Great class. She really helps you.. a lot of class participation and attendance is mandatory. She brings great guest speakers.. midterm and final are online at home.. I recommend this class
Professor Casso is a really laidback teacher. She is really nice. A lot of the course involves participation and she brings guest speakers once in a while. She gives two tests and requires one 8 page paper. I recommend anyone to take her class! Just do what she asks and you will do fine.
She has a very interesting teaching style she likes the class to do a lot of group stuff in class she uses real life applications which is great but her tests are from the book material only and nothing from what we talk about in class her tests are hard but do the review and you'll be fine.
This was the easiest class ever. Lots of guest speakers that are interesting, 2 online open book/note exams, a personal reflection paper and various group work presentations. Attendance is mandatory. She does lecture from her power points, so all you have to do come test time is print them out. I'm taking her again this fall.
She never did her job! I learned nothing!!She would require us to be there, but she would cancel class with no notice.open book test, so you never needed to be there.
I learned a lot! Attendance is mandatory, but there are always lively conversations and good guest speakers. 2 open-test exams and a reflection paper. Show up and you'll do fine.
Casso is a great professor who is passionate about what she does. there are many great speakers and the class itself involves a lot of group effort each class.
I took her Mexican Immigration&US. Class is a ton of reading, but it was very interesting material. Attendance is required. Class time is typically discussions about the reading assigned or group activities. We watched a few films, too. No busywork or crazy exams -- the big focus in the class is attendance & your final paper. She's cool, take her.
I took her for soc 2023. Her class is very easy all you have to do is go to class everyday took only one midterm which was open book and you could do it at home. Her final is a research paper. Attendance is majority of your grade. Overall it's an easy course easy A.
Group work is a huge part of this class so do NOT skip class. Attendance is mandatory and is a huge part of the grade. There is a research paper due at the end of the semester that she does not explain how to do. I thought this was going to be a cool class but she expects you to learn on your own. Very disappointed by this class. Overall, easy A.
This class was disappointing because I was really looking to possibly minor in Sociology and she ruined it for me. Lectures were extremely boring! She would put videos of other people teaching and do group work so we could teach each other. Only one online Midterm and one very confusing research paper. Easy A, but wouldn't recommend for learning
She's an okay professor. The final paper was an easy grade. Her format is fine for upper-level Sociology classes like this one, but I think it's way too much for a non-Sociology major taking one of her lower-level classes as a social science credit to write a 15 page qualitative research paper.
By far one of the EASIEST classes ever. She does do a midterm and a 15 page research paper, but I got a 100 on that paper, she grades so easy and I did it the day before it was due. Haha. Shes so easy to talk to and will help with whatever you need. The class is also very interesting. Enjoyed this class and the Casso very much. Highly recommend!
Structure of the class was centered around reading 3 books and discussion in class. This would have been fine if other people actually read. Assignments were great though: blogs on the readings and one final qualitative paper. She's pretty flexible on how you choose to structure your assignments.
I LOVE PROFESSOR CASSO! I am taking her 3 more times in the Fall. You need to show up everyday to class to pass. You will fail if you skip. Midterm is online and final is a 15 page paper which she does not grade hard. No homework or assignments. However, there is group work and she's not very clear lol.
I loooove Casso. I took her for social problems my first year, and now in my senior year for Food and Culture. She isn't very difficult, she just asks that you truly think and care about what you write. Follow the minimal criteria, and care about what you're writing and you'll get an easy A
Shes very genuine and seems to care about her students. Before class, she has an attendance sheet we have to sign with all of our ID pictures on it, and tries to remember everyone. So skipping class isn't a good idea. She likes it when people speak up and participate in class. Her exams for my class were online with unlimited attempts and were easy
I really liked professor Casso up until the end of the semester. She gave so much work that she couldn't even keep up with the grading. She ran out of time to grade and even though the blogs were clearly there and submitted on time she would not count them. I would NEVER take her again!
I'm in the topics: food and culture class. It's pretty chill. Just a lot of reading. No tests no quizzes. Just a set of blogs we have to do, it's not too bad. And finally a 15 page research paper about food.
She has absolutely no control of her class. Everyone is always speaking over her and being loud and disruptive. She's not a terrible teacher, she'll work with you and talk to you but doesn't seem to know what she wants and it affect your grade. it's ALOT of reading and very time consuming. wouldnt take her again.
