Harder than I expected; more biology than I expected crammed into a PACE class; she is not selective about what to cover - we are doing EVERY SINGLE THING in book. 1st test covered 4 chapters (1/3 of book) in one week! She's nice, though.

First test pretty tough & very heavy on brain biology; remaining three tests very easy if you bothered to read and study a bit. She is a very nice teacher. Does not require cumulative final if you are happy with your grade.

Tammy is totally nice. ALWAYS SMILING! Which helps because I don't like Psychology. Neways her tests are very hard and stress Vocab! MAKE SURE YOU STUDY THE VOCAB! Each test is over many chps, which makes it really hard. However she is funny and teaches very clearly!

SHE IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE NICEST TEACHERS I'VE EVER HAD. SHE COVERS A LOT OF MATERIAL AND SOMETIMES GOES A LITTLE FAST, BUT SHE WILL STOP AND HELP YOU IF YOU NEED IT. IF SHE TEACHES ANOTHER CLASS THAT I NEED, I'LL DEFINITELY TAKE IT.

She is so sweet and will help you if you ask. It was a fun and interesting class. Just make sure to go to class and study for tests and quizzes. They can be hard, but with enough study time, you should be alright. Very good teacher!!

I took her class in the summer which was actually very fast paced. We went over 15 chapters in 4 weeks. Just read the chapters and take notes in class and you will be fine.

She is a very nice teacher!! But if you do not keep up on the reading you will be screwed. She is always willing to help at any time. Make sure you do all the reading and study the vocab and you should be fine.

She's very clear on what she wants and tells you what is on the tests/quizzes. The first test was really hard though! Too much memorizing. But she always drops a test so its ok. Plus, she's a really hot teacher!

this was my fav. class, she was so sweet and her class is fun/interesting. make sure to read for the tests, esp vocab and experiments. your only h/w is to read/study and there is one project at the end of the year. i recommend her to everyone!

She is extremely nice and has a great sense of humor!! This class has potential for being easy if students keep up on the reading. The *KEY* is to understand all of the vocab because her tests center around the definition of these terms, and if you understand the vocab you can understand the context of its usage in a sentence!!

If you don't take this class with Tammy, you're seriously missing out. She is so great, with a great personality, sense of humor, and is always smiling. I loved her so much, my only wish was that I took it over a regular semester than Winter cause she was so great. LOVE IT!

I took her for a friday class and it was awsome. She is such a great, caring teacher. The only drawback of taking her class on Fridays (only) is that you have a test or a quiz every class session. Just make sure to read the book because her tests/quizes are straight out of it.

Students love Mahan. She is friendly and fair in her online class; however, the interesting aspects of psych 172 are buried under piles of theories and 500 vocab words--such is the nature of psych, I guess. The textbook tries to be good, but falls flat in places, but it's a vital part of this class. The four tests are very challenging & that's why extra credit is offered. Great class for psych majors and nurses. For regular Joes though,the course is harder than you think. Like all good college classes, you have to research, compose original responses, read the text and study to get a good grade.

It's really hard to not get an A or B in this class. Her quizzes come straight from the text vocabulary, and she goes over quiz material right before the quizzes. She always has extra credit questions on the tests.

i loved her, she is the sweetest prof! and smart. gives you study guides, shows you ways to study online, adds 15 points extra credit for no reason on tests. 4 exams, about 10 case studies (very simlpe, gives full cred for doing it) and 4 simple online quizzes that end up on exam later. i read chapters (sometimes skimmed) and got A.

I had to earn my A, it was not easy, but if you show up, study, and listen carefully to her lectures you will do great. Professor Mahan is an excellent teacher, you can tell that she loves what she does and cares about her students. No HW, quiz'/PowerPoints usually online and plenty of X credit(TV Tapings). Mahan is great! I took her over winter so the course was quite a bit of work. She was very responsive in that, when a big portion of the homework was taking forever, she made it optional. She also gave whoever needed it extra time to close out the semester. She was very understanding. The book was really expensive for this class, just FYI.

I took the Psych172 online course with her. She is very straight forward with what she expects for assignments. The class is relatively east if you take the time to actually do the assignments. The only problem I had with this teacher is that she wasn't a great communicator. Rarely ever sent us updates, and was slow to respond to emails.

Really nice, easy to understand, the textbook is a requirement for 172 because the test are primarily based on the chapters. It's hard to contact her through e-mail, but other then that she's a good teacher and fairly easy.

