I think she is a good & helpful professor but her exams were pretty hard. You have to prepare for multipul choices, true/false, & essay questions. You also better to study every single thing you learned on the class for the exams. I think her quiz & study guide were a kind of useless for exams; her questions were unpredicable
She is a really good professor. MAke herself available when you need help. Get a digital voice recorder!! She talkes really fast and the information is difficult.
Tough teacher. Has excellent background in Chemistry (PhD) confused the class on A&P information. Tests are a mixture of multiple choice T/F - correct false. and essay - tough!!
I really enjoyed this class and Dr. Domanski. It was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken simply because of the volume of information you are responsible for knowing. I would a class from her again!
great teacher who is willing to help you, just stop by her office. Her tests are hard but if you go online to the chat room the day before a test she will answer your questions. She is a hard teacher but goto class and use the worksheets, and study and you will be fine. I will def take her again
Took the 8 week summer semester. The material was difficult and was coming at us at a fast pace. Attendance was not require but I highly recommend not missing lectures but of the material. Dr. Domanski is available to her students and willing to help. She has awesome fill in blank handouts to go along with lecture and to help study for the tests.
You will definitely learn from Dr. Domanski if you apply yourself and attend class and lab. Outstanding professor!
teaches LAB as if she's going through coffee withdraw. and always uses dept head as why she can't help students. advice enroll in 2 bio classes at same time then attend. keep one you like and drop the other before drop add period ends. Bio dept does not post instructors name during registration and this is the best way to counteract that.
She is awesome! the class itself is difficult but she makes an effort to make sure you get it. you only have to go to class for the quizzes (but i wouldnt recommend skipping, you will fall behind). the class is fast paced, but she makes it as easy as possible to follow along. id tell anyone to take her class, shes great!
I would not reccomend...she has a hard time teaching entry level college students because shes stuck on her PHD! I asked for help once and her remark was..we already talked about that! very unfair grader.
She's Awesome!
Domanski is a great professor. She really knows her stuff and has great online reviews for her 101 class before tests. It may seem from other reviews that she is a hard teacher, but it's the material that is hard. You have to study a lot outside of the classroom because there just is not enough class time to get it all. Study and you'll do well.
I had her for Lab in Bio 101 I got an A but it was very hard. You really have to pay attention to what she is saying and take notes she talks about every question on the quizzs but usually for just a moment. She also talks very fast and shes not very helpful when you ask her a question.
Very good teacher, her pre-test online reviews are very helpful. Cares.
If science isn't your subject RUN! She rushes through everything, expects you to already know a lot about biology, and rushes you out of her office when you come for help. I don't find her online "review sessions" helpful what so ever. Won't give you any hints of what's on the tests. If you can dedicate yourself 100% to bio the go for it.
Dr. Domanski is an extremely helpful and caring instructor. She knows her stuff. The class is VERY hard, it is a lot of work-don't take it with a full class load--you will need hours of time to study beyond the class. She is great. When you leave her class, you know that you know. I would take her again, and no I did not get an A
she was kind of a **** to some of the class- if she likes you good, if she doesnt then you may find some of your correct answers marked wrong and it's aways 'too late' to fix it. dont need book so much, she's known to be one of the harder bio teachers. GO TO THE SI SESSIONS!
Dr. Domanski is a tough professor, expecting students to understand and know topics when she begins each section. She talks very fast, and skims through sections too quickly. Her study sessions are helpful, but unless you are good at BIO, do not expect to do too well in this class unless you study non-stop. HARD CLASS.
Tough but fair teacher. She really knows her stuff and is very clear during lectures. I made the mistake of taking this class on Saturday only, I would not recommend that at all. This class is tough and involves a lot of memorization an that isn't something a Prof can teach you.
Dr. Domanski was an incredible teacher. Very approachable and easy to get along with. I took this class as an accelerated course, so seeing her 4 days a week helped our class get to know her better, but she is a great teacher and really knows her stuff. Grades fair, doesn't stray from lecture... I would absolutely take a class with her again.
I thought she was a great teacher. Quiz every week that were pretty easy and Tests were very fair. Material moves fast but she will help you if you ask and there is a ton of extra credit. If you work and ask for help you will do fine.
