you dont need to buy $140 book cause she doesnt require you to buy it. i thought that im gonna fail the course or get a C or something but i passed with a B. i think if you know how to write your name propertly, you can get a B at least.
soooooooooooo easy.. 4 exams.. gives study guide.. exams are the same as the study guide.. lots of extra credit (don't need to do it because her exams are really easy) she puts her notes on Blackboard prior to class.. her labs are really easy.. she does the lab for you! take her if you want a A+
Just take her class!!! I wish I could take her class again!
the best teacher @ NOVA!!!!! just take her, you wont regret it. I hate all science, but she made it so easy and her teaching is so clear and straight forward, thats what i loved about her! there is no excuse for not being able to get an "A" in her class.
Drop her!!!! I got a C even I studied for the whole weekend when i was taking her in the spring. Although her notes and study guide is easy, her exams are difficult. If you wanna get an A, dun take her, I was an A student b4 taking her class.
her exams are difficult!! I'm gonna go for Jill
Oh my goodness~!!!She is the one that I have looked for long time..I am not a science person. But,since Bio 101 was under requirement,I had to take it..But,she is so nice and explain easy way to understand!!!!!!!!!! I got "A"!!!! Just take her~!!
Professor Seeke is the best!!!! she is so nice and easy and willing to help, just take her!!!! I took BIO 101 with her as well and have been recommending her to everyone I know ever since! I'm not a BIO major but she made the class interesting and fun. Quizzes and exams are EASY!!! she provides excellent notes, study guides, and powerpoints.
She is reallly nice and helpfull...available for helping and replying ur emails a.s.a.p/ no need for book...she uses slides in her class that is really helpfull for visual learning studemnts,..there are some extra credits in the class...final was so easy...lab was boring though...totally she is fair and a nice teacher...recomended
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!! ENOUGH SAID. :)
Bio major, wow she made us work hard for our grades... Although I appreciate because it will help me in the future. No textbook needed google and slides are sufficient.Be prepared to study hard!
Don't take her for BIO 102 she is really bad!! I got an A but she is not good!!
10 lab quizzes, 3 exams, and 1 Final. She provides you with study guides for both the quizzes and the exams, and teaches really well. As long as you don't bomb the lab quizzes you will make good progress throughout the course.
10 lab quizzes, 3 exams, and 1 Final. Provides study guides for all these and teaches really well :)
AMAZING! Provides perfect study guides that help you prepare for the test. No textbook use. Labs are interesting and provides mini study guides for lab quizzes. Also, provides really good notes that help you understand the content.
Spoon feeds you the info needed to pass the class. If you take the time to completely fill out the study guides she provides before each quiz or exam you will do well! Lecture notes are extremely useful! Hardest part of her class were the lab quizzes - which tell yous alot. Very easy class - you just have to put some time into it.
she is very decent and polite.Microbiology is not an easy class but with her it is piece of cake.we never use the book coz it is not organized so we depend mostly on her powerpoints and taking notes .the labs are easy with her.In general i will never end if i would talk about her just take her and you will get easy B if not A
Great teachers. Power point are verys useful and she gives out a study guide for each exam - complete it and you will get a good grade. There are class activities and quizzes so go to class to get the easy points. Labs are stupid easy - just have to show up to get the points. Hardest part of this class were the lab quizzes - that tells you a lot!
Took all my requires bio classes with seeke. BEST TEACHER EVER. Thank god for her, if it wasn't for her I probably would've never passed bio just because all the other professors are HORRIBLE!!! ESP. The bio professor with a bald head who always wears a hat. Hahha. Seeke is very understanding, thorough, and knows the material and how to teach. She understands that not everyone in class is a bio major and works with you to help you pass. LOVE HER
Professor seeke put interest toward teaching her students. she was extremely nice, and willing to go over material if you didn't understand the topic. your grade is mainly based on test. they are straightforward and easy. Seeke so far is my favorite professor.
