All men are ****s (she claims); don't take the class if you aren't a woman.
she was a great professor!! i really enjoyed her class!!! don't listen to what the other ppl had to say about her...she's great!! i'm glad i took her class!
Amazing teacher who takes the time to get to know her students. She is a very understanding woman and admirable teacher

GREAT PROFESSOR!! she was so amazing. after transfering out of AACC i have now chosen to major in English and a large part is due to her. She is an outstanding professor and assigns great readings. She also gives you wide range of topics to write about
One of the few teachers that I had that I feel truly prepared me for my transfer to a four-year university. She encouraged class discussions and expected well written papers. She definitely did not think that all men are s***.
Prof. Spoor came to every class prepared with something original, she gave great readings and held interesting discussions in class. Writing papers is always hard for me and she expects very good papers, but she is gave me all the help I needed
GREAT TEACHER!
loved the class and she is a great teacher!highly recc.
great class, great teacher who is always prepared...unique choices in literature...be prepared to read a lot and participate in class...it will be easy to get a good grade if you simply do the work!
Very easy. Show up for that A. Great for the grade point average! Highly recommended, easy.
i love professor spoor! she was definately my favorite teacher
I was really nevous about taking an honors class but I loved her, loved the books that we read and got so much from the class. If you get a chance to take this class do it, it beats regular english 111
The best teacher ever! Spoor is really enthusiastic and it is easy to love her class. Go to class and READ THE BOOKS WHEN THEY ARE ASSIGNED! She likes to read a well-written paper and it isnt difficult to write one if you attend class and participate. Spoor's class is the class i look forward to the most. If you suck at writing you wont do well
Can't recommend her enough. The class was fun, informative, and eye-opening. Spoor has a great teaching style and a sharp sense of humor and one of the school's classier instructors. PBL class had some intra-group issues but the class itself was well worth it. TAKE A CLASS WITH SPOOR, at the very least.. she's easy on the eyes.
Avoid Prof. Spoor, Here's why; she's nothing more than a chaperone who grades. Gave full credit to students who missed deadlines. Was harsh with students who had views on books other than her own. "I dont know" became a frequent answer to student questions.Asked for honest opinions then refused to listen to student feedback. PRAY for a decent group
I wasn't impressed with her at all. A very mediocre teacher who seemed uninterested at times. Wishy/washy with grades and policies of the class. She didn't follow the guidelines written in the syllabus about student attendance. No punishment for students who missed multiple classes/deadlines. Our class griped about her constantly. Find someone else
Her *&& is so uptight she squeaks when she walks. It's a babysitting class mainly (as the last person noted). And be a feminist when you walk through the door; only liberal opinions are tolerated. If she is what English profs are like I'll switch from English when I transfer.
Asks a lot of you but gives you plenty of time and resources to do it. Totally worth it for those students willing to make an effort and learn. What you get out of a class depends on what you put into it!
I kinda had fun in the class, lots of group work and discussions, very liberal with deadlines, I am going to miss this class. Seems like she cares about the students, I am not sure what the others are talking about maybe they are uptight ****s. Mrs Spoor Is great
Ended up getting more out of class than expected, enjoyed contemporary and challenging teaching styles. Gave grades fairly and was very willing to assist in student development. Plus she has a unique ability to remember EVERYONE'S name after one class. Test her!
feminista police. got sick of the liberal lectures. favors students who agree with her (and your grades will show it if you dont agree with her).
One of the best english teachers I have ever had! She chooses interesting books and gives very interesting lectures. She wants the students to do very well and you can pass her class easily as long as you stay on top of your reading. I loved her class and people should definatly take her class if they get the chance. A worthwhile experience!

Great professor, makes people not interested in reading even enjoy the class. Class is a little tough, but she is very understanding and if u need more time shes willing to give it.
Dr. Spoor is an awesome teacher. She makes English class fun and interesting. She is very helpful and is really cool.
Gorgeous. Intelligent. Funny. Caring. Passionate. Easy as that.
Dr. Spoor is very inspiring and makes learning very interesting. She makes sure to rally everyone together.I never felt stupid in her class.
She is a great teacher. Extremely helpful. Funny and makes the class interesting. Familiar with and explains the material very well. I would highly recommend her.
I really enjoyed Professor Spoor. A lot of papers but mostly cared about opinions. She gives her opinion on everything, so even if you dont have one you can just use hers and get an A.
mrs spoor was okay. she was sometimes irritating but she did have a nice way of teaching. sometimes it was just confusing. i finished with a C when i thought i finsihed with a B sooo..idk
Great Professor. Highly recommend her. She remembers everyone's name, and remembered me a year later when she bumped into me on campus. very helpful also. She met with every student outside of class to check on how they were doing on their papers. Great great great
Prof knows everyone's name the first day and is personable. She wants to know what students think. So it's good to have some thoughts.
