One of misfortunes in modern academic era.
Very text-book like teaching.
He is always in his office ready to help out with any questions. He teaches to the point. Organic chemistry is a VERY hard subject, so I can see why so students might not understand him.
VERY helpful! Always in his office and will drop whatever he's doing to answer your questions. Want to do well in his class? Study the notes and the homeworks! His exam questions are directly from them.
Excellent professor. Knowledgable and helps students academically and with advice to succeed not only in school but in life. After having him as my professor I ended up doing research in organic chemistry. BY FAR THE BEST PROFESSOR AT CSUN!!
What I could say about this professor is that DONT TAKE HIM I went to his office to see how I was doing in the class and he gave me a lecture on how he thought i was not going to be good in my career choice and how I need it to change it. Basically, he puts you down!!!!!
Liked his class a lot. Just make sure you read the chapter before you go to his class, because if you dont you can get lost. Hes very helpful and will answer any of your questions. A tough course, but he is an excellent teacher.
HORRIBLE TEACHER!!! DONT EVER TAKE HIM. Very confusing, goes by the book way to much and tests were nothing like quizes or homework. oh and he is really anal on attendance. TRUST ME DONT TAKE HIM
He's whatever. His weekly quizes and hw help alot but his lecture dont cover everything since theres so much. The book is very easy USE IT! His tests are pretty hard but go over all the ex from lecture and understand the concepts. Take notes frm the book and you will defenately pass the class.
ehh..he was an ok teacher. funny guy. i didnt read the book or really studied, and sat in the back and i still got a B-. i think if u take his class and actually study u'll have no problem getting an A. He goes by the book a lot, the best thing to do is to practice the problems in the book and u'll do fine.
He's a very good teacher. Sometimes he's hard to understand but he's willing to work with you as long as you're willing to try.
He was the worst professor I have ever had. He was very anal on attendance and tardiness, he's make us swear in fron of the class that's we'd never be late. He is very unorganized and it is very hard to understand him. I definitely do not recommend to take his class.
this guy's tests are hard. His lectures don't even cover most of the test material, so make sure to read the book. What he teaches is easy to understand, but he doesn't teach everything. He is sometimes funny. His lectures are straight out of the book and his quizzes and tests are not the same. The tests are like 2932394 times harder.
He is possibly the worst teacher you can possibly take at csun. he is so boring and you will for sure fall sleep in his class. it is hard to understand him at times and he wears the same outfit all the time. which consists of a white polo, faded black pants and black flip flops with white SOCKS!!! hes not fu
Although it may be a little hard to understand him, he takes a great deal of interest in his students, esp. in regards to attendance and understanding the material. He does several examples for each type of problem and has extended due dates on homework. He only has a few tests which are somewhat hard, but you should get a good grade if you try.
Dr. Zahir would be rolling in his grave if he heard this guy talk to students. He has no respect for anybody. Most myopic, self centered, incompetent dean I've ever seen. Good grief.
Good God! The worst possible chem teacher. His teaching style is good, however, test doesn't matches lecture notes nor HW. Test are extremely hard and some questions are not clear/worded wrong (he's korean). also, questions are tricky!!! don't take him!!!!
Good professor but it's very hard to keep up with his notes. His grades are already curved. I studied a LOT but still couldn't manage to get the grasp of his tests. His tests aren't necessarily hard but you have to know WHAT to study for and that's hard. He just tells you to study everything except for the very few topics he tells not to study
Try to avoid him.
Please stay away from this guy...The most incompetent and arrogant taecher that I have come across in CSUN and im one semester away my BS in Chemistry. Forget doing the homework or looking at his notes cause thats not on the test. If you have the chance take Nguyen instead.
Awesome Prof, Awesome Organic Chemist
He's completely useless. Dr. Oh is not interested in helping students AT ALL. I have no idea why he's the chair of the department.
Worst professor for Organic Chem. Doesn't go over basics of the mechanisms and doesn't explain what he is talking about. 3/4 of the class failed. No one can understand what is going on in his lectures and most students stopped attending class. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT TO LEARN THE SUBJECT! Can get by if you can learn on your own!
He's a fair professor. His lectures follow the textbook. Three mid-terms and a final. His exams are straight from the notes! You don't have to be a genius just a hard worker.