The most clear, learned professor you could ask for in this quick moving and difficult class. I had no science background at all and I studied a lot and got an A. Some people complain about her talking fast, but she only talks normally. The class would be so bad if you had a teacher that talked slowly through this kind of material! Pretty too!
Loved Professor Domanski, her tests were easy and she made the matierial very easy to understand by going into depth and explaining with real medical examples. Gives out lots of extra credit. Fun and easy class.
Professor Domanski is an impossible teacher. she shows no concern for student learning, she just wants to come to class, lecture and be on with her day. I would not reccomend taking a class with her unless you're looking for a fulltime hobby
Excellent teacher! Does NOT talk fast. Very apprehensive after retaking 17 years later...thank God I got her! Always willing 2 help, has xtra credit & online chat b4 exams 2 ask ?'s. VERY disappointed couldn't take her for BIO232. Would have even taken class on Sat! THAT is how much I loved this prof. & there were many others in class who said same
She IS a fast talker, moves through material fast. Gets caught up on her own words. Is not helpful when asked to reexplain stuff. Expects you to know everything right off the bat. Tricky tests, you BETTER attend class or she will make comments and hold it against you. My friend is an hardworking A student and even she was hardpressed in this class!
Good professor. But moves through material quick. Attend all classes and STUDY!
One of the best teachers @ AACC. She knows her stuff and does everything she can to make sure you will know it too. She takes time from her evenings to do online review sessions and will promptly reply to e-mail questions. The classes she teaches would be hard no matter what teacher but she makes it enjoyable. I learned and retained a lot from her.
Love her! She knows her stuff and manages to make genetics interesting. Very enthusiastic and caring. She's funny, too. Not an easy prof,. but genetics isn't easy. Oh, and I never once thought she talked fast. I'll miss her!
A LOT of information. Dr. Domanski puts so much into the class and totally sets you up for success. As long as you take advantage of all the opportunities and put in the study time, you will succeed. The online study sessions before tests are great! Great class!!!
Prof. Domanski is the bees knees. Shes attractive. But so much more than that. Everything that she says is constructive and she won't hesitate to go the extra mile to help you understand the material she's teaching. Hands down one of the best professors in the science building. :)
Prof. Domanski is by far the best teacher I have ver had. She showed a lot of concern for her students success and really went the extra mile with my summer class to ensure the 12 of us left after week 1 got a passing grade. Everything in study guides is on exam, no tricks, easy to get along with, fair grader. I suggest her to anyone taking BIO-231
Absolutly the best teacher I ever had. On the test I never got lower then a 94%. Extra credit is offered and she does whatever she can to help her students understand the material. She does expect you to know the material IF she had taught it earlier. The easiest class I have ever taken at aacc. Love Domanski!
I got tricked into taking her from reading these comments. She will tell you- here is your work sheet figure it out with your group. WELL if the group doesnt know what they are doing- (just like mine didn't) you are stuck trying to figure it out the entire class. She sits in the corner grading papers while you are racking your brain. AVOID
Best biology teacher in the building! She is clear, lets you know ahead of time exactly what will be on the test, and is very approachable if you have a question. She wants to see her students succeed. As long as you put in the study time and come to class, it's an easy A. A lot of extra credit too!
Who are these people having "wonderful experiences" She is a nightmare!! A bunch of us dropped her and took another teacher before the deadline. Thank God!!DO Not take
I don't know why there are all these negative comments. She is an AWESOME professor and she is VERY helpful. If you have her for LAB you do have to some stuff out on your own like finding the superficial muscles, which is NOT hard at all. She does a lot of analogies which is VERY helpful. You also NEED to study!!! TAKE HER if you want an A.
Domanski is a ball of energy who truly wants her students to succeed. She provides excellent study guides does onlie chats prior to test for clarity and gives extra credit. she provides excellents powerpoints and resources online. She doesn't assign homework. However, this is a class you must study for.
This class is not for the faint of heart. You must be invested. Put in the work and you will be more knowledgabe by the end of the semester. Dr. Domanksi is excellent at explaining the topics and really knows her stuff.
