She is a very hard grader. The class is not fun at all. Boring!
Cherry is VERY unclear to what she wants from her students. She had us do an oral project that seemed very pointless and out of place. She teaches as if its her first day. Shes nice but unexperienced, it seems.

she tries her best to make literature accessible to her students. if you can't get a passing grade you have to be an idiot. she does a great job at being available to her students and gives numerous example for what she wants in her assignments
This professor is a GREAT teacher i actually have fun in her class, she makes learning English easy and simple--her grading is n9ot hard she expects excellence from her students nothing less than that. LIke mentioned before you would be an idiot to fail.

**AVOID** She is the most craziest lady i have ever known. She is easy until the half-way point in the class then her attitude goes downhill. I had an A all through the class and because I was a day late returning in one of my final papers, she failed me.
Material wasn't difficult but sometimes she is unclear about what she wants. She is eager to answer questions.
I agree with a couple of the other postings on here. She was very unclear as to what she wanted and taught as though she were a new teacher. I did find some of her teaching methods to be lively and interesting.
She is one of the best English teachers who will make you want to learn. She uses computer skill builders to help you understand grammar and how to become an excellent writer. I would highly recommend her for anyone seeking to learn and get a good grade :)
She is an excellent professor. She's not easy, but it's college, it should be challenging. There was a high volume of whiny, cry babies in my class, and failures- don't take her class if you aren't going to do the work. She sticks to the syllabus, some say she doesn't- but YES, she does.
She was the worst teacher ever. She was bias and had her own opinions on the topics we were asked to write our papers on. if your viewpoint doesn't match hers...it's a D!

This is another one of those teachers that come with expectations that we should have already established for ourselves when we entered college. She does not baby sit..she's concise and very helpful. She can be challenging but that's all part of the process. She gave me a well deserved "B".

She is a very good teacher. Just go to class and go to her office for help. Ask her to explain the assignments more than once. Be creative on the papers.
Good teacher, just participate and she'll like you. Class is kind of boring but what would you expect with english. Put everything you do in that homework folder and you should do fine. She lets you work a lot in pairs and is there to help you if you need it
GREAT TEACHER! i loved her class sooo much. be ready to write paper after paper.. but she is great about being very clear with the due dates, and she tells you exactly what you need to do. AWESOME CLASS
Very fair, caring and concise with course schedule, no pop quizes or pop tests, summer class was rather boring but regardless it helped my grammar and understanding of lit greatly

I and three others that i know of all failed her class she take off point on essays if you don't have exactly or more then the required amount even if it's 5 words she'll take off 10 percentage points from your essay if it's a 70% you'll get a 60%. Very unclear methods i would not reccommend her to anyone ....take Feldstein
She will never fail you
Mrs. Cherry is a very caring individual. She has zero tolerance for slackers. If you are willing to write (which by the way is a requirement for ENG 1101) and show passion for what you are writing about, then you should be fine. Essays are essays, all english classes require them. If you need help, and show up in her office, she will help.
Pretty easy just go to class and do your work

Nice lady, but has attitude spurts. Can make fun of you, her helpfullness isn't very helpful. Boring and dosn't teach well. All I heard was "blah blah blah essay pronouns blah blah blah"
she very confusing. Three of my friends and me took her for enc 0021 and is taking her now for enc 1101 and she looks at us to answer a lot of the questions, she acts like we know and then she will make a commit like you should have learned this in enc0021 but she didn't teach it in the first place. DON'T TAKE HER IF WANT TO UNDERSTAND AND PASS.

I hate english classes, but this one wasnt so bad. if she gives a reading assignment on the sylabus, then there will be a quiz on it the next class, but she never annouces them. I'm not good at writing, but she was helpful after class. If you read what she assigns beforehand, then the quizes are easy. I got a B.
Ms Cherry is not a bad teacher she just does not clarify things very well! She also is really bad about getting your papers back too you on time. Also if you dont like group work she is not the teacher to take! EVERYTHING is group work and presenting if infront of the class. I used to love english but she made me just plain hate it
On the first day we had to get into groups and DRAW PICTURES to represent our group's name...it was pretty much down hill from there. She's a sweet lady but I don't recommend her.
Anyone who takes Eng1101 and expects it to be easy is just kidding themselves. I didn't know about RateMyProfessor until it was too late. I took her class & found out she got bad ratings - but luckily she turned out to be an awesome teacher! She helps you when it comes to writing essays and offers help when needed. The group work is really easy.
I thought her class was easy for the most part, she can be a little tough on her grading system but the main thing she is looking for is detail when writing a paper. I thought the class was easy ad she is always willing to help you!
She is a very nice lady and loves her subject, BUT very unorganized, forgets to collect homework and will ask for it weeks later. I found her unaccountable. The classroom lacked energy.
She seriously takes you back to junior high. This is a very easy class. Just do the homework and/or turn them in on time, write your (not very difficult to write) essays, and you're set. Tru dat, though-- the class does lack energy... but she's actually kinda funny.
Prof Cherry is very disorganized. Her instructions are not clear and she is often difficult to follow. She is not a hard grader, allows homework to be turned in late and allows rewrites on essays to improve grade. The disorganization and lack of clarity were big turn offs for me.

