She is very easy, and very fair. If you follow her rules and stay in third person and use all of your sources, it should be easy, if not then you will not do, so well. She is very straight forward and tells you exactly what she expects. She also gives a bonus assignment as well.

Once you get the concept, its a great class. Class participation can be fun.

if you write your papers and follow her directions you will pass, I'm a much beter writer since her class, its a fun class that you don't mind going to, good class to wake up to as your first one, wish she taught more classes, if you hade a problem with her it was prob your own fault even though she can be moody

I took her for American-Lit. She was ecstatic to learn that I adored Nietzsche just because it signified that I could think, a rarity at BRCC. Professor Varnado is an exemplary teacher and a fine though occasionally vehement person. The latter signified a salient sensibility, which made things quite interesting, not to mention thought provoking.

Love her! So glad I decided to take her. She comes off as really weird, but I promise she's really awesome. She's a great teacher and extremely funny. She gives bonus points like crazy, and doesn't really care if you show up to class or not. One of the coolest teachers I've ever had at BRCC. You'll be glad you took her, I promise.

She's a really awesome teacher! She's pretty sarcastic so she's not meant for the sensitive people. She's more than willing to help and, although she doesn't smile often, she's pretty funny and down to earth. I would definitely recomment her. :)

She is a great teacher. She is mean but so funny with it. She does 7 papers and if i, a math major can get through it then anybody can. She is specific in what she wants in her paper so do what she says. She will help if actually go to her for help.

Ms. Varnado is one of those funny-sarcastic people, she likes to act tough but she really isn't. Directions in class are somewhat clear. She FINDS ways to give students bonus points through game and such. Easy A if you do the work, don't plagiarize though, she'll know it instantly.

BEST TEACHER EVER! I just finished taking her class and trust my advice, take her! Like everyone else says, she's an honest grader but makes up for it with bonus games. Very sarcastic but she likes to have fun with it. We even got a pizza party at the end.

OMG, one of the best teachers on campus. Not only is she funny as crap, she ACTUALLY TEACHES. If there is something that you cant understand, she has no problem in helping you whether it is in class or during her office hours. Shea may be sarcastic and come off as a b*tch sometimes (only if you don't get her hilarious and quirky sense of humor), but she honestly is a wonderful teacher who keeps her class interesting. She grades fairly and thoroughly explains all assignments and helps the best to her ability. I would take her class over and over again.

Professor Varnado is an outstanding English instructor, she is crystal clear on what she expects of her students and she doesn't take any BS from anyone. There is no homework except for a paper due every other week and her grading is tough but very fair. DO NOT buy the textbooks! she'll tell you that from day one, all you need is the MLA handbook.

If you don't take sarcasm well then you probably wouldn't like her, she's a very open minded person, very helpful/clear with paper topics. If you need help just ask. She's very unique and can be a really funny and goofy person, but she does expect to be taken seriously so don't interrupt her when she's speaking/teaching.

she genuinely wants students to do well. HOWEVER, IF YOU CANNOT GO A SINGLE CLASS PERIOD WITHOUT PLAYING WITH YOUR PHONE DON'T TAKE HER. seriously. She is one of my favorite teachers because she really does try to help you, but she doesn't tolerate being disrespected. Go to class, pay attention, turn in assignments on time and you will get an A.

Mrs. Varnado is very discrete. She tells you what she expects of you and if you follow her instructions you will pass! If you need help and ASK her she will help you! She is a great teacher!

Shea Varnado is the BEST English teacher @ BRCC! Gave papers every other week.VERY CLEAR on assignments. Kept class interesting. She is very sarcastic that makes everyone laugh. Graded Fairly. She never took sides on anything and never pushed to be for or against. I would recommend her to everyone. FYI, only book needed is the MLA Handbook.

If you want a great English professor, look no further. She really is a great teacher. She's hilarious and makes sure that you understand the material. I really recommend her to anyone who's looking to have a great semester. By far my favorite professor in college! Wish I could take her again.

Ms. Shea is one of those people that is a self-proclaimed nerd and loves to throw that in your face at every possible convenience. She also loves to insult people. Having said that, VERY EASY A. Six papers and a very, very simple final. Just make sure you have a thesis and a correct works cited.

