Professor Wooten is very thorough. You must read and stay ahead of her on the readings. However, if you didn't understand what the book said her lecture will clear it up very well. Labs are great!!
Prof. wooten is a very brilliant teacher. She makes sure you understand the material before she moves on in chapters. Her labs are real fun. There is extra credit questions in every exam. Her final exam is based on all the tests during the semester. So, if you want an A take her class.
BEST you can get for Chemistry!!!!!
Excellent teacher. As long as you PAY ATTENTION IN LECTURE and read the book you are fine. She is great at explaning things so that you can understand them clearly. She is patient and precise about what you need to do.THere are still good teachers out there that make you wanna actually retain something.... smile
SOME OF HER WORK IS CHALLENGING BUT SHW IS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP YOU TO BETTER UNDERSTAND IT. YOU MUST BE CONSISTANT WITH REVIEWING YOUR NOTES. SHE IS VERY COOL AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND
SHE'S A GREAT TEACHER. SHE EXPLAINS THE INFORMATION VERY WELL AND MAKES IT INTERESTING. YOU MUST BE CONSISTANT WITH REVIEWING YOUR NOTES ON A REGULAR BASIS IN ORDER TO KEEP UP. IN ADDITION SHE IS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP IF YOU ARE HAVING DIFFICULTY WITH THE MATERIAL.
If you have to take CHEM, than take her class. If you apply yourself it will show. He work comes straight from her notes, a plus. She never strays from what she is teaching. She is also a professor that is willing to help you if you need it. A very nice person, but does not take any slak. She is a very good teacher and she knows her stuff.
Great teacher to make this comment sweet and short this teacher is smart she's specific on what she wannts you to do helpful and as long as you read the material prior to class youll be very well prepared to pass and try not to miss any class time its important
Love this teacher. I got a "A" out of the class. She makes chemistry easy.
This is a real professor. Very understandable and has much interest in her students and subject matter. EVERYONE will get clear understanding before she move on to next topic. BEST CCP has ever hired. THANKS professor I LOVE YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO!!!!!!!!!!
Dr. Tammy is the best chemistry at CCP. My advise for anyone struggling in chemistry take her because the way she teaches allows anyone to understand chemistry
best teacher ever. Very helpful and if you do your work and study, there is no reason why you can't pass
she is about her business. she never smiles...she gives you a bunch of work..this class is extremely hard to be an introductory course...she doesnt like when u ask her alot of questions
She knows her stuff, but if you don't know your stuff then you will be a$$ out cause she aint saying nothin twice.
hard extremely hard
Good teacher, come to class and take good notes. teacher Willing to help you out after lab.
her teaching skills is greate you will understand the work but you have to read alot. Her grading is tuff to the t no curves. It is all on your exam grades. Lab report for each lab so if you don't like to write don't take this class. don't be late she will embarace you. Final grade must score over 80 to keep whatever grade you may think you ar
this class is very good for those who dont understand chem at all. dr. wooten stick to the syllabus. she gives you time to study and read the material before class. so when you come to class if you didnt have a grasp of the reading she will make it clear for you. overall think that you will enjoy the class.
I took her Chem 110 class and got an A. She is very good but, demanding...so if you don't like to work hard don't take her class. She make Chemistry easy for anyone..P.S You do not have to get over an 80 to keep you current grade on the final!! Your score will be determined by your lab grade and your previous tests. ( all I needed was a 65 to keep
Hella Hard, The worse semester of my life. She will make you rethink your career chioce. But if i got through it anybody can.
awesome teacher. she takes time to make sure you understand the material although you will definitely have to study on your own. i passed with an A in chem 121 and 122 plus i took both of the classes in the summer. if you want to learn and have fun doing it...TAKE HER!!
Mrs. Wooten is the BEST professor at CCP when it comes to chemistry. You will be pushed and you will learn, she is crystal clear and shows you step by step how to do a problem. She made me comfortable with chemistry, I was intimidated by the subject until I sat in her class. If you study and read the the chapters then you will pass her class.
don't believe everything you hear about Prof Wooten. She is a very good teacher and knows her stuff. She is very clear and teaches you what you need to know. Her test are simple and only cover what she tells you to study. I had an A in her class the entire semester. Her labs are extremely easy and lab reports are due for every lab.
Had DR. WOOTEN-Boyd for Chem 110 Strict, But if u do as she says EVERYTHING comes with ease. The assigned problems reinforce lecture. Lab clarifies Lecture hands on. I got 100 on her FINAL. Need an A dedicate yourself to her class, HER way!!