If chem isn't your strongest subject do yourself a favor and avoid this teacher. He vaguely covers each chapter and moves way too quickly. The test are incredibly more difficult that anything he goes over in class or in the discussion. Definitely do the book questions at the end of chapters.Got A's and B's on tests but only if I studied for a week
Please, listen to me. Do not take his class. "But I am really good at chem" His tests are too difficult "But as long as I go to class I will be fine" No you wont classes are pointless, reading the book is easier. Sure if you have a week to study to get a C+ then take this class. Dont take him. Honestly there are 101's with easy scantron tests.
Prof Oh is awesome. Ochem is a hard class overall and you need to stay on top of it. He is very enthusiastic about the subject and tries hard to get everyone to get into it. His tests are extremely fair but make sure you know your material (as in your practice). He's super helpful so make sure to ask him questions ! He is really nice!
Dr. Oh is awesome, and a very fair grader on all exams. Exams have 4 sections, 14 multiple choice and the rest are free response. OChem is difficult, but he can help make things easier. Great professor, wish he teaches 334. ATTEND class!!
2nd time taking chem 333. Idk why everyone is complaining on this site? Like seriously? He has the easiest tests in the department. FORREALS As far as him being mean? Dude's like a really nice grandpa. Easy A-B. Y'all need to learn to skim the book before class and ask questions. And then do the questions once you get home. I'd take it again
If you're not good at chem don't take him. Lectures are just him going over basics from a powerpoint he will send you. The textbook is your best bet for passing. Do the suggested problems from the syllabus, they're essential to passing his tests.
He cares about your success and he is very approachable so ask questions. You really should read before you come to class so you're not too lost. He can't go into detail because there is not enough time. You will be less lost if you read and practice sample problems ahead. He will give partial credit on exams. Practice chemistry problems everyday!
Professor Oh is not as hard as everyone makes him out to be. His tests are out of 125 points but the percentage is only out of 100 so you get 25 points e.c in a sense. Read the book and do the problems in the boo! Hes fast on the lectures so just read on your own and do the problems and you should be good. He doesn't do class review either.
If you struggle with chem or are new to it, I DO NOT recommend this prof. He lectures extremely fast and doesn't explain the concepts clearly. The class consists of two tests, the final, pop quizzes, and moodle quizzes for homework. He gives a good base, but I need to study A LOT outside of class to actually learn what he's trying to teach.
Dr. Oh is a funny person. He's also very nice. However, I didn't think he had the ability to teach. I found the entire class constantly confused with Organic Chemistry. It's common to struggle, but I don't think anyone felt good in his class. Worst professor i've ever had. Nice person... horrible teacher. had to teach myself 100%.
Reading these reviews and laughing. He's a chill dude guys idk, i usually just do the homework and take whatever notes in class. drink some coffee and whenever he says the same thing more than once WRITE IT DOWN. most of the questions are stuff he said multiple times. it wasn't an easy A, but it's doable. by doable i mean, no all nighters needded
I would not recommend taking chem with this teacher. Chem is easy, but he makes everything hard/cannot understand. All his tests are multiple choice. Half of the class were failed the both 1 and 2 tests. Other chem classes the average is 80, his class the average 45 YESSS 45. Unfortunately, if I could back the time I would not take him at all :(
He is a pretty chill professor meaning he cracks a lot of jokes, but it is a super difficult class. The grade is based off discussion worksheets, three midterms, and a cumulative final. The exams are pretty difficult and he is a tough grader.
I had to self teach in his class. His lecture slides can be unorganized. The grading scale is curved. 2 tests and final are worth the most. His tests are not like the common final; the final questions are straight to the point while his are not. He likes to crack jokes sometimes in class. Don't have to show up to class, but there are 5 pop quizzes.
Doesnt explain things and skims over everything do not take this professor if you are not prepared to learn on your own
Tough course (naturally), but Dr. Oh is one of the most passionate, knowledgable, & encouraging professors I've had thus far at CSUN. Makes you work for your grade, but that should be a given since it's expected to be a difficult class. 3 exams (non-cumulative), 1 final (cumulative), & practice problems make perfect.
Read+undrstnd book (Wade is good) and then do his selected problems. If you understand the book problems exam will have few surprises. 3 exams w/ 110, 110, and 104 possible points out of 100. Culm final. Exams hav som optional problems (solve6outof7etc). small discuss grade. 90A. 60C? Decnt lecturer. Doesnt use ppts. Only thing onlne r exam grades.
He doesn't have the ability to teach. He just skim over several topics and expect us to learn the topic before showing up to class. When asking for clarification, he doesn't have the ability to clarify the question. You pretty much have to self teach from the textbook or get a tutor.
