really nice, no homework...lab sucks!!!

She is really helpful. If you find course material difficult just go to her office...she's more than willing to go over the material
Has all the notes done for you...her tests come directly from the notes...no new material. Tests are pretty easy if you study...always willing to help you out...labs suck!!
She is very nice and helpful...no homework, but teaches with alot of pictures. Tests are easy if you study your notes.
Very boring lecture. All notes. Tests sometimes confusing and hard but she is willing to help you.
Tamera was a great teacher! She was always willing to help out. I was happy to have her for both lecture and lab.
The class does require effort...but if you make the effort she will be with you every step of the way. I suggest going to her office hours if you are having any problems and she will really help you out! Really sweet lady :-)
If you want to have a good Bio teacher, go with Winslow. Wales is not very itelligent in the material she teaches and if you don't understand her style of teaching, good luck becuase she can't present it any other way. If you have trouble listening and taking notes youll have trouble in this class.
She has a great personality, lecture was not boring, no homework, gave extra credit work sheets to do in class. One draw back tests are very hard! Need to study a lot!
she was very personable and lectures were not boring. always got out early. plus she had an attractive side.
Tamera is one of the best science teachers I have ever had. Even though it is a big lecture class I feel like she cares about all of us. We have had many great lectures and I actually enjoy going to class every week!
She was the most helpful teacher I've ever had - take her!!!
Tamera Wales rules!
Loves to talk to talk to students
This class is not difficult if you go to class and take her notes. Tests come straight from notes. Extra credit opportunities before every test. She is very approachable, and wants you to succeed. The book is unnecessary. DO NOT BUY IT, since the test material comes straight from notes! It's supplemental, but definitely unnecessary.
Tamera was the best teacher I had for my first semester at BGSU! I loved her! Her classes consisted of copying down notes off of an overhead projector and her explaining pictures and diagrams. She also set up study sessions before tests, and gives 5 tests a semseter and lets you drop your lowest test score. I DEFINATELY recomend her to anybody!
she is very easy to understand and very nice to her students
Best science professor I've ever had. She's really thorough and gives great lectures. The tests come straight from the notes. She's super helpful and wants everyone to pass!Loved every minute of class, and HIGHLY recommend taking any of her classes.
Great Teacher! Most of the time it's just lecture hall notes and the ocasional work sheet that takes a half hour and your out early. Requires a little bit of studying for tests and you can drop your lowest test score.
Not a hard class at all. Tamera puts everything you need to know in notes, and she reviews everything before test day. Very simple, good teacher.
I looooved her! I don't like biology at all, but she makes the class really interesting and she's pretty funny. She's always willing to help anyone. Great Class!
You will want to go to class if you want to get a good grade becuase she gives you the notes of what she is going to test you on! Extra credit offered often for attending class, lots of fun, Tamera enjoys life, not just BIO...
She is a easy teacher, however, I found her unprofessional and she does not seem very knowledgeable. She seems to mix up and confuses simple biological term like enzyme and protein. She is an easy A, but you won?t really learn anything in the class. She also tends to ask EXTREMLY personal questions in class.
Culturally inept, very closed minded and immature
I'm pretty sure being culturally inept and immature have nothing to do with being a good teacher.. You're confusing immature with not taking herself too seriously, I think. I absolutely loved Tamera's class. I hate science and she made it really interesting. She's fun and keeps your attention. GREAT CLASS
Tamera is awesome! Take her for BIO 104 - she loves BIO and loves helping students... her tests are straight from her notes - offers extra credit for attending class... shes so cute and funny - take her class
Good teacher. Since it's a pretty easy class, she presents material in a basic manner and her exams are very reasonable. I recommend her if you need to fulfill the natural sciences, ect. She's easy to understand and the class is pretty easy for all levels of science minds.
good teacher. make sure you go to class for the extra credit.
She is an awful teacher. She lectures like a preschool teacher. And her voice is so high and annoying.
A total sweetheart. Don't take her sillyness in class as her being an "easy" teacher. Do the work and you'll get the grade you put in.
Tamera really connects with her class with her lively attitude and bubbly personality. You really have to attend class, since the tests are kinda (not really) hard. I would suggest her to anyone.
