why is she so goddamn mean to anyone who isn't christopher walken?
She is so funny and you just have a ball in class. Although she is VERY strict about attendance.
Her class is tough for being a stupid artistic mode GER. You also have to attend 3 or 4 plays outside of class that usually suck. You can skip them and pass the class, but not easily. She tells you everything that's on the test ahead of time--a lot.
Tamara is one of the most interesting teachers I have ever had. What really made the class enjoyable was her acute sense of style, her keen intelect, and charismatic personality. It didn't hurt either that I was part of a VERY diverse class. We had a brit
She's a bit neurotic and sometimes her constructive criticism is a bit harsh, especially coming from someone who isn't a real actress. But the class is one of the most fun I have ever had.
<pinch>
This lady is on speed she is loud and out of her mind there is no sleeping in class and she is anial about being late
she's a nutcase and very out there but she is such a nice lady. plus she is super clear about the tests...there is NO WAY you can fail them since she gives you every single question and answer that will be on it.
I think that she is a good teacher! The director's book sounds a lot worst then it really is. She gives you the midterm and final questions! The only thing that sucks about this class is that you have to do 20 hours of work in the theater!!
I dont understand how someone who has never acted can teach acting. She is kinda crazy
Good lady, good class. Director's Book isn't as bad as if sounds. Lab hours are somewhat tedious, but not too bad. She is a ball of energy, makes class fun. Best part is she gives you all the test questions and answers. I highly recommend class and professor
she's crazy and scary at first, and she makes you warmup before class which is very annoying. But after the first month or so, you start actually acting and its a lot of fun, and she becomes pretty cool too. theres more work than youd think but it isnt that bad. Take this class you'll have a lot of fun. Start collecting can tabs now.
Segalla is supercool and her class is never boring. WARNING: play production includes 20 hours of service in the theatre department outside of class time. You are forced to work with the Theatre kids who are very snotty/snobby and seem to disdain your presence (like you want to be there.) Segalla is great though and kinda cute.
If you need an Intro to Acting Class, take her. She's kind of crazy and loud, but it keeps you awake. HUGE mid-terms and final, but she gives you all the questions and answers that will be on them, and hten has a big review and basically spells out what each question will be. Cancled class quite a few times. Thinks Christopher Walken is GOD.
I hated her oral interpretation class. This class was a public speaking requirement type class and all we did was act. We didn't learn anything about the basics of talking in front of crowds. We just did pointless monologues and poems. Don't take this class! By the way, she can't act either.
very nice. extremely helpful. attendance policy is kinda hard for an 8 am class. but you get used to it. great class. I loved how she ran it. I'd def take her again!
Funny, outgoing. Lots of standing-in-front-of-class assignments. Most focus on voice-presenting(?). Some require writing own poem & eulogy. Others are reading short stories/voice acting, memorizing monologues, debating, assuming she does the same assignments for each class. Final is a combo of 3 learned subjects w/ a specific theme.
A good class. The work load is deceptively heavy, but just keep on top of it. There is no such thing as a boring lecture in her class. My only critique is that she has you write papers, and she corrects them with a LOT of red. She is clearly not an English teacher, and her corrections on grammar are incorrect. She is not a reader or writer.
Probably my favorite professor EVER! Do not knock acting class before you try it! - I'm not big on standing up and talking in front of people, but she makes it easier and more fun! Definitely take her. YOU HAVE TO BE AN IDIOT TO GET LESS THAN A 'B'!
i loveee herr! who ever says shes a bad teacher is out of their mindd.I had her for intro to acting and it was a lot of fun and easy A. i would definitely recommend taking her and would absolutely take her again!
She'll make you think she's insane on day one. You'll be on the floor yelling at the top of your lungs but sometimes its fun and other times you feel bad bc she makes the person scream until they say it so the whole building can hear you. Skits aren't bad only 10 min and grades really easy. Make sure you do your journal stuff and you'll get an A
SHE ROCKS. Enough said.
Crazy lady, but very fun. Easy grader as long as you participate. All assignments are to be performed in front of the class. It sucks, but everyone's rooting for you so you get through it. You can get away with missing some classes as long as you're always there when you are supposed to perform.