Anyone that left this professor a negative comment was not ready to invest time that is needed for this course. It is not the prof that makes this course difficult, it is the course itself and the fact that you need to KNOW this information. No matter who you have it will be difficult but this prof was great. Never did I dream I could get an A!
Half of our class dropped by midterm but after speaking with other bio students, this is common b/c this course takes hours outside of class and hours in the lab studying to do well. Its not the prof, its the science department that makes it tough. She gives extra credit, enough I got an A instead of a B! Go to every class to get a good grade.
She is a wonderful professor, probably the best Ive ever had. You have to read the textbook pages and attend class, but her teaching style is VERY clear. If you do the work outside of class, you will do well. The material is intense but it is do-able.
Very hard class, she gives alot of extra credit, only real bad thing is she talks fast
She was so nice and so helpful. The material itself is hard but she does a good job explaining things and offers extra credit. She's very understanding and wants you to succeed. I wish she would teach all my courses. If you study and put in the effort you should do well.
She explains everything very clear, shes an excellent teacher. She knows her stuff and hardly loses train of thought. Very hard class but you have to study and put the extra effort in.
Dr. Domanski is probably one of the best professors I have had. The class is tough, but she offers a lot of help and she's extremely clear in teaching. She's a really nice person as well. She offers a lot of help with studying and offers quite a bit of extra credit as well. I loved being taught by her!
If you are a strong test taker, this class is not too bad. She does talk fast but at least her tests are very clear. Most of her questions are straight forward, except for one or two tricky essay questions. The lecture itself was so-so.
Unless you already know the material, might as well read the textbook instead, provides much more clarity than the packets provided in class. Only grades in the grade book are three exams and the final. Extra credit opportunities are provided but they don't do much for your grade. Definitely recommend taking with any other teacher besides this one.
Domanski tells you everything you need to know for the exams. You WILL have to study and be familiar with the concurrent lecture material. Your grade is entirely dependent on your work ethic. Of course read the text (duh)! Make time to use the tutoring center to study models and slides. Easy extra credit to supplement exam grades! Knowledgable prof
I had Prof Domanski for lab, and she was awesome. She was willing to help students on her time, helped us during lab if we didn't understand and gave us extra credit that definitely helped during the exam. She was very clear on what would be on the exams as well. There are only 4 tests but if you study and do the extra credit, you will pass.
Had her for lab, she was great helped all the time. She was great at clarifying and she devoted time to help. You need to study she tells you everything you need to know you just have to take the time to study ALOT! She give extra credit not much but it does help. Shes great if you have a choice take her for lab!
Great Professor. Goes out of her way to help students learn materials. She provides her powerpoints, give study packets, has practice quizzes, and provides tons of supplemental material. There are homework assignments that help you can rack up easy points and tons of extra credit. If you don't pass, you just aren't trying.
Main complaint: very little extra credit. USE YOUR RESOURCES, attend class and pay attention. Her tests were somewhat difficult to study for. She's maybe not the best for intro to bio, but taking her isn't a death sentence either. If you try your best, you should do well. USE YOUR RESOURCES.
I had Professor Domanski in the fall 2015 semester, and while she wasn't a mean or strict professor, her teaching style did not work well with me at all. She talked way too fast when lecturing and was very high strung. I was always lost in her class even though I tried to study as much as possible. I wouldn't recommend her.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!! She speaks very fast. She hates to be asked any questions. If YOU show up one minute late you will be marked absent., and do not you dare to ask why!! She gives a lot of homework that is not really related to the subject on hands. Good Luck.
Domanski is awesome! She's such a sweet lady & makes her lectures fun! A lot of people don't like her because she teaches REALLY fast, but honestly if you ask her questions after class & show genuine interest during lectures, she will like you. She does a great job at explaining things and is a very fair grader. BEWARE OF GROUP PROJECTS THOUGH
If you are not a science minded person, find another instructor! Domanski talks very fast, and does not give much room for questions. She also seems to have favorites, and if you're not one of them don't even raise your hand, she won't notice you. I gave up trying to ask for clarification, she never even looked my way......
She's a great professor. Even though she talks and teaches fast, I learned a great deal in her class. She really cares for her students and goes out of her way to help them. I respect her because she doesn't mess around; therefore, DO NOT BE LATE.
