This class was so easy if you go to class because she pretty much told us the answers for the test on the review day because no one ever showed up.
If you go to class, take notes, and listen you can get an A from her. Easy professor, although hard to understand at times, I would recommend her!
Very easy class if you take notes... very easy grading scale. Hard to understand he accent though. Impossible to do poorly in this class!
Lets put it this way 83% and up is an A. All the tests are open book, only bad thing is her accent. Whoa.
Worthless class, worthless teacher. Her accent is a terrible hinderance, and the subject material is useless. Thank God the class is so easy....
too easy of a class, 3x30 open book curved tests , thats it, you have to be dumb to not pass.her accent is pretty harsh, but id go to class cuz the notes that she puts up helps you, or atleast read the books. so 45 out of 90 gets you a B, sound hard?
This is far by the easiest class I have ever taken. 3 tests, open book open notes, with 30 questions of true and false. And she is the only person in the room "supervising"...so sit next to someone you know. Easy A..oh yah..84% for an A 50% f
She is REALLY hard to understand. However, it is a very easy class with useless information that you will never use again. Try and take an auditorium class if you can, then you dont have to go to class everyday.
Very difficult to understand and although an auditorium class is nice for not having to go the microphone only ampliphies and echoes her harsh Italian accent. Easy grading but a WORTHLESS class- too bad its required.
She is impossible to understand, her accent is extremely thick and just normally she is difficult to understand. Once you add the microphone it is impossible. There is no point in going to class because even if you do go you can't understand a word.
She is difficult understand, but besides that the class is a cake walk. the tests were true/false, they were only 3 of them for a total of 100 questions, and a curve makes it all the better
worthless class...no point in going cuz u don't understand her and the reading sucks too. talk to a tutor and u will get an A
She is IMPOSSIBLE to understand. The grading scale is unbelievably easy. Thank God or the class would be impossible!
kind of hard to understand, but overall a good class... *i found that if you sit in the front of the class it is easier to understand her.
I think people are making bad judgement about her accent , and the way she teaches.Overal she is a very good teacher , and her explanations are clear and easily understandable.
Good teacher, material is good, sit near the front of class and you can understand her fairly well, tests are kind of hard, but grading scale makes up for it.
Good teacher but can be hard to understand because of her strong accent. The concepts are kind of hard to grasp and the tests are not hard but not easy either. I love the grading scale because if you don't understand one or two things you won't fail.
prob a good class if it was worth going tto
Although she was hard to understand in class, access to the notes online totally made up for it, and were helpful on the test. The tests are pretty easy, if you have decent notes to work with. Understanding prof when spoken to in person. =)
i never went to class showed up on test days cheated and got an A- in class thank you America!
Easy. Only 3 class periods a semester needed to pass. Nice curve.
You can get 5 right out of 30 on her test and still pass! Just get the notes from online, you can use notes and the book on the test. The class is huge so she won't notice if you happen to look at your neighbor's test sheet;)
You can't understand a word she says. If you actually want to learn anything don't take her. If you want an easy A then take her. Class is a joke.
One word: Patheitc.
Fairly easy class. Tests weren't too bad. Take it from her when you have to take the core class.
Incredibly easy class. I never went. Whenever I did go, I just fell asleep. I ended up missing 1 of the 3 tests, and still passed with a C+. How pathetic is that?! (I missed the test b-cuz of a family emergency, i didn't sleep in or anything)
All I can say is: "What the hell did she just say?"
Yes, I agree with the comment below. Go to class for the review and copy your neighbor on the test day and you'll be all right. Don't buy the books--waste of money...oh, so is the class.
I swear this woman is Italian. But she says she's from Argentina. She's impossible to udnerstand so might as well not go to class. 3 total tests with an insanely easy curve. I never went and still got a B. Take her for the core class.
This is what your learn in the class...What, Who, I can't hear her!, Is she speaking English?
Ok: If you want an easy A take her class for your core Phil. Only 3 tests (30:30:40 pts); all open book/notebook. Very generous curve. 87% and up = A. Dialect is hard to understand so attending class is pointless.
She's very hard to understand. If you go to class and take the notes, you should do very well in the class.
There is no way that you will be able to understand her, I went to class on the days of the tests only. You spend the whole time trying to figure out what she is saying because she doesnt speak ENGLISH!
Great grading curve! Shes kind of hard to understand but if you Copy her notes from the overhead you will do fine in her class.
Easiest class ever. Cant understand her but I showed up 4 times (For the tests) and got a B in the class
in class you just practice for the test so if you don't understand just go to class untill you do and then you can just go on the 3 exams. she talks about the same thing for at least 3 days so go every third day
EASY!!!!!! Like everyone else said. Take it for an easy A.