Easy class, but professor is very unorganzied. Does not update grades regularly but if you do all the work you are going to get an A or B.
Prof. Cherry is a very good teacher. You are required to read Models for Writers and then you take a short quiz on what you read. Rules for writers is a good book and you do exercises out of it. Four essays a semester but are really easy and she reads your rough draft and gives you feedback. Very easy class if you do the work and show up!
very easy class as long as you show up. i never did any homework other than the 5 papers you must type which are easy and only a few pages long. just fix your rough draft as she likes it and youll get an A. i also failed my final and still got an A.
Prof Cherry is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet, but she should probably not be a professor! She is extremely disorganized and semi-clueless. She is always willing to help, but tends to confuse you more when you ask a question.
Very interesting class. Enjoyed it. Take notes, do the homework, participate in class and take the tests and you will pass. Very good instructor.
Professor Cherry is super nice and very smart. She is great at revising papers for you. She is a bit disorganized. She means well but she misses things a lot. If you don't go to class you will miss things. Don't take notes. This class is easy my lowest essay grade was a 98% but I missed a lot of in class activities. She does not accept late work!

Professor Cherry is indeed confusing. She also gives too much work, assignment after assignment. I could hardly keep up. Other than that nice lady. Just need to slow it down for her own sake.
Professor Cherry is definitely meant to teach elementary school. The class activities are juvenile, at best. She either has no idea what she is talking about, or she has no idea how to communicate so others can understand her. Her writing assignment subjects are terrible. It is still an easy class, just don't expect to gain any knowledge from it.
I really liked the class. The class was overall very easy. She definitely could be clearer but if you show up to class then you'll be fine. Notes are a waste of time.
She was very easy and nice. She will help you if you ask her. She wasn't that clear, at times, but other than that, it was good.
She is one of the worst prfessors i have ever had and this is after 4 years of school. She contradicts herself atleast 3 or 4 times every class. On top of this she shoots down your idea even if it good. I never raised my hand or shared because everyone around me who did was always told how they made no sense when infact she is totally clueless.
BEST ENGLISH PROFESSOR EVER!!!!!!!!!! I love writing, and she's just an easy, fun, helpful, and organized teacher. Definitely would recommend her class to anyone and everyone :)
Very easy, all quizes are online and most allow 2 attemtps, notetaking is uneeded final exam is online and you get 3 attempts super easy
In my opinion Prof. Cherry was one of my least favourite teachers this semester. She was not very helpful and sometimes strayed off the topic.
she is very hard to follow, giving vague instructions most of the time and changes her mind on things too often. She also gives LOTS of homework and does not accept late work. i like enc classes however this has been a harsh experience and i do not recommend anyone taking her class unless they want to revisit high school.
Great Lady! Doesn't always stick to her syllabus though. Also forgetful. Easiset class ever though. You shouldn't be in college if you fail this class. Nothing lower than a high B or A is acceptable because of the easyness.
Prof. Cherry was very nice and willing to help if needed, however you have to make an appt. She was very disorganized, hard to follow and vague. She also changed her mind a lot. It was difficult to know exactly what she expected. I was able to make an A though. Not the worst Prof. ever but not the best either.
Professor Cherry is a delightful woman. She is passionate about the subject. My complaint would be that every class is group work and direction is not always clear. LOTS of homework mostly journals. Must attend every class to make the grade. I am a straight A student and have a low A in her class right now. Just due to all of the work that is due.
Not impressed with her, did not care for always discussing/writing about the same subject matter. I don't recommend taking her.

I recently took this professor last semester in the fall of 2013. She is the most disorganized professor I've ever had. She never returned any of my emails. On the last day of class she had mandatory meetings and didn't show. There were countless assignments i never got credit for resulting in a meeting with a dean. She's horrible

Horrible teacher and very unfair grading system. Also very unclear with assignments even if you follow her syllabus. She doesn't know what she's talking about and will contradict herself quite a bit. She can also be very rude and will talk down to you during discussions if she doesn't agree with you. This woman should not be teaching in a College.