Dr. Spoor is an excellent professor who kept the class interesting, relevant, and perfectly paced. Contrary to some of the views here, I found her to be extremely tolerant to all views and genuinely interested in those views. I was one of two men in her Women's Studies class and never felt any animus at all. I loved her class.
Professor Spoor is the best teacher I have had. She is hilarious and very personable, and her classes are interesting. She tends to emphasize gender and racial issues in her classes, though not at all exclusively.
I really enjoyed this class and the way it was taught, lots of group conversations. There was a great deal of reading and writing but it wasn't overwhelming. Would recommend to anyone else!
I personally felt overwhelmed by the amount of work she had given, it's not the worst I've had, but it is a lot. If you're not great in english, I'd be a LITTLE weary of taking her. Like others have said, she is a nice teacher, and I liked her on a personal level, just as a professor, she can be a little intimidating.
Dr. Spoor is a great professor. She is very helpful and holds interesting discussions. You must keep on top of the reading! Her "fish-bowl" discussions may not be anyone's favorite, but they certainly help when it comes to writing your paper. I HIGHLY reccomend Dr. Spoor. I loved English, again!
I took her Images of Women class and it was one of the best classes I have ever had. Spoor is a really enthusiastic and entertaining teacher. Her class is one of those classes that you literally have to try to fail. All tests are take-home, lots of homework and group projects. Everything is really easy and you should get an A or a high B.
Easy class but a lot of work. She is really nice and only had 2 tests: midterm & final. If you dont like to read ALOT it can be rough because you are constantly reading for class. good discussions, do the work and you pass.
The class was fun!
Dr. Spoor is a great teacher! very organized and helpful. different teaching style than ive ever had but it was easy and fun
I LOVE PROFESSOR SPOOR! She is my favorite professor at AACC. She has such a passion to teach, and is beyond organized. She has the best way of teaching and makes everyone interested in the subject material. Loved all of her projects (they were actually interesting) as well as the papers. Definitely recommend this professor!!
This was my first semester in college and I thought she was amazing teacher. Her class was so interesting and made me want to go. It was a little hard but I would def. take another class that she taught.
Took her for my first English course at AACC. She was awesome. Alot of work but very interesting and fun. Read alot of books and about 5 papers. Also gave oral final exam. Work hard but it will pay off. She's so nice too!
Prof. Spoor was a pretty great professor, considering I hate english as a subject. Be sure to attend class, and READ. For the gender learning community, we had a few fish bowl discussions about the texts. I recommend doing the rough drafts to essays because it's an easy 10 points! Overall very helpful and a good professor.
Really enjoyed her class. You can feel her sincerity for teaching which is reinforced by her easy-to-like personable demeanor. Work load is hefty and she sets a very high bar for an A+ on a paper but verbal fishbowl exams are take home and fairly straight forward. She is one professor that maintains a fresh view and open mind in all matter.
I understand that she teaches a Women's Literature class, as well as basic Lit and Comp, but her viewpoints on feminism transcended class boundaries. Overall, the class wasn't difficult, but it would have been more professional of her not to use Lit and Comp as a podium for her personal ideals.
She's very approachable and helpful not like some English professors. Very encouraging and listens well to students.
Dr. Spoor is the best! She picked great books, kept class wayyyy more interesting and engaging than anyone should expect a college class to be. Hers was the most fun lit class I took! There was a bit too much group work for my taste, but even that kept things interesting. Love her!
TAKE HER COURSE!!! The best Professor in English you could get. Read the text's and you will be fine.
I took Mrs. Spoor for images of women. i love her class discussions. she is such a funny person. time flys in her class if you pay attention. really helps you understand readings. easy hw. interesting material. all tests were take-home. she assigns everyone to groups for projects(some). i HIGHLY recommend her :)
Mrs. Spoor is by far the BEST English teacher I have ever had. She makes class so fun and easy that by the time you walk in the class, its already time to leave. If you do not understand the text she will take her time and help you as much as she can. I love this teacher so much I am taking her for ENG 112!
Great teacher. As long as you read the text you will be fine. The midterms and final are oral, and she's gives you notice and practice before hand.
Amazing teacher! Such a lovely lady! She is a great teacher and very helpful. Midterm and final are oral but a lot of homework and reading. Also, a lot of group work and a few presentations. She is very helpful with your papers though. Her class can get really boring but overall I loved her!
I took her for my first english class and she is very good. She is dedicated to her students and checks on your progress. I love how she is always energized to teach her class. She involves everyone and the group works are awesome.
She is really good and knows her stuff. She kept the class excited and her discussions are very engaging. A lot of readings and essay which helps a great deal. Very helpful. Took her also for English 002. Dr. Spoor is a passionate and loves her job. Overall she is awesome.
