funny, nice, helpful, fast material, easy quizzes, hard tests
Quizes easy;Uses BOOK's tests which suck;doesn't like emails;moves fast!
disorganized, but easy quizzes... tests modified off of homework
No Comments
disorganized, lectures too fast. would never take her again
No Comments
She is very helpful... a little disorganized... one of the nicest people at SRU. She moves quickly, but to survive in science at SRU you must be willing to actually study and go to class, people... this is college you know
Very disorganized and fast paced. Doesnt care if her whole class fails will still fly along and tell the class it is their fault when in fact it is her teaching. Not very friendly and very hard to go to for help
Dr. Zirpoli is a great professor and a great advisor!
I like Dr. Zirpoli a lot. A lot of people complain about her, but honestly, if you can't keep up with her class, then honestly you shouldn't be a biology/chem/science major, because it only gets harder from here on. At least she posts her notes.
She's so unprepared and disorganized, unclear, requires a lot of work on your behalf.
You will have to work, but in science, it can't be any other way. If you are not doing well in her class, change your major, because you won't be able to survive anything else in science if you can't understand her. Easy class.
to be fair, science classes are naturally difficuly, but dr. zirpoli's class is unessecarily hard because she is not a good teacher. She simply reads off her power point notes and does not take the time to explain or elaborate. Essentially doesnt teach
She is a nice lady, and she posts her notes on the net. However, she goes a little too fast sometimes, and she messes up a lot. She really does not explain things to well either. On the other hand, Chemistry is a hard major, so you have to work hard to earn the degree.
Really Difficult to follow in class. Quizzes are easy but decieving. Tests are hard. She doesn't stop at any point in the class even if you are confused.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU ARE NOT A CHEM MAJOR
I have had Dr. Zirpoli for both lecture and lab and enjoyed her in both environments. She is very knowledgable and is a pleasant person to talk to (unless she's stressed out- but that happens to the best of us, which she is). You will learn a lot from her, especially if you are a chemistry major.
very unhelpful and unclear
Dr. Zirpoli is a nice teacher. This is a hard class and if you are willing to put forth the effort you will do fine. Her tests are difficult but if listen in class and do the homework you will be fine. I think she's good at what she does.
She is scatterbrained and does not even have a teaching certificate. Sure she has a Ph.D. but that doesn't mean she can teach! This is evident when you take her class and realize that she cannot teach. Sure, she's very smart and knowledgable but don't take her class if you expect to learn anything
It was hard to stay with her. She would just read right off of the Power Point. Thats class.. so if you like someone whos scattered and dosnt teach just reads go ahead take the chance!
I thought that overall she was a good teacher. I liked how she posted the PowerPoints online so that you could print out the notes and actually listen during class instead of rushing to write everything down. She gives a lot of extra credit. Keep up with studying and u'll be fine.
first day of class we took 4 pages of notes. this was my first day of college ever. and i was like whoa. nice woman but hard to keep up with. she moves through the material so fast and never really answered my questions so i could understnad what she wa talking about. she gave me the WP in her class even though i was failing.
I had her for Gen Chem and Physical Chem...I was a biochem major at SRU...she is the worst teacher there and can be very unhelpful, ****y, and treat you stupid (especially if you go to her office)
She has got to be one of the hardest profs. She makes you look stupid when you ask ?'s and she isn't helpful at all. If you want to take her class make sure you are ready to get a tutor. She goes through the material so fast. I ended up not learning from her but I taught myself from the book. Heck, maybe I should be a teacher.
Moves extremely fast.
She was unhelpful and thought that everyone should understand every word that came out of her mouth. If your thinking about taking her. Please reconsider. It's like your stuck in quicksand and she's standing over and shes glaring at you asking you why you can't get out. Don't you understand how to get out?
Two words...DON'T TAKE!!! She is the b****iest prof. She doesn't help you and makes you feel stupid when you ask questions. I had to go and get a tutor my 2nd week. She moves through the material ridiculously fast. Gives tons of quizzes which are 5 questions but somehow worth tons of points. If considering taking her, don't. Find someone else
Had her for organic chem lab in summer. Terrible. Flew through the directions and then ticked off when you don't catch something. Make a mistake and she is on you in a negative way. The chem department at SRU needs some big improvements.
