Great feminist... really tough, but good in office hours and gave me lots of help -- worked hard for that B, but worth the work
Hard teaching teacher, but you need to have good English and really interested in politics. Otherwise it's impossible to get good grades
she gives out alot of extra credits in the class if u manage to to the extra credits and get c average on her tests u still would still manage to get an A in her class. her tests are mainly essay questions.
her class was boring she never went over the book, and expected us to be like politicians or so...... her test were loooong essays with short amount of time to answer them....
This professor knows her stuff! I learned so much about what my role in the political system can be. Her tests are challenging but I felt as if I accomplished a lot by working hard and pushing myself. She always encouraged me!
Womens History, great great great information. Anderson is provocative in her questioning, intense in the homework giving, but gracious in the grading. She's a smart women, and has steamlined a course with some really good stuff. highly recommended.
She's okay I guess. If you wanna get an A in this class be prepared to do a lot of homework and reading. I got A's on the homework and C's on the two essay tests that she gave and she gave me a C!
The people who are so hard on her just don't really want to work; no, it isn't easy, but you learn. I actually learned more here than the first time i took 25b with a so-called feminist man who sleeps with his students... Anderson is righteoous!
I didn't find her class hard, but I also didn't find her class interesting. She doesn't seem to be really focused, her instructions are ALWAYS vague and often contradictory. Lots of busywork in class. If I'd been sensible, I would've dropped her class.
she's doens't give hard work. she expect you to work for your grade. whatever you get, you earn. she's extremely helpful. she even repeat things like 10 times b/c students don't listen to her the 1st time. i learn so much in this class. great teacher/info
I liked her. Really, she's quite an intelligent person and teaches with openness.
AWESOME teacher. You need to work hard to get a good grade in this class. She expects a lot from you, but what good teacher doesn't? She requires you to think! Use your brain and back up your answers/opinions with facts. Couldn't ask for a better teac
Took her over summer. Be prepared to work if you want an "A" reasonable teacher, except a little bias in her teaching. Gives UNLIMITED extra credit. If you have the energy to do the work, you can buy your grade with extra credit.
GREAT TEACHER. UNLIMITED EXTRA CREDIT. LECTURE ARE SOMETIMES BORING BUT SHE IS EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT AND WISE IN THE SUBJECT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE. SHE KEEPS UP WITH EVERYTHING UP TO DATE. VERY KNOWLEDGABLE, WONDERFUL PROFESSOR.
as long as you show up everyday and do all the assignments you will do fine. not a lot of hw at all. good class to take if you are busy. participating in class and asking questions will insure an A. highlight your book to study for tests.
I learned a lot in this class... Would strongly recomend to those with some interest in the subject or those looking to learn.
A good instructor to take if you are willig to work for your grade. Does take time to explains things throughly.
Any questions or comments that students have before or after class must be emailed to her.She does not have time for her students no matter how simple the question may be for her to answer.SHE HAS NO TIME FOR STUDENTS AND OFFICE HOURS ARE NON-EXISTENT!
she calls on you in class, and makes you feel so stupid if you don't know the answer to what she's asking. she's horrible! i dropped her class...don't take her.
She tells all of her classes different things and she doesn't remember what she tells to each of them. She's easily confused and quite disorganized. However, the class is interesting, I enjoy it. There is a lot of reading and a few writing assignments, but it's a good class, overall. Just read.
May get Boring at times, But keep up with the reading and youll be fine. Not much homework and plenty and plenty of extra credit. Just make sure you DO study for test and ask questions when needed more then happy to help those with questions..
good teacher, easy to pass if you do your homework...you also get extra credit!!
Did not like her. At first she states that tests are open notes, then last minute, she changed her mind. Hated her tests-they were all fill ins and essay questions. She made my class buy and read a novel and you have to write a 7-10 page essay.I did get a B in her class, but really disliked her.
She is a wonderful professor. She has inspired me to become a Political Science major! She's tough and she'll ask you questions in class, but it's meant to make you think. She likes people to have class dissc. & get involved. Do the reads & study-It's not hard to get a good grade. I got A's
She is a great and helpful Prof. if you want to do good in her class simply pay attention and study. Her class is not hard if you do the reading and HW. You won't get a easy A in her class, however you get what you put in and you'll leave with allot.
She doesn't teach much in class. Often, you'll find her talking about current events...of course your tests are not on those. You can sit and sleep in her class all u want, but just remember: study the study guides!!!
dont do it its not worth your time
FLOWER POWER HIPPIE! This instructor’s persona screams “liberal/left-winger”. I got the impression that her goal was to incite a mass rebellion against the U.S. government. Beside from her radical views, she is a great political science teacher. She will stimulate your mind. If you do well on the ho
you get what you put in so basically if you do 1000 points extra credit and not take the final or the midterm, you will get an A. she's cool and wants you to do well. her midterm and final are really hard though so study EVERYTHING she gives you, LITERALLY!!! take her though, she's cool.
Okay one of the best POLI SCI professors at PCC, It is a bit difficult to follow at times but if you read an pay attention your got an A. Just study, and keep up with the assignments (like in every class) but take her though you will enjoy it.
DR. ANDERSON IS THE BEST. HER LESSON ARE FULL OF INFORMATION AND SHE HAS YOU WRITING PAPERS ON THINGS THAT ARE IN CURRENT NEWS EVERYOTHER WEEK INSTEAD OF BUSY WORK EVERYDAY. SHE CAN ANSWER ANY OF YOUR QUESTIONS IF YOU E-MAIL HER. HER TEST ARE EASY BECAUSE SHE GIVES YOU A STUDY GUIDE FOR THE TEST.
Took Dr. Anderson 2 yrs ago and still remember and use much of what I learned. Great professor and promotes discussions in class. H.W. relevant to class and to life. Great experience if you're notlazy.
It's a hard class, and boring. No notes, you just read the book. The study guide didnt really help me. Many work to do.
When I first began the class I thought she was a Femi-nazi, but she makes the men challenge their perceptions. In the end the class was boring but it was just the matriel and not the teaching.
Took this class over winter. It was easy, you hardly need to read the book*. All you need to do is focus 'intensely' on study guides & her hints. Grading is messed: i got a B as final grade even getting A's on EVERYTHING returned (75%) + extra credit. Essay grading is very unpredictable.
I took her for a women's studies class--she's very interesting, albeit hard to predict: you really never know what she wants. Tip: if you write a LOT on the tests, you'll have an easier time getting an A.
Hey, she actually lectures! and you will learn a lot from her class. Just follow the study guides and you will do good on her test. The class creates awareness and is very empowering!

This prof. is just a mess herself! ALWAYS LATE, late to our final today for EXACTLY an hour!!!bad! super longgg final questions, this class is hella superrr too much readings!! wanna get As? DO not take this class unless you have time to read and take notes for 100 pgs reading a week! She is lazy!
Dr. Anderson is the coolest pol sic teacther, all you haters are jsut lazy and dont want to do the work, shes very smart and down to earth, you do the work and you will get the Grade you put into your work.
"uhh...ahh...uhh...uhhh..." you'll be hearing THAT alot in this class. she does have a habit of being late, but she does give out TONS of EC. As long as u turn in the assignment, you can use the EC to make it an A paper. However, lectures are so boring cuz you keep hearing uhh..uhh..uhh all over the place. ok teacher.