Took the Summer 2013 session of Abnormal Psychology (PSYCH 240). I generally felt that class time was used inefficiently as we spent very little time on lecture. We ended up having to learn the majority of the content independently by reading the textbook. Grade is based on four 100-point exams. They are easy, and she curves all of them insanely.

Took this class online during Winter. There was a good handful of book work that was credited as homework; although it was time consuming, it turned out to be fairly easy. I took the online class so I can't give much feedback on the professor but I can say she was super nice and answered my emails and questions ASAP. For the class, get ready to read-- it's not difficult, it's just a LOT of work. You literally read the entire textbook in a month-- three chapters each week, or 60 subsections each week.

I took professor Mahan a few years back for psych 101, and I can tell you she is the BEST professor I've had at COC. She is very specific on what she expects from her students and her study guides are also EXACTY like the exams so do those along with the homework on mypsychlab and the exam will be a piece of cake. I got As everytime!

I took her psych 172 class in the summer and it was the best summer class I've ever taken! Her tests come straight from book and study guides. She assigns homework quizes before tests to prep you up, and they REALLY Help! She also gives a pretty small project for easy points. Learned so much from this class! Would most definitely take her again!

I took this class in winter, which was a lot of work! We had 2 discussions, 5 tests, 2 pre/post quizzes after each section read for each chapter (6 quizzes per chapter, 3 chapters a week). Remember this is a WINTER session, hence the heavy work load. There was also a virtual child I had to raise and an extra credit virtual adult. SUPER NICE teacher

By far the easiest Psych class in COC. As long as you attend lectures or read the sections in the book, you'll do fine. The homework really helps you learn and it's not too hard. Most other teachers will require essays or other big projects but Tammy just gives tests and online homework. She gives great lectures and really cares about her students!

My favorite teacher. Took 2 classes with her: Psych 101 and developmental psychology. I took developmental solely because she was the teacher. Got an A in both classes because I enjoyed attending lectures. Hilarious; will undoubtedly make you laugh every class.

The class is very easy to understand, but my only problem is the homework program that she uses. it is called Norton inquisitive. You need to gamble for your grade and I do not think its fair! my grade is not doing well because of that program!

Seriously the Love of my Life, Tammy was a awesome caring teacher and she is great with explaining difficult concepts in her lecture. She is amazing and very intelligent I would recommend her to all of my friends.

Professor Mahan made Development Psychology seem so easy. Not only that, but the way she structured her course materials made it all very informative. I learned so much in her class from the development of human beings to the school architectures Japan is making for children in order to coincide with their learning abilities. She's Awesome!!

I took her for fall last semester and I loved her!! She is so kind and caring for her students and is a wonderful teacher. Her lectures are very interesting and the class is amazing! Lots of Inquizitives, and have to study for the tests. Highly recommend her. Wish I could take her again!

I'd be surprised by any negative comments, if you really don't enjoy psychology, this isn't the class for you. Negative comment below complained to me about this class frequently, the teacher did not go on and on with powerpoints, she was interesting, and very engaging with the class. Highly recommend.

Don't take her course in the winter session, it is WAY TOO FAST. It's best to take it in the full semester like Spring or Fall! Overall, she is an amazing professor, just DON'T TAKE in Summer or in Winter session! THERE is SO MUCH WORK IN SUCH A SHORT TIME! ! ! if you don't have good time management you will not pass

I think shes a great professor. The tests and stuff were easy. I took it online and the only thing I found difficult were the inquisitive assignments since they take about an hour each. Other than that it was a very easy class. Would recommend the online one. I took a 5 week course.

She is very caring for her students. For my class, she took attendance the first couple of weeks, then she stopped and people stopped showing up. She knows a lot of people just skip her class but she doesn't drop them or give them dirty looks when they show up on exams. Do the homework and study for the exams and you'll be fine.

I absolutely love Professor Mahan. She is by far the best psych professor Ive had, I definitely hope to have again.

LOVED her! The class itself is pretty bland because it's pretty necessary in my opinion but she made it so wonderful. She's so caring and is a true sweetheart. You can tell she's super passionate about psychology. She's a literal teddy bear. She showed some documentaries that truly changed me. Highly recommend for not only FYE but psychology too!

Professor Mahan really gave inspirational lectures and I learned a lot from her class. As long as you keep up with the work and make sure its done before the due date, you should be fine. Although, we took many quizzes in the class, it was a lot of work at times.

This class is pretty easy as the tests are straight from the homework, but her lectures end up being, unfortunately, unnecessary. Her lectures are informative and funny most of the time, but you really just need the homework. She's very sweet and sympathetic too if you need to leave class early or something of that matter.

