I really enjoy this class, and Dr. Wright. She is very interesting, and well spoken. Her lectures are engaging and fun. She is a stickler for the syllabus! READ IT! I would definitely take her again.
This was a very tough class. She is very into her syllabus 40 pages long. When you ask a question she tells you to "look in the syllabus" which is unorganized. She was not into the class at all the first 3 weeks, it is straight slide shows. 8 people dropped my class after the first exam which 1928 of the people failed. I would not take her again.
This class was absolutely horrid. Do not expect her help outside of the syllabus. Her answer to almost any question is, "Just check the syllabus". After about 3 weeks, 14 of the class dropped it and by the 5th week 12 of the class had dropped and at the wrap up of the semester there were about 10 of us left. I would NOT take this class again.
Not an enjoyable first year class
Tough class just for general psychology.
Psychology was my intended major. Because of this particular class I ended up hating it & even considered changing my major. I ended up dropping the class & so did a handful of people I know personally. I'm taking Psych again next semester but with a different instructor. If you have a question, don't even bother asking her, "It's in the syllabus."
Dr Wright is amazing. Love her. She has already opened my eyes to the world. Take her! You will learn. Can't wait for the rest of the classes.
Dr. Wright was an awesome professor. She is very straightforward on what she expects in her syllabus. She gives study guides for her tests (which include the essay questions in verbatim). Tests are simple, just study and pay attention to her lecture. I would retake her again. Loved her class
I got my moneys worth from Dr. Wright. She is straightforward and easy to understand. Lectures and discussions were awesome! Go to class, use her notes, do the extra credit, and youll do great on her exams. Wonderful class and professor! Would definitely take her again!!
She was a tough teacher. She seemed annoyed when students didn't understand information. She was rude to her students at times just because they asked questions to gain a better understanding of the subject. She points back to the syllabus constantly which, although it is lengthy, can be hard to understand. She didn't seem to care for her students.
Intimidating but one of my best teachers. She made me feel stronger about my love for psychology, as well as opened my eyes up to the entire world. never have i learned so much and been so inspired! she doesn't hold your hand, and expects YOU to come to HER. "There is a difference between a diploma, and an education." She pushes you to dig deep.
She was a tough teacher. Her test were harder and she expected you to read.
She was very tough. She kept me on my toes about assignments, constantly saying to review your syllabus if you even just asked a simple question like "When does class end?" Her writing papers were difficult. If you don't know APA style, get ready to get frustrated. Exams were tricky. Don't suggest taking her for your first yr in college.
Worst professor that works at CSM. She is disrespectful to every student and talks down to everyone. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
One of the best professor here at the College of Southern Maryland. After the class you will feel like you got your money worth. However, you will read almost all of the textbook.
She was always so rude and talked down to her students. If you need to ask a question outside of the syllabus it won't get answered. When she grades it's if she likes you and what topic you write about, if she doesn't like you or the topic good luck... Worst class I've ever taken, I would definitely not take one of her classes again.
I had to drop but will take her in the fall. She is good and I learn alot.
Don't take her if this is your first year. The first exam we had an essay question that required us to have two sources. One from the book and one from online and we could not use either during it. She is disrespectful to her students and points back constantly to the syllabus when a question is asked. I hate her with an undying passion.
When the online course began, Wright posted an announcement that VERY VAGUELY described what was "expected in the course". Due to the ambiguity of the post, students continuously asked questions and were given no response from Wright. When I approached her about the issues, she was incredibly rude. I do not recommend taking this online course.
I enjoyed the challenge that she presented when I had her for PSY 1010. Unfortunately I had to drop her PSY 2050 class due to outside reasons. My only complaint is that she doesn't commit to her office hours.
She is a hard grader. If you ask for help she will say its in the directions/syllabus. Gives a lot of "help" on tests. Like instructor notes and study guides but its a lot to study. She is very judgmental on grading. Take at your own risk!!!
She lectures the whole time. She rarely ever smiles. She is very intimidating. You need the book or you won't pass. If you miss a class you will be behind. Studying is key or you won't pass her test. I will not take her again. I would not take her if you don't study.
I DID EVERYTHING SHE TOLD ME TOO! AND SHE STILL GAVE ME A BAD GRADE. Don't take her man.
