he teaches good but exams are very hard. no multiple choice. 5 big problems only. it's killing.
Awesome!
his exams are impossible. but gives partial credit.
he's smart but have no clue how to share his knowledge. hate the exam, impossible test. if you want to learn on ur own be my guest and take him, but if you want to learn from this professor, you're wasting your time.
Hasan is a Great Prof. He is helpful and very smart. If you go to class and review the problems he does in class before the exam you cannot fail. Everything he puts on the exams comes directly from his class lecture and notes. Much easier prof then anyone else you are going to get in ACCT 321/421.
not easy
Very good at teaching, exams are CPA exam standard, challenging but he says if u ace them, u have a good chance on CPA exams.... plus very helpful and available.
He is smart but NOT a good teacher.
good teacher, lots of extra credit in you attend the class. better than hylton.
Not the most exciting class ever. Take notes during class and study them before exams and you should be fine. A project and short assignments each week on HW Manager are required. Gives extra credit on the project and curves final grades. If you actually study a little it's not hard to get an A.
Not very good. Doesn't speak English very well.
he is better than hylton (who is the devil) very nice guy also
Very Nice prof. Class was hard, but he was very helpful.
The class was very difficult since ACCT is never easy. As for the class, make sure you fully understand ALL concepts & NEVER get behind in class because it will kill you. The teacher did try his best to present the material clearly. Teacher is better than Hylton for sure. Material is hard, good luck! If I had a choice pick Hasan, it will save you.
Very nice prof. The class is VERY hard, but he's very helpful. If you have the choice btwn he & Hylton...TAKE HASAN!!!! Consider yourself warned!!!
Best accounting prof, very intelligent, extremely helpful and polite. A MUST HAVE ACCOUNTING PROFESSOR.
he has a slight accent, but other than that he's great.got a B in this class compared to the D i got with hylton...take this professor!
He taught ACCT 311 for the first time this semester. Gotta say he sucks at it, not that he is a bad professor, he just has a hard time explaining things. I followed what others told me about him, thats why i took him. Too bad he turned out to be the worst teacher i ever had. Not helpful at all, and yes you will pass with a horrible grade.
He is the best professor for Accounting. Highly recommended. Take his class if you want to learn accounting. I took his Acct, and 311. I wish I could have him for all the accounting classes.
The Best teacher at GMU ever, he is so good in explaining everything. I think this genius is a practical genius, great great great style of teaching . The next king of GMU Accounting
best prof....
Prof Hassan is one of the best ...His demo problems are themost helpful.
I have no grudge against this professor, he is a very nice guy. Tries his best to teach, but the problem is that he just can't get the message through. He is terrable at explaining, and for the people who say he is the best, please be honest.
Great guy. Cracks some great jokes here and there. He gives a few extra credit points especially towards the end. IT'S ACCOUNTING PEOPLE!! OPEN THE BOOK!
Not the best professor, he is really nice though and tries to explain well. I think the problem with the class is that he doesn't go over enough practice problems and his demo problems are so easy compared to his actual exam questions. Also He doesn't tell you what problems you should do in the textbook.
He does not have much experience in teaching. He does not know how to listen to students and is busy writing on the board. He needs to make sure that students understand what he is talking about. If you are below the average, it means you failed his class; he will simply fail you. He acts frivolously and seems he is agitated while he is teaching
EXAMS ARE EXTREMLY HARD! YOU better study!!, his teaching is awesome, and very clear, very helpful, and good teacher! good notes, extra credit opportunities, curves at the end of semester. Turn in the project early for extra points!
If you have to take MSOM 300 i highly recommend taking Professor Hasan! Accounting is the hardest class ever...but Hasan curves all tests, gives extra credit assignments, and curves your final grade. If it wasnt for him understanding that we all were Business minors, then none of us would have passed the class.
wow. He is a bad teacher because his demo problems are way too easy. "Just study the demo problems and you will get an A on the exams." -Not true. Must study the demos but more importantly, you MUST study from the text for his exams are extremely hard and comprised mostly from text end of chapter tests.
He needs to go over the HW problems.
Prof. Hasan made this class so easy to learn. His class notes were clear and organized. I hardly used my book. Go to class, take notes, do all the assignments and you should be good to go. He curves and gives extra credit as well. I hope he teaches other Acct. classes. Highly recommend.
