Great teacher. Lots of fun to be in his class. Easy to relate to.
He talks really fast. However, he is easy to relate to.
good guy, talks about drinkin beer and eating pizza, relates things well. grades a lil tough, but really fun professor
Easy to relate to...you may even catch him downtown, mingling with us commoners
Very Good Teacher, his tests are very hard alot of people don't do to well, but the group work for the Survey Project makes the class passable.
Very intelligent and entertaining as well. Teaches well and always relates to students.
I really enjoyed my class with Dr. Brooks because he knows what it's like to be in my shoes and always tries to help everyone. Awesome teacher, nice person, and entertaining overall. I thought his jokes WERE funny!!!
Made class fun. Funny guy. Makes this tough subject easier to understand.
relates well to the students
made class lots of fun, i always left in a good mood, and also having learned something (i suppose that's important too). not bad lookin either!!
Hard teacher but does a pretty good job. His cuteness makes the class bearable.
HE knows what he is talking about. The toughest part of his class is going into the project completly blind. If you ask him for help, he doesn't want to give away too much, but its just tough to understand exactly what to do when you have never done itbef
He is a good guy and pretty fine. He's kind of a player too. If I was a girl I'd be trying to holla at this prof. Anyway, I find his lectures a little long and hard to listen to. You need to really read up to understand the course. Harder than 110
Probably has a good rating cuz of looks, age, and jokes, but NOT a good teacher. He just goes through examples w/o really explaining the material. Tests are hard but manageable (I've had some econ before). Boring. Take him if you want to be frustrated...
Total idiot. Knew his stuff but not a good teacher. I was lost the whole class and the project was a waste of time. You don't learn what you're supposed to learn. He's hot at first but once you discover he's a nerd, it all goes downhill.
His tests cover like 6 chapters each n all his notes r on slides but since there r so many its hard. Barely any hw, its the 10th week and weve had 1 test and 2 prob sets and 2morrows test is 40% of r grade so far. He knows his stuff but there is so much info on the tests its a hard class. Avoid
This class is next to impossible. I've studied for his test at least two weeks before the exam date. I really don't think that how much I study the material I will never fully understand it enough to do well on one of his tests. Good luck to all of you that think that this class will be fun.
Lectures are boring. Just reads off powerpoints he got from the book website. Tests are hard. Hard to get a good grade even when you know what you are doing. Only have 3 tests and they are hard. Try not to take him.
This is a very hard class. You have to do tons of reading in order to do well at all on his tests, which cover tons of material. He's a funny guy and a nice teacher, but i would avoid the class if you could. He is also very good looking and has excellent style.
I think he is an excellent prof. He relates the class to the real world, and it is always an interesting class. It is hard, and you have to work, but I always tons everyday! The classes aren't boring and dry, although the tests are pretty hard, but I would reccomend him...and hes pretty good lookin
Good class-Good instructor
I am a guy, so I don't think he's hot. He is an excellent professor and I have learned a lot. The class is harder than I expected, but if you READ the textbook material and study the slides that he puts on the net, then you SHOULD get and A. If you don't try and don't go to class, good luck...
is pretty damn funny. it is a hard class but if you like econ take it with brooks because he gives real world examples and tries to make a boring subject as fun as it can get.
He isn't a bad teacher to look at and has a good sense of style. As for the class, his tests are kinda hard but he does curve them. He is not very clear and just reads off the powerpoint more of class. He does a good job of relating topics to the real world. Funny guy
He is funny but I don't think he is really a great teacher. He just uses powerpoint slides the whole time and his examples don't always make sense. His tests are hard and they cover like 6 chapters.
hot, helpful and funny!!!
makes the class interesting, and can relate econ to the real world. take him!
Amazing teacher, and wonderful on the eyes. For any females out there who have problems attending class....definetely a good prof. You will never want to miss class again as you will not wish to miss this beautiful man!!!
This is my favorite class of the semester! He is soo hot which makes class lots of fun! He also relates everything to things that college kids are interested in. It makes class fun. I love this class and him! I recommend him to everyone..especially the girls!!
Hes a good professor. He lectures right from the book, so read the chapters. Ask him questions if you have them, he really utilizes email, so take advantage of that. Tests are worth 200 pts or more, they cover 6 chapts at a time and are very challenging.
Tests seemed almost impossible. I didn't do well on any of the exams, but i still got a C in the class... doesn't assign much homework, but when he does, its not too hard, and one paper which was easy. Grading is kind of unclear, but in the end it is fair.
He is a great teacher. Yes, you may have to work hard and study, but you'll definitely know your stuff when your done in his class. You will attain oodles of knowledge whether you probably want to or not!