Worst professor I've ever had. I'm not a good writer by any means and she did anything but help improve my skills. She is unintelligent, ignorant, and disorganized. Assigns to much work and grades harshly, quizzes are misleading and lack optimal choices for questions. DO NOT TAKE HER.
She is very uppity and unhelpful. I have gotten straight A's since kindergarten attending harder classes than this. She grades too hard and only gives good grades to her writing style which in my opinion is corny. She likes parody type Things like it was the best of cities it was the worst of cities. Her quizzes were ambiguous . Shes close minded
Never taking this profesor again. I sent her 10 plus emails during the semester because her assignments instructions are vague as all hell. STAY AWAY!!! you have been warned... wish I listened to this site in the first place

I did not learn anything in her class I just did my assignments just to pass. You might as well take an online class she is no help but if you do not come to class she does not care for you
I love Professor Cherry. She is a great teacher and grades fairly. For this class you have to read the books. Know your proper grammar, and the structure of an essay. Do your homework and make sure you are in class for quizzes because there are no make ups. I definitely would take her again.
Awful Professor. Changes assignments and due dates whenever she pleases. Very forgetful. Argues with opinion. Does not explain things very well. Does not respond to emails quickly if at all. Will never take another class with her. Find a different professor!
She is a nut and should return to school to learn how to be a professor that understands own assignments being given. FSCJ should really re-evaluate its professors instead of just paying them to show up. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!
She does not email back, assigns a significant amount of homework such as; reading multiple short essays, and out of the books for class, discussion boards, tests(yes more than one and she posts them the day they're due), and quizzes all due for one week of class. Spare yourself, don't take this class.
I had more work in this class alone than a couple of my classes put together, an average of about 3 homework assignments a week. The course information was very boring and opinionated. She's a very hard grader when it comes to your writing, but I never got less than a C when I probably could have. Odds are you will not enjoy this class.

Her topics that she relates assignments to in discussions are very relatable.
She is a nice person and provides wonderful feedback to really help you develop your writing skills, however, the amount of work required for her class is mind boggling. I have had to do more work for this one class than my other three courses combined.

It was very tough in her class. You only use the book she gives you only to half way of the semester. Her essays were probably the hardest things completely. DO NOT TAKE THEM LIGHTLY! They are each worth 100 points so they are pretty much your test grade for the class. She also grades her essay particularly on grammar and punctuation, so be careful

Assignments are unclear and she is equally unclear herself in what she expects from her students. Grading is unforgiving and subjects she requests we write about are out of touch and out of date. Don't take her classes!
if you want to read about all things black and women empowerment then by all means this is your professor. if not, then she is not.
I read all of the previous reviews and was worried about taking this class. Three things, 1) You are a college student, you are going to be writing a lot of papers. 2) She was crystal clear about her expectations in her syllabus. If you don't understand what she is looking for, ask! 3) Easy grades help no one. Overall, great class.
Pros - nice lady. If she can get a PhD, anyone can. cons - chaotic. class started with about 20 people, 1 month in we have 8. Boring, tedious, does little "teaching". Has put incorrect grades in grade book. Disorganized, unenthusiastic and generally 'out of touch'. Doesn't empathize with students, not a student friendly course.
Online Class Review Make sure you read the syllabus because even though she says something is due on one day, the syllabus says other wise. Also read the announcements because she is not clear on when things are due.
I'm so surprised on how low the score is. I was a little nervous at first but I did really well in the class. The extra credit will help you out a lot trust me. She didn't do a good job with teaching about grammar, but everything else was great. It was weird that the class started out with 15 people and it ended with 6 and 2 didn't show up 4 final.
She is really kind, but I took a compact class and it was SO stressful. We had a ton of homework and she was not flexible if a student missed something.
3 tags isn't enough. All of my classmates are worried about just trying to pass. She is very strict about homework due dates and if you miss a day of class beware because she will give you 0s even if you turn in your assignments. There is a paper every week and the last paper is 8+ pages long. Then she's a very tough grader on top of it all.

Interesting see bad reviews because I didn't think she was too bad. Lectures on grammar were kinda bad and disorganized. But, as long as you put effort into the essay's and watch for grammar, you should be fine.
Professor Cherry does like to broaden your horizon on reading material but it was all worth reading and I learned a lot in this class.
Make you do group stuff.
Very nice and kind person. She does give great feedback when it comes to grading papers. The only issue is whether the student can read the feedback or not since the handwriting is a little messy. Get ready to read multiple chapters of a book per day because you WILL get quizzed on it and are required to give good detail as to what happened.
I definitely would not recommend this professor to anyone. While she does make it clear what is expected, she is an extremely tough grader and feedback was minimal to none. Frequent mis grading on top of that, and seems to lack empathy for students. By far worst class experience I have had.
This professor will grade you somewhat lightly until you make a mistake she doesnt like. She will then start nit picking every assignment. She also seems to have very little knowledge of computers. She will post an assignment that leads no where and then not answer emails about it until a day before its due. Will never recommend to anyone
She talks a lot, but that it kind of what I expect an English Teacher to do. She does give homework, but the assignments were easy and straight to the point. There are about 3-4 major essays you have to write, including a research paper at the end. The lectures are very boring and slow, but she can be funny sometimes.