There are only 2 tests, the midterm and final. If you study well the study guide that she gives you, you wont have problems at all, but its hard. Unlimited EC. 1 Term paper + 3 short papers. You dont really need to read the book for class meetings, all they do is discuss current issues. Interesting class if you are into all that stuff.
Shes a very nice, easy and relaxed teacher. she gives you study sheets before the test and knows EVERYTHING about politics and history. she will give you help any day if you dont understand. I hate polisci and this was my second time taking this class, i passed pretty easily while understanding it
Great teacher.. really helpful with internships, etc... Clear... Take good notes, read the textbook, you'll pull an easy A.
Tough but fair. The more you interact in class the more she'll ease up on your grade.
She's a **** that's all I got to say.

avoid like the plague.
Dr. Anderson is an astute mediator of class discussion. Her tests are quite focused on material previously covered. Her curriculum is thorough, relevant, and insightful. She is very mellow, well-humored, and highly intelligent. As a polysci major, I am stoked to be in her class.
I really liked her and her class a lot when I took it. She may not be hella "fun" (come on it's political science) but she is very cool.
She is very liberal, and does not want to hear any opinion that does not agree w/ hers. I once had to take a make-up test right outside of her office. She got on the phone to a collegue and gave the name of a student in my class. the paper was based on opinion. she called him stupid, small minded, ect.. as she quoted pieces of his essay. bad prof!!
Great Teacher! Always goes out of her way to help. I learned so much that I am actually changing my major to Political Science. She is clearly one of the best professor's I have had at PCC. Don't miss out!
One word about Dr. Anderson describes her: Bitter. She will use students for her own means. It is a though she has no compassion at all. Easy class though!
Dr Anderson has an agenda that is not nuetral in the least. If you are a liberal and are for women's rights then this is the class for you. If, however, you want to learn something objective and have a true desire to learn poilitical science, then steer away from her. She also make you do a lot a busy work that really doesn't amount to much.
Great Teacher! I learned so much and have changed my major to political science. She is very smart and knows how to communicate the information well. I will recommend this class to all my friends.
Not very good.

Dr. Anderson is not only one of the best teachers at pcc shes one of the nicest people. ITs simple, Your grade depends on the amount of work you put in. and she gives alot of extra credit, i dont think theres an excuse for anyone not to get a B or above. Highly Recomended for a Real College like corse where they dont baby thier students. =)
She's a bit on the frazzled side, but is a wealth of knowledge! Hardly any homework outside of assigned readings.Lots of interesting/ engaging in-class discussions. She will get your political fire started.Slanted to the left just a bit, but very fair in class.Lenient about late work, just be honest/upfront with her.THUMBS UP TO DR.ANDERSON.(PhD)
One word will best description: FEMENIST; if you don't fit in this category, good luck. Kiss that A goodbye!
FANTASTIC! I now know I will be prepared when I transfer. I wish I could take the class again to learn even more.
Ms. Anderson is clear, interesting, and enjoyable. She gives many opportunities for extra credit. Her tests and papers are not very difficult, and anyone who wants to it can get an A.
very nice, says "UMMMMM" alot....changes schedule/tests without much notice, quite an easy class id say the majority got an A- or B
I am the person least interested in politics but Professor Anderson kept my interest, especially with her ability to incorporate the boring historical issues with current issues we're going through. She gives out a plethora of hand-outs in attempt to get you informed as well as interested. STUDY for her midterm; I think it's harder than the final!
Amazing people are few & far in between. Prof. Anderson is one of those people. Her grading is fair, and she is very helpful. I recommend any & every student to take her.
she is a great teacher, is very clear about what she expects you to learn, gives interesting articles for you to read a lot, and her assignments are fun to; a very interactive class that helps you understand the world a lot more. I am going to take her for political theory because i liked her teaching style so much. recommended for any student
Anderson challenges you. Yes, she says "um" a lot, but honestly that is the only significant criticism I can make. Fair grader, explains assignments clearly, a must-take for polisci majors.
Great teacher, she says "um" alot, but she has vast knowledge of the working of our government and world politics. She singlehandedly changed my major to political science.
She's a great teacher. She may seem hard, but she makes you work for every good grade. She likes you to develop an opinion about the world you live, as well as an interest. Do as much extra credit as you can for the papers, go to the social sciences lab to see Scott, and just THINK, and you'll do okay.

I took her for women's history and poli scie one. It's a challenging class, but she knows her stuff. She's a great role model for young feminists. I found some of the reading boring but overall it's a good course and Anderson is a good professor to take if you like these subjects.
I thought her class was really easy, her quizzes are open book, and the discussions are really interesting, she gave me a B, and that's with no effort.
This teacher is a little bit hard because she gives alot to read but the readings are interesting and she also puts movies about women in history times. She helps alot though and half of her exams are open book..Take her you'll learn alot of things u did not know.
Had her for both Polsci22 and Hist25B. Come to class because she frequently changes dates of projects etc. from syllabus. One complaint, classwork is frequently totally different than reading yet she tests only on reading. There is little to no discussion on text so its up to you to understand and interpret to be ready for the tests.
great teacher.. but lots of reading.. but if you have an instrest then it's worth it..
The class was very interesting for me, and as long as u read the book, understand the material, you should be able to pass with an A
I enjoyed PolSci22, good teacher willing to answer all questions in person or email. It is imperative to read ALL material assigned, a lot of reading btw! Her written exams are open book which is helpful. A lot of emphasis on mid term, bibliography, and final exam, all were a doozies! CRITICAL THINKING A MUST IN THIS CLASS!
Mrs. anderson is a great professor. She helps you in every way and explains everything thats going to be on the test. You have to read the book because she will quiz you in some stuff. She lets you use the book for half of the test so you'll do just fine. There A LOT of extra credit so everyone has a chance of passing her class. I recommend everyon
She's the kind of teacher that actually wants to hear your opinions in class, but sometimes she'll put you on the spot, which I find to be uncomfortable at times. There's always a bunch of extra credit- you can bomb a test or an assignment and you can still get an A. She just has this REALLY ANNOYING HABIT OF SAYING, "UMMM," AFTER EVERY SENTENCE!
anderson is a great professor whom ended up being my mentor. she is inspiring and sees potential in students to further their academic careers in political science. her curriculum is challenging and interesting. her topics are thought provoking and engaging.
Great professor, just read the book and study and you will do just fine... She also gives alot of extra credit
I had Prof. Anderson during the Winter and she was so easy! All I had to do was write three short papers and there's only two tests, which are easy if you study. She offers a bunch of extra credit, so there's no way you'll get a bad grade. I wasn't fond about taking this class at first, but it really wasn't bad- it was actually kinda interesting.
This class was great! And easy! If you fail this class, then seriously, why are you wasting money enrolling? You have to actually read (*GASP*!) the text and the book she assigns. She gives LOADS of extra credit. Seriously ppl should not complain and just read!
She's really helpful when you ask her for help. I actually didn't read the text and still earned a pretty good grade. If you listen to her lectures and flip through your book a bit, you'll generally know what it's all about. Written excercises are open book'd & notes. Tests aren't that hard and LOADS of extra credit... which I didnt do... oops
This professor knows how to teach! She is interested in student success and how we will eventually impact our communities. I would recommend this class for general knowledge and how to use it!
I pondered that Prfessor Anderson do not have high rating is because she is less given a clear indication for what is going on for test. Thus, students do not know what is imp-ortant part need going to review. Also, tests combine too many memorize stuff, not hard but you need take time to remeber all the stuff, and you will be fine on the test!
