She is a REALLY good teacher. Very clear on what you need to know and will go the extra mile to hlep you understand. Even outside of class time!!!!

She is a really sweet and helpful teacher. She pulls almost all of her test questions from the notes in class. I found her class easy because of this reason.

BEST MICROBIOLOGY TEACHER AT SCC. She is the nicest teacher I have ever had. She is almost to nice and some seem to take advantage. Microbio is hard and she keeps it simple enough to understand . Uses powerpoint presentations to lecture.

Suzanne is really nice, but her teaching style drives me a little bit nuts. She is a good teacher, but I feel like it's a kindergarten class by the way she constantly asks "Does that make sense". It's not her fault, but I really don't like going to her class. It's really boring, which sucks because micro used to interest me. Oh well.

I liked her allot! If you missed a test you could come in and take it on your own time. I like how she taught she explained things over if you did not get it the first time. She would also do that on her test or quizzes! i would love to take her for MicroBiology but she is not doing it during the summer. Overall I love this teacher!!

She's a good teacher. Study her notes and objectives and you'll do well on tests. My only complaint is that she is super slow to grade things. That drove me crazy having to wait a week to find out my grades on papers.

My only frustration with the class was that there was too much busy work and not enough real world discussion - she really didn't stray from her power point presentations. I wish she had because I'm sure she has a wealth of knowledge to share.

Super sweet teacher, very easygoing, lots of extra credit offered. Make sure you're prepared for the lab final, it is tough and worth a lot of points. She goes over a lot of information, tests are mostly multiple choice, few short answer questions. She's very helpful and very nice.

Professor Bassett is honestly the best teacher I've ever had. She bends over backwards to help students, pushing back test dates and giving a ton of extra credit. Yes it's college level biology, you will have to study, but if you fail it's on you. Use the study guides, ask questions, show up to class and you will get a great grade.

I took her hybrid class so her lectures were online, which was great because you can pause and re-watch lectures. I didn't use my book at all because the lectures covered everything you need to know. Use the study guides and you'll do great!

Susan is a wonderful teacher, and loves what she teaches. She is very nice to students. She knows the material very well, but isn't afraid to tell you if she doesn't know the answer to a question (will allow you to research for extra credit). Labs were very clear and made learning very easy on a subject that's pretty hard. Take Susan for bio 260!

As long as you know all the material on the study guide, lecture exams are easy. All material you need to know is given in her slides. Pre-lab quizzes before every lab are vital, those add up. Two lab exams, the first is fairly easy, the second is more difficult (you are allowed a cheat sheet though). Overall the professor is great.

Microbiology is a hard class, but Suzanne makes it fun and understandable. She is the nicest, most fair teacher you will ever meet. Genuinely cares about her students, if you need to take Micro, take her class.

I absolutely love her! I watched all of her videos online which really helped me. I took notes on all of her lectures, & filled out/memorized her study guide. I usually got 92% and up on her exams. She does offer EC & if you do it all it can really boost your grade. I ended up with over 100%. I HIGHLY recommend the hybrid class. For me, easy A.

I took her hybrid biology class. I am not very good at biology but she made it bearable. Her study guides are just like her exams so they are easy if you put in time to study. I took this class as a hybrid, and it definitely wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. She was so nice and helpful when I had any questions. She gives out study guides for each test and they are exactly what you need to know. Her online lectures were very easy to follow and understand. She also walks you through her labs step by step.

Amazing instructor. The course is tough, the labs can be overwhelming. The book is not necessary but helpful. It is very obvious that Suzanne cares about her students and wants them to succeed. I took her hybrid Bio 160 course; online lectures & on-campus lab. She teaches & tests directly off the objectives, no surprises. The material is tough but you should do fine if you study.

Suzanne is anazing. I took this class as a prerequisite for the program I am applying for. She is honestly the most caring teacher I have ever had. As long as you study her objectives and actually pay attention to her lectures you will be fine. I averaged about 20 to 30 hours a week studying (summer quarter, a test every week) I passed with a 3.8.

Suzanne is a great professor; however, I wouldn't recommend taking her hybrid class, especially if you're an auditory or visual learner. Suzanne is an easy grader and gives many extra credit opportunity outside of class. Be willing to study and put in the time to get a good grade. Ask questions, she will always be willing to help and answer them.

She gives a study guide to EACH test and if you fill it out and go over and you will pass the test. If you are having problems with filling out the study guide, then go to her during her office hours and she will help you. She offers extra credit! She has online videos of the lectures for you to review before a test. The final isn't cumulative!

I would say that Professor Bassett's class is more difficult for those of us who have a harder time comprehending scientific vocabulary and concepts, but there's one thing I have to say: my mental health was so bad this quarter that I spaced multiple tests and she offered to open them back up so I could get some credit. She cares about students.

Biology is a hard subject to learn, but Prof. Bassett made it tolerable. She's without a doubt one of the most kind and caring professors I've met. There's a lot fo coursework because you go through SO much information throughout the quarter, but she makes it fairly easy to keep up with. I would happily take one of her classes again!

