Dr.Baer really knows her stuff!! She is quite unique, and her teaching style is as well. If you are interested in poetry, then I would highly recommend this class.

As long as you show up and try your hardest, she'll help you the best that she can.

Dr Baer is a good professor. She teaches you how to write a good essay. I found her to be extremely helpful. I would recommend for anybody to take her.

Great teacher overall. Dr. Baer also a faculty member at Yale. Nice to know we have one "REAL" teacher! Excellent and interesting lectures. I would take her again if she taught accounting classes! lol

overall great teacher. if you don't mind doing homework you will do well in her class. she is very clear on what she wants but still gives a little so you can relate things your own way.

I loved Dr. Baer! She is a marvelous teacher and brings literature to life right before your eyes. She has such a passion for literature and shows her students how to become better writers. How to better express our thoughts/feelings. She keeps her class very interesting, definitely take her if you can!

This teacher is great. She taught me more than I learned in English Comp. 1. She is really down to earth, funny and makes class fun. She's just like one of the student's which is hard to find. I highly recomend taking her class.

I took this class on-line and it was great! Was very easy to understand everything that had to be done. Just hand in all your papers and you'll get an A. I wish all on-line class were this easy and fun. You'll learn alot but it's fun!

She was very nice and always told lots of stories that keep you interested in what she was saying. The tests were easy only two. She has a lot of writing, but she takes your best grades to figure the final average

Best of the English teachers. She really helped me improve my writing skills. Also, I watched The Great Gatsby for the first time in her class. Great classic movie.

I thought her class was really easy. She did expect you to read the stories, but if for some reason you didn't it wasn't a big deal. She only has two tests and a few written papers. She grades fair and i recommend the class.

Dr. Baer is one of the best professors at Gloucester County College. She is always interesting to listen to.

I love this woman. I have her right now for Children's Literature. It's an online course so I've never met her, but even online I can tell she is an awesome person. She has a great personality and is so helpful and encouraging. You can tell she really loves what she is doing and will do anything to help you.

Took the online class. Out of the 6 assignments and 4 essays we turned in, the Dr only graded two, her TA did the rest. We were bombarded with so much info, it seemed overwhelming, so one sentence out of place could drop a 3 pg paper to a B. There were four tests taken literally out of the book. It's an easy A once u get the hang of it.

Intelligent, witty, excellent knowledge of subject matter. Amusing, and very helpful. A lot of reading, several written papers, but nothing obscene. Exams are quotes from the book, so as long as you read the material, you will do well. I am taking her again next semester.

SHe is the only english teacher worth anything at this school. I respect her and like her. SHe has a very cute personality too. I got an A on every essay I turned in, but none of my other classmates did. (My papers were way better, seriously lol)But yes I would certainly take her again.

Definitely the coolest teacher at GCC. She's absolutely amazing. I love her! I'd take her again if I needed any more english courses. She's got a great personality, she's very clever. A great experience if you enjoy eng/lit. :)

I had Dr. Baer back in 1998. She is a great teacher! I finally learned how to write properly from Dr. Baer's English class. I'm doing well now as a working professional and I have Dr. Sylvia Baer to thank! I learned that she also appreciates great blues music! We in South Jersey are very lucky to have Dr. Baer as a teacher. I advise everyone

I had her for Children's Lit, Romantic Era Lit, and Major American Writers. She gave A LOT of work and it was a challenge to get it all done on time, but hey, it's college, aren't we supposed to feel challenged? I think she's the only REAL professor GCC has, at least the only one I've had so far. I actually learned a lot from her.

I'm laughing as I read the comment below- what a piss poor sport. If you think Dr. Baer's unfair, then you did a crap job in her class. I worked hard, and feel a great sense of pride at my grade. I learned more in her class than in most of the other classes I have taken at GCC. She is preparing me for a four year school so I will succeed!

Yeah, there was ton of work, but c'mon, this is college after all. I'm sick of people thinking that a community college isn't "real"- but it's because of lazy students like many of you that the sterotype lives on. Professor Baer is GREAT. She challenges us and actually teaches us.

