 40% of her material is sources other than lecture book. She's a wizz in physiology, but confusing as hell.
Take this class if you want to learn. Take someone else otherwise.
The Bomb!
The previous comments don't do this instructor justice. She's a good instructor who's easy to follow, if you're not a moron. She challenges her students to learn. If you're looking for an easier class to fulfill your Nursing requirement, I'd look elsewhere. If you're looking to learn however, I'd recommend taking her. Funny dry sense of humor.
Professor Wilson has a reputation in Sonoma County as a difficult, but excellent teacher. She's an expert but her style is cold and castrating. Worst, she almost never enters the cadaver lab, leaving us to fight for the attn of the lab asst or trying to guess from diagrams where the structures are. If you aren't self taught you'll never make it!
I liked Susan and have great respect for the woman. This is definitely a 20+ hour a week class, but it is my biggest pay off so far in my 90+ units at the JC. She tells you exactly what you need to know (although it is overwhelming), so it's up to you to get the A. I DID!
Susan was a hardworking teacher and expects the same of her students. Anatomy is a hard subject because there is so much information to take in but that is not a reflection of her teaching skills. Although she can be intimidating, when I asked her for help she gave it. This class and teacher is should be reserved for mature students only.
I took Anatomy over the summer, though it was overwhelming, I ended up loving it and actually doing well. It is without a doubt the most I have ever studied, but in the end it pays off. Work hard, be able to not only memorize a lot of information, but also understand it. If you had a question she was glad to answer it.
Her lectures are very clear and exams include only what she teaches and what is in her course notes. Tough class... and even harder if you haven't taken anatomy.
Best teacher I have ever had. A or D student, the way she treats you depends on one thing only: are you working hard and doing your best? If you want to slide through, you won't like it and she won't like you. I was better prepared than my nursing school classmates, and I owe that to her. The excellence of her department is due to her, too.
She is great. I've heard that shes horrible, but those people just must not get her. She is a bit sarcastic, but I like that type of humor.Very hard classes, but she is very helpful.
The hardest class I have taken during my 50 or so college units.Dr. Wilson is a good teacher, she expects a lot from students. The class is very time consuming, dont take this class if you have other stuff going on, or if you want to be praised all the time. She doesnt baby people, and doesnt really have favorites.
Seriously, why put yourself through it? She is a very negative, sarcastic person who likes to insult people. The class is hard, if you miss one class she will literally call you on the phone! This is it for her. There are so many other ways to learn, and to enjoy learning. If you are a cute guy, you will have better chances if you are adding..
Dr. Wilsons' lectures are very enterntaining and educational at the same time. I recommend her becasue she is very organized, more so than the other instructers. Some feel intimidated by her. Get over it. She can be moody, but so can you and I. If you want a good grade, you MUST attend open labs. I also recommend anatomy 58 prior to this class.
Susan is the bomb. She can be a little moody, but get over it, people! If you're going into health care, many of your patients will be FAR, FAR worse then Susan. She is a crystal clear lecturer and highly organized. She's tough, but Anatomy and Physio is SUPPOSE to be tough! People that bash her are little cry babies.
Avoid wilson at all costs, i have taken her for anat 1 and was stuck taking her for physio. she is way too hard on people, she is very picky on tests, and just to warn ppl she repeats the same stories over and over again. she has an opinion on everything. Her tests are very hard, she words things differently in her lecture then in her exams.
Just like everyone else, I went into this class somewhat worried about taking this class with Wilson, but I am SO relieved that I did. She is so clear in what she wants from students. Please dont be intimidated by her!! TAKE HER! If you put in your time, you will do well. GO TO OPEN LAB! She wants you to succeed! Yes, she does.
Also, she tries to scare people away in the beginning. Please don't let it discourage you...she is trying to get rid of people that aren't doing well and aren't ready to take the class because so many people are that didn't make it in.
i love love love susan! i took her for physio during summer..it was intense but i like her sense of humor..as long as she knows that u are trying hard, she will help u out..physio and anatomy are hard classes regardless of what teacher u take..grow up losers who always complain about her..
she is suprisingly wonderful. really good teacher, i would recommend her!
At first, I was freaked out when attenging her class but I had no choice. Lecture recording really helped me a lot since I'm a slow writer. Just focusing on her lectures & course note book and seriously study will help you a lot. She is who she is, don't get scared by others's words. Study hard & find a good classmate who will study with you truly
Really tough class, LOTS of info. Susan is brilliant and sarcastic. If you try hard, then she'll work with you!! If you can't dedicate yourself, then she's not that happy about it but (to me and my study buddies) thats completely understanding. Don't fall behind!!
