I can't express the ways this class has blessed my life!! As cheesy as that sounds, I mean it! Admittedly, I was embarrassed to take this class, but I am so glad I did. I feel like a better person, and I feel like I can actually have a happy marriage - it isn't a myth, it isn't impossible! Please take this class, it is the best thing I did!

TAMMY IS AWESOME. I would recommend this class to anyone, single or married. She teaches so well, and it is life-changing information. There are quizzes at the beginning of each class that she uses for the final, so there is no final exam, which I liked. You can tell she really cares about her students and is very personal and up front. Take her!

Tammy's honestly the best! One of the best classes I have ever taken at BYU. Disregard people's negative comments. You get what you put into this class. If you skip or come late, you DO lose points, but this isn't Tammy's fault. That is your responsibility. DUH. I learned so much and was excited for every lecture. The papers are also useful! LOVE!

This class has really improved my perspective on marriage and relationships. Tammy is so passionate about the material, and she truly wants all of her students to be happy. She is very likable and friendly. Tammy is also good at teaching and handling sensitive topics. I always felt safe with her and would recommend this class to anyone.

Tammy has a wealth of knowledge about marriage, sexuality, divinity, and how it all ties together. I thoroughly enjoyed attending her class every week because I always learned something new. My only gripe about her is that on several occasions she quoted something or taught a point as if it were factual when, after doing research, it was not.

Tammy Hill is a stellar professor. She is funny, kind, and spiritual in her lectures which makes class interesting and rewarding. The assignments are unique and fun which means homework is a blast. This is a great class if you really want to learn and progress in your relationship knowledge.

Sister Hill is amazing. I have never had a teacher teach as honestly and openly as her and it was refreshing! I looked forward to her class and insights every day. Tammy is an amazing professor who is extremely knowledgeable! Her lectures are fun, interesting, and extremely insightful. I am taking this class for a family life minor elective, but I would recommend it to anyone! You learn so many concepts and skills that are extremely helpful in both relationships and personal progression!

Marriage Prep is a great class. I personally had some concerns about marriage, and I am very grateful for this course. I took it while I was engaged, and it was a great class that helped me prepare and start setting goals. They are a little nit-picky with grading, and you have to keep up with the projects. but overall, it is very applicable.

I have really enjoyed Tammy's Marriage Prep class. She is hilarious and cares a lot for her students. She's the type of teacher that I know would still do this even if she wasn't getting paid. I've learned a lot about how to have healthy relationships and more importantly a healthy relationship with my wife.

I love Tammy!! She is super funny and cares a lot about making sure that we really understand the material. I am grateful that I am taking this class right now because I think it will help me date better as I'm looking for a spouse. I'd recommend this class to anyone because Tammy is very passionate about making sure we have healthy relationships.

Tammy is incredible. While the reading can sometimes be redundant, the structure of this class really enables long-term learning. I don't feel stressed out by unfair assignments. The workload is very reasonable. My favorite aspect of this class is definitely the Experiential Learning assignment. It encourages students do unfamiliar things!

Tamara is a professor who knows her stuff! She is a family and marriage therapist and has good data and real life stories to back up the facts. She says it how it is and is so smart! I loved how realistic this class was in preparing me for marriage. The class is interesting and helped me to challenged myself when it comes to relationships.

Tammy is a fabulous Marriage Prep teacher! I've already learned so much! The Marriage Toolkit requirements are pretty hefty which can be a bit overwhelming, but she makes her grading criteria very clear. I really enjoy her lectures and her charisma.

I am currently taking Marriage Preparation from Tammy Hill and I would recommend her to anyone! She has such a unique background that helps her relate to a wide variety of students. Tammy is an awesome professor. I took this class just because I needed one more class on my schedule but I ended up really enjoying it. Even though it's called "Marriage Prep" the information you learn can be applied to all relationships. It's not too difficult if you come to class and do the assignments. I loved the class.

The reason I put a 3 level of difficulty is because Tammy's lectures really take you deep into the study of relationships and love. It takes a lot for a person to be so vulnerable and really understand the meaning of relationships and of personal and emotional well being. If I could take all my classes from Tammy I would because she cares.