I took accelerated summer. There is more emphasis on writing papers than learning anything about chil. lit. There are practice tests online from the book----TAKE THEM. they are on the test!! Dr Baer did take meticulous time helping me with my final paper. As an PTK honor student, I was INSULTED that the TA basically gave me an F. He needs to go.

I loved taking Dr. Baer's Romantic Era of American Lit. It was a great English elective to take. You do discussion questions which are easy. They are usually comparisons of various readings to pop culture. You write some essays. She is always there to answer any questions, too. This class is awesome, just like Dr. Baer!!!

Dr. Baer is magic. I love the comments here that rate her poor quality, but say no comment. Pure irony. If you have no comment, then you obviously were asleep in her class. Dr. Baer knows how to write, and she taught me everything I know about writing.

I agree that Dr. Baer dresses like a star, sets high standards to challenge her students to go above and beyond, and is a fair grader. At G.C.C, I'd taken 3 classes with her and (now) as a grad student, I'd gladly take another class with Dr. Baer.

Dr. Baer is smart, sensitive, funny, well-dressed, and most importantly, she is a wonderful teacher. She opens your eyes to the deeper symbolic meaning of stories in literature. She teaches with enthusiasm and a sense of humor, and is always sensitive to each individual in the classroom. It was a pleasure taking her class.

I've never met her because I had her class online, but she is so funny and smart and actually really cares. The people who have negative things to say just didn't work hard enough. She has high standards, but why shouldn't she? she puts so much work into her job and she expects to get that back from her students. I'd take her a million more times!

Excellent professor! She makes every class interesting and has so many good and positive things to say. She's very understanding, communicative, and easy to get along with! Overall a great experience in her class. She uses her sense of humor as an aid in keeping your interest peaked and she knows her stuff. Very smart and well versed. I recommend!

Wonderful teacher! Took her for two classes and it is clear that she cares for every student. Will help you when needed with no problem. Wonderful woman with great stories and easy to understand assignments. The best part is, you can actually tell that she is a human being. Would definitely take her again!

DR Baer is seriously the best professor ive ever had! She is one of those rare, genuine professors that hardly exist anymore. She makes you feel so comfortable in her class, like you are talking to your own mom. If you dont like doing papers dont take this class. Hefty work load, but plenty of time to complete things. Take her, you wont regret it

I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing this professor and class is. The course load is reasonable, and she is a very fair grader when it comes to papers. She also includes great feedback attached to each assignment. If I could, I'd take her again and again. Highly recommend!

I am always nervous when taking online classes however this class is not bad there is just copious amounts of work. Make sure you have plenty of time to spend... the professor must not think you have any other work to do. Must follow the example formats exactly. But very self explanatory and clear.

Definitely one of the best professors I've ever had and looking forward to having her again next semester! Reasonable work load since it was a 200 level class, her lectures were very interesting and entertaining (great sense of humor!). Fair grader and is there for her students. Definitely take her if you have the chance!

I took Dr. Baer for a hybrid course and it was my favorite course of the semester. She made the material interesting and was just an all around great professor. She's very helpful and a fair grader. For every writing assignment she provides a rubric and if you follow the rubric, you will get a good grade.

Dr. Baer is a phenomenal teacher. She's very clear about what is expected of each student, her lectures are deeply engaging, and her undying support helped greatly in getting through the semester. The pool of assignments was fairly large (short papers due almost every class, 3 essays throughout the semester), but all were far from difficult.

Dr. Baer is my favorite teacher yet. Her assignments were enjoyable and made me think, but didn't feel unreasonable or too time-consuming. She teaches this subject in a way that is exciting and makes you love it, because she clearly does. I wish I could take this course with her again, because it was terrific!

Dr. B was great. She was funny and had a good sense of humor. She encouraged deep thought and individuality a lot in class. She assigned A LOT of reading and assignments to go with her readings, and rather than take tests, she assigned a project for each author covered in the semester. She was kind and friendly, and I would take her again.

