Good Professor
This is a hybrid/online course so if you cannot teach yourself, steer clear. She always has a good attitude which helps the time go by. very laid back, lectures are brief which kinda makes it hard to take notes. Don't expect an easy A. There's plenty of online hw/quizes/test that are pretty challenging. Overall she's good professor
very good professor. really cares about students. lectures were easy to understand. labs were fun
She speaks clearly & is very helpful; always try's make sure everyone is tracking. Spends too much time on labs rather than focusing on the course lecture content; this is good if you like writing & discussing research papers rather than focusing on more the textbook topics
The class is 4 credits 1 for lab 3 for the lecture but this teacher spends 90 of the time on labs and then the last minute she wants to throw in 2 chapters of lecture more like a studio class every day all students are drained from multiple activities she thinks she has to use up every last minute of class time even if it is just a waste
Avoid her class. Group projects are a pain and she doesn't spend enough time on actually teaching the subject. Always too rushed and focuses too much on lab. AVOID!
Activity Overload. There is no time to read the book in in this class; all you do is activities and projects that have nothing to do with physiology. This prof. is new and thinks she needs to keep everyone unit the last minute of class. She spends most of class on labs and activities then wants to rush in 2 chapters in the last 10 minutes.
First test average was a 62. She gave a study guide but the test was not reflective of that; study guide was just a copy of chapter topics & sections. You are blogged down with group projects and assignments in this class; no time to review the textbook material. All the answers to questions are vague; "maybe," "possibly"
Amazing how this 3.8GPA student is now looking at possibly failing my very first science class at PCC. She rushes through 2 chapters and won't give the ppt slides out. Her tests are not cut and dry and I can deal with that, but when you give a study guide that reflects the entire chapter makes no sense to me. Lectures are very long and dragged out.
The worst teacher at PCC. Ask anyone (ANYONE!) in the class & they will tell you "I hate this class." The prof says "read that chapter on your own" and let me know if you have questions." tests are poorly constructed; average is about 63 for 1st two tests; labs are pointless & a waist of time; you will not be able to keep up with reading.
She's hot and she is smart.
This final project was given to the other physio classes and they had 15 minutes to do it: she gave us 5 minutes and we rushed through everything and didnt learn anything: she checks the box rather than care for the students. she will unmotivate you. Avoid wasting your time.
Power points are super long and she refuses to give you the slides, and she talks while you are trying to write so you don't comprehend what she is saying. I learn more from her "crash course" videos than from her. Her study guides are basic (if she gives you one) and do not reflect the test at all. I am an A students who got 50-60% on ALL tests.
Very nice professor but sometimes her instructions are a little vague and seems to take the whole class period when it comes to labs. Tests and quizzes are challenging and some what hard. But turning work in online seems okay. Also, she assigns group projects.
Suzanna Iwanicki is by far one of my favorite professors of all time. I have high standards for science professors, having had a number of really great ones. However, this professor made the class fun, exciting and challenging but in a very good way. She's so smart and while some people find her exams hard, I personally thought they were very fair.
Continuing my review on *Suzanne, I just want to point out a few things. Her classes are fun and note taking is important during her slides. I worked off of the textbook too, which is really helpful and I have straight As and a few Bs in this class. She gives a lot of extra credit to help you. If you really try, you'll get an A. Loved her class.
I took the Hybrid Bio 11 with Professor Iwanicki and have to say I enjoyed the class! Be sure to do ALL of the assignments, follow directions and you'll do fine. Its pretty fast pace so make sure you keep up! And don't be afraid to ask questions, she is really helpful!
Taking Professor Iwanicki for biology 11 was fun. I never thought I would have to work really hard for it because of the assignments assigned online especially the amazing group of people I worked with. But she was a tough grader and if you like working choose this teacher trust me it's worth it.
shes nice. a picky grader, but overall an awesome teacher. #pccbio11
I like her. She's really nice and funny and chill. Her lectures are good but sometimes her tests don't follow the lecture nor the textbook. Good professor overall. I recommend her.
She's a very nice teacher. If you need anything or have any questions, she'll be more than happy to help and explain. About 50% of the work is online. Most lectures are online. Lots of youtube videos posted to help learn. The entire class consisted of group work, in both labs and class. Quizzes and exams were all online.
Very nice professor. The entire class is based on group projects pretty much, which I hated. Even during lectures, we would do group work. Tests and quizzes are all online, which made the class easier. As long as you do the work, you should have no problem getting a good grade.