Professor Segalla is great! Acting is hard, so expect to be doing some crazy things, especially with her. However she is really sweet and will help you out. Do the simple assignments, participate with a good attitude and you'll do fine. Two classes with her and I wish I was taking more - she's the best!
Very boring class you literally memorize useless facts and as long as you can keep it all in your head for the tests then you'll do fine. Once you walk out of the room you will never ever use this information. The whole improvisation part of the class was a little ridiculous since we had to do it 3 times even though on the syllabus it stated we onl
She is crazy but her class is pretty easy. Midterma and final are word for word from the notes.her quizzes are really hard but basically count for nothing. easy class to get an A in
Great teacher. I looked forward to go to this class everyday because she made it fun. You had to act on stage but you got used to it. We had to attend one play and she made sure everyone had a ride. I would take a class of hers in a heart beat.
It's not easy to get up in front of people, but just have fun with it and it's painless enough. My only complaints are that we didn't learn anything, like tricks and tips for it. And that there was some quiz about a movie that made no sense and was impossible to get a real grade on. It was my lowest grade ever, there was no way to study for it.
Segalla is awesome and her class is so easy. As long as you're okay with speaking/acting in front of the class you'll be fine. She's really encouraging and the projects are lots of fun. No book, no homework except for working on projects. We had one quiz and it was on a movie we watched in class. Take this class if you are a creative outgoing person!
Was put in this class against my will and full expected to drop it after the first day. SO glad i didnt. Shes funny, and easy grader, and her presentation assignments are fun. I am horrible at public speaking but i had so much fun in her class. highly recommend.
Pretty cool professor. Class is fun, doesn't even feel like work. Put your effort in and she will grade you very favorably. really liked her!
She was alright. Easy A as long as you actually try. Quiz on The Great Debaters with extremely specific questions, however, I don't know how important it is to your grade. No final. As long as you do the assignments and be lively and participate (everyone has to so there is nothing to be embarassed about,) then you'll get an A. No phones!!!!!!
6 presentations really easy one memorization sort of hard but easy class over all. group project final. NO PHONES. good movie. One quiz on a movie. can only miss 2 classes before loosing points.def take this class its easy and painless!!!
Great teacher for Oral Interp. Her class is based on presentations infront of the class with a lot of original work. Two speeches, poetry and a monologue. You just need to show up, follow directions, and present to get an A.
Professor Segalla is really nice. I had her for THEA210 and the class was pretty easy. I would recommend taking her class in order fulfill your spoken communication requirement.
Wouldn't highly recommend this class or professor. The class itself is a lot of work for an intro class, and she's a very picky teacher which is really annoying. She would often give us homework that was really tedious and that we really didn't learn anything from.
I like her. She's loud and energetic, be ready for that. The presentations are all pretty easy, there's six: a group debate, reading a children's story, your life story, a poem, contrasting monologues and a final group project. Show up, participate and and don't let her see your phone for an easy A. Strongly recommended instead of public speaking.
very easy class, and she is very nice person, and even though your work may not be good she will give you credit just for trying.
TAKE HER. Not only is her class extremely easy, but it's very fun! She has 6 projects, 1 quiz on a movie, and has you watch 2 plays. There's never homework. She's a very easy grader, and is also supportive, understanding, and helpful if you need it. If you're looking to fulfill your spoken communication requirement, take this over public speaking!
A really easy class as long as you being in front of people isn't your worst nightmare. Hands down better and easier then public speaking. She's a pretty nice lady in the beginning of the year as the year goes on she seems have got less helpful and tougher. Just make sure you don't skip on the day you are suppose to go or you WILL get a zero.
Prof Segalla was the best professor I've ever had. She mad lectures fun, she's caring, and it's an easy A. I would recommend that every students takes her class
If you're serious about acting, take her in serious classes beyond 101. If you're just trying to get an art credit out of the way, she is NOT FOR YOU. Requires a lot of unnecessary binder work that won't benefit you in any way. Does not check the content of what is written, but will drop a letter grade if your words aren't BOLDED correctly. BEWARE!
