Tests were difficult, you can improve your grade via lab, quizzes and papers that are due. A lot of work in this class.
Frustrating because she goes so fast. No office hours in the summer and she's not too good at responding to email so contacting her is about out of the question.
This class was very hard. There was a ton of information to learn, but Mrs. Kalup did a great job of teaching it and I learned a lot. I would suggest taking her class unless you have too much in your schedule. You must study a lot outside of class to do well in A&P 1.
Both of these classes are very time consuming. It helped to use a voice recorder to record the lectures. Otherwise, it would have been hard to write everything. Mrs. Kalup is a very nice person and good teacher.
Very good at explaining hard concepts and giving good notes and study guides.
Had Kalup a few years ago. I thought she was a very good teacher. This was all new to me at the time, and I was able to understand just about every topic she touched on. Her class really helped me later in Respiratory School. I do remember her tests being pretty hard! Minimum book use if you go to class, ask questions, and take good notes!
Tests are very hard. Use a voice recorder for her lectures. She doesn't respond to emails and is very hard to get a hold of.
When she repeatedly reminds you that you nead to "STUDY EVERY DAY".... she meas it! The tests are almost impossible, but quizzes aren't so bad. There are quizzes every week, though. She will explain anything if you ask her, but is NOT good at responding to emails even though she'll tell you to email her! Need to study a LOT to get an 'A'....
This class was a journey through hell for me. She absolutley does not check/respond to emails & get this..I had it ONLINE. Tests were included 3 pages of memorization (& you had to spell everything right) and random things she didn't warn you of. There were errors on the quizzes. I emailed her twice about correcting something and she still didn't.
She is really hard... but, knows her stuff...She Really sucks!!!!!!!
She was hard but I learned alot
She keeps a fast pace. The only thing she said to me was that I should withdraw from the class with an F, but I insisted on finishing. When she knew I got a tutor and wanted to finish this she offered to give me an I and extra time, but failed to do as she offered. Went on vacation. Then when she got back gave me a D. She isn't helpful at all.
Took A&P 1 and 2 in high school and got an A+ in both. Took this class and got a D-. Schedule with somebody else. Mrs Kalup is nice but her teaching methods are from hell. Tests are ridiculous.
Very nice woman. Gives lots of notes and when she says you need to study alot, she means it. Quizzes are all based on the notes, and they are not too bad, but the tests are extremely difficult. She explains concepts very well but still a very hard class!
I def learned alot from kalup. Took her for both a&p 1 and 2. Be ready to take notes and study them! Lots of quizes. Tests weren't too bad. Usually got a B on them...
She really knows how to teach well, and is all around one of the best teachers I ever had. She is really enthusiastic about the material and understands that students have different learning styles. You put forth a sincere effort, you'll get through it. A&PII class takes a lot of time and hard work to pull A's and Bs in.
This class is not impossible. You just need to study. Unfortunately people complain of fast pace but thats all science courses...better get used to it!!! I believe she teaches very well and if you show up and study you'll be fine.
Exactly what I imagined a college instruction should be. It is a difficult subject at times, but if you need more clarification, Mrs K will glady provide it. If you are taking her classes for nursing pre-reqs - LEARN WHAT SHE IS TELLING YOU NOW!!! It is going to carry you through if you learn it the first time around; so much easier if you do!
Mrs Kalup is very approachable and will gladly explain materials in greater detail as needed. She has office hours and can refer you to tutors available. Learn what she has to offer because if you are going further into a healthcare field you will need it. Nail the A&P and the nursing courses are a breeze!
Ms. Kalup was not responsive to email communication (even though that was her preferred method of contact), but was willing to clarify things as needed. Not the best professor, but not the worst by far.
Where do I begin.Very intelligent lady!I did learn from her BUT she doesn't reply to email, doesn't have very much time available after class for students and most important to me she NEVER gets your exams or reports back in a timely manner. At the end of the semester you'll have no idea what your grade due to missing assignments.I say think twice.
hard!
My all time favorite teacher...if she sees you trying she will do anything to help. She once tutored me for 4 hours ,for my a&p lab practicle ,and she wassent even my teacher. It is tough but,it's so much info, and she's trying to prepare us for medicine. Do exactly what she suggests in the begining syllbus and you will get a good grade. How can it be hard when she tells you how to succeed and gives you the tools to do it.she will not give you a grade you have to earn it.