Take this class, go or not go, either way it is easy.
She is very hard to understand at first, but if you can get past that, she has a very easy class!! You don't really have to go every day either!
VERY VERY EASY CLASS.. TAKE IT FOR A GPA RAISER!!!!VERY HARD TO UNDERSTAND
She spells "if" as "iff" and "haul" as "hawl, haal, and huul". To sum it up,dumb as it gets. Take the class for an easy grade!
hey easy class A+ kkkkkkkk i have nevery go this class , i also get A all my exams. hey if you need high Gpa take this class '
This class is the most pointless class EVER. I NEVER go and it is so easy. The teacher is pretty nice, but the class itself is just stupid. Too bad everyone has to take it!
Very easy class. 80% is an A. Her tests are so easy because you can use your notes and anything you have for the test. All you get is 3 tests for a grade and they are really easy. At first she is really hard to understand but then after a while you get used to it and it becomes easier.
Easy Class. Nice Prof. Those who say they don't show up but get A's most likely are cheating off their neighbors. Show up to class, take notes and organized them for tests. You should be fine.
She's not nearly as difficult to understand as some people are making it out to be. Also if you take the time to talk to her she is very helpful (or talk to the tutors). Pretty interesting class, exceptionally easy. Take this for your PHIL 194 core requirement.
Boring!! Easy, but you never have to go to class! 3 tests and that is it. Very hard to understand.
The worst I have ever take. Don't take it with her.
She's very nice and friendly, but it's hard to understand her. She goes over things over and over again, too much. Her grading scale is very helpful. You'd have to actually try to fail this class. If you don't really care about learning that much in this gen ed, then take this with her.
she is quite hard to understand, but if you pay attention you can usually hear what she is trying to say, a VERY friendly grading scale, if i recall correctly, 44 percent will still get you a C. If you attend class, you should do quite well, open note/open book tests.
WOW This class is super easy, hard to understand accent. Thank god for power point and internet. Three multiple guess/true false tests open book and open note. No need to show up to class because notes are online just print those. Grading scale is friendly too, about 40% for a C. Not to shabby
Went 4 times and was 2% away from an A. So easy its rather sad. Simply get the online notes or get a neighbor or friends notes which you can use on all 3 true false tests. You dont have to go just get the notes and take the tests. Very hard to understand her speaking so its horrid to attend anyway
This is an easy class. Barely went to class simply because I couldn't barely understand her but went to the tutors for help and completely understood it all then.
can't understand her
She's pretty hard to understand, but okay if you get used to it. Fairly easy class, but I'm dumb, so hey.
Her teaching style is very direct and complete. She seems incredibly intelligent and is as easy ask questions as walking to the front of the class. Not too difficult but it is definately worth listening to what she has to say.
She was a very nice lady and she attempted to get the students interested in what she was teaching. I took her class in the summer and it was very easy. If you are not concerned about learning about philosophy this is a great class.
This class was an easy A. She offers lots of extra credit and you dont have to go to class except for test days. She is very hard to understand because she carries a deep rough accent.
It is very hard to uderstand her because of her accent. The class is very easy. I didn't study at all and I got an A.
Very hard to understand. The class seemed to have no point. I'm not sure that I learned anything, but I got an A. If you want an easy A and don't want to go to class, take it.
This class is so easy. i only went to class the first day and couldnt understand her so i havent gone since except for tests. she is impossible to understand but the class is an easy A.
Easiest class ever! I have a better grade than other phil classes and only go on test days, 20 pt tests with lost of extra credit opps!!
This class was so easy. I hardly went to class and I got an A+. Just go to the extra credit sessions...it's a guaranteed A.
I don't go to class,it very boring but it very very easy.
incredibly easy..the only time i went to class was for the extra credit sessions and for the test and i got an a. she's hard to understand, but the tests are open book, open note. there are 5 tests worth 20 pts, and she gives you the opportunity to get 15 pts extra credit. easy a, take the class.
What an easy class. Open book and open notes for the 5 tests we had plus she gave out numerous extra credit oppurtunities! I only went on the extra credit and test days and have over a 100% in the class! Take this class for an easy A, but don't expect to learn much.
Holy crap, can't understand a word she says! Very easy class, open notes on every test. Don't bother going to regular class days, just go to the e.c. presentorials every week and do the extra credit take home quiz.
This class sucked...she has a terrible accent and you can't understand her. Easy class though...guarenteed at least a B. Take the class...but not with her.
I thought she was great, the analogies she used where not only helpful but humorous. She was very kind and was very helpful.