Tamera is very friendly, makes jokes, exams are challenging but not extremely difficult. Not much book work or reading but typical powerpoint slides and also not handouts. great teacher!
Very easy class. Detailed power points. She pulls questions right from the notes and she even goes over the review papers.
Tamera is the sweetest person! She is really really smart and makes the material as easy to understand as possible. Even if you don't do well, she has extra credit and drops your lowest exam grade. I had a D in the first half of the semester and thanks to her I left with an 84%.
What a joke her voice is annoying she states if you are close to next grade and really try & partcipate she will curve but lies and never answers the emails you send her. Never answered not one of mine! U kiss up U get an A. You do hard work U barely pass. Just sayin.
GREAT professor, she's so sweet and friendly. you can tell she really cares about the subject but doesn't expect the students to. extra credit at least once for every exam and the lowest grade is dropped, great professor, i'd take her again
Tamera is a sweetheart. Great person, very passionate about what she teaches. Exams are difficult though, so study hard. Assignments are easy, and so is the presentation at the end of the semester.
She is such a nice lady and loves biology...and her dog (she makes that clear) but the class is pretty easy if you go and lab helps boast your grade.
I loved her! She's very nice and knows what she's talking about. She is understanding and and makes it easy to get a good grasp on the material. Her resources she provides are so helpful and her powerpoints are great as well. I definitely recommend her!
Tamera is super sweet and a good teacher! Attendance is not mandatory but necessary to receive the notes since they are not posted to blackboard. I'd also recommend joining a study group at the Learning Commons for extra help, just an idea though! Would definitely recommend.
Her class was really easy. She gives you study guides that are exactly what is on the test, and she doesn't use the boring book. She's really good at making sure everyone understands the material. And she really loves her job!
Good teacher. keeps the class interesting because she loves biology. Basically teaches exactly what is in the book. Easy class if you go to it and take the lecture notes.
Great Prof, very knowledgeable about the subject and keeps class interesting. Exams are easy because she gives study guides before exams with exam material.
I struggled in this class, but this was on my part and had nothing to do with Tamera as a professor. She is extremely personable and knowledgable, caring about her students. If you pay attention and take notes, you should be fine. I daydreamed and didn't study, and for that, I understandably struggled. Tamera, however, is great. :)
Tamera was an awesome professor. She is very nice and her lectures are very clear and to the point. Her tests are not hard but the class challenges you which is important. I loved this class because of her, she gave me a new found interest in biology!
Her tests are horrible and worded so poorly, I reccomend trying to take this course with someone else.
She's nice but not a great teacher. Her examples kind of suck and she's obsessed with her dog. Even if you study the studyguide 100% and memorize it the tests suck because it's not the same material. & the lab doesnt go along with the course AT ALL
I came into the class not looking forward to it. It was pretty easy. If you go to every class to get the notes you will do great. She gives worksheets/study guides and goes over them with you. They are just like the tests. Don't bother buying the book. Never used it and I got an A.
Tamera is a very nice lady and the class seems easy until test day. Her tests have no similarities to her study guides and they are basically the only assignments incorporated into your final grade. She is not very engaging and seems extremely unsure of what she is saying at times. I would not recommend her as a professor.
Very nice and easy professor! If you attend class and take notes class should be really easy. Tests cover only notes, you do NOT need the book! i definately recommend this professor, especially if your taking biology because it's required
Great teacher, really helpful and clear. Also gives out amazing study guides before exams. You can drop up to 5 quizzes and 1 exam as long as its not the final exam.
Tamara is great. Her lectures are clear and easy to follow and she gives out amazing study guides before each exam. She also lets you drop 5 of your lowest quiz scores and 1 exam.
I loved Tamera!!! She is the best teacher I had this semester. Coming from someone who is awful at science, I got an A+ in her class. This is a great class to take if you need a science BG perspective class requirement. She does a lot of in class extra credit and if you know her review sheets you'll get an A on every exam. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I hated the way the class was set up. She only gave 4 exams and a final. You could drop your lowest exam score though. All she did was lecture. It was very boring and hard to pay attention. Attendance is not mandatory but it will help. She does not take her exam questions from the chapter but from class notes she gives.