Tammy is one of the funnest professors I have ever had. She makes each lecture interesting and super funny. There are quizzes each time after class, so just make sure to pay attention. Also the assignments are a lot of fun, and will get you out of your comfort zone. It's a great class! Definitely recommend taking.

I love this class way more than I anticipated. Tammy is such a good lecturer and provides insight to dating and marriage that everyone can benefit from. This is one of the few classes that I actually look forward to doing the reading assignments. The quizses are not easy, so much sure to read and don't forget to take them!

Instead of tests, you are expected to go out and actually get practice in what we talk about in class (go on dates, have vulnerable conversations, and take care of your mind and body). Before taking this class, I sat in on the lectures for an entire semester with a friend. I loved it so much that I decided to take the class myself! Tammy is very smart and so sincere, I leave every lecture feeling inspired and empowered. The class is all about relationships--with yourself, God, friends, family, significant others, etc. Take it!!!

Tammy is super down to earth. Her classes are always funny and super relevant. You pretty much get graded on how well you apply what you learn in real life, which is how teaching should be!

Probably one of the most important classes for your life. Called marriage prep but more a "relationship class" for single, engaged, or married people. I would recommend this class to everyone. Helped me understand myself better in dating. Assignments are minimal, attendance required, and no electronics.

The classes from the SFL have taught me more valuable things than any of my other classes. Tammy is better prepared to talk about difficult topics in marriage than anyone else I've met at BYU. She has heart, is direct, and is well-informed. It was a refreshing break from my other classes. A lot of the assignments are reflective or experiential.

Miss Hill is an amazing and inspirational speaker and everything she teaches is clear and makes sense with real stories to see lessons in action. She knows her stuff, the grading on big projects seems a little off but overall its a class that will move you to laugh till you cry or cry because you get it. 10/10

I have totally loved this class. It could easily be the class that most impacts my life after I graduate from BYU. Tammy says that if she could rename the class she would call it, "Personal and Relational Development," everything we do is very applicable to life and most of the class assignments are focused on applying them. Prof. Hill is one of a kind. She is caring, compassionate, and knows this subject up and down. You can ask her any question and she will answer honestly and sincerely. This is the greatest class taught by the greatest professor. Sister Hill is so honest and you can tell that she really believes and and cares about what she is teaching. There is an emphasis on learning and applying and because of that, the grade doesn't matter (although its easy to get an A if you do all of the assignments and come to class).

Tammy is wonderful. Her class is a class you will forever be grateful for! You learn the most important things and it is engaging and interesting. There are quizzes and "busy" type projects...I suggest just adding to the projects weekly and it wont be bad.

I've grown so much in this class. Tammy made it fun and worthwhile. She's lighthearted when appropriate, but respectful when teaching sensitive topics. I appreciated that she was vulnerable in class; it let us feel safe asking hard questions. In September I was scared to even date, but I feel confident asking people out and have a lot more fun now.

Great class, highly recommend. Tammy's lectures are great, with lots of useful material--I'll definitely be using things I learned from this class for the rest of my life. My only complaint is that Tammy doesn't let us use laptops to take notes (I can understand her point, but my notes are so much more legible and less lose-able on my computer).

Tammy was great at providing new ways of thinking about concepts and ideas! I love how in this class we didn't have any tests, just projects. I feel as though these allowed us to better put into practice the concepts we were learning in class! I am so glad I took this class with someone I know. Tammy is an LMFT (Licensed Marriage/Family Therapist) and she knows her stuff. She is blunt and her class should be required for all students at BYU. The principles she teaches applicable to any point in life. Class is required, there are also experiential assignments that force you to practice what you're learning.

SFL 223 isn't just for people in a relationship. I wasn't in a relationship and I learned great communication skills and what a functional marriage looks like. I didn't read a lot of the book, but there's great content in it. Worth the $. Daily quizzes based on readings from textbook, articles, and lectures (worth 30% of grade).

