Good use of technology in the classrom.

Very nice professor. Always willing to help out a student who needs help and lab time is great. Never really went to regular class but did just fine in the class. Textbooks are used VERY frequently. I definitely recommend getting a class with Szymon!

He always seems happy to be in class and seems like he actually likes what he's doing. You receive a lot of homework, but that's just the standard for CIS 150. He's probably the only professor for the subject that actually makes lectures worth going to and he posts videos to help get through the Access projects. Overall, I really liked his class.

He was a great professor overall. He was very one on one with the students. His weekly assignments for the class were set up really nice and easily accessible for the students. He knows his information very well. If you have a choice take his as a professor!

He is the most knowledgable, helpful teacher/professor I have ever had. Keep in mind he is not in control of the number of assignments he has to give out, and he understands it is a lot of work. However, he is great at responding to emails and helping students with their technology frustrations. YOU HAVE TO TAKE HIM!

Where do I start with Mr. Machajewski,well first of all,he's a chill homie. He brings out a nice vibe when you're in his classroom. I mean you will literally earn an A if you put in the effort to do the assign work each week. It's not much work anyways. Other than that, attending his lectures open my eyes to how technology play a role in the world.

This teacher is awesome. Really helpful and cares about if the students understand. I didn't ever go to class but he communicated with me really well through email even though I never came. The only hard part that hurt my grade was the Access part. It's difficult. But other than that really easy.

The class was very straight forward, and he was helpful in the lab time. There were multiple chances for extra credit throughout the course. The assignments were long sometimes, but they were easy

He is a great guy and pretty funny. One time he brought Rock Band into class to demonstrate outputs.. He helps you a lot on the assignments and is very understanding. If you have to take CIS 150, I would recommend him. He makes this class bearable.

Professor Szymon was wonderful. He always had jokes and would keep you up to date with the latest technology. I had him for a 6-9 and we never stayed the entire class period. If I had the opportunity to take a class of his again, I would in a heart beat. Hands down the absolute best professor, that I've encountered.

Great guy. Consistently helping out if you miss any assignments. Just do the stuff and it won't be that bad. Study for tests too, they aren't that bad if you do.

Great Prof who is an easy grader and teaches student a lot

He's a great professor, I really enjoyed taking . I like his in class group activities. He is very entertaining and funny. You'll learn a lot about computers and technology. He's very educated in the subject he teaches. On the other hand the book work sometimes becomes very annoying because it's a lot.

Professor Symon is such a nice guy! He's totally willing to help you understand something you aren't getting and if you miss a couple SAM projects he's really cool about letting you make them up! If you have CIS 150 request him for sure!

Professor Machajewski, is one of the most understanding and nicest professor I have ever had at GVSU. I was working two jobs and he made sure that I could take my exams and made sure that I was keeping up on homework. Always a chance to earn extra credit, or fix errors on homework. Excellent on answering emails right away, one of the best Profs!

Good time and fun in class.

It was a hella lame class, but there are useful bits and Szymon is a super nice guy. Pretty flexible and understanding, plus he's funny and his accent makes him fun to listen to. If I had to take the course again I would try to get it with this guy.

This guy is super nice and a great prof. It is likely you'll get extra credit at some point for in-class activities, so show up for lectures, but his lectures are short and usually pretty interesting so it isn't too bad. There is a good amount of work, but if you follow the instructions and don't leave it all for one day it is really easy.

Absolutely love Szymon. Always helpful and he accepts ALL late work. Quizzes, homework and exams are all online and he posts youtube videos for instructions on almost everything. Easy A.

Szymon is the cutest person you will ever meet. He loves computers so much and is so nice. The class has challenges because it is Microsoft based but he is always willing to help with homework and projects. Quizzes and exams are hard do not underestimate them.

As much as I thought this class was going to be SO boring, it was the complete opposite. He's a great professor and I enjoyed him. Any other professor for this class would be a waste of time. Many weekly assignments but they are not hard at all and are a great chunk (and easy) part of your grade. Highly recommended!

Awesome teacher. Lectures could be boring, but he tried his best to make them fun. Flexible and nice, I missed a couple assignments because I didn't realize they were due and he let me turn them in late for full credit. If you have to take this class take him!

Great Class and awesome teacher.

If there was ever a professor who was fully committed to helping his students out in every way possible, it would be Szymon! This class has a lot of busy work done on your own (though very easy work). As someone who is very forgetful on this type of work, he was always willing to work something out with me to make sure I got everything done!

Machajewski is the definition of awesome professor. He's great and knows his subject like the back of his hand. Lots of busy work, but very easy. Developed an app and if you complete missions you get points that can be used towards your midterm & final. He will even give you points if you buy the class pizza! Definitely recommend this professor!