Plan on dedicating your entire semester to anatomy. Lots of people drop out, only the extremely dedicated students pass. I studied 30 to 50 hours a week and ended up with an A-. Her essays are not hard but stressful. She offers a little extra credit. Buy her study guide it helps alot! Her lectures are funny and you will learn alot from her.
I took her for both Anat 1 and Physio 1. I found that once you get used to her way of teaching, it would be so easy. Many people have dropped out of her class because they were not prepared for her teaching style. Just focus on what she wants and follow her direction then you will be fine, just don't over thinking outside the box.
Crazy intensive during the summer. Spending 7 days a week at school/study groups and open labs. 20 plus hours a day. This class would be super easy during a regular semester but summer..you live, eat and breath this class. Crazy intensive. Be prepared!
This is an extremely difficult class. If you don't have 30 hrs a week to put in don't bother taking the class. Susan's grading is very tough. Whatever grade you are used to expect at least one letter grade lower. With that said, she is a great teacher; super clear and organized.
She starts her class uptight, and slowly relaxes a little. She is friendly & helpful in office hours. She does have her favorite "teacher's pets." Take her lab, it's doing better overall in the class. Her expectations are difficult & scattered, it's frustrating to figure out what she wants on an essay. She admits she can be a subjective grader.
Wilson told me that I did not deserve to pass her class, and that I would be terrible in my profession. She has been overtly rude to me since the first day, even when I try to be friendly or ask for help. She definitely treats each student differently. I worked hard and received a B, I'm not sure why she kept treating me like I was a slacker.
She is a good teacher, and she makes lectures interesting. You can buy her lecture notes which is really helpful, but the class was definitely the hardest I've taken yet. Unfortunately, she could be very rude, bitter, and condescending, but I learned a lot from her anyways.
Very hard class!! Yes Dr. Wilson is rude just don't let her OPINION run your experience, she is a great instructor to have. Very clear on what she wants. She writes her own course notes which will be your bible! She takes the test right from her Study guide. She gets you grades back super fast! She stays late comes in early and is always available.
She is the BEST Anatomy instructor at the JC. If you want to be successful and get a good grade take Wilison. If you want someone to hold your hand, take King. I wouldn't even bother with the other teachers. Do not take this class, unless you have to. Hardest class I have ever taken, I have an A, but I spend at least 40+ hours studying.
Dr. Wilson is one of the best instructors I have ever had. The 350 word limit does not do this class justice. She was clear, concise, and told you exactly why you were learning what you were learning. Her stories and examples were always entertaining and the class was always engaging. She's shown me what type of teacher I want to be in the future.
Dr. Wilson is a clear instructor who gives interesting lectures and very straight forward, fair exams. Her sarcasm is her charm. If you pay attention, actively take notes, and keep up with work there really is no reason why you should not get an A in the class.
Took ANAT1 last semester with her so thought I would take her for physio. she is very challenging and tries to scare ppl off from day 1. i took this along with 6 other classes including micro60 while working part time between 2 jobs. even if this was my only class and had no job, an A still wouldn't have been possible for me in this class. tuff
I took her for both Anatomy and Physio. She is the best teacher to take for Anat and I would recommend her for physio as well. Very hard class. Use the CLASS NOTES and know them by heart, that is the best advice for taking her classes. She is a very nice and caring lady if you get to know her.
This class was by far the hardest class I have ever taken and I have a Bachelors. Plan on dedicating all your time to this class, open lab is key. Her class notes will be your bible. Susan is very clear on what she expects you to know for her exams. I highly recommend taking Susan, she can rub you the wrong way at times, but she knows her stuff!
She will fail you on an essay if you go at all outside her course notes, even if you have all the information right. She says her sister is a screw up who "only" became a psych nurse. She tells her students they will be the type of nurses who kill people if they aren't doing well in the class and just generally tries to scare people off. Take Anast
Very hard teacher and tries to scare you from day one. Tests are hard even if you study, go to every class and take great notes. Be prepared to work very hard. She is also a little condescending. Interesting course, but would not take her again.