Tammy is the bee's knees. She is so passionate about the topics of marriage and relationships. She has so many great insights and experiences with relationships and marriage. There are daily quizzes that are based on the readings/class discussions, so make sure you read and go to class. Not a hard class at all. Take this class!

Tammy is great! She addresses important topics that are sometimes a bit awkward in an approachable way. I actually looked forward to coming to class! There are no midterms or a final, you just have to complete a meaningful project and write a paper on it. Take this class, I feel like it is the most practically helpful class I have taken at BYU!

Sister Hill is one of the best prof's I've ever had! Her lectures are life changing and she isn't afraid to talk about everything! Even if you aren't currently planning on getting married I would recommend her class. You will not regret it. One of the best classes on campus.

Tammy is THE BEST! I signed up for her class with my fiancé and we got married in the middle of the semester. We have applied so much of what she taught to our relationship. Tammy is a professional councilor which means that she brings a lot of practice and experiences into the classroom. Frankly taking this class is once in a life time. When else in your life are you going to get an opportunity to learn about marriage from an LDS therapist? This class gives you the oppertunity to form opinions so make sure you use it!

This a bit difficult for the subject matter covered, some things are quite vague and hard to remember. Some assignments are graded much too harshly. However, she's a great lecturer and tells some great stories, and the course is good at what it says, in prepping you for marriage.

She has a lot of background and experience from practicing marriage therapy as well as her own life so she tells a lot of stories that connect to what you learn in class. Her class is really fun to be in and you will learn a lot. Class and reading will be a must for a good grade.

And if you aren't even close to getting married, her class will still benefit you, I promise. I feel so prepared for marriage, even more than I ever thought I could be. Tammy is the best professor I've had at BYU. She's super funny and very passionate about the subject she teaches. As an MFT she has a lot of real-world experience to give insight to her lectures, and is engaging and manages to make every class interesting.

Tammy was very good! She was open and honest and the class really helped people understand how to become prepared for marriage. Every once in a while she would say something that some students disagreed with but just take it all in stride and you should be good! Daily quizzes, physical note taking, no final and a toolkit on each of the 5 units.

I decided to take Marriage Prep (aka "Self and Relational Development) so that I could understand what makes a successful marriage work. Tammy talks about "sensitive subjects" with clarity, perspective, and great respect. I can't imagine getting married without having taken this class!! Quizzes after every class, lots of readings (but all so good!)

Tammy is a ton of fun, down to Earth, and is not afraid to give you her opinion. Be ready to talk about some touchy subjects... but don't worry, she navigates it all gracefully. Attendance is mandatory but you'll enjoy the class so much, you won't want to skip. Not married, but I'm glad I took it before leaving BYU.

I loved taking marriage prep from Tammy! I took this class because I was a little nervous after I got engaged, but this class helped answer a lot of my questions and concerns. I loved how straight forward she was with us. She was able to apply the concepts to people who who were single, engaged and married. I think everyone should take this class!

Tammy's Marriage Prep class was one of the most practical classes i've had while at BYU. Everyone should take it before graduating. It is an easy A and the advice she gives and things you learn are awesome!

She is very knowledgeable, she is kind and caring. The class is an easy A... Just read the material, attend class and take notes regularly like she asks you to in order to turn in your journal-type of assignments. Because I am a SFL major I did not learn a ton of new information but I don't regret it. She and the content make you a better human!

I am taking this class because I have heard a ton of good things about it. One thing that I like so far is that I feel the Spirit a lot in her class. I have felt the Spirit more in her class this semester than I have in any of my religion classes. The readings that she assigns are VERY helpful and self-revealing.

I LOVE Professor Hill. She is very knowledgeable about marriage and she gives the best lectures. You need to do the readings and come to class to do well on the quizzes. All the assignments are for your benefit and are super fun to do. They are stretching but they are all helpful and fun.

Going to her lectures are some of my favorite parts of my week. She prepares very well for them and I leave with a significantly greater knowledge about myself and how to interact with others than when I enter. It is easy to do well in the class because the grading is very clear on all of the assignments.

