Teaches part-time and graduate courses, but occassionaly in summer will teach macro or micro. Very easy, laid back, student oriented professor. Also very funny. You'll atleast get a B without trying.

Great teacher, funny and interesting.Follow his notes and know how to do the problems inside out. He makes calculus methods seem easy,so hear him out when he prefers to teach calculus methods.
Insulting and his class was a waste of time.
FUNNY GUY, WILL EXPLAIN THINGS A MILLION TIMES UNTIL U UNDERSTAND IT...VERY HELPFULL..ABIT BORING BUT AN EASY 'B'...OR 'A' IF U ACTUALLY TRY
He's very funny guy and he's class is very easy. Easy A.
I think he is a easy going professor.
Really easy going... okay grader, tests are pretty easy, very funny... if Sherman's class is closed, take this guy.
RaminTTT RULES like a Persian king! You will not be disappointed in his class. He is very funny and very easy going. Take this guy for all your economic classes if you can! GO RAMIN!
I took him last summer, and he was very easy going prof. While struggling for Physics at the same time, I couldn't look at any material related to his class, but I easily got A, just by listening to his lecture. The Best!
Ramin's a good guy with a straight-forward teaching method. funny
At first I didn't like him but as semester went on I got used to his very "easy" style. All you had to know was material from class. Tests were very easy and he didnt expect much of you. Not a good class if you want to learn but definetily go
Condescending. That pretty much says it all.
Easy exams; explainations of materials are crystal clear. Overall he was great.
Cant understand him most of the time
Clear, concise, effective and gives great realistic examples.
only a student brown-nosing the "persian king" would like him. condescending and painful to tolerate. Lousy professor. Baruch should do better. It's not like there is a world shortage of econ Ph.D.s
Not so great. Curves alot. However, doesn't teach alot. good luck with this one!
Teaches straight from the book. Presentation is not good; hard to understand what he's trying to convey. Exams are not so hard; straight from the professor's edition. You have to study a lot on your own. Does give a curve to the final grade. 4 exams and an xtra credit assignment (optional).
Intersession: Great teacher but too much material to be covered in short semester. Interesting dramatic teaching style, straightforward & not confusing. Some may have trouble with accent but not as bad as other profs. Take good notes. Did not review a lot for exams. Still baffled as to his bckgrnd..
DOn't take his class if you want to learn. Total waste of your time to take his class, learn nothing about economic this semester, Spring 05
easy! tells you only what is on test took him during Jan. take him. very easy clear and dont learn a lot about ECo good if your not intrested in ECO

excellent professor. actually one of the best at baruch. he really wants you to learn and understand the stuff. don't understand the negative comments. but i really learned from his deep lectures. he is funny and knows his stuff (phd from nyu). very stimulating class. his tests are fair. all from the textbook. he's the best, much props and kudos.
This man has such a strong accent it is hard to understand what he is saying 99% of the times. An awful teacher how tries with his weird sense of humor to divert the attention from his unclear teaching
You don't have to come to the class once, only for midterms and finals. But if you come he will give you some points towards the final grade. Midterms were easy, the final was hard. His classes are interesting. Don't talk with your friends during class because he will go nuts on you.
Horrible horrible teacher. Was totally unclear, unhelpful, graded very strict which is fine if you actually TEACH. But if you don't teach anything and are not helpful, you should really give a curve. I have all A's and B's in my classes, his is the only one in more than two years where I received a C.
All test information is covered in lecture. Just go to class and take good notes. He is a cool guy. Opens your mind.
Class not very difficult, lectures not always very clear, need to read the book. Midterm very easy, Final very tricky.
Midterm easy, final tricky. Though he is one of the most involved professors that I have seen at Baruch. I genuinely enjoyed classes and learned a lot despite my low grade.
Midterm easy, departmental final VERY tricky....Studied my ass off to wind up with a B....Midterm, got a 100....The prof's cool.....Have to adjust to him....
He is funny and gave easy examples to explain. Midterm is easy as many students said, final is also same, if you listen his lecture carefully, not that tricky.
The book is not necessary, but it did clear up things I didn't understand in class. Nice man; just do what he asks, which is little, and study for the two exams.
He's one of the nicest Professor I ever had at Baruch. He always encourages you to ask question if you don't understand something. If you want an extension on the final paper he will most likely give it to you. Very helpful and nice Prof!
Aweful! He gave me a B. I havent gotten a B since freshman year. He is nice, but unclear. He assigned 10 chapters for the final and there were other chapters in the final that he didnt even told us about. The exam was mad hard. Horrible teacher.
This prof is a joke. You "know what I'm talking". Communication is horrible and if he knows the subject he certainly doesn't convey same. Midterm/Final are difficult multiple choice as answers are tricky and close to each other. See if there is another prof to take as he is a waste of time.