Tons of projects in this class, but it is an easy A for sure if you do what you are supposed to do. Skipping on performance days is not a good idea because you will not be allowed to go later on. This class is relatively easy, just do what you are supposed to do.
Super fun and easy class. Do your work on time and you'll be fine.
I absolutely loved professor Segalla! I had her for Public Speaking, and she was funny, compassionate, and really cares about the success of her students. I would love to take another class with her. Make sure you show up to class and do your homework, and you should be fine.
Professor Segalla's motto is "if you do not show, you do not go and you get a big fat zero!" She is strong on attendance, but spices things up with her humor. She WILL demand participation, but if you follow her syllabus you will be fine. Pretty simple class, only had 2 quizzes all semester and no tests. Lots of projects, she made it fun!
She's a pretty good professor. Has good humor, but sometimes got out of hand. For the most part, if you follow her rubric EXACTLY! as it's written, you'll get a good grade. Take her advice seriously because she will grade you on it later. Required to buy book, use it rarely and pointlessly. Six presentations and two open note movie quizzes (HARD!!)
Prof Segalla was my fave professor my first semester here. Loved her class so much! I always enjoyed coming in because she's hilarious and made theatre fun. The book is required, but with the book it's easy. Very clear what she's looking for and what's on exams. Multiple reviews for content on exams.
Having major social anxiety I went in to class with the best attitude possible, but immediately felt discouraged after the 1st presentation. She publicly roasted me in front of entire class... not even constructive criticism, just criticism that was unnecessary to share while I was standing on stage w 20 people staring at me. Didnt like her vibe.
Must show up to every lecture. Never use your phone during class or you might get zeroes for the day. You'll act a few times on stage. A couple of quizzes and a paper along with a midterm and final exam.
Class wasnt that hard but if you dont follow directions be ready to fail. On speech day if you didnt follow her outline exactly like making certain words bold she would not let you present and give you a zero. Bring book when she asks. Follow directions and youll pass. If youre a terrible speaker but show improvement youll still do well.
took her online class simply because it met my fine arts requirement. Always did the work on time and well. Judging by feedback she has given me on projects that I put all of my effort into, she expects students to invent things that have never been invented or seen before, all in one week. Very high and unrealistic expectations. Simply, rude.
Unforgiving, terrible. Caught using phone in class on day of paper turn in and got marked absent and paper rejected which was 40% of my grade. Automatic fail for getting seen with phone 1 time.
My friends told me to take her because she was awesome. I ended up having her for two classes and absolutely love her! She shares stories about life and knows a lot about theater. Would absolutely take her again!
Took her for one class ended up taking three! She is funny, and makes class fun. Projects are easy about your life, own poem, group debate and last project in group. Had a blast and def. take her again!
I took her for arts credit. Talks about Christopher Walken (he sounds like a crazy man!) but is funny and out there at times. Am taking her again for speaking class soon and can't wait! Goes over exam info so take notes and you'll do fine!
If you want to actually learn about theatre, don't take Segalla. She assumed no prior knowledge, despite half the class being theatre majors, and gave obviously wrong or outdated information all semester. Exam questions were obscure fun facts instead of what was actually in the lectures/book. Felt more like a game of Broadway trivia than a class.
I took Professor Segalla for theater history and learned so much! She makes the class fun with her way out sense of humor. All the test questions are in the book. Show up, take notes and you'll do fine.
I took this class and it was terrible. No matter how hard you tried, it seemed that she did not care about your effort. I would do my best on all my presentations and she literally ripped me apart for the dumbest little things. If her way isn't how it is, then to Don't take her class she is terrible.
Segalla is awesome! First I wasn't good at speaking in front of people but I asked her what I could do better on. Got a B- on first speech and an A on #2! If you follow what she says you'll pass. Projects help you get ready for life in real world. I loved her class so much I'm taking her again this semester. Just try and you'll do great! TAKE HER!
Super weird vibes at first. She definitely picks favorites and fixates on them. I was actually one of her favs and it was super obvious, but I got an A. She will tear you apart for the most random things and it's her way or the highway on assignments. She also types like an unhinged maniac. Would not take again.
