a very interesting and fun class. Attendance and effort necessary, but worth it.
She's one of my favorite professors. I really like literature, and she gives me new insights on each of the short stories/plays we have read. She was very understanding when I had to turn my paper in late, and she didn't even dock me. Great teacher.
Tammy's a hard teacher, but she's a good one. She gives plenty of time to do the assignments and allows you to try and fix them to improve your score. She never gave any tests for WR. She uses online web boards to turn in work. And you need to go to her class or you will lose points.

Argh, why do they make you rate your teacher a 'hot' or 'not'? I'm pretending like that question's not there... anyways. I'll be honest. First time I took one of her classes, I couldn't stand her. Then, through circumstances, two years later I found myself in another one of her classes. And guess what? loved her. I realized that it was my own crappy attitude that made it difficult at first. Now, I will defend the fact that she is possibly the greatest teacher I have ever had. One of three at least.
She is the best teacher ever, she is goes to bat for you, as long as you prove to her you are worth the effort. Anyone tries to tell you otherwise is lazy and stupid! She has bent over backwards and forwards for me and several other students, so just be worthy of her and you will do great!
Tammy really makes the literature come alive, I think she knows everything about literature! She's an easy teacher if you can prove to her you are working hard, come to class, and pay attention. She gave me my first "A" ever!!!!
I have learned a lot! This has not been the easiest class I have taken, BUT I truly feel like I have received an excellent education in literature! It has challenged me. I thought it would be boring, but she makes it fun.
Tammy is hard but worth the effort if you give her a chance she will give you a chance. her class is fun dont be afraid to voice an opinion she is willing to hear them all.But remember you have to work hard to make it work for you so never give up its alot easier then it seems.
My favorite teacher! She makes even boring reading seem interesting. I'm not a reader, but she is making me into one. Fun activities...fun teacher. She wants to help you learn how to write papers, instead of punishing you for doing your paper wrong.
Tammy is easy to understand, and really explains assignments well. You know that she is teaching you, not penalizing you for what you don't know. She's fantastic!
If you’ll be one of her favorite student, you’ll be good.
She is my favorite teacher! I love that she expects u to do all the hard assignments first, so that when u go to write your final paper, you have already done all of the work. She is funny, too! She made learning fun!
She's very vague, rude, and unless you smooch her behind she won't like you. Don't take her class unless you intend to kiss her feet. I wouldn't reccommend her to anyone!
Tammy's an okay instructor, she is a very tough grader and does not like younger students, which causes problems, however, she does know what she's teaching and can usually answer any question you have about that subject. I had her for other classes and she's a great instructor to take WR123 with, much nicer in that class for some reason.
She was an awesome teacher. Hard, but I learned a lot from her. She knows what she is talking about and is very helpful. Wants all her students to do well.
Jabin is a goo teacher and gives UNLIMITED extra credit! She grades fair, but tough. I loved that I revised an essay i wrote and went from a c- to an A! She can be mouthy at times, but i loved this class and learned A LOT!
I took this class online- so I don't know if she's hot ;-) Her online class was really well organized, and her online lectures were really easy to follow. Do not put off the reading until the last minute- it was hard to read a whole Shakespeare play in one sitting! She graded very fairly, and gave very helpful feedback. I really enjoyed the class.
Tammy is a fabulous teacher! She's clear, fair, and wants to help her students succeed! She's a tough grader but I learned tons from her. I'd recommend her to anyone. Come to class and participate in discussions and I guarantee you'll love her!
Hard teacher. Not nice if she doesn't like you. If you take her make sure you attend EVERY CLASS. She is not helpful or leanient if you miss something due to being absent.
Took the online Shakespeare urse with her. While I loved shakespeare prior to this, she really engaged the students to think and discuss different meanings in his tragedies, very insightful. This class had a lot of work and assignments however. Lots of writing and even more reading. I got an A, but studied more for this than my Statistics class!
Tammy is wonderful! She knows her stuff, and she engages her class in interesting discussions! She makes you really think about the reading. I found her to be an easy grader, and she lets you revise essays. I loved her class! She is opinionated and not afraid to share her point of view, but she doesn't discriminate against the thoughts of others.
Waste of time . Gives good grades to people she likes. Miss one day and you get on her bad side. Dont plan to take her class again!
Tammy is awesome! very helpdul and willing to go above and beyond to help her students! She is a fair grader and I am taking her for WR 123 too.
