great teacher to learn from. weekly quizzes and four exams and a paper due at the end of the semester. the class isn't hard if you go everyday and pay attention.

Gaskins isn't the greatest of teachers, but she is a really nice lady. She LOVES **** beverages and always talks about drinking(especially Sam Adams's)!

fun class, good sense of humor. Our class loved her. Grades a little tough on the essay part of tests but the scantron and map quizes make up for it. Easy and fun class, recommend this teacher anyday

It was a good class brought a lot of on-the-topic yet detached subjects to the students and created a good class atmosphere making you want to be there. Sam Adams is a true patriot =)

Awesome teacher and I would recommend her anyday. Loves history and will answer all of your questions. Just don't get her started on WWII!! She loves that war. Test are easy if you study the study guide. Take good notes and you'll be totally fine!

Beside the periodic exams and weekly quizzes, this course is interesting. Not only is Dr Gaskins knowledgeable in history and she is helpful if you have any questions. If you're up to the reading and brief writing portion on the exams, you'll be fine.

there's a lot of reading and memorizing in this class. but since she's such a great professor and her lectures are so interesting (even if you hate history) that everything will stay in your head so you won't have to study that much.

Her lectures are very interesting and she's funny too. Her test are a bit hard and tricky. She puts questions that are straight out of the book. The final was about 10 chapter long. The class consist of 5 quizes that are designed to make you keep up with the reading. I enjoyed her class but barely got by with a B.

Such a sweet lady, bought me coffe one day on campus. Lectures are interesting and not at all boring. The class over all is challenging but 20% of your grade is participation...so that can help you or hurt you. Prepare to learn a lot!

Interesting lady. Quizzes and exams were fair. I can still remember things she lectured about even after the class is over. Only complaints: lectures were sometimes unorganized, sometimes she talked too fast, also requires 60-70 pages of reading per week! Overall, a great professor.

Great professor. A bit unorganized during lecture, but generally a good experience. Tests are fair. Not too much other work, taking notes is a must if you don't want to read too much. She is a very sweet and funny lady, I liked her a lot. Very helpful.

I NEVER read the book and I got a C. I bought the wrong book to begin with. The quizes are fair, test are tricky, and exams are alot of work. Over all shes a fun teacher. DON'T slack off (like I did for a while) because it will come back and get you!

Great professor. Class is easy if you show up, take notes, and try. She gives you good information as well as fun facts which keep you interested. Her maps and quizzes are fair, which means easy points. The extra reading was pretty interesting. She is very approachable. Recommended

She is a personable and quirky instructor, however, she likes to cuss in class. Very knowledgable, and willing to engage in class questions/discussion. Helpfull and fun, attendence is a must for a good grade. Would take her again, good choice of instructor.

Go to class, take notes & you will pass. 95% of test questions come from lectures. All tests are mc with a few short answers and map identification. One book essay test, read book=easy A. She gives 4 maps as hw, easiest 200 points you will get. Her stories are amazing and she is hilarious. I hated missing class. You will love her, don't take anyone else!

Damn i musta really slacked off in this class. Well you can't really blame a person for falling asleep @ 12:00 noon while the forum is nice and cozy. But yeah about that "King Leopold's Ghost" u gotta read it cuz she expects a lot from the essay. Don't be like me and BS ur way through.

Really good teacher, but her tests and quizzes are not easy enough that you don't have to study! I did that in the beginning of the semester and I had to really work hard towards the end to get my A-. My only critique is that she gave a huge test on King Leopold's Ghost and didn't give a lot of info on what the test was like but I'd say take her

The best teacher for history. History is usually boring and puts you to sleep but she keeps the lectures fun and interesting. I hated history before her class but now I actually like it. Tests are kinda hard but just study. she gives study guides so its helpful

Best history professor EVER. Friendly, helpful, funny, kind, everything a teacher should be. Unlike other professors, she actually seems to remember what it was like to be a student and sympathizes. Take her class and you won't be disappointed.

Best history teacher around. She is so amusing and funny and keeps you interested. Her cussing and lame humor made it fun. Keep attendance. Quizzes are a lil tricky but very capable. Tests arent very hard just the map part. She scales the class very well so if u mess up in one area, other areas can balance it out. TAKE HER HIGLY RECOMMEND!

