This is the most interesting English class I have ever sat in on.

Dr. Gates is SUPER HOT! She is very kind and helpful. Her class was a ton of fun, and I learned a lot about how to write. The best added bonus is that she is an excellent singer!

I took Children's Lit with Dr. Gates a couple years ago, and before her, I'd never seen a teacher so dedicated to the subject efficiently as well as making the class enjoyable and memorable for all attending. I'll be taking a Poetry workshop with her this coming semester, so I look forward to that.

i took her for three classes she is that good!!!! the easiest A garenteed. she is sooo accomadating to your schedule. if you miss a paper turn it in late no late penelty! always an interesting class no matter what she is teaching. her classes are so great that you can take them for fun. great for fixing that GPA !

The best english teacher I've had!! Dr. Gates is nice and warm. Really makes you feel comfortable. Lots of work, but it can be done. Very helpful. I got an A in her class. I still go to her for help on papers. I really don't see her as a teacher, but a friend!

It's my 1st semester in college after 18 years....and I couldn't have asked for a better teacher!! The material keeps my attention, she explains things well and adds a little humor with it. She also works with you to make sure you pass her class. If you need ENG 1-A I highly recommend her.

I took her class 2 yrs ago, & I still remember her as a great teacher. You get to write about what you want - memories & stuff - which I think is more valuable than writing essays on some book. Very warm and friendly. Just a total sweetheart. If you have a problem, just let her know & she'll help you out. I would take her if she taught Eng 1B/1C.

i had enjoyed being in her class. she cares about her students. if you need help she will make sure to help you. she is the type of teacher that comes to school with a good attitude. she is not mean and she is very understanding. TAKE HER CLASS YOU WILL LIKE IT.

she's very nice and somewhat easy on grading. she uses a program which you would turn in all essays with it. she also gives you example papers so you will have a guideline as to how to write your paper. there is no homework. just approx 4 essays. 2 of them are team written. class is quite interesting.

Took her class online and loved it. Topics for papers are interesting and fun. I've never been good at writing and I got A's and B's on every paper. Super helpful if you need it. Gives examples and clear cut instructions on what she expects for the papers. An awesome professor.

Dr. Gates is a great professor. She helps you in every aspect of the class. Her lessons are crytal clear. If you are planning on taking an English online class, I highly recommend her. She is great. I just took her English 1C class online critical thinking. She is awesome. I believe she also teaches on campus classes.

Dr. Gates is the bomb! I took her English 1C class over the summer and found her to still be very engaging and helpful. She is also very funny and "approachable". It was a 6-week class but I wish it had gone on longer - I learned so much that I actually use. On top of everything else, she is a hottie!!!

She is a very nise teach her asigment get boring when it only about spies. She does leave work that needs to be done online that is boring. But she is easy going and really cool.

I took both 1a and 1c online classes from her. A's from both classes. Her classes are well organized. You always know what you have to do ahead of time. If you follow her directions and apply what she taught, you will become a better writer.

I took her during winter and she was super easy! a lil strange at first but you'll get used to it. She was a lil unclear when we did the first assignment but she is a very fair and easy grader. Just read the book and do your essays. not hard at all i loved her!

I've taken this professor for english A in class, she was amazing. The subject was so fun and she's very sweet. The work isnt hard either. I have her in an online course now and I still understand clearly. She's a very good professor and I would highly recommend her to anyone. She's a great professor and will actually teach you too the right way!!!

I took his online class, it was awesome. All the tests were repeatable and only the highest scores were recorded. Although it was an online class, I can tell Prof. Gates is most likely as awesome in person as online. Take her!

She is such a nice person! It was really easy work too. I am terrible at writing essays, but she ended up giving me B's on them! Just keep up with your work and you'll definitely pass with an A. Plus the assignment she gives you are interesting and fun!

Gates is a easy professor and the class is not even close to being difficult! She is hype for ever class and the assignments are not hard at all! All you do is read a book (during your own time), do a online weekly assignment, and discuss the online assignment with the group you assigns you into! If you want a SUPER easy class, then take her class.