Read reviews on Segalla's class and was so nervous. So glad I stayed in! She's weirdly funny and talks a lot on theater. One project was to make a poem. No clue what to say so decided on my anxiety. Terrified but got an A. Wants you to pass and crazy made us laugh. Would def take her again! Don't believe fake news reviews!
I've taken Mrs. Segalla a total of three times and let me tell you she's awesome. She's very direct about her expectations and will answer every question you have. Note that even if can't follow strict guidelines this might not be for you. Her classes are fun and very creative and if you follow directions everything is easy.
Best professor hands down! I'm graduating in May and have had her for 2 classes. Shes so funny and really does care about her students. Also answers all emails right away which is good especially now. I'm going to miss her lots and will def keep in touch. Take her and do the work. You won't regret this.
I would not take this Professor again. I took her online class and her rules are very strict. She doesn't care about her students outside of class. I was struggling with a disorder and had a very hard time completing an assignment and I put in my best effort to do as much as I could, and she gave me an F even though I explained to her my issues.
Just took her online class and will be taking her again in the fall. She's very clear on what she expects. I had a few questions and set up a Zoom meeting. After talking with her I totally understood what I needed to work on. Just follow the instructions and you'll do great! She's very passionate about the class and her students.
Tamara Segalla is by far the worst professor I have ever experienced. She is very unclear and unorganized as far as information and descriptions for assignments go. However, she is by far the worst when it comes to feedback. Her feedback comes off as very aggressive rather than constructive. I will absolutely never take a class wit her again.
I took Ms. Segalla's class because my friend said she was awesome. She was right! I had a few questions and asked her for help and she got back to me right away. If you follow the syllabus you'll do great. I'll be taking her theater history class this fall and can't wait. Def take her! She's a little crazy but fun!
Almost done with prof Segalla's class. Am taking her next semester on campus. I wasn't sure about an assignment and she emailed me in a hour. Her syllabus is specific so just màke sure you read it and do what it says. I got an A on my poem and quizzes are super easy! Take her you'll see she's crazy weird but nice.
I was a little timid about taking her class but my friend said don't believe everything you read. I'm so glad I did! She was awesome! I wasn't sure about how to do an assignment and had a Zoom meeting. She explained it all and I got an A! Def give her a chance you'll be so glad you did!
A complete lack of syllabi throughout the course make it impossible to see what you will be graded on. Her instructions are formatted with 90% of the words bolded/italicized/highlighted to the point of insanity. After repeated emails requesting clarified standards, she doesn't respond in any substantial way. Very judgemental and harsh, AVOID HER!!!
I recently took professor Segalla for public speaking and decided to try her theater class. It was AWESOME! She's funny and we had a blast in class. She knows her topics and she's got great stories about past experiences. So glad I did this and told my friends about how amazing this class is. Try it you won't be disappointed!
I took Segalla's theater class and loved it! She clearly outlines all of the chapters in the book and actually goes over all of the exam questions before the tests! If you study you'll def get an A! She's funny and made class so much fun. If you have any questions she'll be glad to help you. I would absolutely take her again! AMAZING CLASS!
Initially I took this class as part of an Art requirement and much to my surprise it has become one of my favorite classes! She provided us with enthusiasm and support necessary to achieve our goals. I was deeply inspired. A class like this truly enhances the college experience. Segalla's Oral Interpretation class is an absolute must!
If you want to learn how to be a great public speaker then take Prof. Segalla's class! Yes, it's tough but she wants to make sure that when you leave the class you understand what it takes to write and present a good speech. Just listen to her directions and you'll do great! Highly recommend! Took her for 2 other classes as well.
This professor, is not well suited for Neurodivergent people. Her strict deadlines and no grace given attatude is very annoying. I have to put her assignments at the forefront because of her rules but at least I'm learning something.
Segalla is by far the worst professor I've had this semester. The class seemed easy when I registered, and when I went in I was proven wrong. She has no common sense behind her words and any "feedback" given feels like a personal insult! The classwork is easy don't get me wrong, Segalla though makes this class unbearable.