She is tough, but extremely helpful. Best professor I have had yet.
Do not take this course in the summer, unless you find biology interesting and are good at the subject. I failed miserably! Great teacher! Very knowledgeable, however, this is the first and last time I take a summer course...
Ms. Kalup was one of the best professors I have had so far. She was the only online professor I had who would set up chats for the class to talk about material and to help us with questions we might have. Biology is a tough subject sometimes, but Ms. Kalup was a great teacher.
It's me again, from 2 comments below: I took this class again at my school, and got a C... so... guess I'm not so stupid after all. Change your teaching format Kalup!
She was a nice lady, but her classes were almost pointless. She would ramble on about things unrelated to what we were talking about therefore making the DAILY quiz & weekly tests difficult. The study guides she provides rarely match up with the tests. Never responded to any of my e-mails. She needs to rethink her teaching strategies.
Mrs Kalup is amazing. Weekly quizzes keep you studying unti the exam and the study guides have everything you need to know. She actually TEACHES. Take notes, do the study guide, go to class, you'll be fine.
Power trip. Stay away from.
Wonderful teacher. I would take her again for any class. She will clarify anything you don't understand, without being demeaning. I don't know who didn't get email responses from her, but she emails me back within an hour or two, always.
She is the best teacher I ever had. I loved her class and I learned alot. She would take extra time out and help me to understand the material if I needed it. I would highly recommend her as an instructor. She is dedicated and truly cares about all of her students.
TAKEN ONLINE! She always responded to my emails. She made sure to have a practice test for midterm and final. I got an A in high school bio, so it did make this second trip around a littler easier. However, this class is not easy in anyway, (not her fault) it's just a lot of material to cover. She explained it perfectly! 100% recommended.
Truly a remarkable lady. Inspirational and true. If you want to understand the human body, this lady is the one to teach you!
By no means is she easy. BUT, if you do what she says and you study you should have no problem. She is very responsive and will help anyone with anything. very committed to her students passing. She is helping now with my lab class which she isn't teaching. Highly recommend! Really knows her stuff.
Mrs. Kalup is by far the best teacher I have ever had! She takes an emotional investment in her students which makes her very approachable and she will do everything in her power to help you pass (except give you the grade). She also relates what you are learning to real life which keeps you interested! Just STUDY!! Because she is a tough teacher
has pets, need about 3 hours to take her exams. Real attitude. on a power trip. makes the learning process as difficult as possible. does not use book. does not give student time to copy her mess on the blackboard. controlling. prefers male students.
Suzanne is one of the most influential women that has ever taught me. I took her class as a repeat for both AP1 and AP2 because I failed both times with another instructor. She has such a clarity when she speaks and teaches the class, and has no problem helping you out when you need it. Yeah it takes a while to get your scores on quizzes/exams, but
(continued)that's because she teaches literally about 25 classes. She truly proved to me that I can achieve anything I put my mind to. If she is proud of the progress you have made, she will tell you, which always feels good. Very genuine, you can tell she's a mom. Just make sure you take her advice - study for her exams. They are not a cake walk.
screams at the students and her assistants which can be heard the whole way down the hallway outside of her office. if she is angry with you she will tear your exam apart. high drop out rate.
Very un-approachable. Makes a huge mess on the blackboard which is barely decipherable. She makes things so much harder than they need to be. Puts emphasis on memorizing insane things, not on understanding the material. Ignored my emails. Am taking the class again with a different professor and he makes 100 times more sense than her.
I took lab with this teacher and I was impressed with her level of knowledge and efficiency. I had to drop my classes in fall due to personal situations, but I enjoyed this lab. You don't want a teacher who makes things easy teaching this material to you, especially if you are a Health Prof student. She is helpful within reason.
Worst experience with a teacher I've ever had. Her classes more difficult than needed, did not make things clear. If you asked a question she was rude. Focused too much on memorizing long processes than understanding. Never returned back many grades and lab reports. Never informed anyone how they were doing. Did not answer any emails EVER. AWFUL!
I had Susanne for both class and lab for 171 and 172, she is an awesome teacher, very organized and passionate about what she teaches. Her tests are not a breeze, they do require a lot of time to prep and study for them because there is so much information you need to know in more than one way, memorization will not help you out. I would recommend!
