One of the most interesting people on the campus. Always has interesting info and really cares about his subject.
this guy is great cause caring is the art of sharing and he is a carer heart of gold and hip to boot. does he sing?
Really funny guy. Interesting class. I enjoyed my time in this class a lot.
funny
I've taken two classes with this guy, and they've both been a blast. He grades easy, and he relies on his great ability to lecture to hammer through the material.
Awesome teacher. Very interesting lectures. Very helpful. It's not too hard to get a good grade. If you take his class you will not regret.
A breeze
The best person to take history from. Funny and laid back. knows how hard being a student can be so he doesn't ask for much if you listen to lecture, which are great!
I took this class through distance education. Very interesting class to say the least. He is helpful and an easy grader. I would not recomend the class because the video lectures are quite tedious and most of the info. is not neccessary for the papers.
He is very easy. Hardly any work and he is not strict about due dates. He is funny and entertaining.
Extremely easy! An A with almost no effort. Do good on the quizzes and do the final paper, that's all you gotta do for an A. And I actually learned from him too. He's very entertaining!
I took it through distance ed. It was extremely tedious and boring. In fact, I don't think I watched more than one of the videos and still passed. He's a nice guy though, and enjoys the subject (which is kind of interesting).
Gives excellent lectures. Didn't take attendance. Thank god, it was a 6:30 AM class.
Awesome guy. Interesting lectures, he knows the stuff, wants you to learn and do well in his class. Just pay attention to what he has to say. Take him! :)
Shoot me now. I took this class via distance ed. The tapes were incredibly boring and dry. Luckily, you don't really need them to pass. He's having fun in them but I was bored. I did three papers for an A grade. But, I had to read the tedious books and pull the info from those. Turned me off of distance ed completely. Funy guy in person.
I didn't learn anything
I have taken 2 history classes with perry. I must say that the man knows his stuff and is always wiling to answer questions. Very flexible with making up quizzes and is generous with his grading of essays. Very Good Teacher A++++
Easiest class in the world. Smart teacher. Incredibly leanient. I turned in my midterm the same time i turned in my final with no deduction. His quizzes are simple and to the point & he never took attendance. I rarely went to his classes & i passed with a high B. He was always really into what he was teaching too, i dont think ive ever had a teacher like that. He was cool too. He told my class many times that we should all watch "Dazed & Confused". In fact, i think they watched it on t
I didn't learn much, but i only need classes to pass certain things. Best class I've ever taken. This is the type of class to take to easily pass and not have to really show up to. Great guy, funny and take it if your other classes are a load
Teacher is easy, put asks some work be done. Quizes are easy, mostly open book. Learned alot...Funny and high energy
easiest teacher in the world. not hard to get an A, didn't learn a thing. 10 open book quizzes, you drop 2, midterm and final are take home. He's even tell you most of the answers on tests. best teacher ever. definately take perry.
Very easy teacher, gives away answers, has a grading scale that looks freaky (94 is a B+, 98 or above for A), but his quizes are a breaze. Didn't read chapters, didn't study, getting an A. If you are really interested in history take someone else, otherwise take "T.P." for easy credit. By the way he's sick and misses class like 8 times a quarter.
LOVE HIM! hes so funny, cutest teacher ever!Good class too, you actually do learn even if u go once a week
GREATEST HISTORY TEACHER! Easiest A!!! If you are lucky enough to get into his class, take it! He's funnier than anything, tests are easy and mid term and final are take home! Don't read the book but bring it for all tests which are open book! Test answers are given while you take it! You watch a lot of movies but learn too! Almost a guaranteed A!
An awesome teacher. He's really funny and his tests are pretty easy if you just study the materials he gives you. If you have to take history, take it with him. You won't regret it.
Denfinately recommended! He is a great history teacher and makes history interesting. :) The videos shown in class aren't even that boring. He's an easy grader though and has a great attitude about class!
I absolutely hate history. But taking it with Perry wasn't bad at all. He's a cool guy. His lectures were quite boring so be prepared! The videos shown in class were very interesting. I liked them a lot. If you need to fulfill a history requirement, I would highly recommend Perry. Easy grader and very laid back!
This is one of the funniest teachers at BCC.
This class is BORING! It takes a 98 to get an A--but don't let that scare you! Prof. Perry is pretty lenient and it doesn't take much to get that 98!