Without a doubt, one of the single best professors I have ever had. Has enormous passion for history, making it enjoyable even for history-haters. Makes an effort to get to know you and help you in any way she can. I'd recommend her anytime to anyone. It's a fairly easy class IF you pay attention and take notes. Wonderful, wonderful person.

AMAZING professor. I'm not a great test taker, but she gives out map assignments and quizes, which usually bump up your grade. She's HILARIOUS. Shes very personable and has a heart. She understands that students have other classes that they need to study for. I definitely reccomend taking her class!

Absolutely hilarious teacher with a great personality. Only homework are the map assignments which are very easy and worth a big part of your grade. tests are moderately challenging, but nothing that she hasn't clearly lectured on. i loved going to this class and i would recommend it to anyone.

She's an awesome teacher! The only one that I would suggest for History 110B. The class isn't that hard. Four map assignments and you read a novel. She's hilarious and approachable. Take her! Take her! TAKE HER!

Love her!!! Made class interesting and fun. always found a way to keep your attention. Made everything clear. Gives you a study guide for every test and repeats over and over what you need to know for the test. Don't really use the main txt book. Do what she tells you and you'll pass.

Professor Gaskins is hilarious. She keeps the class interesting, especially since my class was at 9am. Her notes are easy, but make sure you study them for online quizzes. Really easy class, just make sure to read King Leopold's Ghost thoroughly. otherwise take this class for the entertainment :)

Really funny and kept the class laughing. Her lectures are easy to understand and she makes light of a lot of boring subjects. Her tests are easy if you take the time to look over notes. Not an easy B but a hard A. I wish she taught multiple subjects, I really liked her.

Oh my goodness! I loved this class!! One of my favorites of the semester! She is pretty easy and very laid back but you do have to read the novel, if you do not then you will not pass the test! other than that she was a good teacher and pretty funny! tests were easyish...as long as you studied.

Best history teacher i could ever imagine. She is so helpful, and going to her office hours helped so much. She wants to know her students, so be outgoing and meet with her. You must read the 300 page book she assigns. She offers lots of points to raise your grade. A+ teacher!

Did not need textbook at all, but it is necessary to read King Leopold's Ghost for there is a test just for that book. Very fun and enthusiastic professor, attend all her classes, take good notes on the lecture and be meticulous when doing map work.

Gaskins is by far the most entertaining prof at CSUF. She's got jokes! Her class is very straight forward. If you attend and take notes you're good. But, be forewarned, you HAVE to read king leopold in order to pass the quiz. Other than that, the quiz and exams are everything she lectures about. I'd say this class is an easy B.

You don't need the textbook. but you need to read KLG. Her quizzes are based off of her powerpoints.. I wish I realized this on her first three quizzes -_- If she posts up the powerpoint, you're in luck cuz you just have to CTRL F the keywords of the question on the quiz on the powerpoint and you'll find the answer.

Take her! My favorite professor by far. She makes class really fun and if you go to her for help with papers she will help you. You have to read KLG. She's also flexible with due dates and asks if we should extend the date sometimes. So funny and helpful and does a great job of really teaching. I can't stress it enough, take her class!!

Over all this class was fun. This professor will help you in everything is just that she takes a long time to post the grades on blackboard. Other than that you have to read KLG Take good notes and you'll do fine.

Attendance is logged (almost daily). Online quizzes every couple of weeks. Maps are assigned. Gotta take lots of notes for this class. Tests are fair, if you study at least a little bit. King Leopold's Ghost exam was very simple (having read the book). Final exam was a breeze. Overall, take her!

This teacher is amazing! I love her personality. Very nice and funny. Cusses all the time, which adds to the humor. She will have you read King Leopold's Ghost. You will have maps, which are super easy to do. There are online quizzes and exams. Just study for everything and you will be fine. She lectures with powerpoint and explains evrything.

I love this professor- even though she is picky about writing, she knows how to connect with students and make them better writers. Very outgoing and knows when to cut slack if she knows you care and try. Class meetings are never really more than an hour to hour and a half. A few assignments from books in beginning. 20-25pg paper= final.