Alright..if you have this professor....drop it! immediately....unless you have a good background with chem dont even think to take her...she moves extremely fast...rambles on and on about stuff that doesnt even make any sense at all.....quizzes are easy..but she likes to trick you on exams
Ok i feel like i need to defend Dr Zirpoli. I earned a B for the semester in this class with some but not outstanding effort. Most quizes are really easy. If you read the text and study the notes for the exams then you will do fine. She posts practice quizes and exams on blackboard which is very helpful! Honestly i wouldnt have wanted a dif prof
Anyone who has taken chemistry as SRU know that the entire department is completely incompetant and worthless. every one of them sucks. Dr. Zirpoli is the worst. she is an absolutley and utterly horrendous professor. You will not like chemistry after taking it at this university, and you will definitely not like Dr. Zirpoli. AVOID AVOID AVOID!
Had her for P-chem. She comes to class late daily and doesn't explain things. She spends half the class going over information that isn't relevant. Asking her questions outside of class is impossible, she expects you to be able to speak at her level. When she was asked to have a study session, she responded "They dont pay me enough" Nuff said
WORST professor I've ever had! Teaches off of PP/board. Tests are very difficult and address a lot of things she didn't teach. Don't try to get her to do anything she's not 100% obligated to do b/c she won't. Group problems/quizzes help grade slightly. Expect to teach yourself about 60% of the material.
The worst professor ever. Horrible. Unavailale. Mean. Condensending. She doesn't bother to care, so why should her students?

Posts-notes, studyguides, practice quizzes, practice exams on Bboard. Gives group problem sets which are easy. Online quizes. So all of you who say she isnt useful are on drugs, i dont no too many other profs who would do that. Tests are hard, class is fast, but a prof is not doing you a favor by making things easy just so you pass w/out learning
You can tell she loves the subject but she is almost too smart to teach basic chem. She doesn't know how to make it a basic level. when she explains things it is like she is talking to people who already have their PHD in chem and not college freshmen
HARDEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN! She reads you her powerpoints so if you can read then you are at equal level as her! Problem sets, practice exams, and practice quizzes are EXTREMELY easy compared to the real thing. The exams may seem easy but theyre NOT! She "doesnt have time" to give ex credit or a curve EVEN when the class averages are FAILING!
Zirpoli is such a nice and helpful professor! I would definitely take another class with her in a heart beat! I would also highly recommend others to take courses with her. A+ Professor!
HORRIBLE. The worst class I've ever taken. Drop this class. Seriously. And this isn't coming from a slacker student. I worked my butt off for a low B. I repeat, HORRIBLE. Her class averages are failing. Yet they keep her around? HORRIBLE.
She is honestly a terrible professor. Chemistry has never been my strong point, but she doesn't even attempt to cater to those who need extra help. You ask her a question in class and she gets annoyed. She flies through notes and it's difficult to keep up. I really don't know why she is even allowed to "teach". Don't take her.
Chemistry is hard, if you don't do extra work outside of class you're not going to do well. That about sums it up. Zirpoli does a good job of covering the material and forcing you to do work outside of class. Her exams aren't too hard either. If you do poorly in this class it's pretty much your own fault.
Not a good teacher if you need things actually explained. If you know what your doing when you go in, it might be a different story.
Chemistry is hard in general, and I was a A,B student in high school and had to work my but off to keep a decent grade, but if you do the homework, it'll help your grade if you're not doing hot on the tests. And if you need help GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS. She will help you out and clear things up, but YOU have to make time.
Such an easy grader. Only bad thing I can think of is that she gets off topic while lecturing. Other then that she's a great teacher and easy to talk too. Also she a nerd so chat her up about Sci-fi and comics!
Dr. Zirpoli is a good professor that really showed an interest in helping her students. She is always available during office hours and willing to help. Before tests she would give a pre-test and practice worksheets that really helped. Chemistry is a challenging class, but Dr. Zirpoli did a great job. I would recommend her.
Puts all notes online with a few blanks to fill in, in class. Puts up a lot of practice for tests, do those and tests are a breeze. Don't study and you will probably end up with a C or below. All in all, easy if your willing to do work.