SHE IS SIMPLY THE BEST
Mrs. Seeke is an incredible professor. She is one of the best teachers at nova. very clear and sweet. hands out study guides for every test and follows it very throughly. if you study, you should def. do well. uses blackboard to post study guides, notes, and powerpoint presentations. her pp's are very easy to,learn fromand concise. easy lab grader
She is the best teacher. come to the class. She gives study guides which are very helpful. No book needed. Good grader. I will highly recommend her if you want to learn and enjoy bio :))
She is one of the best students at NOVA. I hated science and because of her class considered majoring in BIO--because she's that awesome of a teacher. Gives study guides. There are 4 tests plus a final and 5 lab quizzes. Group work, occasional lecture quizzes too. Don't need the book! Study everything of her slides and you'll get an A. I did. :)
You get out what you put in. Go to class. Listen in lecture (not everything is in her PPTs, but will be on exam), DO STUDY GUIDES and review Q's in the back of Chs. Be proactive- if you don't understand, ask. She'll explain. Overall great class and great prof; tough, but fair.
By far the best biology teacher I have ever had. She makes the course interesting. I learned so much! If you do the work that she assigns and pay attention in class getting an "A" grade should not be hard. I got an A and I never once cracked open the text book. She is simply amazing. I would definitely take her again.
She's "alright". Her style of speech lulls my brain but I managed a solid grade thus far. Lecture moves quickly. A LOT is covered. Self-study is a must in this class. BIO takes effort. No textbook use but good to have for self-study. Not a bad teacher, not spectacular. She does put effort in. Her teaching style/my learning style just aren't buds
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE!I had all A's until her class & they were A's in hard classes like O-CHEM. At the end there were 4 students that I know who were only 1 points shy of the next level grade and she won't budge. She will actually say it is normal for most of the class to fail her 1st exam. Makes class harder than it needs to be by not posting PP.
Since this was an online class, I don't know how she is in the classroom. She may be a great professor in person but she's TERRIBLE as on online professor. She responded to MAYBE 1 out of every 3 emails I sent her. At NOVA there's a group website for all the BIO 141 classes so I can't judge her on the website or class format. DON'T take her online.
omg worse experience at nova. my grade was 89.90 and she didnt gave me A. i attanded in every class and was did all the hw. she is unbeliveble .plz dont take her. no extra credit and she just talk too much and you have to study by yourself. you have to read the book and the lab is so difficult and boring
wore prof ever. omg . dont take her. my grade was 89.0 and she gave me B. no extra credit. difficult exams. and final exam is so hard. i was A untill final exam. she ruined my GPA. worse teacher ever with havey indian accent.
not recommended at all. i studied hard and the to be honest all the test was so hard. she gave you alot of hw and ever lab you have to quiz and she makes you to read all the chapter for lab quiz and the quiz is really hard. i got C even thogh my garde was 79.55. she didnt give me B. she is very strict.
Do not take. She refused to post her lecture notes prior to class, this put me behind constantly. She was concerned students would not pay attention in class. If so, let them fail but don't penalize those who want to prepare for class. I earned an A but it took much more effort than it should have and few people did well.

Avoid this professor. She was concerned students would not pay attention in class so she didn't post her powerpoint notes before the lecture. If so, why penalize those who want to prepare for class. I earned an A but it took much more effort than it should have and few people did well. I would not take her again.
Very good teacher. Helpful and stayed after class if you needed extra help. You must work hard but that's true for all science classes.
ELI course - assignments via a dept. web site; lecture is the study guide/texts. Prof's role is to facilitate the section's discussion board assignments, answer ?s, grade tests. At times Prof. Seeke was slow to respond to posts/emails but ultimately answered. Demonstrated flexibility when students had life moments and needed to reschedule exams.
She is very messy. I would not recommend you taking her class. She's is not a very good instructor.
DONT TAKE HER CLASS, she doesnt organize anything well. she asks questions very specifically and only accepts exact answers she want, so a similar answer is wrong. her study guides are not organized well. she is messy and skipping is okay dont worry about EXTRA CREDIT BECAUSE THERE IS NON !!!!!!!!!!
