One of the best professors I've ever had.
Hes smart, but a bad professor...plays favorites
His lectures are very boring and his exams are hard.
great class, pretty hard...good teacher
boring, boring, boring

econ: "if u don't get it, u don't get it", assumed everyone understood
He's soooo boring and his exams are ridiculously hard!!!
Worst professor at JMU, doesn't take questions, 80% of class will fail tests
helpful if you ask him, lets you bring a notecard to test
No Comments
Very good teacher-funny-makes class interesting! test are okay-do the reviews
Hard class! Knows what he's saying...economics is tough...go to review sessions!
He's one of the best professor's I've had... gives very helpful review sheets
Cool guy...very hard class. Dont take macro unless u have to.
Difficult. You can udnerstand what is taught in class. tests=rough gibberish
ask him ?'s you have about the review sheet. read his answers to others' &#
great teacher, goes at a fast pace and tests are kinda hard
Awesome guy. Recomended. Willing to help!
An excellent teacher. . . incredibly smart. . . very helpful and interesting
I would recommend him to anyone, study guides, note cards on tests etc!
HARD ASS HELL.... understand what you do in class, but not on tests... NO SENCE
An amazing teacher... has some great stories too, just study you butt off 4 test
Impossible. Went to every class and didnt learn anything

HARD, Class is like the teacher from Farris Bulear. BORING
very organized lectures. study, tests are hard. excellent prof, diffucult cours
Made economics understandable to someone who had never taken it before
smart and helpful but hard tests all in all...very unsympathetic as well
HARD, but great teacher. If you work, you will do well
Clear and Helpful, however he seems to not care if you do well or not.
Class relatively interesting for ECON, HARD tests -study and do the WHOLE study guide, will send out answers about study guide questions if a student asks to entire class, extra credit for good attendance
worst class of college thus far. even worse than isat classes. why? teacher sucks. couldnt be more boring, and seems like he couldnt care less. only grades are tests, and theyre impossible. no good
Nice guy, good teacher, notecards on tests, drops lowest test grade, no homework, less then certain amount of absences you get 1/3 grade boost.
VERY hard tests, there is a reason you use notecards. GREAT teacher, you will learn alot. The best teacher i have had so far.
Course content confusing anyway but he makes no effort to offer extra help. Very difficult exams even if you do the study guide. Don't need book. Take someone else if you would like to pass.
do NOT take this class!..bu he is funny, he tell you about how he hates Coke and love Pepsi

DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
He is a pretty decent teacher...compared to other macro teachers he is great. Gives really good study guides and answers questions for the tests. It's a hard class, but I think he does the best he can with it. He babbles a lot and sometimes is confusing.
Cool class and he had personal interest in the material. Teaching was basically out of the book, but he would spend time making sure we understood it. Tests are 3 random questions chosen from essay list given out ahead of time.
i could not understand wat this dude said at all. it's a hard subject but he didn't make it any easier
I am a complete idiot at economics but did well in this class - he's a thorough teacher and if you do the study guides you can do well on his exams. And best of all there is no hw or other assignments.
He's a great teacher for a tough class. As long as you complete the study guide, go to class, and make your notecards then you'll be fine. He's an even tempered, cool guy. And he's very fair.
best professor at jmu that i have taken. class is difficult only because the material is hard; he takes the time to explain everything thoroughly
Not the worst, certainly not the best.
incredibly thorough with his explanations. lectures in a way that note taking is easy. tests are hard without a doubt, but then again, it's marcro, not home-ec. final grade increases half a letter grade if you miss 6 or fewer classes.
Despite what others say, he's a great teacher. Macro is hard, period. Nobody can change that but he genuinely wants you to learn and help you understand the material. He wants to know and help students, and that makes a great prof!
Dr. fields is a great econ teacher. He knows his stuff, gives great examples. Always willing to help. Be prepared to study...a lot. You will learn.
