Took a class online with him. He highlighted every single answer on every test, and they were open note.
The class is very interesting and he is very lenient with deadlines. The tests are not that hard, just do the weekly assignments and you will be fine.
Probably the easiest E course UCONN has to offer if you keep up with the content. He outlines everything that will be on the exam, which is completely open note. Probably the easiest E course UCONN has to offer.
This course was very easy and I recommend it. He provided his own recorded lectures for every topic and make the lecture quizzes based on them. The prep quizzes were sometimes a nuisance, but manageable. You can receive up to 3 extra credit points as well. A plus is that if you take GSCI1052 LAB, you can knock a lab out of the way easily.
It was an odd class but easy if you do all the work. I only saw Tammo on the occasional Webex call before an exam (in which he went over the whole test). Four 2-4min videos were 1 day of lecture, then a mini prompt/quiz but you had to read the coursebook/textbook to answer some Qs. 5 tests, all open-note and MC. Many small assignments but all easy.
class is completely asynchronous super easy, just watch short videos on each topic and go over the module review and its an easy a. Final is optional if you are happy with your grade before final.
Class was extremely well organized. Professor had a deep passion for the subject, and gave a very detailed outline of what was going to be on the test. If you do the assignments and take notes during his review sessions you'll get an A. Quizzes are multiple choice and have 3 attempts.
Very easy Gen Ed class and professor Reichgelt seems actually interested in the subject he teaches. The entire class schedule is laid out on day one so you always know what and when everything is due. Some quizzes can be difficult to understand but you are given two tries which makes up for some of it. Solid choice of a class and teacher.
Pretty easy gen-ed class. Some prep quizzes were a nightmare and had some overly tough questions. Prep quizzes had 50% easy questions, 35% annoying medium-hard, and 15% questions that felt impossible. The remaining work, making and answer questions from lecture, was pretty easy. I liked how his lectures were short and to the point. Exams were fair.
Professor Reichgelt was a great teacher for this class. There were a lot of assignments but they were all very easy. We had a lot of exams, but he dropped the lowest grades in each category including exams so the final is optional.
Professor Reichgelt is wonderful. You can tell he's really passionate about his job. I went into this class with 0 expectations but he somehow managed to make me excited about rocks lol. He does do lecture participation but the lectures are so chill it really wasn't a big deal. Homework is easy as long as you read. Great professor.
Such a good young guy and one of the easiest courses ive taken. Really chill vibes, don't have to go to lectures to do good in class, no textbook necessary.
Tammo is one of the best professors I've had at UConn. He's a young, chill guy and makes it pretty easy to get a good grade in his class.
His lectures can be a bit boring but you can tell he is passionate and is very chill and approachable. Very easy class, as long as you go over his exam review, you will get an A. Extra credit is available too
I love this prof! Tammo is super passionate about Geo science and brings it to his lectures (def don't skip!). Assignments are clear and easy to do, and he provides ample extra credit. Genuinely caring professor. Take any of his classes if you can!
Very easy class. Tammo is a young, passionate professor that wants to give you the A in the class. You don't even need to go to class, you can get by with reading the textbook and reviewing the lecture slides.
Took this class for a mandatory science credit, and overall it was fine. The lectures were boring as most of it was just reading off of slides, but Professor Reichgelt is really sweet and genuinely cares about the subject that he is teaching.
Great teacher, definitely recommend. You can tell he cares a lot about the subject and his students, I am going to miss taking his class. The grades are very spread out, so if you fail a couple of tests or assignments it won't affect your grade. You get 3 attempts on quizzes and he tells you where to find the answer for each question.
GSCI is so far outside of my major and yet he made this class so interesting and enjoyable for me. Tammo is very passionate about the material and it shows when he teaches. He can be pretty funny sometimes, even when he's not trying to be. He just wants everyone to succeed and makes it easy to get an A. Definitely recommend taking a class with him!
Take this class! For those who need an easy class, this is the one! However, if you also care about the content, it is a great place to start. I am not a geoscience/earth-science teacher, but I loved the content given. Also, the professor is very understanding and will listen to you!
Amazing professor. A lot of homework/ class work, but it's do able for the most part. The hw gives three attempts, and if you're stuck on questions he has no problem helping you to find the right answers after class. Very caring and funny prof, made my semester a lot less stressful.
Professor Reichgelt is a great professor. There are a lot of weekly assignments, for example, 2 quizzes, 2 essays, and a forum. He is very generous with the grading. He wants his students to succeed and truly learn about the Anthropocene.