She was sometimes hard to understand, but the class was really easy! It did not require much work at all and the book super small and could be used on all tests. I didn't learn all that much but it was an easy A and attendance wasnt required.
Very Easy... Went only 5 times (on test days) and got a B. There are 5 open note/open book exams worth 20 points. It is next to impoosible to fail the class. Gives many extra credit opportunities!
Easiest class I've ever taken. I got an A+ and only showed up to the extra credit sessions and test days. The class was worth 100 points (5 tests worth 20 points each) and you had the opportunity to get 24 extra credit points. Take this class for an easy A but don't expect to learn much. The lectures are a waste of time and she wrote the book.
Took this professor a few years ago. Looking back at times I find myself bored, I just think of this professor and suddenly its not that bad.
Best sleep I got all semester INCLUDING in my bed. Why is phil 194 even in the philosophy department. Has nothing to do w/ philosophy rather is about reasoning. Hated her class but found her accent fairly easy compared to others. Most pointless required class at SCSU and she taught as if she knew this.
HEAVY ACCENT
she only believes what she has written in her txt bk there is no option for argument in her findings and no explanation. if she cant answer your question she doesn't.
If you take this class sit near the middle or the front to try and pick up anything at all, then read the book to piece together what you missed
I'd take her! You don't need to come to class because she has you read out of the book she wrote and then in class she just reviews exactly what you read, only 3 tests last test=final, she's pretty nice I personally thought the subject matter was pretty boring but it was a pretty easy class if you did the work
Pros: 4 open book fairly easy tests, no papers, no semester length final, attendance is not required, extra credit exists, shes nice. Cons: cant understand her, didnt learn a thing! but all in all- take her for an easy A
If you have any problem with understanding accents, dont take her. She teaches directly out of her text she wrote, easy. Open book tests, extra credit available, ppt slides on web. Overall, nice.
Easy Class either go or just read the book. She goes over everything so you don't have to read the book. She's really nice, but it can be hard to stay focused. Overall good teacher and would recommend her.
Very easy class. 3 tests and you get to use your book and notes on tests. don't have to go to class, it's pointless, she just goes over the book. you get extra credit for going to the tutor. go to class the first day and then only the days before the test to know what the test is on and you will be fine! That is all i did and received an A in class
She only had 3 tests and all scan-tron. I thought she was an excellent professor.
She has a really heavy accent that is hard to understand. She is NOT helpful at all. She wrote the book so don't argue with her. Book and Notes are allowed with every exam and final was insanely hard. A lot of people went through the last part guessing. Very confusing class and incredibly boring!!!! Totally pointless but has to be taken.
Latin American Philosophy is a boring subject. Prof is very knowledgable (she wrote the book) but usually just lectures the entire hour. Whole class was worth 100 points. 1 group project(20pts), 2 open note/book multiple choice tests, 20pts of participation. Overall, extremely easy class. I would reccomend it.
Class is extremely boring. She wrote the book and her lectures are word for word from the book. I havent gone to class for a month and are acing the texts from reading the short chapters. Very thick accent hard to understand. Gives extra credit if you go to tutor.
Boring class early in the morning. Bring coffee to ur class or u will be snoring ;)an easy class & gibs Xtra credit if u see tutor. Quizes are book related. Easy grades but boring class. Hard to understand her accent. Take it if you can study on ur own.
Lets just say I taught myself! Her accent is ridiculous and I never went to class after the first 3 weeks and I still ended up with a B. She teaches right out of the textbook which she wrote. If you read you will get an A on the quizes...they are on D2L too...easy! Easiest 8am class I had that I never attended!
Overall I thought this class was very easy. She wrote her own book so when you take the test you can look up all of the answers. She offers a tutor each week so if you dont understand something there is help. You dont have to be at class but if you look over the chapter and need help with it just go to class and she'll go over it.
Honors Latin American Phil. Buy the 2 books she wrote because you will need them for her 2 open-note and open-book tests. Go to the class before the test and she will give you all the notes you need. 1 easy group project. Rest of the classes are all discussion (her talking). Her accent is funny but not difficult to understand. Very nice teacher!
Her lectures are dry and painful to listen to. But she considers them to be class discussions. I had a tough time with her accent, but it didn't matter because the 2 tests we had were open book, open note. Easy to get through just to pass a requirement, not if you're actually passionate about Latim American philosophy.
Couldn't understand a word, never went to class and got a B+, everything is on d2l. Easy A
I would not recommend this class online. It is very difficult to understand many of her quizzes. Too many possible answers for each question. Took this class with the book open and still cannot come up with the correct answers on many of the quizzes. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. Everyone that did got 100% for that assignment. Worth the time on those.
