Very good professor. She makes learning fun

Mrs. Hess is a trip... she is very nice and loves to teach... she is easy...just do your work and study... and you will pass...

I enjoyed when I took her for ENC0001 and ENC0021. When I went to her for the first time for help she was the first one that read my paragraph out loud. I realize now that I needed that done. Now since I had her I am confident in my writing.

she is so understanding of that fact that not everyone was born to write, but she gives you confidence. she is a great mentor

Prof. Hess is very laid back and understanding. She helps you to understand where your weak areas are and where you need to improve. She always responds to e-mails and if you fall behind she is pretty good about letting you make up the work. I highly recommend her. I'm going to take her for ENC 1102

Mrs. Hess is an awesome teacher. Just make sure you will be able to put up with going off topic a lot! Very helpful with everything, will e mail or talk on the phone. Again just make sure you like to waste a ton of time in class talking about who knows what!!

Never a dull moment with her. She is a person who loves her job and her job is to help you. She makes it challenging and you actually learn something.

She is a very undersatnding teacher, and she will always be here for you as a student.

She's a crack-up! Extremely nice. She will make clear exactly what she expects; therefore it will be YOUR job to get it done. You can go to her for help though! It will be a challenge but it you can succeed in her class- just do your best!

Mrs. Hess is very helpful and informative. Make sure you study and pay attention to the lectures. She gives pop-quizzes on assigned chapters. The quizzes are easy if you read the chapters she assigns. I was worried about ENC1101, but I received an A. She is very funny and loves to talk in different voices. Her class is never boring.

PROFESSOR HESS IS A NICE LADY AS FAR AS PERSONALITY, BUT SHE TAKES ENGLISH VERY SERIOUS AND SHE DOES GRADE VERY HARD. SHE IS ALMOST WHAT YOU CAN CALL A PERFECTIONIST.

LOVE HER! Great teacher, exciting, jokes, loud. If your not a morning person, dont take her, becasue she will wake you up! Can use notecards on test, test every other week, work out of a workbook.fairly easy class, with a fun teacher!

I love her, she is awesome, caring, very helpful, fun, and strives for you to get the material! I would recommend anyone to take her class! I am taking her again next term for ENC1101. Just make sure you attend class, practice checks are a must, and make note cards for her test! Do all this it would be an easy grade!

Amazing professor! Shes super sweet and really fun, and she makes learning the material very simple. The classes are also very structured.

She exlpains the subject well. I am better at writing now than i was in high school. She won't give away free A's. you have to do the work. She gives quizes on the reading assignments.

She is wonderful. Every class is fun and interesting, if you do the work, and follow her instructions, there is no reason not to do well <3 She's amazing.

I'm not the best at writing essays, but she gave great advice to improve. I took this class as a hybrid. As long as you try you should do fine.

She's a really nice teacher, but definitely not an easy teacher. When it comes to essays, she grades hard. The class I took was hybrid so it might have been why it was hard. She does make you slightly a better writer, but if you're not willing to put an effort then don't take her class.

She is a great teacher. She's a very lively and proactive teacher. She often gets off topic in her lectures but still covers the material. I would definitely take her again.

Amazing teacher, she really knows her stuff. She grades fair, she is not giving you a free ride but if you know the material you are fine. Fun lively class, I am taking her again for ENC1102 :)

Great teacher. If you come to class and pay attention, you will have no problems. She is very easy going but doesn't tolerate slacking. She also tells you everything that will be on the test a week before you take it. Just pay attention and attend class and you will make an easy A!

Loves what she does and really teaches well. Her "off topic" is almost always relevant. She gives real life examples and will help in any way possible. There is work in her class so if you have no desire to write take another teacher.

Professor Hess is wonderful! I am an English major, and just when I thought I was nearly perfect, she challenged me to do better. She has an incredible heart for her students and for her subject! I wish I didn't have to leave her class because she was so helpful and lovely to be around. A professor who challenges you CARES ABOUT YOUR EDUCATION.

I loved the readings and the assignments! For an online class, the instructions were clear and due dates were given well ahead of time so they could be completed early if you wanted, or not. Either way you are prepared for what is expected of you. The professor is helpful and gives excellent feedback. I am a better writer because of her!

Wow, since she only taught one AML course this semester I assume some of you were my classmates. Maybe your poor grades are because you didn't write well or participate in discussions on time, if at all. Your grade reflects your effort, not Professor Hess.

Hess was a great teacher. I took her session B ENC1011 class and loved it! You have to work for your grade--we had a paper to write almost every week, and on the nights we didn't write, we read from the book, but that should kind of be expected from a college comp course, right?

Changed my life for the better!

Hess is funny and easy to pay attention to in class. Her grading on essays is a bit harsh, but can be fixed if you really study/pay attention to your grammar and structure. I've always been considered a good writer and I can never manage to get over a B on my essays.

There are 5 essays she lets you revise and you can ask her for help. She does 36 journal entries, which you should not procrastinate on. She's sweet and funny, but lots of work in her class. You gotta work hard in her class, and quizzes are based on student sample essays.

One of the nicest professors I have had. I would def take her again. She truly cares about you. You would have to try to fail her class. Just do the work and try your best to show up. I hate english and she changes that and my fear of writing. Makes lots of cheesy jokes but is entertaining

She's a good professor and gives feedback so you know what to fix. However, there's a lot of essays and reading to do. This class is passable if you do your work but don't expect to get your final grade right away, you won't have it even after that class has way been pass over.

There is a lot of work. Don't procrastinate. She is a great teacher but you have to work at a fast pace.

I thoroughly enjoyed Professor Hess. I honestly didn't think I would, as she is straight forward, and since everything is online could come off as a bit abrasive, or rude. But she is truly a nice woman, and very understanding/caring. She was easily accessible and answered all my questions. Lot's of discussion boards, LOL and lots of reading.

Professor Hess was hands down the best prof I've ever had in my college experience. She explained everything until you understood completely, helped with writing papers, and made learning boring English tools fun with her humor and wonderful personality. The poor reviews must be from people who never cared, for she is nothing but extraordinary.

She is super sweet and spends a good bit of time on tangents and telling stories. Super easy A. There is a book, but in my experience, you don't even need it. Her homework is mostly based on logic and common sense. You would really have to try in order to fail her class. I definitely recommend her.

If you actually want to learn, I would recommend you take her classes; if you don't want to put the work in you will not succeed. Great teacher, very knowledgeable, and really wants you to learn and have success in the course and gives excellent and valuable feedback.

Prof Hess is, hands down, one of my most favorite professors and because of her, my writing has improved significantly. Her passion for not only the subjects she teaches, but for students, is part of what makes her a top rating for me. She is hilarious and when learning is fun, it's easier to grasp and commit to memory. Tough grader, but worth it!