Keeps class interesting and is very knowledgable
He is great, very funny. Lectures are required bc he uses PollEv, but it is easy. Hw is readings before each class and a quiz that goes along with it, every week. Besides that, midterm was a little difficult, but if you read the textbook it will be fine. Open note everything. 2 major projects, not bad. Overall good guy, easy class, 9/10
He's the man. Great professor, and an even better guy. Nice, funny, and passionate about rocks. Just show up 70% of the time and you'll do fine.
Awesome professor. If you show up to lectures and do the homework, you're guaranteed a good grade. He's a very wholesome professor who cares about his students.
Hands down the EASIEST lab class at UCONN. Course is extremely straight forward, and quiz answers are on Quizlet. Exams are a little tricky, but if you study you'll be fine. Lab section isn't terrible, but the only lab practical at the end of the year is very hard, so make sure to study for that. Easy A class, with a good amount of extra credit.
Great professor. Definitely one of the easiest labs at UConn. There are several opportunities for extra credit and the lectures are fairly interesting. The labs can be annoying, it basically just depends on the TA you get. This class is a good option if you need to take a lab course, just be aware that the lab can be tedious rather than difficult
Professor Reichgelt is an awesome professor, and it's very obvious he cares about what he is teaching. Class is very laid back, and you answer questions using polleverywhere for participation. If you submit all of your assignments and go to class, you should be able to avoid taking the final and still end with an A thanks to his grading process.
Tammo's a great guy! Laid back and totally understanding when it comes to missing a due date or deadline. Class is mandatory as there are participation polls every class, but it's not too bad. Not a big fan of science, but I did find the class interesting and enjoyable.
Overall he is a good professor and is passionate about what he is teaching. Going to class and doing the polls is part of what adds into your grade. He gives 2 prep quizzes a week which also adds up to your grade. you need 92.5 points in the class to get an A to not have to take the final.
I absolutely love Tammo as a professor! His lectures are interesting and he offers many different ways to get grades into the grade book. The lab is boring and not that fun if you do not have a good TA. TAs are important to getting help and I think he could improve on his own TAs in my opinion.
As someone who nearly failed Adam Fry's BIOL1102 until I switched to pass/fail, this class was a godsend. The labs are by far the hardest part, but if you have 1 smart teammate, a nice TA & do the extra credit, you'll get an A. The TA's just want effort. The lectures are ez if u don't miss a class & u can even submit the quizzes late within reason.
Good professor who cares about what he teaches. Easy A. Two midterms + final (non-cumulative). Have to attend a certain number of classes to get full participation credit but can afford to skip some. There are one or two graded questions during each lecture, but they don't count for much.
Professor Reichgelt created a great classroom environment, ranging from his detailed stories to engaging activities. This was a class that I looked forward to every week and gave me the courage to raise my hand and participate in class legitimately. Although it's only my first year at college, I don't know if another elective could top this class.
AWESOME guy. If you are looking for an E course TAKE THIS!!! Class is interesting and exams are open note.
Professor Reichgelt is the kind of professor you'd absolutely love to be friends with. Great guy. Really loves the material and makes it interesting. A lot of busy work, but it is pretty manageable. Professor Reichgelt actively tries to make sure the course doesn't overwhelm students. I'd definitely recommend as an E course
This class is easy, but Tammo made it enjoyable as well. As long as you attend lecture, he is very engaging and respectful and definitely wants everyone to do well AND understand the content. Not too much homework, assignments are relatively easy and exams were open note. Also an opportunity to not even need the final exam. Very nice guy and class.
Professor Reichgelt makes it so easy to do well and actually enjoy his class. He's a really great guy and his lectures are very engaging. Easy grader, but make sure to go to lectures as much as you can. Participation is a decent part of the grade. If you do every assignment you won't have to take the final!
Personally, I didn't love this professor. His lectures were all over the place, and he often spoke using jargon, making it difficult to understand. I took this class thinking I would find dinosaur history interesting, but boy was I wrong. As someone who NEVER falls asleep in class, I fell asleep 5+ times. As a person though he is super nice. Easy A
I won't lie, I am a psych major so this class did not pique my interest but Tammo made it very easy to be engaged in class. There is in class participation that counts towards your grade and a quiz after each class but it is fairly easy (no more than about 10 questions). He is also very kind and it shows during his lectures!
Tammo was an amazing professor, if you're thinking about this class to fill a requirement or anything definitely do it. It's a very easy class, and he's also just a great guy, very interested in what he's teaching and very understanding. If you have enough points by the end of the semester (which is easy to do) then you don't have to take the final
Incredibly thorough in explaining topics, you can tell he genuinely wants to make sure everyone gets it. Also ridiculously funny, and would do some fun demonstrations in class. Definitely go to lecture; the book covers a lot but the exams are only on what he talks about in class, which is significantly less. Love the guy, would totally take again.
