Tambi is an awesome instructor! She is positive and enjoys her job. One of my best yet
Excellent teacher really breaks down new math techniques well and looks for student interaction
Very nice and willing to answer qusetions. Excellent at explaining and breaking down the math.
Great class for those that do not enjoy math, she does an outstanding job in breaking down each equation and A+
She is a great instructor. The entire class raves to every visitor who's auditing the class that she is a phenominal instructor and human being. She has time for all her students any time she is in her office, and will go over a problem as many times as the student's need. She uses alternative methods of teaching not found in the text. I love it!
She is is totally personable and she really becomes a friend after the course!
Great Instructor, I wish she was teaching the MATH 112 and Calculus 1 courses at MHCC. If you had a choice, go with this teacher, She is by far one of the best math instructors at MHCC.
Great teacher, very helpfull, i loved taking this class.
Tambi was great! Her math class was the first class I had at Mt Hood and she was very friendly and helpful.
She is great! My last math teacher at mt hood was horrible so she is a nice change. I love math so it's nice to have a math teacher who does too. She is kinda crazy but she explains things well so everyone understands.
She actually made math fun!! My previous teacher was entertaining but wasnt able to convey the concepts as well as Tambi.. Not only fun but also easy to understand and follow.. Just do the homework, even though not graded on it..
Knows what she's talking about. Easy-going. Has a passion for math.
i had Tambi for MTH 111 and MTH 251. She's is super helpful and great at explaining things. She gives little homework compared with other math teachers i've had.
Tambi is great. ive never un nderstod math, and she had a great way of explaing it to everyone. i wish she was teaching my math class next term
Tambi was great... i wish she was teaching the math im taking now. very patient, is helpful and has a obvious love for math. fun teacher. better at explaining math than any teacher ive ever had. shes awesome!
she's nice
I loathe math but Tambi made it much more bareable and easy to understand. She has no problem answering questions and doesn't stop until you understand the concepts. She is definitly the best math teacher I have had thus far and I finished the term understanding math for the first time. I definitely recommend her!
Tambi is by far the best instructor at MHCC!! she makes sure you understand the material and will try and explain things in differnt ways until you understand!! Tambi is awesome!!
Tambi is awesome
made class so easy and fun, super nice! best math teacher I have ever had! makes material easy to understand if you don't get it, she will help you! one of those teachers who enjoys their job and students!
Tambi is the best math teacher at MHCC. I have taken classes from many other (good) math teachers, but Tambi takes the cake. She is very clear on her teaching and clear on what is expected. I wish I could take all my math classes with her.
Taught slow. Good at explaining. Explains answers to questions.
I really liked Prof. Boyle. It took me a few weeks to warm up to the class but at the end I felt very comfortable. She's available, clear, and concise. I really have no complaints. I'm no super math person but I never felt in a panic or adrift in a sea of formulas. I'd definitely take a class with her again.
This teacher is FANTASTIC. I suffer from a learning disability and math has always been my worst subject. She is the first teacher EVER to teach me math and I get it the first time she explains it. I wish she was available for all my math classes. She is by far the best there is at MHCC. If you have the chance to take her..DO IT!!
The Mathiest farm girl I ever met, knows her math and aint afraid to share. Highly recommend. I great start back to school. Thanks Tambi
Worst teacher ever. Mainly because she quite simply does not teach! She spends 99% of the class time going over homework and does not leave enough time to go over new material. She also does not follow the text and jumps around too much. She apparently does not have a lesson plan. Take this class from anyone else but Tambi.
Did not like this teacher. She does not give you study guides before exams.. Makes you study off of passed graded work and textbooks, which doesn't help much.
Tambi is the best math teacher at MHCC. I would never take a math class with anyone else. She explains things so clearly, and makes math fun. If you have math anxiety she will show you just how easy and fun math can be!!
She goes out of her way to help if needed. There could be more clarity, but where its lacking she picks up the pieces to help. Very kind and helps you to figure out the answer yourself instead of just giving you the answer.
I hate math. I have failed Algebra 3 times. This time, I got an A, and I owe it to Tambi. Extremely helpful, and a wonderful human being. If you have a hard time with math, she is the teacher you want.