Her exams have lots of short answer sections, so be ready to be able to explain (in your own words) the concepts covered in that chapter. Her feedback is thoughtful and very helpful. She answers emails very quickly and is here to help you -- all you need to do is ask.
I think Dr. Domanski does a great job. She does fly through the material, and it's hard work to keep up, but it's worth it. You definitely learn a lot in this class. She does a good job of answering questions and doesn't make you feel dumb when you struggle. I definitely respect her. Gives out note sheets and Power Points are posted to canvas.
Dr. D is awesome. I had her for Genetics. She gives you all of the materials you need to succeed. Her review sheets and suggested practice problems from the book were perfect guides on what to study for exams, and her pre-exam chats were a great resource. Study, don't skip class, and don't cut corners on the labs, and an A is definitely achievable.
She talks really, really fast so be prepared to pay attention. I had her for micro lab and I really enjoyed it. She is helpful and very nice, but you have to catch her at a good moment. Make her laugh and she will love you. You have a quiz for the first 3 minutes of class, so don't be late, but you can use handwritten notes for the quiz.
I found this teacher good but hard. She fits a lot of material into each class. Lectures are interesting. Tests are the hard part. She will rework what you have learned in class to make sure you actually understand it. She's a fast talker but will answer any question you may have
She is a very good teacher, everything you need to know is in her lecture and outlined notes, make sure you go to SI , really helps... do all her extra credit, it adds up.. take the HW quizzes seriously. She is strict but very good.
In lectures she tends to talk fast, but she does give you a note packet. If you know those packets front and back you'll get an A. Everything is on those packets which is nice. She rarely gives homework and if she does its really easy. SI gave me ALOT of extra credit and it is probably the reason I got an A. Make sure you take every quiz seriously.
Professor Domanski lectures heavily on everything. Her tests are hard with fill in the blank plus multiple choices. MOREOVER, there are no extra credits opportunities beside going to the SI. IF YO DO NOT KNOW THE MATERIALS BEFORE GETTING professor Domanski, YOu Will fail. However, she really cares and makes sure students know the materials.
I took an online Biology of Aging class with her and she was really pretty easy with reviews as long as it's in your own words and a complete tough. She was really caring when my group members didn't finish their part of the project and ended up giving me a better grade on it. Overall, be prepared to spend a few hours on all assignments and exams.
Forced group projects. Also, went on tangents about unrelated topics during lecture which took away from course material necessary to pass her tests. There were extra credit opportunities.
I had Dr. D for the second part of microbio. She's a good lecturer and is genuinely interested in the information. She is very accessible and answers e-mails nearly instantaneously. I felt that her exams were fair, but when the class average was not great, she offered extra credit opportunities. She really cares about the success of her students.
Difficult to follow her lectures. The material was presented in a very haphazard, disjointed manner. Highly recommend you read the textbook before class & use her powerpoints to fill in the handouts before class. Do this and it will make sense. If not, then this will be a very difficult class to do well in.
I already have a BAS degree, so not my first BIO class. This teacher is very anal when grading. I spent many hours studying & homework and she often only gave me Cs on work. My work is NOT C work- I am a scholarship recipient. Make sure to double check grades you do get (that they match what you got). She won't say it, but exams include essays
Disjointed lecture. If you don't read the material before class you won't be able to follow her.
Great Professor- class is difficult. Must have prior knowledge and remembrance of bio 101 and chem or this class is overly difficult. A lot to remember. Uses PowerPoints so the book is not required but is helpful.
I took this course over the Fall semester. She wasn't very specific in what the outcome or expections of HW should be. She went as far as "claiming" to drop the two lowest HW grades, and diddnt. My grade stood at a 78% and she wouldnt bump it even with Extra credit. I worked my butt off all semester for a C... not happy.
This Professor teaches as if you know what shes talking about!!! FYI we take the class to be taught the material not because we already know it. She says she is available to help but she really does not help anymore when you go to her. My whole class was freaking out on how she did things.
Dr. Domanski made genetics fun and easy to understand. She was very open to questions and truly wants her students to do well. Make sure to show up on time and do your work COMPLETELY. Takes off points for incomplete work.