Super easy class. She reads straight from the book during class so no need to buy it unless you want to take your own notes outside of class. There's only 4 exams and attendance for grades, but the exams are unlimited attempts. She doesn't come to class on fridays so an SI teaches and that's pretty annoying but other than that its a good class.
A blessing. She is one of the few professors I have come across in college that genuinely wants you to learn and succeed as a student. She is accessible outside of class and very kind to talk to, no matter the topic of discussion.
Although we have different political opinions and views, Professor Casso is a deeply caring person with good intentions and a big heart. She wants her students to pass and is very passionate about what she teaches. If you are concerned with social issues and learning about society, this would be a good class to take.
This is the easiest prof I've had. We have 4 tests and they're all online. There's no homework or anything so the book isn't necessary. On each test, you have infinite attempts and it's open for almost two days. She knows a lot about the material so she makes it pretty easy to learn. Attendance is over half the grade so you have to show up.
Very easy class! Only has 4 tests throughout the semester and they are all on Blackboard. Tests are 50 questions and all multiple choice. You don't go to class on test days. Doesn't assign homework. Towards the end of the semester, she will give extra credit opportunities. Overall, she's a very sweet teacher and would definitely take again!
not caring for the student. Don't care enough to help them, everything in the class I straight out of her notes. The class was boring, I missed a test due to personal reason and she don't care enough to let me take it again, I feel like she look down on me. I wouldn't take the class again, I'll try avoid taking her class
Professor Casso is amazing she gives very engaging class lectures, pay attention and youll be fine the test are straight from the text book its an easy A if you put forth the right effort.
Awesome professor she cares about her students and has lectures that don't put you to sleep! In this class we had a presentation on our final research paper, she was a tough grader, but she didn't hesitate to help and answer any questions before hand!
I took social problems and I have to say its probably the easiest class ever, she's a really nice professor and cares about her students so don't be afraid to take her class the lectures are pretty interesting.
Loved this class, especially since I'm a CRJ major. It most definitely helped me. I would recommend her to anyone.
The professor was OK but I absolutely did not enjoy the subject matter. Totally boring and did not mean my expectations.
I've taken Professor Casso for 4 different classes. She cares about her students and takes time to help students pass her class with an A. Her exams are easy. You don't need the book at all, but it helps to follow along in class.
very great and inspirational professor
Prof Casso is truly a gem of a teacher who cares about her students and genuinely wants them to do well! I've taken her twice already and am taking another class of hers next semester. She's one of the best professors I've had. No frills, just show up and pay attention and she also lets you do unlimited retakes of the online tests.
Professor Casso teaches this class as a Graduate level course therefore ton of work is expected. Excellent opportunity for those pursuing Masters Degree in the future. Otherwise, enroll same undergrad course class with a different professor!
A teacher who is OPEN to new ideals and enjoys interactions. Be sure you read your stuff, which should be a common sense thing for COLLEGE.
Professor Casso is a nice lady, I just don't think she's a very good teacher. This class has that whole "different" thing going for it but mostly it has no structure, and no written information to tell you what she expects. She mostly goes by word of mouth. You basically teach yourself. My advice is do not take classes with her if you can help it.
You're graded on 5 exams which are incredibly simple. She's such a sweetheart and really worked with me when life got in the way of me being able to do my exams. I love her class so much that I'm taking 2 more of her online courses next semester! You cannot fail this class, I promise you!
Took her online course and I couldn't be happier. There is no homework only 5 tests. The tests are straight from the book so read and you will be great. She provides 48 hrs and multiple attempts on the tests. She has even opened up the tests multiple extra days. You literally could not fail.
5 Test, the textbook is not needed for the online course, useful study guides available on Quizlet or studyblue If you are genuinely wanting to retain information then do not take this course.
Professor Casso is one of the best professors at this university. She cares about all of her students and wants everyone to pass. The course itself is very easy and informational. Although, the only thing you are graded on are the 5 tests she has, she allows multiple attempts and allows you to take it until you receive the grade you want.
Prof Casso is a nice woman but not a great teacher. Her lectures were all over the place and hard to follow. Although she made attendance mandatory, I honestly don't feel like I would've missed anything important if I had skipped. Your final grade is based off of very few assignments, but don't expect her to help you when grades are concerned.
