If you ever get a chance to take one of his classes you are a very lucky student. I took 4 years of classes at NAU and he was by far the best teacher I have ever had. He's awesome!

Dr. Allred is really the best teacher i've ever had. I was never interested in Biology until I took his class. In fact, I used to dread going to Biology 181 with my old teacher, and I don't even mind now dr allreds 8am class~!!!!

He was a great teacher, but when the exam comes around, you better make sure you memorized a lot of info, since his exams have about 75 questions each.

Professor Allred is FANTASTIC!!!! He is an amazing teacher with an excellent connection to the students! It is apparent that he genuinely cares and wants everyone to learn! I learned a ton!!!

whole class is memorization, but attendance is important since there are random test questions that you would not know if you dont go to class. Exams are about 75 questions each (a lot of memorization)

Is an interesting, amusing guy who does his best to make class interesting. He is genuine and cares about his students and their success. His tests are large and besides a few grade-building group quizes, in class, they're the only grades. He also has anecdotes and interesting examples to simplify things, and offers a break in the middle of class.

Professor Allred is a great lecturer, but he doesn't take crap! Be awake for his lectures his tests are based off of them totally! You can forget about the textbook he will suggest readings but you really don't need to as long as you pay attention. Great teacher.

Dr. Allred is seriously among the best university professors I have ever had. He is hilarious so it makes class enjoyable. I liked how he played music before class. His teaching is effective, and he is really knowledgable about biology, but you have to go to class because the exams are based primarily one the lectures, not the book. Recommended

Dr. Allred is amazingly clever and smart. He is one of the few professors I've had who can manage a 200 student class and still answer all the questions. He is really passionate about his field and helpful.

Dr. Allred is not only a professor, he's a friend and mentor to students. He truly cares about students and their success in courses as well as in life. If you are fortunate enough to enroll in one of his courses, cease the opportunity.

He make it fun. Everything on test are in his lectures so you do not need to read the text book. It is worth the 8am class. You will learn a lot. Not only about Evolution but life in general.

He is an amazing teacher! I learned a lot for the class only being a survey class. He makes it fun and interesting. The lab that goes along with it is horrible...but he has nothing to do with it. take this class!!

Professor Allred is amazing. He has been by far the most interesting biology professor by far (I'm a junior). Be prepared for many stories about squirrels.

I LOVE Allred. He is an amazing teacher. Tough, but totally worth it. He gives you the info you need makes it fun. Hardly uses the book and gives you the information needed to pass the class. He loves squirrels!

I took every class this professor taught because he is just fantastic! He offers BIO 100, 181, 182, 300, 571 and loves them all. He has made major contributions to the school, is a big eco guy and writes children's books! He has an adorable southern accent and funny stories. He's so engaged and brings you in, too.

Awesome teacher. He loves squirrels and must say the word squirrel in every lecture. He makes the class interesting by telling stories that relate to what you are learning at the time. If you take his class for 182, don't bother buying the book it is a waste of money. I didn't use it once and still passed with a high grade.

He is without a doubt one of the best professors I have ever had. I had his class at 8am and it was the only 8am class I could pay attention in.

Dr Allred is hilarious and fair and makes 8 am class easy to go to! Don't bother with the book, show up everyday, WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING, and you will be fine. Its all simple memorization.

This guy knows his stuff. Great teacher. Only complaint is that your grade is based solely on your tests. But the best part about Dr. Allred is that he makes the class personal and is a good man through and through. You learn more than you could ever imagine. It is good to know that there are still teachers out there who care.

I recommend Dr.Allred to everyone that needs to take classes he teaches. Even his 8am class is worth attending. His passion for teaching makes learning like The Magic School Bus. I truly wish he taught all of my classes.

Good teacher. Attendance obviously was not taken due to such a large class size. He does get off on some random topics but they are usually funny stories. The class was easy and was based off lectures. I never read my book and never studied and was able to get a high C in the class

Dr. Allred is an amazing man. Loved his class, love him to death, was nearly in tears at the end of the last lecture I enjoyed it so much.