Prof Seeke is very messy, confusing, mumbles and speaks very fast with her words silencing out toward the end of her sentences. Her Study guides are sometimes "non logical", off topic, extremely late posting all study materials and grades. Never felt she genuinely cared and is only teaching at NVCC for her own living and money. DONT TAKE.
Worse teacher ever!!!!!
Worse professor Ever!!!!Don't take her for BIO 101 she is really bad!! I got an B but she is not good!!.Not extra credit and not study guide.
Worse teacher ever!!!!
She sounds pretty nice because I've had her before. But she's pretty decent and she doesn't respond to emails when students ask. Look we all have busy lives we're not perfect human beings. But I would suggest is to respect her standards, morale, and be okay with it. She may sounds she has a thick indian accent but she is clear
If you do not do well in her class, it's probably your fault. She is extremely clear in her lectures and very knowledgeable for the subject of Microbiology. She will only test you on the study guides that will be given prior to all examinations.
She is a great instructor and she helps you understand the material.
Willing to work with students. Online labs were fairly easy and simple.
Great professor. Let's you know what she expects of you. Lots of extra credit offered.
I tried this online and dropped it to avoid failing it. I would ask her questions and she would refer me to the book, that I didn't understand in the first place - so that's why i asked you! I would not take her class, she didn't care at all and I didn't understand her lectures. Biology is way too difficult to understand from reading a book alone.
Study guides & review questions from the book seriously helped me do really well on the exams. She is very thorough in her explanations. Textbook is not mandatory but I say it's a must have bc she uses ppts, but TRUST me, having it makes the class a WHOLE lot easier. This class a lot of material in general, but prof. Seeke makes it more doable.
She's very nice and strict. She makes you study and learn. Because if you don't study and that, then she wouldn't be appreciate. So please make sure you study and do your very best. She doesn't take slackers or those who refuse to study. This class isn't for slackers or for those who don't want to study at all especially full time jobers.
As a student who had to retake Bio,I can say she's a great teacher. I'd to relearn the material;previous professor was awful, and she helped a lot. She is clear, lectures are fun, especially if you are visual learner, and KNOWS how to teach! She gives study guides for quizzes and tests and answers questions nicely. Posts notes on BB but go to class.
I enjoy taking this class a lot! The lectures are fun and there's classwork almost every class so don't skip class. She will help during office hours and will answer any questions. She gives study guides and that helps a lot because Bio can be a tough class, too much to cover in little time. I recommend taking her class if you get the chance.
She is nice and knowledgeable but her tests is what killed my grade. She gives you like 3-4 short answer questions. I wouldn't recommend people to take her.
You have to work for this class but she doesn't mind going over things with you during her office hours.
Very knowledgable & passionate about subject. Really good lectures. Very willing & able to help outside of class. Expects some higher order thinking-to apply what's being learned. Great sense of humor. Very considerate, patient and respectful of every student. Bit slow with grades. Study guides are crucial, esp. those she gives from textbook.
She's such an awesome professor. I don't know why people give her poor ratings at all. I took her for microbiology, and that class totally changed my entire degree choice from nursing to micro. She's great at explaining things, very clear. She provides plenty of assistance to students. Just took BIO 101 since I'm now a bio major. Great as well.
Great at replying to my emails quickly and heavily monitored the discussion board to clear things up when needed. I'm not a fan of online classes, but she helped things run smoothly by her regular contact with her students. Assignments were straight forward and easy and could see how they helped me in her class and increase my understanding.
Professor Seeke is a real gem. She is always available and cares about her students. Simply study for her tests, do every lab assignment and ask for help if needed, she's always willing to help.
My exam grades were as follows: 90, 89, 85, 74, 83, 72 I was able to Ace the class because of the Extra Credit. DO the Extra Credit!! The short summer courses are extremely challenging because it's a TON of material in a short amount of time. For BIO142 I will likely take a full Fall or Spring semester. Prof. Seeke was very attentive and fair.
The professor would talk to fast to comprehend the material. Not a learning environment at all mostly a copy the lecture power point place to learn.