I would not recommend Domanski, she lectures as if you are a Micro Bio expert. Absolutely refused to answer questions in lab. Thought it was just me, but she treated other students the same way. Made exam questions unecessarily hard and confusing. During lectures just reads from powerpoint does not explain. Very organized.
When she replies to you in email, she is rude or straight out mean. I hope to never have her as a professor again. Uses pictures in quizzes that you have never seen before, then it very rude when you ask about it. I honestly am so disappointed in AACC for having this woman as a professor. I'd give her a 0/5 star if I could.
Although Dr. Domanski is a little tough and not the most graceful when replying to questions you may ask, she wants you to pass! She gives a ton of extra credit opportunities in lecture and in lab and her lectures sync up with the guided notes which is an awesome study tool. Material can be heavy if you have never taken a bio before.
I thought this professor's assignments were meant to be for someone with a biology background. The quantity of work assigned did not allow time to digest the information. Subsequently, the lessons that should have been taught by the professor or learned by the student outweighed the benefits of learning for undersranding.
She was AWFUL! Not helpful, super difficult to work with, and her exams were super difficult. She gave opportunities to earn extra credit by attending office hours and SI but all the times were during the week during the day and I work full time. There was material on the exams that weren't included in the powerpoints. NEVER AGAIN!
Not recommended.
Dr. Domanski was a great lab instructor. She was always available to help with procedures or questions, and she gave very clear instructions on what to do. I truly enjoyed learning in the lab with her. There is a ton of reading and homework involved with micro lab though, it's just how it is. I would definitely take a course with her again!
This professor is extremely boring. For lecture she just reads the power points in a monotone voice. Very hard to follow what she is talking about and impossible to pass this class if you dont already know the material or cant teach it to yourself.
To be honest, microbiology is a tough class in general. Professor Domanski did offer extra however, I feel she should offer a quizlet like every other micro professor. I would not recommend taking her class unless you are prepared to study daily and spend at least 20+ hours a week absorbing the information.
She had so many fun and interesting labs in this class. I really felt like we were doing science together, not just following a script.
I'm not a fan. She is very condescending and unprofessional. If you ask for clarification she outrightly says you need to figure it out on your own. Why am I paying for education if I have to teach myself?
Had her for genetics and microbiology lab. Incredibly condescending and has a superior complex. Rambles in class and wastes time. Explains things in unnecessarily confusing ways when asked a question. All over the place. Doesn't care about students private life. Would not take again. Too arrogant.
She gives good feedback and grades fairly.
The class is very difficult but she doesn't make it bearable. She has no respect for your time or life outside her class. Her exams are VERY difficult. I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone who isn't already an EXPERT at microbiology. She speaks as if we already know everything she's talking about, instead of actually teaching us the material.
This is probably the worst professor i've ever had in my entire life. SAVE YOU TIME AND DO NOT TAKE HER. Microbiology is already 1 of the hardest classes to take and she will not work with you if you don't know or need help instead she will yell at you and make you figure things out, along with no calculators during test.
Please, please, please read this if you are thinking about taking micro with Domanski. I'm usually an A student, but I still have to put in the work. She made this class so unnecessarily hard. She makes notepackets to follow along, and they do not have any correlation to the PowerPoints or even the lectures.
She is extremely passive aggressive and is very hard to work with. She teaches her lectures like you should know everything about the topic already. She is also no help to students who are struggling and she basically tells you too bad if you ask for help on an assignments that you are struggling with. I definitely would not recommend her!
I liked her and her teaching style. Provides powerpoints and note-taking packets to take in class, has a lot of microbiology knowledge, and doesn't just read off the slides. Responds to emails quickly and is approachable. Exam heavy, I am a terrible test taker, plus this is not an easy class, hence my C letter grade. I do reccomend her for lab too
Made lab fun, it takes her a few classes to warm up, but she is nice after a while. She is helpful and has a lot of microbiology knowledge, and is excited to teach and share her knowledge. Her exams are difficult, though she just tries your best and studies the things she puts in Canvas. Her exams are what dropped my grade unfortunately (2 exams)