Makes a pretty dull class fun. Go to class and you will do good. Not a class for frequent skippers.
Macro is no picnic but he makes it bareable. He is a cool guy and tries really hard for you to understand. He allows a note card on each test and FOUR on the final. He also gives a grade boost for if you miss less then 6 classes. Take him over others!
I thought this class was hard, but hes stilla good teacher.
This material is super difficult but he tries to make it pretty clear and he'll drop your lowest test score as well as bump your grade for few absences. Definitely a great teacher and highly recommended.
3 tests and a final, dont have to take the final if youre happy with your grade. bumps your grade up a little at the end if you have fewer than a certain amount of absences, nice man, but difficult subject
Great teacher, makes a hard subject easy. Only three tests and a final. If you only miss 6 days, bumps up your grade.
Great guy--makes a difficult subject straightforward and clear! Take him!!!!
Great guy...extremely helpful (study sheet almost identical to test)...Definitely take this class!!!
great teacher, final was hard but not hard to do well in the class.
Best teacher I've had at JMU! Explains everything clearly, drops your lowest test score and doubles final if it helps, and moves your grade up a 1/2 letter if you miss 6 or less classes. He makes macro about as easy as possible!
Nice guy, but his tests are hard.
Dr. Fields is the man. Honestly if you really want to understand the concepts of macro and are willing to put the work in take his class. It is a complicated subject but he explains the concepts very well. You will benefit from his class plus he let's you have a cheat sheet. go to office hrs. yup
He is ****, his tests are practically the same as his review questions and the review questions are all just review of the notes from class. Requires a good deal of studying because economics is not always a common sense subject
A great teacher, very down-to-earth, will help you a lot. Study a lot for his tests, its a tough subject and you have to go over the review questions in order to do well on the test.
He's very excited about economics which makes the class a little bit easier because he uses examples that students understand and can relate too! He tries to learn everyone's name and takes time to help you understand. Make sure you go to class though, will really help your grade!
He is the man. Some people struggle in his class, but I dont see why... if you prepare a good cheat sheet (he allows one per test) then you should do fine. Plus you get to use all four for the final. There are only four grades (3 if you drop a test and make the final count as 50%)
Nice guy, good personality. You need to study for the exams but they're pretty decent and you get to use cheat sheets! Takes attendance but he makes class interesting so it's worth going.
Wynn Fields was a good teacher, he's very down to earth and approachable. Gets excited about economics, also teaches you about IRA and saving for retirement. Tests are hard but this is ECON, what do you expect?
This guy is hard, makes you work for the grade, and TEACHES you. Exam questions are picked from a set of 10 or so he gives beforehand, so they are not simple. Just study and learn. If you care about getting an education - ENROLL. If you want an easy grade - drop out of college and work in sales.
aight he is a nice guy and all and trys to make your grade as high as possible at the end of the semester. However all you do is sit and take notes and if you cant sit there every class and listen to everything then your sol. I dont recommend taking the class in the morning.
Winn Fields is a cool guy. He takes attendance everyday but if you miss less than 6 times, you get a half letter grade. Hes very clear and makes boring class very interesting, the class actually goes really fast. 4 Tests, 40 multiples choice Q's. Very possible to get a B- or B in a tough class.
He spends too much time rambling off on non-related tangents. Other people seem to do quite well with him, but personally he's the hardest econ teacher I've had. No homework, no feedback until after you take his test. Hope you can teach yourself.
Nice guy...kinda funny...goes off on 20 minute tangents...tests were extrememly hard..grade bump at the end really helps
This guy is tough, a good teacher but tough. Makes class go quick, and is funny at times. Requires alot of studying as index cards don't help you all that much because most of the question are about applying the information. The man need to get a haircut but I would take him if you can.
Took fields may session...Lectures are bearable, tests are easy in my opinion...Just study his notes and the do the outlines...got an A with minimal effort.
