Had her for Bus and Prof Comm. This particular class was Distance Ed and met(Summer Session) for presentations. The syllabus clearly explained what was expected of you. Reasonable grading system, even for those not comfortable with public speaking.

Lots of work here, you should really be prepared for the presentations, which occurred every other week for us, because that's when we met. Make sure you choose a group that doesn't slack off and puts effort into their work.

sure you have to put in a little more work than you should for a speech class, but it's not all that bad.

I got an A in her class, I took this class on-line and you just meet with your group (branch she will designate you) like three times a semester and then for the final exam. Make sure you kind of read the book for the final, it covers every chapter from the book and its about 15 chapters...I would recommend for you to read the chapters..

I love her. shes totally my favorite teacher, ive had 3 classes with her and she is awesome. very understanding of cir****stances and gives every opportunity to do well in the class. if you give her attitude, shell give it back but if you give her respect it will get you everywhere.

I liked her. She knows her stuff. You have 3 times to meet during the semester and a final. I did well on the presentations and a 75 on the final and still made an A.

She tries her best to make an extremely boring subject somewhat enjoyable. I give her credit for that. She can be harsh on students who don't show up, but she has all the right to do so. Not the best professor, but I would recommend her.

you never see buck, you see the professor your assigned to according to your branch. i had franko who was totally awesome you only go 2 class 4 times and thats when your branch meets the 1st 3 times is for your speeches and the 4th time is 4 your final. i got an A in the class

Not much to say. 3 presentations, and a final test. You don't meet the professor, she hands the work off to others mostly. The whole class boils down to this: can you speak easily in front of an audience??? If you can, its an EASY A. If you can't don't take it, unless you're happy with a C. I got an A, easily. Final is all from the book.

Its also a dist ed class so u only have to go 4 presentations & final;rest is online. U pick a day/time to make presentns.She or TAs grade presntns depend on which time u pick.Many say she hard grader but I dont think so; made A's on all.If u not good speaker,practic ALOT.I heard other TAs graded harder than Buck.MUST study text 4 final 2 do well.

The fact of the matter is most people don't like speaking in public. Get used to it people!! Speaking in front of others is a fact of life if you want to make it in this world... I took the distance learning class. It could not be more straight forward - do 3 good speeches, watch the lecture, pass the test. And yes, she is hot.

i took 3356 and persuasion with her, she is a great teacher and tons of fun but you have to come to class! tests are multiple choice and we had a take home exam because of a hurricane, i made A's on everything and enjoyed her teaching - would definitely recommend her :)

You need to go to class if you are enrolled in the distance education course. Get together with your assigned group and you'll be fine. Practice for your speech/presentation! You will have to practice. She's a bit of a strict grader, but fun nonetheless. She is very humorous and up to earth. Study hard for the final because it's worth 20%-abit hard

grades hard on the first speech but is easy on the next couple. the final is common sense.. you can read the summaries after each chapter to pass. i made an 80 from reading the summaries.

Great class. I took the online course and found it to be very easy. Put in all your efforts into the 3 presentations and the few assignments (which are all easy) and you will do great. I didn't study for the final or read hardly any chapters, didn't view any lectures and still got a B+ in the course. Highly recommend class.

Great class - and the TA, Connors, had great tips. I got an A, and thought it was easy. Many who said it was hard simply failed to adhere to the speech guidelines. EX: the speech time limit was 5 1/2 min. Some went 3-5 minutes over. That will cost you points. And don't think that PPT with tons of words will get you a good grade. Think simplicity.

Professor Buck is a great teacher. Although she is flexible and understanding, she grades according to her guidelines, which is good. If you don't pass her class with a good grade it is your fault. I highly recommend her.

GREAT prof easy class..Take HER...you'll learn valuable information.. gotta watch the videos and study the ppt for the final exam though.

She responds to emails quickly. Seems like a complicated class at first but after you figure everything out, really easy class. just make sure you follow the evaluation sheet when doing your speech because graders are sort of strict. comprehensive final is pretty easy. just do a little light studying.