I honestly really enjoyed his class. It was pretty easy for Organic Chemistry. His exams have extra credit on them and you have sections to chose from which is super nice. If you study for the exams with the problems assigned, you should get an A or atleast a B. Wish he taught 334. Not the best lecturer though
Dr. Oh is so kind & he gives valuable advice on how to study during his lectures. He teaches at a good pace & he wants to see his students succeed! He went over his exams after we took them & made sure the students understood concepts rather than memorized them. I feel that his exams were fair & I learned so much in his class. Thank You Dr. Oh!
He gives poor lectures. Reads right off the slide and if a certain word reminds him of something, get ready to go down memory road or to another off tangent topic. I got to admit I gave up on his boring lectures (huge amount of people didnt help). He could be an easy A but you wont learn much. You need to self study.
Lectures are just him reading off of poorly made PowerPoints that he copy and pastes.
The lectures are not great. If you have prior knowledge from your high school chem class, you should be fine. Imo, it is better to read the textbook than attend his class lectures as they feel like a waste of time. The tests should be easy if you self-study and take notes from your textbook.
Do not take this professor, his PowerPoints are poorly made just by copying the book and does not help at all. Tests do not match the lectures. Will NOT give study guide (claims the book is the study guide), practice problems, extra credit. He doesnt curve/drop lowest score on pop quiz. If you can please get another professor...
Professor Oh is very passionate, and truly wants his students to succeed. If you participate in class, do the homework, and do the practice problems for the chapter, you will do fine in the class. He is very helpful during office hours, and will gladly help you.
I would recommend taking another chem 100 professor. He seems like a sweet guy but doesnt know how to teach the class well. He gets of topic real easily. You basically have to teach yourself if you want to pass this class.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER. he makes everything so complicated and doesnt know how to teach. he doesnt curve any exams, no matter how bad the entire class did & doesnt give extra credit. he constantly reminds the class that more than half of us will fail, but he doesnt make the effort to raise up the fail percentage. save your GPA & take a good professor
this class killed me. 0/10 would not recommend
He's a nice approachable person but not a good lecturer. You're basically on your own so if you have a weak chemistry background start practicing way ahead of time and don't fall behind.
Unfortunately Dr. Oh's OChem class was the only one available to take. He makes you feel very stupid in class and it discourages people from asking questions. If he doesn't like you, it is very known. He's not very respectful and will yell at you if you don't know what to do. He will crack some jokes in class and is very strict with electronics.
Be ready! He made you do pre and post lecture homework online (a waste of time). He made you learn everything (naming the structures, their configurations. etc). Just focus on 1-2 big topic and focus on it. Because you can choose which long question to answer. These questions worth like 15-20 points.
Dont let everybody scare you about Dr. Oh. READ THE BOOK and DO THE PROBLEMS. Although his lectures could be a bit more organized, Dr. Oh TRULY wants his students to succeed. Class is graded on a curve 85% A. Extra credit quiz opportunities and extra credit on every test. Use your time in discussion wisely and ask questions!! YOULL BE FINE.
Organic Chemistry in itself is a difficult subject and in order to get through it, the professor needs to have the ability to teach with enough enthusiasm and in an organized way. Unfortunately, Professor Oh, as knowledgeable as he is, is neither organized nor enthusiastic. You will need to read the book page by page and teach yourself 13 chapters.
Professor Oh is one of the most interesting people I have come across in my academic career. Given, he is knowledgeable about ochem, however he is unable to verbalize it in a way that makes it easy to understand for students. He does make things difficult so its easier for him. Dont recommend unless youre good at self teaching.
READ THE BOOK BEFORE LECTURE! IF YOU DON'T, YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND THE LECTURE. This class is self-taught. I learned from the book and youtube. We had 2 extra credit quizzes. All exams have extra credits.
Worst professor ever !! Dont take him because you have to teach yourself . I sat in the first row and I still couldnt hear him because he speaks so low. He doesnt know how to explain or teach material and reads off the slides. The tests are super difficult and have nothing to do with the PowerPoint slides. He has five pop quizzes and two tests.
You learn on your own, your supposed to read the chapter being reviewed before class. There is a pre &post homework for each chapter. Only 3 exams and a few pop quizzes. Doesnt give any study guides, he wants you to use the book. You write notes on paper & do pop quizzes on phone or iPad. No phones allowed during class. Says everything is optional
He speaks so quietly in class it's hard to hear him during his lectures. Most of his quizzes are given at random and don't match his lectures at all. I learned more from doing the online homework than going to class.