Great class. There are a lot of assignments (quizzes after each class period, big experiential assignment, marriage tool kit assignment, big assignment for final). She does a good job of breaking this up to help you not procrastinate until the last minute. Take this if you're willing to put in the time to read and attend class with an open mind!!

This is a great class for getting you out of your shell. She forces you through projects to put yourself out there and get to know people. It really helps you with your relationships with others whether that be marriage, seriously dating, or just acquaintances with. If you aren't in a relationship it will be good knowledge to have for the future.

Tammy is great professor, but sometimes I felt like she took her opinions a bit too far. I enjoyed her class, but in my mind there is a bit more hype then deserved for the class overall. But I am grateful because the class made me think and grow. Worth taking, but don't set unrealistic expectations for the class.

She is an amazing professor that focuses on your experience in and outside of class. There are no tests, outside of quizzes which can be overly specific, but there are no surprises. All of the assignments are designed to help you become a better person and reach your potential. I super recommend taking this course whether or not you are married!

She is very specific in the way she lectures and expects people to pay attention in the way that she dictates (i.e. no phones, laptops, or other technology) which I actually really respect! Tammi is amazing! I started the course thinking this is going to be like Bishops marriage sermon at church.. BUT it was so much more! Not only did we learn about the importance of marriage, but how to have genuine relationships with those around us. She loves helping people and you can totally feel that in her classroom.

This class is phenomenal. I've learned so much that will significantly impact my life in the most important ways. I was always hesitant to take marriage prep because I didn't want to be that girl, but I am so glad I did. On the first day of class, Tammy said that she'd call it Self and Relational Development. That's exactly what it is. SO GOOD.

This is one of my favorite classes that I've taken so far. What I love the most about this class is that it's probably the most applicable to my life. Most of the classes I'm taking are just cramming information for a test that I'll forget about immediately after. But Tammy's class is focused less on memorization and more on lifelong learning.

Professor Hill is extremely passionate about her class and has put in a lot of time in creating her lectures. She cares more about each student and their development than giving out difficult readings or quizzes. Her class is set up very well to gain experience and not just be tested on things. If you want to ACTUALLY do the things you're asked to, this class can be super enlightening. I LOVED the reading! Do it! Material from Healthy Sexuality and Eternal Families through SFL overlaps. Tammy is engaging, inspirational, and raw.

This class was incredible! I would recommend it in an instant to anyone, getting married or not. This class really challenges you to get out of your comfort zone and enjoy new things in life. If you want a class will actually change your life and make you a better person (more fun and more spiritually rounded) this is the class for you!

SFL 223 (Preparation for Marriage) was an amazing class. Tammy incorporates academic and religious sources in readings and really knows and cares what she's talking about. There's a bit of outside work (experiential assignments) that you do, but it's fun and gets you out of your comfort zone in a good way. Just be open to doing new things!

This class was the most terrifying class I could take due to my own fears around relationships and marriage. I'm so glad I took it from Tammy. She has incredible real-world experience and is able to communicate that to students. I experienced a great deal of personal healing taking this class. First off this class is meant to develop your character in preparation for future relationships and I would have no one else teach me this then Tammy Hill. I loved Tammy! She seriously is on of the coolest professors I've had at BYU. Her lectures are amazing, full of some incredible stories. Some of the homework was a little tedious and the daily quizzes were actually really difficult but such a great class that is worth taking for sure!

She's so down to earth, and is just real (and is definitely not shy or afraid to talk about literally anything). Honestly if you let it this class will change your whole life. Take it! You don't have to be engaged or in a relationship!!

Professor Hill is absolutely incredible! I leave every class inspired to be a better person. Her lectures are engaging, the course is manageable (there's not even tests!), and the assignments are actually fun! There are papers and experiential assignments that are meaningful and simple to complete. I would highly recommend this class!

Tammy is an absolutely gem! She genuinely cares about her students' success in dating and marriage. The class is very manageable, entertaining, and useful. No tests, but there are quizzes after each class. She expects us to live what we learn, and the assignments reflect that. I think that everyone at BYU should take this class!