He is a great prof. So glad I had him for CIS 150. The homework given is not too bad. It took me maybe a total of 2 hours to complete and it is always due on Sunday night. The midterm and final are quite difficult but he gives a lot of different ways to study for them. A pretty easy A when you're willing to do all the homework.

He is a really good teacher, his knowledge of computers and the content is far beyond what he needs to teach this course. He gives a lot of opportunities to succeed in this class!

Really great professor! He goes above and beyond to make sure you have all of the resources to be successful in his class. He even created an app and uses lots of games and online resources to make the class understandable. There is homework but no more or less than any other CIS 150 class. I would take him again in a heartbeat!

Really great Professor. I came in knowing much more than average about computers so it definitely helped me but as long as you are willing to learn you can easily get an A in here. A lot of homework but as long as you keep up and stay organized you can get through it. Great class and would highly recommend Machajewski.

The class should have been easier than it was. Maybe it was just me, but I was so confused as to where to find assignments and when they were due. Every other week I would see a zero in the gradebook for an assignment I would happily have done had I known it was assigned.

Amazing Professor! He cares a lot about his students and puts in a ton of extra time to try and make the course interesting and enjoyable. He really goes out of his way. Best CIS prof at GV.

The assignments given are a lot but they really help with the understanding of the course. You get the same assignments for all CIS150 courses but this guy understands when you miss one and helps you when you are lost.

He is a very kind teacher who wants his students to succeed. He curves a lot of the exams and there is almost always a way to gain some sort of extra credit. I really recommend taking him if this is a required class!

One of my favorite professors I've taken so far at Grand Valley. The material isn't extremely tough, but if you are struggling he will spend extra time to make sure you understand it. Tests aren't that hard and he is also very quick with responding to emails which was nice. I would definitely take him again if I had the chance.

Professor Machajewski is the best computer professor to take if you have to take CIS 150 for your major. I was dreading having to take this class but he made it so easy. There's YouTube videos that explains step by step how to do every assignment. I skipped half the classes but still got a good grade. Lots of outside of class work. Would recommend!

Overall, my favorite professor that I've taken at GVSU. His class isn't very difficult, but he goes the extra mile to make sure you understand it. His exams aren't difficult if you listen to what he says. My only complaint against him is that he doesn't teach more courses.

The class material is not the most exciting, but he keeps it relevant and uses modern and understandable examples. This professor gave out multiple quizzes every week but you get the whole week to get them done. Exams are difficult but you play a game that allows you to gain points to be able to turn in for credit!

There are assignments weekly that do take a good chunck of time to do. Make sure you remember to do them because they do count for a lot of points when they are all added up at the end.

took this class cause i had to, dont have any complaints other than the amount of online work but that has nothing to do with the prof, every class has to do the same amount. Responded to emails within 5-10 minutes everytime, even at 1-2 in the morning, if you take advantage of all the extra credit and makeups you can do its hard not to get an A.

Mr. Machajewski was a great teacher. At times, this class had a lot of studying and homework, but he helps you through. He wants to help the students succeed. A great class to take, and a great professor.

Labs are optional which is awesome. Just make sure you keep track of all the assignments you have to do. He has a game you play all semester. You earn points in the game by completing extra assignments and participating in class. You can use points from the game to either turn in late assignments or for extra credit on exams.

If you do all the assignments and then do the practices before exams and quizzes you will be golden. Longer weekly homework assignments let you know the score and you can correct the mistakes for a 100% every time.

Szymon is by far my favorite prof I've had here at GV. Going into CIS150 I was so scared because everyone told me it was the worse class ever, but Szymon made it so much better than my expectations. He is the sweetest teacher and really wants his students to succeed. His game is a great way to really learn the material. I would 10000000% recommend

Szymon is a really cool dude. He has an app that allows you to get a lot of extra credit or to help if you need to turn in late assignments. His lectures never really feel like class because you're usually playing games or talking about Vikings or something. This class requires a lot of work in lab and for the online homework, but he makes it fun.

Professor will give you great feedback upon request! I highly recommend going to the lab, although they are optional because he provides a lot of guidance. I would take this class again, although it is a lot of side work. I feel this was one of the only classes which will help further provide me with adequate skills in my career!

He is an awesome professor! He relates all of his lectures to everyday life, and if he's not, then he's relating everything to vikings! He's very helpful and kind. Definitely knows what he is talking about. This class isn't just something you won't ever use again. It's very useful for the rest of college and the workplace.

The professor is a great guy. He is extremely understanding and is willing to do anything to make you successful. I highly advise taking notes during his lectures and read and understand the chapters that are assigned. The mid term and final are not easy. Also be sure to do all the work assigned out of class.

Lots of homework and projects, but this is the majority of the grade. So, the class is very do-able!