She's a great professor! she really goes in depth for the topics. The text book is not really required in my opinion, I didn't even open my. Just do the learning objectives after each lecture and the tests shouldn't be too difficult.
She is a sweet woman who really cares about her students actually learning. We had 10 10-point hw, 10 10-point quizzes, 3 50-point tests, 50points worth of lab work/report and 100-point final. All assessments were absolutely objective. If you are the type of person who really wants to understand and doesn't mind putting in some work, then take her.
Professor Seeke is an awesome teacher, but she is very difficult. There are actually no study guides. Instead there are Learning objectives. If you don't do them then you won't do great on the test. She is very picky on homework, but it helps with your grade. Attendance is a must. Studying is a must.
Very nice person. Very Clear learning objectives- No surprises on tests. Study what she lectures on, learning objectives, and PowerPoints, and you will have no problem. Much easier to take this class in person than online, which I have done. Very fun labs- Great class.
Professor Seeke is a great professor. She's really nice and is available outside of class for help. Her lectures are powerpoint based and she presents the information in a clear, organized way. Taking good notes and working on the learning objectives on BB as you go through will help you on the exam. I really enjoyed working in the lab.
she's by far the best professor I've had at NOVA. She breaks down the content for students to understand it fairly easily. Her exams are so easy and if you do the learning objectives, trust me, you will get a solid A in her exams. Even if you aren't a science person, she will still try her best to help you understand the content. not much hw.
This professor wants you to pass, so she will work with you to help you improve. Always use the worksheets she hands out as study guides for the exams and you will do fairly well. Not much homework and be sure to finish any take-home handouts, because sometimes it becomes extra credit. If you miss lectures, you probably won't do too well on exams.
I honestly didn't think I was gonna like her that much. She seemed pretty strict, and I thought this is going to be a difficult class. The more I got to know her, the more I found out she has the biggest heart ever. She dumb's down the material so students can understand better, she gives example on board and it was easy to understand. take her !!
She is extremely picky on her home-works. Exams are half multiple choice half fill in blanks or writing problems( and question are very confusing) I put so much effort for this class but still cant make it A.
I love this professor. She's super sweet and will give you all the help if you need it. Super helpful in labs, and her lectures are AMAZING she is so good at breaking things 2 make it easy to understand. Gives you learning objectives that 100% help you on her tests. Gives some hw but they're super easy. Def recommend her! Class is very easy going
Taking microbiology is already hard, but she made it even harder. No study guide, but she does give learning objectives which can be confusing. She is a very picky grader. For example for a 5 point he assignment she would give a 3.25 out of 5. Her lectures are very long and monotonous. The only enjoyable part was the lab.
Professor Seeke was really sweet, but her class was very difficult. On the first day of the course, she mentioned that we didn't need the textbook, but she would refer to the textbook for tests and homework. Professor was a tough grader and would take off points for tiny mistakes, half a point was given instead of a full point. Extra credit given!
She is a very knowledgeable professor but she has a thick accent. You will have 4 tests and lab assignments after each lecture, PLUS online homework. She is a very tough grader. Her exams are both multiple choice and short essay. DON'T TAKE HER.
Professor Seeke is a good professor. She answered all of my emails promptly. I did this course online, and it was very organized and thorough. It is definitely a lot of work; however, if you study hard, you can probably get an A or a B. I think she really desires the success of her students.
Professor Seeke is a great teacher. She's very good at explaining things in a way that makes sense and gives us enough time to complete dense readings and homework. I'd definitely take her class again.
Don't expect an easy A in this class, you are here to learn now aren't you?! Her lectures are clear and powerpoints are well presented. She does answer any questions you have. Get started on the learning objectives so can to make sure you are ready for the tests! Taking this class along with another science lab will be hard! not recommended!
She is really really nice, but does not explain anything very well. Powerpoints were filled with bullet points and direct info, but on the test she expects you to know more than what is given. No study guides and a lot of homework. Made us do labs right after every test. Also hard at times to understand her.