Followed first day hand-out, attendence is a MUST!!! Do your work and show up on time and you will be fine. 3 tests, 5 or 6 Chapter Summaries, attendence and participation, 2 video clips...thats all the grades i believe. if there is a past student listen to them

Prof. Buck is funny & nice. She is not the problem, it is this class! I took it in the summer & I hated it. I'm not a good public speaker, but I worked VERY hard & struggled even still. I was one of the few people who had their speech completely memorized & still made a b-. This class is a GPA killer. Don't take it unless you are an amazing speaker

TAKE HER IN SUMMER. you give 4 speeches and only have 5 class mtgs. if you arent a fairly good speaker, dont take the class.the final test wasnt difficult if u watch the videos and take notes. Her TA's do most of the grading, but shes not a harsh grader herself. Got a B and Im very outgoing and great speaker. my effort in the class 6 of 10.

Very respectable teacher. You have to show up for your presentations even if you take the internet class. I've only met her once, but she's really nice. She sticks to her syllabus and is extremely helpful if you don't understand something. I'd take her again for sure.

LOVE HER!!! Had her for 2 classes so far. One was ONLINE (intro speech) and the other was IN CLASS (interpersonal). She's extremely helpful in both types of classes. She responds to emails very fast! In class, she's hilarious! Very clear in what she wants from assignments. Gives lots of EXTRA CREDIT! Grades with curve if no one makes 100. TAKE HER!

Great class, great teacher! I took the online (you do have to present your speeches in class). She is very helpful and the class is not boring. Presentations are pretty easy and can help you throughout your career.

There are two grades in this class. You have a paper you must write over 15 articles and then there is a take home exam. Attendance is not mandatory but it can help with the final exam (which is in essay form).

This class was pretty easy. Attendance is mandatory and you have a chapter outline due each class (very easy). There are two debates (also very easy) and 3 tests (1 is take home). Didn't study or have to work very hard at all in this class and made an A. Take her if you can.

3 speeches and 1 comprehensive final. Prof. Buck is very helpful and nice even though class is a little bit chaotic. If you don't understand something then visit her weekly optional meetings. She will always help and explain you everything. I took this class for spring 2011. I liked to talk and it was easy A.

I took COMM3356 over the summer. It consisted of 3 class meetings where you give your presentations (informative, persuasive, chapter training) and 1 for the final at the ETC. I met professor Buck twice...once the first day for about 10 mins, and once on the final. We had Professor Blackburn do our grading. Difficult to make an A. Get a good group.

I took the summer class of Business and Professional Speaking. It was easy, and she worked with me on scheduling issues. She is pretty straight forward on what she wants.

3 mandatory meetings to give your speech and 1 final at ETC. I do not enjoy public speaking, but this class really helped me with the nerves. Realistically graded (I had Richardson for my branch) and good criticism to help you improve. Blackboard Learn is unorganized though, but the optional weekly meeting was very helpful. I really enjoyed COMM!

Easy class if your attend. 3 speeches- follow the rubric closely and you should be fine. We didn't use the textbook at all... everything you need is on her slides, but she will still tell you to buy the book. Some assignments are unclear so just follow the basic instructions.

This class was actually easy 3 speeches and 3 assignments outside of the speeches. Follow the guidelines and for the final study blackboard and the syllabus easy peezy. She is really helpful as well and will answer all your questions.

One of the best professors I have ever had the pleasure to meet. She demands a lot from her students yet she will do all she can to help you succeed. You can only miss one day. You will want to go to class though! PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS! She will give you hints for what's on the test. Some things on the test will be in lecture and no where else.

I don't know where her bad wrap is coming from - SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER! I wish I had her for all my classes. 3 presentations - on my second one I FROZE right in the middle and still got an A. She will do everything to help you, she answers emails over the weekend. You may not like public speaking - but if you can take her in person, take her.