I thought chemistry was going to be my hardest subject - but I understood all the material after she taught it. It was clear what was going to be on the test and she explained everything very well. Gives take home and word bank on test. EXCELLENT teacher. Highly recommend her for Chem 110!!!! The semester was a breeze and interesting
I'm talking a walking textbook. Dr. Wooten is the best Chem. professor I have ever encountered. She gives you a few take home test, and a word bank for definitions on your in-class exam. Informs you of what's on the test. No trick questions, and gives you a chance to gain up to 5 xtra points on your final grade(group prodject).TAKE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She may be the best teacher CCP has. I took her in the summer and although it was intense, she pulls no tricks and tells you EXACTLY what is on her tests. She gives the opportunity for extra credit and explains things in ways that are easy to understand. I would take her for every class if I could!
She made chem very accessible and she is a very fair, skilled teacher. WAY better than any other CCP prof I've had. Homework assignments are key. She's great at answering questions. I studied hard and got a well-deserved A. I also remember what I learned. She's not exactly easy but if you do the work, you'll get an A.
I had her over the summer. Shes nice BUT I wouldn't take her again because shes not clear with instructions on how to do the problems. Her grading is harsh. Even one of the tutors from the school told me that shes a better Chem 110 teacher than for 121. Lab was a breeze though.
I've just taken Tammy wooten-boyd, chem 110 class for Fall 2010. I never spent so much time in tutoring in my life. the class over all was good, I've learned alot but it wasn't do to the teacher I don't think she teaches she tells u what she want u to read, and then mayb go over some questions, other then that u will be on ur own, the Lab will be t
Everything u hear about her is true..She is an EXCELLENT teacher. Because of her I would like to teach chemistry.Study before u come to class.Reread the material..put the time in and u will get the grade for ur time.
The subject was very interesting and the teacher was great!
All I can say is she was an EXCELLENT teacher.
Outstanding professor, just follow her instructions to the letter and you'll have no problem, gives extra credit, and what she tells you something is on am exam it's on it. I would recomend everyone take her class that has to take Chem.
a must teacher if you go to class and study form her notes and book, no one who takes her should have a problem , she is very understanding, but do expect you to do work. if i have a chance i will take her again no questions asked.
She is a wonderful, caring, and helpful instructor. I guarantee you will pass if you come to class daily, take notes, ask for assistance and guidance when needed, and study. I took her Summer 1 of 2012 & considering chem is my worst subject I passed with a "B". She is an outstanding instructor who is very helpful.
I never took Chemistry before taking this course, but I received an excellent grade due to the instructor's willingness to explain the material thoroughly, my developed study habits, and mainly taking advantage of the tutoring and study groups in the learning lab. She is well worth taking and you will be glad that you did!
Best Chem teacher ever, would highly recommend her class! She is extremely fair, Stick to what she says and your guarenteed to pass.
Awesome Teacher, I dreaded chem prior to her, i didn't really think i'd do so well, but her grading methods are cool. She gives 3 in class exams & 3 take-homes, and only lab reports due every week. I highly recommend taking advantage of the learning lab/tutoring though. She goes a bit quickly in her lectures.
She gave a well outlined syllabus and was an excellent teacher.
very straight forward. very nice professor, but tutoring is a must.
She's an amazing professor and I would recommend her to anyone. The way she teaches isn't like any other professor, she pin points to you on what you should be studying/practicing for your quiz/exams. Do your homework, it's a must because the homework helps with the quiz/exam. I know it's cliché to say this but study! and you will get an A.
MADE HARD SUBJECT EASY! NO TEXT BOOK,EVERYTHING ON POWERPOINTS.NO DOUBT SHE KNOWS CHEM. LAB BOOK REPORTS WERE TEDIOUS. GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR. TURN OFF YOUR CELL BEFORE GOING INTO THE CLASS, AND SAFETY GLASSES ARE A MUST!!
Got an A in her class. She is the best. She gives extra credit. No reason someone should get less than a B. No papers or anything else just test. Now I am a grad from ccp and by far one of the best professors take her.
Liked her so much, I took General and Biochemistry w/ her. A real gem: rigorous but fair, genuinely cares about her students, doesn't hand out free points to artificially inflate the grade book. Takes office hours seriously, REALLY warm & helpful. Go to lecture, take good notes, do the homework & reading, and you'll get the grade AND the material.
Lectures are a bit tedious. Decent explanations, very upfront about what content and skills need to be mastered for tests. As of 2013/14, all grades come from problem sets and tests. No projects or extra credit. Very fair grading. Attendance and diligent completion of textbook problems are a must to do well in chem regardless of professor.