An easy class. So many extra credit opportunities, the last one even adds 10 extra points to the final grade. He even curves afterwards!!!
His tests are hard, but he's trying to prepare you for the final which was difficult. Attend every class and reading the chapters really helped me. Also, turn in both parts of project 1 week early to get extra credit. He doesn't tell u bout xtra credit the first time!! It can really help your grade. Nice guy too. Also, he curves final grades!
this guys is like the worst teacher there could possibly be. he says to just study the demo problems thoroughly and you'll get an A but they are useless. Some one has already said that but i just wanted to repeat that. Don't take him because you will not get an A.
this guys is like the worst teacher there could possibly be. he says to just study the demo problems thoroughly and you'll get an A but they are useless. Some one has already said that but i just wanted to repeat that. Don't take him because you will not get an A.
Hasan is excellent! He is one of the best accounting professors at GMU. The exams are substantially based on the homework problems, except for exam problems from the accounting dept. test pool.
Prof. Hasan really knows his stuff. He is a good teacher and presents the info in a clear format. His tests are pretty hard because he understands acct so well that forgets how difficult it can be for students. He really wants to see you do well and will help any way possible. One of his hobbies is catching cheaters. He loves an honest class.
Great Teacher. I had to retake Acct 301 because of the new prereq. and he kept it interesting. He doesnt focus much on reading or the conseputal part of accounting. He mostly does problems on the board. Follow his demo problems and homework. His test are kind of hard so studt a lot
Like everyone said, tests are extremely hard. I studied hard, but still did extremely bad. Class avg first test was 70. I got a 60. I was waiting for extra credit opportunities and havent seen any. I wish there was an easier teacher
Simply the best! He explains the concepts so clearly - his lectures are very helpful. The exams are very hard though - but as long as you understand the concepts and hw you'll do fine.
This professor is terrible. He doesn't wanna help anyone besides class timings. So, if you don't understand anything in the class don't go to his office for help because he will give you a long lecture and don't provide you any knowledge. DON'T TAKE HIM..
Worst professor I've had. Can't understand him when he talks because he doesn't project and he has an accent. Class problems are fairly easy, but test problems are stupid hard. So unclear.
AMAZING teacher! You must go to class to get his notes, which you should study from (don't read the book). Know the notes inside and out (write EVERYTHING he writes on the board), the demo probs and the hw probs and you'll be set for the test. That's what I did and I got an A. And his accent is NOT bad, he talks plenty loud, and he is not unfair.
Love this guy. Great teacher and always willing to share funny stories about his experiences as an auditor. The class is tough, but Hasan makes it fun. Along with 3 exams, you are also given a semester long mock-audit project that reflects really well on you during job interviews. Not much of a curve, but oh well. Recommended.
one of the worst professors, take somebody else for this class specifically. His demo problems are not helpful at all for exam preperation, but if you do want to do good please study by yourself in advance at least a month ahead. 3 exams, very long and hard, not easy at all no matter how time you spent preparing for it.
3 exams, very tough and long. Tries to teach as best as he can (which is horrible). Didn't learn anything from his class, spent months preparing for class, infact i spent more time studying for this class than 331. He curves, but what is the point if you don't learn anything? Nice fellow, but don't expect to learn anything from his class.
Really great teacher. Very thorough it's all about the demo problems. Go to class and take notes I never opened my text book. The exams are tough you have to study and practice but that's just the way accting is, it's a lot of material. He has an accent but it's a non issue and class never went the whole time we were usually out 40 minutes early.
This is a GREAT professor, he really understands accounting and this allows him to explain things very clearly. He does demo problems that really allow you to understand the material. It's not an easy course, so he makes it as understandable as possible! I highly recommend you take this professor for Acct 301
Great Professor! Works problems from start to finish. He is very helpful when you get confused; make sure you ask! Exams are hard but covers the materials from class. If you go to class and work the problems, you should do well in his class.
Great teacher! He really knows the material and has a great way of explaining it so that it becomes very easy to understand. Unfortunately the department makes all the exams and only 50 go toward your grade for homework, the rest is from 3 test. The last one was extremely difficult but I ended up with a B with alot of studying. Great Prof.!!