Mr. Perry is an awesome instructor. He knows a lot about a lot of things, which makes every lecture entertaining. He is very enthusiastic about the topics and the class isnt hard. Map quizzes or book quizzes once a week- real understandable. Attendence only important on quiz days (Friday). You will enjoy this for sure!
I love his class ! The coolest professor at BCC !
A strange class. Very informal, tendency to get off track. Perry's grading system is weird, and though the class was a good history overview, I learned more by reading the textbook. Though attendance is optional, go to class, in case he passes out a "bonus word" for extra credit on the quizzes (which range from easy to HARD)
I took him for history 202/203. He is my favorite teacher at BCC! Awesome teacher! You will learn a lot in his classes and if you put in some work you can for sure get an A in his class. Great teacher!
I recoomend taking this professor if you just need the credits. He is very learned in the subject and can keep the class interesting with movies and pictures. The class was easy with a test each Friday (rotation between written and map (book allowed to use on written)).
The class was great because you didn't have to try hard in order to get a good grade. Showing up every Friday and taking the test was all that was needed in order for someone to get an A.
I took Pacific Northwest History telecourse, very good class. The class was very informative, and as long as you watch the videos you will do well. Only 3 exams, 2 essay questions each, done at home, are required for the class. As long as you know somewhat what you are talking about, you will get an A. He is an easy grader. Enjoyed the class.
Perry is a wonderful professor! Not only does he make learning interesting with his stories and movies, but he is also very lenient when it comes to the final and midterm due dates. Funny man, and no homework! Doesn't get much better, right?!
Very enjoyable class!!!
He was the best teacher. Let us have open book tests (you need to read the chapters and mark pages)the map tests are ok as long as you do your work. Tests are on Fridays. make sure you do your work and you will do well.
Second class with him and he's still great! He knows more than an encyclopedia. Is forgiving and wants his students to get good grades. Take him if you need the credit, you won't regret it.
T.P. is kinda scary looking. He looks like hes on drugs or something but dont let that scare you cuz Perry is the man! This guy is awesome. You'll find out what I mean :)If u go to class u get what he calls bonus words or extra credit. His map quizzes are hella easy but his textbook quizees are kinda hard but dont worry u drop two of them
Great Teacher!
Dull. Lectures do not follow any sort of understandable format. Unreasonably long reading assignments from a dull textbook. Map quizzes extreemely easy. Relatively easy A if you just need to get history out of the way. If you liked history, this class will probably ruin it.
Perry is intimidating I must say, and he yells a lot in lectures, and is pretty opinionated. But he's cool don't worry. Easy A class. I never read the textbook, and only opened my map book to study for the maps. Got 100% on all of those quizzes. Can skip class if you want (I did). Midterm and Final is HARD, but I pulled through. Take him :)
Not useful, but fun. The guy comes in in flip sandles every day. Enough said. If you're too serious, don't take his class, but if you're looking to learn some stuff, get your history requirements out of the way, he's for you.
All you have to do is show up to class if you want to get bonus (extra credit for the quiz) words, sit back, and relax. His lectures go through a lot of useful things, clear explanations..writes random words on the board from time to time and explains them. He's a cool guy, makes you chuckle. Don't hesitate taking a class with him. Def worth it!
Mr. Perry is a very easy teacher! He's funny and very low stress. If you want a guaranteed A in History, take it with him, and no one else! He has bonus words, has you watch movies in class, has open book or take home tests...need I say more? Study for map quizzes though. Because he truly loves and knows History, you will learn a few things too.
He is a really easy history teacher for a subject that is really monotonous and always the same every day. His quizzes are relatively easy if you do extra credits, but his midterm is pretty hard. Definitely take him if you need to take this class! :)
His class was extremely easy. Just pay attention to the bonus words, watch the videos during class and read the books. On five of the exams, you'll be able to use notes and the mid-final & final are take home. The final is freaking hard. But that balances out the easier stuff from before. He's definitely there for you so don't be afraid to get help
did not learn a thing, have to read 5 books which is a total of maybe 1000 pages throughout the quarter. midterm is doable w/o reading first 2 or 3 novels, but the final is unbearable regardless. TP is aight, i would never take a history class at this college ever again despite who's teaching
Best teacher I have ever had hands down, I put my honor and reputation on it. You will learn tons about history be entertained and with reasonable effort pull off an A. Quizes open book, exames are take home. Anybody who said his exames are hard is a moron. These exames would be kinda hard if they were in class but THEY ARE TAKE HOME! Best ever
Very entertaining. Relatively easy if you know what you're writing about on the take home mid-term and final exams (I took notes during lectures which helped on my final). Took him for 101,102,and 103 and would highly recommend his class.