Dr. Wright gives really good lectures in the sense that she knows what she's talking about and easily challenges your thought process. She does her best to relate things to the real world and provides resourced to help student learning. The journal assignment is a bit of a doozy but everything else is pretty straightforward.
Absolute worst professor at CSM! Looks down on her students and didn't really seem to care. Took major points off of papers for simple mistakes. Any attempt to get help was meet with "Look in the Syllabus" for everything. If it wasn't for crash course I wouldn't have done well at all. Seriously don't take her!
This is a hard course, so if you are going to take this course there is a high probability of you failing. This teach is the best at teaching, this does not, however, mean that she is the best teach. She is not a tough grader because the vast majority of the test are multiple choice. She is not a very nice teach, but she taught the best.
She is extremely strict with how she grades. Her syllabus is over 30 pages and if you ask a question, she almost always tells you to check the syllabus even if you've already read it and are still unsure. She moves so fast I could barely take notes. I would not recommend anyone to take her class.
She is a very unforgiving teacher. She does not give second chances or accept late work. If you do something wrong on one of the 5 journals she will not allow you the chance to go back and revise it. She stands there and reads off a powerpoint for the entire class time. No chance for social interaction with other students. There are better options.
This teacher is an uncaring teacher, but she was an excellent teacher and gave the student all that was needed to succeed.
She definitely knows what she is doing but she is tough. In order to pass her class, you have to pay attention to the syllabus and follow her instructions clearly. She gives extra credits on her exams. She also tells you what she wants on her journal assignment and she gives good feedback.
Worst class . very disappointing. no empathy. does not allow for outside thinking . only allows use of her approved references which narrows the ability to critically think. her inability to be open minded and her emphasis on APA format and writing detracts from any learning of the topics at hand. Do Not take this prof
She is a tough teacher. Be prepared to have the syllabus the first day of class, there is a syllabus quiz on the first day. Be sure to keep up with reading the textbook or she gets angry. There are 3 exams that are open book but the final exam will make or break your grade. I had a B the entire semester until the final. I wont take her class again
does not help you when you need help.
Overall, I actually enjoyed the class, just not the work that went with it. Wright has a rigorous course. Her class is difficult and she is very strict when it comes to following the rules. She does know what she is talking about and she will speak her mind. She has very high expectations for her students. Her exams are open book which is helpful.
This prof. is the epitome of everything a prof shouldn't be. Not only is she extremely hard to please from your papers but can't stop talking about racism. To the point where everyone in the room in uncomfortable. DON'T TAKE THIS PROF. Got A's on all the exams (cuz her feelings cant get in the way of a multiple choice exam) but got a C in the class
Wright is SMART and KNOWS what she's talking about. The topic of racism is brought up several time throughout the course, if you have "sensitive" ears and don't wanna hear the truth about racism I suggest you go else where and continue to live under a rock. Not everyone was feeling uncomfortable in her class by the way...
I took Psychology with Dr. Wright and it was the worst experience in a class I have had at CSM. She is very hard to please and it's almost impossible to receive good grades on her assignments
overall very unpleasant. She is smart, and gives a lot of feedback. But she does not inspire. She will deflect questions to her syllabus constantly, Leaving students wondering if they should even ask the prof. Anything. And beware, if its not in the syllabus, shell retroactively change it as if it was there the whole time.
Very smart has PhD for a reason lectures are very informative but shes probably the hardest grader for a entry level class Ive ever seen she grades papers harder than 3 of my English teachers also if nobody has read or no one participates shell litterally move on from a subject without any explanation
I take her class now and its really difficult to keep up with the work because we are on a different topic almost every class
Currently taking her shouldve dropped when I had the chance you will do good if you study but shes very intimidating and will make you feel dumb for asking questions, hardest course Ive had by far
I had a group presentation on Thurs. night until 6:40, and my brother's graduation was in Columbia, SC the next Friday, hence a 7+ hour drive. She did not excuse me, or move the presentation date even though I informed her weeks in advance, threatening to fail me after a full semester of work. As you can see, I stayed, arriving in SC at 5am.
Very tough teacher doesnt really care about your questions.
This class is increasingly hard and the amount of work associated is ridiculous for an entry level class. I have been in college for two semesters so far and have not had an entry level class be this ridiculous to the point where if its not her answer, it is the wrong answer. SAVE YOURSELF SOME MONEY AND DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH DR. WRIGHT.
