Very hard to understand. Moves at an incredible speed, you arent able to comprehend what she said let alone follow instructions. Expects beginner students to know as much as she does, which isnt right.
I have learned alot from her classes. Her classes move slow and shes willing to an questions. As long as you come to class and spend some time on the projects you'll do good.If you you don't know much about computers you should start with M20.
If you go to class, you shouldn't have a problem figuring out what to do. You must be on the ball with your projects, and you need to know how to use a mac because it's done on macs. It's a challenging class, but if you are willing to work you will learn.
Great teacher!
Good teacher, does move kind of fast for beginners. If you have experience it shouldn't be that bad. I learned more from the other students in the class than from her though. Over all it is a very good learning experience.
I enjoy everything in her classes: teamwork, challenge, l and that she cares for every student. My favorite teacher.
she's easy if you do the work instead of play video games on the computers...
People who say they don't like her probably didn't take the time to make sure they understood the assignments or they didn't ask for help. She is a very good teacher. No question. I am going to take web design with her next year. One warning...she does go fast if you are slow with computers, but if you understand the basics you will be fine.
Very helpful and very industry knowledgeable. If there's one class you have to take, take it with this professor. She seems hard, but she's very understanding and very fair.
I enjoy Svetlana's classes very much. She taught me stuff I thought I could never learn. In seven months I learned so much.
I recommend her to everyone. I took ALL of her classes and absolutely LOVE them.
I LOVE her class. She is a terrific teacher, and presents great projects for us.
I LOVE her class. She is a terrific teacher, and presents great projects for us.
Easy, fun assignments. Good knowledge. helpful. But usually showed up to class late. If you miss a class its usually kind of hard to catch up.
Don't know why she bothers teaching, Its hard to understand her and her clarification on each assignment..
very cool.....learned photoshop, illustrator, dreamweaver and flash in one class
Good teacher, and knowledgable on the subject; just doesn't have a great command of the english language, so people say that she is unclear. Class was somewhat enjoyable, I recommend her if you can hang with teachers that others can't hang with (i.e. put some effort forth to understand directions, and DO the assignments.) She gets a B-
this has been the best class of my time at MC.
You will learn more from this professor from any other. Just don't be late or skip class. She will help you choose your path and your major. If you care about graphics and multimedia she will love you.
AWSOME PROFESSOR
she makes you think about things, and she has an extensive knowledge of contemporary designers that she will use as reference for her assignments.
She is very helpful, knows her stuff. Try not to miss more than 5 days of class. Some of the projects were kind of strange, overall a good class.
Svetlana's class can be a little difficult since she isn't always clear about when projects are due. However if you follow her instructions for class assignments exactly you'll get a descent grade.
she definitely knows what she's talking about. Shes smart, caring, disciplined and one of the teachers I won't forget. I made my best projects in her class.
fun, knowledgeable
not bad class at all
Fun and easy class. Funny and helpful instructor.
Great teacher. My first online class, but I felt like I was in the classroom. She encourages (and gets) a lot of class participation. She forces you to think what makes a good design and how to know if you have one.
I am a Graphic Design major and have much experience in the field prior to the class and was very aware that this is a beginning class. There is no hands on work, mainly just reading. She is extremely vague about assignments and gets upset when people dont get it. Overall, this class made me less enthusiastic about graphic arts...
Great class, eye opening and interesting. Highly recommended.
If you are a dedicated student, you will learn more than from any other teacher...
IGETC class. Deep. Makes you think (too hard)
Because of this class I have switched my major to graphics.
This class is hard to follow and I don't feel as though I walked away learning anything from her class other than how to stress. She is unclear about due dates and be prepared to take her ENTIRE online class and listen to her lecture for 3 hours a week. My advice, take the online class, it'll be much less confusing.
Awesome teacher. She's very nice and helpful. Important to show up. Will give extra credit. I had a blast in this class and learned a lot. TAKE HER!
I learned a lot in this class by following the lectures and the assignments.
She is extremely unhelpful, and has a short temper. Her class (intro to digital media) is extremely unorganized and crammed. She assigns way too may projects at once, which stack up over time, and she expects you to have all the programs at home(Photoshop, flash ect.) She also expects you to spend hours in the lab completing assignments- AVOID HER
I have mixed feelings about this woman. She is extremely knowledgeable, I'll say that. I walked away with a good understanding of industry standards and techniques. On the other hand, she can be quite abrasive, doesn't honestly care whether you pass or fail, can be rather helpful when she's in the mood, and rather unhelpful when she's not.