Tammy is a fine teacher. She's pleasant and cheerful (unless she thinks you're stupid :P). Her grading is only harsh if you miss classes (the sylabus specified a lower grade for missed classes, so there's fair warning). My only caveat would be that she seems bored with teaching intro material (but she makes up for it with humor and fairness).
I took creative writing with her. Tammy is very warm and fun and makes you feel at home in her class. She expects a lot of work, but comes up with fun assignments. Her class was very entertaining and I was actually sad when it ended.
We watched so many videos that I came to the point where I just wanted to say "I can't believe we are actually paying for this class!" She has a sarcastic type of humor and treats you very disrespectfully. Talks to you like you are mentally challenged. I pity her because no one in our class liked her, they just kissed her behind for the grade.
Very little feedback or guidance. Some of the exercises were really stupid. It could've been a great class, but she didn't put out the effort to communicate with students
I took a ton of classes with Tammy and I think she is an amazing teacher. I just looked at her rating on here to see what she had said about her so I could compare with other teachers and I thought id should just mention that she is a great instructor. Very clear and organized and wants her students to succeed
I'm taking 121 online and it is definitely harder than a classroom class. There is so much posting and its all graded. I think she expects more out of us than we are capable of at this level.
I absolutely loved this class and the teacher! I have learned so much about writing! Just a warning, this class is NOT for procrastinators! It took me at least half the week to get all the work done. She does respond quickly though. What's due and when can be confusing, but just ask and go by BOTH the syllabus and the weekly note.
Seriously, she's a fantastic teacher. She's a bit of a hard-ass at somethings, but boo hoo, it's college. She pushes you, and I guess some people just don't like that. She has a fantastic sense of humor as well!
She was understanding when I told her how busy I am (I have two children, two jobs, and go to school full-time), but she hasn't changed my grade on two of the discussions. Hopefully that will be fixed. I'm taking the online class, and I don't feel like I'm learning enough. You read the play then write about it. You don't learn any history.
If you want a challenge take her course.. You must be able to have time because she is hard and expects alot of work
Bs'd my way through it. Just read the spark notes, talk a lot, give hugs, and promise to take other classes. Even got to rewrite my midterm. Easy A.
I felt that this teacher didn't teach. She threw up some assignments and then graded them. There weren't even comments about the scores that you recieve. Grammar and spelling in assignments had errors which didn't seem professional in this type of class.
I love writing and have had great writing teachers who inspired and improved my writing skills. Most of the class work felt like "busy work." I felt like the time spent reviewing classmates writing vs homework excercises was off balance. This was very frustrating and the "C" I got reflects that (since I've always recieved A's in writing courses)
Be cautious when taking this class! It is not difficult, but it requires an enormous amount of time and work. I got an A because I spent countless hours studying. I read five novels ranging between 220-300+ pages in addition to a collection of short stories. Be prepared to post LONG discussions and respond to peers after each reading.
Not a bad teacher when she is engaged. Unfortunately, she often came unprepared, and when she did, she would either play a little kid's movie from the internet (made for 4 year old EFL students) or she would read. She once read to the class for an hour straight. That was the most torturous hour I've ever had in a classroom. Not recommended.
Good at teaching. Tough grader, but would let us revise and resubmit, with her error corrections layed out.
At her best, she is not bad. At her worst, she is the worst. She gets aggro if you are late, despite the fact that she was occasionally late. She treats her students as if she were paying them to be there, and not the other way around. Lots of reading. Lots.
Due date were unclear, read five novels plus many short stories. twice a week assignments.
Not a hard class at all. HOWEVER. Be ready to read A LOT, and to write A WHOLE LOT. The books were interesting, but there were just too many, so I felt very rushed. And I didn't get feedback on anything except for the midterm. In fact, she wasn't really involved in the class at all. Overall, an ok class.
Pros: The assignments teach you how to write better stories and read critically. Also, she's nice and willing to work w students. Super cheap books. Amount of homework is tough, but makes sure you learn the material. Cons: Lots of homework, and some due datespost spots unclear, but that may change, and response time to questions is very quick.
This class is confusing, if you have been to school in a long while. She speak better to the younger students. She is not very helpful, so go to the writing center, if you want to pass this class.
