Professor Shoemake is a young and very relatable individual. He goes above and beyond for the class. His lectures are entertaining and interactive. I loved going to his class, even on Friday's! He made this class amazing!

Mr. Shoemake is the best TA I've ever had. He would lead our discussions based on the book we went over in class and made some dry material into enjoyable. He asks for honest opinions, and as long as you can back it up you will do well. He switches what he does, so it does not become repetitive or tedious. I can't recommend him enough!

The class overall was not bad. He was very nice and was always into his lectures. I found that I did not have enough time to complete the assignments and the grading was a little harsh. It being a hybrid class was not the easiest to always be on campus, so I think it should be fully online or fully on campus.

Mr. Shoemake was the easiest class I have taken for my first semester in college. His class is not hard at all. If you show up and do the work you will pass. There's also extra credit to help with any grades you're not satisfied with. Overall, I would say most definitely take his class for ENGL 1001. I will be returning for ENGL 1002.

Would definitely recommend Prof Shoemake for English 2000, he was very approachable and genuinely wanted to help you work on your paper and get a good grade. I thought he graded easily I made A+ on every paper. You do have to do work for this class though, lots of assignments but not unreasonable for a college class.

Great Professor

This was actually 2148 and it was Taylor Swift and Shakespeare. I took the class because I love Taylor Swift, but stayed because Professor Shoemake made me love Shakespeare. He cares so much and you can feel that in the way he does the class and how he gives feedback and sees you as a real person, not just a student in a desk. If you can, take him.

Talon is one of the kindest professors I have had at LSU. I had a death in my family a week before finals, and he excused me. Genuinely such a fun class, and he is hilarious. I would take this class every semester if I could.

I loved his class. Before now, I was not interested in reading Shakespeare. This class made reading Shakespeare fun and innovative. I am a huge Taylor Swift fan, and this Professor connected Shakespeare to Swift songs, which kept me invested in the class. Spontaneous activities were added that kept the class engaged. Talon cares about us a lot.

Mr. Shoemake makes you think, which I enjoyed a lot. The class itself was pretty fun, and I got to learn about Taylor Swift! For those who aren't a fan of Swift though, you'll like the Shakespeare aspect of the course because Mr.Shoemake digs really deep into some of Shakespeare's work. Like I said, he makes you think.

This was my second class with Talon and he is genuinely one of my professors from 4 years at LSU. Textbook is online and free, the assignments are interesting and captivating, and the class has fun conversations around Shakespeare. Highly suggest taking any class with Talon, but you can tell this class is his baby and it makes a difference.

Proffessor Talon truly cares about his students. He is passionate about the material being covered in class. Talon Shoemake is a great English teacher, who gives minimal work and isn't a strict grader. I only had 5 major writing assignments, each of which I had adequate time to work on and complete in a timely effective manner. Whenever you email him he's likely to get back to you within the next 2 hours. Also, he's extremely helpful and easy to talk too.

Assignments are spaced out with plenty of time, the only homework is our papers, so no busy work. Also allows a mental health day. But he grades harshly on presenting, if you're nervous it doesn't matter.

Professor Shoemake was great! Only a few essays are due and he is lenient on deadlines. I hate writing and received A's on all my papers. You do have to do a 15-minute presentation, but it is interactive, so you only talk for 5-7 minutes. Take this course if you don't want homework and unnecessary busy work!

I enjoyed this class a lot, very nice professor and actually enjoyable work. If you have to take english 200 you should take him! Grades are mainly based off papers that arent graded harshly, minimal hw, a presentation, and attendance.

Shoemake is very caring/willing to help. When needed he will take the time to explain assignments to students. As well, if you care enough to work on improving your grade he is beyond willing to help make corrections if you apply yourself. The structure of his course make it easy to be interested in what your are learning about and go to class.

Shoemake is a very kind and thoughtful professor, he is very clear on what he expects from you in what he assigns and responds very quickly if you need assistance with anything. The one thing I did not enjoy about the structure of his class were the group assignments, but I must admit he was original in the ones he assigned.