Take Buck you will not regret it. Things in this class may seem a little scattered but a interesting semi fun class. Responds very quickly to emails. Great personality and very easy to tell she likes doing what she does. Highly recommend. 3 speeches 1 final.

Take Buck! She is awesome in multiple aspects. Great prof. Very clear in what she wants. Test can be tricky but as long as you listen you will be fine. Attendance is mandatory but a fun class. Take if you can.

I took this class online. It was fairly easy. There is work, but it is not intrusive. There is no final exam. The weekly quizzes count for the final exam grade. There are no tests. There are three presentations that must be made. I highly recommend this class. The professor responded to emails in a timely fashion.

Professor Buck is energetic and helpful. She maintains a 'corporate professional' type classroom & email communications to help students get use to the environment. It's helpful for students who are not accustomed to working in such settings. Pay attention to detail and do your quizes early.

Do everything, practice your speeches. Be on time and have everything ready. You will get the A with that done. I got a B b/c I was late on one speech. Got 90's on all though.

Professor Buck is a great teacher. I took her for Persuasion and was skeptical at first after reading some of the reviews. However, because it is a required course for my major, I had no choice but to take her. I was pleasantly surprised and can honestly say that as long as you do the work required, (which is easy!) you should do just fine!

Do not take this course online! Comm is very difficult online or in a big class setting. Take at a satellite campus if possible (UH Northwest). She follows the syllabus. Gives you good ideas to add to your presentations. 2 video presentations and 1 in class. Retake videos until they are good. You need book to do hw.

Professor Buck truly cares about her class, and teaching students her profession. I don't know why she has such a bad wrap; if you put in the work, you will be fine. I am not the best student, but did all my work on time, and received a B, she is a very reasonable grader. She likes well written emails, so type well. She is not bad, just do the work

took online in the summer easier if you get a group of similar students to record assignments with. learned alot.

Professor Buck may seem scary from her first couple of emails, but she is not at all. I had her Persuasion class and online COMM 3356 this semester and I have learned the most useful skills throughout my college career. Go to class and you'll know all the answers on the test. She is so nice and really funny. Loved both these courses.

Recently took this course Fall 2015, My friend who took it 2014 went over my syllabus and she said it was different. The class has 3 major video grades, work on these right away! Give your self time. You'll need the book for quizzes. Offer a little extra credit. Do it! Overall pleasant course. Takes forever to grade.

This was by far the best communications class that I have taken. The teacher is extremely helpful and professional which makes this class a "must take". You learn a lot about professional interaction and this class helped me land my job and I continue to tips and skills from here. Take time on the projects and make sure you read the instructions

Professor Buck is a wondering teacher and engages the class in what she is teaching. She is very professional and doesn't let students slack off because she cares about you getting a good grade. Her test's are very particular but not difficult if you may attention in lecture. you can even record if need be. She is very sweet.

Prof Buck is great. Don't be intimidated by other reviews. Her class isn't hard. Grade comes from 3 tests (2 MC, 1 essay), a couple EASY assignments, chapter summaries & 1 group project. She really cares about students & is passionate on what she teaches. Loved her class. Would def take her again. Just show up & don't be late & you'll be fine.

I liked that there weren't many assignments. If you read the syllabus CAREFULLY, as well as checking for any email updates from her (things are subject to change), there is no reason why you should make anything less than an A. If you email her professionally, she will kindly reply but if you show no professionalism, she will be mean.

I TRULY don't understand why she has so many bad reviews. This was one of the most straight forward classes I have ever taken. Yes there will be work, but Prof. Buck always answered my emails within 2 days max. She can be a little sassy, but I understand why; students do not follow the instructions that she has already given 100 times! Take her!

Listen, Professor Buck is a tough , but she genuinely cares about her students. Is her class passable? YES! Does she give out easy A's? NO! Which makes her grades all the more valuable. Her class is not for the weak or unmotivated student. As long as you do your work, follow the instructions, READ the syllabus you will be fine.