Do not take this class. Ms Wright claims to be an expert in the field. However, there is a big difference in understanding psychology and being able to teach. She is close minded and unreasonable. Not good attributes for a teacher!
She is a horrible unfair teacher.
Honestly, I was wrong about Dr. Wright. In the beginning, I was so scared she came off as too difficult, unreasonable, cold. My first exam I got a D, my first paper I earned a C. Both times that I completed the assignments I was not thinking optimistically. After realizing that I was not going to drop her class, I decided to get my act together and
Look at things more positively. I then realized that Proferssor. Wright had been a blessing in Disguise. She was forcing me to critically think, (something that my previous professors rarely did). She was forcing me to dig deep and show my true intelligence because she knew I had it, it was just a matter of weather or not I knew that I had it.
So to all those contemplating weather or not to take her class. Take It. If you're lazy you won't survive. If you do not like being told the truth, you won't survive. But, I promise you if you manage to put your ego to the side and come ready to learn! You will learn, and she will assist you every step of the way. But, she will not baby you either.
She's very hard in my opinion. This is general psychology, and she teaches at a doctoral or master's degree level. She's also not very helpful. I will not take her again.
If I had not already taken AP Psych in high school, and was ignorant of how amazing psychology is , I would switch my major. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
If I to spend an extra year at CSM and pay out of state tuition just not to take her I would in a heartbeat. Ignorant isnt even a strong enough word to describe her. AVIOD AT ALL COST!!!!!
Be prepared to read! To be able to pass her class you will have to read every word in the text book and on the notes she makes you print out. You must always check your mylearning to figure out when things are you because she doesnt tell you or remind you. Make sure you always have at least one question before you come to class.
Dr. Wright is a difficult professor to have. She is very vocal about her opinions and is not accepting of others. If you remember to bring your textbook and do MindTap, you'll get an A on exams. But, watch out for the group PSA assignment. She is a tough grader and is difficult to impress.
she is something... i would not recommend taking her class unless youre up for a challenge. shes great at lectures however she grades really hard so pay very close attention to what she wants from you & ask questions if youre confused. she comes off harsh but you can tell she means well. An advisor recommended me to not take her class...
Professor Wright is good at lectures but she will try to make the audience participate. If you have questions about an assignment, be specific. She has no cut cards, no phones allowed, and no talking. A few of my classmates were afraid to ask questions b/c she gave off a condescending. But, to handle her class you'll need tough skin.
This professor lets the title Dr go to her head. She is has no cut cards and is very dismissive and unaccepting of other opinions. She comes across as belittling and very rude. When participating in lectures she literally will pick at you until you have nothing left to say. If you take her Do all mind tap and read your book
I would not recommend taking Dr. Wright, on top of her being condescending to students, she's not encouraging or helpful with clarification on assignments. "look at the syllabus" is what you'll get. Writing in APA is required and strictly graded, as well as a group PSA that majority of the class failed at (less than a third of the class stayed).
Will make you think critically ALOT and will make you think shes playing mind tricks on you. Very tough grader. Her lectures are nice, wouldnt say amazing. I regret taking this course. Very stressful. A little more than halfway through this course is when covid-19 started and we moved to fully online which made that very complicated.
i took this professor , when we switch online due to covid she was very vague in her explaining, the class was extremely stressful. there was no open discussion in the course , if you enjoy that you wont get it. take someone else its not worth the time
She is very vague in her directions and when you ask questions to be more specific she just refers you back to the instructions. Discussion boards MUST be in full APA format and she has a very condescending tone when you need help. If I could have dropped this course I would have. She crushes any confidence you have on your work.
She is so heavy on citing and if you get one thing wrong you get an F.
she had no emphathy for the pandemic which made it very hard for me. She also assigned group work at the beginning of the pandemic and my group failed me and I received no compensation for being the only. one to participate.
Please make her your very last option when finding a manageable Psychology class! Throughout this class, she grades everything based on perfection. You WILL receive an easy F for the slightest errors. The work load is quite heavy with making our lives much harder than it already is in a pandemic. Don't expect to be able to make up any missed work.