Tests are cake. He's unprofessional(bashes his old department at Miami University, a much better program mind you). Like wanna be intellectual elite Ned Flanders.
The material for this class was very challenging, but if you're willing to spend time outside of class it is well worth it. Go to his office hours. He might go off on tangents in class, but if you go in to his office to talk to him he's very helpful.
He's a good teacher and tries to explain as much as possible. Gives you the questions on the test before hand and makes you write a summary paper. Not easy though
The class is hard but he's a good professor. If you are willing to do work outside of class you can get an A.
Fields is a very awesome teacher! Tests are given beforehand so there are NO surprises. He'll also sometimes go on 30 min tangents about Showker clocks and how the state of Ohio is terrible.
Professor Fields is awesome. He writes all the notes on the board. Takes you through stuff step by step. Willing to help. Miss less than 6 class you will get a grade bump. Can use a 4x6 note card on every test. Tests mirror study guides - he even sends out the answers to the guides if you ask him. However, a lot of the test is applying. TAKE HIM!
Winsor is by far the best professor at JMU. He is probably the smartest man that i have ever met in my life. He LOVES econ, and presents the material in a way that allows students to enjoy it as well. He is soo willing to help you prepare for exams. You will need to prepare for exams but it is definitely managable..AWESOME CLASS!
Great teacher. Legitimately funny. The only teacher of my first semester I would definitely want to get again.
I'm an art kid..so Macro is deffinetly not my strong point but Prof. Fields made this class tolerable. If you pay attention and study the review questions he sends out then a B is easily attainable.
He is wonderful! TAKE HIM. I'm not a business/economics major, but he made it tolerable. Plus, he's so accessible and really wants to help all of his students. I'd say you can EASILY get a B if you try.
Definitely knows a lot about Macro and explains things very well but tests were hard...I always did the review sheets and I had a tutor and the tests were still HARD. Tells random stories which is fun. Great guy...learned a lot...test are just hard.
Best macro teacher at JMU. definitely take him and you will do better than you would with any other teacher. he raises your grade a 1/3 of a letter for good attendance and drops your lowest test grade if it helps you
My favorite professor at JMU. He is so clear and makes everything easy to understand. Is willing to give extra help and will never call you out in class. If you read, take notes and go over the review guide he provides, you can get an A.
Love this class! You have to take him... good professor, be prepared to take notes, and do the reviews before tests and you will do fine. Added bonus are random tangents during class such as why does the earth have water? or does anyone have the ring tone from the show 24? Great guy, fun class, and he keeps you guessing..
great teacher, cannot say that enough. allows you to use 4x6 notecards on each test. i usually was able to fit the whole entire study guide on the notecards, so tests were a breeze. with a massivce study session the night before the test, a B+/A was easily obtainable. take him.
Best professor at JMU. He is so helpful and covers exactly what you need to know for the test. This is the second class I've had with Dr. Fields, and I really enjoyed it. He does go on tangents but he always has something interesting to say. He makes econ majors feel very good about their desicion to study econ!
He's great .... I love his stories... gives you a study guide with all the possible essay test questions memorize those and your golden. Also, if you miss less than 5 times he bumps your grade half a letter grade... if u need an upper level elective take this one!
Fields was a goood guy, I liked him a lot as a teacher. His class is hard but its pretty straight ford. He gives you review sheets with questions on them before the tests do these and you should be good. Only 3 tests and an exam drops the lowest test grade, and he bumps your grade up if you miss under 5 classes. I would recommend him.
nice guy and an easy A.
He gives you the test, 10 questions, about two weeks in advance, and picks three questions at random on the day of the test. As long as you know how to do the problems, and don't wait until the day before the test to try to solve them all, it's an easy B or A. Also, if you miss less than five classes, he bumps you up from a B+ to an A- etc.
Nice guy. Tests can vary from extremely difficult to laughably easy depending on your section's draw.