Great Guy. This was my third time taking this class. Probably the first Prof at mason who doesn't use PowerPoint to teach a class. You really learn the stuff by going to class and doing the demo problems. Test are hard but they are from the Dept not him. Stay away from other ACCT 301 teachers I have had them all lol.
I took a class with professor Hasan, loved it. Now I am going to sit for my CPA license and so relaxed because he taught me auditing. Did you know, he is one of the two professors who did not have to have a PhD to teach accounting at mason.
I am in the middle of taking this course (acct301), and from what I have grasped so far is that professor Hasan is a great professor. He knows what he's talking about and is willing to help if you need it. If accounting is difficult for you I recommend you take him rather than any other professor.
This was my 4th time taking this class. I'm not sure why accounting is so difficult. 301 is much different than 203, which was so much easier.
Nice and SMART guy. The material is really hard so it's nice to have somebody who knows what they're doing. Explains things very clearly. Lots of in-class examples. Weekly homework is online. I never used the book but many others did. I recommend him.
If you rate him low because the Exams are hard, he is not the one who writes them. However, he is the best one who prepares you for the tests. I just studied his notes and examples and got an A. Of course you have to understand what is going on. His demo problems are the best. He is very helpful and very clear.
Hasan wants to help students but the time is very limited. More problems need to be solved in class because the assignments are a lot. Homework and the project takes up all your time.Due to loss of enough time students can not have enough time to prepare.
Prof. Hasan is an excellent teacher. He is incredibly patient and willing to delve into topics with thoughtful explanations when students ask questions. He clearly explains the salient details on each topic, often repeating the more important aspects of the material. He might be the best 'pure teacher' I've had in over 240 college credit hours.
Professor Hasan is an amazing Professor.. he is very clear in class and his demo problems are a really good introduction to understanding the material. Lets face it accounting is a difficult major, so you will have to prepare prepare prepare,& know the material inside out. Projects help, so don't procrastinate. I did really well :) but good luck!!!
This man can teach. When I walk out of the class room the concepts are crystal clear and all I have to do is review before exams. He puts emphisis on important topics and his demo problems help understand the concept. I wish I could take him for every accounting class at GMU.
You can tell that Professor Hasan is passionate about taxation (if that is possible.) I highly recommend taking classes with him. My suggestion is to take very good notes, and pay attention to his example problems. Don't let anyone fool you this is meant to be a tough course. It could be broken down into several classes (and maybe should.)
Hasan has got to be one of the best professors at Mason. If you are an Accounting major he is definitely a must, he explains everything clearly and actually cares about his students. I don't what I would have done without him teaching here!!!!
Highly recommended, nominated ?best professor of accounting". I learned so much from him. Read before going to class. He makes any accounting subject easy to learn.I felt proud of myself at the end of his every class. Makes jokes that you never get bored.Enjoyed ever moment being in his class and learning a lot from him. Nice person with big heart.
Very complicated subject, but he explained very well and did many examples. Practice his examples as many times as you can, before and after the class. You must understand his examples in alternative ways, than you can do really well in this class. One of the best professor at GMU.
The best so far!!!
Very fair, very professional.
AMAZING PROFESSOR! I have taken 461 and 351 with him, and he takes the time to prepare his outlines and come to class. He is VERY helpful and truly cares about his students. I took tax with Magro twice and got a D but got a B with him because he explains everything so well! You will not regret taking him for anything!
Awesome professor. Keeps the class interested the whole time and explains things very clearly and simply. Definately one of a very very few good accounting professors at mason.
I took professor hasan during the summer! Hands down, BEST ACCOUNTING PROFESSOR EVER! I don't know why he's not teaching any major accounting classes right now :(((((
This is by far the best teacher in Accounting I have ever had. The class is not easy but this teacher is prepared, make jokes, dances around the class room as he explains concepts breaking them up into components. I wish this professor would teach more & advance classes. I really enjoyed this class - exceptional teacher.
Very helpful. Applies what you learn to real world situations. Best ACCT prof I've had.
BEST ACCT Teacher! He explains everything slowly and clearly. Tells you what is extra important to know for the test. I missed some lectures and most labs and have an A. If you read the book, then go to lecture it is pretty straightforward. Not an easy class but he makes it really clear. Has 3 tests(100pts/each) and final(200pts). No other assignme
Try to get him for sure for at least one of your classes if you are an accounting major. I am taking him again next semester.