Took her Spring 2014. Her personality is great. She likes to interact with the students. You won't have any hw if you finish them in class. Didn't think this class would be that easy. AND I learned a lot how to read well. RECOMMEND HER!!! Shes great :)

Took Ms. Gates in the fall of 2015 for a combo class of English 84A. She is one of the best teachers that I have taken in this campus. She explains to you what you need to do to pass the class. She makes class really interesting . I am now going to take her for English 1C!

She is very clear in what she wants out of her students. As long as you keep up with your reading, you should be fine. I really enjoyed her and her book she chose us to read. When writing our essays she really gave good feedback. I would def take her again.

Professor Gates makes English 1A interesting! I enjoyed the books we read, which we later incorporated into essays. There are five essays, several discussion posts, and modules tests. Completing eight hours on MyWritingLab was a pain. Be prepared to write essays week after week. I would recommend her

She's a really nice professor. Will help if you need it. If you listen to the lecture (which can get a bit boring at times) and do the homework, you will actually learn something. Our homework was mostly online and some reading on our own. I thought this class was pretty easy.

Probably one of the best English teachers I've had. She is always there for you and such a joy to talk to. Every time you write an essay she compliments what you did to raise your esteem in writing, its really refreshing. I would highly recommend taking her class; it's very interesting and revolves around murder cases that actually happened.

Took the online class. Easy to understand material and clear due dates. Only issue I have: SHE DOESNT GRADE ESSAYS IN A TIMELY MANNER!!!! FINAL ESSAY WAS DUE AND I STILL DIDN'T RECEIVE GRADES FOR PRIOR ESSAYS!! Only downfall!!!!

I enjoyed professor Gates so much! I took her ENG 1 class and passed with flying colors and actually missed a ton of classes. She's very goofy and fun to talk to (and this is coming from a someone who HATES talking to professors). Her class was about LA murders (Marilyn Monroe, Black Dahlia) and was easy to follow.

Gates was super easy. Very helpful and responsive when needed. Attendance is important and she takes roll everyday. One of the best professors!

Ive taken her twice once for EngAand Eng1A. She really wants her students to be creative writer and passionate about writing. If your not a creative writer or passionate about writing then youll be come one through her. She gives great feedback on your essays there a total of four-five essays and if you know the topic you will be good.

Honestly my favorite class! She gives a great lecture and breaks everything down so we can understand everything!

I honestly enjoyed writing essays for her class. She's an excellent professor who gives thorough feedback and ample time to finish assignments. Her Canvas modules and rubrics are very detailed yet easy to understand. There are also reading assignments, but they hone your critical thinking skills and help you become a better writer. I learned a lot!

Try to take her for winter intermission. Clear grading criteria and provides you with sample essays. She accepts late essays and doesn't deduct points for them.

Easy A. She lets you submit late work until the last day of the semester and she's the kindest professor. As long as you communicate she will do everything she can to support you. Super easy weekly quizzes based on the modules, the discussions are clear, easy reading annotations, and she requires 4 essays. Overall take her class if you can !!

i took her for a hybrid class and all i can say is she is the sweetest ever. sparked my interest in writing again. her feedback is never harsh and she always gives tips to make your writing better. the themes of her class are really fun too, i even made it my plan to take her again next semester. please take her class, you will not regret it!!!!

Very organized and structured class. 4 Essay's total & your final essay is basically a revision of your 1st with additional sources. Provides all reading material except for one low-cost book. Weekly discussions and quizzes. Responds promptly to emails. Provides good feedback. Reading material is different than your average class.

4 papers, discussions, quizzes, highlight/annotated every week. They were fairly easy, you did have to put in effort into her assignments but she is a fair grader, gives feedback on your assignments. I recommend taking this class because she leaves assignments open until last day of class. (I recommend doing them on time so ur not falling behind)