Tammy mahan is a great professor who gives alot of homework but helps you to prepare for the exam most of the homework questions will be on the exam so homework is mandatory. Class lectures are based on the textbook but I find it helps those with different learning styles. .

This professor is amazing!!! She is so considerate and she emails you back right away!!! I would 100% take her again in a heartbeat. One of the best professors I have come across in my 3 years at COC.

Super nice, sweet, and easy going! She makes her class and lectures very enjoyable. The homework does require you to read (a lot) but as long as you read you should do just fine on the exams. I never took notes while reading or studied and still passed all my exams with As. One of the best professors at COC. Would definitely take her again!

Took Developmental Psych with Mahan online. The way her class was set up was super appealing to me. She utilizes Pearson's online lab and it helped me retain information for her proctored exams more easily. It may seem like quite a bit of work at first, but it is completely manageable.

If you are given the chance take any of her classes. Great teacher.

Professor Mahan was one of my favorite professors that I had for my winter semester. The class does have a lot of Pearson Revel assignments but they are not difficult, if you put in the work and actually read you will do fine.

TOTALLY RECOMMEND! The way that this class is set up sets her students for success. Pearson Reveal made the material very easy to understand.

At first, the class was difficult after a whole semester I took her again and passed. If you ask questions youre guaranteed an answer. I would love to take another class again

Amazing, caring professor. I took her class as a hybrid class... A LOT of reading. 100 question exams were tough but easy to do if you focus on the material.

Such a great class! I took her this spring as a short term class and learned so much! Although there was a good amount of work (which is expected for a short term class) it was definitely manageable. Be prepared to do a good amount of reading. If you read you'll pass the tests. Simple!

Professor Mahan was so incredibly sweet and had such a fun class. I took Psych 101 over the winter semester and passed with an A, even though I was in part time high school as well! There's a lot of reading, but it's overall a really fun and interesting class.

Easy A. Lots of reading and teaching yourself. She's an incredibly nice and understanding professor, but I wouldn't take her if I were majoring in Psychology. However, if you need her class for a different major, this is a great GPA booster.

Professor Mahan is super nice and cares about her students. This class is an easy A if you commit to the reading and do well on the tests. I've learned a lot in this class and Pearson made it easier to condense new information. Definitely recommend 100% to take her class!

She is SO SWEET! She really cares about her students and she is always there to help if someone is struggling. Her study guides are really clear and the pre and post chapter tests help a lot with the exams. She offers extra credit that makes a big difference in your grade. Take her!

Honestly, an easy class if you do the reading. The only problem I had was how heavy the test was, you have 4 exams each exam is 100 questions. Overall she is a great professor and answers any question you may have.

5 week Winter Professor Mahan responded promptly to emails and was extremely helpful. Tests were difficult, but if you do the reading and assignments you have everything you need to do well. The information was clear and accessible, completing all the assignments was helpful in applying the reading. She is truly a kind and caring professor.

I have only taken Doctor Mahan's fully online classes. She did not have any of her lectures in the class, but she provided outside material such as TEDtalks to tie in with the chapters and helps the students to better understand the chapters. I would recommend her classes.

I took the online summer course. There's a lot of reading, but it ties in nicely with the TED Talk videos she provides and makes knowing the coursework easier. There are weekly writing assignments, but they are fun. The exams are long but just review the class notes. As long as you do the assignments, read, and have fun, then you will do great.

Take this professor!! She cares about her students and is always making sure the class is fun. Best professor I have had!!

This is a "Do it yourself class." 90% of assignments are graded by the computer (Pearson virtual child and chapter quizzes and assignments). Progress and completion reports are a breeze. Dr. Mahan is very communicative and caring. There is tons of flexibility (you have a few good weeks before each set of assignments are due). 4 tests are tricky.

Professor Mahan was probably the best professor I've had at this school! She's very caring and lectures very good. If you pay attention, take notes, and study off of them you'll ace her exams. Would definitely take her again.

I've never had a prof be so caring and generous, she's def one of those teachers who care more about their students mental health over a due date. obv, the work needs to be done, but if you do it all and pay att. in class, you'll have a smooth semester. she makes sures were all prepared for exams

Prof. Mahan was the nicest but most difficult teacher I have ever had. She honestly assigns way to much work. If you are taking more than three classes, the workload would be completely unmanageable. Her tests/exams are extremely difficult, but as long as you take notes, and I mean TONS of notes, you will be ok. Office hours were really helpful.