Very easy class. Went to the first two classes and never went back. Your grade is based of 10 open book quizzes. If you can work on your own you should get an A.
Accent impossible to understand - sat in 6 different places in auditorium to try to get a good angle to decipher. Stopped going after 2 weeks. Quizzes straight forward, online with 2 attempts each. she does offer some extra credit. Grading is best 10 quizzes out of 14, so I was done with the class a month before finals.
SUPER easy. She's somewhat difficult to understand, but you don't need to go to pass the quizzes. There's 15 quizzes, only the 10 best count, and if you actually go to class to take the quizzes (almost straight out of the book and D2L power points), she'll give you 3 free answers. There's lots of extra credit opportunity too.
I have learned many things from her and I think she is the best professor in st.cloud state. She will help you whenever you need anything. Many local students doesn't like her accent as they are not diversed at all. She teaches well and if you read the book you will do good.
A very nice lady, who teaches a very easy class. She's very helpful when you talk to her and offers a lot of extra credit. It's hard to get lower than an A.
Attendance isn't mandatory and your grade is based on the best 10 of 14 online quizzes. The quizzes are open book from the book she wrote, so they're pretty simple. Offers lots of extra credit. Went to two classes and still got an A, just didn't learn anything.
Uh not much to say one of the easiest classes I have had. No need to attend class ever. All quizzes and there all online. On a teaching stand point not very good cant understand her. But if you want a A take her.
Take with this prof. Class is super boring, but attendance is not mandatory and the class is based on 14 quizes (which you get to use your notes on) and the lowest 4 gets dropped. Super easy class. Easy A! Since everyone has to take this class take with her!
Take her if you want an easy A!!!
Insanely easy class. Attendance is not mandatory, but occasionally you get extra credit for showing up. She teaches from her book, and all the quizzes are online open book and you get 2 attempts. Easy A to get on them. Only negative thing would be the accent which can be incredibly hard to understand when she slurs her words together.
Very easy A! Attended class twice and got an A. All quizzes, lecture notes, review q, tips are online. Easiest class for goal 2. Take it. She is very hard to understand in class!
She is a very nice lady but is SO difficult to understand. Her accent is very thick. This class is not difficult, but it does require work.
She is the best Prof for Phil 194 in St.Cloud State University.
Easy class. All quizzes are online, open book, with two attempts. She gives extra credit for attendance and tutoring occasionally.
Susana is a really nice professor. Her class is based off of quizzes and there is no final. She drops 4 of the 14 quizzes and 85% is an "A" in her class. She is really helpful. The book is a must buy because you will need it for all the quizzes and some of the extra credit. Students don't credit her enough which is the sad part. BTW, yes EZ "A".
Easiest class I have ever taken! Only 10 quizzes online with two attempts each. Attendance is extra credit. I had this class on Tuesday and Thursdays and only went on Thursdays because she gave out quiz answers on these days. FInd a friend in the class and do the quizzes together and you'll get an A. BUY THE BOOK THOUGH, need for the quizzes.
85% for an A - 14 quizzes, can retake each one twice and she throws out the 4 lowest quiz grades. EASY A!
Easiest class ever! Don't have to go to class and graded only on 10 of 14 quizzes. Also 85% is an A! Definitely recommend.
Easy A! She has a thick accent, but otherwise she is the best phil 141 professor. I have heard about other professors and she is by far the easiest. Only 14 quizes, 4 of which are dropped. Attendance is for random extra credit and you can retake the quizes if you didn't do well the first time. Don't let her accent stop you from taking this class!
Easiest class ever. I went to her class literally twice, and received an A. There are 14 quizzes, two of which were dropped, plenty of extra credit, and you only need 85% to get an A. There are 2 attempts each quiz, and all quizzes are open from the beginning so you can finish the class early, which I was done before Thanksgiving Break!
easiest class ever attendance is not mandatory. she has an ascent tho
Honestly the easiest class ever.. 14 online quizzes is the whole class. 2 attempts on each one. Drops lowest 2. Gives you answers to them on Fridays. Attendance for extra credit, also extra credit for going to the tutor. Can barely understand her accent though. Honestly have to try to fail this class.. 85% is an A so easily attainable
If you go to class and read the book, you will do very well.
There is a quiz due on D2L every Sunday, but you don't have to complete all of them. Attendance is taken and graded. You get a ton of extra credit for meeting with a tutor, so the class is almost impossible to fail. Her accent is hard to follow, but you get used to it and it becomes easier to understand.