Tammy is a great teacher. She shares experiences from both her marriages, her children's marriages, and her clients in ways that are appropriate and sensitive, but highly educational. Blends religious and scientific views in an understandable way. Fun class but very hands on work. You will need time to work on her assignments outside of class.

Sister Hill is a great professor. She is not afraid to be blunt, but I think that is really good for the material that she is discussing. The lectures are the best part of the course. Her quizes reference class a lot, and those make up a large portion of your grade, so don't skip out. You won't have any tests in this class, but will have projects.

I loved Tammy's class. I'm already married and was worried the course wouldn't have much to offer but I can happily say there was plenty of great advice given that benefitted my marriage. There are some really great skills to develop in this class. Be prepared to be out of your comfort zone and to gain some terrific life and relatioship skills.

Tammy shocked me by being so genuine and caring for all her students. She teaches very large classes but still shows she cares for each and every student. She is hilarious and also very blunt. This is the best class I have ever taken at BYU and it has inspired me to turn my life around and make better and healthier decisions in my life.

Marriage Prep with Tammy was the Best! My Fiance and I took it together, and it was incredible informative. The class is a great blend of the spiritual and psychology. You can tell when Tammy talks she knows what she is talking about. There is reading and a quiz on the lecture material every day, but if you listen they're not that bad.

Tammy Hill is one of the most fantastic professors I know! She is very sincere in her lectures and does a wonderful job at creating a safe environment to talk about vulnerable topics, such as mental illness and sexual relationships. I love her honesty and the integrity which she shows in class and off campus . I highly recommend Tammy's class!

Tammy Hill is great! She cares deeply about the material she teaches, and emphasizes in her class the importance of applying what we learn into our daily lives. Applying those things is where your grade comes from; there are no tests, but there are quizzes and assignments. I'm so grateful I took this class because of the personal growth I gained.

I didn't really understand why it was so important in the Church, but HOO BOI I understand SO MUCH NOW. Do the readings, don't procrastinate on the projects and you'll be GOLDEN!

TAKE THIS CLASS. PLEASE. It is probably the most helpful class I will ever take. Tammy is so fun and kind and SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE IS TALKING ABOUT. This class will enrich your life and relationships so much. It has changed my perspective on everything.

One of the most spiritually uplifting classes I've had at BYU! Tammy is such a great professor and cares about all of her students. She is down to earth and approachable! The lectures are amazing, but the quizzes are fairly difficult. There isn't a final in the class, but there are about three big projects you do throughout the semester. TAKE THIS!

Tammy is one of the best professors I've had so far in my college career! She really has no reason to be teaching other than her dedication to helping students, and it shows in the way she teaches. Preparation for Marriage is a great class. I never thought I would say this, but I almost wish it were a GE at BYU. As Tammy says, we put so much focus on preparing for a mission, but that's not even a saving ordinance! We should prepare that much more for marriage. With that in mind, I would highly recommend taking this class. You won't regret it.

This class was so inspiring. Not only is this class important for any student, but it is all about the experience. I loved learning from Tami and her lectures . The class is built to get outside your comfort zone, but that only means you get to learn even more.

The title "Marriage Prep" is a misnomer. Much of the class is directed to people who are not yet involved in a relationship. Great and applicable lectures. Take this class early so that all of it applies to you rather that only a portion of the material.

I really enjoyed Tammy's lectures and I learned a lot more than I was expecting. She makes sure that everyone is comfortable, the readings are meaningful, and lecture is always fun. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but there were weekly quizzes to make sure people come and pay attention. All-in-all, not too hard of a class and a good experience.

However, the principles I learned in Marriage Prep I will use throughout the rest of my life. Her lectures are informative and awesome. Don't take if you aren't willing to challenge yourself.

Tammy is a wonderful teacher and a wonderful person. She isn't scared to give her opinions on topics and dive straight into the hard topics. One of the best parts of taking her Preparation for Marriage class is that you really start to soak up her passion for good marriages. This class is helpful for more than marriage--it's helpful for life.

Dr. Hill is such an inspired Professor. Everything assigned in the class is for a reason. It is a class where students grow, develop, and mature. Everyone should take this class even if they don't need the credits. It was a life changing experience for the better! She is very clear on requirements and is not afraid to tell it as it is.