Okay i understand chemistry is a hard subject, but since it is required for my major i had to have it. She does not understand this. She acts as if we were all chemistry majors and flys through the information. Buy the book and teach yourself is the only way you will do well in this class. Take anyone but her if possible.
Awful professor!! she flies through the information and doesn't teach anything. she doesn't curve even when 34 of the class gets below 60's. She's a horrible professor, I have zero respect for her as a teacher, she doesn't teach, she simply reads the power points. test's are extremely hard. she was the worst teacher I've ever had, do not take her!
Its this simple.. Do not ever take her..
Quite frankly I couldn't learn from her as a teacher. She is very boring in lecture, reads straight from PowerPoint. I just started skipping and teaching myself and my grade started coming up. I personally would buy the book and learn it myself, she's a nice lady and is more than willing to try and help. Just not my cup of tea
The first time I took her I slacked off and ended up with a D. The second time I worked my butt off and barely made it with a C. I just don't like the way she teaches. She flies through the PowerPoints and gives problems during class that you get 5 minutes to work through and gets clearly annoyed when people aren't finished. Teach yourself.
Was put in Zirpoli's class my first semester of college. Got an A but had to work my butt off for it. Really bad at explaining the PowerPoints and just flies through material without letting people ask for clarification. Class dropped from over 100 students to less than 50 after withdrawal. Survivable if you've had chem before. If not, it is tough.
There's no point in even showing up for class because you have to self teach yourself. But don't let that be a turn on for you for the class. Can never hear what she says when she goes over the power points and she spends approx. 3 sec. per slide "explaining". I just passed the class. If it was essential for my major, I would've dropped it.
DO NOT, (I repeat), DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! This is truly the hardest class I have ever taken and I am an A-B student. I'm in my 4th year of college and decided to wait to take my Chemistry. She reads exactly from power points, there is almost no point in going to class, and exams are the heaviest part of the grade. Impossible to learn.
Not clear in explaining things whatsoever. Thank god I took AP chem in high school last year or there is no way I would pass this class! Every time I attend class she manages to confuse me even more on easy topics that shouldn't be confusing. Would be better off teaching yourself. She is also not open to questions and answers them vaguely
Impossible to do well. Reads over each slide in about 45 seconds. You are better off trying to learn on your own. Do not take this unless you're a chemistry major. Homework is not helpful whatsoever, and you are graded so heavily on the tests. Even if you do well on all homework, it won't even matter.
Don't bothering taking this class unless you WANT to fail. You will not learn anything with this teacher.
Dr. Zirpoli teaches a hard subject, so obviously a lot of people will complain about not doing well. However, she goes over the slides very quickly and does not take long to explain topics which need explanation. Her tests were hard and she recommended we spent 3-5 hours per class period studying the material which most in my class didn't do.
Dr. Zirpoli has a bad reputation on campus for being the hardest Chemistry I professor. Although this is true, if you put in the work, you will get the grade you deserve. I put at least 3 hours into this class for each hour I was in class, and that allowed me to achieve a 97%. Read the book and put in the work. Take this class very seriously.
I did not pass this class. I passed Chemistry 2 Lab with an A as well as Chem 1 lecture and lab. I went to her office hours several times and she was not helpful at all. Every time I went she did not even acknowledge me when I talked to her. Homework took at minimum 6 hours to complete. I worked my butt off to try to pass this class and didn't.
I would not take her unless you want to fail. I spent at least 4-5 hours on each homework assignment for it to be worth 5% of my overall grade. I spend hours studying on tests just to do bad because her tests are impossible. She makes you feel dumb if you go to her for extra help, and lectures way to fast. I would never take this professor again.
Dr. Zipoli seems like she is approachable, but will just give you dirty looks when you don't understand something or have a question. There is not much wiggle room to mess up in the class so STUDY STUDY STUDY. I would not recommend her. Save the time and find someone that wants to see you do well and learn the material.
If you are immature and won't study you will not pass her class. She is extremely fair and gives the grade you deserve. Just do not be lazy and do the homework and learn the material and you will easily pass. There is no trick questions on her test. Everything on the test is what you will learn.
Dr. Zirpoli is tough don't get me wrong, but I liked her class. She makes you work for it with weekly homework and quizzes on every chapter. She is a very sweet and caring lady if you are having trouble just ask her! I highly recommend printing off notes she provides and follow along during lecture.