This is a self taught class. I had a 4.0 GPA going into this. His lectures will not help you in the slightest. He moves too fast, does not answer questions accurately, and does not provide a study guide. You cannot learn from your mistakes, since you will never see your tests or quizzes again and Pearson will not show you the right answer for HW.
This class has reminded me of why I really dislike chemistry. This is a 100 class, meaning it is supposed to be somewhat easy, right? Nope. This class really stressed me out and i had to teach myself most of the time. TIP: watch "Tyler DeWitt" on YouTube if you ever start struggling on something.
just horrible.. run away.
He spends most of his lectures not teaching and just telling stories about his irrelevant life. I self teach myself in all of my classes and i'm able to get A's even in the hardest pre-med courses, but for Ochem you really have to not only be able to self teach yourself, but also have a good professor for guidance. He guided us to failure.
Ochem is one of those courses where self-teaching will only get you so far. A great professor who is actually willing to TEACH and allow students to grow and make mistakes is definitely needed. Prof O. LACKS in this area. drop the class before its too late, otherwise best of luck to you! Btw Ive received As in all prereqs leading to this class
Chem is already a hard subject, but Prof Oh does try to help you pass. For our class, he did offer extra credit, which helped a lot. Although attendance isn't mandatory, but go anyway and you might be lucky and he'll get extra credit. He goes over questions too if you ask questions. For our final, we took it almost a week in advance, so that good..
States that most people have to take the class again because it is expected for you to fail the first time also said in syllabus, first couple of weeks were easy but after the first exam it just gets harder & picks up, not a bad teacher but material is hard to grasp & he doesn't explain it in depth just expects you to already know it for chem100
Professor Oh is very passionate about chemistry, however, he expects you to have read the chapters beforehand to establish minimal understanding; so that during class, he can answer any questions you have about the content. During office hours, he is very patient and will go to lengths to help you understand.
I tried so hard to get out of this class after reading his reviews. He's not as bad as I thought. He offers extra credit pop quizzes, sometimes open notes and the same exact problem. Other than that he grades quizzes and exams. Drops the lowest exam. Takes attendance every class but if does not affect your grade in the class.
You could tell he knows his stuff but the problem is he doesn't know how to teach it to others. If youre not a good self teacher or wont look up videos on youtube then get out while you can because you wont do great. Asking him questions doesnt help he just tells you to read the book or criticizes you saying "you did not read the book go read it"
His lectures do a well job of explaining the chapters thoroughly and he's not a bad professor but your grade mainly depends on how well you do on the 3 exams. Make sure you attend every class since attendance is part of your grade. He doesn't round grades so if you're at a verge of receiving an A and everything has been graded, forget it.
Professor Oh is a great professor! However, this is a chemistry course, so you have to practice a lot to really understand all the concepts. His exams are very similar to the problems given in the textbook, but *from my experience* not everyone uses the textbook. Attendance is also mandatory, as you sign your name to indicate that you are present.
Absolutely like the way he teaches in class. He cares about his students and make us understand well. But the final grade depends a lot on the three exams. Which is why this is not an easy class to get an A. I got full marks on other pop quizzes and homework, but he weighs exam scores heavily so its easy to lose marks, what a bummer.
He's very nice but doesn't teach much. You basically have to teach yourself and read the chapters before class to understand because he doesn't explain much. We just did examples most of the class, but when it came time to explain how it was done he skimmed over it. The spirit is there, but be prepared to watch youtube to understand the material.
I hated his slides, I did take this class during the pandemic so it was online so it was easier but I still didn't like it. Quizzes are okay, 3 exams, he says its mandatory but he won't care if you come or not.
He gives a fair amount of homework! His lectures help you get a better understanding on how to solve chem problems! Also if you have questions dont be afraid to ask he is very nice and funny. Overall this class is moderately difficult but this is only the beginning of chem so it wasnt that bad!
Professor Oh is very passionate about chemistry which makes it a bit easier to focus on lectures. There was a decent amount of homework but not too overbearing, it definitely helped to understand the chapters. Also, definitely take this class if you are worried about having a decent grade because the curve helps a lot towards the end.
