This "new" lab format sucks, lab reports are graded harshly, make sure you know why EVERYTHING was done during the lab, oh ya and good luck with the spec. test, all you get is a 2 hour lecture on the stuff, I don't know anyone doing well in this lab. What a waste.

The labs themselves are pretty easy, though the TAs may not have any idea what "should" happen. I think at some points I became the TA as often questions were directed at me instead of our TA. The reports are a combination of lame and pointless, and the grading on them is somewhat unclear. The class is designed so 95% get a B or better.

Bless this woman. She made organic chemistry pleasant. The class is difficult, but easier than any other organic chemistry class you will encounter. It is quiz and exam heavy, but small cheat sheets are usually allowed. So instead of just having to memorize a bunch of random reactions you do have to think mechanistically.

Why does the prof make progress quizzes that hard, does she want to fail us

The lab portion of the class is pretty interesting. There is some work to be done but nothing too difficult. The issue with this class is that large of your grade is based on progress quizzes and an assembly final with very little direction on what those will cover. The TAs are not able to help. Practical is graded too harshly.

I highly recommend the class CHM3217 it will be way easier than taking the organic 1 and 2 sequence. Dr. Davidson is a very approachable and entertaining professor. She really cares about her students and does her best to help you learn the content.

She gives great lectures, show up and focus and you shall do good. The exams were very fair, free response, with no suprises. Partial credit was given due to this. She is also very accesible for office hours and answers any question or will repeat any concept for you. Much easier then orgo1/orgo2 due to having a great professor !

SHE IS THE BEST!!!!! Easily one of my favorite professors at UF. She is the most kind professor who makes her classes fun to be in. I never feel that the 2 hour blocks are long and she makes organic chemistry very easy to understand. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER!!!!!!

I really enjoyed having Dr. Davidson! She is so kind and her passion for chemistry makes lectures much more interesting. The class is obviously hard because of the content, but she uses ALEKS in a much more constructive and less time-intensive way than I experienced in gen-chem at UF. I can't recommend her enough!!

I enjoyed all the labs until half way through the semester when you basically could not get a product with any of the experiments. Its enjoyable in the lab. but the knowledge checks are sneaky hard. the practical is harshly graded. and the lab exam was very challenging, harder than any of my other finals. drops about half of people out of a A.

I absolutely love Dr.Davidson!!!! By far the best professor I have encountered at UF! The class material is very difficult (obviously it's orgo 1+2 squeezed together) but if you go to lectures, study after class ... it's very doable! No matter what, do not fall behind! She's a wonderful professor but you have to study a lot and put in the hours!

this is the only prof u need for orgo1/2, best class ever. LOTS OF HW that will take hours due every 2 days, 5 quizzes, 2 exams.. study lecture notes only and use study guides and NEVER miss class. if you have time management and good study skills, you will get an A.. dont take if you hate hw or are lazy, because it gets hard FAST. The best professor I've had so far. Quizzes and tests are difficult but manageable. Makes the double-block lecture very enjoyable (even including a break in the middle). Super friendly and open. If you don't need two years of ORGO, I recommend taking Dr. Davidson's class.

Dr. Davidson is one of the best professors I have had thus far at UF. She is super transparent about the material. She knows it is difficult and will help you if you are having trouble. She does a great job of using analogies to make the material more understandable and also gives little breaks with a random comedic story. GO TO CLASS! GO TO O.H!

Most of the class is doable including the practical after thorough review of its procedure. The final is more of a challenge. Despite some difficult personal situations Dr. Davidson has been extremely accommodating. Orgo is always to be hard but Dr. Davidsons compassion made the class more bearable.

Lab practical grading is obfuscated and is practically luck based. You will never interact with the professor and you need to hope for a good TA. She also makes you buy her $50 lab notebook.

First, Dr. Davidson is a lovely person. She cares about your success, especially so if you put in sufficient effort. Her lectures are the best I've attended in my college career. She uses real-world analogies for a lot of the concepts she explains. This can be a notoriously difficult class, but you can succeed if you're proactive and attentive.

Professor Davison is the best professor I had during my time so far at UF. She explains topics in detail with analogies that helps connect ochem to everyday topics, class quizzes and tests are fair and reflect lecture topics well with some reasonable additional challenge. It is critical to attend classes, her office hours are also extremely helpful