I didnt read any of the 5 books we "read" and got an A. He was sick a lot for winter quarter so he let us leave early and changed a lot around. The midterm and final are both take home and are not hard at all compared to other history classes. There is a quiz for every book with 1 taken off, open note + book! Attendance isnt mandatory! Take this!
omg painfully easy. i didn't even open the book on our last exam and got over 100%...attendance isn't mandatory. take him for an easy A. however, although he's easy i have alot of respect for him because i'm pretty sure he knows everything there is to know about history and he's passionate about it. that's commendable.
Hate history with a passion. Loved taking his class. Easy A and never listened. Get the bonus words and quiz topics. I promise you an A. The only thing I spent more than ten minutes on for his class was the final. Everything else, including his quizzes, took me no time and I got over 100%.
If you want to take history, I would recommend this class. He's a good teacher.
Rally easy class & I took it in the summer. He's fun to listen to, & knows what he's talking about. What he says in class is not on any quizzes or exams. 1 quiz/book and 1 gets dropped and the midterm & final are take home. Not to mention you get the topics to the quizzes and exams well in advance. Take him if you want to have fun & get an easy A.
I had to take Pacific NW History as a grad requirement for highschool. This class was a video class. Super easy. I would recommend renting the set of videos for the whole quarter. i only came in one day, had to send in the essay tests (open book) three times, and that was all there was to the class. would recommend. easy history credits.
Extreamly easy class. Perry is an awsome teacher. Never liked history in my life, took him summer quarter and i'm taking him again for another history class. Quezes are open book, open notes, mid/final take home. I didn't even open the book once and got over 100% in the class. Easy A+++
A nice guy who knows a lot about history, but his lectures are hard to follow sometimes because they can be unorganized. He touches on many of topics, but never thoroughly explains any of them. We watched numerous films in class which was boring at times. His class is relatively easy, but getting an "A" requires a 98%.
Though he seemed a little brash in person, he was actually kind of nice. I had to rush my last papers, and my final paper was absolutely terrible, BUT at the end of quarter I received an A grade. If you make an effort, you should do great. He appears to be an easy grader, but don't get lazy. Keep up with the videos and turn in the exams on time.
Extremely easy, however, his lectures are boring.
I have taken him twice, the 2nd time he became much harder than he used to be. He must have gotten in trouble. I got a B+ instead of A like last time. Midterm has 4 questions now instead of 2. Final is much more detailed and serious than before. Exams are the same. Doing bad on the midterm or final can ruin your grade. Still the best hist. teacher.
Very cool teacher with good sense of humor. I loved going to his class! The movies he shows can be boring. He is a pretty easy grader, as long as you do your work you should be fine! Perry is absolutely the BEST teacher at BCC.
What a character! Dry sense of humor; I'd vote him as teacher I'd most like to have a beer with. Note: He does not do online classes and prefers everything old school; read the books/watch the videos and write 3 papers given in advance that's all. With questions in advance you can skip a lot of the material. His passion for the topic comes thru.
As others have said, his tests are easy. The videos are kinda boring but have a ton of good info, and he really knows his stuff. His lectures are great. You can breeze through the class, but if you pay attention you will learn a ton. I really enjoyed him even though he seems a bit crazy.
The nicest coolest best teacher at bellevue college, test are too easy. I got a B+ in his class without doing anything.
Very knowledgeable. Been teaching since history was invented. Good lectures. Lots of reading out of class, but tests are open book. I would take him again anytime.
By far the EASIEST instructor EVER. We wrote three essays in total, and I don't think he even read mine. He is very knowledgeable and knows his history. Take him for an Easy A.
learned alot from this class. Great prof!
Greatest teacher ever. If you do the work he will reward you. Lectures are a blast and he is always a happy. Enjoys his job even after 49 years. Go Perry!
He's got a great sense of humor, enjoys teaching, and knows his stuff. It's fun being in his class. I'd definitely take another of his classes if I had the time.