With the pandemic already being stressful, her workload is extremely long. An essay due just about every week and then an 8+ page paper at the end. Not very big on communication and has very high expectations.
Great professor but ALOT!! of work. The class was for a full 16 weeks however, we had at least 3 assignments due weekly which where lengthy and not super descriptive as far expectations were concerned. Papers were due so close behind each other you would have thought this was an accelerated class.
All of her assignments are related to some sort of social justice issue. It would have been nice had it been about something informative instead some agenda. She's very picky about assignments. She is not very quick at replying to emails. If you're into social justice causes and loathsome assignments this is for you. If not, take someone else

She is a tough grader. Even if you think you did good she finds any reason to lower your grade. Does not really respond to emails as well as she claims. Had a high B until the end of class she dropped my grade to a C, even though I did every single assignment and never really had any bad grades on assignments. DO NOT take her class!!!

Even after 2 months still hasn't responded to any form of contact whether phone or email, their is no way of getting in contact with this teacher, Any assignment you turn in needs to be grammatically flawless or else you will be lucky to pass the class. There has been many bad grades with no explanation and she will never regrade anything.
She has a strong political agenda. Many of our subjects related back to LGBTQ+ ideas and the Disability Rights Movement. This didn't bother my but I know its not some people's cup of tea. My main issue with her is she will not respond to emails. She also doesn't really communicate with students other than the last 10 minutes of her class.

Whatever you do, Do Not Take Her Class. She gives assignments and just says the explanation is enough to help you when some students do not know her style yet. Gives many assignments, heavy grader, tests first, explanation later. Please choose another teacher. I regret taking her class. There were 5 assignments in the first week.....yeah 5.
Probably the most incoherent classroom I've ever witnessed. I have not had a single assignment fluidly and literately describe to me what I am supposed to do and how I am supposed to do it. Every assignment is an incoherent bubble of buzz words, and then a bunch of random incorrectly-named documents from 2019 to do for homework. Actual delusional.
English Teacher Final Boss. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Expect to spend more time doing work for her class than all your other classes combined. She also grades very critically so just "completing" the mass amounts of assignments wont cut it. As well as giving five assignments a week not a single one will give you clear directions so you gotta wing it.

Tammy's class is no walk in the park - she's a tough grader who doesn't always respond to emails. But if you stay engaged, the material can be really interesting. Unstuck study was a lifesaver for my study prep.
I took this class while my dad was super sick so I had to fly across the country all the time to see him. I would communicate this with her but it didn't matter. I still attempted to keep up but everything is mislabeled and her instructions are incredibly vague. I was always at office hours and emailing her, she NEVER responded to canvas & emails
I knew immediately that getting a good grade in her class wasn't going to be easy. However, she is a tough grader for a good reason. She wanted us to learn, so she gave us the grade we deserved. I do not understand the complaints about the amount of papers. It is an English class at the collegiate level. It is typical.
I just started school and she assigned like 12 assignments on a saturday night. Her work is easy to me but so much unnecessary work.
I enjoyed taking her honors course a few semesters ago. She was kind and we wrote papers on horror movies. It was quite enjoyable.

Only 3 essays but sooooo many assignments building up to the essays. At least 4 assignments due each week, Instructions are vague and takes points off for the most minuscule things. EVERY SINGLE assignment is based on the same topic. Isn't sympathetic towards students and rarely responds to emails. Not difficult just tedious and busy work.
she is an AWFUL professor. she assigns like 6 assignments a week and NEVER responds to emails. marked my mid term late even though i did it on time, let her know multiple times and on top of all that we quite literally emailed the day the mid term was due. DO NOT take this course by all means. u will be stressed every second and she will not care.
also forgot to add to my last post that i let her know that i had to get surgery on my wrist and was not able to type because my hand was in a cast and she STILL never responded and continued to give heavy workloads/never gave extra time when i expressed difficulties in the course. Very tough grader. Places too much emphasis on the textbook. Doesn't do the teaching herself.
She doesn't respond to her emails at all. I haven't been able to take an exam all because of her. She can't respond to emails but can grade my other work? And the fact that I'm not the only one experiencing this says a lot about her.
Directions are very unclear. Every single time she gave us group work, students would always ask others what we're doing. Feedback shows lack of understanding towards students. She tried to move up the due date for a group project and only decided not to because most of us disagreed and needed more time. She's a nice lady, but unfit as a professor.