She explained everything great the first 3 weeks of the term, but then it all went down hill. She kept going back to the material in the first half of the term and nailed it in our heads, but the new material after the 7th week wasn't clearly explained and half the class failed the parts on the test with the new material on it.
If I could have her for my business courses, I would do it. Extremely helpful, and the ONLY reason I excelled in this class.
Tambi Boyle was the best math teacher I have ever had hands down. She is very patient and never makes you feel stupid for asking a question or not understanding the material. Her teaching style helps you retain the material instead of just learning something and then forgetting it. I highly recommend her.
Worst teacher I've ever had. And I've taken her TWICE! She is unapproachable, makes you feel stupid for not understanding HER methods, and she'll straight up omit other possible methods that may help those who learn differently. I had to watch Khan Academy to understand the material. I failed both of her classes. Khan should have been paid instead.
Tambi's great. She explains things well and is always available to help her students. Highly recommended
She was by far my favorite math teacher. She loves math so much she would wear math T-shirts on the daily. She has a great sense of humor and isn't afraid to joke back.
Tambi set a very good pace and I always felt very comfortable approaching her with any issue I was having. She has a great sense of humor and incorporates that into her teaching. My specific course felt a lot more relative to the real world situations, and I can truly say this was the first math class I have truly enjoyed.
Tambi is a great teacher! She explains everything extremely well and is very clear about her expectations. She has a great sense of humor and is very flexible. I would definitely take her for a math class again.
Way too easy of a class. Didn't study at all, spent less than an hour a week on homework and still got an A.
Tambi makes math fun, relatable, and easy to understand. She teaches as if she is excited about the content, which gets students involved and engaged.
Really straight forward class, Liked the fact that we went over homework regularly and she always answered our questions. She explained things clearly and always knew what to except on tests. Loved her class and would take her again for sure.
Tambi is wonderful. She is very helpful if you have any question and keeps the classes attention. He grading on graded problems in the beginning was confusing, but if you just explain why you believe something then you're OK. Once you figure out what she is looking for in terms of grading, you'll do fine. We never turned in HW but did go over it.
Going into this class I thought it was hard, but was surprised that it's easier than 95. Tambi emphasizes critical thinking and proving in writing and defending your answers. Tests are fairly easy. Not a tough grader and gives feedback. Would take again.
With the reviews, thought this class would be great like my mth65, but it wasn't. She was jumping around the textbook way too much, it made the materials she taught confusing. She's very funny and nice but did not like the way she taught, felt like I didn't learn anything and had to keep looking back on the textbook. She expects you to understand
Had a very specific order she teaches the material, which doesn't follow the book. Like the last reviewer I didn't like it at first, but about halfway in I realized it allowed me more time to process before expanding on the concepts. Since I'm a slow learner that really helped me. Make sure your homework is ready on time when class starts!!!
Good teacher, very nice and helpful. I am fairly good at math on my own, I get As without doing all the hw/studying, and I thought the class was reasonably easy/difficult. Calculus isn't the easiest subject, but Tambi doesn't make it harder than necessary. Good teacher, not too much lecture, not too much HW.
Great Teacher! HW basically everyday, but it helps review & learn some of the materials that way. She's really good at when you need help with something she's willing to help. She's dorky but makes the class more entertaining that way. Her bust of energy and working on problems in class helps make the class time go by faster. Hard, but fun.
Tambi is one of the most caring teachers I've had! As somebody who struggles with mental illness, she has been there for me when I've struggled! She is flexible in grading and overall a wonderful teacher
I found the way Tambi taught to be very effective. Although most of the homework she assigns isn't graded, it is essential to learning the material. Also, she usually picks problems from the homework to work on in-class as another method of practice. Very helpful and doesn't rush through the material.
Tambi is a great math teacher, shes very funny and loves to help in any way she can. :) I would take her again.
She's a great teacher! My cousin recommended her and I couldn't be more happy with.
