Refuses to use Canvas so turning in assignments is overcomplicated. Assigns too much reading but you don't need to do any of it. Terrible test design. Too few questions and the questions are about random trivia not important concepts. Even open note quizzes had near impossible questions because he asks such random things.

Took this class online and it was fairly easy. I didnt use the book much as he just posts the lectures online. The quizzes seemed more like trivia questions rather than something I could really learn from. He was very rude in email responses. I asked a simple question and he typed out a long email basically roasting me. Wouldnt recommend him.

Dr. Dmitriev is a walking encyclopedia. He's extremely knowledgeable and demands the best from his students. If you don't like reading, I would recommend looking into other courses, as he's assigned more reading than all my other classes combined this semester. That being said, I feel that I've grown a lot as a student, and would recommend him.

Dr. Dmitriev is smart and funny, but won't hesitate to call someone out if something's wrong. Lots of reading and notes but very little other work. I took it during Covid so lectures were posted on Canvas, so it was easy to catch up if I missed class. I speak from experience, DON'T FORGET TO TAKE THE QUIZZES!! There are only 6 grades in the class!

Get ready to read not only a textbook but 5 other novels as well. 1 novel will be a 4-page review paper and the others are only discussion. The tests are easy if you go to lectures and take notes. Prof. is a bit snooty and will make you feel dumb because you asked, but he grades easily. The class isn't the worst but it is boring as he is monotoned.

Dr. Dmitriev was an alright professor. His class is super easy if you read the book or go to lectures. However we were only graded on the 4 tests, 1 paper, and 1 final exam in the course, so if you do poorly on one, it's a struggle to get your grade back up. Dr. Dmitriev also wasn't super nice when it came to my disability accommodations.

He has a very distinct accent which by itself isn't an issue. However that with the fact he speaks very quietly and rather fast doesn't help. Didn't like his attitude and overall way that he carried himself as he was kind of pretentious. Did better on quizzes once I stopped reading and listened to trivia. Also really stubborn with canvas.

Is obviously very knowledgeable in the topics but doesn't really understand that we students are not. I went the whole semester without talking to him once, but I didn't really need to as everything syllabus wise was very clear. Graded on just a few quizzes, the final, and one book review paper, which you need to dedicate a fair amount of time on.

He isn't bad. He talks the entire time during lectures, overall but he's chill. The class consists of 4 quizzes, a paper, and a final. Even though that's all you do, still go to class because he does give useful information for things like the paper, that he may not have included in his announcements. Class is slightly boring but it is very easy.

Your whole grade is based off of 4 quizzes, the final and final paper. He talks the entire lecture, but it is easy. He teaches A LOT of information but the quizzes, you can find and study the answers on quizlet. Go to class though because he gives you useful information for the paper that he does not include in the announcements/guidelines

Tip: Do not rent both books as we only needed one. He is chill, he just talks the whole time you are in class. You are graded on 4 quizzes (literally just look them up on the Internet and you will find the quizlets with the answers), a final paper (where you will use one of the textbooks, and a final exam. It is easy, just do the work.

The quizzes however, you can look up HIST150 Quizlet, you should find some that will match his quizzes. The final is the quiz questions and a few extra questions.

The professor isn't lecture heavy, but lecture-based. Discussions are before every quiz, but he gives 1-2 300+ page texts that are expected to be read and understood before the presentation. There were only 4 quizzes, a large paper, and a final at the end of the course. Didn't enjoy his class, but very punctual with emails.

This class made me so bored I wanted to rip my hair out. He is very knowledgeable but it seems he doesn't teach but merely spews content at students. He has said some problematic things but is tenured so he doesn't really care. He does not take attendance and a lot of people skip because of this, I doubt he even knows any of our names.

Dr. Dmitriev has a low rating on this website, and it made me nervous at first. After taking his class, I found that it was unjustified. His class was very heavy on lectures, but he was both entertaining and engaging. His quizzes and tests were super easy if you went to class. I would take his class again in a heartbeat.