Read the book and you will be fine. Very interesting class if you are taking it for the correct reasons. Easy A, only 5 tests all semester (online class) .
Loved her lectures, she is one of the best professors I have had, easy to communicate with and work with.
One of the easiest professors Ive taken! Literally just read her PowerPoints and the chapters that are assigned and youll get an A on the exam. If you need this as an elective class definitely take it! The professor is also easy to communicate with and cares about her students
If you are looking for an easy lower division class to count as an elective, take this class. It doesn't require homework and allows multiple attempts on the few exams that are spread throughout the semester.
Easiest class I have ever taken. I reviewed the PowerPoint slides to study for exams. She gives you unlimited attempts to make an A on the exams with a 48-hour window to complete them. I actually learned so much in this class! I'm a Bio major and took this as an elective. The perfect class to take as a "blow-off" while you boost/maintain your GPA.
This is a course she taught at the height of the pandemic. While she was semi-understanding, anytime students made it known of their situations, HER willingness to grade or timeline trumped all concerns and instances. She made attendance MANDATORY in the middle of a global pandemic. Her schedule > her life.
4 exams and are all incredibly easy! You cannot fail this course lol
If you have to take core classes, TAKE THIS PROFESSOR RIGHT NOW! She makes it really easy for you. You are graded by only a few tests, and you can take them as many times as you want until you get the grade grade you want! I wish I could give her 10 stars, honestly. She's super nice as well!
Great class, the professor was very motivational and did a great job on checking on us weekly. I recommend taking her classes, if you need an online class the due dates and expectations are clear. Professor Casso is a solid choice.
Prof Casso is amazing! She truly cares about her students and is very supportive. Her tests are straight from the book and you can use your notes. If you don't make an A it would have to be because you simply didn't take the test. She does make the lessons interesting and you're graded on only 4 tests! Easy, yet fun and interesting class!
The class was the easiest A of the semester. Basically, read the chapters. Take notes. Take the test. That was it. There were not any meaningful discussions and I thought this class would be a lot more fun and inspiring with constructive criticism and discussions but no. Read the book, take the test. I can't believe I paid for this.
I took her for Intro to Social Research and her class wasn't too bad so I took her again for Qualitative Research and honestly the class was too much! All we did was take notes on the chapters and write a 15 page research paper. Her feedback is not clear at all and is very misleading. She does not give clear instructions as to what she wants! 0/10
Test heavy with plenty of opportunity to improve your grade.
Only 4 exams, so be ware. other than that this course is easy, just watch the lectures and keep up with the dates
Class was fairly easy. All you need to do is read the textbooks/ the power points and the exams are based off on them. Grades are made up of the 4 exams with no extra credit. Don't worry though, exams allow multiple tries and she will usually open them the exam on a later date if needed to retake. Seems to care about her students doing well.
This course consisted of ONLY 4 exams. DO NOT MISS AN EXAM. The exams are easy just read the chapters or read QL.. This class is super easy.
just exams
She is amazing! So articulate and so clear with her expectations. Honestly, you have to do your part (that's the whole point, duh). She keeps the class engaged and is obviously passionate about teaching. Graded by journal entries and a qual research project! She really makes you think lol
I think Tamara is a great professor. I liked that she had it to where you can take the tests as many times as needed. However, I didn't like that you couldn't see what you missed. I also didn't like that her questions were a little off topic, meaning that they weren't consistent with the chapters. So I wasn't sure what she was asking.
Online course are graded by 4 Exams covering 3-4 chapters. One of the easiest courses I have taken.
Class was only 4 tests and allowed for unlimited attempts to get the grade you want. The tests are open for two days, so there is plenty of time to take them. Book is free to access which helps during tests. Very easy class I would take professor again, not much to do for this class.
Took online in summer very easy class based off 4 easy test that are unlimited tries :)
I took her for Drugs and Society and she really only gave 5 tests the whole semester and never gave any homework. She also didnt take attendance but she said that might change next semester.
She was a really fun and nice professor. I took her Drugs and Society class, and for me it was difficult. She only grades by a couple of tests, so it is hard to turn your grade around if you fail.