Every project we did was a group project, She hardly gives extra credit. Lectures that she gives are not specific, talked to us like we already knew the material. Book is optional we never needed it in class . As soon as we had a project done, we were already working on the next one. Homework is hard. I was confused as hell in this class.
The class has too much work and lecture materials are not reflective on what is covered on the exams. Some days she is nice, other days she is moody and looks tired. Taking this class was a horrible experience. Be prepared to work 5-10 hours a week for all the dumb projects.
Nobody would hate her. She is an angle :-) To be honest, I didn't study hard for this class. I usually studied about 20 minutes a week. She wants her every student to get an A or at least B. She always helps anyone in need. The only problem is that her class would be not the best for the ones who want to learn in depth or major in biology.
Simply put, Prof. Iwanicki is the best at PCC if you need to get an A and don't want to put much time this subject. Just focus on attending every class. Don't skip any class, then you can attain your goal without any effort. SUPER EASY PEASY CLASS.
took hybrid bio 11. Lots of group work and projects. don't take if you don't like group projects. Every lab and lecture your have to get with a group. Online test aren't easy. Quizs are difficult and weekly. If you stay on top of the tons of work you should pass with a B/C
Professor Iwanicki is my favorite professor in the department of biology. She always tries to answer all questions from her students. That being so, she is lenient with grading. Even though you ruin some exams, you still have chances to raise your grade because she offers many extra credits. Take the chances if you need. Almost everyone got A.
Prof. Suzanne is ok, the class itself is a nightmare. Too many group projects and online assignments that require 10 hrs per week of work. Some of the projects don't seem to have anything to do with biology. Avoid.
Beware of group projects! the prof breaks down the course into 3 main group projects but throughout the semester she adds at least 15 smaller group projects. Disorganized, grades really late after things are due. She expects so much to be done in such a short amount of time. Little extra credit opportunities.
Too many group projects. After the Thanksgiving break we were all exhausted and fed-up with the class. Assignments are passed back weeks after, so you don't get an idea on where you stand in the class. Although she is enthusiastic half of the time, it looks like she doesn't enjoy teaching us.
The semester will consume you with all of the group projects. In addition, the professor didn't seem knowledgeable on the subject matter.
One of my all-time favorite Professors. She is very clear and organized in her lectures. She really cares about her students and takes our feedback into consideration. Review the study guides and you should be fine.
I took Prof. Suzane for last semester and it was pretty chill. She basically gives you all the tools you need to get an A. She takes time during breaks to help out students who are stuck. There were online tests and they are doable if you go with the study guide. You won't need the book. I passed this course with A+(97%). Great Professor.
Prof. Suzanne is really caring and understanding even though you lack in basic biological knowledge. What you should do is take note every single of what she teaches, then you will be ok to get an A.
Now taking professor Suzanne for bio11. Simply put, if there were more professors with her ambition and dedication, our education system would be much better off. It's impossible not to love her.
She is very kind & enthusiastic. She gives a lot of help with the homework & also offers an open study session before test days. Material can be boring but she does her best to make it fun & interesting. Even though you screw up tests, don't worry because she offers many extra credits.
Loooved her so much! She's a real gem! Best prof @ pcc. Every class was very eye opening and topics were all so fun & interesting. She inspired me deeply and is the reason I switched to major in biology. I have never written a review on here but she definitely deserved it. U better take her!!!
Hands down.... the Best of the Best
There's a lot of homework but they're all easy, along with the tests as long as you actually study for it. She's an amazing professor who's very passionate about teaching bio. She's very kind and approachable. I've learned so much from her class. Overall, it's an easy class as long as you do your work and put in the effort!
I have been wanting to take her bio class and finally found one that fit my schedule. Suzanne iwanichki is the best bio instructor at PCC. She cares about the well being of her students. Show up to class, don't forget your assignments on time, then you will easily get A.
Professor Suzanne is AWESOME! She wants you to get an A and will definitely work with you to make it happen. Most got As.
she is a professor you must have. trust me, in one week, you'll like her for a lifetime. she's also very understandable. oftentimes, she'll give you extra credit. you don't need to be worried about not getting A from her class. by the way, no bio professor is better than her.
COOLEST TEACHER EVER!!! I LOVED HER BIO CLASS. SHE ONLY TEACHES BASIC CONCEPTS. SUPER EASY A CLASS.
Literally the best professor I've ever had. Amazing lectures and she cares about her students. She's available for office hours or by email; I took her up on both of these. An A is totally easy here, but you have to put in the work. If she taught any other class at PCC I would cheerfully take it, IGETC be damned. Prof. Suzanne is a star.