If you mess up one little thing, she takes tons of points off and overall it was a terrible experience. I took psych in highschool so i had previous experience but she apparently thought otherwise. I did all assignments, she was not flexible nor easy going or transitional as an incoming freshman. 1/5
Dr. Wright has a couple bad reviews on here but she is absolutely the best psych teacher I have ever had. If you actually engage with her during her class and you show some kind of interest things will go very smoothly for you. She is very funny and enthusiastic about psych and honestly I would take her class over and over again. Love her!
I achieved an A in his class, but I still would never want to have her as a professor again. She isn't specific about directions and it took me weeks to understand what she wanted. I wrote a 6 page paper and she gave me a zero because it was submitted as an attachment on the second week of her class. She shows no empathy during the current pandemic
Rude, condescending, I had to do everything on my own. I got an A, but I had to do the PSA Assignment by myself with no one helping and when I told her, she gave me no sympathies. She literally told me "well, you'll have to it by yourself." No sympathy during the current pandemic.
I am a freshman in college and a senior in high school and I did not know a thing about APA. She is very heavy on getting APA right. I thought I was doing it right all along and she failed a few of my discussion boards, even for writing the title. Her directions are also very unclear so make sure to double-check with her. She did not teach either.
She's a hard grader! Period! If you have a fragile ego, you will not survive. Overall, I enjoyed her class.
To start, there is a syllabus quiz-enough said. Unrealistic expectations. Condescending. Misleading instructions but tough grader. Got a D on an assignment I spent hours on with no constructive feedback. She sent an "extra credit" opportunity one day with 1hour for students to respond - at 1pm in the afternoon, of an online class. People have jobs!
Condescending and rude. No sympathy for personal problems - which is ironic in the era of Covid19. Directions were often conflicting or repetitive leading to confusion. But if you ask questions, you get a curt, thoughtless response without any intention to help answer you. She doesn't like to be questioned. Imagine being a patient of hers. Yikes.
Dr. Wright expects you to work hard and come prepared to learn. She will not hold you by the hand. Overall, she is a caring teacher, so don't be afraid to engage. Some of her instructions/feedback are clear, others aren't, so ask questions. She may come off a bit strain but it's not intentional. But know that having tough skin is a MUST.
She was condescending and tough, It is hard to please her she is not highly grateful I would NOT recommend choosing her as a professor she is repetitive and particular. I worked hard on a paper and received a D on the paper because she said it wasnt fully APA and other things. You should NOT choose her if your a procrastinatior
I dont even know where to begin but if you see her name when you register for a psy1010 class scroll right past it, dont even waste your time.
Dr. Wright was awful because of her lack of care towards her students . She would give me an F because I spelled something wrong or because I did not cite one thing correctly. She is really tough and does not respond to emails!
Unrealistic expectations for students. Nearly impossible to get all of the work done thats due in each week unless you stop life and tend to this class. Makes you feel incompetent for not knowing something. Not much help when students are struggling. One upside is that there are many extra credit opportunities (which can also be hard at times).
Dr. Wright is absolutely NOT encouraging. She doesnt show sympathy and even offer to help she is mean. She is also unorganized, we had an exam due over the weekend in her class and she never said anything the WHOLE week.
Professor Wright is not helpful at all and does very little to be helpful to you as a student. She is constantly giving harsh feedback and gives no explaining on how to do better on future assignments. This class is not worth the hassle with her as a professor.
I took professor Wright's PSY1010 class and I would not recommend taking her course ever! She is not helpful whatsoever and if you ask questions she makes you feel stupid for asking them. This course can be less stressful and actually interesting to take without her as a professor.
I wanted to major in psychology until I took this class it was absolutely horrible I along with 5 other peers dropped out of this class after just three classes because of how absolutely horrible this professor is, do not take this course with professor Wright you will end up hating the study of psychology whether you wanted to major in it or not.
Psychology is interesting and you learn some interesting things, It is a good class to take. However, if you plan on taking it, At all cost DO NOT TAKE IT WITH DR. WRIGHT. She makes the class harder than you think it would be. She is not very respectful when answering questions. She is ungrateful and does not show care or sympathy, plus she's rude
I just finished Professor Wrights 7 week course for PSY-1010 she comes off as harsh at first but she truly cares about making you successful. I took the course with no specific meeting times but she made one day a week available via zoom meant for questions I went to all of them which was critical to understand the content of this course.