Professor Segalla is one of the best professors I've had at BSU. I had several questions on her assignments and she met with me after class to go over what I could do to get a better grade. She helped me work through my anxiety and I was a far better public speaker then when I began. Def take her! She's excellent at what she does!
Segalla's class is interesting, exciting , motivating and a lot of fun. She is supportive in the public speaking arena and provided us with enthusiasm and creativity necessary to achieve our many goals. We completed a debate, became the voice of a storyteller and the creator of our own poetry. She has truly inspired me to continue writing!
When I first began college a friend told me about Prof Segalla's class. I was a little hesitant but after 1 semester I ended up taking her for 3 diff classes! She is creative and I learned so much and have never regretted my decision. She told me exactly what to do to succeed and will never forget what I learned. You won't be disappointed. Amazing!
I took Prof. Segalla for Children's Theatre and Interpretation. She was amazing! I have recently applied for my Master's degree and can't thank her enough. Teachers like her are one in a million. She always answered my questions and pushed me to be a much better student not just in class but in everything I do. She's absolutely an A+ in my book!
I took thea101 for credit and was surprised as I am definitely not a theater person but prof made it fun and intriguing. Have to read a play but I actually liked it. 20 question quiz on it. Midterm on notes we take in class. Have to attend a play at bsu and write a paper critique. Actually like this class
I enjoyed the class, don't get me wrong. Professor Segalla teaching, not so much. I had this class last semester, and it was one of the worst classes i've taken due to the fact that segalla is a harsh grader and has harsh expectations to meet. She also has a very strict phone policy and if your phone goes off (even on accident) you get kicked out.
DO NOT take her class!!! She does not realize that people are all human and make mistakes! She is just offensive instead of giving constructive criticism. I had a family emergency and she wouldn't let me make up my work from that day and just gave me a zero. I can handle strict but she is inconsiderate and ruthless!!
I'm currently taking Prof. Segalla's Theater course and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! She's a great teacher and I decided to take her again next semester. I needed extra help and she met with me after class and on a Zoom meeting. She went the extra mile to help me understand what I had to work on to get a better grade. DEF. TAKE HER CLASSES!
I have taken Prof. Segalla before and will absolutely take her again! It breaks my heart to see the negative reviews on here about Ms. Segalla. She is a wise and intelligent professor. She tells us what we NEED to hear! If you want the truth about how to present a speech TAKE HER and respect her opinion. She literally changed my life! Thank you.
I took Segalla's Theatre class this past fall. Originally I was taking the class online but was struggling. Instead I took her on campus class and was not disappointed! If you really want to learn and be engaged take her class! She's knows all about theater history and she really helped me to understand. She honestly cares about her students!
Incredibly defensive and dodgy regarding grades. Would not show students their graded assignments on Blackboard, and weighted almost the entire grade in the class on final and midterm exams. She was very rude when asking for assistance, frequently gave rude responses to students who genuinely needed help, and refused to compromise.
I took Segalla last fall and decided to take her Interp class this fall. She was funny and made the class a lot of fun and I didn't want it to be over! She's insightful and explained what I had to do to get a good grade. Told my friend so we'll be in class together. She knows her stuff and tells great stories. So excited for September!
Rude and dismissive of clarifying questions. She always told me to refer to the syllabus even when I expressed I had read the syllabus and could not find my answer. Lots of hard rules that she sticks to, which are sometimes reasonable, but sometimes just feels like she's on a power trip. Maybe if the class is for your major but otherwise stay away
I am currently in her Theater Appreciation course and decided this spring to take her Interp. class. I asked her a lot of questions and she even gave me the syllabus to read ahead of time. She gives good feedback and extra credit assignments. She wants you to succeed in the class and will help if you just ask her. Highly recommend her classes.
This teacher is the definition of a what "could've been". She talks as if shes been acting in Hollywood for 50 years. Additionally she has a mean spirit and will make that very clear. You're better off saving your gpa and not taking this class.
I've never taken a theater class before but I really wanted to. My friend told me about prof Segalla and I figured why not?! We fight about basically everything and I hate to admit it but taking Segalla's class was one of the best things I've done! She made us laugh so hard that one day my bestie got 20 bucks because I laughed more than she did.