Hasan is an AMAZING teacher! I had him for acct 203 and 301 and he is one of the best accounting professors at Mason. He makes complicated things clear and simple (somethings too simple so go to his office hours if you want to understand the 'why' part). Every topic he does, he also does demo problems(examples) to help you learn it. Great Teacher.
Fall sem. - GREAT TEACHER. Explains very clearly! Gives demo (example) prob. which are similar to the ones on the tests! GO TO LECTURE - You'll only screw yourself over if you don't. Need to read textbook for minor details on test also, but it's not too bad. Shouldn't have switched out of his 301 class this sem. :(
Love him! Soooo much better than my last Acct professor. Teaches everything slowly and clearly, and works through all test problems on the board. You do need to attend class to get a good grade, and make sure to spend a few hours studying before the test. Sweet man and great teacher.
Love professor Hasan! Best accounting professor! Awesome course too.
I don't know how everyone give him a good comment. His lecture is very easy but for the exam is very hard and none of problems on exams that relate to what he teach in class. You have to be an expert in accounting to pass his class or else you won't pass.
He doesn't sugar coat anything. His tests are harder than then anything he goes over in class, in the textbook, and his demo problems. If it weren't for my recitation teacher (bless him) I would have been screwed. Cumulative final, if you do well he bumps your overall grade up. It's my major and he scared me a little.
I'm not sure how he is getting such good ratings. Concepts are clear when you are in class but exams are extremely hard. The first exam was the easiest. The second and third were ridiculous. It seems like the material covered in class and demo problems do not help on the exam. Attending class is very important.
Very hard class, if you don't do well on the first test forget it you would not pass (1st is the easiest), his tests are very tricky, way to hard, long, and there is not enough time to finish. He doesn't curve or give extra credit. He doesn't give you enough material to study from.
Hasan's class is really hard. Everything seems simple and straightforward but the exams are so tricky. The online homework and textbook homeworks don't really help either. Just do the multiple choice quizzes on the book's website. I think a lot of things on exams we have never even learned. I worked hard for this class and studied but still did bad
Please do not be influenced by these Acct 203 student ratings. The material itself is difficult if you don't study so not sure why ppl are giving him for thier stupidity. He is an super at explaning concepts & His exams are not hard if you go to class & pay attention. The problems on his exam comes from the demo problems in does in class.
He does not answer any e-mails. Does not help after class. He is clear about the subject tho. He said he would adjust the grades at the end of semester, he did not. It was BS. Everything make sense till he gives you a test, very tricky. This class brought my GPA so down. Take it with someone else if you are not accounting major.
He is a great professor. His teaching style is very clear and extremely well. Accounting 301 is a hard class, so if you want a good grade go to every class, study hard and try to understand the material. Exams are hard but if you prepare yourself, it is not difficult.
I can honestly say that I learned everything I should have learned at NOVA in the first 2 weeks with Prof. Hasan. There is a lot of info. His lectures are very clear and he shows you step by step how to find the solution. But if you dont practice outside of the demo problems, you will struggle. I read every chapt. and did the HW, it helped!
He makes things pretty clear with his demo problems, but the exams are so tricky, half of the exam questions are nothing like the demo problems and he doesn't respond to emails, he himself doesn't go over the exam with you, his TA's will do that and they aren't helpful either because they don't remember the material.
Great Professor! He not only knows his subject but also knows how to teach. If you like everything being explained on the white board, he does exactly that making it more comprehensible for students. Exams are tricky but since you learn so much, you can get good grades. I passed with A. But more importantly,I love financial accounting for life now.
Great Professor!! I read the chapt, did the hw, practiced the demo problems, and did some problems from the text. IF you really dedicate yourself to studying you will get a B. His demo problems are extremely helpful!!
Hasan is a great professor! He is passionate about what he's teaching and he really cares about wanting his students to understand the material. I took govt with him and despite the fact that it was a condensed summer class, I learned more from it than I did with any other accounting class I've taken so far.
I'm an Economics major, but I took his summer course and found myself very interested in the material-simply because Hasan explains everything so well ! I don't have to take any more Acct classes, but if I did- I would definitely make sure I had Hasan. Highly recommend him.