Tammy is so awesome! There are definitely a lot of readings in this class, but all of them are actually really insightful and beneficial. Quizzes are easy IF you go to class and do all the completed readings. Assignments can be a little tedious, especially when you're heavy with other classes, but still fun to do.

Tammy is a great teacher. She is funny and real and has great advice about relationships in general (including, of course, marriage). I learned a lot and loved the class. Would definitely recommend. Easy A too.

Tammy is the queen. There's a quiz due at midnight after each lecture based on both the readings and the lectures which aren't always the easiest, but if you do the readings or listen in class (she's a fantastic and engaging lecturer so that won't be difficult), then you'll be fine. No tests, but the projects help you grow personally and socially.

She is probably my favorite professor at BYU. She just gives you the REAL facts and advice for marriage. She doesn't filter too much, she is honest and helps you learn a ton. The readings are incredible, I learned so much. The class is fun! Lectures are a blast, and assignments are very applicable.

If you want to do well on the quizzes you need to come to class. There is no final, so that is nice. The final is a paper that is doable. There are a lot of assignments and a lot of reading (if you do the reading).

Tammy has tons of experience with Marriage and Family therapy: she knows her stuff. She makes lectures entertaining and sometimes I don't want them to end! What she talks about sometimes make me stressed, but marriage/dating are difficult subjects so that's to be expected. She's helped me get answers to things that have concerned me for a long time

Tammy's great! One of the best classes I've taken. One of the cool things about the class is that there isn't any tests or exams, just experiential assignments. Ranging from going up to someone random and ask them out on a date to taking relationship quizzes to improve your current relationships. Great class, take it!

Tammy may be my favorite professor at BYU. She is authentic, passionate about what she teaches, and really cares for her students. The best part about this class to me were are all the experiential learning assignments. Some of them really required me to get out of my comfort zone but helped me meet and form connections with some incredible people

Tammy is a great professor who really cares about her students. She knows the material that she teaches well and wants to help others understand it and use it to better their lives. She is very respectful and thoughtfully prepares her lessons to help students learn. Her class taught me a lot without making me too stressed by assignments.

Take this class if you are worried about getting married or if you are wanting to improve your marriage. If you feel like you're already very happy in marriage, you might find a few nuggets here and there... but the rest of the class will be kind of boring. The readings are good, lectures aren't very useful though. Not too many assignments.

The assignments are very easy. She really wants you to apply what you are learning so you actually get something out of the class. She is super funny but also super spiritual. The quizzes are not hard if you actually do the readings which most kids don't do so they think they are hard. Readings are enjoyable. I think this class should be a general.

My biggest advice in taking marriage enhancement is to TAKE IT WITH YOUR SPOUSE. The weekly assignments involve your spouse and since my husband goes to UVU, he's basically been doing all the assignments with me for no credit. Your spouse is going to be doing the homework, so if they go to BYU, have them take the class and get credit for it.

I took this course in my last semester because of the ratings on this website. Tammy is the most wonderful teacher I've ever been lucky enough to learn from. I've been single as hell my whole life but I loved and learned so much from marriage prep. If you need it for credit, take it. If you don't, do yourself a huge favor & audit. Best class ever

Not too hard. I looked forward to her engaging lessons. She cares so much! Quizzes are fairly easy if you do the reading guides just kind of a lot of reading sometimes, but interesting reading from marriage books. No exams was nice. You must go to class to get journal prompts (which I always forgot about). I recommend.

FAV CLASS AT BYU! You learn so much important and valuable information that you will carry for life! I wish everyone could take this class. I would leave class literally, sad that it was over because I could sit and learn from her all day! I also had the best TA! NO TEST, thankfully, if you are not a good test taker (like me). Tammy is amazing! This was her second-to-last semester teaching. She is knowledgeable and her lectures are awesome and get you to think. There is quite a bit of reading for the class but trust me, it is all valuable life knowledge, so you should do it. If you're considering taking this class, take it from Tammy!