I took Segalla after my roommate recommended her. Unfortunately I got Covid during one of the assignments. I sent her an email and on a Saturday morning she let me present my speech on a Zoom call. She's awesome but keep up with the projects and you'll do great! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!
I took this class for my major and I LOVED it so much that I signed up to take a diff class with her this fall! She goes over all the questions & answers right before the midterm and final exams. If you take notes & study you CAN'T fail. Easy reading and I learned I really like musicals now! TAKE HER! You'll learn so much. AWESOME CLASS.
She is very enthusiastic about her class and that makes it entertaining. She is very strict though, strict with attendance especially. She claims all the instructions are in the syllabus even when they aren't. She also gives points off on little things. Be prepared to do mountains of work and get harshly critiqued on it.
Prof Segalla is one of the best teachers at BSU! I've taken 2 classes with her and learned a lot. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER! I missed some classes and she gave me an extra credit assignment which helped me so much. If you need Oral Interpretation TAKE HER!
Prof Segalla is super sweet and knows what she's talking about. Her feedback is constructive because she wants her students to pass her class and she'll give extra credit project but you have to ask. She was amazing to work with and I'll def take her for another class! Absolute favorite professor ever! You won't be disappointed!
She's funny and her class is ridiculously easy, she literally gives you answers. As long as you take notes you'll be fine. My only thing is that she pronounces foreign words very wrong and talks about cultures as if she's an expert, refuses to take feedback on anything like that. Also she kept calling me "she" even though I'm a guy. It was weird.
She requires a book for the class and will throw a mini-fit if you dont have it. She treats all theatre knowledge like its common sense so she is not very good for outside majors who take this class for arts credits. Condescending and kinda rude. Her exams are exactly from the questions in the class but then willput extra rando questions into fin.
I recently took Prof Segalla's theater class and honestly enjoyed it and I'm taking her speaking class next semester. She'll work with you on extra credit but you have to ask. I learned a lot about theater and she makes it interesting because she wants you to learn. If you put in the time you'll get a good grade. I'm changing my major to theater.
How good she is as a professor depends on the class you take. I took 2 classes she taught (Theatre History & Oral Interp), History was great but Interp was really bad. She docks points for the most random things in performances, like the colors of props your using, even though she says to just use what you have around, and she's weirdly strict?
based on the fact this class was mandatory I knew it would be bad but she goes out of her way to ruin someone's day. In today's class, she showed up 25 minutes late and emailed one student, but then when students showed up 25 minutes late she marked them late. She assigns more work than the average professor and expects us to be like Shakespeare
DO NOT TAKE CLASSES WITH THIS PROFESSOR!!! Here's a list of experiences that should deter you: -had to pay 20 dollars each time to attend shows she directed (mandatory) -horribly offensive content in one of the shows -picks you apart in front of the class during performances -harsh grader + overly strict with attendance, even in dire circumstances
I'm truly disheartened to read the reviews for Ms Segalla. I took 2 of her classes my freshman & sophomore years. I learned so much in both courses. College is supposed to be challenging! Her classes were easy compared to my junior & senior years. She prepares you for working in the real world. You get respect when you give respect. I admire her.
she doesn't let you use your phone for any reason at all so make sure she can't see you if you use it in class or you will get kicked out for the day. VERY much a theatre class, if you don't have an interest in theatre then ur better off taking a normal pub. speaking class. lots of presentations, harsh grader. don't take if u don't have the time
I took Segalla's class because I didn't want a boring speaking course. My friend said she was awesome because you get to do projects like your life story, poetry and a group final performance instead of a written exam. It was fun and I highly recommend it! She wants you to do well and you'll have a blast while learning. You won't regret it!
Professor Segalla is a one-of-a-kind gem. Her class and feedback made my senior year a fantastic one to help me to improve my speaking skills. She comes off tough, but I personally like that about her. But deep down she has a heart of gold. I have a lot of respect for Professor Segalla.
Is not as bad as her reviews make her seem. She does require a text book and does not put grades in black board. You watch 2 movies and if you get 100 on the quizes you dont have the take that section of the midterm or final. Goes over the exact midterm/final questions in class. I liked her but she kind of a nut, just stay on her good side!