He speaks so quiet in a large auditorium it's extremely hard to hear even when I sat in the front row. I felt that he was unable to answer questions well and was not clear what to study for exams
Hasan is the 5-star general of accounting. I will warn you, he and this class are not easy. Took me 30+ hours a week on this class. Gives you CPA level demo problems and quizzes. But teaches CPA level and can explain the hardest concepts better than any powerpoint. Class is ALL WHITEBOARD AND MARKER, no PP. THE BEST LECTURER AT MASON, PERIOD.......
Go to all classes as you learn a lot in his classes. Keep up with the textbook readings and do the Connect Homeworks. Even though they might not be required they are still helpful. If you miss a class take notes from a student. He's the best accounting professor I've had!!! Definitely recommend him!
I know 332 is hard. and I tried my best over 4 weeks of summer. Not blaming on him or anything. He teaches just fine, but he's not willing to help out students. He won't try to "work with you". He doesnt care for anything but for himself.
This is a great professor for teaching ACCT 203. I took him in the summer. His presentations are only white board, and are very helpful. Their content are the most important concepts and things that you need to know at least for this course. Hi gives practical examples and he tries to explain everything pretty clear without any confusing.Best prof!
I took this course over the summer. It's easy to fall behind because it's only a 5 week course. I recommend reading the book and doing the Connect homework. The material is fairly easy and fun once you fully grasp it. The Spiceland textbook is good. He explained everything very well and his lectures were enjoyable.
I took Hasan's government class over the summer. Its actually an easy class, but the material is the complete flip-flop of accounting. For profit rules or notes are useless in this class. Hasan's test are hard, but these are CPA level difficulty. Come to class prepared and really listen to the guy and you should be good.
I took this course and was expected to do very well. I attended class, studied the text, did the all of the Connect HW, practiced demo problems, and got a tutor. I received a 52% on the first exam and had to drop. It was by far the most difficult exam I took. Now I have to take the class in the summer and I will NOT be taking this professor.
I very much enjoy Hasan's teaching style. He spends his time in class working practice problems with you that demonstrate the principles that you will see on the test. Also I find he structures what he teaches in a way that makes it clear how it all fits together. specifically for gov't as far as ACCT goes not especially hard, just different.
Professor Hasan is an awesome professor, however his exams are brutal. I had previously taken Accounting courses and gotten nothing lower than an A, but I was forced to drop this class upon receiving a failing grade after the first exam. Do not get hung up on the Connect hw, or the exams will catch you off guard. Good luck, you will need it.
I'm and A student and this class was by far the hardest class ever. The professor was not very helpful AT ALL and did absolutely no guidance or preparation for first exam. I had to drop after the first exam because I am ACC major and after failing the first exam there was no way to get the B needed. I will NOT take him again.
Prof.Hasan is much better than Prof.Rick Warne and Janet Faughnan. This was my last chance to pass ACCT301. I was so happy that I was in Prof.Hasan's class and earned an A. His teaching technique helped me comprehend the course. His exams were way too much easier than Prof.Rick and Janet if you came to class, took notes, and practice problems.
Exams are tricky and hard! Do not depend on the demo problems and connect homework to help you out on the exams. He teaches at a good pace but isn't willing to provide additional help. I highly reccomend taking a different teacher. Most likely you'll get a C...
The professor is extremly hard. The demo problems sometimes are useless. attendence is very important. Dont miss class. He curves at the end of the semester. His tests are really tricky. IT CAN BE DONE JUST PAY ATTENTION and put at least 15-20 hrs a week worth of studying. If you think that ACCT 203 is extrmely hard. Drop this course
When going into this class, I had a positive mindset & thought I would do well b/c ACCT 203 wasn't difficult & I was, at the time, an Accounting Major BUT, this class was challenging to say the least w/this professor. There was Connect & 3 test. The connect wasn't too hard, but the Exams were. I believe I passed b/c the entire dept. did a curve.
The professor, explains best he can problems in class. But that is all you will get! You HAVE TO study book on your own at home otherwise you will fail! Read it top to bottom! If you go to his office hours that is all he will tell you: read the book. Seems like during office hours you bother him and he wants you out of there asap! Do not take him!