Szymon is easily one of the best professors i've ever had at GV. He cares so much about his students and is always finding ways to make sure they do their best in the class. He's SO approachable and very understanding. I would definitely recommend taking him as the professor for CIS150! Show up and put in effort and you'll for sure get an A.

Best professor to take for CIS 150 by far! Makes the class enjoyable and sets it up in a way for you to succeed.

Great professor, the class itself is pretty boring but he makes it more fun. Lots of homework but it's easy online stuff.

Do everything you can to take this professor. He is by far one of the best professors I've had at Grand Valley. He is extremely passionate about the material he teaches, and that passions spreads out to the students and makes the class so much more enjoyable. He gives you a good amount of work, but you end up learning the material pretty well.

Lots of work but relatively easy.

Mainly focuses on Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. If you keep up with the online homework, the class is easy.

Machajewski is a great professor who genuinely seems interested in the course material and in his students, too. He is incredibly intelligent as well, and was able to relate class work to other areas of study in an interesting way. I would highly recommend him :)

For this being a class I wasn't really interested in he made it very enjoyable! He is super nice and funny and wants you to succeed! There is a lot of outside work but it is very helpful and allows you to get easy points! I would recommend him!

Szymon is a very unconventional teacher. He makes learning fun and is extremely knowledgeable in Computer Informational Systems. GVSU is lucky to have him.

He's a great professor that will help answer any questions that you have in the class. There is a lot of hw that you will have to do for CIS 150 but nothing that hard plus they are all due on Sunday at midnight. However, if you do the hw and attend the class then its an easy way to get an A.

He's such a great professor. he actually cares about his students and how they do in his class. there are two projects and one quiz each week but everything is online so you can do it on your own time. i'm so glad that I took him and if I had to take this class all over again I would definitely take It with him again. take it with him if you can!!!

Such a kind and caring professor! This class is very easy, but has a lot of work. Several assignments due every week, however they are pretty easy to complete. Szymon also has this game thing that you use to get points and you can use those points to make up late assignments. Makes the dull material as interesting as possible. Take him for cis150

Prof kept the class fun and interesting. We did a lot of interactive games through our phones to practice. The material isn't difficult but there is quite a bit of homework. All of the things you learn in the class are beneficial in the real world.

Lots of homework, but stay with it. Kind of a good thing because you can miss one and it doesn't ruin your grade. Tons of extra credit!!!. Really easy to make up any missed assignments using the extra credit points. Around 3-4 hours of work per week. Put in the effort and it's worth it. Responds to emails really quickly. Great prof.

If you take this class for a requirement, absolutely take him. He is a phenomenal guy with a sense of humor and he makes both exams only 20% of the final grade which is awesome. I would recommend him to anyone.

Awesome teacher, one of my favorites

Best professor I had my freshman year. He went above and beyond in this class. He designed an app for the class to make it more of a game, which made it a lot more engaging and fun. He was inspirational in the sense that he taught us to not be intimidated by computers and to embrace it so that we will be successful in the workplace.

Szymon took extra time out of his day to help each student really learn (and hopefully love) the material. He even helped me with computer and phone trouble! His class is structured according to his philosophy that you learn best when you're having fun, which proved to be true. Assignments can be made up if you procrastinate like me.

One of my favorite profs ive taken so far, its a lot of homework just because you have to practice using Microsoft Word, Access, And Excel, but he does his best to make the class interesting and even made an App Game for the code. i'd take again and recommend to anyone.

This prof. is amazing! He is so funny and makes his lectures interesting. He brings the competitor out in his students. He always has games to be played during his lecture to get through material and it makes the class go by a lot faster.

I wish I could have Szymon for every CIS/MIS class, he's so fun and I actually learned a lot. All of the homework/projects are on Cengage and you basically just learn how to use Word, Excel, and Access if you don't know how to use this already. You play Kahoots every class. He also created this app/game where you can earn points towards XC and etc

Professor Machajewski was phenomenal. He lectures by playing quiz games. He made a boring topic interesting. He taught more than the assign lecture content. Very computer savy. Even had us get up and dance to break up the lecture. GVSU is very lucky to have him on staff. I would take him again in a heartbeat. He made everything a game.

Prof Szymon was awesome! I went into the class dreading it, but it ended up being pretty enjoyable and interesting, mostly because of Szymon. He's a fun guy and really knows his stuff. Just do the work and go to class and you'll get a good grade no problem.

Professor Machajewski is by far the best teacher I've had throughout my college career thus far. He really does care about whether or not you learn, and I'm incredibly grateful to have had the chance to be in his class.