The prof himself is a nice person but he doesn't really teach anything. Midterm was easy but final was tricky and not even close to the midterm. There were loads of stuff on the final which he didn't talk about in the class.
The goal is for majority of the class to get Bs, having that in mind. Midterm easy but Final covered at least 1/4 of what he has never taught in the class. Didn't even mention those will be on the final else i would spent time read on my own.
I do not recommend taking this professor. He makes it seem like his class is easy, but I know most students received B's. His midterm is a slightly easy with 40 MC questions, but he will kill you with the final. Even if you studied hard, it wont be worth it.
Didn't understand much coming from his lectures, but took most of the class in undergrad, so much more of a review. Some in class found it difficult, so if you are not familiar with the subject matter, I would be careful.
Despite a lot of negative comments that I read on this site about him, he is a fair professor. Just read the book with chapters that he teaches in class and take good notes. Tests should not be a problem if you study. I found both tests to be almost the same level of difficulty. The final is slightly harder.
He curves nicely, and allows you to miss the midterm by taking 10% off your final grade. Attendance isn't mandatory. I got an A just reading the book. Easy midterm, little harder final. Definitely recommended!

Took micro during Jan session, so was insane. Given the constraints, I think he did a great job. He is methodical and makes sure students understand. Multiple choice tests seem easy but they're very tricky. Book helps to reinforce lectures. He's fair.
Took him during a 4 hour Sat class. The timing was torture, but he kept my interset as much as possible. I definitely recommend him. Dont need the text book, but I bought the workbook to use the review problems to study. His exams were straight from his notes.
A great guy, who wants you to understand the work. Grading is fair but by the book. A little work on your part and you are likely to walk away with a B+ or even an A-
I had him for both, Macro and Micro. He is a very good professor and explains everything in great detail. As a grader, he does not curve at all. Midterms are fair, but the finals are very hard. Take him if you really want to learn the subject!
Had him for Macro & Micro. Sat. format didn't work for me: I felt I couldn't digest these courses in 7-8 intensive sessions. I find it distracting when professors don't know English grammar, too. Take a regular hour class instead. If you have no choice, study his graphs well for tests. I didn't like that he didn't seem to punish cheaters.
I had him for both, Macro and Micro. He is a very nice person and a good, responsible professor. Explains everything in great detail. He is fair, but the finals are very hard. Just stick with his notes, no need to study with the book for Micro. For macro, book is helpful to clearify some points. You will really learn the subject.
his midterm was easy but the final was hard. it was a killer to my grade. no curves or anything. he tricks people by saying that his tests are easy. no way possible was it easY!!!!!
He is a nice guy, class is simple and organized, but like people said, the tests are tricky. Class is cumulative, so final can be a real ****. I got B's in both of his classes, and studied quite a bit.
Excellent teacher, interesting lectures and welcoming approach
Exciting teacher, recommend. Midterm and final no hw, attendance, quizzes or projects. Tests are hard multiple choice questions based on notes.
Ramin is a great professor. His exams are directly from the lecture. Your grade is based on one midterm and a final but as long as you paid attention in class you are fine. The textbook was only good for reviewing what he said. I absolutely recommend him for Micro.
Good teacher. You must come to every class, not because it's mandatory but because you have to write down everything he says and every graph or chart he puts up. Take good notes and use the book for reference. Mid term is easy but Final is a mother!!
If you have basic understanding of Macro, he is really easy. He rattles off definitions without really going into theory so any outside knowledge of economics helps. The book is not necessary unless you need clarifications but good notes are a must. Got a B+ without any studying.
The professor is very easy. Didnt go too deep about econ but this is wut you expect from an introductory class. Only need the book if you don't understand wut he teaches. I didnt read the book only the notes once and took the exam. Ended up with an A. Good notes are essential!
Very good professor with a passion for Economics. Will definitely take him again when I start my major requirements next year. Pay very close attention in class and take good notes. You'll also need to buy the textbook and take good from it as well. Tests are hard if you haven't developed a good understanding of the concepts he's trying to teach.
Great professor, very funny. Tests are stricly from his notes so make sure you come to class or get the notes from someone. The book is helpful but only to review what he talked about in class. Best economics teacher I've had so far. If you can take him for both macro and micro do it!
Professor knows how to TEACH - which I love. If I had to take another econ class, I would take him. He doesn't expect you to do all the reading in advance and just come to class for questions. He is not animated or overly engaging, but I like his controlled style. Take good notes and be careful for somewhat tricky questions on his 2 exams.
Very straightforward class -- attend regularly, take good notes, review them, and use the book to fill any gaps. No group projects or other, similar wastes of time. Of the three professors I've had at Baruch so far, Ramin was definitely the best.
Easy A. Teaches well.