Anderson is a pretty chill and laid back sort of teacher. I had her during the Winter and there was one time where I completely forgot to write this 3 page paper, so she let me email it to her that same night. What Professor lets you do that?! She always offers extra credit so don't worry about getting bad grades on her tests- oh, they can be long.
WHAT? NO WAY! I WAS READING THE RATINGS FOR THIS TEACHER...AND I TOTALLY DISAGREE..MRS. ANDERSON IS ONE OF THE BEST PROFS IN PCC....TAKE HER! YOU WILL LEARN AND SHE IS EXTREMELY HELPFULL...SHE IS ALWAYS THERE WHEN YOU NEED HER....BESIDES THAT....HER T.A: SCOTT...IS NOT ONLY HELPFUL BUT CUTE! ....YOU WILL DEFF ENJOY THIS COURSE!
i think she was incredibly helpful. always there with emails. she is a great teacher. really knows her stuff when it comes to womens history. glad i took it. not too hard at all. tons of extra credit offered. just read or atleast skim the readings and u will be fine. just make sure u study for the midterm & final. take her class if u want 2 learn!!
Poor instruction. Hardly any of the material that is discussed in class is on any of the exams or assignments; instead, the instructor wastes most of the the class time by making studens read mostly random articles. All of the exams, assignments, etc relate to the book which must be covered by yourself. this makes class difficult to succeed in.
Class is challenging if you can eat up the whole notes and understand the whole concept. You will get it. Now, I am taking her class, she does show a very clear lecture but she is unhelpful at all.Not an easy grade and be tough on your papers.
She never use text book, class based on ner lecture, is not related with the book. There are some writing assignment and extra credit can push your grade up. Try it! You might get a good grade.
Great at explaining the text; not boring during lectures; group projects dominate the grade; tests are easy (review sheets have all the answers); very very very nice if you need time away from class etc.She is super smart AND GIVES A LOT OF EXTRA CREDIT!
awesome professor! i luv the class and her teaching is great!!!!!!!! highly recommended! she is the best
Dr. Anderson's class isn't super easy, but you'll learn a lot. She expects you to read the book, then she applies it to current events in lectures. There are 4 papers and 2 tests (short answer/essay), but her study guides are very good. Need help? The TA Scott, is also the tutor for the class and is amazing! Helped me get an A. He's cute also!
Dr Anderson speaks clearly for the most part. The assignments were easy but I absolutely hate working with other people and she always made us work with a partner or small group. Lots of reading. I grew annoyed by the class structure, but the subject is interesting enough. She seems busy so I never bothered her for help, you can ask Scott for help.
She is not an excellent professor at all. She just show the lecture and she is kind of lazy back. Tests and take home essay are not very easy. The class seems very easy but when you try it to do sth, it is not so easy.
She's ok. The material is boring as hell, but the worst thing about the class are the tests - they are not clear at all with the questions. Most of the time you'll be trying to figure out what they're asking, and she prides herself in doing that.
This professor is fantastic! I know so much more now about the system and where I fit. I would recommend this class to any person who believes that they can have the power to change things in the world around them!
Everyone should be required to take this class with Anderson teaching it. I took her for 2 semesters and I absolutely love her! She is so funny and she is very open about everything. I learned more in this class about myself and other stuff than I ever learned throughout my life. This subject is so awesome too!
This professor really knows politics. The class is challenging but I learned so much about the U.S. I would recommend her to everyone and plan on taking another course from her.
Compared to other professors, she is difinely hard and would makes you in a jumble. Well, if u a real organized person, you will definitely receive a lot of knowledge from her. Taker her if want really to learn the U.S. politics.
The number of times she says 'UM' distract from her lecture and you find yourself tuning her out because you are so irritated from her abundant use of the word ' um'
you will get a lot of information in Dr. Anderson's class. Her class is not easy but she is a fair graider, and with your hard work you will get an A, take her class and you will learn A LOT about political system of the U.S. Over all I enjoed her class.
The worst teacher EVER!!!! got an A in her class but she should not teach in the school with such a good reputation as PCC has!!!!
the WORST!!!!
grades really hard. study guides have hundreds of vocabulary words and questions, and only a fraction of them are on the tests. not enough tests/papers/homework to buffer grade. don't take her during a short semester. the final is mostly on things from the book, not lecture. too much info to memorize.
She is so unhelpful during a review session. all she does is tell you to look in the book. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME! what's the point in a study session if you're going to tell us to look in the book?
Lots of Reading. Being in class is a waste of time. She rarely lectures. Hard to listen to her when she does (she says "uhm" every 15 seconds). 5 small exams, easy term paper, difficult midterm & final.
winter 08: she gives lots of extra credit, just make sure if your going to do it , do a lot of it! mid&final are easy if you take advantage of tutor! aced both soo he really does help, over all the class is very interesting, but lectures dont really relate to any of the tests.
This class was interesting and useful to today. She is definitely challening but I would take her again. Learn a lot. There is however, a lot of work but it does pay off!
Took for winter '08. Don't take her. She was never there to begin with, never made sense (couldn't pass through all the um's she was throwing at us), and is completely useless. Scott should take her place.............and there was a really annoying fat girl that kept talking stupid stuff which made the class worse than it already was!
I also had this professor in the Spring. She was fantastic! I learned so much about the elections and can actually have a conversation with my friends about our future. Would definitely would recommend.
Women's History 25B..... She is an Amazing teacher. I've learned so much in her class im soooo happy. She is always there to help you. There are also tutors to help, she emails, she tutors after class. Take this class is an amazing class. There is a lot of reading but COME ONE WE ARE IN COLLEGE. I will take her again for Poli Sci
good...
Great Teacher! Knows so much about how elections work in this important year! Would definitely recommend.
You wanna to know politic, then take her. She give you how our political system work and really know how to teach the class. Highly recommend get help from her T.A., Scott. No surprise exam; she give you good exam study guide. A few challenging in this class, but overall nice class. From, Grade A Student and Thank Professor.
doc anderson was my first real experience with a professor who really loves what she does, she is highly opinionated but that doesnt hinder her ability to make sure that any motivated student can do well
WORST professor I have ever had. Only 3 things count for your grade, the Midterm, the Essay, and the Final (Tests=3hours) She never lectured on anything that was put on the test,(only short answer and essay). 100 terms and 50 questions on study guide needed to be memorized-in order to pass. She only ever pushes her views on you instead of teaching.
Fantastic class!!! I learned so much. If only the course was broken into two sections. The information was extremely useful and I feel as if I might change my major. Professor knows her stuff!
Terrible. Unless this is your major DO NOT TAKE HER IN THE WINTER/SUMMER. She swears like we all wanna be congressmen and justices. Psycho grader, you have to memorize EVERYTHING. All short answers and essay. Its super hard and unless you love political science then take her, if u dont, then dont take her. easy as that.
Interesting and most relevant class I have had at PCC. Lot of work but worth it.
Fantastic! I learned a lot. Tests were difficult but doable. Great time to take the class because of the elections.
I took this teacher last winter, got an easy A. Anybody trying to convince you that she's hard is never going to get far in life. Do the extra credit and there's no way you could get anything less than a B unless you tried.
This prof, is pretty reasonable. I learned alot of things about polysc. Workdload is doable, no more than 1 hour a day. Will get by. i think two tests, and a lota e/c. In the end, shes not a bad teacher.