Great teacher, very fair grading she has a grading system where you can calculate your own grade so you know how you doing the whole semester. She's very helpful.
She is a good teacher. She explains things well and is willing to help. She tells you exactly what will be on the test. The only thing I don't like is she makes you write out lab procedures...like literally re-writing several pages of the lab book. I don't see the point of this.
I REALLY DR. WOOTEN! SHE IS AN EXCELLENT TEACHER. I LOVE HER ORA AND HER METHODS OF TEACHING IS AWESOME.
I had Dr. Tammy for the lecture portion of the class. It was pretty easy. She is pretty easy to follow.
I never end had the most amazing learning experience with Dr. Tammy. If you work hard, you will get the grade that you deserve. I learned so much and I highly recommend taking her class, but there is a lot of work you must put in. Good luck!
Great teacher, makes chem so easy. She is tough but fair. Do the work and study and you'll definitely get an A.
Great teacher. She makes sure you know your stuff before you progress to the tougher material.
her lectures she runs through, people are confused but too intimidated to ask. And the tests are tough. you never know what to expect on the exams. take w someone else!
Started off strong. However as the semester progressed I became frustrated - she was often late to class and would then spend the first 10 minutes discussing what we had discussed or what we would be discussing. As a full time professional taking the class who always made sure to be time, I would appreciate the same courtesy from the professor.
Took her for BioChem summer 1. She assigns pages to read and problems to do the night before lecture. She doesn't check them but they are helpful if you want to understand the information. She tells you exactly what you need to know. She uses mastering chemistry for her quizzes. The answers are on quizlet. Final was very intense must study!
Great professor, clear explanations, logical, info given in a way easy to remember. Pay attention, keep up with HW on mastering chem & it's an easy B. Lil effort & it's an A. Plenty of work but this is science, you'll be glad later. Useful syllabus, fair grading, extra credit. Helpful in & out of class. Take her, you will learn alot!
Professor Wooten breaks chemistry down into basic steps and teaches clearly. Preparation before class is essential, because her lectures are like reviews. Homework is done online; 5 exams (one online) and a final. Provided one chance for extra credit via online HW. Lists study topics verbally before tests. Clear & fair grader. Watch your sig figs!
Dr. Wooten is a great professor. She Makes biochem seem easy and her class is easy. However, she is almost ALWAYS late. :( If that doesn't bother you then just read the slides and do the homework questions (which she doesn't check but helps). You should pass with an A. Exam is every MC and T/F question from exams EASY A!
Good professor. Multiple choice tests online. Must have textbook. She uses Canvass and Mastering Chemistry for HW and Quizzes. Posts grades quickly. I would take her again.
Good teacher for chemistry. She explain clearly about her test. You need to attend class to pass class and easy A.
Dr Wooten is a great professor, cares about her students and teaches very well. Her class is more like a review and you learn from reading and quizzes. Tests are easier than the online quiz. Attendance mandatory. For lab you have to write out the procedure for each lab since you can't use the lab book in lab.
Awful for intro, expects you to teach yourself. Grades work for other classes while you do practice problems and lab.
I cannot stress enough that SHE DOES NOT TEACH! you have to read the material and pray to what ever god to help you. She assigns way too much work. Just when you think you caught up and understand, you take her test and you realize just how wrong you are. Do your self the favor and dont take this class!!!!!
She doesnt teach so you have to teach yourself and she expects you to already know the material. Save yourselves and dont take her.
Oh lord this class was by far the hardest class Ive ever taken in my life and Im a SCIENCE MAJOR no study points just YouTube and what to expect on the next test. I honestly wouldnt recommend this class and to be honest this class messed up my GPA and honor roll. Her rating is sooo not honest
Expects you to know the material as she flies through teaching the materials. Always late for class. Tests are not exactly what she teaches. However, if you ask her questions and office hour she will make time and she is an easy grader. Textbook is used for every class. She takes attendance every class as well. More of teaching yourself class..
Professor gives 4 unit test. Make sure when she gives them back that you study them. Professor also gives 4 home quizzes before the unit test these are very helpful. You want to make sure you do all homework because she grades homework. Other than that her lectures are very interesting and informative. Bring your text book to each class.
I took her at Jefferson U & she was not accommodating at all. Complained all the time and refused to help because it was a lot of work. If u want a professor you can actually learn from go elsewhere. Her tests were easy compared to other chem classes but you need to teach yourself everything! If u need extra help she is not very willing go elsewher
She has an attitude problem, which she even admits to having one but doesn't bother to change. She doesn't respond to any emails ever and if you ask her anything in class be prepared to get a sarcastic tone. She doesn't care but she expects you to. I'm a 4.0 student so I put in a lot of effort anyway, but its uninspiring when you're the only one.