Class was pretty easy. Just 1 midterm & 1 final (all material from textbook-you can probably pass the exams just reading the textbooks, no need to go to class). Helpful with questions when needed. He works part time at the school, so he is not easily accessible outside of class.
Don't take him if you have a choice. Doesn't care about anything. 1 midterm & 1 final, both MC. Don't need text book if you attend class. Exams are tricky.
I took him for both Micro and Macro. I would recommend getting the book for Micro because the final was much harder than the Macro one. He's a little bit hard to hear so try to pay attention. Everything he says and writes is on the exams.
Great Professor. Actually teaches the material...uses the blackboard a lot. I should've taken him for ECO9708 as well. No need for book if you attend class and take notes. All exams are not tricky at all. Just study the notes.
the only negative is that he has difficulty speaking clearly - almost like he has a constant sore throat. But ALL his tests are extremely fair - straight from the notes.
Good choice. Knowledgeable, passionate, fair. Always ready to answer questions. Overall engaging and funny, occasionally irritable but no biggie. 40% midterm, 60% final, multiple choice. Formulas not complex but must be memorized and practiced. 1st derivatives is all the calc you need. Subject gives you vital concepts for finance and marketing.
Dont take him if you have a choice. His tests are inconsistant. The questions will either be ridiculously easy or really hard. No middle ground. You will not learn much regardless of your grade. He is not a good teacher.
His grading is very arbitrary, one midterm and final. A lot of the test questions are not covered in his class. You need to read the book even though he barely discusses the book. It is definitely not an easy A or A- like past students mentioned. Be forewarned!
He comes to class unprepared, and puts little to no effort into the class. The tests are difficult and he doesn?t show what the class average is so you don?t know how you did in relation to your peers. I?ve taken 10 classes to date and he?s the worst professor so far. He don?t really explain how the material is going to be tested.
Makes Econ simple. Take really good notes and study them and you'll do fine. I only recall 3 or 4 questions not being directly from the notes.
Really knows his stuff. He can be a little hard to understand but he really makes an effort to make sure everyone learns the material. Tests are based on the book and notes, but I only went to half the classes and got a b+ just reading the book
The professor tries to explain everything in a clear manner. The grade composition is 50% midterm and 50% final. So if you screw up on either one of them you'll end up with a not so good grade. Final was difficult, some of the questions made no sense even though I attended all classes & did well on the midterm. Did not curve the midterm.
I really enjoyed Prof. Ramin class. He cares about students learning and is helpful when you have questions. I really recommend taking the course with him. Took Macro with another professor and regretted it.
not that hard, but need to write down all he says, and understand his lecture notes. The book is very tedious, you don't need to read it. we just downloaded the slides from internet.
Didn''t even read the textbook before the final. Write down everything he says, then study it. Tests are straight-forward from the notes and the problems he does in class, no tricks.
Good professor but 60% of your grade is based on the final (40% is the midterm) which is ridiculous. Many people aced the midterm and did poorly on the final and their GPAs suffered as a result. Still, a better professor than others by a long shot.
the best professor. Highly recommend him. He makes complicated things simple. You don't have to read the textbook which is lengthy and sometimes confusing. Just study his notes and understand his lecture, you will get an A.
Summer session Cons: barely audible, teaches the subject and not the test questions will trip you up. Pros: the entire course is a rehash & review of macro intro & intermediate. 2 out of 3 quizes & 2 midterms with optional final. Take all macros consecutively & you'll be fine with this prof though he does not curve.
Great professor! He teaches the material very well and will take time to go over anything you're confused about as many times as you need him to. Attendance isn't mandatory but I recommend you go to his lectures and take good notes. You don't need to buy and read the the textbook to pass his exams if you have sufficient notes. Take him!
Take him! He explains very well each concept and takes time to answer questions. Doesn't take attendance. You don't even have to buy the book. Midterm & final are easy to ace, he allows you to use an index card with formulas during the exam. He's an easy grader on your research paper & presentation (which is done in groups). Take him!
If you attend class, you should be able to easily pass the exams. If you don't attend class, find out the topics covered and the book will tell you all you need to know. No curveballs, just straightforward material. You either know it or you don't.
He's the guy to take for macromicro. class is a breeze if you listen carefully, take good notes, and keep up with the material because tests are very straight forward. Humble and modest, but has a strong authority on the subject and can be pretty funny. ONLY issue is his vocal cords are going so you really have to pay attention to hear him right.
Lectures are very important and tests come directly from them. Great teacher and very into the subject matter. Unfortunately he does not give any practice questions before the exams so you feel like you are going into them blind. I had a hard time but still thought he was excellent.
Easy class. Go to lecture and take notes. One paper mandated by the department. Book is not needed. Very hard to not get an A in his class. Hard to hear him because he has a really low and coarse voice.