She is a really good teacher because she doesn't give you the answer straight away. She wants her students to learn so she has them search for answers. She helps, but in a way that you are still learning and the design is still your design
Svetlana is the most thorough teacher I have had at MC. She can come off as harsh to some students, but that's because she cares, and you are disrespecting her 9by not showing to class, not doing your homework or not paying attention). She makes herself available whenever you ask for help.
Fantastic teacher. She gives so many tips and techniques in her design class and gives a lot of freedom to do the designs you really want to do.
Grade broken down: 30% attendance 40% tests 30% projects. The class is focused on discussion modules she writes, no textbook required. Working with Illustrator sucked and she wasn't too accessible for help, but she graded very leniently and offered extra credit! Lots of cool group discussion. Great class, great teacher!
I TOOK SEVERAL OF THE CLASSES SVETLANA OFFERED OVER THE YEARS. SHE IS AN EXCELLENT TEACHER WITH A FLEXIBLE MIND. SHE HELPED ME TRANSFER TO CAL POLY. HER WORK IS DEFINITELY WORTH CHECKING OUT.
As a person shes really nice but as a teacher shes all over the place. When going over the homework it seems that shes looking for a specific answer and isn't happy with what she hears unless it's along her line of thinking. As a teacher she can be helpful and if you can catch her she will sit down with you and help you.
Took her for GR M10 and M27. Great! Very knowledgeable. Very helpful. A little tough on you but it's because she wants you to succeed. Don't miss a class.
This class would be easier if not for this teacher. She follows the textbook to the letter, and she only gave us a couple of assignments outside of the textbook. That being said, you can pass the class just by following the textbook, although the final Flash animation can be pretty difficult because the Flash section is limited. Not recommended.
Great teacher. Knowledgeable, fun, helpful, always pushing you to do your best. Critiques are tough yet she comes up with jokes to lighten the mood.
fair teacher, fair grader. very fast pace class. but she is willing to help if you ask her.
GREAT TEACHER. VERY HELPFUL. WALKING WIKIPEDIA.
This was a good class, I learned CS5 and enjoued it very much.
Super easy, loved her!
In the beginning I thought it would be an okay class but I was so wrong. She is the most un-organzied teacher I have ever had. She is not specific, and changes assignments without telling anyone. If you don't understand something she looks at you like you're stupid. I thought I would learn something.. I didn't. Avoid if possible.
Very interesting class. Very knowledgeable and entertaining teacher. All you need to do is read the modules, answer 5 questions each week and participate in the class discussions. There are two open book quizzes. Easy and fun A.
She is an awesome teacher. She really knows the world of design and she's extremely intelligent. She cares about her students and will give you extra help if you just ask. Go to every class and you won't miss anything
As a full time student I found this class to be the most time consuming. Took over 4 hours to respond to her weekly discussions & 5 responses that are required. Tough grader & not helpful. Her responses are snarky and she leaves you feeling dumb. I lost intrest in graphic design after the class was made ten times harder then it needed to be.
She is always willing to meet for clarification and help, and truly understand your problem and assist you whether you need a doctor,a design tutor, a writing tutor or career planning help. She is one of those rare professors that can change your life.
She is really passionate about her job and that is very clear. She can be all over the place sometimes but in the end she'll tell you exactly what she wants. Really nice lady.
If you know how to use the basics of Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash then this class is a waste of time. She forgets to announce HW then marks you down when you don't show up with it. She also tells you to be more "specific" with your words even though your explanation is clear and jam-packed with description. She will help you but it's not great
Took the class not thinking it was going to be very hard, it surprised me that it was. The class has less then 115 points in it all together, its two quizzes - midterm & final. You need to participate in the weekly lectures, and reply to her comments. If you are unclear about anything see her in her office hours, or email her.
DON'T take this class unless you're familiar with PhotoshopIllustrator. Despite no prerequisite required, she expects you to know what you're doing without explanation or guidance. Lots of HW! Isn't clear on what she expects out of assignments (especially the details) and is an extremely difficult grader. I'm a straight A student and received a C.
Not an easy class, people complaining were probably lazy and didnt do the assignments. Overall class was 100 points? She gave us an extra credit project of 30 points, 4 people did it, and those 4 people got an A. Everyone in the class had the opportunity, just didn't put in the effort. Had to work for the A
Svetlana is one of my favorite professors at Moorpark College. She truly cares about the success of her students and she always makes it a point to tell us about internship and job opportunities and design contests. She's really enthusiastic about the material and you can use a lot of her assignments for your portfolio.
At first this course was very fun, I learned a lot. Weeks into the course, I noticed I did not get the grades I was expecting. This course requires to "critique" fellow students work as "participation". By "critiquing", the teacher expects us to chat continuously on each other's work as if this is Instant Messenger. I want to learn, not chat.