Excellent Professor! I was nervous going in, but I actually quite enjoyed the content. If you put in the work, Dr. Bassett gives you every chance to succeed. She breaks the quarter down day by day, which helps to make it manageable. Very responsive to questions! Pretty lucky, because with her resume, she could teach at any school in the country!

Choosing the 3 best things was difficult for this instructor. She constantly shows how much she cares for her students and wants to see us succeed. You have to watch the lectures so you can add information (smart on her part). She gives great study guides, and there is extra credit. I learned so much from Professor Bassett. Fantastic teacher!

Suzanne was wonderful, she is extremely caring and genuinely concern in your success in her class. There is a lot of video lectures about 30-45 mins long, however she gives plenty of opportunity for extra credit and works with you if need to review your test/exams for a better grade in class.

Dr. Bassett is an amazing instructor and person. So extremely helpful and willing to do anything to help. Due to extenuating circumstances my grade was lower then I'd hoped but she allowed me extra time to catch up on things. Her tests are difficult but totally doable if you follow the objective study guides that she provides.

The class is very straightforward in the coursework. It's a lot of lecture and reading, with the lectures being anywhere from 25 minutes to an hour and a half long. She didn't help much with questions but was willing to give extra time to complete catch-up work. There are some easy online labs, and more confusing home labs to complete.

This was a challenging class for me (I hate Biology), but she made this class a lot of fun and easy(ish) to understand. If I was ever confused on anything, she would respond within 12 hours of my message. Her Lecture/Exam Objectives actually match her exams, so they were a good study source. This class will take time and effort, but worth it.

You have to try to fail her class - it's so easy! Most of her exams are multiple choice with MAYBE two or three fill in the blank or short answer questions. She gives clear goals on what she expects you to know by the end of each lecture, plus she gives complete guides and handouts. Very sweet. I wish I could take all my science classes from her!

Her class is set up with lectures that are easy to take notes on with learning outcomes that you need to answer to help you on the tests. She is very flexible with participation and makeup work and overall just wants to see you succeed.

If you have to take microbiology- TAKE HER! She's lovely, super sweet and despite some of the tests being difficult, I never felt super stressed in this class. Tons of extra credit opportunities. You practically have to TRY to fail this class.

Awesome teacher! She's very clear on what to expect for the class and she's extremely easy to talk to. DO NOT TAKE THE CLASS DURING SUMMER quarter. It's a heavy load with a ridiculous amount of homework. There were two tests per week (lab and lecture tests) with homework during the week. It's awful (hence my grade). Great teacher though.

Dr Bassett was incredible. This is a tough class with much to learn, and she made it the most pleasant it could be. This is THE professor to take. Provides all the materials you need to succeed, lecture videos, powerpoints, extra resources, PRACTICE EXAMS. Like what more could you ask for! My last professor at the falls was HORRIBLE. This instructor truly wants you to succeed and will help you during and outside of class hours with any help you need. She teaches to her objectives and tests to them as well. Suzanne is the kindest professor in the world, but I could not succeed in her class. I technically passed, but missed my program requirement by 1.5%'s which was really disheartening considering how hard I tried. I suggest taking at Spokane Falls if you struggle with exams! Every one of her exams is 90-105 questions.

She is simply amazing very organized and clear on what to study and memorize and her lectures are fun! Loved both her biological and microbiology class. She also gives a few extra credit assignments to help you bump up your grade if needed, responds to emails, grades fast, she's fair and wants you to learn to the best of your ability

I took her for microbiology last quarter, and she taught me more in one quarter than 2 other previous biology classes. Her tests are difficult and 100+ questions but it's really interesting material. For her it 's more important that we really internalize the material and she doesn't hold your GPA hostage with a few bad quiz attempts. Labs are very relaxed and interesting. She was a very good professor. I didn't rate perfect just because sometimes it seemed a bit unorganized and too much material in a two hour class period, then L allowed the next class to barge in early. So cut us even shorter. But overall it's been a great experience learning with her.

This class has a pretty decent workload, so be prepared to spend a lot of time on it. Questions on exams are not necessarily similar to the ones on the exam review. The labs are fun and engaging, and there are a few extra credit opportunities offered.

Suzanne is an incredibly sweet professor who is willing to do everything she can to help you succeed in her class. HEAVY workload, however, so stay on track. Lots of homework. Her extra credit study guides are a good resource for studying. Labs are not graded, and many quizzes and homework assignments can be retaken until you get a better grade.

She's the sweetest person you will probably ever meet. She wants you to succeed. That said, this class is a lot, especially if you aren't good with memorization. So many exams that will determine your entire grade. It seems a little unfair to be expected to memorize everything from multiple units for the exams.

I worked full time and have kids, and other tough classes so it was a challenge. Managed to finish with a 3.3 GPA. I took Bassett for both BIOL160 and now 260. She and Nita are both the best, and while microbiology is an incredibly hard subject, they do everything in their power to support you through it. Lectures can be time-consuming, and tests are pretty brutal too, but consistent studying (FLASHCARDS!) and doing all of the extra credit will see you through!