I was VERY fortunate to have Susan Wilson as my prof. Her standards are high and I have immense respect for her. Her class is like academic boot camp. I was terrified on day one, but worked HARD and now know I have what it takes to succeed. Spend many, many hours in open lab. Know your studying style before you sign up and listen to Pete.
ANAT/PHYSIO are extremely hard classes so yes they both take extreme studying/dedication on your part if you want to succeed or even do decent, but I have NEVER felt so prepared after taking a class. She is beyond the best teacher I have ever had. I was always a C/D student b4 taking her classes-didn't care much about school until takin her classes
(continued from my previous rating)..I then decided to start getting serious about getting better grades/actually caring about school & wasn't actually planning on taking Wilson (wanted King as teacher originally) but ended up falling in love with Anatomy and started studying hard for 1st time in my life. Long story short I earned an A and then
(continued from my previous rating)..a high B in her Physio class. I must say at first yes she was intimidating & I can see how ppl that don't get to know her can misjudge her but believe me if you want to truly have an experience that will change your future career/life like it has mine, highly recommending her would be an understatement. Some...
At first I wasn't too sure about the class or her until after week ohen ralized what a great class and teacher she is. She might seem "grouchy" at first but she's the best teacher I have ever had in all my years of school. She is super clear and organized and truants her tudents to succeed and gives you all that you need to. I HIGHLY recommend her
Hands down the best teacher I have ever had. VERY hard, I mean veryy hard class but you will not be nearly prepared for whatever direction you're going into the Medical field as you will as being a student of Susan's. Other teacher's classes will require same study load, but won't get out nearly 1/10 as much as you would if you take part in Wilsons
I have taken Susan and King, and they are both great. Susan will tell you what's on the test and what she expects. She can come off as rude and grumpy, but as the semester goes on, it's clear that she want's everyone to succeed. Re-write your notes, go to open lab, build a study group, don't fall behind, and you will get the grade you want.
She is so negative and rude. She made every moment I was in her class miserable. She's knows her subject but the classroom environment inhibited my learning. She is biased and wants to be liked more than she cares about students. Please don't use the class as a platform for your offensive opinions, its a captive audience! Hope to never see her agai
She is the best instructor for Anat1 and Physio 1. She knows her stuff and super clear. Definitely not easy classes, but you will learn a lot from her.If you are ready to put your time and effort to succeed, A is yours.
This class is rough. Tons of information and totally overwhelming... and Wilson doesn't sugarcoat it. BUT if you put in the work and show that you're working hard, she'll support you through it. She comes off tough, but she truly is lovely. If you find her intimidating, go to her office hours. You'll see that she's quite nice and supportive.
She lectures at the speed of light, so I suggest recording lectures. She can come off as rude or mean, but it's really just her sarcasm. She's very nice and supportive if you seek out her help. This class is tough and she doesn't sugarcoat it, but you will learn so much and be far better prepared for your major if you take her class.
I recently scored 100% on the human body science and life science portions of the TEAS, and I believe this is largely because I had Wilson for anat and physio. SUPER duper tough, but I'm so pleased, and ready for nursing school. :)
Impossible to do well unless you have already learned the material/taken the class before. Only 3 people in my class received an A. She is the hardest teacher at the JC. She is rude and unapproachable. Doesn't teach any of the lab material. Take a different teacher.
For everyone saying she is rude and mean. She truly is not. She is very straight forward and clear, she does not baby you, but is always there if you need her, and is very encouraging. Personally i think the best teacher you could have. Diciplined yes, but she prepares you better than any other teacher. I feel privilaged to have had her an my instr
Susan is a great professor! She provides all the tools you need to succeed so it is up to you to use them. She is smart , kind-hearted, and hilarious but means business. Anatomy was the most time consuming class I have ever taken. You will have to go to open lab to do well. Work hard, ask questions, and make the commitment. You can do it!
She expects a lot from her students, and every answer given needs to be as precise as possible. Had her for both Anatomy and Physiology, easily the two hardest classes I've ever taken in my life.
Susan expects PERCISE answers. You really have to understand the material - memorizing won't get you very far. Take your own notes during lecture and use hers for reference. Study study study! Overall, Susan is a great teacher. She's funny and really knows the material. Hardest class I have ever taken for sure! Take the oral final!
Susan is a great teacher with funny stories. Advice is - not miss any class or lab, record and transcribe EVERY LECTURE, study in groups and test each other verbally, oh and take the oral final. When studying for exams prepare essays and rewrite them. Also sign up early for a tutor. Buy the course notes too. Good luck!