I went into this class loving political science. I left the class hating it. Do not take her, her lectures have nothing to do with her tests. You MUST study to pass the midterm and final. Her TA was helpful. You are assigned a book to read and write an essay on. FINAL, MIDTERM, AND ESSAY=GRADE.
Type of class where you HAVE TO work on your own time to pass. She DOES want to help & she offers extra credit but its up to YOU to do it. her midtern/final determine your grade and its only hard if you dont study on your own. Luckily, she gives you a studyguide w/ whats going to be on it. i recommend for those who like working on their own.
The teacher offers unlimited extra credit, so you can get a good grade. 20% of you grade is midterm, 20% final, 20% essay on a book, 20% in class work, 20% political shorts. It is really an easy class, if you read the book. Final was much harder than the midterm!
Disregard any negative comments made about this teacher. Those of you who did poorly in her class have only yourselves to blame. She gives unlimited extra credit and emails you the answers to the study guide, just as the person below me has mentioned. Easy A, piece of pie
I hear her class is extremely hard during any other semester which is why I took her during the summer. First off..she isn't all that pleasant right off the bat. Secondly, she's hard to get a hold of and rarely answers any emails. Her assistant Scott is way more helpful and you have more of a chance getting to him. Lastly, I believe I have at least
This professor is one of the most knowledgeable teachers I have had at PCC so far. She makes the class interesting and useful. It does require quite a bit of work but it is so worth it! Welcome to COLLEGE!
Yes you do have to work on you own at times but she is really helpful and so is her assitiant scott who is really cute. hehe just do your work and pay attention and you will do very good in that class. She opens your mind to so many things.
Took her for both 1 and 22. She's straight forward, doesn't bs at all. You either study and ace or you fail for trying to wing it from attendance only. Offers unlimited extra credit. Literally. Most people giving negative responses are just used to grade inflation. You gotta work for your A.If you can't pass its because you're retarded or dont care
prof. anderson most def. needs a better score here. she gives UNLIMITED XTRA CREDIT. even if u mess up big time on the midterm, u can still get an A on it. take home final. class consists of reading op-eds and debating. if you are on point i honestly cant see anyone doing bad in this class. also scott/ruben will help u out if ur lost. dont sweat it
she is not that easy, but she is not hard.... she is fair... i think she does put more pressure in girls to learn than guys. She does gives u interesting class discussions. but yeah midterm and final long but not hard
anderson is a great professor. she challenges you to formulate your own opinions and will force you to grow as a thinker. she gives unlimited extra credit and gives u every opportunity to pass. midterm questions are given prior and its a take home final. final was a but tricky but if u do the extra credit ur good.
O.K. political science is not very interesting but Dr. anderson attempts to make it interesting. A lot of work and a 5-7 page book analysis. Gives out study guides for midterm and final. Do your work. If you do bad you will only have yourself to blame.
Great prof., however, you have to read all the chapters. You?re assigned a book, and have to write a paper. All tests are short essay, and supplies you with what is required in advance. She's not good at lecturing...meaning she doesn't, so you have to do all the work yourself. Tutors are and will be available for your success, and lots of e.c.!
Does not care for students. No help. Your on your own on what to do to get an A.
You are so wrong! This is a smart, interesting, and most helpful professor. I would recommend her in a heartbeat!
She's very helpful and wants students to do well in class. She offers many news to activate your mind and form your own beliefs. There is a mandatory paper to do. Overall, she is a nice teacher and isn't all too hard.
This professor knows so much and certainly keeps you on your toes! I would recommend her after a long semester- she actually provides useful information!
Great prof., however, you have to read all the chapters and take notes. As long as you pay attention and have a little bit of backgrounds on the matrial. You should do fine.
As long as you paid attention and took good notes the class was easy. The test are open note, open book so how hard can it be?
She is very nice and helpful, i took her in the same semester for hist 21 and polisci. At first i thought i was not going to pass her class but at the end i got an A and B. she gives you a lot of extra credit which helps, few quizzes(open book), study guides are long but if you study off of them you will be fine.would definitely recommend
She's a great person...HOWEVER, she doesn't teach. Comes to class late, barely talks, and then expects you to understand everything. Read the book, do the extra credit, study the concepts and you'll get an A.
I thought that this was one of the best classes I have had at community college! She does expect you to do the work and be independent in your thinking. Nevertheless, she has great lectures - they are insightful and useful. I will recommend her to my friends and hope that they learn as much as I did!
Dr. Anderson is very smart and experienced in Polsci. I learned a lot. Plenty of reading and writing. Make sure you can write an essay (in class and assignments). I'd recommend taking English 1A first. Do the essays early for feedback if you want an A. I would take her other classes if I was a Polsci major--she's great!
He teaches well and his grading is generous comparing to other political science teacher. TRUST ME, TAKE IT!
HORRIBLE TEACHER!!! YALWAYS LATE, GIVES YOU AN ARTICLE TO READ YOU TALK ABOUT THAT THE WHOLE CLASS!! AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SYLABUS. ALL THE QUESTIONS COME FROM TEH TEXT BOOK WHICH YOU'LL NEVER USE DURING CLAS JUST BEFORE TEH TEST!!! DONT TAKE HER PLEASE, TRUST ME YOU WONT REGRET IT
She is extremely helpful in answering your questions whether it's in class or through email. She tells you exactly what to study for the midterm and the final and offers TONS of extra credit to a point where you're just sick of it. Just study the study guide, take your time in writing your essays, do the extra credit and you'll get an A
First for all the students who put "he" below, you obviously have the wrong professor -She is great! She treats the course like she should - college. Sure she has you read articles but they are directly connected to what you learn in the text. Would recommend her to any student who wants to learn!
I think I liked this class because I like political science. Anderson likes to talk about current events and not really the philosophers in the book. You definitely have to read the book to pass the Midterm and Written Exercises. She doesn't really teach so much as try to get people to state their opinions about certain subjects during class.
She isn't very good at lecturing and expects you to read independently. Her biggest strength though is that she forces you to think critically. If you're majoring in PoliSci, take her class! If you're not, opt for someone easier. Overall the class is easy if you do the readings and take advantage of the unlimited extra credit.
FACT: Class is easy and straight to the point, you're not going to wonder WHAT to study and on WHAT you will be tested on. She always answers your emails and is helpful to a certain extent. I didn't even read the chapters, only followed the study guides. Yet, her lectures are a bit boring and SHES ALWAYS LATE LATE LATE. Decent class. But... EH.
Very interesting class. She is a great teacher. The lectures were about current events rather than test material, but you really learned concepts in this class over just learning what you need for a test. Tests are all essay but if you read the text, you will do fine. You MUST read in order to pass.
This was the most stressful Social Sciences class I have ever taken. I haven't failed a test in 2 years until this class. She asks insightful questions to encourage you to think critically but her class is more of a discussion than a lecture. Material must be self-taught so if you're not good at that, DO NOT take this class. LOTS of extra credit.
she gives you the EXACT questions she will use on the midterm and on the final. failed midterm badly, and still got a B in her class and never did any extra credit even though she offers like 50,000 points worth of them. just do all the assignments and study for the midterm and the final and you will be fine!
very interesting class, learn a lot!!! however, she teaches her class based on HER ideology. If you don't agree, well good luck! She is a feminist, so you know what to do.
Anderson, is very clear with what she wants. Mid-term and Final are tough, but she is a fair grader. 4 essays and 1 book report.