Lovely professor and person. For the students saying they don't understand her.. I had no issue at all and it is rude to post that here. She was a little unreasonable on grading labs / hw, but lMO, this was an easier science course in terms of the amount of content required to learn. An A is easily attainable if you study.
Love her! She has great lectures and is very good at answering questions. Few homework assignments. A lot of your grade if based on exams. She's more than willing to help you in and out of class. She moved our lecture exams, when she knew we weren't ready. She has great study guides. While lecturing she will tell you what's important.
Professor Seeke is amazing ! pay well attention to her lectures make sure to go to all labs, IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS , ASK!! i promise you she will help you to understand. She gives study guides for exams which is helpful.
Professor Seeke was phenomenal! She provides all of the powerpoints and actually does more than just read them aloud. She gives us in class practice work and very minimal graded homework. She provides us with learning objectives for each lab and its quiz and also for the chapters as a whole! And she moves around tests is the class isn't ready!
I wish she was more involved. It really is more of a teach yourself course. I had to correct my grade mistake.
Professor Seeke teaches in a fashion that's digestible and easy to understand. Labs are graded on attendance and are pretty simplistic and homework isn't very demanding. Attend lectures and labs, do the homework, and study for the exams; do what a student does and you'll do well! :)
Professor Seeke is the sweetest teacher at nova. Please ignore the bad reviews. She truly cares about her students. She gave me an extra week to study for an exam when I was sick. The exams are a little difficult but it's a bio class so of course you have to work hard and study. Please take her if you can!!!
A good professor, and she cares about her students. Class is difficult and requires a lot of dedication to learning the material. Once-weekly lab attendance is required, but labs are engaging and instructions are clear. Exams are difficult and you need a good grasp on the material, but Seeke provides study guides and learning objectives to help.
Best BIO teacher ever. She is very caring about her students and wants them all to succeed. Easy A if you enjoy the sciences
please dont take this proffessor, she is very rude and has a very thick accent- you will not understand a single word. she doesnt help the students to learn and pass the class. I will not recommend this class to anyone- please dont take her. she is very bad when it comes to explaining the material to the students.
The lecture was kind of difficult just because its BIO 150, but the prof tries to simplify it where she can. She's really nice especially when you ask for help. The labs were fun with her also. If you're taking this class, I recommend attending lecture regularly, because she often gives worksheets which sometimes can be for extra credit.
She is such a good professor, people commenting on her accent are a little excessive, you can understand her fine. She is not mean or anything people just need to learn to have a sense of humor, she funny and nice. She really cares about her students doing well, gives extra credit for simply completing the final. Definitely recc her, best at nova
the sweetest professor!! take her right now
Prof Seeke's class is challenging, but engaging. Attend lectures, use the textbook, and try unstuck ai for study prep - it really helps. Overall, a rewarding course if you put in the work.
Cares for her students, great professor, will go over material you don't understand and made Biology fun and easy! Would take her again for another Bio course!!
go to her classes, put in effort, and you'll be fine :) would take her again.
Great professor! -Her teaching method is write on the board. -Learning objective is clear and specific (helpful for the exam) -Lab was fun She does a good job Please take her
Professor Seeke is extremely caring and you can tell she wants all of her students to succeed. Her lectures are engaging and informative. The amount and difficulty of assignments are completely fair, and help you better understand the material. Tests are also fair. Attend lecture and lab and take notes, you will do well.
She is one of the best professor I had at NOVA
Absolutely loved her class, she explains thoroughly while using worksheets to help practice. Tests aren't bad, neither are quizzes as long as you pay attention. She's kind and really wants students to learn and do their best. 100% would take her class again.
Pr. Seeke is phenomenal - I feel blessed to have had the chance to take her course. I have never worked so hard at a class in my life, but Prof. Seeke gave lots of direction in homework, reports, group discussions and was always available to answer questions. Her time given truly made an impact in my comprehension & I'm so grateful to have had her.
Professor Seeke is an amazing professor. Her class is a bit difficult just because it is so much material but she will explain what you need to know in class. She writes notes on the board that are helpful and her learning objectives really follow what is on the exam. She genuinely cares for all of her students so take her!