He seem funny and nice, however his teaching style suck.... Most of the time I had to refer back to the book to understand what he was talking about. Quiz are not bad...however test can be hard...
He's a cool guy, lots of fun and pretty laid back, but his teaching style sucks. He reads off of a powerpoint the entire time (which is posted on his website). the MOST boring class I've taken yet. I just read the powerpoints off the internet then took the tests and did fine.
good guy, not many grades in the class, so make sure to do well on the exams. paper at end of semester that was worth a lot of points, helps your grade a lot since he grades that easier than the exams and the 3 or 4 assignments of the semester. Important to attend each class--otherwise kind of screwed for the exams...
He's HOT!
Hard and very confusing if you aren't good at economics.
he keeps you interested in class and brings up random**** left and right so it helps keep you up in the morning expecially when your class is at 745 in the morning
very demanding and challenging professor. One of the best I had in UWL. Cool guy. He will not give away grades.
Quite honestly he's a prick when it comes to grading. He's a nice guy so get to know him but dont expect this class to be easy.
This class was extremely boring because the class is taught based on powerpoint slides which almost puts you to sleep at times. TJ is an extremely nice guys and is willing to help you at all times. His quizzes are worth 40pts(10 questions) and are rather tricky but he curves them at the end of the semester. Keep up on Powerpoints and readings!
its econ, so if your stupid you will do horrible. but if you have some semblance of a brain you will do fine.
Well, i went to class everyday and still found a way to do poorly on the quizzes. I studied every night for several hours and for some reason never did well... at all.... cool guy, likes what he does... the quizzes just dont relate to what he teaches....
He may be a hottie, but this class is tough. Pretty much only slideshow presentations. Quizzes aren't too bad but the tests are difficult. Always has two essay questions that are likely to confuse....
Very funny and easy to get along with teacher. His powerpoints might be kind of boring, but you actually have to keep up with the readings to do good on the quizzes/exams. If you like to do work and a have a funny teacher, I would take him.
He knows he's cute and he probably should start dressing his age and stop relying so much on the bad instructor's crutch: powerpoint. Maybe he should lecture more?
What a fantastic SOB! Thought for sure I was going to fail his class, but at the end, he put a nice curve on the grades and I ended up doing all right. Different proffessor and should be taken.
I LOVED this guy because not only was he pretty damn hot for a prof, but he was kind of sarcastic and a****to the students- which made class a lot more fun every day! Also, you can tell he knows A LOT about the subject & he puts a HUGE curve on the grades at the end!
Bad teacher.... Quizzes and exams are real tough. He is obsessed with dressing like he is 20... even though hes like 40. Can be humorous at times.. but this wannabe**** star should stop teaching
takes up most of class talking about things that are not covered on tests. talks about all current events and drugs and junk that is not in the book or on his exams. read the book more so than going to class becouse that will help you more. he is funny but not good at teaching
Does not cover the material that is on the test!I have a hard time not going to class not because of the information but because he talkes about stripers and**** the whole time. Funny man, but poor teacher.
TJ is a good prof. His tells you what to expect the first day of class. His tests are pretty tough but his sense of humor makes up for it. As long as you studied the notes, read the book, and showed up you will be okay. He also has very difficult "suprise" quizes that he tells you when to expect them.
TJ is a good guy, his tests and quizes really aren't that tough if you study a little bit. He's a fair grader too, almost everything is multiple choich though except for essays which he is pretty easy on. Also offers the easiest extra credit in history. If you go to class it's an easy B
I thought he was entertaining and used a lot of real life examples. His exams were kind of hard. You should be alright if you read. No matter who you take its a hard class so I would recommend him. If you go to class its a easy B. :)
Brooks is a good professor to take for this class. Econ is just hard in general, but Brooks is a great professor.

Brooks's great. He's really good at incorporating the f-bomb to keep students awake. Daily slides can get boring, but he teaches you the basics and tells you when there's going to be a quiz. The tests aren't too bad as long as you go to the book's website and do the online quizzes, they help.
really boring class, especially cause all he does is read slides and try and make them understandable but they arent. Tests and Quizzes arent the easiest. Hes a funny guy at times, but I wouldve rather taken an easier teacher for my grades sake.
He makes this class WAY harder than it should be. No examples, so you have to GUESS what he actually expects from you. Group meetings mandatory weekly-- too much time wasted on a 200 lvl. Take a different teacher.
Although he really tries hard to make his lectures interesting, it's kind of hard with this kind of subject. Wouldn't say his tests are easy, but he curves them reasonably. You should be fine as long as you study and contribute in your group work.
Tough but fair, there are not a lot of points to your grade so the tests are a big deal. Doesn't go over a whole lot that is going to be on the tests so you gotta do your work.
funny guy and a good teacher but his class is really tough, you really have to be prepared for his tests in order to do well on them. Classes are kinda boring as well but he is a good guy.