Anderson is straight to the point. She provides study guides, tons and tons of extra credit, and most of the exams were open book. She smart and easy-going. Take her!
Easy Grader, but I did not find her very informative in her lectures. She provides study guides for the Mid-term and Final. While, her exams are open book. I recommend that you read the text book and make note cards for the figures. By the way you do have to read an additional book and write a book report.
She discusses current events in class, but homework and tests are on ideologies. I don't find this useful. I think going over the work and test more in class would be beneficial. She makes you question your political beliefs which is good. Overall ok professor.
Treats you like political science majors even though it is an intro class. A LOT of work. Harsh grader. Tests are all short answer questions from the book, not necessarily what she lectures about. Wouldnt recommend her if you arent majoring in Political Science.
Excellent Class! I am so glad I have taken this class during an election year. She brings out the interest and makes you eager to participate in our political system. You will be challenged and learn a lot!
Lots of self study in the class as a lot of the topics in the midterm and final will not be covered in class, but the subjects you need to learn are pretty straight forward. She's very much the type of teacher that wants you to follow the instructions that she gives you, but otherwise she's pretty easy. A LOT of extra credit opportunity.
Not gonna lie...I fell asleep in this class so many times. As a lazy freshman I really had no interest in this class. Professor Anderson was helpful in trying to coerce me to get my grade up but I fell behind. She is a good teacher but sometimes her voice can lull you to sleep.
This teacher is one of the most unprofessional people i have ever had the misfortune of taking. During an election year where it should have been a time for a teacher to use disgretion we had to read so much propaganda in favor of an opponent who is single handedly running this country into the ground. Teachers like this should removed.
Great professor! I learned so much during this election year. I have never volunteered for anything let alone a campaign. This professor encouraged us and I did and learned so much. I just might become active1
Was not easy or clearly taught
Made poly sci a lil less boring to me. Tests and papers were clear and to the point. Gave extra credit and related necessary information to current events. You can't miss too many classes though.
Dr. Anderson is great! Throughout the semester there's a few writing assignments which should be easy points if you read the book. There is a lot of reading involved since she also assigns a book analysis on a novel/book related to the course. Provides study guides and is always willing to help. Most importantly, you will learn a lot.
Her class isn't hard but consist of written exams you must study for.Her study guides are LONGap and will take a lot of time.Mid term is written exam&2 essay parts.Final is the same way.You can use the book for tests.ATTEND CLASS!She'sboring and is mostly self learning.Do the work, attend class and be prepared to do a lot of studying'&you will pass!
Great prof. Actually teaches and if the effort is reciprocated then the student will learn a lot. She explains not only the history of topic, but also teaches material in the context of current events, enabling you to understand system. Appreciate that she doesnt attack students for lack of knowledge, therefore, allowing a real learning experience.
Dr. Anderson is a great professor. The class is what you make of it. You will do a lot of self-learning. Her classes are discussion based on real world topics polling our opinions. The actual terms and meat you need to learn you do on your own. What's on her study guide is word for word on the exams! Easy C, moderately hard B. LOTS of extra credit.
Do homework. Study before essay exams. Do 20 questions/quiz. ! paper. 2 essay test(Watergate.Big Money Citizen's United vs WTP. do extra credit to boost grade +/- grade.
One of the best things I could have done for myself was take this class. I think, even if your major isn't related to any of her classes, take at least her political theories class. You learn so much that I think just as a person you should know. She does more than give reading and tests, she makes you think. I'm looking forward to taking her again
The class is very interesting and engaging. Definitely recommend taking any of the courses she teaches. She responds to emails fast and is very helpful. It is very hard to fail her class because you can do extra credit throughout the course. Overall a great class and a great professor!
She is very helpful. She assigns a written paper but she takes a day in class to go over it with the student(individually). She also comments on how to improve on written exams. Gives a lot of extra credit that is due at the end of the semester so is up to you to do it or not. I enjoyed taking her for history 25B. Take Her!
Dr. Anderson really knows what she is teaching. She lectures and she calls on random people so they can participate in class. Six quizzes, two written exercises, three political shorts, midterm and final. She's a really good instructor. Plus she gives out tons of extra credit. It's impossible to fail
Its not enough to get A's on the midterm, final, or any of the other assignments....if you're to aware, and that awareness doesn't "align", you'll end up with a B.
Fair amount of work is given, not too difficult. But you are expected to study the material & memorize. Hours spent in non-engaging lectures & often goes off on tangents. But,she does make you very aware &involved in current US issues. Which in the end is most imp to me. I'd take her if you need to get pol sci out of the way.
Do yourself a favor and DON'T take this class during summer. After multiple all-nighters, I managed to pull off an A, but it's a lot of work with 2-3 assignments due every week (political shorts, quizzes) plus a midterm and final. But she offers tons of extra credit to be due at the end of the semester.
Fantastic class! Dr. Anderson motivated me for the first time in my education. She is challenging but totally engaging. I now know the political system and what my role is in it. A lot of writing but isnt that what college is about?
Women's History was my second class with Dr. Anderson. She allows unlimited extra credit, half the final is open book and all the quizzes are reviewed in class. Assigns a book and a paper. Takes a day to help you with it. Dr. Anderson is great, engaging, and really smart. She loves her field and you feel it.
She's a great and kind teacher. Take her class and do the work and you'll be fine. Assignments are all easy. Impossible class to fail.
You can tell she loves woman's history. Which I respect most about her. Other than that she doesn't teach the class everything is based on lectures. It is very confusing. Everything is in class written essays. She is a tough grader. Never will I want her as a teacher.
She will introduce you to Political Science and some American History. She will assign you a book to read from a list and assign a reading report. She is a fairly left of center and the bias is noticeable in her grading. I chose a book by Thomas Sowell, a reputable African American economist, and she commented, "isn't he a nut?!"
Dr. Anderson's class was amazing. No lectures, but you will discuss current event articles in class. The textbooks will be used at home by you individually to answer the take home quizzes. There is a huge book analysis; you'll get to choose your book from a list she has tailored for the class. You will do lots of written assigments!
Overall, Professor Anderson is really good at what she does, but she will make you work for your grade. Quiz were open book at home. Midterm was tough, and there is a book analysis she assigns. As long as you do all the readings and do the work you will pass. If you are a slacker don't expect to pass this class.
Beware. If you're thinking of taking this class along with 4 other classes you have in store for your semester. DONT DO IT. Super tough grader and if you ask for help in a specific topic you will find your self disappointed. She will say "its in your book" obviously no elaboration. Would not recommend and she does not announce anything in class.
Fantastic class! She is very tough but you can really rise to the challenge. This is what college is all about! Would recommend to any student who wants to learn a lot!
She's overall a great professor. She lets you know what it takes to pass the class. Not really on top of grading. I did EC and she never graded it. She gives easy 3 paragraph essays so they're really simple to write.
I have taken this class in the summer wanting to get it over with but now I am finding that it is interesting and wish I could take it in the regular semester. Dr. Anderson really encourages you to think and form your own ideas! I have never experienced this before and now know what it is suppose to be like in college!
Hardest class I've ever taking, but most rewarding as well. Dr. Anderson challenges students, not an easy A. In this very intense six weeks, I learned so much - it's unbelievable. Take Dr. Anderson if you want to succeed in life. Only complaints are she is clearly liberal, and told me she will not give 100% on essays unless they are "publishable."
Amazing class! she is a very smart and helpful person. However, you wont pass the class if you don't do the reading or miss any lecture! Take her class you will enjoy it and learn a bunch! (MUST get the book!)