Prof Hasan is the reason I switched my major to acct. this is the second time I had him as a prof and with out a doubt he is one of the best at GMU. He writes all of his notes on the board instead of just talking at you or reading from the slides. its not an easy class, you need to study hard but Hasan helps you understand the material.
The last two accounting classes I have taken I did well in. I got B's in both, but this professor honestly does not care about the success of his students. We would e-mail and he would either reply and not answer the question or not reply at all. Needless to say 75% of my class is going to have to repeat it. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!
Acct 301 is a difficult course. Compared to other Acct prof, Hasan is by far the best. Take notes in class, and know the class problems like the back of your hand and you'll be ok. Also if you fail the first test but do well on the next 2 you can still pass because he weighs how you finish more than how you start. Never read the book. Still passed.
Professor Hasan is the best ACCT 301 professor. He made the class very interesting. I loved how he explains and writes everything on the board unlike other professors who want you to do the work on your own. Never uses Powerpoint like others which is useless in classes like this. Highly Recommended but work hard. Focus on notes they're essential.
Prof. Hasan is completely indifferent about his students. He prepares his lectures and will not stop his "performance" to answer questions. As a result, there were many conversations happening among students trying to figure out what he was talking about. He's very intelligent, just not a good teacher. READ THE BOOK & PRACTICE THE EXERCISES!!!
Professor Hasan is one of the best accounting professors in Mason. Even though his tests are tough he actually gives you knowledge that you need to get ready for CPA. His lectures are engaging and interesting, no PowerPoints. Only white board and demo problems. He always points out the main aspects that you will need to know to succeed in class.
Professor Hassan is very knowledgeable of his material and the fact that he has practical knowledge helps a lot. He will guide you to topics that are crucial in the CPA exam. However, for now most of us are just trying to graduate. When the time comes, we will study real hard for the CPA. I wish his exams were easier with room for extra pts.
Make sure you ask a lot of question. Revise and resubmit all papers whether you got a perfect score or not because he will not give you an F if you don't revise and resubmit. He is terrible at responding to emails and answering questions. I find him to be very arrogant and extremely unhelpful. His tests are also irrelevant to his lectures.
What he puts on the board is not an indicator of the test. His notes are easy to follow while his test are extremely hard and vague.
He is not helpful at all. I did the homework over and over again. I went through my text book thoroughly and I still couldn't pass the tests. I asked him for help during his office hours and he refused, telling me to go to the tutoring center when I work full time. He was not willing to make appointments at all.
Great professor! re-write over and over the demo problems explained in class until you can solve them onyourown. Look at the text book problems for reference only in order to understand other question formats in the tests. First test kinda of hard B. Second test SUPER easy A almost dumb to help bad graders. Final have not take it yet. Short classes
I took Hylton my sophomore year at GMU for ACCT 203 and failed miserably. I ended up taking Hasan for 203 during the summer and passed it with an A. He is a wonderful professor and completely outlines the course for you and makes it easy. I highly recommend taking him if you want to pass ACCT 301 as well.
Prof Hasan rushed through the materials and finished 3hrs class in half. He doesn't give out study guide for exams but exams are fairly similar to his demo problems. It was a self-study class for me, and he doesn't seem very helpful when you ask him questions.
Hasan was a pretty nice teacher! He didn't read from powerpoints but actually interacted with students and made the lectures bearable. The test were somewhat challenging but as long as you study the textbook, demo problems, and the CPA prep book (just skim this one) you should be fine!
Right down everything he says or writes on the board. Follow along and copy the demo problem. Read the topic he tells you in the textbook. Repeat the demo problems over and over until you memorize them. If you put in effort, you should pass, or even get an A comfortably.
Amazing professor! Best acc professor at GMU I hate accounting but Prof. Hasan teaches really well. If you follow along in class take notes and keep up with his demo problems there's no reason not to get an A or B
Best acct prof at GMU. Accounting is difficult but Prof Hasan makes it a lot easier by having handouts and showing all examples on the board. He doesn't teach through powerpoint and hand writes everything. Know how to do the demos that he passes out in class. The demos are basically what he tests you on. Amazing professor and very helpful
Professor Hassan is not helpful at all, though grader and he does not care about the students. It has been the worst professor i have ever taken for an accounting class in my opinion Professor Ingram is way better than Hassan that being said there is no need for further explanations. Avoid him at all costs.