Very clear and detailed lectures. At times a little slow paced for me, but very thorough and he'll explain things multiple times/ways if people are having trouble. All in all an awesome class. I'd highly recommend it. Relax and listen to the lectures, and ace the tests if you understand econ at all.
Good professor, nice guy. Always willing to help out when you need it. Hosts study sessions where he answers all questions from the study guide which is essentially the test. You learn a lot and get a good grade just by attending class. Sometimes a little boring, but his sidetrack stories are pretty amusing.
Actually makes macro bearable and actually interesting. Really flexible about test dates if you just talk to him about it. You can miss class 5 times before he fails you. Material isn't too hard if you just pay attention, and gives out really helpful study guides before tests.
Fields is a great professor! Challenging class but GO TO THE REVIEW SESSIONS and you'll do 10x better on the exams. Only grades in the class are the 3 exams and the final. He drops your lowest exam grade. He really understands economics and explains everything thoroughly. Take him!
Great Teacher! Grade gets bumped if you miss less than 5 classes; class is not difficult; very easy to get A. Tests are the only grades for the class.
Fields is the best econ professor. Review sessions are really helpful and his tests aren't that bad. Go to class. He repeats himself and its hilarious. Overall-he is a great teacher and class is enjoyable
Winn Fields is a great professor. He gives out study guides. Be sure to go over these very carefully. That is basically the test, and tests can get very difficult.... I got a C.... but only after figuring out how to study for them. Go to class.
Professor Fileds is the most interesting Prof at JMU. I started his class already knowing i was going to get an A and lean a lot. He gives you the chance to use a 4x6 notecard to use on his tests; along with a study guide. His class is extremely intersting. Prof teaches You life long lessons such as personal finance + just rambled stories. Take him
Professor Fields is most definitely the easiest teacher for Gecon200. His in class explanations are right to the point, and as long as you pay attention he gives you all you need for the tests, which he sends out review questions for that are almost straight from the test. He is also very approachable out of class. Take him!
Fields is quite possibly one of the the best professors here at JMU. He made the class enjoyable, and the man is so knowledgeable you can't help but learn! 4 tests straight from study guides and required attendance...but the attendance is converted into EC at the end of the semester, so it ends up helping you. Definitely Recommended.
Windsor is crucial. One word to describe him- Boss. He knows his s**t inside and out, and stimulates interest. He is very fair- thorough study guides, drops lowest test, grade boost for good attendance. If you don't do well, you aren't trying. Take!!!
I absolutely LOVED Fields.I am no genius and was nervous for this class but he made the material relevant, and clear.GO TO CLASS!If you do you won't be lost plus he moves your grade up if you miss less then 6 classes (ie:B- to a B) I ended up with a B. You are also allowed to have a notecard for each test and four of them on the final,is final cum
Hands down my favorite professor! If you have less than 6 absences he bumps your final grade. Gives study guides for each test and allows you to use a notecard. No reading but you take notes in class everyday. Grade is the average of 4 exams. Exams are 40 multiple choice questions. He is hilarious and you can tell he loves his job. TAKE FIELDS!
great teacher. probably the best teacher you can get for gecon!
Take Fields! Probably easiest macro prof you can get. Doesn't go by the book, and you pretty much have to attend every class. But very clear and knows the world about his subject. Drops lowest test and lets you use a note card for every test and 4 note cards for the final
Professor Fields is amazing. He immediately rolls up his sleeves and grabs chalk and writes everything up on the board as he talks and draws all diagrams by hand. It makes it so easy to follow along with and if you attend class and pay attention, you'll be fine. He's fantastic. I never even knew I liked ECON until I took his class!
Windsor is the man. His lectures in class are almost word for word on the test. Didn't open the book once all year. Study guides take time but if you do them and genuinely give it effort you'll do well on the test. BEST MACRO TEACHER
Boss Boss Boss... this guy is a boss. all day just with the mustache giving so much knowledge. goes off on tangents sometimes but many have alot to do with life great guy constantly pulling all the falls. never been so interested in a class in my life loves to talk about life and is clearly fall pulling literally.