Was impossible to pass this class. She straight up tells you she expects you to spend 3-5 hours on each homework assignment (that's only 8% of your grade) and is rude and gives dirty looks when she has to re explain something that you don't understand. I studied so hard but her I never got above a 69 on her exams. Try another professor.
I have Susan for chem 2 online which has been the worst experience of my life, and I recieved a high B in chem 1. I spent more time studing and trying to just pass this class than I did on all 5 of my classes during last semester. Gives quizes that have unreachable time limits which really makes the class impossible. AVIOD AT ALL COSTS!!!!!
Print the notes and follow along. Do not expect an easy A. Do the homework and make sure you understand it because the quizzes and exams are similar, there are no tricks. She gives a lot of work but it's all helpful. Don't expect to learn too much from her lectures because she mostly reads off her slides. Youtube is helpful
This is a challenging class for anyone especially if you don't already have a good foundation for the subject. Teaches extremely fast and in a monotone voice. Most of your grade is test based so if you don't test well, it will be extremely difficult. Her office hours are limited and not helpful at all. AVOID IF YOU CAN!
Dr. Zirpoli is a HARD PROFESSOR! Pay attention and do the work to pass her class. She is not an easy A, and makes you work for it with tests and quizzes. Never curves except for final. Tips: Attend every class, do the work, study a lot Her teaching methods do not work for everyone. I wouldn't recommend taking her if you aren't forced to.
If you dont show up, dont apply yourself, and dont ask questions when you are confused you WILL NOT PASS. You might want to look into getting a tutor prior to starting this class if you know Zirpoli is your professor. GOODLUCK
I had her for lab and she wasnt bad but not great. She just expected us to always know what was going on when she wasnt clear. Not that difficult of a class but she was confusing sometimes.
Dr. Zirpoli is a very nice person but as soon as she goes into teaching mode, it's game over. Lectures are not really helpful as she just reads from the slides. The weighted system for her class is completely unfair as 3 exams (+final) is worth almost 75% of your grade. She never curves exams or quizzes except for the final.
Dr. Zirpoli's class is hard, but not impossible to do well in. Watch her videos, it's the only way to understand what's going on. Her own exams aren't super difficult, a lot of the problems on them are based on the group problem sets done in class, so make sure to go over those problem sets when studying. She curved the final too which was nice.
She is very hard does not care abt you and flies through all of her slides she made my semester awful and anxiety filled.
Could not understand a thing this woman was teaching. She goes way too fast and acts like we are all aspiring chem majors. I dropped her class before she got the chance to put an F on my transcript. Unless you can teach the material to yourself, good luck.
She really isn't that bad, if even somewhat smart or willing to put even the slightest bit of time in and you'll do fine. Most of the people don't do their homework and don't pay attention in class so they struggle but if you aren't intellectually challenged you'll be fine.
Dr. Zirpoli wasn't the best. She was nice, but the entirety of the class was her flying through PowerPoint's, assigning group problems sets that had a 50/50 chance of actually being related to the PowerPoint, Pearson HW problems, and her practice exams were not helpful for studying the actual exam. If you can avoid her, avoid her.
Although at times this class can be fast paced, as long as you put in time outside of class to understand the material you will have no issues. She offers a lot of resources to help study for exams. There are also bonus point opportunities and assignments other than exams to help boost your grade.
Don't expect to learn anything in class since she expects everyone to read and understand the concepts before class. Each exam is worth 15%, and there are 4 exams plus a Final. The first 2 exams weren't that hard, but the last 2 most of the classes didn't get above a C. If you don't do good on the exams, you cannot pass the class no matter what.
Good luck lol
Her grading was so precise and annoying. She goes way too fast during lectures and reads right from her slides and they're so crowded and busy. Maybe I just suck at chemistry, but clearly I'm not the only one who had a hard time in her class
Horrible professor Im sorry but all she did was read the powerpoint and she didnt really help on her office hours.
Every class was 45 minutes of slideshow where she explained very little and just sped through the slides. Chemistry is hard but with shouldn't be this hard. I spent the class periods reading the slides and taking notes and pretty much taught myself the whole course. Good luck.