Tambi is the worst teacher I have ever had. She assigns tons of work and then she doesnt collect nothing. No book in the class just have to print out tons of papers. SAVE YOUR LIFE AND GO WITH ANOTHER TEACHER
Her classes are confusing!! I dont know how mhcc still keeping her as a teacher with such poor teaching skills!! Stay away!!!!!! She is strangely weird with her grading style
This class was not what I expected. It focused on stuff that is actually useful instead of math stuff I'll never use. There is a lot of excel, which was tough to get use to, but she was totally willing to help outside of class if you want more help. You will have a lot of homework, but it's interesting. I am way more confident about math now!!
She makes you feel dumb when you ask questions and can never help you outside of class except for her office hours and even then she's always doing other things and won't help you or makes you feel dumb for your questions
Class was relaxed environment and she was funny. Lots of homework and expect to study a lot out of class, but totally worth it.
Tambi was a great professor to have. We had a lot of group discussions and we worked on homework collaboratively. I always felt supported by tambi and the other students and would definitely take her again.
My advice would be to avoid taking her at all costs. She didn't grade homework one time throughout the term, and nobody knew their grade until it was on their transcript. Her teaching style is bad. She will give everyone a handout on a new subject and ask you to try and work through it when nobody has the tools to do so & explain after about 15min.
She teaches by giving examples, having you try them, then showing you how to do them. This is inefficient. If she doesn't like how you formatted your work you can lose up to 50% on every problem even if you get the correct answer. Again, you can get every problem right and still get an F in the class because she will deduct points anywhere.
Took her for 251. It was a tough class, but I really feel like I learned so took her for 252. Class is mix of lecture and working on activities. It was great being able to try and problem solve and then discuss as a class. She's always willing to help in & out of class. Definitely picky on notation, but needed when crazy integrals came up.
She is the most toughest grader out there! She will literally deduct points for the smallest things! Didn't like her teaching style she kind of expects you to know and learn everything on your own! She isn't very helpful and when you ask for help she seems annoyed! Don't take her class if you want an A!!!!!!
Avoid her! She seems annoyed when you ask her for help during her office hours. she makes you feel dumb. Her teaching style is not the best, skips around chapters. You never know your current grade. Shes knocks 2-3 pts if you dont write things out how she likes it even if you did the math right. Assigns lots of hw & never collects it or give pts.
Tambi is a great teacher and I would say that you should try and take classes from her. She is available during office hours for extra help on Graded Problems and really cares about her students learning the material. If you are trying to find a teacher who will help you learn math and who is available outside of the classroom then take her!
Marks you down on every little thing. Says shes willing to work with and understand other learning techniques and strategies to fit around everyone's learning styles, but is no help whatsoever. i would not recommend her to anyone.
Very helpful and gives the best advises!
Good teacher, tough subject. Accessible, knows her stuff. Math nerds will lover her. LOL
Tambi was an amazing teacher. She was very helpful, understanding and would constantly push me to do my best. I loved her and absolutely would take the class again!
She is tough and likes things her way, she gives a lot of material out at the end of the term and wants all of it done. Also there is not only lots of homework in the text book, in the work book, but there is also lots to do online. It was hard to try and be organized and be successful. I didn't feel like it was an organized class either.
She is very difficult to talk to. She grades VERY hard, over the smallest errors, she'll mark you off the whole problem. She doesn't explain the material good. Thats all you need to know to not take her class. Most awful teacher I've ever taken at MHCC.
The material itself isn't too difficult, but this class is SO disorganized. It's literally the reason why I am struggling with simple material, which is incredibly frustrating. Confusing and Disorganized.
I hate math, but love 105. It goes over stuff that is useful. I really struggled with the spreadsheets at the beginning, but Tambi was super helpful outside of class. I'm not sure I liked the online stuff and there is a lot of it, but the instant feedback was nice. I liked having a weekly schedule listing all the work due so I could plan.
Here's the thing about Tambi's classes, She makes you work your butt off for your grade. HOWEVER, I think a lot of people forget that this is a college class. Nothing is going to be handed to you. The material is not easy, YES you must put in the time. But Tambi responds quickly and is open to answering unlimited questions if you show you care.
Would not take again, I could easily watch a couple 10 min vids on khan or youtube and "learn" everything in that was "taught" in this class. Oh wait, that's exactly what I did because we seriously spent 2 or 3 classes talking about mean, median , and mode... bruh, seriously??? Get ready for excel and taking 10+ screenshots! Class is so slow, nope.