He does give a decent amount of reading, but he also goes over the material well during lectures, with some great humor sprinkled in. He also records the lectures, so we don't have to, in case you miss a class. There are Youtube videos he puts in Husky CT to reinforce information needed for his prep quizzes. He is VERY knowledgeable in this topic.
TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Tammo has such a passion for the topics he speaks about that is absolutely contagious. He is very accessible outside of the classroom and is willing to work with students to improve their grades. Lectures aren't mandatory because the slides are posted online, but I still recommend going because he makes them fun and interesting.
Amazing professor!! Really nice and he's passionate about what he teaches. Interesting2! Attended all of his lectures because I feel like he's so passionate that I would feel terrible if I skipped any, however I know people who never came to class and did well. Presentations posted, midterm, and final/group project. Prep quizzes, 2 attempts, easy.
great professor. gives so many extra credit opportunities, and its honestly hard to not get an A. instead of a final, you can do a group project, which is similar to extra credit assignments, and directions are clear. quizzes are short, all online, and two attempts, easy to get 100 on each
Tammo was really great and so funny. He genuinely enjoyed talking about science and was super sweet and goofy. He is really good at responding and to emails and the work for the class was pretty easy. Most of the stuff you could find online. For midterms and finals, it was mostly multiple choice, but he goes over the questions in class.
Loved this professor, I am taking him again for my Lab. While the exams are a little difficult, everything else in the class is pretty easy. He is very nice and easygoing. I would tell everybody to take this class.
Professor Reichgelt was a professor who cared about what he was talking about. All lectures were on HuskyCT so attendance wasn't necessary. There were prep quizzes due before class but you get two attempts. The only exams were the midterm and final but you get a cheat sheet for the midterm and the option for a group final instead of a paper exam.
Very charismatic and funny. He gives you so many chances for extra credit that you can get an A without much effort. I got >105 for reference
very chill and funny, course was not difficult at all, was usually accessible for help on work, once in a while there would be in class participation quick assignments but you would have the whole day to work on it so you usually didn't need to be in class to do it
Great guy and willing to help students learn. Nearly all of the graded material consists of textbook quizzes (the textbooks are free), lecture participation questions, and a midterm + final (or final project). None of the material or assignments are particularly difficult but there is plenty of extra credit anyways.
Tammo was great and I would recommend taking a class with him, he made class interesting and fun!
lot of material but there is extra credit opportunities. exams are online and he gives a study guide. attendance isnt necessary but there are participation tasks posted at random. he records lectures. good class to take if needing a lab. lab is done by TA and is hard but only 25% of grade. textbook is free online.
Tammo was an easy professor. Your final grade will consist of 22% prep quizzes (1 per class & open note), 10% google earth assignments (2 per semester), 18% class participation (just a random assignment posted randomly, don't need to be present to be able to do), 30% midterm (2 per sem), 20% final or group project. Many extra credit opportunities.
Super easy! Midterm and final was online no lockdown, or for the final you could do a group project. Never went to lecture and it didn't matter. Only reason I got a B+ was because I turned in a bad group project (got a fair grade for the effort that was put in) and I didn't do all of the extra credit. Should be a breeze if you stay on top of things
Tammo is super nice! The class isn't too hard, just make sure to submit the quizzes (which are online twice a week) and make sure to do the two homework assignments. For the final, you can choose to do a group project and you have like a month to do it. Two midterms that are online as well. Would definitely take again and he's pretty funny
Tammo is a great professor and he's very passionate about earth science!! Class isn't too hard either (some in class participation, assignments, open note exams, can choose either a final exam or final project). Also, do all the extra credit he gives. Tammo gave so much extra credit to my class that I was able to finish with over 100% in the class!
Tammo and this class made for the best lab course experience ever. Tammo is a fair grader with lots of opportunities to do extra credit. His exams and quizzes always match the lectures and assigned readings. The labs are fun and interactive. Attendance isn't required, but he is so interesting and sweet that I went anyway. Highly recommend.
I took this class as a gen ed and was so pleasantly surprised by how amazing a professor he is. His lectures are actually interesting, and I am not even interested in the topic. There is homework for every class but it is really easy and the mid-term is fully open-note. Final can be taken as a project
I took this as a gen-ed, so wasn't super interested in the content. It's easy to zone out during lecture. That said, this class is super easy, with lecture participation that's open several days past and lots of extra credit. I took the lab too, which isn't too difficult with a good group but is tedious. Exams are open note!