Definite Easy A. The professor is nice, but her accent can be difficult to understand. No homework, only an online quiz every week. The quizzes are super easy, just make sure you have the book to refer to, plus you can take the them up to 2 times. Attendance is graded. A ton of easy extra credit opportunities .
She is very helpful and easy to get along. Very smart and very specific about what she needs from you.
In the auditorium without a mic. Strong accent. Attendance required all of the sudden in the middle of the semester. Quizzes can be taken anytime. 12 required out of 14. Quizzes were pretty hard even if you read the book. Only reason I passed was the help of friends. All I can say is, get ready for a boring class, and make sure you have connections
This class was super easy to pass. I must say she is very to understand in a large lecture hall with her thick South American accent but it is easy to get by. Make friends so that you can share the textbook instead of buying it. There were no exams, only weekly quizzes and all of the answers were in the textbook and notes. No other assignments.
Powerpoint then test weekly. nothing too tough
She takes attendance randomly throughout the semester. If she calls your name to answer a question and your not there, points are docked. Material can be confusing but she is very helpful and understanding and offers extra credit for visiting tutors. Not much homework, no test either, but there are quizzes about every week, open book and note.s
Good professor. Always got help from her assistant. You need the textbook and you need to read.
This professor knows exactly what she's talking about but has a hard time explaining in a way for students who have never heard of the material.
She's awesome. Thick accent and she randomly calls on you which kind of puts you on the spot. 14 quizzes due throughout the semester - you can take them twice and there's An hour limit. No final, extra credit for meeting with a tutor. 85% is an a. You need the textbook, all answers are online. Take it with her if you can :)
She leaves it up to you. You put in the world and you'll pass. you decide how you do
This professor takes to much time away from participation and just strictly lectures. throughout the course i watched over half the class stop coming.
Outlined the expectations clearly in the beginning of the class, has a wide grading range (85 and up for an A), weekly discussions, LOTS of reading the textbook, which was rather confusing, and she is one of the authors so hard to disagree what what is in the book. But if you put in the work you will do well.
Took Phil 194 Online over the summer and hated it. Book is hard to understand and she wrote it so good luck trying to argue against it. Even taking the quizzes while looking at the book would only score 20/25. Confusing. Has great extra credit opportunities to make up points. Take it online if you can I hear its better then the class. Good Luck.
She is one of the best philosophy professors in SCSU. Her South American background really puts the subject in perspective. She is very kind and willing to give you an A just for throwing out your opinion. I would highly advise to take her class.
Attendance is required. She gives everyone 60 points for attendance for the whole semester. She takes 5 points per no show. 2 exams worth 30 points, both are online. She offers a group presentation for extra credit which is worth 30 points, super easy and she will interrupt and do most the talking for you. Teaches out of book, I never bought it.
The class itself was easy, but the material was often hard to understand. Lots of the chapters layer on top of the other so if you don't have a good understanding one week, the next week will probably be even harder. She wrote the textbook too so... good luck. There's a quiz due each week that you have 2 attempts on and a few discussions.
Easy online class. All of the answers for the quizzes are all over the internet! There is lots of extra credit opportunities. I would recommend taking this course online rather than in person.
Since this course was online we didn't interact with the professor very much--mostly just a TA. But the content was well laid out and the expectations were clear. Course is made up of weekly quizzes, discussions forums every other week, and 3 papers. She was great about notifying us about changes and posted updates on D2L.
Textbook is useful. If online: camera is required or you will be removed. Prof rambles and can get off topic during lectures, class feels extra long. She just reads off a powerpoint. Discussion posts, writing project (1/4 required), and quizzes.
I took PHIL194 online and it was easy. We had a teaching assistant for the semester so that might've helped when it came to the grading. If you take this class online, you have to do a discussion post and quiz every week. You have 2 shots for quiz too so that helped. You can also get away with not reading much but do note that it's her own book.
Took summer, fully online. Can get to be a lot of work if you take it summer term, but most of the work is easy, just a bit tedious. Professor gave me extra points once simply because she liked my writing. Good class to get your Critical Thinking lib ed done.
Class consisted of a weekly reading, discussion post, and quiz. Textbook was challenging to understand, which made correlating quizzes and discussion posts hard to complete. Quizzes did have two attempts, and discussions will receive full points if all criteria are followed. Grading is fairly easy, but content was hard to understand from book.
I took this class online and it was ok. Never really got to connect with her and her TA was in charge of all the assignments. Easy A though because anything between 85-100 she considered an A in the class because she grades you on so few assignments. Just a weekly quiz and a total of 6 discussion posts along with one writing assignments.