Fields is the man! He whips out a piece of chalk and just does work. More than willing to help outside the classroom. Tests are multiple choice. TAKE HIM.
This guy is awesome! I really found everything he said fascinating. I regretted missing the few classes that I did because of the knowledge he instills upon his students through lecture. I got a 100 on every test. Not hard if you pay attention and go to class.
Easily one of the professors at JMU that I will not miss. Unless you are a Business major, you probably will be left in the dust. He often goes off on tangents and doesn't usually acknowledge e-mails, even when they are about deaths in the family. Overall, his class is doable, but be prepared to teach yourself everything he already taught you.
Fields is a GREAT teacher. He explains all the concepts perfectly in class, so if you pay attention in class there is absolutely no need to read the book, at all. He let's you fill out a 4x6 index card with information for each test and for the final you can bring all the index cards you made that year. 4 tests total.
Dude is wise. Like Confucius wise or, like, owl wise. But funny as hell too. And he's helpful if you ever need anything at all. Do his study guides and you'll do fine.
The best professor I have had a JMU. He has an example for everything and makes difficult concepts seem really easy. SUPER funny. Macro is a tough subject and most people don't like it, but with him, its everybody's favorite class.TAKE HIS CLASS
Fields is such a good professor! He loves macro so much he will do anything to get you to love it too. And i definitely didn't know anything when i entered. 3 tests and each one you can use a 4x6 notecard, and on the final you can use the ones you've made from previous tests. GET HIM IF YOU CAN, TRUST ME!
He is amazing, truly amazing. He has little digressions frequently, but is funny and they almost always relate back to what he said. The only bad thing is there are only 3 tests and a final, but he will drop the lowest grade if you do better on the final. You never really need the book unless you want clarification on something specifically, no hw!
Highly recommended, is a nice guy who wants you to do well. Let's you use index cards on tests and final, there's also never homework. Lecture style class so just take the notes he writes on the board. Don't buy the textbook
I'm a freshman this year, Professor Fields was by far my favorite teacher for my first semester. Really funny guy, and his lectures are actually really interesting. Your notes are based off of his notes which he does right in front of you on the chalk board. Your note just copying down boring power points like most classes. Three exams and a final.
Fields was a great professor in the fact that he taught a class that not a lot of people could grasp the concept. If you are struggling GO TO OFFICE HOURS. I didn't for the first test and didn't do as well as I liked and then I did for the next test and got an A on it. Only grades are 3 tests and a final. Lets you use a note card on tests.
Fields is the cutest. He is so passionate about the material and sometimes his tangents go way too far but overall the class is great. Four tests, lowest grade is dropped, and you get to use a notecard for each. I never got the book but I filled out the study guides, used his office hours before every test and got an A in the class. Take him!
He is a very passionate professor and tries to do his best to improve students' grades. Sometimes can be tangential but often times his diatribes are relevant to the material just most students don't realize it. Tests are entirely multiple-choice which can be tricky because he likes to use a lot of trick questions. He doesn't have an ego at least.
Windsor Fields is the man when it comes to macroeconomics. He knows what he's talking about and his notes make it so easy to do well. He gives out a study guide before every test with basically every question from the test on it. You're also allowed an index card with every test and you get to keep all index cards for the final.
I ended up in this class because it was a general education class that I just happened to get placed in my freshman year. I had no interest in economics, but I am now an economics major because of Professor Fields. I understand why people would say the class is hard, but Fields makes it as easy as possible. He is great if you give him a chance.
Definitely one of the best GECON professors out there! I came into his class not interested in econ but he makes things very understandable. Never used the book so don't buy it. He writes notes on the chalkboard the whole class so listen carefully and copy EVERYTHING because what he writes and says is what will be on the study guide and tests.