YOU BETTER KEEP UP WITH THE READING!!! READ! The tests are straight forward questions and she's a doll by giving a specific study guide. Make sure you take notes because she doesn't write much at all. I would definitely take her class again because she's extremely helpful and grades fairly.
Not helpful at all when it comes to midterms and finals, as she usually answers with a classic, "it's in your book". You're going to be writing, writing, writing. Work hard and you can get an A. There's extra credit but they are papers on articles or current events. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.
I really enjoyed this class. If you're not politically informed, than you're most likely supporting a system with your consuming habits and social choices unaware of the effects of your participation or lack thereof on the system as a whole. Anderson and the curriculum will inform you. She's an intelligent woman and wants you to play in the game.
Dr. Anderson is incredible, and truly helpful. Be prepared to do A LOT of writing! all though we don't really discuss the book in class, you need to read it to pass. She talks about current events a lot and I learned so much just by taking her class. She seems intimidating but she is actually very sweet!
Knows her stuff but not the best teacher. Barely learned from her lectures as she briefly goes over them. If you like talking as if it's a debate class, this is for you. Open book tests but I recommend reading before as her grading system can get difficult and confusing. A report on a chosen book is due at the end too.
Professor Anderson is a good teacher. Expect to read a lot if you want to pass. She doesn't really lecture so the class is basically self taught. She does a lot of current events in class and opens debates on them. Her test are open note so it's not hard to pass. Just read the book. Makes life easier.
Overall, Prof Anderson is great. If you want to be a better writer, take her. You do have to read a lot and analyze what you read. She wants her students to get into depth of their reading and understanding. She has 2 open notes of written exercises, 3 or 4 political shorts, and 2 exams. Do not miss any tests; it will hurt your grade if you do.
I took her during summer, it was crazy BUT i understood everything! I usually don't like taking classes like this during summer but I had no choice and I will say that i enjoyed every bit of it. I learned so much in a short amount of time, it was awesome! She is great and is willing to help students but if you're a slacker she wont put up with you.
If you are political science major or want to be lawyer some day, take her. If you just want to follow the IGETC, DON'T take her. She teaches with a UC style, which is pretty annoying. But you do learn something during the class.
The previous statement is absolutely false! She is a great professor! She is interested in your progress, she gives ample time for students to learn to express themselves and I would have to say one of the most important classes I have taken to date! I recommend her to all!
The class has ended finally but I still feel the exhaustion in my entire body. The TOUGHEST class ever! I wish I could complain that lectures were too long or boring but I can't because there were actually not too many, in fact NO lecture at all. You'll be expected to read the entire book yourself and tested. Don't recommend at all. NO, NO. NO.
Little to no group work. You have to read the chapters to pass the written exercises (tests). She's a VERY hard grader, but if you know your stuff you won't have to worry about it. You shouldn't miss more than a couple classes because you could miss some important info. Overall a tough teacher but you'll learn a little bit from her.
Would not take again, definitely not. Talked more about Politics than History of Women. 4 Written Exercises consist of 15-20 SAQs on chapters and movies you watch in class and an essay at the end. One book review due near the end. Midterm and final are ridiculous. 30-40 SAQs, an essay, and a mini book review on the midterm. Better off without her.
I'm currently taking her for summer and so far she isn't bad. But the only downfall in the summer is that there are no office hours and she leaves class as soon as she dismisses everyone so there's no chance to ask questions for clarification. When I emailed her, she tends to dodge the questions asked so do specify when speaking to her.
I too am currently taking her summer class. This is the last week and I actually am wishing I took this class in the semester. I actually am finding I like political science. Dr. Anderson encourages us to really look at our role in the system. I actually know something about the elections now. You will work a lot in this class but it is worth!
I have so much to say about Suzanne Anderson. I have taken two of her classes so far, and she is one of the most interesting professors I've had. Her classes are difficult, but worth it, TRUST ME. She is very intelligent, and clever, she will challenge you to think for yourself. She even tolerated my remarks, and unconventional politics.
i just finished Dr. Anderson's class during the first summer session. She is really fantastic- probably the best professor I have had to date! I learned so much and in such an interesting way about the political system. I would even consider changing my major. I will recommend her to my friends and hope that the rest of the class does the same!
Tests are all short answer response plus an essay, no multiple choice! You literally have to make connections between everything! Which is basically like knowing the history of government like the back of your hand! You really have to think super hard and she teaches the class UC style so it is much harder than it needs to be at a community college
Horrible professor. Don't take her! She's a tough grader and all tests are short answer questions.
Dr. Anderson is a great professor! I am now a Gender Studies major. She inspired me and really made me think about making a difference. The course was not easy but if you rise to the challenge, you will be very successful. Dr. Anderson offers a lot of help and makes herself available more than any other professor I have had so far.
Not very Helpful.
She is the worst professor I have ever taken. If you take this class get ready to learn her opinion rather than the material. Regardless of the professors personal beliefs (hers are very liberal) the opposite political beliefs should be discussed, not just when the professor wants to complain about/ridicule them. SAD!
This professor is the most inspiring! I had her for both POLSC1 and POLSC22 and I am now a political science major. Yes, the class is challenging, yes you do have to do a lot of work. I challenged myself and now consider myself a critical thinker and learner. Great experience! I don't know what those below are talking about.
Only talked about current debate, power points sucked, you minus well take an online class because she makes you read and barely teaches material. Tests are all short answer no multiple choice. Hard core feminist and only talks about her opinion. Absolutely horrible class, don't know how she's even a professor.
I do NOT recommend taking this professor! Rude, un-organized, and arrives late to class. I took the 8 week summer class and there was SOO much reading and complicated assignments. The tests and quizzes are ridiculous basically have to know the text book word by word.
I currently have Anderson for a second time and she is difficult but I have learned a lot. This was a tough semester because of the election but I would not have taken any other professor. She is so smart and has taught me how the system works and what I can do to change things! Great class.
So I took her once for summer and completely failed because I never read, and usually I pass classes without reading. I took the same class again for a whole semester and passed with an A. I can honestly say that I now know everything you need to know about politics. If this is your major, take her.
I recently took Professor Anderson, and she is in all seriousness, not difficult whatsoever. Yes, it is quite clear that this course requires a lot of reading and writing, and you must be on top of your game, but this course is not difficult to pass whatsoever. If you participate in class discussions, you cannot lose on being on her good side.
Thank goodness I passed this class, I am not too sure if I would've wanted to take this class again. She barely lectured in class and when she did it was based off of bullet points, and went too fast. she would also say don't take notes because lecture was on her website. But the lecture was bullet points, so no specific details at all.
Great Professor! Learned a lot about Women in American Society. Wish there were more classes like this one.
She is passionate about subject; very knowledgable. Does not show bias, will push you to think for yourself. Book is MANDATORY. Study guilde's are direct-but she throws in extra stuff to throw you. Show up to class, do the reading, and you'll do fine.
This is really challenging class but I learned a lot. Wish I had taken it in the regular semester. Anderson knows her stuff!
I had Dr. Anderson for women's history and had a good experience with her so I took her Poli Sci 1 class. Super easy just do all the assignments and try your best. Every class she goes over a chapter and lectures on it. She's a really cool teacher and highly recommend her. The midterm and final is kinda hard so study for those.