Ms. Jabin taught Mythology and Folklore very well. Her due dates were really jumbled as she would expect similar assignments on different days of the week throughout the term. Perhaps this was caused because of the accelerated summer term. There is a lot of material to read so don't procrastinate! Read the course project instructions carefully!
I took Tammy's intro to fiction writing class, and enjoyed it tremendously. Tammy was great to work with, and structured group conversations very well. She does assign a lot of reading, and a lot of writing exercises. I'll agree with others that due dates were unclear, but she took responsibility for it, and was flexible with late work as a result.
DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE WRITING CLASS. Her comments are never helpful and when you ask for help she'll shrug it off and say "i don't have time". Her comments on essays are rude so if you take her class be prepared to cry.
Told me projects were days late when they weren't due yet according to the calendar, very little feedback given on anything (and if you wanted feedback on first drafts, you had to ask, not that the syllabus told you that), no interaction with her message boards or attempts to facilitate discussions. Gigantic workload for a summer class.
She's too lazy to edit so we ended up with a syllabus that doesn't entirely match our class. Due dates and grading criteria are never clear. Does not seem to care about the students that much.
107-109 great class. Get ready to read complaints? Duh, it's World Lit. Participate in lectures for more understanding. As long as you read and ask questions, it's not hard. She's flexible and helpful. Love her classes and plan to take more for writing and lit.
I took the class online. I didn't realize how much reading and homework assignments there were to do in such a short amount of time for between deadlines. Also, it was a little frustrating because the teacher doesn't grade right away, so I never knew how I was doing in class. Some of the assignments contradicted itself. Other than that, it's ok.
If you are reading this, it is either too late for you or you have time to make a change. Please make a change as you will not regret it. Very confusing online course (I've taken many), due dates of assignments did not match in the course, little explanation of assignments, no grading rubics - how did you get that score? What week are we on?
Tammy is very passionate about the books she reads! She always encourages group discussions and never puts down anyone's opinions or ideas. She is very respectful. The books we read in class were interesting, modern, and a lil bit life-changing. Reading them as a group was really fun. Sometimes she moves due dates around so feel free to doublecheck
Tammy's creative writing class has really helped me grow and learn as a writer! It was a low maintenance class. My only complaint was the other students in the class. Participation matters A LOT.
Some people shouldn't teach. She just made us watch videos or she would read to us. Waste of money.
Honestly, I have never rated a professor before but I am so appalled by this class that I did.I have taken many, many online classes and none were this confusing. Due dates didn't match the syllabus, nor did assignment requirements or point scale. Basically, their is no instruction, or communication on expectations or really anything else.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The worst college writing class ive taken. Due dates dont add up, feed back is weak and confusing. Ive never failed an essay until this class, if it isnt exactly how she wants it its a failed grade. She made 12 notes on my essay, 6 where positive, yet I got a 50%. Shes nice but not a good teacher. Maybe better in class.
She does her job well. You will learn a lot more about writing and her classes are entertaining for the most part. She's not a tough grader, she gives you feedback on your essay and then you get a week to revise it, so that was awesome. Don't be afraid to take her class, be prepared for a lot of really small assignments
I didn't enjoy the class at all. The due dates don't match up. She has so many grammatical errors in her course as well, which is odd and seems lazy for a college professor. It's unclear when due dates are and she's so vague when she answers your questions over email. She watches us struggle in the group discussions and doesn't step in either.
This was the most dissatisfying experience I've had from a teacher. I took her class online & she did not "teach" anything. It was all reading & group discussion. Absolutely no participation from her. Her feedback on assignments is sparse & she deducts points heavily. She doesn't explain why points were lost so you don't know how to fix errors!!
Poor communication. Syllabus and instructions are FULL of errors, dates, and directions do not match the assignments. It's so messy, you have to constantly ask for clarification which she only replies to half the questions. If you work hard and do the assigned reading, you can get a good grade but she doesn't actually do a lot of teaching.
Does not list directions students even did not notice a rough draft due date. Does not give tips for improvement in writing for final essays.
Do NOT take a class with this professor. She has horrible grammar, bad communication, doesn't put any due dates, and won't tell you what's wrong with your assignments. I honestly don't know how she is a professor. This woman is such a bad teacher that I transferred to a university for better education after taking her class. Thanks Tammy.
I took her mythology and folklore class and it was amazing! A lot of reading, but if you do them, you will be fine. Responsive to emails and clear instructions on assignments. Would definitely take again.