Susan is an amazing instructor. Her essays are challenging, but she does give a CLEAR example of what she is looking for. She can be intimidating, but is very helpful if you seek her out during office hours or over email. She gives a GREAT study guide and course notes. Recording lectures and transcribing notes is a must. You CAN do it!!!
Dr. Wilson was amazing for both Anatomy and Physiology 1. I earned A's in both her classes. The key to passing is complete focus. Read the chapters assigned, take notes in class, re-write (I recommend by hand, with illustrations) your notes everyday. Monday through Sunday. I was one of only students to earn an A. Hardest and best class of my life.
Here's the bad: Susan is not the easiest to approach, and she doesn't give positive feedback. She is also really direct, which can be a little much If you're not expecting it. The good? Pretty much everything else. Her tests are fair, and she's a fair grader. Her expectations are clear. Most importantly, she's a great lecturer. I do recommend her.
Susan expects too much from her students for a beginner Physio class. She wants everything in such incredible detail it is easy to get points knocked off. I did not mesh well with her teaching style and am normally an A and B student and received a C in her class. Record lectures, re-write EVERY SINGLE ONE, study in groups if possible!
Many years since I've had a professor like Dr. Wilson. Challenging? YES, thank God!! What is this "Easiness" category about?? If you want to "master" a subject, YOU have to do the work. Susan knows that and she practically HANDS you what you need to know on a platter. Whiners and the heretofore molly-coddled need not apply. Do the work, learn.
Dr. Wilson gives you what you need to succeed if you are willing to put in the work. Highly recommended.
Personally, I love Dr. Wilson. She has been so helpful in every way. I recommend everyone to take her. You can buy her Course-notes for super cheap. She is direct on exactly what she wants and she tells you exactly whats on the test. And of course she is hard, these are hard classes. It takes dedication, time and practice. Thank you Dr. Wilson :)
I have had her for 3 semesters for anatomy and physiology. She is AMAZING. Best teacher I've ever had. And I got a C and a B in the two subjects. I highly respect her teaching style. Very straight forward- she will literally tell you what wont and will be on the test. Wants you to pass- willing to explain/relecture anything to anyone. Funny too!
Dr. Wilson is one of the best (if not THE best) teacher I have ever had. She is challenging, professional, humorous, and fair. She holds her students to a standard of excellence so that they truly learn and are prepared for their next goals. She's tough but clear so be a good student and do the work!
By far the hardest class I've taken because of ALL the material you have to learn. I took a summer course. Wilson's lectures are easy to understand. She doesn't speak too fast and she makes it interesting. She also has a good sense of humor. She sets you up for success as long as you keep up with the material weekly.
Dr. Wilson is amazing. I took her for anatomy and physiology and wouldn't have done things any differently. I found anatomy to be quite challenging but physio was much more enjoyable and easy to follow. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs to take these courses- there's a reason her classes are always packed over capacity.
Best teacher! She lectures in a way you can easily understand which is great for introductory courses. She uses great analogies. She sets you up for success. You can have access to her Powerpoint slides if you bring a USB.
Susan Wilson's teaching style is really great. She tells you not to memorize the material, but she is so particular on what she wants in the essays that you have to in order to receive full credit. Her lectures are interesting but they don't follow her notes so keep up. Rewrite everything. Do all the extra credit, and stay on her good side.
Please for the love of god don't take Anat 1 until you're ready. When you're ready, take Dr. Wilson. She requires *real* critical thinking for essays. The real challenge is time management and staying focused. Provides 2 EC opportunities. Lowest lab exam is dropped. Provides excellent study guide and drops lots of hints - pay attention!!
Take anyone else. Studied for hours on end and she is such a nip pick grader that you see no results.
This class was intense and also my favorite of all the science pre-reqs. thus far. Wilson can be intimidating because she has a PhD and is extremely intelligent, but when you talk to her one on one she is a very caring person. Come to class prepared to ask questions and be engaged in your learning. She's crystal clear & really wants you to succeed.
Such a great professor however her tests are ridiculously difficult. You will have regular midterms and lab exams and with those both it feels like your study for two classes for the same class. Make sure you balance your time between lab and lecture work. She is very approachable and on a personal note she's amazing. She gives good feedback.
She doesn't teach, she gives lectures but it's up to the student to figure out how to learn the material. She doesn't teach in lab so it is up to you to come prepared to learn on your own. She is very tough when it comes to grading the essay portion of the exams (yes there are essay exams). She also likes to trick you on exams. Hardest class ever.