Amazing teacher. He's truly passionate about Macroeconomics & KNOWS what he's talking about, his lectures are great & he goes off on hilarious tangents every now and then in class. WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING HE WRITES ON THE BOARD. ALWAYS do the study guides he assigns before the test & go to his office hours to get help. Study guides help alot on tests
Professor Fields is a REALLY smart guyclearly an expert at macroeconomics. Even though this is my hardest class, I still enjoy going because of him. Go to office hours for help and do the study guides well in advance of the tests. He gives you 6 free absences and if you miss any more he wont curve your grade at the end of the year if you're close
Great teacher who is very helpfully if you go up to him with questions. Drops the lowest test grade. Most of test questions are similar to the review guide he sends out
Fields is a great Econ professor compared to the others. He is hilarious and seems like a really cool guy. Take notes every day so you can fill out the study guide he gives you before each test (which really helps) You get to use a note card on each test and the final. If you want to get a decent grade in econ and actually learn something take him!
He might be the best professor i have ever had. You don't use the book, so you need to go to class, but his lectures are really easy to understand. He goes at a fair pace too, so if you go to class you won't ever really feel that you are behind. Fields makes this class a lot of fun and he jokes around a ton. Take him if you can.
Gave him the "average" grade instead of "good" grade on accident earlier in the semester and came back specifically to correct that. He's a great guy and I really enjoyed his class. His office hours were extremely helpful and he really knows what he's talking about. Definitely have to study EXTREMELY hard for the tests though.
I learned a ton from him (helped my friend at Cornell!) and he was very easy to listen to, but I got a B- and have never studied so hard in my life. Macro is a hard class in general, but his final is 50% of your grade and its 80 multiple choice questions that are worded in the scariest way ever. Don't get the textbook
Econ is hard in general but Fields makes this class manageable. Grade is based on 3 tests and final (drops lowest test if final is better) which is nice because no homework but you have to study A LOT for the tests. Do the study guides and go to his office hours. Don't skip class because he just writes on the chalk board, doesn't use a textbook
Favorite professor so far at JMU by far. Tests are all off his notes, no need for the textbook. He gives you a long review packet before every test and lets you make an index card as a cheat sheet. Gives 4 tests, first 2 haven't been bad (87.5 & 92.5). His students average a B which is unheard of for ECON 200. Def take if your in COB.
Professor Fields is a great teacher and extremely knowledgable in economics. That being said, the grade is only made up of four tests and they are not easy. The book is not helpful at all so you MUST go to class and pay attention and you will do fine. You will work for your grade, but end up learning a ton too!
Fields is great! He really knows what he is talking about. If you do his test reviews you'll do fine on his tests, although, they are hard. He makes it really interesting! Take fields, seriously he is awesome!
I have never met a professor who is as passionate as him. It is obvious he's a genius in the subject! He's really funny and interesting. But I'm not gna lie, the class is hard! You HAVE to work for it. He gave many extra credit opportunities. You can't miss class or you will have no idea what's going on. Use his office hours! An Amazing professor
Best option to take econ. Since theres no readingstext, its easy to slack off or skip class- DONT. Go to every class and go to office hours- they saved my grade. He is an awesome professor but his tests are crazy hard but if you go to his office hours and do his reviews getting a A or B is completely logical. His lectures are super interesting too
This guy knows his stuff. Definitely wise in the ways of econ. Explains everything well, and there is no HW. 4 tests is the entire class. He gives you the test (8 questions) a week before and randomly selects 3 the day of the test. Show up to the class, as his lectures are your best resource to study.
He's alright. Mostly he teaches in ways that are a little difficult to translate into the real world. And he teaches macro mostly from the standpoint of monetary theory. Picky grader. Sometimes won't even explain why he took off your grade.
I'm not very interested in economics, and Fields tends to ramble on about nothing, but I'd take him again. His tests are all based entirely on what he talks about in class, and the review questions are extremely helpful.