One of the easiest classes I've taken at UTSA. Clear grading with only 4 exams that you're graded on, and you can retake them as many times as you'd like before the deadline. The material is easy to understand, and she helped us stay engaged with the material by sharing current events going on related to the course. I recommend!
I was a bit intimidated by course title, "Qualitative Research Methods" at first, BUT Prof. Casso's in-person lectures were AMAZING! I HIGHLY recommend this class! Follow and trust the PROCESS and you will pass. Prof is available to help. She wants everyone to pass, but you've got to participate! Has NOTHING to do with statistics! Enjoy!
The class was asynchronous so if I wanted to work ahead or with the course could have that option. Gave multiple attempts at quizzes and assessments which was kind. Confusing at times on the grading in comparison to the material. YOU NEED THE BOOK! Not so much the associated online materials but the complimentary materials were so educational.
This class is completely asynchronous. You will need to buy the textbook. The professor allows multiple attempts on tests and quizzes. No extra credit. Not a difficult class, the material is easy to understand. However, she is not understanding at all! If you miss an assignment (even for medical reasons) she will not let you make anything up.
If you are conservative, recommend you do not take. Attendance mandatory. Lovely woman and discussing the readings were fine, but has no quizzes or tests. Writings on the hw & final paper. I was confused the entire time, even after talking to her, and she made me feel incompetent/it should just be easy. I did not learn through her kind of teaching.
Work consists of projects and a research paper. Instructions and guidelines are NOT clear. Many of us were confused the whole time and she got defensive when I brought it up. She made this class harder than it had to be.
This class was the easiest class I have ever taken. The whole course consisted of a canvas quiz for each module with 10 questions each and unlimited attempts and then a test at the end of every 4 modules. I don't remember anything I learned, but I don't even mind cause it's an elective course and I didn't have to worry about it all semester.
She was readily available to students, open about her class requirements and wants her students to succeed.
IN 18 YEARS OF BEING IN SCHOOL, NEVER EXPERIENCED A PROFESSOR LIKE TAMARA CASSO! DON'T BELIEVE THE REVIEWS! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR! SHE CLAIMED I LEARNED NOTHING IN HER CLASS DESPITE PASSING BEFORE THIS INCIDENT! SHE CLAIMED THAT I USED AI GENERATORS FOR THE FINAL PAPER! SHE REFUSED TO GRADE MY PAPER! 0/10!! GET ANY OTHER PROFESSOR!
Professor gives insane amount of assignments. Is not inclusive towards students for have trouble accessing the technology needed to complete assignments. Not very understanding at all. Save your mental health and do not take this class. If you do, prepare yourself for a couple of mental breakdowns as she is not helpful.
Assignments were consistently challenging, not because of their complexity, but due to the unclear instructions provided. She demonstrated a blatant disregard for students' time and educational needs, offering little to no assistance or clarification when requested.Would not recommend this professor.
This class was graded on weekly quizzes and four unit tests. You could take the quizzes many times until you get a 100, and the test questions were from the quizzes. You don't have to read the textbook to pass, but it provides interesting information. Professor Casso was very clear about deadlines and announced multiple times when things were due.
This was the best summer course I have ever taken, only 2 assignments per week with unlimited attempts. There is a textbook but I did not use it once. She is very nice and helpful, sends lots of reminders to get work done and gives you plenty of time to do so.
There were quizzes over every textbook chapter due every week, she offers many chances to take the quizzes which was a plus. Always sent reminders of quizzes or assessments days before and multiple times the day of. If you don't try you wont pass but this course was very simple and straight forward.
Professor Casso is a 10/10 professor! This class was such a great learning experience and really helped prepare me for grad school. I really enjoyed the blogs and the research paper, both were meaningful and well-structured assignments. Professor Casso expects a lot from her students, but she's always available to guide and support you.
Only B on my transcript and it was fully online, no proctor. 50 q. exam and 25 q. quiz every week. Difficult to get over 90% on anything and this class is just reinforcing the "victim" mentality and that every minority/immigrant feels opressed in america, not true, though if you have never heard of "zip code theory of race" you should take it. 5/10
Professor Casso was a great professor. There was a quiz every week due on Sunday at 11:59pm. There was also 4 unit assessments, but they were good as long as you read....but you can look them up online too. Just be cautious. That was really the only homework she gave and she always sent out reminders. Please take her if you need an easy class! :)