I took Professor Spoor's images of women class and it was very interesting! Definitely study for the tests and final because they have a lot of material. All projects are done with a group except one, and they are super easy! Pay attention to lecture and take notes and you'll do fine! She's a very lively, funny person and wants you to succeed!
Best English professor ever! She is very passionate about teaching, and is very good at explaining the text in whatever we were reading in class. She's also very funny. I would recommend her to anyone
MOST AMAZING TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. EVERYONE literally EVERYONE participated in class, even the people that usually probably wouldnt. She was so intersting fun and hilarious and you actually learn ALOT while having so much fun. TAKE HER CLASS you wont regret it. You learn alot and have a lot of fun in the process. She makes you feel comfortable!
Very helpful and understanding. While homework is daily it's only three questions and it's fairly easy. You're gonna need to know how to fix run-ons because she will ride you on that but all around she was a great teacher. We even went on a field trip!
AWESOME TEACHER. She gives great feedback on any assignment as well as grading goes shes very easy. Just make sure you do your work, and follow the syllabus other than that your should be fine. Plus make sure you actually read when needed, trust me it'll go a long way.
I really enjoyed Professor Spoor! She made the material fun and turned the lesson over to the class. If you don't like participation, she is not the one for you. She uses many methods of teaching like videos, power points, group work, class discussion and more. She is very silly and always brightened my day. I highly recommend her.
Her grading system was confusing. In group projects other people may be graded higher than you for the same exact thing. She assigns lots and lots of homework.
This is a straightforward class; you do the work exceptionally well A+, you do the work good B, you do the work to get by C or lower. Always willing to help improve a student's writing. Analyze novels and texts to extract points that may correlate with one another. Harsh grader for semi-beginners in my opinion and I normally get straight A's.
Professor Spoor is an all around fabulous teacher. I had her for both English 111, as well as English 112. She is kind of a harsh grader but gives great feedback, as well as plenty of extra credit opportunities. I never did good in English until I had her as a professor. I would HIGHLY recommended her if you want to pass!
Professor Spoor is easily one of the best teachers I've ever had. It feels like she really and truly cares about everyone, both as students and as people in general. She discusses important topics and helps everyone to better understand things, as well as encourages everyone to bensure the best they can be. She is so amazing!
Professor Spoor is AMAZING! She gives so much help and ensures you know exactly why you got graded the way you did. She is super sweet, and she actually cares about you. She is very good at explaining her assignments.
Nice lady, okay teacher. Wrote four papers. Tough grader, grading system didn't always make sense. I'm a good writer and struggled with this class, though I still managed to get a good grade by putting a ton of work into it... Also, she's obviously very left leaning, so just a word of caution, if you lean right you may not enjoy her!
I love Professor Spoor! She is super nice, kind, and very patient. If you're struggling she will go out of her way to help you. She's nice a super tough grader and if you actually go to the writing center you'll be fine. I highly recommend her!
Amazing professor. I am a freshy in college, out of all the professors I have chosen for my 1st year she is the best one. Take her and you won't regret it.
Extremely passionate about civil rights and social justice. These are good on a personal level but not when it pollutes every lesson. I took this class expecting to further the education I had received in Eng111 but instead was bombarded with research about civil rights and social justice. I paid for an English class got a civil rights class.
Not a very good professor. She does not give clear feedback on essays. Shes very vague when giving directions. Most importantly, all she talks about is civil rights. That is the only theme to the class. The doesnt change the theme of the books read in class. Very boring. Extraordinarily liberal.
Tries to make you think and wants to help you improve your writing for all your classes.
Spoor is a great teacher, just a lot of homework. She is caring and love grammar. If you do not like group work, then she is not for you.
really great.
She is very helpful and nice. You can learn a lot from her class. She is a real teacher.
She's nice but not a great teacher. Way too much homework assigned in a week. The first day of class you're put into groups for the class project and get little to no instruction. The class honestly felt like the whole point of it was to just work on and do the project.
Prof Spoor is a genuine, caring teacher. She is a great choice for students just getting back into the swing of English. Her assignments are fairly easy, its just a lot of work! You will have to request specific instruction. She can be very vague, However, wants to see you succeed. Big on group projects! Big on daily journals. You're welcome (:
Prof Spoor is extremely nice. She will help you out if you're having issues and she gives great feed back on essays. She does assign a decent amount of work and it can be hard to keep up when you have other classes but overall the assignments aren't too hard and I feel like she's an easy grader. All in all if you want a good prof, I suggest Spoor.
Ms. Spoor seems like a really nice person but when it comes to grading and assigning work she isn't all that nice. She assigns so many assignments in one week and would not really explain the topics very well, many of the assignments are repetitive and unnecessary. Please do yourself a favor and don't take her class. TRUST ME!