If you wanna ask a question be prepared for her attitude and her sarcastic tone. Only professor I've ever had with an attitude problem. She expects you teach yourself so when you come to class its basically all review. The test are easier then other chem classes but she gives a lot of homework also, all in all 2/10 as a professor
Great online course , but her attitude is not the best. I believe if her course was not online this summer , I would have a received a lower grade. She is not helpful at all and her feedback regarding the course and coursework is not the best. She made negative comments regarding how lucky we are that her course is online this summer .
Dr. Wooten was my first chem professor, and I don't think I'll meet a better one. She is way too smart to be teaching low level material, but she makes herself accessable and is supportive. Gives chances for extra credit on exams. Talks about her family sometimes during class and is generally warm. She'll treat you how you treat her.
The "attitude problem" that many students refer to is probably because she gets annoyed that students refuse to participate in an online format - understandably! Prepare appropriately for Q&A style lectures and you'll succeed. Personally, I highly respect her and find her course to be extremely well laid out & conducive to learning. Love her!
Dr. Tammy will help you understand chemistry. She is amazing at breaking down a topic and explain the concept to better understand the math and procedures involved. She never made me feel stupid like other professors have in the past. She is compassionate and loves chemistry. Take her for every chem class if you can!
Chemistry is Chemistry you learn laws and they build upon one another. If you want a professor that can explain chemistry to you so that you will understand it PLEASE take Dr. Tammy! She is devoted to her students' success. She will take time to help out of class until you understand everything. She gives clear grading and what she expects of you.
There's no substitute for a teacher who respects their students and that's what you're getting with Dr. Tammy Wooten. I had to really work to get through this course, but generally got as much out as I put in and sometimes got much more.
I took this class as a summer course 6-7 weeks. lecture was prerecorded and was not helpful during the lectures she would always correct herself. if it's been awhile since she took chemistry dn take it. she does not let you make up any assignments or give extra credit. One thing for certain she was def responds but does not answer your questions :(
I understand things are different for an online course, however relying entirely on prerecorded lectures that barely show her or the problems worked on are not helpful. Overall lazy set up to the course imo, not engaging. She even lacked some prep for zoom sessions where were supposed to get help. Even though I managed, I expected better.
She is too lazy, do not like to help her student , she is always late to show up for her Zoom hours. I will not recommend her to any one.
Do your homework, listen to lectures and study. Yo
Oh my gosh, this professor is too tough for her own good. We were told that her office hours are not for her to reexplain or reteach any past material. Basically if you didn't get it in class that's on you. Which is completely unfair to those of us who learn slower than our counterparts. And defeats the purpose of office hours.
Had her for lab, she's not really a tough grader when it comes to reports, though I heard some bad things about her as a lecturer. You do need the manual, but she ends up changing the directions to some experiments, sometimes they can be confusing. She doesn't seem passionate, just doing her job. Wouldn't take for lecture if had better options.
Lab and lecture: Wooten isn't really passionate about teaching. She once blew up at a student for asking too many "stupid" questions. I think she just hates when people don't catch on as fast as she's putting stuff down. Assigns lots of homework, which can be annoying. As long as you understand the formulas, you'll be fine. Use practice questions!
chem itself is so boring and she teaches too fast.
Dr. Wooten was great! I highly recommend taking one of her courses. Yes, the lectures are long but it's a lot of material to cover. Yes, she does give a lot of homework between lecture and lab. If you pay attention and do the work on time you will do just fine. She even gives a week grace period to turn in late assignments.
All the Chem professors at CCP are high quality in my opinion. Dr. Tammy knows what she is doing. Expect to read ahead and put in the time to complete her assignments which are designed to help you master chemistry. I am grateful for her as I feel she has prepared me for harder professors. She will challenge your listening and study skills.
Great professor, she knows her subject very well. Canvas was well organized, and she gave proper notice for any changes to the schedule. Lectures were informative and covered the material well. She does not accept late quizes, but gives a 1 week late period for labs, with a 10% penalty. Drops the lowest of 5 exams, and the lowest of 11 labs.
She teaches quickly, but doing homework and quizzes helps. She is happy to answer questions during the lecture. She provides an exact checklist for exams, so studying the concepts is key. Show your work for partial credit (even if you get the question wrong). A top tip is to read and take notes on the chapter before going to lecture. Good luck.