He seems really cool at first, then he starts "teaching." He never answers your questions straight up, he is VERY vague, very hard to know what is required in his assignments. Do not take him!!!!!
Decent guy, he's 39 but looks 19. Not very quick to post grades, but he grades fair. Definitely not an automatic A. You can joke around with him but don't cross the line. This class was very interesting and worth going to. After the final he took the entire class to Eagle's Nest and bought us pitchers. Oh yeah, and call him Taggert...he hates that!
Cool guy, You will like him but the class is hard. If you get a good group you are set though. Tests are hard, he grades kind of tough and there are only 2 exams worth 25% of your grade, so if you mess up, you are screwed. Not the worst choice, but for your grades sake there are easier teachers.
Very hard professor, doesn't make it clear what he expects. Your report grade is completely up to his discretion. I wouldn't take him again if I had a chance.
really hot and funny and nice but a terrible teacher. Super likeable guy but his teaching method makes his class next to impossible if you're not super good at econ. He uses a "flipped classroom" style of teaching which means you teach yourself the material outside of class and then do stupid activities during class time. Would not recommend.
He is super attractive and funny but HE DOES NOT TEACH ANYTHING. It's an inverted classroom so he does not teach crap,he wastes your time in class and tells you to read on your own. COMPLETELY POINTLESS
Professor Brooks expects a lot out of his students. He has a "flipped learning" style that requires students to take quizzes and read before class, then he briefly touches on each subject. If you don't learn well outside on your own time, Professor Brooks is not optimal. However, if you ask a lot of questions, you will do fine in his class.
Teaches using "flipped classroom." Personally I feel that made it more difficult, but it depends on how you learn. If you're interested in the topic and willing to work for it you'll do fine. Definitely not an easy A though. Reading and doing online quizzes were good way to help grade. Also gives out practice exams which are extremely helpful.
Does a "flipped classroom" where students have to teach themselves everything for the week and take a quiz before he talks about the information. He does this because he has more important classes and work to worry about as head of the department. Very easy class but don't expect to learn anything from the teacher.
TJ definitely knows his stuff but doesn't explain things very well. It's all reverse classroom so you have to read the chapters and take a quiz on it BEFORE he even talks about the material. I basically taught myself the subject. Lectures can be interesting.
I found micro very easy, so I was expecting macro to be as well. It was not. He does not explain material well. I find lectures to be an effective way to teach; he does not. He prefers you learn it on your own and then he reviews it in class, which makes this course tougher than it should be. Funny guy but he uses a poor teaching system.
He doesn't really teach you anything, yet expects you to know the material. He makes it seem easy until you get to the exam, going to class offers very little reward. You'd probably be better off not going and teaching yourself.
Honestly, Brooks is the worst professor I have had at UW-L. If you want to teach yourself literally everything then go ahead and take him. He doesn't care about his students, and is full of himself. "Flipped Classroom", how about "I don't know how to teach". Good luck trying to stay awake. Never had a more arrogant and useless professor.
Tough tests, vague, cool guy but lectures were pointless to attend.
I've taken TJ twice now (120/230), he's a funny guy but really unclear about what he wants out of his assignments. Tests are 50% MC and 50% SA, the SA is usually two questions, so your grade is left up to him. For a 200 level class the group project was WAY too big. Started at the beginning of the semester and met at least 15 times.
Avoid this man. He's extremely unclear and vague for BUS230. He tries to come off as a cool guy but he's full of it. For fall semester, his D2L was still on his summer course. His grading "curve" he posted is the standard grading scale and he promised to curve everyone's grades at the end when in reality he never does. Worst professor at UWL.
Great professor. Used a flipped class room method to teach. He expects you look over material before class starts. If you dont you will struggle to keep up. His exams are what is covered in class and the book. Granted I was in the major so I might have been better suited for his style.
Professor Brooks literally doesn't give a rip about you. Makes a 200 level class much more difficult than needed. He believes in "I'm not going to teach you, you have to learn yourselves". He's also swears a lot unnecessarily. Would highly recommend taking it over the summer or j-term so you get it over with versus a 14 week semester.
If you take his class, then Khan Academy is your professor. Nothing to say. Feel like I'm wasting my time and money by taking this class. And this flipped class method is so confusing. It's fancy word but it's just basically saying YOU STUDY EVERYTHING YOURSELF.
Brooks is a fine guy, but I wouldn't recommend you as his explanation wasn't that helpful as I was studying course materials. And your grade depends heavily on three exams. If you mess one up, you probably would get a good grade. Considering it was an online class, I had to look up other online materials and teach myself.