I LOVE her class. There's a lot of papers, but she breaks them down into smaller, easier steps. She gives AMAZING feedback and is so helpful. She is sweet and caring and understands that life sometimes causes some problems. I look forward to her class so much, and she is probably the best English professor I've ever had. I highly recommend her!
I LOVE her class! She was super helpful and was always very quick to answer your questions in class and over email. There is a heavy work load, but if you take your time and do the work it is not too bad at all.
Spoor was such a caring and awesome professor, but that course I would not recommend especially if you are a stem major. Soo much homework and busywork IMO. Lots of group projects too. Many of the quizzes/exams were opened ended with no set rubric for grading. You read a few novels which were decent. lots of discussion posts and replies required.
Heres the thing, I dont recommend taking Prof Spoor. The assignments were great, but her directions were so bad, and her grading was even worse. Everything was super obscure and left the entire class feeling so confused. The 2/5 was just generous. She also had Creative Process Journal assignments, which were so much work and only worth 3 points.
Professor Spoor was one of my favorite teachers. While the class is very paper-heavy and has a big group project, she is a great help if you communicate with her. Honestly, I probably would have gotten an A if I realized sooner how much she was willing to work with me if I just asked.
Teacher was super nice and cared about students, definitely wanted the best for them. I can tell how passionate she is about what she does and gives good feedback and is open-minded. The essays were pretty open-ended and we didn't get a rubric. Great if you like flexibility, not great if you like having a concrete list on expectations.
Professor asked for students ideas in every class, very participatory. Cared a lot about the students and was passionate about the material. Not too hard to get a good grade, just had to pay attention and read most of the time.
Professor Spoor was fantastic! I enjoyed every project, discussion, and activity. Nothing felt like busy work, and added to the foundation of the coursework. Highly recommend!
Professor Spoor is very down to earth and kind towards her students. She is very clear in her syllabus about the expectations for the class and offers many ways for extra credit.
Professor Spoor is a very caring and compassionate teacher. She not only cares that you are learning, but also that you are comfortable doing it. She integrates artistic expression into everything, so be prepared to explore your creative side, be it through drawing or creating yourself or through interpretation of others' works.
Professor Spoor is very nice, very understanding and supportive, she cares about you as a human and as a student, communication with her is key. There is a big group assignment, but she will provide homework and projects that will be built up to the final project. Stay on top of due dates.
I absolutely loved professor Spoor's images of women's class. Hands down, it is my favorite class this semester, and If I were able to id take so many more of her classes. She clearly communicates her expectations, is very accessible outside of class time, and is very understanding of personal matters. I cannot recommend her enough.
Professor Spoor is a great English professor. I had a much better experience with her than I have any other English professor.
She put us into groups on the first class for a semester long group project and we were not given clear instruction. We had creative journals due every class that involved drawing. She gave very unclear feedback on each essay and when I would correct what she told me to for the next essay I would get the same grade because she found more things.
You only write 3 essays over the entirety of the semester but there are 3 assignments due every class. It's super important to stay on top of your work but if something were to come up Professor Spoor is super sweet and understanding and will work with you to figure everything out. She is also a fair grader.
Very very hard to succeed in this class. Textbook is thick and lengthy, and all the quizzes are focused on small details from the textbook that are seemingly unimportant. Lots of projects and participation matters.
Absolutely outstanding professor. Extremely knowledgeable in her subjects and I loved her so much I took her TWICE!!!! I love her so much and if it fit into my degree I would take all of her classes but alas they do not. I highly recommend her as a professor! Extremely understanding and clearly cares about her students. 10/10 I love her.
Outstanding. Includes every student during classroom discussions and makes them aware that their contributions are valued. Knows the text like the back of her hand and is more than willing to help you if you need it. One of the best professors teaching at AACC.
The class has more of a seminar format, but it works extremely well for the material covered. Rarely any lectures, instead focused on readings outside of the class. Professor Spoor was very easy to approach about any issues or questions. Overall, I really enjoyed the class and loved Professor Spoor's teaching style!
So kind and understanding i loved this class. Would definitely take another one of her classes.
She really wants you to get better, so she still demands that you do your work. But she actually makes it pretty easy to get a good grade if you show up and put in effort.
Professor Spoor is awesome. There are readings due before most classes, but most of them are fairly short and reasonable to complete in the time given. There are a few group projects, individual projects, and essays, and three exams that are moderately easy if you complete the readings and go to class.
Prof. Spoor is very sweet and a caring person. She is easy to reach outside of class and gives great feedback that allows you to improve. She tends to care more about personal experiences and how they shape identity, rather academic research and writing. Overall, her curriculum is interesting and engaging, but also not something you can slack off.
Professor Spoor cares about student success. The workload is manageable with effort, and she's understanding if life gets in the way. I found unstuckstudy super helpful for essay prep.
lots of reading (kinda) and coursework, but shes really nice and its also pretty interesting material, the discussions can be fun and i made friends in the class!