Took during the pandemic. Refused to have a grading rubric in the syllabus and then made it up in the middle of the semester. Refused to grade classwork/discussion work and selected 5 out of 16 to grade. Made the grade of 1 discussion 1 midterm. So if you did poorly on a random discussion he picked, you drop a letter grade. Muted students.
dont take him unless youre into BDSM bc hell make your life hell. Aside from what everyone said, this guy yells at his students at any convenience and even mutes them whenever its convenient for him. Youve been warned
DO NOT TAKE Even if hes the only professor available! DONT! Id rather skip a semester thanbe stuck w him. From start-finish u have no idea how he grades &the syllabus is not followed. 16 discussions due&only 3 random ones graded onCORRECTNESS. If you did bad on 1, total% drops10%. 2 exams 1 final &popquizzes. ALSO HAS TENURE, COMPLAINTS DO NOTHING!
no opportunities for EC, grades discussions on rightness rather it being 50/50 with rightness and you getting it done, grades only 5 of the 20 discussions because he is lazy (he doesn't say he grades this way on his syllabus), makes constant mistakes in his exams, not accommodating during the pandemic, & treats his students like morons. Just run.
I had to take this man TWICE already, nearly 3 yrs ago and again this year, so believe me when I tell you that I would rather walk through a mile of burning coals barefoot than have to deal with him ever again. Save yourself and drop the class if hes the professor assigned by the chemistry department!
He ended up curving the class which was the only thing that saved me. He is passionate about chemistry but doesn't know how to teach. Doesn't hear students out if we are having a difficult time. Graded on very few things so that can make or break your grade. Didn't know what my grade was until last week of school because he's so unpredictable
He's alright. He read off of his slides during lecture that are on Canvas with some guidance when it comes to practice problems. He tries his best to make class entertaining but it gets annoying at times. Although attendance is part of the grade, I barely showed up, if at all, and still passed from homework (Pearson) and test. Take the CPT instead.
He will not upload lecture slides until he's finished lecturing so you can't use them for notes. You end up missing what he's lecturing because you're busy trying to copy the notes correctly. He assigns a pre and post HW for each chapter, so be prepared to do HW for material you haven't learned/covered in class. He can be funny but he's not caring.
Professor Oh is extremely passionate about chemistry. He is kind and understanding but he goes through lectures VERY fast. There was a pop quiz after every other chapter. All homework is online. Tests are extremely fair, no surprises. Do the self assessments at the end of each chapter as some of the test questions are similar if not the same.
Very knowledgeable and funny, but most of the work has to be done by you with the textbook. My only real concern was how we used a lock-down browser for pop quizzes and tests which was incompatible with my device and he was unhelpful with my struggle so my grade took a few hits before I found a fix. Overall, it is a fair class, but you have to work
Just beware of the popquizzes. It can drop your grade significantly. I hated the mastering chem. I think it's useless. It takes a lot time to do.
He couldn't teach for his life. He skipped so many steps in the learning process and instead of teaching the vital information, he insisted on us teaching ourselves it & making lectures more complicated if we didn't know the vital information. The grading system is messed up. MCQ questions have like 8 options. He is just weird too, don't take him
Dr.Oh is a nice, but he isn't helpful when answering questions. He would always say did you read the book. I'm not a fan of Mastering Chemistry since it doesn't show my progress. This class is very tough, especially the exams omg. The grading system in this class is very strict. Beware!
if you can avoid taking him then I suggest you do so. he grades extremely hard and tends to get frustrated in class if no one asking him questions. Do not recommend.
Cannot teach. Focuses on outside information more than the necessary content. In short, L professor.
By far, one of the worst professors I've had does nothing but lecture outside material and not on stuff he tests you on; and just reads off slides he doesn't teach.
I would never recommend taking this professor. He isnt a teacher. He doesn't try. He takes the work from the book and puts it on the slide. He doesnt teach he also doesnt show you how to do anything. He talks more about his personal life than actually teaching. Nobody understands what he is teaching. Be ready to figure everything out alone.
So the ratings below are not wrong. For this to be a mandatory intro class to Chem 101 it feels more like we are in chem 102. Does not teach, reads off of slides then ventures off talking to himself. Can hardly hear him most time. Exams are only based on the textbook, basically being in class is a waste of time since we teach ourselves anyways.
Dont take his class
Took his course when retransitioning to in-person online starting off the first 3 weeks. By far the hardest class I've taken, in this course with this professor prepare to do one of the following, drop and take it another semester with a better professor, or seek intensive tutoring to save yourself.
The final exam which the chemistry department chooses was very easy compared to the exams which he created. He has too many restrictions when taking his exams and weighted grade sets you up for failure take another professor if you value your grade and want to actually be taught Chem instead of self teaching the material.