Professor Hasan is one of the best Accounting teacher at GMU. He takes his time to explain problems with his students and give examples. I like his lecture style by writing problems on the blackboard and make it easy for students to understand the concept in Government accounting and non for profit. His exams are tough but he does curve at final.
Best professor at GMU , I just do not understand why they don't have him teach more of the early acct courses. He truly wants you to understand the material and wants you to succeed, way better than that devil Hylton. I took his class after i failed hers and ended up with an A. Take him you wont regret it.
Don't skip; Attendance isn't mandatory but never uses BB/email, so you'll be missing out on important info's. He is not willing to help. Gives out demo questions in class, and hand writes everything. Tests are hard. 20 multiple choice (50%)+ Short/Long writing questions (50%). Demo Q's are on exam but weakly correlated. Just take someone else.
Good Prof, expln things clearly. Rmb this cls is ctrl by the dept, its tough. Had 81 gng into final & end up w/ a D. Stdy 2 wks before, nht & day, but needed to focus on speed also. No excuse & partly his fault, it didnt help that he was sick the 2nd to lst wk(cancel cls, lt min sat mke-up was nt fair), mtrl big % of final & WAS late for the final
Don't take him. His exams are really hard. I studied well for homework but connection homework do not help you on his exams. When you ask or send email, he won't answer yours. Now I regret to take his class.
Professor Hassan is very good. He knows how to deliver the material without any confusions. However, Acct 331 is the toughest class ever. Take it seriously, attend class, and practice a LOT !
Has bad handwriting which makes it a pain since he writes all the notes on the board. He has secret notes that have all the notes filled in but we don't have access to it. So you better come to class. A lot of material is on the 3 tests so study those notes like crazy. He is not very approachable for help but ask anyway. Class is hard so study.
Test is not involved to what he taught. He keeps mention CPA and CPA all the time. Ignore him. He does not like to share or help. He is good at showing non-respect to his students. No care at all. He hate when you come to his office. He will ask you if you say you want to stop by during his office time like this "Why?" haha. How come????
Very hard class, try not to skip because every class is important. The professor is very experienced, friendly and helpful. He writes everything on the board in different colors so if you are visual learner it will be helpful a lot.
Absolutely TERRIBLE. I'm not sure for which crazy reason but he doesn't allow students take a look on their exams. So you will have to accept the grade he gives to you. You can email him or ask in person and he will just ignore you. Make a smart decision and take commercial law. ACCT 472 with Hasan is horrible. The worst professor!
He never passes back exams. He is very inconsistent with how he treats students. For example, he allows some students to go to his office hours to see exams, and not for others. The material is difficult by default, but a large portion of his exams are not even reflective of what he teaches. Does not even use blackboard.
Seriously, the worst professor ever. He talks facing the board so cant hear him properly. He doesnt even explain properly whatever notes he gives in class. Vet ready to learn everything on your own.
Very tough grader!! The material is actually interesting and good to know, especially for the CPA exam but it's unfortunate that Hasan is the only one teaching this class. Take BULE 402 or 370 instead because this guy grades very harshly. You also never get feedback on your exams either unless you go to his office hours and ask for it
ACCT 672 Professor Hasan is a great person, very professional & caring and you know where you stand with him. He recognizes that the course is a hard course and he provides lots of notes during all in class sessions so you better study off the notes, practice in connect homework as its ALL Journal Entries and MC questions.
Worst professor to take for accounting, especially in the summer. Exams were completely different than the material taught and 10x harder. Also, he doesnt give partial credit on the free hand problems on the exams.
Professor Hasan's lectures are a lot to process. However, not because of him but rather due to the nature and difficulty of the material. Govermental accounting is very different from FASB; many new accounts and booking of journal entries we are not used to. My advice is to read the book for MC and redo journal entries he provides during lectures.
Okay, so whoever is debating on taking him. Do yourself a favor and DONT. I made the worst mistake of my life taking him for two of my courses. If you want a professor that has 0 availability, never in office hours, ignores emails, and straight up disappears after finals, then take him and I will guarantee you will be in hell.
He is honey itself.