She is literally the worst teacher I've ever had!! Her assignments have absolutely 0 grading criteria & grades are subjective! You want to get an A, good luck! She is constantly degrading student work! She refuses to cooperate with students and will decrease your grades by 33% just for not having a picture that is not necessary to answer a prompt!!
I am **terrible** with computers so this class was very hard for me. Luckily her expectations are very low! As long as you do the assignment, it doesnt have to be amazing. I earned a B and my final grade was a 99 after I turned in my extra credit. If you try, youll do fine! But if you dont participate youll suffer. She loves students who try!
Svetlana's classes are hard but once you get the hang of the software you should be okay. She's quick to email back generally (1-2 days) so use the email more than the discussion page for any help you need. Your classmates also can help out.
Took her 4-week online summer course, and I had to work for my A. Post discussion posts early as she will comment on them and you can reply to her questions before she grades the assignment to earn a better score. Use a lot of photos in discussion posts, and check the discussion board to reply to students who comment. One midterm and one final.
If you want an A all you have to do is call her out in the beginning of class, and she'll leave you alone. Students teach better than her
Totally insatiable please avoid!!!! I'm a full time student with 16 units and took this class to fill my elective requirements. I was at a 55% even though I would spend hours on her homework. Her assignments are due @ 6AM and no matter what or how much effort I put in to her discussions she has never given me a grade higher than a C.
She assigns a lot of homework and will more than likely make you redo each assignment and even then she will still give you a C or lower. She will force you into doing more work by giving you zeros on your grades until you repeatedly send it to her and then give you C's or less. Worst part is a lot of her classes are mandatory for certain degrees.
Do not take her. The amount of work that she gives for a beginning design class is ridiculous. She also expects your work to be flawless and doesnt accommodate students needs. Seriously, avoid.
I decided to get into graphic design after taking her Design and Society class. She helped me understand that design is everything. She makes you work for your grade, but she gives great feedback. She encourages her students to lead discussions and to present their own opinions. She is a great mentor, always there for you.
This was my first time taking a month long class and while the material was a lot to learn in such a short time, I am very proud I was able to raise to the challenge. Svetlana is a great teacher. I enjoyed going through this journey with her and the other students. I am fascinated by all the material Svetlana included In this class.
I had a horrible experience taking this class. She never responded to a single one of my emails so I had to drop the class. VERY hard grader and tons of homework. Would not recommend.
Svetlana is by far the best teacher in the design Dept. If you do your work with passion and are interested in design she will go out of her way to help you. if you have no drive and skip work you will fall behind. She is truly an incredible resource for young designers.
I've taken four classes with Prof Kasalovic. I learned how to design and how to use the entire Adobe CC. She is always available for extra help if you ask for it. Really knowledgeable, very knowledgeable, and an amazing mentor.
I took the class during the COVID 2020 summer, so the online class was very easy. As long as you respond to other students discussions and engage in the class (check it like 4 times a week), you are all good. Easy assignment. Very fun and interesting if you like design.
I took her Introduction to Digital Media class. For an intro class, it was extremely difficult. I asked for help multiple times and she'd reply with "you have a few days until the assignment is due, you'll figure it out." She was no help at all. This class was way too stressful.
WORST class I have ever taken! If you want to learn anything about graphic design, choose someone else. I took her class to see if I would be interested in the subject and she made it worse than I could have imagined. She will criticize you in front of the entire class and make you never want to show up again. DO NOT TAKE HER!
Professor does not really explain anything regarding each assignment. She just kind of expects you to know what to do, even when its the intro class. She is a very tough and specific grader. She does allow you to redo assignments to gain points where missed, so that is good. This is pretty much a do-it-yourself course.
Her classes make you a better designer. You have to be ready to refine you work. I made so much progress following her instructions and critiques. Great teacher.
She is a terrible teacher. When asking her questions, she will avoid giving you an answer and will only waste your time. Whether its in zoom, in person, or email, if she asks you if you read the material, say yes always. If not, she will refuse to give you an answer and will try to hamulate you or make you as uncomfortable as possible in class/zoom
Literally all my classes have been with Professor Svetlana since I started Graphic Design. She is tough but for good reason, she really wants to bring out the true potential in students & she is because it prepares us for the real design world. If you're used to things sugar coated for you, this isn't the professor for you. Find someone easier.
This is a great class if you want to develop a design portfolio, but be aware that you will be challenged to expand your current skill level and refine your projects! Projects are very interesting. Take this class if you are a design major and if you already took GR M30. I left this class with some suprisingly good design work.
Typography course she looking for abstract work ONLY, but did give chances to re-do the projects, does teach helpful skills but the videos shared were hard to follow and took a while to understanding. Also the projects rubric were bit hard to understand do attend the zooms if your confused they were helpful at times.