Overall a great teacher! Very concise about what she expects and when she expects it. This is mostly a writing class, NOT a test taking class; so time management is important. She has peer reviews before each paper is due and allows you to also pick her brain for any ideas or advise. She's great, I would take her again without a doubt!

She also gives clear rules and expectations. She is here for you and is about communication. She is not as bad as she tries to seem though. Just keep a tough skin and do the work.

Ms. Varnado gets a bad rep, but in all honesty she is a really good teacher. There is no way anyone should fail her class she grades fairly easy just be sure to properly cite your sources and turn your papers in on time and you will do fine. Ms. Shay is the bomb! Yes, she jokes harshly. Yes, she says she hates everyone but she's a awesome professor. If you can't take a joke then just don't take her class! but if you're out-spoken, like nerdygoofy jokes then this is the teacher for you. She grades fairly easy and makes morning classes bearable. I absolutely adore shea! She is one of the best instructors I have ever had. I loved her so much in English 102, I HAD to take her humanities class. It's so easy. If you want an easy A, take this course. She assigns two assignments and the final assignment is fun and creative. Just respect her and do your work, you'll be fine. Show you care.

Super sarcastic and doesn't give a care. If you get offended easily by someone being straight up don't take her. She'll help you if you really try and isn't too hard of a grader as long as you write on the correct topic. I enjoyed the class some people just can't handle her humor.

She is a great teacher, never a dull moment in her class. She makes sure you learn while enjoying a good laugh from time to time.

Make sure to use proper MLA format and you will pass the class with flying colors. She will act like she hates everyone, but you can tell behind the black trench coat, she lives for teaching. If you are looking for a run of the mill english class, Varnado's Eng 102, isn't for you. Be prepared to have tough skin and put in the work to pass. Her approach can be a bit harsh at times but it is with good intentions. #1 tip: follow rubric/paper directions!! #2: do not be afraid to ask her for help.

Shea is a very sarcastic professor. You have to be able to take a joke to be in her class. She is very caring and compassionate towards her students and wants to help you, if you are willing to put in the effort. If you give her respect, she'll show the same respect to you. This class is fun and laid back, as long as you follow her instructions.

This is the worst teacher to have for English, dont try and ask for help she will call you out and have you questioning your own abilities,but do take this class if you want to listen to a grown woman talk bout her daddy issues and how far she has to drive everyday,so do other people,why even come to teach if its such an inconvenience?

I ended this class with an A. Just take her directions and you'll be fine. It's hard to catch her outside of class, but it is possible. Had 5 papers for the semester. Which to me is a lot but do able. She likes things done a certain way. She is not a very social person but once yhu get to know her, you'll find her funny and down to earth.

This was a very good class awesome teacher, you must come to class and follow direction, if you wear you feelings on your sleeve dont take this class but she will have you ready for any class you need with the ability to write a successful paper.

Shea is the most caring teacher on BRCC campus. She very sarcastic but she doesn't mean any harm, she just like to joke alot so don't take it personnal. She does grade hard but will help you in anyway she can. It would be your job to put in the work to get the grade you want. I really enjoyed her class, also you skip class you will not pass.

Shes literally the most kind woman Ive ever met. Shes more than willing to help. I failed English before her and I felt so dumb until I realized I just wasnt getting the help I needed. She goes above and beyond for her class. She is just very sarcastic but she really does care. Had her for one and two.

She is a very good teacher. She is willing to work with you so you can pass her class. If you follow her directions you are almost guaranteed a good grade. Her sense of humor is something to get used to but she is very funny. She let me rewrite and correct a paper more than once a week or 2 after the due date.

Mrs. Varnado was the best! She walked me through a paper and corrected as many mistakes as she could before she let me turn it in! She would never allow a student to just submit anything for a grade. She's easy to talk to and very understanding.

I LOVEEEE Ms Shea, she helped me tremendously with my writing. I got a 50 on my first paper next one I got a 100. Very accessible outside of class hours and very funny, and if you fail you either didn't follow instructions or you tried cheating. For the recorded I'm 16 so if you can't do it there's some reevaluating you need to do.

Great professor! She is tough but if you listen to her feed back you will pass the class. She has helped me tremendously when it came to being a better writer.