Take Dr. Baer's class. Do it. She is the best English professor I've had at this school, she is helpful and insightful and she is really passionate about teaching.

Pretty easy online professor but you need to put the work in. There is a paper due each week (ten all together), but they are based on short children's stories so they're not bad. A discussion is also due every two weeks. There are four tests but she gives you a test bank with the answers. Always provides feedback as well.

I took her online class; she is such a nice lady & a great teacher! Grading criteria very clear, online discussions are engaging, and she is very prompt & pleasant in her email responses. You definitely have to stay on top of your work as there are assignments due every week, but I learned a lot from this course and 100% would take it again!

She is not only a very brillant woman but shes a wonderful teacher. She opened my eyes to many interesting subjects and she always has fun little things to do in class. I loved this class the tests were a little hard but she has set grading rubrics for all the papers so its hard to fail, unless you don't do your work and don't come to class

I am a psych major and took her class as a requirement and really wish I needed to take another one her classes! Do your work, read the books! She's great!

Dr. Baer was by far one of the best professors I have ever had. She was always flexible about students turning in their assignments and was very clear about her criteria. She did not give a lot of work and few essays. Her lectures were amazing and she knows English inside and out! I wish I could take her again!

I absolutely adore Dr Baer! She is funny and very kind, highly respectable. Her class requires a lot of reading, but it's children's books so its easy to get through. She gives great feedback on assignments. She also set up her class so that we were done a bit early in the semester, which I liked. She will make you earn your grade but will help you

Romantic lit is easy is if you can get behind the boring work. Homework seems like a lot but its easy if you actually read what she wants. Didnt read any work just looked it up and used the book for quotes. Very easy grader gives 100 on almost everything and two essays which are only 2 pages

She truly cares about her students and their success. Her class was enjoyable, and she wont hold class for any longer than necessary. She's willing to help you with any questions you may have and gives great feedback.

Took Dr Baer for 2 classes (ENG 230+240) this semester and am taking again next semester. All virtual (covid), but still enjoyed the zoom classes. Dr Baer was very engaging and interesting with lots of stories to tell. Lot of reading because literature classes.

This was my third class with Dr. Baer. A lot of assignments, but usually fairly easy to do and easy grading except for the major essays. I always love listening to her lectures, she has a lot of stories to tell and likes engaging with students. Definitely recommend.

Dr. Baer is amazing. Her class is really informative and insightful, and on a personal level she's just a really great person to know. There's a lot of work you have to do in her classes, but it's really just one assignment a week, plus a final paper. You do need the textbook for the beginning of the class and the exams

This professor is so sweet and caring she really cares about her students and her job it shows in everything she does. The classwork is harder than usual, but I wouldn't want any other professor!

Required reading on books. One of my favorite teachers I have had so far. She is very personable and shows she cares about her students and the material she teaches. Essays can be a little tough, but she is always willing to help.

This professor is absolutely amazing. Her grading is so amazing if you put in the effort and turn in your work on time. She really helped me out when taking other classes.

This is a great professor! She is super knowledgeable and enjoys talking about it. She has a lot of assignments but they are super easy. She makes class fun a treats you like a friend. She is funny. SUPER easy A. Just actually do the homework and just by submitting it you get a 100.

Dr. Baer is by far my favorite professor at RCSJ. She cares about her students and is very passionate about what she teaches. She always answered my questions in a timely manner, and even though it was an online class you could really tell that she cared. There was a good amount of reading but it is spread out pretty well. Dr. Baer brought in two gentlemen to play blues music for our class. She is very cool. Today is, June 5th 2022. She had each student say, June 5th. About 25 students. After the 25th, she told out class that we will never forget June 5th as a result of the class repeating the date. This was in 1998! Hope Dr. Baer is doing well! -Nick Cheadle

So so kind! I took her online during covid and adored her. So supportive and understanding of how hard of a time it was for everyone. Cares about her students and wants us to learn. Great feedback and I learned so much. One of my favorite professors ever.