Excellent Professor - he is extremely knowledgeable & presents information in an objective format - this is my 2nd class with him - Mid-Term Paper-Final Paper & 5 quizzes, drops 1 quiz- Several short books for the course but these books provide excellent info on history - attendance is not mandatory but you'll learn so much more if you attend!
Excellent Professor who is very knowledgeable & presents info in a objective format - 2nd class with him - Midterm paper, final paper, 5 quizzes but he drops one - uses several excellent books on American History - attendance is not mandatory but you'll learn so much more by going to class and listening to his lectures!
GREAT teacher, makes it all interesting. Love the energy. You can tell he loves his subject and his students!
Great history class. Not so much because of the class subject, but because of Perry!
This teacher is absolutely amazing! He is so interesting, he makes his lectures very interesting--even to people who used to think history is boring. I loved his class, its one of my favorite classes ever! Do not miss his class. TAKE HIM, you will not regret it!
Excellent instructor-extremely knowledgeable-lots of reading but they are from books that cover history objectively-5 quizzes-he drops 1-Mid-term & Final Papers-Perry is just a great person to learn history from-makes it interesting -work hard & follow syllabus
Awesome Professor-enjoys teaching, he does a great job of lecturing-the only reason to go to his class is to listen to him lecture-great class- you'll learn history objectively and remember a lot of information
Really easy teacher, doesn't take attendance.BUT midterm and final are kind of based on the things he talks about in class & the videos you watch. The Final is also based on one of the books you have to read. Took his class in the morning, might have to do with me not being too interested in his lectures.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. I usually don't enjoy lectures, but I can listen to this guy. He's very helpful and to not pass this class means you really didn't want to because he makes everything very clear. I would love to have another class with him.
Professor Perry is a great instructor & an excellent historian- he knows his history - Great Lecturer - For quizzes, read the assigned books & attend class lectures you should do fine - Class attendance is not mandatory but the mid-term and final exam require info from class lecture - Take this class if you want to know & learn about History!
Look EXACTLY like jigsaw from the SAW horror series. Each test is based on a book you read every 1.5-2 weeks. Each test is open book and each book has an index so the reading isn't mandatory. Mid-term/final are take home so you can use whatever resource necessary. Lectures/videos can get boring at times, but Perry is one of the best @ BC.
Super easy teacher. Grade only depends on tests and quizzes. Don't even need to show up to class to get an A. Gives ALOT of chances for extra credit. When you write an essay, you pretty much get an A just for doing it.
Extremely easy teacher. If you have chance to get him, do it. Not only is your grad only depended on your test and quizzes, but his lectures are somewhat interesting.
His class is an easy A. But he knows his history inside out. His A is a 98% but his test are open book. If you attend class (to get extra credit -it's not mandatory), its easy. His class is pretty awesome.
Hands down the best history teacher at Bellevue. His lectures are great and I hated missing them on days I wasn't in class. Tests are all open "book"-he doesn't use conventional textbooks-and he is a fair grader. Attendance isn't mandatory but when the class is this good, you won't want to miss.
The class was pretty easy. It's a distance course so you watch his show at home 4 times a week all quarter. There are 3 tests (including final) which consist of two essays of about 1 1/2 in length each. I had to pull a lot of info from the main book he provides. YOU DO NOT NEED the book "Salmon without Rivers". He doesn't require you to read it.
Easy as it gets. An A is 98% or higher, and it comes with extreme ease. That should say something. A good class to balance out 2 harder classes.
This guy is IT! Am in class currently. Super laid back, doesnt teach based on dates, wants you to learn the concepts. Which is great because the when doesn't matter nearly as much as the how or why. Great story teller. Favorite prof EVER. He's an analogue man in a digital age so media is a bit dry, but he is not. I don't want to miss a class....
I'm not a history teacher, but I really enjoyed Perry's history class. Lectures and really interesting, and you get extra credit on the quizzes for going to class every day. You have LOTS of reading to do with this class, we read 6 books throughout the quarter. Great teacher, but might be too easy for History majors.
Perry is simply the best, I feel sorry for those whose college tenure doesn't include a class taught by the man himself.
