Extremely curtious and helpful, and gorgeous beyond comprehension!!!!!
Could we do any more group work? How about you try teaching!!! Why not ask questions in class? This is the worst math environment I have ever experienced!!

Can it get any worse. I can't believe I payed for credits taught by this woman.
Don't waste your money on taking a class with her. She doesn't even teach the material but just the theories behind the consepts. She is by far the worst teacher at Michigan Tech. She should be fired.
Horriable at explain of the text, goes off on the concepts that won't help you any on her exams
A poor teacher. Her exams weren't extremely difficult if you know what to expect. However, the homework is excessive and the examples are few and far between. She's too centered on the theory, and not enough of the technical aspects.
She does a poor job explaining the material, rambles on about theory but doesnt cover anything worthwhile.
I wish I had dropped this class when I could. Unfortunately, we got our first tests back 5 days too late. She focuses A LOT on theory, the homework is long and tedious, and you have no idea what to expect on her exams. All around a REALLY tough class.
I mean, c'mon. What ARE we learning in the class? I'm so lost I don't know an e-value from an e-vector. More teaching, less theory. Show how what we are learning applies to taking the subject... PLEASE!!!
Must be one of the worst teachers I have had so far at MTU.
By far the worst teacher I have ever taken in 15 years of schooling.
was very helpful and taught concepts well. the homework assigned also helped me learn
Decent teacher overall, always willing to help and answer questions, and not too hard to understand. Group work is a bad idea. WAY too much theory. Never enough time to finish a test either, unless u know the stuff like the back of your hand.
Dress warm, because when Tammi walks in the room the temperature drops. Shes completely unhelpful, aka, don't bother going to see her during office hours, and if they don't fit into your schedual, SOL, she wont accommadate you. ICE PRINCESS FROM HELL!!!
Tami is a wonderful Calc 1 teacher. She is a really friendly, nice person.
All e-mails I've gotten from her are snappy/crabby ones. She needs to take a course in "How to write nice, professional e-mails." I just hope that I can keep biting my tongue when I reply to them.
Totally useless teacher. She is very abstract in all she does and has no idea what she is talking about half the time. Dont know why she is still teaching Mathematics classes in this school
Horrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE HER UNLESS SHE IS THE ONLY OPTION! She is mean and unhelpful. She knows what she is doing, but cannot communicate it to the class and won't try. Diff Eq was especially bad, though lin alg was not great.
Explain all your answers even if you just need to look at a graph and write down a number, otherwise you will lose points. She seems short at times but can be very understanding and super helpful if you just talk to her and show an honest effort. Study old tests for midterm and final.
I would take her again. In fact I did. I really like this teacher. Her class is difficult, but you learn the material when you are done. Linear algebra and Dif Eq was also do-able. She does require daily homework, but it helps you. I really really liked her as a teacher.
Her reputation as an ice queen is well founded. If you take a class from her, show commitment, and she'll return it to you. You have to learn her respect if you want her help. Come with real questions and she'll be glad to help. Recommend for those who don't mind putting some effort.
She has a homework policy that is basically perfect or bust. If it's not perfect you have to redo it until it is perfect. Otherwise you get NO credit for it whatsoever. Makes for a very demoralizing atmosphere.
She is a good Calc 1 Teacher. She explains everything pretty well and that is a hard thing to find in math teachers around here. Stay cought up and go to class, you should have no problem.
Well, I don't get all the bad things that have been said about her. I think she is a great teacher, answers questions thouroughly and helpfully and unlike what the reviews say is a genuinely nice person.
She was a decent teacher, not amazing, but there are far worse. In class work keeps you awake and helps you understand because she is more than willing to answer any questions though. Do the homework well and on time or you won't get points.
Horrible teacher, absolutely useless! She lectures for 15 min, hands out wksheets, and your on your own from there. Horrible use of class time. Do not take her at any expense... however, she is a gorgeous thing to look at @ 8 AM...
Explained things well in class, but sometimes overexplained obvious concepts. Has a horrendous homework grading policy. Near impossible to get all the points. Tests were straightforward and graded fair, unlike the homework.
Awful teacher. I'm good at math and I hated this class, and I usually like math. Her grading policy on homework is very unfair and not consistent, making it difficult to do well on the homework. Tests are graded more fairly, and not overly difficult, and made you explain things. I wouldnt recommend taking her if you want to enjoy this class
She wastes her class time by handing out worksheets and having you work on them for the entire hour. then she doesnt even go over them so you feel like you received no instruction in class. Tests arent too bad, but in class she treats everyone like children.
Terrible teacher. Talks to students like they're 12 which made me not want to go to class. We played with play-doh and legos, and she almost cried when she didn't get all of he doh back. Exams were tough, but most likely cuz she made me not want to go to class.
I had Tami in U115, the lecture hall and was taught by Tami in Lecture format. I imagine this is not easy to do but she botched at it. Classes did not prepare students for homework. Do not expect to like her simply because you enjoyed her husband, Dave, for Calc I. Word of advice: the problems on her handouts are great for studying for exams.