He's super nice and super funny. Makes learning fun, I would definetely recommend taking his class, it was very interesting!
Only issue is his grading, you start at a 0 and it goes up as he adds the assignments which is annoying. Quizzes twice a week with a lot of reading but they aren't hard, plus some other homework. Lab is tedious, make sure you work with people who will put in some effort. 2 midterms and a final, but you can do a project instead of the final.
Prof. Reichgelt is the best. I took earth science as a gen. ed, and he got me extremely interested in the subject. He's always willing to answer questions and set up his lessons in very engaging ways. The class isn't hard, but I'd recommend going to the lectures, as you'd be missing out on a lot of what makes the class so fun by doing so.
Great professor super nice and easy grader. 2 short quizzes weekly that you get two attempts at. Random participation assignments that he keeps open for a bit. 2 google earth assignments. 2 exams and a final or a group project. Exams are based on lectures. Lots of extra credit. Lectures are recorded and streamed and he posts slides.
He is just a guy who likes rocks, is very funny, and makes lectures entertaining. He records them anyway, so attendance isn't mandatory, but I liked to come to class to get the prep quizzes (HW, basically) done. Sometimes, the prep quizzes got annoying, but EC made up for it. Highly recommend it for a gen-ed it was easy. Online test no lockdown
bros a botanist teaching geology. He grades out of a total of 100 and adds point as you go, so you don't really know your grade until the very end. I hate the google assignments with a burning passion. I did the lab with this as well, lab was difficult don't listen to people. They are also changing all the labs next semester. Good luck
If you do all the extra credit and put in some effort for the assignments, it should be difficult to not get a good grade in this class. The hardest part was the labs, but if you have a good TA and group they are doable.
(Fall 2023) Tammo is a really good professor. His assignments and quizzes were straightforward. Lectures were taught well too. It's easy to not pay attention in lecture because of how long it is and the subject can be a bit boring at times but overall nothing too bad. Guaranteed easy A. If you're debating taking this class you should take it, trust
Easy A. The exams and quizzes are online and not difficult, but I would strongly suggest doing the extra credit he offers throughout the semester as well as the extra credit lab because they can be huge grade boosters. Difficult lab, but all labs are. I'm terrible with this subject matter but still managed to get an A. Lab is 25% of lecture grade.
Never went to lecture and still got an A. Great gen-ed to take and lab is tough, but doable.
Chill professor, recorded lectures, take-home exams and final. Lab is tough — success depends on having a solid group. Most hard work happens in the lab, so be ready.
I loved this class! Lab was hard sometimes but you don't even have to read the textbook in lecture to get an A on the midterms and final, he does a review session before and pretty much tells you all the answers. Super nice guy too
Exams weren't hard & you don't even need to go to class but watch his review sessions in which he pretty much covers the content. There are also pre-lecture quizzes and participation hw which count for your grade & its frequency gets really annoying. Just how the course is designed. But he offers a lot of extracredit do all! Lab is the WORST part
Best professor at UCONN. Don't have to go to class because all lectures are recorded, but you don't even have to watch them. 2 quizzes a week, but they're so easy and you get 2 attempts to get the highest grade. Final can be a group project or you can take exam. Midterm and final are so easy and are online. Lots of extra credit and some assignments
Good professor. Easy course. Tests are open book. You do have to do a lecture participation and a quiz every for every single class, but attendance is not required. Labs were pretty difficult though.
This is a great class if you need to fufill a requirement especially as a junior/senior but make sure to participate in all online quizzes and participation. I went to 2 lectures max and I was able to complete everything as he records lectures and posts them online and doesn't require attendance. Just be on top of due dates!
The class was super easy. All the assignments were done online and with notes. The midterm was online too. The final was optional and you could do a project instead.
Tammo was a G. His lectures are interesting and straight to the point. He gives long due dates for assignments and is genuinely a good guy. All homework/exams are online, open book. I totally recommend taking his class.
My absolute king. So nice and so sweet. If I could I would take any of his classes. Most of the assignments and all the quizzes are online so like you would actually have to try hard to fail. Great gen ed. Love this dude. I wholeheartedly believe he's a godsend from heaven.
i really liked tammo and this class! there were mini quizzes due the day of every lecture but they were online and super easy for the most part. lectures were interesting but definitely not mandatory to pass, as everything was pretty easy to teach yourself. the midterm and final were both online and super easy. easy A and tammo is so sweet!!!