Dr. Wright is a hard professor, she does not show a lot of sympathy. Her class is definitely NOT an easy A and it is NOT an easy B either. You really have to work for your grade. On top of it all she is condescending when you need help. She is also NOT very nice. If you are already registered for her class please DROP IT.
DO NOT RECCOMMEND! Long story short, I completed all assignments for Module 1 & 2. This professor did not accept my work. The reason? She did not see a SCREENSHOT of an orientation quiz?! Which was completed and proven in the Mylearning portal. I tried to email the professor a screenshot of everything, wouldn't accept, failed all those assignments!
This professor is tough, yes she really is, she makes you feel stupid for asking simply questions. Don’t take Dr. Wright for ANY class that she teaches she. She has no sympathy, she gives negative feedback and she doesn’t help very well
This class was not that difficult, the work was simple, once you understood it. Anytime you ask questions she makes you feel stupid for asking. She was mad right from the beging and we hadnt even started the class. From my expierence the cource was fun but taking it with Suzette wright was not worth it.
In the online course, there is a lot of homework. The Professor's expectations are laid out VERY clearly. If you take feedback well, put in a lot of effort, and pay attention very clearly, you will do just fine. Professor Wright grades VERY hard, but if you use all of your resources and follow instructions and feedback, you'll improve and succeed.
Passionate about her profession but I will never take a class with her again
She didn't doesn't approve or not approve of our sources for our paper until the day the assignment was due so if you wanted to change it you technically could but you'd have the rest of the day to do it which is personally not enough time in my opinion
Dr. Wright was a meticulous professor. I took her 3 hour, 7 week General Psych class and enjoyed it.She reviewed her notes with us in class and answered any questions we had. She was a bit abrupt and her attitude can be interpreted as rude or disrespectful, but I think she was just trying to push us further. She bought us pizza the last week.
She is very harsh and the only plus is extra credit
She comes off as harsh and demanding. She is very textbook/homework-heavy. Very passionate about her profession which is something I admire but I would not take her again. Do not take her if you are not ready to prove to her you know your stuff with evidence.(she does have a few extra credit assignments which helps in the end, please do them)
I took the in person class twice a week with Dr.Wright a harder teacher than others yes. But she is one of those teacher that you hate when you are in it but when you are out you're grateful to be pushed so hard. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ALL EXTRA CREDIT it helps your grade more than you think. As long as you try your BEST you will be fine and will pass.
I dropped her class and switched within the first week. You can't be proactive, if the module starts from the 21st -26th and you finish before the 20th you get a 0. You have to be very specific when writing in the subject line to email her. Her answers are textbook meaning she tells you the same thing from the directions instead of explaining.
Ridiculously difficult. Grading system is garbage. You receive “F” like a free sample at Sams over pettiness. Instructions hard to understand. Feedback on assignments is never helpful. Workload is very intense. There is not enough time in the week to do ALL she asks. Goodness forbid you have any other classes at the same time. Don't kill your GPA.
Instructions were hard to understand and if you email her asking questions, she copies and pastes the instructions. Incorrectly format your email to her, she will not respond(same for turning in extra credit)Dr. Wright is in no way forgiving, and the workload is too much for anyone with any real responsibilities. This class made me want to drop out
Her instructions hardly ever made sense and she acts like it is her job to put you down or make you feel stupid if you don't understand her instruction. Just don't take her class if you want to be mentally and emotionally well.
I had a really easy time in her class. At first I didn't do great on writing but honestly the feedback she gave really good feedback, it was clear to see where I was needing improvement. People complain that it's a lot of reading but psychology is a dense topic and there's just a lot to understand.
Although in currently in the class, I would not say there is a definitive definition in how I feel for the whole class, but what I will say is that first impression matter! Dr.Suzette is one of the most influential professors/Dr. in my Life! I think that it's because I aspire to be in a similar position to where she is! She is a wonderful profesor!
She was a very nice lady- gave us pizza on our last day. Sometimes I dreaded going to her class because I was in there for three hours being told to change my final essay for the 15th time. Ended up getting an A on the essay and in the class, but it took all of my effort. Wouldn't take again but she was nice and well versed in psychology.
By far the worst class I have ever taken In my life. Tough grader. Degrading towards students. Please do not take any of her classes. For your own mental health and sanity.