Dr. Fields is a great guy. Didn't use the textbook. Take him for the life advice. However, I strongly recommend going to his office hours for clarification on all the review questions. He is really laid back and rants about random topics. His class isn't easy and tests were weirdly worded and multiple choices could seem right, choose the best one.
He is the MAN. Is definitely at the end of his teaching career so goes of on life tangents that are just fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable, but is completely honest when he doesn't know the answer to your question - will do some research and get back to you.
One of the best professors I have had at JMU. I actually enjoyed going to his class even though I'm not a big fan of Economics. He keeps the class interesting so take him if you can.
He is a great professor. He loves what he does and gives out study guides that is basically the test. Also allows a note card on every test which I didn't even need because he taught the material well. TAKE HIM.
Dr. Fields was my favorite professor first semester of freshman year. If you go to class, office hours, pass sessions, and do his review guides, you will be set for the class. He knows what he is talking about and will give you the grade you deserve. Drops one test at the end of the year if it helps you and gives EC if you miss fewer than 6 classes
Professor Fields is by far the best macro teacher you can take. He explains everything clearly and he is always willing to help. Macro is hard, but the way he teaches it, I found that I actually loved the subject. Take him if you can, he is awesome!
Professor Fields is one of the greatest teachers I've ever had. Macro is a very hard class just because it is a lot of information in a short amount of time, but Fields made this class enjoyable to go to and it was by far my favorite class this semester. 4 Tests, and he does drop the lowest grade and makes your final double if it helps your grade
Your grade is 3 tests and a final. Attendance is not mandatory but the tests are based completely on the lecture and if you do not go you will fail. Overall a knowledgeable guy and is available during office hours. Go to class, do the example problems, and go to office hours and ask questions and you will be fine.
It's true that you either get econ or you don't, but if not you can still get a good grade. His lectures are informative, but not too dense as he cuts it up with funny, relevant tangents. He explains everything well, is very knowledgeable & welcomes questions, esp at office hours. DO THE REVIEW QUESTIONS. Don't need the textbook.
Econ is a hard class no matter what but Professor Fields make it interesting to learn about. He has stories to go with a bunch of the topics learned, he also has a witty side to him. I would definitely recommend doing the review questions and going to the PASS Sessions
This man is a GOD SEND. This is the first time I have ever used this site - but he deserves to be known as one of the greatest professors on the JMU campus. Econ is rough - but he is fair, helpful, and SO SO patient. He does not make you feel dumb in office hours and he will explain things in so many different ways. TAKE HIM.
worst professor ive ever taken. he goes off on tantrums and stories about his life that has nothing to do with macro. doesnt explain the material well at all, and im a fairly good student and had no hope. i had to withdrawl form the class, along with multiple others people. do not take him, especially if ur going in the business college.
Fields is great! He drops the lowest of your three tests and double weights your final if it's higher. Also, non mandatory attendance but gives you a boost in grade if you have less than 6 absences. He goes off on a lot of tangents but honestly, he's the best ECON prof at this institution. HANDS DOWN.
Fields is the best econ teacher JMU has to offer! Like any other econ class, you do have to work for it. Textbook is not needed and you shouldn't but it. Attendance isn't mandatory but I advice you to show up because lectures are important and if you pay attention, almost everything he says will show up on the test! His study guides were helpful!
Fields is the man! Show up to class and take notes and you will do great on the tests! I bought the textbook and never opened it once because his tests come straight from lecture. Overall my favorite professor at JMU. I got a B doing very minimal work.
Your whole grade is based off of 4 tests and nothing else. He tends to go off on tangents a lot but is overall an incredible teacher who is so obviously passionate about what he teaches. Going to his office hours is SOOO helpful I can't stress that enough. He's always wiling to answer the same question 6 times until you understand the material.
Fields is a hilarious man. Your grade is based off of 3 test and the final. He drops the lowest test if your final is higher. GO TO OFFICE HOURS. He goes off on a tangent a lot which makes class enjoyable. Take him if you can!