Honestly I am taking this course cause I need twelve credits for my scholarship and honestly I joined the class late and I have disabilities like AHAD and she is not being flexibility saying well I still expect you to do everything like everyone else and honestly does not talk at all and is kinda mean and so I just hanged up are phone call.
If you're looking to improve your writing skills, don't take this class. She doesn't offer you feedback on anything other than the occasional "good job" from the busywork exercises in the textbook. She doesn't answer questions in a timely manner, her due dates aren't very clear, and her instructions for things were vague which caused confusion.
Decent person, awful teacher. Due dates were frequently unclear and never listed in the syllabus, some of the assignments were in the wrong modules, sometimes she didn't let us know about an assignment until the week of (no due date, not listed in module). Was dismissive of questions. The only positive is that her zoom classes were usually short.
Tammy piles way too much work on top of the three very large, grade-determining essays, her instructions are rarely clear and often lead on a wild goose chase to try to figure them out, and her module organization (or lack thereof) and lack of consistent deadlines made me almost miss assignments more often than not.
Professor Jabin was an Awful professor. She would criticize every single sentence on every essay. She wouldn't give you feedback but instead be rude and mean. There are 3 main essays that are grade determining essays, and if you don't do them perfectly you will fail the class.
I have tried joining her class during fall term for English 104 to fill up for 12 credits but I had joined the class late due to fixing my courses and I asked her if I can get a pass for week one since it was a lot of work for the beginning she said I expect out to do the work like everyone else and I called her she was not nice and hanged up.
She was very nice. Had a good time with the class, until she gave me a horrible grade and refused to change it or hear me out. I felt like I wasn't heard, and this upset me a lot as I felt like we were both passionate about reading and writing and got along. Overall; very nice, but kind of a harsh grader for the course level that she teaches.
For me, it felt like no matter how many essays I turned in, and how many peer responses were good, and I felt confident about my work she still seem to grade extremely hard and gave a little to no help. Even if you met all the criteria, you could end up getting a 50% on an essay solely based on a few mistakes.
Had her my first year, and her class still affects me. Her class was overly difficult. It was lots of reading, and even though I was there every day and did the best I could- I still failed the class, to this day I don't know why. I love writing fictional stories in my free time, but her class didn't teach me anything, yet I didn't pass somehow.
Tammy is a very tough grader and it seemed like when you asked her for help she was irritated to do her job. The comments she leaves on your essays don't make sense and when you ask for help it would take her forever to respond back.
regarding directions & big assignments, never clear. if you ask about it, she gets smart with you & assumes you didn't listen and/or read directions. never gives any guidance in how to make an essay better - "rephrase" "awkward sentence" . never gives enough time for big essays. the term started out okay, but i do not recommend this professor
The only form of lecture for this online courses was from heavy textbook reading. Few extra credit chances. She's a TOUGH GRADER. Be sure to really read the assignments directions. She's quick to respond to emails. Requires active participation in the class, this is not a skim by doing bare minimum & get an A type class. Didn't actually LEARN much.
I had Tammy Jabin for ENG 245 Spring 22. I liked the texts we read, her lectures were so-so.
Ultra white conservative lectures used.
She does grade heavy based on in class participation. Not so much speaking, but being present in workshops and small group story sharing. She gives good feedback on writing, but the feedback is a lot of writer's choice corrections. She does share her views a bit, but seems to double back. Open about her creative writers being her favorite.
She told me my paper was 100% AI-generated when I did not use AI in any way to write it. And she filed an academic honesty report against me. I guess I should feel complimented that she thought my writing was "too good." But she is a joke. Her class is boring and I would not retake it. She gave unclear instructions. And was overall annoying.
Ultra white conservative lectures used. VERY homework heavy. I have met with several tutors throughout this term who are completely shocked at my workload for this 3 credit class. Doesn't give the best feedback on essays.
Horrible grader, and horrible feedback. If you have words or phrases she doesn't like, prepare to for a non-passing score on your essay, even if it fits /all/ the criteria she assigned the class for, which is ironic considering she always has typos and structure problems. Strongly advise against.
I did not like this professor because the the required book that we based our essays on was highly inappropriate and vulgar. I took this class as a minor, and was required to read a highly explicit book about two minors, 12-year-old boys participating in sexual acts. This book should have been banned, let alone required of us to read.