Defintley not a good teacher. Most of her (lack) of instruction is wasted on her stupid handouts which she doesn't take time to explain. Tests are hard, grading unfair. Use the book alot if you want to try and pass her class.
Use scoop and speak up in class and you should be fine!
Not hard to get a good grade if you put in the time. She often exhibits a cold, indifferent personality which I think may intimidate some people, although I don't think she realizes it. Sometimes tests were unclear as to what she wanted me to do, which often led to points taken off that I should have gotten, because I knew what I was doing.
If you take her for calc 2, make sure you learn partial fractions on your own because she does not teach it and it is on the final exam. Pretty terrible teacher overall.
Not a good teacher... at all. Doesn't prepare you for all the homework that she gives out. Hard grader. And expects you to do her work sheets after still knowing nothing about the subject.
Tough to follow, and not too willing to help on a personal basis
Do not recommend...hands out sheets with about ten minutes of guidance to it then expects you to get it done. Attendence isn't required but you basically have to go every day because she makes you hand in homework every day
Good prof, though the grader is hard. She also needs to give material more clear. Really helpful.
Much of the material taught in class doesn't directly apply to homework or tests. Her teaching style is somewhat boring, so it can be difficult to pay attention in class. Expect to spend a lot of time at the Math Learning Center trying to figure things out.
She wants students to pass, and often went above and beyond what other professers would to help students out. she speaks clear English, therefore easy to understand. You still have to try to get a good grade, but she does curve the exams. Over all a good professor.

Runs classroom like an elementary school. Condescending lecture style. Asks rhetorical questions and won't continue until they are answered. Only works out most basic problems in class. Not helpful on a personal level. Gets hostile when you try to dispute a grade. 0 points if she doesn't understand your work ... on tests, even if answer is correct.
I really like her style of teaching. She gives out in-class worksheets. If you do those, you will be prepared for her quizzes and exams. She prepares her own lessons, and will almost always answer questions in class. She always seemed very enthusiastic, and she genuinely enjoyed teaching. Favorite professor so far.
totally useless. classes r a waste of time. only focus on the scoop testes from her webpage. She does not upload solutions. She is evil
What se teaches in class is usless for the homework, and the homework is useless for the exams. I thinks she is a very bad teacher. BTW, she also treats the class like kids even though the people there are probable over 20, so it is very annoing. I do not reccomend this teacher.
Tries to run a student centered class, but fails to get the class going when stuck. Multiple days were filled with useless, nondescript lessons that didn't move us forward. Temperamental. Class had three papers as the only assignments, only could write them exactly how she interprets the ideas. Your method or way of thinking is discouraged.
She treats the class like a bunch of children. She relies heavily on group discussion and fails to get the class started. She makes up words, which also proves difficult. She has a temper and is not welcome to new ideas. She also leaves examples in class unfinished and assumes everyone knows what they are doing. This class was extremely frustrating
She talks to you like you're in kindergarten. We once played with play-doh. Makes up her own words. Only teaches for half of the class then expects you to try and work on a worksheet with material that was barely covered.
Exams are harder than anything you'll ever do in class. Stay away from this teacher if you can... Never wish I would have gotten this teacher.
Absolutely brutal teacher. Treats students as if they were children. Forces you to work in groups unnecessarily in class rather than teach the material. Refuses to release solutions to practice exams for fear of students taking pictures and redistributing them. Written homework as well as online homework due routinely. Don't take her class!!!
She was awesome! She gave very clear notes, explained topics thoroughly. Homework had unlimited attempts, but there were write-ups every week, which weren't bad. Pretty straight forward and fair professor. Tests weren't bad at all. Definitely the best Calc 3 professor.
You learn from the book, not her.
Teaches the class as if you already know the subject. Often the lecture is about 20 minutes, then she hands out a worksheet and tells you to fill it out as if you know exactly what's going on. Examples during the lecture are often only partially worked out. Most of the time you have to read the textbook to understand what's going on.
Inconsistant grader. Gives poor feedback. She will give you a lose outline for take home exams and projects. When she grades them she will mark you down just because you didn't do the exam or project the way she wanted you to even though there was multiple answers. She doesnt write the grade distribution on the sylabas and refuses to tell you.
Just an overall awful teacher
If it was possible to give this professor negative stars I would. She wastes class time, talks to you as though you are in elementary, gives homework on material that she never lectured about. She grades incorrectly and won't give points back. Do yourself a favor and find a good Calc 3 teacher
Some of her teaching methods are kind of annoying (like being forced to work in a group during class), but she teaches fairly well. Her grading is pretty fair too.
Mediocre at best. Kind person. Awful professor. Be prepared to teach yourself and expect no help or leniency.
She never does examples in class, just uses hypothetical variables so you have no idea what is going on. Along with the webassign, she has worksheets that are graded, and writeups. Prepare to not pick up a thing in class and end up trying to teach yourself everything.