This class is an easy A if you do all the work and readings. Make sure you show up to class because she likes to change things with out notice. She is VERY flexible with you and will work with you if you need to miss a quiz if you let her know in advance. Make sure you have PROOF of EVERYTHING because she forgets EVERYTHING!
Such a nice teacher! Very flexible, and works with you! The class is A LOT of reading and she lets you use notes for the quizzes. Go to class, her lectures help you for the quizzes. 3 assignments, and one essay. The class is challenging but with effort and A TON of extra credit opportunities you can get an A.
Took her POLS1 class in the winter so i dont really know how her class is in a regular semester but it was A LOT of reading. 4 quizes that are open textbook and note (but you should really still read). Then a midterm and final that is for the most part closed notes. Good professor but challenging class. Also she did make me think more about politic
This professor is really nice, just do your work, and work harder, it's an easy A. In PCC she claimed that if you get a say 89%, normally it's B+, but there is no - or + in PCC, therefore it only goes up. So if you got below 90% percent, don't worry, you can still get an A, according to her.
The class was challenging, but if you put in a little bit of more effort then you should be fine. she assigns a plentiful amount of extra credit, but they don't count if you don't pass the midterm or final. you fail 1/3 core assignments you will not pass the class. make sure to attend, read and put in a lot of effort and you should be fine
She's a tough grader for sure and she has high expectations. Make sure you put lots of effort in her class. There are 4 quizzes (opened book), 1 midterm & 1 final (closed book), 3 political shorts & 1 core assignment. You gotta read a lot and make sure you understand the text clearly.
Beware of quizzes. Make sure to read the directions thoroughly! SHE USES AN ONLINE WEBSITE. You need the book and she expects you to read it. She says "uh" a lot. Shes old.
This is a great class and yes you do have to read the book - its college!!! The quizzes are open book, open not a big deal. I really did learn a lot! The exams are challenging if you do not study. Plenty of extra credit.
This class is interesting and challenging at the same time. Dr. Anderson is very knowledgeable and communicates pretty clearly. She is a strong feminist which might bother some but I found it refreshing to have a professor who actually took a stand! However, she was very accepting of other viewpoints and her tests are clear and unbiased.
She randomly brought up a 'project' that was connected to our final whilst we were in our 10th week out of a 16-week semester. Absolutely no mention of this so-called project in the syllabus nor in her previous lectures. Beware of this woman and make sure you take another class.
The project the student refers to is part of the final and is EASY!!! little to no research and very interesting. It is a one page project which is just based on easy historical facts. TELL THE TRUTH! This is a really good class!
She offers tons of extra credit throughout the semester, it really helps!! She can be flexible on due dates, just ask. She expects you to read the book (I didn't lol) & all quizzes are open book, except the final & midterm; so take advantage. Grading: 4 assignments 20%, 1 book report 20%, 4 quizzes 10%, attendance 10%, midterm 20% & the final 20%.
Didn't like her class at all.
Dr. Anderson is one of the best professors I have ever had at PCC as a poli sci major. She is the first professor here that actually challenged me in regards to political science, and got me prepared for a four year. It is not an easy class, I would not take it if you are not a political science major, but if you are, it is awesome!
This is one of the best classes I have add at PCC! Dr. Anderson is so smart and really shows interest in all the students. This was my last semester at PCC and I would have really missed out if I had not taken her. I am even considering a double major now with history as one!
Was very hard to listen. You gotta read the book if you want to do well on tests. They are open book. Gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. Not the best prof, but not he worst. You'll have to put a lot of effort to get a good grade.
She is a great professor learns a lot about woman history. She will push you to think for yourself. Her door is always open for you. She always returns email. Midterm and final will always go over in class. You have one book analysis. Read your book, study hard, and visit her office. I DID IT SO CAN YOU!
Dr. Anderson is a great professor! She is actually one of the best I have had here at PCC. I learned so much and believe it or not she helped me get a job at Feminist Majority Foundations Los Angeles, interesting and I can actually apply what I learned. Best Ever!
I loved this class but boy was it difficult. I regret not doing one more piece of extra credit - I missed an A by one stupid point! - My writing skills aren't the best so writing essays really hurt me. The lectures were great especially when people participated. Kept us up to date with current events, I learned a lot!
I took this class in the short summer session and wish I had more time to learn more from Dr. Anderson. The class is very practical and interesting. I can at least understand some of what is going on in the news. Anderson is tough but in the end I rose to the occasion. I would recommend this class before you leave PCC!
I took her for the spring semester but had to drop because i missed too many days. I took her class again this summer and honestly it was not that hard. The quizzes are open note and all the info on the quizzes will be on the midterm and final, so study all quizzes. There was 3 political shorts, all easy to do. If you are stuck go to office hours.
VERY tough grader!! wont even give you 1 point if you dont do EVERYTHING she says. I put a lot of effort into my work and she would give me a ZERO. she ignores me when i raise my hand or tells me I'm wrong and told me to drop the class because I was failing. her class very interesting but she is tough on her students no sympathy
This professor is not so tough! I did extra credit and got a good grade. The class is so interesting and she knows the material! Excellent!
i spent hours doing research for a paper and there is very little information on my topic and then she just says yourre supposed to do it the way i want it. well, how can i fit the prompt if youre asking so much on a minuscule topic?? do yourself a favor everyone and dont take this ridiculous teacher.
Great teacher who touches on and really focuses on minorities of women throughout history not just white women like standard high school history does. She has great reading perspective and offers lots of extra credit on current assignment to keep you engaged. Just read the chapters and do the study guides and you will for sure pass. Very accessible
Took her over winter for Poly Sci. Horrible teacher, lectures the entire time and is an extremely tough grader. Misread one word on the the test, zero points. I studied for hours and took dozens of pages of notes and still gives me D on the test, quizzes and assignments. Forces you to do extra credit by giving crappy scores.
Professor Anderson challenges students and makes us think! I would recommend her to all my friends - probably the best I have had at PCC. Yes, there are quizzes but open book and open note (how hard can that be!). Also on the midterm she tells us and is right a lot of the questions are directly from the quizzes. I learned so much.
I too had Dr. Anderson over the Winter. I wish I had taken her during the longer semester. She is great! I have now changed my major and because of the encourage me from her I am headed to Washington D.C. for internship this summer. Best class so far!
I had her over the winter, although I am not a Poli sci major I enjoyed the class. The homework wasn't too bad (about 30 pages a night), and she gave alot of extra credit opportunities. Just read and take good notes and you should be good to go !
Great Professor, very knowledgeable, and a genuinely nice person. I learned SO much. This is not an easy class. In fact, it's one of the hardest classes I've taken so far. Tough grader, but she makes it clear what's expected. If you have to take an English class, take it before this class because there's lots of writing.
Take at your own risk. don't take this class in the morning, if not done correctly will not receive any points.
This professor is a solid choice for the short sessions. Yes, it is a lot of work but if you follow the instructions you will do just fine. I am taking the course right now and am learning a lot and it will be over before you know it!
Honestly I'm glad that I took on this course. As most of the students have mentioned this is a heavy class and requires you to do a lot of reading and writing. Despite the heavy load of work in this class I still enjoyed it. There is several extra credit opportunities in her class and she is more than willing to help her students.
This professor's style of teaching is very unorthadox and hard to follow. She breaks up the grade into 5 increments of 20%. The quizes are open book but the questions are not always from the chapters she says. She does very little lecturing and when its time for the mid-term SUPRIZE! you have to know 5 chapters worth of material.