Tamara was a great professor. Exams are taken right from lecture notes, as are quizzes. If you go to class and take notes you should have no problem. She drops your lowest 2-3 quizzes AND your lowest exam
Tamera was a great professor but her class was difficult. Was great at explaining things but her tests and quizzes were extremely hard. If you're not good at biology, I don't recommend taking this class.
Tamera was REALLY nice! There are a total of 5 exams, including the final, but she drops the lowest score. She also drops some of your quiz grades. She'll occasionally give extra credit, especially on Friday's. Don't buy the book! We touched it maybe once or twice. All the review sheets are super helpful and match the exam questions.
Tamera is an awesome lady. She absolutely loves what she teaches and the class is really not that hard. The only bad part about the class is that she gives out quizzes often and she words them really weird so it's almost impossible to get A's on them.
Tamera is one of the nicest people. She is always willing to help you out in class and outside of class. Classes aren't mandatory, but she doesn't post her notes online, so it's best if you attend. She occasionally gives extra credit. You do not use the book at all, so save yourself some money and don't buy it. Also, the quizzes are frequent.
One of the nicest teachers you will ever meet. She loves her job and her subject, and that carries over to her teaching. Very clear and concise. Easy class just be sure to go to lab, study for the in class quizzes, and attend the study guide class before exams. I wish she taught every class.
Tamera is such a sweet lady! She will make time for your office hours whenever you need help. Her class moves kinda fast but you can always go to her for questions after class.
The class isn't too bad if you pay attention
While Tamera is very nice, for the most part, I would not recommend her as a biology professor. The tests are nothing like the study guide she gives you, and barely follows the notes she gives and assigned readings. Very, very hard to pass this class.
She is absolutely amazing! Her lectures are on point with material and she is super clear about her expectations. Her class is super easy if you listen to lectures and hardly use the book. She cracks jokes that make the whole lecture hall laugh, i would sit upfront because she makes an effort to get to know you, and it's worth it.
She lectured a lot, but she's so enthusiastic about Biology that it's incredibly easy to pay attention during class! She makes it relatable and easy to understand. I would suggest reading, but it's not completely necessary. She gives you notes, but tests are challenging. Quizzes are also tough. Study really hard in the beginning. First test is easy
Great teacher
Personally, I went to every class and ended up with a B. The exams are challenging but if you take notes online (doesn't post them online), and read over them the night before, you'll be fine! You have to put some work in but she will work with you! She is the sweetest professor I have ever had!!!
Tamera was one of the best professors I've had. I'm not a big fan of science and had to take one to fulfill graduation requirements, yet she managed to make this class one of my favorites. She is very energetic and clearly passionate about her work. Exams aren't hard but you must go to class and read your textbook. Easy if you do!
Not one of my favorite classes, but had to take it for BGPs. However, Tamera was a great professor. Powerpoints were clear and to the point, but if you missed a lecture you'd have to get the notes from someone to be caught up. STUDY!! The quizzes and exams are not easy unless you study. And go to class when there are in class assignments! It helps!
Great teacher! Really seems to care about how well you're doing. Easy to follow in class.
Attendance is only worth points when there is an activity, which you know ahead of time. I went to lecture 50% of the time, went to every lab and did my best, and only studied for 3-4 hours before each exam. I ended with a 96. Your textbook has all of the information you need to be able to ace an exam and keep up if you're not attending lecture.
This class was a solid Intro class. Prof Wales is super nice and really cares about her students doing well. The class is all lectures and you're expected to take notes. Once every 3 or so classes, she'll give a small assignment worth 5 points at the end, graded for completion. Other than that, the entire grade is based on the 4 exams.
She's very engaging, caring and most of all passionate about her lectures
Pretty easy class, professor makes it even easier, only have to go to half the classes. Good teacher and class though
She is super sweet and is easy to understand. She talks a lot and I was struggling to know exactly what to write down for notes sometimes. There is some extra credit that is for completion which is easy. I would recommend getting the book because that helped me a lot if I didn't understand what she was talking about. Not an exactly an easy A
She is a great teacher overall. Is very clear with how she grades and shows that multiple times throughout the semester. Based on point system not necessarily a letter grade.