Suzanne is a really wonderful teacher! One of the best I had in college. Take her if possible!! She focuses on leading her students not to have trouble in keeping up with her class and getting good grades. She provided extra credits with us several times. It's so hard to fail her class!
Hands down, the easiest professor ever. I took Bio 11 last year and she gives a lot of extra credit. She is very tolerant when it comes to deadline and her grading criteria is very flexible. Take her!
Suzanne is an awesome biology professor! She does a great job balancing the class between basic concepts and lab, and makes it easy to succeed if you do the work (test retakes, extra credit).
Regardless of subject, this is one of the easiest classes to get an A at PCC. Don't miss extra credit, then u don't should take last few exams.
Just be there, do the group works and online quizzes!- so you must be there on time & actually be in class. SUPER easy, as long as you show up . Very good, super nice teacher, and she respects all of her students.
She's just an amazing prof. Her class was a pretty easy A. She creates with her students and she's a very understanding individual. She lets you re-do an easy project, attendance is pretty mandatory and if you don't miss a single class then you don't have to take the final! It's a class I wouldn't want to miss.
She is a great guy. She gave us good feedback and also encourage us on studying. Quizzes are easy but just make sure u read the study guide.
Even people who have never learnt biology would enjoy her class cauz she only handles easy parts of textbook. Before any exams not quizzes, she lets us know what will be on them. I love her class!!
Suzanne is one of the nicest people I have ever met and is probably one of, if not, my favorite professor I've had. She deeply cares about each of her students and wants everyone to succeed. She empathizes with every student and is very lenient if you have problems in or out of class. Easy class and there's very little homework.
Professor Suzanne is not only a dynamic wealth of knowledge in biology, she is also a truly passionate, dedicated, inspirational and motivational teacher that truly brings the best in each student. She is an amazing role model and she provides a dynamic learning experience in which students are welcomed in a manner that feels genuinely inviting.
She is so good and hilarious and is by far one of the best professors ever (don't even have the words to describe how much I love this woman.) PLEASE take this class, because you will never forget this professor.
Very, very good instructor. Suzanne really takes the time to get to know her students and help them succeed not only in class but outside of class. Would highly recommend taking her. Most people got A; super easy class!
Even though you've never taken any bio class b/f, if you take advantages of extra credit, you will have no problem with receiving A grade. I was a bio beginner, but passed her class with A. FYI, more than half of students in the same class received A.
Bio is not an easy subject first off. I liked professor Iwanicki but if you want an easy A do not take her class but I can assure that you are going to learn a lot from her.
I definitely enjoyed her class. Although I've never taken biology before, she always encourages me to learn it without being stressed out. She sometimes quits class earlier than expected time. And she gives extra credit several times. Easy to get A!
One of my all-time favorite Professors. She is very crystal-clear and organized in her lectures. She really cares about her students and takes our feedback into consideration. Review the study guides, then you can be ok with passing her class with A. Plus, seize a chance to get extra credit as much as possible.
The most stressful class I have ever taken. Professor Iwanicki is a chill person, but has absolutely no idea what she is doing when it comes to 10B. She starts the course by giving very easy assignments, then out of nowhere gives with a 1000 projects all with little to no instructions. Grades really tough, and inconsistently. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!
Professor Iwanicki is really chill, down to earth, & easy to talk to. She's focuses on the environmental side of Biology. You'll have many group projects(you'll get to know & work with everyone at some point), 3 CORE exams(kind of tricky & time consuming), & 1 Lab practical. She's a hard grader. Grades everything late(hard to know where you stand).
Something must've changed. Seems chill sure, but is merciless when grading & is inconsistent w it. Extra credit THINNED. Overly ambitious w group assignments. Found it hard to improve on future work; only got graded back AFTER the sem was over. Feedback/comm futilely late. In lab for 30min if you're lucky, but who knows where else she was off to.
Avoid her. Does not grade on time. You do not know where you stand in the class.
First, I'd like to point out the past, amazing reviews that were magically written on the same days. That's sketchy. Second, this class seemed simple. However, she's a tough grader, doesn't grade on time which is stressful & leaves no room for improvement, & gives too many projects. Take home exams sound easy- wrong. Hard and time consuming. AVOID.
This class was fun in theory. Professor is very knowledgeable and nice but too ambitious, not well organized, assigns too many last minute assignments, & Super late grader! Grades early/mid semester assignments after finals. Not a hard class but tough grader. Everything is group work. No study guides as someone had mentioned..
Great class! Everything is group work though so be prepared to work with others. Only bad thing is that she doesn't grade everything fast; the only things that are graded are the online assignments that you take and are graded on the spot. Still, this is a very good class but you need to do the work.