Worst professor by far. Only shows up to the lectures for the paycheck. His lectures are straight from the book. You're better off reading from the book. He is somewhat rude to his students and SI Leaders and gives a hard time while lecturing. He talks very low and makes it difficult for the class of 60+ to listen. Would not recommend him.
He gave quite a lot of work, but his tests were all multiple choice even the final. Honestly just pay attention to what he says during the lecture and there are times when he might not explain something well, ask him or just go to the textbook. There is a lot of MEMORIZATION for this class.
Dr. Oh is not for everyone. However it is possible to succeed in his class if you are self driven. I got an A but the class average was a 48-55 (C-). He is generous and forgiving and easier than other professors if you put in the effort. Be prepared to do some self learning, but otherwise his exams are simple and fair.
One of the most frustrating professors in Chemistry thus far. He will not answer questions instead ask it back to you. Every other class was at least 3 chapters behind our class, he rushes into lectures that you will be tested on. Good thing was the quizzes (extra points) being that he was the only professor to give us 4 exams total.
GO TO CLASS!!! attendance isn't mandatory but he gives out the easiest pop quizzes (copying from the board) which really helps boost your grade. he also pays attention to who's showing up for class/OH. He goes slow at the beginning of class and speeds up when time is running out. he also doesn't post slides until Friday which sucks
If you want a professor who just reads off slides and uses a pointer for classes then go ahead and take this class. Will get mad for having your phone out and cut class short because he "can't" concentrate because of the phone. Gives random attendance quizzes (only good thing is copying whatever is on the slide) and does not give feedback on tests.
While Dr. Oh is by no means an easy grader, he is really fair in the questions he asks and the exams that he gives. He is actually really kind and if you ask as little as a question or two per class, he will greatly appreciate it. He really isn't that hard to talk to, go in with an open mind!
Professor Oh is not for everyone. Be prepare to teach yourself using outside sources plus the textbook. He flips through lecture slide very fast and will not give you the lecture slide until the end of the week. Discussion was kind of straightforward, he will answer your question with another questions or give hints.
The only thing you need to do to pass his class is show up every day and pretend to pay attention. Also he hates phones so if you can pretend to listen to lecture and not be on your phone you will def pass. His exams are WAY EASIER than Minehan and is multiple choice. His participation quizzes boosts your grade but they are a surprise
Not sure how few people are saying his class was fine. He literally changes a slide makes the class copy it but changes it to the next slide half way through and keeps doing that. All he does is change slides. You gotta go to class and pretend you are writing notes because he wont post the slides until the following weekend. A TA can teach better.
The professor's lectures are dry and unhelpful, often just reading from slides. Self-studying the textbook is crucial, but Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for exam prep. Overall, a difficult class requiring a lot of independent work.
Great professor and mentor, very paitent and caring.
Professor Taes lectures were incomprehensible in which all he did was read of the slides and go very quickly. His class was mainly based on the exam grades yet he didn't bother to create helpful reviews before any of his exams. I've never not passed a class but obtained a D, his multiple choice exams had endless options. I do not reccomend.
Overall, I think Professor Oh means well, but his lectures are absolutely horrible and have no real material except recycled slides from the book. He actually refuses to help you when you need it and will just tell you, "It's on the slides." Would not recommend; not worth your mental anguish.
Read the book, youll be fine.
Be prepared for random pop quizzes. He just reads off his slides and goes way too fast. He is very strict about phones and will dock 2.5% of your grade each time you are on it. His tests are all multiple-choice, but no review or guidance is provided; he will just tell you to look at the syllabus. Be prepared to teach yourself a lot of the material.
The worst professor I've encountered. Only reads off of slides, uploads a week later, and barely explains it. He also takes FOREVER to grade stuff.... All test averages were 50/100, no curve. O chem is tough but he made it worse. Don't waste time with note taking (he goes to fast), find a way to teach yourself, and get used to the material early.
Worst professor I've had out of my 7 semesters. Lectures at an insanely fast rate and assigns a ridiculous amount of online hw. Lectures are not useful whatsoever. Finds mistakes in his slides that he copies straight from the book mid lecture. Does not care about his students at all. Get ready for a lot of self teaching! Shame on the department!
His exams aren't that bad literally just read the textbook. He literally gets all of his information from the textbook. All of his lecture slides are from the textbook. I don't know if it's going to be different next semester, but literally how I studied was just reading the textbook and using the practice questions from the textbook .
He's an alright person but he just repeats stuff from the textbook. Focus more on the textbook yourself. Overall, he's strict but no under reasonable. Just boring really.