Make sure you read the book before lectures. During class, she will lecture what was in the chapter and then you can ask her questions throughout the lecture. She drops your lowest test grade. She really simplifies the course material so it's straight forward. Just study and you'll do great in biology!
This is the kind of class where you either love or hate it. I fell into the hate category which is sad because she seems like a nice person. It seemed unnecessary to go to class because I ended up having to teach myself everything from the book anyway. (I still went however) Her review sessions before class also confused me right before a test.
Read the book, show up, and ask questions. It is a little daunting to raise your hand and ask questions in front of almost 100 people but it helps you out a lot. Read the book and understand the terms! She gives you a study guide.
Dr. Wales is one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. Unfortunately, her class is brutally boring and disengaging. Her quizzes are extremely specific and difficult to pass. There is a lot of information & she doesn't give clear direction on what you need to study. It's a class that should be interesting but hate to say, she kinda ruins it.
Dr. Wales is seriously such a sweetheart. Her passion for BIO shows through her lectures. She only tells you the material you need to know for the exams. Even though attendance isn't mandatory she does in class activities that can't be made up. She also doesn't post her slides. But she does offer extra credit for every grade taken during lecture.
I'm horrible with Biology, however I got an A in this class! Her exams are very straight-forward and easy. She gives an in-class activity each class which helps raise grade if you don't do well on exams. Lectures aren't extremely boring. I used the book a lot to study for exams, however it wasn't necessarily used in class.
Nice person. Attendance isnt mandatory as it is a lecture but if you dont go, you wont pass. Slides and presentations are awful so if you do go, you wont pass. Doesnt matter either way. Look at the textbook more often than times you go to class. Tests are on nothing taught in class. Shes a nice person but awful professor
Dr. Wales is a sweet person and is passionate about biology. I love that she includes pics of her dogs in her lectures. Makes concepts easy to understand. Tests can be hard, but the review sessions/in class assignments help. Just go to class, read, and ask questions. She explains the grading criteria, since most of us are freshman, very helpful!
She is the sweetest human, very passionate about biology and is very good at explaining the material.
She says attendance isn't mandatory but you get a graded worksheet every class period so you have to attend. She is so sweet and genuinely cares about the student and their grade. She got to know almost every student by name in our lecture. Highly recommend her class, she is amazing. (and so are all the cute dog photos she shows of Jackson)!
Professor Wales makes the required BIO class easy and she gives lots of opportunity for extra credit. She is kind and is an easy professor to approach with anything.
Awful at lectures, awful at considering accessibility, during this online transition it's been even worse. She makes everything necessarily difficult for students all with a smile on her face.
I am going to give it to you straight. Her tests are difficult! The average for all 7 tests was 50-60%(open book). But, over the course, you have activities that you do in class and that helps keep your grade up along with bonus opportunities after every test. Overall, you do not have work outside of class but this class teaches you how to study.
Go to the lectures because there are assignments that she walks you through. The quizzes are hard, but do the review questions and have your book close. Textbook is necessary. She gives extra credit after each quiz too. Her lectures are boring sometimes, but take good notes. Do the work and you will have no issue. Studying is also necessary.
Professor Wales always made class interesting. Lectures are based entirely off the textbook, so its good to read beforehand or after to understand the concepts. You will need to read the book to pass the quizzes. She was very nice, I enjoyed her class.
This is a pretty tough class because all it is, is lectures. You have an exam after every 3 chapters and they are pretty tough, averages are usually a C if your class is smart. She does give extra credit after the exams to try and help, but this is definitely my hardest class.
Tamera is a great person and grades pretty fairly but the averages of our exams were pretty low. As long as you show up to class and read the chapters you should be fine though.
Attendance was not mandatory, although if you didn't go to class you would not get the lecture material. No recording or slides were posted after class. All around I thought the tests and quizzes were easy and not unfair. She is a sweet person and for sure is passionate about what she is teaching.
Definitely read the textbook if you want to pass this class. Lectures cover textbook material practically word-for-word, and therefore so do exams. Her exams can be difficult but if you read, study, and take notes you should be okay. She is a very caring and knowledgeable professor.