While many allowances can be made for the invasion of Covid in the classroom, Hasan literally disappeared. He posted joke lectures that were a coffee shop conversation overviewing what the chapter would teach us. The textbook is poorly written, disorganized, and riddled with so many grammatical errors it was distracting.
READ THIS RATING PLS. This professor does NOT care about his students. He ignores students and laughs at them when they ask to meet for office hours. In my 5 years of college, I have never reported a professor UNTIL NOW. I have taken him 3 times, so believe my review of him. DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR GODS SAKE.
Uploaded under 2 hours of lecture for an entire course. GMU has no standards during covid-19.
This is the worst professor i ever had in my graduate course. the class is hard as there are many accounting rules/practices are differ than GAAP accounting. However, the professor put zero efforts for the online lectures (only 1 or 2 with 20 mins less each )as this class has been offered online prior pandemic. Be prepared to read and learn on you.
The other ratings are true. If you are looking for a professor who actually teaches, this is not the course for you. Be prepared to read and teach yourself as the class lectures are only 10-12 minutes per chapter and are essentially him reading his instructor noice. To make it worse, exams are closed book/closed notes!
This class require a lot of time and hard work. I read every chapter three or four times to solve the homework problems. For both midterm and final exam, I studied for one whole week. Getting an A is this class is highly possible if you work hard. I did better in my final exam than midterm. Practice HW and Read chapters. MCQs on exams are hard.
He is a Tough grader but he does curve at the end. Read the book, solve MCQs for each chapter, Practice Journal Entries and repeat. CAFR Project is not hard, Just answering questions. Connect Homework can be submitted multiple times. Learn smart in connect is helpful. Pay close attention to his in class notes. His exams are based on his notes.
The fact that I've had professors at a community College who aren't cpas know more about accounting and how to teach it is appalling and this school costs 3 times more for as far as I can tell 1/5th of the quality do yourself a favor don't only not take this Professor go find a school with actual good accounting finance and business professors.
Please dont take Hasan for ACCT 311. Our class boiled down to three tests and HW. Hasan will do the bare minimum at best. Lectures have nothing to do with the textbook. He will not respond to emails. Its impossible to study for exams because they arent drawn from the textbook or his demo problems. Just take anyone else and youll thank me for it
Idk how Mason thinks we can learn Govt Accting by only reading a textbook. The teaching format is horrible and needs a different professor. The only assignments that matter are the 2 exams and he does not give curves. Lecture videos are an average of 30mins while chapters are 4+ hrs long. It was a true waste of money and I wish I could get it back.
Don't take him for anyone who sees the post!!! The biggest mistake I've made is to take two of his courses. Exams are way too hard compared to the textbook or his lecture. He told everyone that he won't reply emails so anybody who don't accept that can go for others but the problem is that he is the only instructor!
Posts 10 min lectures on the chapter and then tells you to read the textbook and do the homework. Definitely the most boring least caring professor in my educational career.
Possibly worst professor at GMU. Does not teach information that is actually in exams. Class is only graded on two exams and a writing assignment that is not even graded by him. He does not care about his students if almost half of them fail. I remember he said his exams have a low 60% average so I do not understand how he is still a professor.
Difficult, time intensive class for CPA Exam Prep. 45% midterm, 45% final, and 10% connect homework with final grade curve. Read chapters and do homework before class to understand lectures and multiple choice questions. Redo in class demo problems multiple times on your own without notes to understand GASB financial statements and journal entries.
37.5% midterm, 37.5% final, 10% connect homework, individual writing assignment #1 5%, and individual writing assignment #2 10% with final grade curve. Midterm and final are based on textbook readings and lecture notes with multiple choice and short answer questions. Connect HW for completion grade. Writing Assignments 1 and 2 has different grader.
Nice professor but his tests are extremely difficult. Only material to go off of was Connect HW and lecture/textbook notes. HW was nothing like the exams and his lectures did not prepare you well either. Textbook very dry. We often finished class 45 minutes early which is nice, but annoying when lectures need more detail to prep for the exams.
472 is for Government/NFP accounting, it's a tough class since the rules and statements differ from GAAP. 90% of your grade is from the midterm/final exam (45% each), and 10% is for the hw. My advice would be to study each chapter demo problems Hasan gives lectures on, until you know them by heart. It is literally the only way to pass this class.