She has a fun personality, and is really fair on grading.
Truly one of the worst professors I've ever had. Expect no help. If you do not get it on your first go around, jokes on you. She will rarely respond to your emails for help and if she does, they are typically one sentence. She's a lazy professor that will leave you high and dry, throwing more work at you expecting you to understand it. Bye "A".
Tammi is a super nice person who really cares about your education, but I didn't prefer her teaching style. She rarely did numerical examples in class and usually only talked about the theory and real world applications of problems which was interesting, but didn't help prepare you for homework or tests.
I think Dr. Olson was nice, but her teaching style didn't fit me. I felt that test prep was often very scattered and didn't leave me feeling ready for an exam. Some aspects of seeing fun ways to use Calc were interesting, but I had so much trouble with some of the assignments that I burned a lot of time not making progress.
Avoid this professor, she teaches differently from other professors so it's even more confusing getting help from the learning center. She is not clear what is due, when or how much they are worth. What is in the book and lecture is not necessarily what you see in the test. If you are a virtual learner you are at a sever disadvantage over all.
She was not the best at giving lectures, you can tell that she is very intelligent and she is very knowledgeable, but she cannot convey it. She gives very little examples that are relevant and it is hard to learn from the lectures. The tests aren't very difficult, but one question wrong can change a letter grade sometimes.
She's a good professor, passionate about the material. The class isn't hard if you put in the effort to understand the concepts. Some people don't like her style of lecturing, so if you have trouble picking things up in lecture, I don't recommend her but otherwise I think she is a great option willing to give feedback and has straightforward exams.
It's hard at first, but if you get used to her style, she's not too bad. Write-ups suck, but get the first few over with and they'll become much less frequent. Plus, do good enough on the tests and you don't have a final. Go to class and do some reading on our own if you want to do well
Great teacher for calc 3. Students have to actually put in effort.
Took a little to warm up to her, but she was a good prof.
Great professor for Calc 3. If you don't understand the material just go to her office hours and ask. The lectures were great and informative.
Tammi as a person is great. As a teacher, terrible. She gives out these assignments known as "writeups", which are worth a ton of points but are extremely vague in how she wants you to answer the questions. Give her the correct answer and everything you did to solve the problem and she will still find a way to mark you down for half credit.
If you have questions outside of class, Tami will often suggest you ask your classmates for help, so you're at a significant disadvantage if you don't have friends in the class. Be ready to dedicate a lot of time to reading the textbook if you want to do well, as it may not appear in lecture. Assignment deadlines were very flexible, however.
It's a miracle I got an A, and it certainly wasn't due to Tammi. She's a friendly person but so does not know how to teach. She clearly knows her stuff but her lectures are quite conceptual and she rarely goes over examples/shows how to really do a problem. Most people in the learning center won't help you because she does stuff so differently.
She is a very nice person but a horrible teacher. She is very intelligent but can not teach a class, usually forgets what she is saying, and belittles you if you need help. The learning center gives up on helping her class.
Refuses to answer homework questions in class. Does very few examples with numbers and doesn't follow the worksheet given for the lecture. In-class work does not follow the homework day by day.
She was very clear with the content she was teaching. Grades kind of tough but always fair. Is kind and wants all students to succeed. Was engaging with her lectures. Would give out handouts during classes that were never required for points but would always be good practice for the topic learned in that lecture. Often encouraged using Mathematica.
She did not teach the content whatsoever and requires you to learn solely from the textbook. If you learn best by watching someone solve the problems don't register for her classes. Her exams are small but you can't use notes.
I am taking her Calc III class, and have been trying for this entire semester to ensure my success, however, even after asking friends, using the testing center, and even asking her, I have not been getting the help I need. She doesn't give extra credit, she's a ruthless grader, she is a nice person, however, she isn't the best teacher.
She chill for sure, she also knows her stuff, I studied a lot for tests tho. She doesnt post grades until end of semester so you dont know what grade you have until the end
She has office hours every day, but there's a lot of work in this class including homework due at the start of class pretty much every day. She has write-ups, which are biweekly assignments where she throws you into the deep end of math and expects you to conjure Euler's soul or get out a Ouija board and ask Newton what the hell he was thinking.
I would never take this professor if you want to be happy at Michigan Tech. She has been one of the worst experiences I have had with a professor. Office hours are at 8 am, and she will sit you outside if you do not have a direct question. The grading is extremely unclear and uses 2005 practice tests. Will call your correct answers, "lucky guesses"
I took this class in the fall semester. I got absolutely nothing out of her lectures. She gets frustrated with you when you get confused in office hours and is not a very respectful person at times. I would not recommend taking her class unless you want to suffer for the entire semester.
Don't take calc 3 with her, it's horrible. Literally ANY other professor will be better. She teaches basically only theory in class and then expects you to understand the math you're doing without explaining it. The writeups are also awful. If you get stuck with her good luck.