A good teacher. Class is fun as well as her teaching. Attendance mandatory. Two map quizes. 3 Book reviews. 3 test. 3 map assignments Only advice I have is to study the maps. If you don't know them you're screwed. Also make sure you study for the id questions. Essay questions are worth the most on her test though

Her classes require you to actually think, but she makes class so much and fun and incredibly interesting that this is not hard to do. You must be able to write, and write well. Study guides assist for quizes and tests. Again, a very fun and educational experience with her.

Professor Gaskins is THE best teacher I have ever taken at CSUF so far. She's funny, amazing, kind, and she kicks ass! I'll try my best to take her again next semester. She makes class so interesting, making you NOT want to miss it. I love her and this was my favorite class. If you're a History major, you NEED to take her at least once!

She is a fun professor, but her tests are unintentionally difficult. She is very helpful and compassionate, she wants everybody to pass. Typical day is signing the role sheet and listening to lectures she posts online. 2 map assignments and a book assignment. 3 tests based on lecture and 1 based on a book you have to read separately.

Amazing professor! She's extremely helpful, fun, and witty. I've taken her before and the second time around is just as great. HIST300B consists of writing a huge research paper and working on it throughout the semester. Attendance is mandatory, but we don't always meet up. Overall, wonderful professor who you should at least take once at CSUF!

The tests are relatively easy, as long as you attend class and pay attention to the power points. The map portion of the tests are slightly more difficult. She is extremely nice and quite funny.

She is a WONDERFUL teacher. I didn't have to take a single note in her class. She makes everything seem like a story. Theres only 3 assignments and they are fairly easy. She goes over questions thats going to be on the quiz & lets you pick your discussion prompt before the exam. She also gives study guides. Just go over those and you should be good

The essence of the critical thinking class allows for flexibility and non-traditional teaching methods. Gaskins is EXTREMELY flexible and wants to build a student-centered class, taking into account your preferences. Very though provoking during discussions and no real tests.

Amazing professor! Really cares about students & isn't keen on stressing you out. Assignments were fun & had a lot of liberty with them. Final was so easy! Pretty chill class. Overall, would take again if I could. Don't buy the book!

Dr. Gaskins made my first semester of college so enjoyable! This critical thinking class was a lot of fun and we learned at the same time. Deadlines for assignments were made based on the students' avaliability. She is so laid back and understands how college students have so much stress and pressure put on them.

I really loved this course! Dr. Gaskins really understands how busy college students are and makes deadlines for assignments when it is most convenient for the class. Sometimes she has no 'official' plans when you go to class but it makes the class fun. Overall, great class and she is hilarious too:)

Assigns about 6 speeches to give throughout the semester (put effort into them since they are your whole grade) I love Dr. G. She is the sweetest person ever, hilarious, and really cares about her students. However, she is sometimes confusing when it comes to assignments. She doesn't seem to have clear due dates for assignments.

1st of all TAKE ANY OF HER CLASSES. She's such a forgiving, caring lady. The mom I never had... her humor is very dry and blunt but she loves nonsensical classroom banter. Class had maps (fill out capital & country), 2 (long) novels to read and open ended project on (easy), midterm, final. She lit gives you the terms to study. Cancelled class a lot

Gaskins is a sweetheart. She is so genuine and wants you to pass. Barely any homework. Just lectures that makes up a few quizzes and the tests. As memorize the information on her powerpoint slides (which she puts up) and you're golden! She takes roll! She is really funny and helps the class go by as fast as possible!

Dr. Gaskins is so funny and she makes her lectures interesting, and she is also very kind. I had to miss a few things when i was ill and she worked with me. Study her lectures and you will pass.

Professor Gaskins is super funny and brings the humor in the class. Her class is fairly easy if you pay attention and complete her assign work. The class is consist of 4 Maps, 3 Quizzes, 2 Midterm, and a Final. All which are easy because her tests are very direct. Study her powerpoint and do her study guide. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Dr. Gaskins is hilarious, personable and kind. Her lectures do seem a bit long but what history lecture doesn't. Pay attention in class and you'll do good. The midterm and final seem like they are going to be extremely hard at first but she gives you a very useful study guide. If you study from that you can get an A. Get ready to learn your maps!

Before you read any further if you have the chance to take her class sign up for hers right now. Overall easy class with light homework and discussion-based tests (though not for every class nor every test). 1 test based on a book but still easy. Other professors should take note of her teaching style