This is not a hard class if you know how to use a computer. Professor Machajewski makes it easier and more fun by allowing you to earn points by participating. With these points you can turn in late assignments and get free points on exams. The homework can sometimes be time consuming, but is not hard at all. Do the homework and you'll get an A

I am a junior at GV and he is one of my favorite professors so far. Even though you can skip, I never want to for this class because it is actually fun to go to (even on Fridays)! Great Professor in many aspects. I was not very computer literate, nor did i typically enjoy computer work, but this class was very eye-opening. Took this course becasue of buisness major, and he really helped teach specific functions within excel and word. Intresting lectures, and he has an incredibly respectful philosophy on education!

Prof M is hands down the best professor I've ever had. He truly cares about the success of his students, and will always crack jokes. His class lectures are absolutely amazing and very informational! If you ever have a question, he WILL answer it. No doubt. As for hw/tests, everything is online and so incredibly easy! He's there 24/7 to help you!

Prof M is a great guy. Lectures are just playing Kahoots everyday and attendance is not mandatory, but if you go to lab he will help you out a TON on the grader projects. The workload is really heavy so prepare to spend at least 4 hours a week on this class. He created his own app for this class and provides a ton of extra credit opportunities.

He is a great professor who really cares about his students. Make sure you get XP points because that will help you on your exam. His assignments were long but well worth doing. Take him you won't regret it.

Professor Machajewski is amazing. He always has a smile and is super knowledgeable. Very approachable and easy to talk to. He really wants you to do well so don't be afraid to ask for help. Go to class and participate in the Kahoots these are basically your test questions for the midterm and final.

Prof M. was super fun to be around and made a very boring class bearable. His tests were hard, but he always curved your exams to help you get better grades! He was a friend to his students and always had our best interests in mind. Would 100% recommend.

He's a great guy and overall the class is really simple. Start the weekly assignments as soon as possible and you'll be set! Out of the three, Excel is definitely the hardest, so make sure you know that information! Also, the midterm and final are bull, try and study your hardest for them but don't worry to much as their both 9% of your grade.

The software exams were difficult because a couple wrong clicks or a misunderstanding of instructions can lose you points on stuff you knew but overall I had fun with this class and Dr. M is a fantasic perfessor.

Dr Machajewski is a young talented professor who will make you learn and understand technology. He uses applications from tweeter, games, kahoot, CIS150 app etc so that you will not only learn but also apply what you learn.

I will say during the course I was sweating thinking about how I was going to pass the class. I'm not the best of students so I knew I had to really grind out the work in the week. I am happy to say in the end I did way better than I ever expected at a full A. Make sure you collaborate with the class as they will be your biggest help. Do all work.

Professor M. is a good guy. Hes very nice and loves what he does. He is very passionate about what he does and if you enjoy what he teaches, like PHP, you are going to love him, and get along with him very well. Even if you don't, he is very easy to get along with and is willing to put in time to meet with you and help you out if you're struggling.

Great professor. Really passionate about web development. The course was pretty fast paced, but he takes the time to help out with assignments if you are having trouble. Exams are tough if you don't keep up with the reading and take notes in class. Easily accessible via Slack outside of class and responds fairly to student grade concerns.

I was pleased with the support by this professor. It really peaked my interest in web development with this class. The content was a lot to take it and Prof. M formulates a way to make a discussion run at a smooth pace. Even for the guys who have not have had much experience has been able to push on to pass the course. Just make sure to study exams

Professor M is very knowledgeable on the subject. In a class that is very difficult and requires a lot of work, he makes the class bearable. Uses Kahoot for lectures, just about every day. If you have to take CIS, Professor M is by far the best person to take.

This professor made my first semester at GV very bearable and I looked forward to attending each class since he made a topic I had no idea about, easy to understand and easy to ask questions and have fun. Dr. M is honestly the best. I was always awake during lectures because we were always doing something interesting. The applications we focused on were difficult at times but he was always available for help if you didnt understand. If you need to take CIS 150 try to have him as a professor.

Such an amazing professor! Really loves the subject he is teaching and is knowledgeable about it. They say the class takes 6 hours of homework every week, but it's more like less than 2. Gives out extra credit, you get to use the book on the final, and for every simulation exam he gives you extra points if you show that you've done your work.

TAKE HIM! This class seems confusing at first, but you'll fine it is clear cut. He truly cares about the students and goes out of his way to make this class as stress free as possible. Do the extra credit labs! He lets you earn points through an app, and you can use the points you earn to complete missing assignments or get points on the final.

I loved Szymon, I never thought that I'm gonna end up loving CIS150. He was my favorite professor this semester and i would gladly take this class again. Would recommend 100%. Amazing guy :) A lot of assignments, but if you do well in those you don't have to study for the midterm or the final.

I really enjoyed having professor machajewski as my cis 150 professor. I learned a great deal about computer programs. Exams dont count as much of your final grade at all. He really cares about his students and is super helpful. I highly recommed him if you are taking any of his classes !! :)

By personality, he always brings up some funny or goofy facts he likes to share, but more importantly he is incredibly kind and always willing to help.