I personally hate history, I find it rather boring and useless. Perry is possibly the most laidback, chill teacher who is very knowledgeable about history and loves to talk as well. His tests are really easy. Open Book. Midterms and Finals are really easy as well. Attendence is not even required! Even if you skip everyday you'll get an A, its EASY!
The easy "A" is just a bonus. This instructor is interesting, engaging, friendly and drop-dead hilarious even at 6:30 in the morning. I learned a ridiculous amount of facts in his classes and I was never bored.
Oh my god, this teacher was just about the easiest teacher I've ever had. Although he is a bit old and loosing his mind a little bit, he is still a really nice teacher who doesn't expect that much. Not only is there 30 really easy extra credit points on every quiz, I only read like 1/4 of the book, which was a bit useless, and I got 130% on my quiz. Definitely take Perry. Best history teacher ever. Oh and his lectures are not very useful but you must go for the magic words (extra credit)!!!

He was seriously the easiest teacher ever! We had to read a 200-300 page book every 2 weeks, but our quizzes were open book and our tests (midterm and final) were take-home. EASY A! He was also super funny!
He always has a way to explain a concept in a fashion that is not only incredibly precise, but is entertaining and makes sense to the casual citizen. That takes talent, real talent. Even though he is an easy grader, he covers a lot of facts in his class and it's VERY enriching! LOVE this teacher!
He is super funny and makes class very enjoyable. Make sure you read the books and you are golden. Doesn't take attendance, or test you on lectures. Gives a lot of extra credit but only if you go to class. Toke the 6:30 am, and was by far the best choice ever!
Cool teacher, easy class, and he made history class enjoyable. He doesn't take attendance, and the only quizzes you have are on your books. Quizzes aren't bad, and he gives tons of extra credit. His lectures were pretty interesting too, and overall it was an enjoyable class and I'm glad I took it with Perry.
I took Tp Perry for credit. You can get away in this class by just reading the five textbooks he assigns to you, but if you go to class he sometimes gives out words to use for extra credit on quizzes. His lectures are alright, but it's hard to stay awake at 630 AM. Both the midterm and final are take home essays. Great guy, I recommend 11/10
Simple course, lecture everyday, old school style. Open book quizzes, plenty of extra credit offered. Fives quizzes, a simple take home midterm and take home final. Drops the lowest quiz score. Lectures include stories, jokes, humors, and sometimes reference to songs. 6:30am class a burden, but Perry is always up and energetic for the material.
Thornton Perry is seriously one of the funniest, coolest old guys ever! He really makes history fun and interesting! He's a fantastic teacher that really knows what he's talking about! The tests are mostly essays, so you really need to either read the assigned readings well or know how to search an index. Get ready to write a lot of short essays.
Actually the easiest teacher you will ever take. 5 quizes (loest dropped) a midterm take home essay and a final take home essay. All the quizzes are based on a book you have to read in 2 weeks. But you don't even have to read it because you can just sit in the back and google the test questions. If you can take this with a friend just alternatedays
You have to read a couple of books, and the tests are open book. VERY lecture heavy, and he shows you a 20-40 minutes video about the history the class is learning about. I kept falling asleep during his lectures, I now know lecture classes aren't for me. But overall, it's a good class.
Very cool teacher. Super easy A in this class. He requires you read 5 books and the quizzes on them are open book-you don't even necessarily have to read the books you can just google the answers because he gives you the topics. Attendance not mandatory.
Honestly one of the most dedicated professors at BC. His lectures go in-depth and is very interesting to hear about what he has to say. He is very well organized and prepared before every lecture and is clear on what students should be doing. His grading criteria are very fair and he also provides extra credit if you answer correctly.
A very thoughtful and caring professor. He grades very lightly and gives good feedback. I really respect this man. The only things in the grade book are the 5 quizzes and the final. You can skip one of the quizzes. Easy grader.
This course was clearly outlined. Just 5 quizzes for the whole class. It is a ton of reading though, but you really learn the material. Prof Perry was enthusiastic and involved with the material. I was successful in this course and would take another of his classes.
5 'quizzes' (more like essays) throughout the quarter. Read a textbook and select four out of seven questions to answer, each question should be around 250 words. Easy grader and the content was not hard to grasp. I would take another of his classes.
Must read books. U can do last minute and get 100%, but not recommended. Essay doesn't have to be like a good english essay, just show understanding and use evidence from books. Easy grading.