Dr. Wilson takes pride in how difficult her class is and doesn't seem to like when students succeed. Be prepared to have no life besides studying for anatomy. I studied every single day and attended open labs regularly and still barely passed this course.
This is definitely the hardest class I have taken, but that's how it's supposed to be. Going into a medical profession SHOULD NOT BE EASY. Overall, Dr. Wilson gave tons of hints about which essays would or would not be on the tests and gave useful tips about what to study. Very fascinating material learned and good prep for future classes!
ONE OF THE HARDEST CLASS IVE EVER TAKEN. Your classmates are your support group. She makes her lecture tests very difficult. Her course notes provide a group outline of everything but this class overall is very time consuming. Its like she doesnt want any of us to succeed. Be aware going into it.
Anatomy is ridiculously hard, but if you take it with her, do yourself a favor and take physiology with her too if you need it!! Her course notes (basically a textbook written by herself) are your lifeline. Know those by heart and you will pass. Never lose focus during lecture, she drops test/essay hints constantly. SHE WANTS HER STUDENTS TO PASS!
Had her for 3 semesters straight! Always available to help outside of class,in person or through email. She may seem grumpy and intimidating, but when it comes down to it, she will answer ANY questions you have and re-lecture anything for you at the group meetings. She wants her students to pass. I absolutely love her and wish she taught micro too!
I had her for Phsyio and anatomy. Wilson is clear cut on what she wants you to learn and her tests are made for you to really think critically about what she taught you. Her classes require complete understanding of the material and at least 25 hours Of study, for anatomy probably even more. I got As on both subjects, you got to work at UC level.
Took Susan Wilson for both Anatomy and Physiology and absolutely loved her. These classes are very difficult, but she wants you to succeed more than anybody. I'm not a great student, but I got B's in both classes (worked hard). Very foward, very honest, very fair grader. Outside of class, I found her to be an extremely compassionate human being.
I found this course to be difficult, but if you prioritize well, you will be fine. The course notes were vital to passing, and make sure you go to all lectures. Susan is a nice person, who will answer any questions you may have. The hardest part for me were the lab exams, so be prepared to study a lot of material just for those.
I took Susan for both physio and anatomy and received A's in both classes, the hardest A's I've ever earned. Susan is very clear on what will be on exams/quizzes and gives you all the information you need in order to do well. She may come off as stern, but ultimately she wants every student to succeed and if you put in the effort, you'll be fine.
Susan is an extremely intelligent, sarcastic, and great professor. The class is super hard and she's tricky... My advice: listen to hear, what she's asking and what she's not asking. She's really clear and honest, and I think she's a very fair grader. With Susan you do learn. This is a unique opportunity to learn from an amazing woman!!
Clear grading material. Brilliant woman but in my opinion, she has unreasonable expectations when compared to the other professors.
Dr. Wilson is a hard, but good professor. She knows science very well and understands the struggles students experience. Get to know her during office hours, it helps a lot! Highly recommend! :)
Wilson is amazing! I took anatomy and physio with her. She sells her course notes, which have all the information she will be testing on. Her exams perfectly match her study guides and lectures, she makes sure you know what to study for. Anatomy- buy the book! Physio- never opened the book, but I had her course notes. No homework, just studying
Dr. Wilson is hands down one of the best teachers I have ever had! She is organized, clear about what she expects, and gives you what you need to succeed. She WANTS you to be successful and is very willing to answer questions. Best of all, after being a smoker for 14 years, her lecture convinced me to quit. I am lucky to have had her for this class
Dr. Wilson is by the far the best teacher I have ever had! Her class is super intense and her expectations are high but if youre willing to put in the work and be 100% committed you can totally do it! She is absolutely brilliant and will tell you exactly what she expects from her students. Put in the work and take Dr. Wilson! Shes inspiring!!
Susan Wilson is a professor you will either love or dislike. I LOVE her! She really pushes you to learn and understand the material more than just passing a test! I took her for ANAT 1 and then again for PHYSIO 1 and did an Independent Internship with her. If she taught another class I would. She is a professor I will remember & be grateful for.
Plays word games. Must use her exact wording on exams otherwise she marks zero. Seems as though she has memorized subject matter rather than really understands it. Not very energetic about material. Doesn't teach at all during lab. Join a student study group; it's a much better way to learn anatomy with this instructor.