This professor expects students to be adults, because they are legally adults. Students who gave her poor ratings are students who preferred to goof off on their cell phones than take the class seriously. This professor genuinely cares about her students and their ability to succeed, and anyone who wishes to succeed will do well in her class.
Love her just don't pull out your phone during class you will get kicked out for the day.
Prof. Segalla is more than fair. She gives specific details on assignments. If you have an issue she's open to suggestions. I enjoyed her class so much that I'm taking her again for an acting class next semester. Students who say she's not fair don't do the work and want an easy grade. Show up to class, do the projects and have fun! She's awesome
I have a lot of respect for Professor Segalla. Oral Interp gets you out of your comfort zone and I liked that about the class. You present a children's book, your life story, memorize and perform parts of movies, and group project for the final. I honestly had a lot of fun in this course- Professor is strict but I liked it about her. She's a gem
Strict professor . If you go on your phone in class you get a zero and she makes you leave the class. She doesn't explain things well. Syllabus and class instructions differ. She's tough, cancels a lot of classes. Since the syllabus doesn't explain the assignment clearly, student are scrambling at the end of the semester.
Had her for Theatre Appreciation. Very engaging with students and did a great job keeping my attention throughout lectures. Gave us the exact questions that would be on the midterm/final, so we knew exactly what to study, and also gave us a bonus if we did really well on the midterm and quizzes. Make sure you always have the textbook on you.
She's a bit nuts, her lectures are all over the place. She cancels class a lot and has a strict no-phone policy. That being said, if you're good at memorizing definitions and answers, it's an easy A. She literally gives the verbatim answers to the midterm and final. If you get a 100 on a quiz/midterm, you get out of a section on the midterm/final.
I had Prof Segalla for Thea appreciation and she was on point! She literally gives you all of the questions and answers for the midterm and final. I decided to take her again for a speaking class and can't wait. She has a weird sense of humor but she made me laugh during classes. Don't be afraid to talk to her if you have questions.
After reading a lot of these reviews, I was definitely hesitant to take a course with her. I did take her and I have nothing but respect for her. She can be tough, but it's because she genuinely wants her students to succeed. She was always so kind and communicative when I reached out. Take her courses. You won't regret it.
Professor Segalla runs a tough but rewarding class. While attendance is mandatory and the grading is strict, her passion for the subject shines through. Engage with the material and you'll improve your speaking skills. unstuckstudy can be a helpful study tool alongside the in-class learning.
I can see non-theater people not enjoying the class, but as a theater person I loved it. She is very clear about grades and her expectations and she enforces the expectations. She gives you the answers for every question on the exams. Take notes, attend class, pay attention and you'll be fine. She is good at teaching and clearly cares!
I had Prof. Segalla for Theatre Appreciation and attendance is really key. She is very strict and has some odd views. If you miss at least one class, you are going to fall behind because there is no sources outside of the class to know what is being taught. The head of the department even said her final was too hard for us. We were given no prep.
I had Prof.Segalla for Theatre Appreciation, great class and I would take it again. She was engaging and literally gives you the answers to the exams but you have to memorize a lot of terms. Many students struggled with this and failed, just be prepared to study and memorize and you will love her class.
Amazing professor. If you have anxiety or get nervous about public speaking, this class will be a challenge. However, I hated public speaking, and I have to say, this has been the most fun class I have ever taken. She is a cool, down-to-earth professor as long as you bring in the papers that go with the acting assignment and STAPLE THEM!
I absolutely love Segalla's Theater Appreciation class! For the midterm & final she goes over all the questions & answers as well as giving us a word bank with the answers on the tests. We got to do some improv & the class was like all of us just got together & had a lot of fun. If you're looking for a great class take her! You'll be glad you did!
Do not let any of these bad reviews fool you; Professor Segalla is awesome. She's funny, caring, and genuinely wants her students to succeed. The notes we take in class are pulled from the textbook and are identical to the questions on tests. The only way you can make her mad is if you go on your phone or don't have the textbook. 100% reccomend, ez