This class is quite time consuming and you must stay on top of your work to get an A in the class. Always start the assignments a few weeks prior, since it can be quickly overwhelming. Don't be afraid to ask her what she's looking for in the assignment. Turn in high quality work on time and you'll be fine. Also do all the EC you come across.
Every time I finish reading one of her lengthy assignment descriptions I leave in a rage. The projects are too numerous, detailed, and too much work. She thinks hers is your only class, you have no job, everyone has a car, gas money, and luxury time to chase after animals and insects taking pictures of them. Tough grader despite all the ridic work!
Worst professor I ever had. Not open to valid criticism. Tough grader & most stuff is graded after the final. You're in the dark. If we have to do SO many assignments, she should be expected to grade them. Super low morale in the class. Control freaks, lazy people, high achievers--avoid this class. If you work hard and are OK with B's, you'll be OK
Worse class I have yet taken, extremely tough grader, does not appreciate the time and effort you put into assignments. She's ready to take as much points off of you as possible... DO NOT TAKE!
Why is she teaching? She is absolutely the worst. Instead of learning the fundamentals of Biology (we are biology majors), she makes us do pointless group projects that take forever and never get graded. If I got a C for the course, she deserves an F! for an instructor. Not joking, 90% of the class hated her and her useless projects.
This class comes down to attention to detail, work ethic, and finding a good group to work with. Most of the class is collaborative - so you can use that to your advantage or not. Most of the work revolves around analysis, writing, and critical thinking. With that being said, people who do well put in their share of time and effort.
Ruined every weekend I had because of these pointless assignments. Not to mention the annoying projects/assignments I stressed about only to get no credit for them... very understanding and nice professor but no understanding for students busy schedules. Also grades so harshly for no reason. Only take if youre willing to work hard
Most of the time I felt like I wasn't learning biology rather i was working on stupid projects. Battle of the sexes? Professor didnt grade 30% of the material till after the final and the day before the grade deadline. Terrible. She sucks!
If you have good work ethic and you turn in good quality work, it's not hard to get an A. It helps if you have a good group. There are EC opportunities, so take advantage of that. Start on the heavy assignments early (few weeks prior to due date). Read and follow the rubric prior to starting on assignments.
Stay away from her. Does not reply to e-mails even though she tells you to reach out to her. Never know what your grade is in her class because she waits for the last moment to grade. You have no idea what you have going into finals, STAY AWAY
She is a very caring professor and gives you opportunities to turn work in late, but it is ALOT of work. I had Econ and stats and her work required more time than those together. No tests, just TONS of projects. It was frustrating that she gave more assignments then she could grade and sometimes they would go ungraded for WEEKS.
Too harsh to score. A lot of homework. If you really like to take it please dont consider spring semester at all, its too long to kill your desires to learn.
I hated his cource it was so bad so much homework and reading. Stay away if you need to take Env01 every week there is about 10 assignments due on top of discussions. Also this cource is so badly put together never got a break and also made us work during spring break if i could give her a zero i would. This made me hate this subject even more.
God awful, way too many assignments and hw, takes forever to grade them. And when she does, she nitpicks at everything on them despite dumping endless hw every week. And the tech for many of the assignments doesn't even work correctly and the professor doesn't give any good assistance on the matter either.
She is one of those overambitious teachers who thinks they're being thorough & challenging in a good way, when it realilty, her class in an overcomplicated mess that will involve you trying to finish every assignment, w/o retaining much of the information. Choose someone else unless you're majoring in Environmental Science & love extra work.
I regret taking this class a lot but I have no other choice since she is the only one teaching this subject at PCC. She is an EXTREMELY tough grader who would nitpick everything from your work.
The amount of assignments she gives in 1 day should be borderline illegal. At times, I was VERY overwhelmed/overstimulated in this course. The rubrics itself is very specific to what she wants, yet long & confusing. If you don't do the assignments how SHE wants them done, you will have significant points deducted from your grade. BEWARE!!
The rubrics are confusing yet specific to what she wants. Don't be surprised if you think you've met all the criteria for an assignment only to find you've got a bad grade, with no explanation... Please just save yourself the headache because there will be one in this class. You'll find yourself stressing over the work rather learning from it.
Most of the ratings on here are whiny children. The reality is if you are taking a biology course--especially Honors--you should expect to have to work. Her grading rubrics are an easy guide to knowing what she is expecting and if you meet expectations you will get a good grade. She even allows 7 day grace periods if you are late--no questions!