Prof. Anderson is great! Yes, expect to work meaning read and write. The quizzes are open book and easy if you prepare. I would say this is one of the best classes I have had at PCC by far!
Took PoliSci1 over the summer and she is amazing. Lectures are interesting and she is a fair grader with lots of extra credit opportunities. However, if youre not extremely liberal, dont take her.
I took Professor Anderson in the summer. She was very nice and helpful. She offers major extra. credit, especially for events that you attend such as city council meetings, etc. Tests are open book, but be prepared to write your hand off. Overall enjoyed my time.
Have zero regrets taking this teacher during an election year. She gives a healthy amount of work to keep you stressed, dont procrastinate or it will bite you! If you want a class that is test heavy because youre bad at writing papers, this isnt the best class for you. She replied to every email I sent her. She gives a ton of extra credit!
This was no easy class, but boy do you learn a lot from this course. 3 quizzes, 4 thought papers (2 pages each), a 2-part midterm exam, one book analysis paper (5-7 pages), and one final exam that's 4 mini essays. To be safe just read, read, read and write, write, write! I recommend her if you are a committed and determined student!
Everything was online so I didn't expect much in terms of assignments. But boi was I wrong. For a GE course, this was definitely way harder than it had to be. Lectures were online, but not helpful. Her grading is super confusing and her feedback is vague. Ended with an A in the class but you gotta work hard for it. Quizzes and tests were terrible.
Dr. Anderson is amazing and really cares. I loved this class and learned a lot. You need to do all your readings and learn out to critically think and write about different issues.
Way to much work for an online class, DONT TAKE.
3 difficult quizzes, 3 2pg essays, 1 midterm, 1 5pg essay on a book of your choice, 1 final exam. Due every Sunday. Straightforward but overwhelming courseload. Two Bs (on mini essays) and low As on all other assignments (including final exam and paper), and still ended class with a B. Seems that you need to ace all your work for an overall A.
I thought that this class won't be too diffucult. Her "feedback" is so vague that she might as well be saying nothing. She also gives way too much work. She assigns both a Political Short & a 15 short answer quiz and quizzez are also awful, theres always a couple questions that isnt part of the chapters that she expects us to provide a page # for.
This is an 8-week course so of course there is a lot of work. Professor Anderson walks you through everything and is available almost anytime. I wish I could have taken her face-to-face but I still learned a lot.
I feel that, based on what I learned in this class and what I have learned since I got out of high school in 09, Anderson teaches what we need to know about American government. Granted, she is a bit Democrat biased, she does not state her opinion outright and tests on the undeniable facts of the different branches and history.
Anderson was great! Wish I had taken in the regular semester. Learned a lot but be prepared to work!
This class is only daunting if you make it daunting. As long as you pace yourself and don't procrastinate, it's very manageable. The professor is so sweet and is willing to help her students with anything. If you are a poly-sci major, please take this class. The knowledge you gain from her will be super rewarding.
I took her online classes which is awful experience. This is a Self-Study class, her lecture is not helpful because she spent only 5mins in the beginning of the lecture briefly go through what she's going to do then played video and asked your opinion. Her submission comments are vague and ambiguous with only one or two sentences.
This was a 6 week self directed course. Anderson provided us with great reading material making it relelvant to what is going on around us. I would love to take again with Anderson in person.
Great teacher, highly recommend for pols. Tests are easy and mainly from the textbooks, which she allows you to use during all tests. Very reasonable and easy to reach when you need to. 10/10 would recommend to anyone needing POLS creds.
Tough grader. 3 small research papers, book analysis, 4 quizzes, midterm, and final. Quizzes/tests were short question, open note/book with an essay and you were given the questions ahead of time so realistically you could answer the questions at home copy paste your answers and focus your entire test time on essays. Extra credit every week, ebook.
Decent professor. Expect to do a ton of reading. Went through maybe 80-100 pages of reading per quiz, not counting the slides. She does not review the material you are actually tested on in class. Class time is more for debates among students but attendance is still graded. All short answer questions on quizzes and tests. Sometimes unclear rubric.
This is a fully online course and I learned more than any other online class I have taken thus far. Yes, you have to work but the hardwork pays off. I would recommend this class if you are motivated and do not wait until the last minute. I would like to take classes in-person but cannot at the moment. I learned so much!
Attendance counts! Be involved in discussions. Quizzes are high-stress but open book. Easily reachable and open for office hours. She genuinely cares and will reward you if she sees good effort. Unlimited extra credit & is funny and not shy to call people out. By far my favorite class. Not super frequent with homework, but papers are heavy.
This class is like trying to build Ikea furniture with your dad and he keeps yelling at you for doing everything wrong except there are absolutely zero instructions and Professor Anderson is your dad. Felt like I was constantly being dismissed and judged. Don't expect any substantial feedback on essays where points have been taken off.
Enrolled in her POL 001 Winter Class. Just for the record I have taken 3 summer classes before. Her class is not worth taking. Insists there is a mandatory meeting first week but this class is asynchronous. Heavily uses Turnitin for everything and you're not allowed to be above 20% yet you can't even after you've submitted. Wish more had rated her.
Professor Anderson was my professor in the 1990s and was EXCELLENT! I still defer to her teaching. Miss her a ton!
I had heard Dr. Anderson was a solid professor. I enrolled and totally agree. She is knowledgeable and interested in really helping students. She values students points of view and I learned so much about articulating my own political views. Take her class - you will regret it!
I didn't enjoy Professor Anderson's class. She is organized in her own way, but it didn't translate in class, and I struggled to comprehend where she was at in terms of the book as well as on assignments. You have to really be on top of the reading because quizzes and assignments related to the book/outside readings are back-to-back.
Don't take if you need to get an A, she takes points off easier than any polisci prof I've had at PCC. She is also very bias and picks favorites, and ridicules students she disagrees with.
Dr. Anderson was challenging but great! I am so sorry I did not take the class face to face in the longer semester. She cares and wants you to learn. She gives so many opportunities and does not baby. This is college!
Anderson's POLS001 is a challenging course, but engaging if you stay on top of the readings. Quizzes and essays are demanding, but unstuckstudy AI proved helpful for study prep. Overall, a solid class if you're willing to put in the work.
Hardest class I ever took at PCC including some very difficult maths. If you are a Marxist definitely take this class, if you are anything but avoid it. Never seen a teacher so blatantly take points off because you don't completely agree with her opinions, and she is by far the toughest grader I have had at PCC with bi-weekly long essay exams.
Unreasonable grader; nothing above a B+, average is always D's/C's, left-leaning liberal who uses this course to indoctrinate students into her political beliefs. Required readings are also extremely biased. As a politics professor, isn't it basic principle to be neutral, not letting your own views affect our learning and understanding of politics?
Do not take this professor hands down one of the worst professors I have ever taken. She takes points off the littlest things and will never give you a 100% on an assignment. I took her winter/summer class and there was an essay every week. Her tests are unorganized and you can't even find some of the questions in the textbook. I do not recommend.
Professor Anderson was great! She offers so much assistance yet is challenging in this challenging times. I learned so much and believe it will help me down the road.
Honestly It was a lot of work but I learned a lot.
She gives a lot of assignment and tough grader.Unreasonable and will give you C or D.
Her quizzes make no sense, she is super picky for no reason, and she will not allow for resubmissions.
Very tough grader. Her class is definitely not easy so if you're thinking of taking her class for credit, be prepared to put in the extra work