A very good teacher who can relate scientific concepts and physiology to everyday life situations. Study much for this content or you will be left behind. The study guides she hands out are good.
She is a demanding professor, but is willing put in the time and effort to make sure you can perform at the level that she requires. She is a supportive and caring professor who really cares about the students in her class. This is a hard course and she will make sure you walk away successful with a very strong knowledge of A&P.
Great professor if you are there to really learn. She has an in depth understanding of the material. Sometimes it seems that she wants to share too much with the students in the time she has allotted. I wish she had more time because she seems to be burdened by it's constraints. Passionate professor, excellent lectures, difficult exams, be prepared
Have not met her personally, but am taking an online class. She is horrible at answering emails. Have only heard back from her once all semester. I found other students have the same problem. She posts assignments too late in the week and she is very unclear on when things are due. She provides no guidance and I would not recommend her for online.
Suzanne is amazing! You can't help but learn in her class. She utilizes everything at her disposal in the classroom so you "get it". But she is not going to give it to you. You have to work for it and use your brain. She is available for questions or tutoring. I wish I had her for Bio 171 too.
Took her Bio 107 class online. Worst experience ever. Doesn't post assignments till Wednesday, but wants them due Friday, yet she wastes no time posting the quizzes. She doesn't post the notes until Wednesday! Doesn't seem to care about online class or helping her students. NEVER responds to emails. Tests are unnecessarily hard, never uses book.
Posts assignments late, doesn't respond to e-mail and is so far the worst online teachercourse I've ever had. Avoid at all costs for online courses.
Not only is this class thee hardest I have ever taken online but I am almost positive she is out to fail ever student in her online class! She does not respond to emails. Her quizzes NEVER match the info she gives or the book. Her midterm was awful! She never gives dates as to when things are due and you have to have a clear schedule to complete it
Taking her now online. She does not respond to emails. I'm thinking she's just not good for online teaching. Her video she made to explain notes, however was excellent so I'm assuming she's a great teacher in person. I would take her again, just not online.
Susanne is the best teacher I have ever had. She is not the teacher that will just give you the answers. She makes you work for it. The tests are tough. If you are having trouble all you have to do is ask for help and she will not hesitate. Pay attention, ask questions and STUDY!! Goodluck!
Loved her classes. Took her for both A&P 1 and 2. Took berg for 1 and had to withdrawal due to poor teaching. Kalup explained the information in a way you could understand. She cares about her students too.
Susanne is a great professor, but A&P 1 and 2 are not easy courses. She does not just throw out answears to you, she makes you work for them in order to help you. Truly one of the best professors if you understand that not everything in life is going to come easy. Exams are hard but you can do well if you study and pay attention Don't skip class.
Took her online and I hated it. Would not respond to emails. Her test are nearly impossible to pass.
I thought this class was going to be pretty informative even though it was online and fairly easy. If your thinking that, think again! She put information on the tests that wasn't in the book or notes and she took forever to grade things and wasn't responsive to students very often. Would not take her again.
Taking this class online was probably my first mistake, but taking it with this professor was probably my second one. None of the students had any idea where she was getting the information from tests from. She made it more like A&P than Human biology, meaning if your going to take this class, just take A&P instead and save the time and frustration
Took this class online. It was horrible!!!!! Didnt post notes when she was supposed to. The exams were to be taken from the notes, they were NOT! Questions I knew I got right, were marked wrong. I brought it to her attention, but nothing was done about it. HORRIBLE ONLINE CLASS, NEVER AGAIN
Amazing professor! The class is hard so if you don't do the work you will not pass. She really loves the subject and will do everything to try and make sure you understand.
If I didn't take Suzanne I wouldn't have passed A&P 1. The class is super a tough as it is, but she has a real passion for it and makes me want to learn more. Heavy lectures, she is very thorough and informative. Loved to use pictures to explain things, which I really like. I missed two classes, and it hurt me, GO TO CLASS. Taking her for A&P 2.
Susanne is an EXCELLENT instructor. She genuinely cares about you and your grade. However, she will make you work for your grade and she does not just give you answers; she makes you think, which is a good thing in the long run. She will bend over backwards to help you. Will be taking for AP2.