Be expected to do a lot of homework and learn on your own. Only take this class online if you have A LOT of free time. The expected attendance classes are horribly scheduled and mostly unhelpful. Will be assigned into peer groups for weekly hw; good luck getting good ones. Will have 3 instructors which leads to more confusion.
Where do I start. This professor is the worst out of my two years attending this school. She didn't help at all and the class layout is a mess. You have group meetings you have to attend and set up on your own. Theres too much work and none of it correlates to the test. Do not take a class from her.
Getting help is like getting help from a scripted customer service chatbot. I like online classes to avoid schedule conflicts. Too bad, if you don't meet twice a week for group meetings, once for exams, and more for help sessions, you'll fail. Miss one assignment after turning them in dutifully? No late work. Went from a B to a D for 30 points.
Teacher is nice, but. You work hard in this class for the wrong reasons, time consumed doing the teachers job teaching yourself the material then add twists to simple concepts that end up impacting your grade. IF you don't understand something you need an appointment EVERY TIME which is a days wait. This class wasn't meant to teach only punish.
This class was an absolute nightmare. Tambi was nice each time that I talked to her, which was often because I struggled a lot. So much homework, very unclear grading & unfair grading as well. No extra credit opportunities, very strict syllabus & even though it's entirely online you're expected to meet on zoom 2x a week w/group. Big time commitment
Omg, this class is a struggle and a complete waste of time. The homework hours are 25 hours a week. I on average put 28 hours a week of homework. And 8 hours for a different class. Balanced work and Saturdays off due to religion. It's way too hard. The teacher is nice but the class is awful. Save your self from this nightmare.
Unclear grading, puts you in groups and have to meet 2x a week, gives to much homework and quizes and are to be due in 1 week. Does not give extra credit. Do not recommend taking this class!
The worst instructor I've ever met. Her lessons were never helpful and were sometimes youtube videos which was very frustrating. Her test/quizzes sometimes had questions that were never discussed in lessons. This class was very poorly set up and many people struggled. It was also hard to even google how to do problems because they were too specific
I liked Tambi as a person, however the class is a mess. My math tutor is a college math instructor with a masters in Math, and he was appalled by the wording of so many problems. I often lost points because their problems were so poorly worded. Your grade depends heavily on group projects. It sucked to lose my 4.0 to someone else's inadequacies.
Literally 90% of your grade. is from group work and it sucks if you have to lose your points due to someone else. My tutor was even confused about how she words her problems. Her lessons don't match the quizzes or exams. Exams are literally every week. Take at your own risk
You better pray that your group is fuctional, though this may be an online class; you are required to meet 3-5 times as a group to get "group work" done. My group shows up to our meetings and they're just silent, I have to do the work and submit my work as "group work" because I value my own grade; so here I am pulling more than my fair share.
I took this class twice. If this was my first time, I would SUFFER. I took hybrid and there was no instruction. There is an unnecessarily large amount of online homework that doesn't help. Your “lesson” is a 5 pg reading. Tambi is great, but there is so much work that your learning is sacrificed due to deadlines you're constantly trying to meet.
Tambi was really nice, but this class workload was egregious. They say four hours of homework per hour spent in class or whatever, but this class was 4 hours a week and at least 24 hours of homework due Friday each week. No lessons are done in class, only group work. If you actually try to learn the material yourself you will be SLAMMED.
Do not take this class unless you want to ruin your gpa. Class is based on group work with no teacher lectures or help. No one in my class got an A.
Where to start on this class. It was required for my degree- there is A LOT of homework. Be prepared to spend 25-40 hrs a week on this class. If you don't understand the material, it will be hard. I highly recommend the zoom sessions with her and the tutoring center. This class was the hardest class I've ever taken. Good luck 😩
I expect a lot of homework from a 5 credit class. The busy work load from this class was honestly insane. You could easily spend 30-40 hours a week working on it…. I focused on the more heavily graded work and exams and I've never done so well on exams and gotten such a poor grade, I will be re-taking the class with a new instructor.
I really liked working with Tambi, I took a dual delivery class and she was very helpful through messages. There is a lot of homework, but that goes for every 5 credit class ever. She helped explain things in a caring manner. I would take her again!!