He's the boy. Attendance isn't mandatory. Quizzes are light and the participation isn't hard at all. Best teacher & class to take for an E course. Well planned out syllabus and class. Very much recommend
Tammo is my fave. Posts slides, offers (fun) extra credit but you def wont even need it. Quizzes and participations are very easy and can be done so fast. You dont even need to go to class as class participation is open for days after the actual class, and lectures are recorded. Very easy A, and such a caring and thoughtful prof.
This class was so enjoyable for an E course. He graded things extremely fast, and offered plenty of extra credit opportunities. There was a midterm and a final project (or exam). Around 2 quizzes a week with 2 attempts, so it was extremely manageable to get an A. Lecture wasn't mandatory but if you do go his lectures are interesting.
I would recommend this to anyone for an E course. He graded things extremely quickly and always gave good feedback. He made 2 attempts for the weekly quizzes, and there was 1 midterm and 1 final exam/project. Lecture wasn't mandatory and the participations were usually due a week after class. He made this class very manageable, yet interesting.
Actually, the worst grader and hard to reach outside of class. Not to mention rude email responses.
Don't take. There is group participation assignments that are due every week on either Wednesdays or Fridays, and he grades them as if they are exams. My partner and I forgot to put both our names on the assignment one week, and instead of just adjusting the grade accordingly after turning in the assignment he gave me a 0.
This class is soooo lecture dense and boring. 2 small online quizzes each week which aren't bad, same w/ homework. Extra credit assignments are not easy whatsoever. Graded on a point scale so how ever many points you collect is your final grade. Overall, stay away from this class if you're looking for an easy E course. Do not recommend.
Ignore any negative reviews. There are not group participation not sure what that guy was talking about, maybe he chose to do it with a partner because this professor is so nice he lets you do that. So many extra credit opportunities, you do not even need to go to lectures as they are posted online and slides are too. Would take 1000 times again
He's very knowledgeable about what he teaches and clearly likes to teach. His exams aren't too bad if you pay attention in class. His lectures were recorded and posted and there were two quizzes a week, and participation every 2 weeks about. Nothing was hard at all and the quizzes you get two tries for so I suggest getting friends in class.
very easy class. Literally just do the homework and put time into the final project and do the extra credit and you get an A. The quizzes are very easy.
Fun class to fill a credit with if you need to. Interesting subject with an engaging professor and minimal amounts of work.
he is and amazing teacher who cares about his students and doesn't make test to hard
He has such kind dad energy! There's weekly online quizzes (2 tries), participation activites that you have a week to do, a mid-term and lastly an option to do a group final project or a final exam. All lectures are recorded so you don't have to go to class, but I would encourage it bc no one goes and it kinda gets depressing. TAKE TS, literal goat
Tammo is a super cool dude, I literally had this lecture 3 times a week at 9:05am and it was a pretty great way to start my day off. Most of your grade is hw which isn't very difficult, and the class itself is actually very interesting to learn about!
Awesome professor and really easy class! Attendance isn't mandatory and I genuinely don't remember the last time I went. Only two tests or one test and one project. Review days give you the answers
such a good professor. he made class very engaging and the information was actually very interesting and fun. everything is posted so you don't have to go to lecture, but I do recommend going because he's great! I also recommend finding friends in the class for the final project. it was fun and mostly homework based (but very easy).
If you're looking to fulfill a TOI, I would take this class. There are so many extra credit opportunities, and despite failing the midterm, I was able to bring my grade to an A through the extra credit assignments (they're not too hard). Also, u can opt out of the final and do a group project instead, which I loved. Great class, would recommend!
This class was so easy, I stopped showing up to lecture partway through and I was fine. Every weak there were prep quizzes with 2 attempts and participation assignments (not in class). We could choose to do a final project, my groups spent 2 hours on it and got full credit. Just make sure to check Huskyct every week for the assignments
Best professor. He's considerate with workload, uploads recordings of lectures, and his final was online with no lockdown browser. 10/10 would recommend.
This class is generally easy. Lectures aren't required but I went because I felt bad that he was lecturing to no one. Biggest piece of advice...do the group project instead of the final. I took the final and it was pretty difficult. Overall nice guy and is pretty understanding with grading. Extra credit opportunities, just do the work, easy A.
Tammo is a great guy that loves rocks. Class was easy, prep quizzes 2-3x a week worth 1-2pts, and participation 1-2x per week and it is just a question or worksheet you need to do. Class was interesting, and there were only 2 exams, midterm and final. Midterm allowed a cheat sheet and the final was either a exam or group project, you decide.
Amazing professor who cares about what he's teaching. Easy and fun class.