I would take this class again. Although this teacher tends not to get grades in on in time, gives too much homework, and the test are impassable to those that are taking A&P the first time.
Susanne genuinely cares about her students. As long as you do your part, she will do whatever it takes to help you. Will be taking her for A&P2
This class requires time put in outside of class. Susanne is probably one of my favorite professors I have had. She genuinely cares if you are learning the material and will do her best to help you. Her exams are hard, but they are what she goes over in class.
She never really cared about the fact that I am a visual learner and that i don't learn that well by reading the book or watching videos that explain the power-points and she also teaches more auditory, she emailed me about the fact that I wasn't doing that well in class but hasn't decided to talk to me after class about that fact yet.
I went into this course thinking it would be a walk in the park being that it was online. BOY WAS I WRONG! Kalup is a very hard professor and makes you think and makes you work for your grade. However, she is a very good professor and she really knows her stuff. Will be taking her for AP I and II
I took this course online so time management was very demanding. Although you have a flexible schedule with online classes, studying is mandatory with this class. It's not a TON of material but it's material that'll take time to comprehend. So time wise, you need a good amount of time put aside for this class each day.
Tedious assignments but easy
Wont answer your question if you have one. She makes you answer your own question instead of guiding you to the answer.
Kalup is a wonderful professor. She makes sure everyone understands the material and is willing to help you outside of class on anything. Her quizzes/exams are tough but if you put the work into the class, you will be fine, and all her tests have bonus questions (on material you are going to learn next). Good Luck!
This class is a whole different ball game than A&P1. What I really liked about this class specifically was that Kalup made it more clinical based meaning she made sure you knew what you were talking about when it came to your major. Took Kalup for AP1 and AP2 and I am going to miss her so much next semester when I start nursing!
One of the worst professors I've ever had online. She would constantly forget to post assignments and quizzes but had strict due dates that were almost impossible to meet. It was a quiz a week, along with a study guide, a bunch of videos, Powerpoints, and a Connect assignment. The midterm and exam were way too difficult and worth 50% of your grade.
Worst class I have ever taken. Never posts assignments on time and has crazy deadline expectations. Never responds to her emails and has an attitude when she does respond. She also did not grade any assignments from the beginning of the semester until the very end so you dont know if you are passing or failing. Save your money, dont take her class
I genuinely like her as a person she is a great teacher but the amount of work she gives makes it actually very hard. She will give test extensions which is nice but its just way too much homework
This is a class that requires your full time and effort if you take it online. A very caring person and will help you if needed. In order for success you need to fully watch all of the videos, study thoroughly, and be prepared for each quiz, assignment, and exam. If you are willing to put the time and effort into this course you will be just fine!
She was one of the best professors I have had. A lot of work and a ton of material but with the effort you can do very well. Always accessible within a day or so for any questions and always extended deadlines if you reach out and explain. Very straightforward with what will be on the exam. Super caring and consistent. Do the work and study!
Very good teacher! Better at helping during office hours rather than email. Grades slow but you can ask and get your grade before it's posted if it's a concern. Lots of grades so if you bomb one it's not a major hit. Focus on good exams, they hold the most weight. Try to keep consistent because past info comes up later. Will take again for A&P 2.
Really good at explaining tough concepts into a way that's easy to understand. Super helpful and patient with questions so don't be afraid to ask. Lots of quizzes but it's extremely helpful to keep up for the exams, so it pays off. Also has a pretty consistent structure so you can get into a good pattern for studying. Really recommend her!!!
summer course, but a $130 book is insane. Multiple quizzes/tests in a week, covering A LOT of material in very little time. Don't take if you're not in a science/ medical field. The class schedule is unorganized, unpredictable, and not very lenient with people's time. Too much work/ material to go over in a short period of time.
I don't think she's a tough grader. But if you decide to take this course, you should organize your time! Because there's bunch of materials to see. But if you focus more on the notes then you will get great grade. It's worth to learn if you are thinking your career in health/medial area.
Anatomy and physiology is a tough subject no matter what. Professor Kalup truly cares about you understanding the material and your ability to utilize this in the real world. Her exams are long but she gives bonus points on every quiz and exam. Fairly straight forward if you pay attention and attend class. Very nice lady.