Don't take Wilson unless you want to spend ALL of your time studying and sitting through boring lectures. Just sits there in lab without any explanation on what to do. Anatomy is tough no matter which way you put it but do yourself a favor and make it a little easier on yourself by choosing another professor, maybe one who enjoys to smile and help.
Susan was a character. Her class made me re-evaluate my study habits, and made me really really work for the grade. That said, that came in the form of simply memorization. I walked away from this class with a great understanding of cadavers and dissection, but the rest of the class 90% was just memorization, no critical thinking involved. Dreadful.
Dr. Wilson is one of the best instructors Ive had. Shes super knowledgeable. She may seem really intimidating but if you actually ask for help shes very caring. Her lectures are very thorough and she will tell you what you need to know exactly for her exams. Anatomy is a hard class in general and the effort you put in is the grade you will get.
Took Anat/Physio with her. She is a completely reasonable human being and anyone who says otherwise should get out of STEM. Anatomy I feel is about teaching yourself so you can really take any prof as long as you can be diligent with studying. Physio is completely different; Take Wilson, she explains everything clearly and straight to the point.
Dr. Wilson is such a great teacher. This class will take over your life for a sesmstwr but I will learn so much. There are 4 exams, about 6 lab exams and 1 final. Plan to study a lot (like 20hrs per week) and don't miss any lectures.
I have taken courses at the UC level and this class is EXTRA. Buy her course notes, understand and memorize it! stay on top of the material and you CAN succeed. If you really want an A, go to every open lab and make really good friends to motivate each other! This class is draining, but so worth and you will learn a lot! Relisten to podcast!
I was truly amazed how I transformed as a person from taking this class. I started out hating the course, but if you open your mind and change your perceptiveness and it is such a valuable class. Dr. Wilson knows her stuff! This was the hardest thing I have done in life so far, and quite the accomplishment to pass with a B!
Course notes will be your bible in this course. Make sure you work on the study guide actively through the lectures cuz if you wait till the last minute, you won't finish it. All test questions are on the study guide. Lots of studying but easier than anatomy. Susan is great! The JC will lose a brilliant women after she retires. Take her while u can
Dr. Wilson is an incredible teacher! Her lectures are super informative, well organized, and explained in a way that is very digestible. I highly recommend recording and re-listening to her lectures. She is very clear about what you will be tested over and has it all laid out in the study guide. She has a great sense of humor and a kind heart! :)
Susan grades quickly, offers course notes and a study guide. She is a very tough grader. This has been my most challenging class yet. You won't have any free time, you will need to spend all your time studying if you don't want to retake the class.
Wilson weeds out the weak. This class forced me to level up as a student & helped prepare me for the workload & material of the nursing program. Buy the lecture notes & refer to them often. Attend & record all lectures & attend open lab as much as possible There are no surprises when it comes to the exams. A true privilege to have learned from her.
This class is tough, so if you are looking for an easy anatomy class, this one is not it. Despite that, I don't think it is a bad class, however, it requires you to eat, sleep, and breathe anatomy. Not everything is taught during her lectures so you will need to do a lot of studying on your own or within a study group.
Susan Wilson is a nice person but her teaching style did not work for me. She is very anti-technology so don't depend on taking notes on a device. She will post empty lecture slides on the board and just talk. Never helped during lab. No extra credit is available at all. Would not recommend.
Anatomy is not going to be easy, regardless of instructor. It's a lot. Prepare to put in the work & sacrifice that is necessary to get a passing grade in this class & more specifically an A. Susan's method of teaching worked really well for me & she cares about her students succeeding. Make friends, get an iPad, ask questions, take no other classes
Dr. Wilson is intelligent, hilarious, and a great professor. She does an excellent job breaking down complex topics and will thoroughly answer any question you have. She can be a bit intimidating, but genuinely wants the best for her students.
Never had a worst experience with a teacher before. Susan was blunt very rude to those who asked questions or needed help. I had emailed her telling her one of her exam questions were unfair seeing as though it wasn't on the study guide (multiple of my classmates felt this was) and she responded with a condescending and defensive attitude.
The worst professor I've had so far at the JC, I'm shocked at how high her score is on here. Wilson's quizzes and tests are worded confusingly, and you'll be docked points/marked incorrect if not phrased to her liking, even if it's correct. No instruction/help in the labs. I have never felt so alone and without support in a class before.