She is the most incredible professor I have ever had! Everyone has to experience her classes at least once during their time at COC. The class is not hard, and as long as you study for the tests you will be absolutely fine, she covers everything that will be on the tests in class!

Heavily relies on Pearson Revel (online textbook) for majority of assignments/reading. No lectures, but the assignments can be time-consuming and sort of busy work. Exam for every 3 chapters, are 100 questions long, 90-min limit and a short weekly discussion of a TEDTalk. Helpful outside of class but there's not much outside of Pearson Revel.

Overall I enjoyed this class. If you are taking this as an online class, prepare for a lot of reading and a lot of homework. Usually the homework on Pearson has 20-30 sections so make sure to pace yourself. The professor is very nice as well. The assignments are also fun, such as the virtual life assignments. Also, this class is fast paced.

her test are 100 questions BUT her study guides are 100 voca words which you have to know the ideas or definition for. So the fact that you know what on the test and what not makes it way easier and it all multiple choice. I didn't score below an 85 on any of them and I always did them the night before the test and I went to all the lectures.

Dr. Tammy is an amazing professor! She is very kind and looks out for her students. Her exams are extremely easy, given that she gives a very specific study guide. You will have to pay for the textbook, though, which was around $80, and do most of the quizzes using the online textbook. She is lenient with deadlines and submissions.

Hands down one of the best classes I've taken at COC. Professor Mahan understands students and what they may be facing during semesters, therefore her class is incredibly student friendly. Manageable workloads, great lectures, and immense kindness for her students makes her the ultimate instructor. 10/10, 100/100, the GOAT of teaching psychology.

I took the class over the summer and it was super easy and enjoyable! the child simulations especially are pretty fun and her exams aren't too difficult either. 1 discussion board + (maybe a completion report) + textbook reading (super easy and short) + 1 exam a week. definitely take her if u can!!!

Professor Mahan is an exceptional teacher. Her class may have a heavy workload, but it's manageable with dedication. The exams are challenging, but study tools like unstuckstudy can be a big help.

The class was one of the best I have taken. She is very passionate about what she does and as long as you show up and take notes it is an easy class. Tests were always multiple choice, and homework was just reading and some questions. I loved this class!!

Professor Mahan is a great professor and gives you everything necessary to pass and learn psychology. The exams can be difficult as they are 100 questions long, but study the textbook and use other studying tools to ensure a good grade. I averaged an 85/100 on all exams and she offers 15 points extra credit on the first exam GREAT PROFESSOR!

Professor Mahan is a good professor. She cares about her students. Unfortunately, she does take time to respond to emails. She is very accommodating, however, there is a lot of work assigned with this class, but you learn a lot. My suggestion: print out all vocabulary and also LOOK AT CHAPTERS. The chapters are the rest of the exam.

16 week psych172: We used Pearson revel for textbook and assignments. There are 4 exams total, I don't understand why people say they are difficult she gave a detailed study guide with every single question that was the on the exam. Exams are 60% of your grade and 100 mcqs. I made flash cards for every exams and averaged a 100%. She is the best!!!

Professor Mahan's class was straightforward and the Pearson website offered many helpful resources. I specifically liked learning through their quizzes and simulations. As with most Psych classes, there's a lot of reading. Finally, some of the exam questions were unnecessarily difficult, like recalling random percentages.

13 chapters to read and 58-71questions to answer per chapter. Test#1 Ch1-3 Test #2 Ch4-6 Test #3 Ch 7-9 Test #4 10-13. 100 question test to be completed in 80-90 minutes. 5 week accelerated course. Does not allow you to use notes or open book. Uses HonorLock 4 Discussion boards and Virtual Baby to raise (a lot of interactive questions)

This class has A LOT of tedious work, so go into this class knowing the assignments take a LONG time. An A is very achievable for this class, but you need to turn things in ON TIME. You have a two-week free trial with Revel Pearson and you CAN finish all the work in those two weeks if you LOCK IN, if not you'll have to pay $95 for the book. GL

Ms. Tammy is a very sweet Professor! Her curriculum is very time consuming because of the amount of homework involved in this class. There are at least 2-3 assignments a week on Pearson (which is your textbook that cost $95 and completely mandatory). There was a total of 4 exams and relatively easy as she always provides a clear study guide.

Easy class if you read the textbook and attend lectures. Professor is a little disorganized but she makes up for it. The lectures are good and engaging, sometimes off topic, you need to read the textbook to do well on the tests. Professor is understanding and you can tell she actually cares.
