The class is incredibly boring but also very easy. Its all powerpoint and videos. At times it is interesting, but mostly not. But you can tell she really loves political science.

easy if you aren't a lazy moron. all you have to do is pay attention to her slides in class, do the EASY weekly assignments (takes like 15 mins per week) and do decently on the tests. she is really nice, and i skipped so many days, also gives extra credit and she let me. very cool, i got an A with very little work. even let me turn in stuff late.

Great professor! Explains the matter very well and involves you in the matter. There are a lot of homerwork but not outrageous. There are 2 test: multiple choice and the about 15 small assingmnents. No term papper. If you go to class and do the assingments, there is no reason why you should get less than a B. I would defently take this prof again.

Great class. Fairly simple if you pay attention. It's not boring in any way and is more like a class discussion than a lecture. She gives a couple of tests and media journals, which are just reporting on tv shows. Sometimes we have class outside, which is a nice break from the monotony of the classroom. She's very sweet and energeric! Take it!

Fairly easy class and the teacher is bouncy and fun. Media Journals are simple, but a little time consuming and there are only two tests - mid term and exam. Class participation is important, but she's easy going and will help you out. She never makes you feel stupid.

I hated politics and political science all throughout high school, but once I took Mrs Young's class, my ENTIRE veiw of the class and politics has changed. She is a lovery professor. She has only two tests and five journals. for test study just the terms and you will make an A. She is an awsome teacher. very easy to make an A. no homework nothing.

POLS 1101 is a class all Georgia Freshman HAVE to take. Since you have to take this class then at least learn something by taking this teacher! She's GREAT! She very good for ENSL. Her classes are fun. She gives a lot of research paper and pays a lot of attention for sentence structure, but for in class writing she doesn’t take points of for grammar mistakes. The book written on very hard language, but her explanation is very good. If you attend all classes and study from the lecture you will be fine.

Highly recommended. One of the better teachers I have had. Does not let her political views get in the way, a rarity in a college setting. Professor Young is NOT an easy A class. In order to earn the A, you have do all the trips that she requires every week and the essays. Spring 08. Professor Young is an EXCELLENT ONLINE instructor. The ONLY ONE I had, who went through the trouble of setting up actual lectures so you feel like you're in a classroom! She is a great teacher. The one negative comment that was made about her on this site is not true at all. Every discussion I have had online so far in this Hybrid class was influenced by a lot of people with democratic views. Each week I took the opposite position of those people and still got the highest grade possible. I think she is very fair.

Best on-line course I have ever had. She had powerpoints and Chapter chats. There was something about her voice that made me pay attention and really feel like I was in class I had a very busy summer with other classes but really enjoyed and learnt a lot in this class. This class was an AWESOME class. TOY is definitely all about our success. She gives extra credit to those that need it and if you do the TRIPS early and do a good job you should make an A. Her discussions are online which helps when you dont attend class. Tests are online but it's 80 questions, 80 minutes. She's a good teacher but she's passionate in her field and it is clearly shown at times. She does a pointless project for the entire year but overall it's an okay class.

She will make you know this class by giving lots of material and homework, but that helps for the finals. It was hard at the beginning, but now I love this class.

I took political science 1101 online with ms. young. The course work is straight forward there is 7 trips which can be researched online and there is aplia(lots of reading and filling in) which will prepare you for the quizzes. easy class just do not miss any of the discussion questions major part of your grade. TOY is great; as long as you do your weekly assignments in APLIA and discussions called Trips you're good. You definitely know which way she leans politically, but she is very fair. There are 2 exams and 1 final during the course that are multiple choice and pretty easy as long as you've read the chapter or have your book with you. I recommend her!

I've never liked politics much, but Professor Ortgies-Young did her best to make the class fun, and she succeeded at that. Her teaching style seemed strange at first. In hindsight though, it was much more effective than a lecture; for example, she had us do skits to act out the first ten amendments. She offers lots of extra credit opportunities.

Great Class!! I'm in the last week of this class just have to take the final. This class is self explanatory, she lets you do most of the work in advance if you want to. I enjoyed this class and she responds back fairly quickly to emails. She also gives out extra credit.

Professor Ortgies-Young is a passionate teacher of Global Issues. She is very informed and really understands what is going on in the world. Along with class lectures, you learn through weekly online discussion posts. For these assignments you post about an area of global affairs and respond to the posts of others. I learned a lot in this course.

What a wonderful professor! This has been my favorite class thus far. She makes learning about the American Government interesting! She gave a lot of extra credit and the book was free. Did have to put in work, but it was nothing too bad. If you try you get an A- easy! She really cares about her students.

I really enjoy this class. The only problem was the test. Professor Young would give you little time to complete a 80 question test. I would recommend taking her class if you want to pass. Final exam was based off of previous quizzes. Young also gives extra credit too!!!!

I took this class last semester as a hybrid. We had 2 tests and 3 quizzes that were all easy if you studied. There are weekly discussions that took about an hour a week and she often gave us the freedom to write about what interested us. I would recommend taking her as a professor, she's very understanding. Mindtap is the easiest thing ever. Very knowledgeable and friendly. She encourages extra curricular clubs and class participation.

One of the most fun, informative classes I've taken. She really knows what she's talking about and during class we would discuss political news. The rest of the time we reviewed over units we had to cover that week, she posts lectures online, quizzes/tests online, field trip opportunities (not required). I learned a lot about a global perspective and it was cool to chat with a political scientist about what's going on in American politics and the impact on global issues. 2 projects required--fun and easy. Take the opportunity to go to the Conference and present a poster. Boom!

Follow her schedule but be sure to turn things in early. Response to posts MATTER!! She gives several extra options (do them)! 8 discussion posts (300-500 words) 2 tests 1 major 2 page paper Complete Mindtap (its a lot) but its a very easy major grade

She was a great teacher with an even better personality. I hope everyone loves her like I did. I actually took both political sciences and I loved both of them. She has one discussion board a week and the tests are all online except one proctored. I love her!!!!!!!!

Took her for online POLS1101, Loved her, just read the textbook, do her discussion assignments like she says and you'll do fine. Gave good feedback and was super responsive

One of the best Professor that I had In GPC. A lot of extra credit. It helps me to get A in the class. Took two class both get A. All you have to do is follow what she said, Her test or exam is not too hard. Sure A if you put a little effort.

Very good professor. I took her online. She has pre-recorded lectures as well as a PowerPoint outlines for each chapter to read each week. You will have assignments to complete in Mindtap and online group discussions that are referred to as trips that are due each week. Very easy. Just read as you listen to her lectures and you should do fine.

3 tests. The first test is proctored, but it is easy only 15 questions. The second is also easy. Study the lecture notes and you'll be okay. DO THE DISCUSSION POSTS ON TIME!! The paper is 4 pages and it can be easy if you start on it early. I took her online class and it was smooth sailing. She lays everything out perfectly.

Very easy A! Course is straight to the point. Do the discussion boards, Mindtap homework and papers and you'll for sure pass. The discussion boards do require that you apply yourself but it's nothing you won't be able to handle. I would recommend taking her class for sure!

Love, Love, love this professor and not because she graded easy but she really pushes you in this class. You will learn to enjoy writing if you never thought is was you strong point. Her discussion posts are very interesting and she gives extra credit. Just follow syllabus and submit everything on time and you will pass.

Took her PERS 2001 class. About environment. Really into it. If you care about the planet and climate change, this class will get you a good grade. You do have to read, but its reasonable.

Took Am Gov during 2020 Elections. Made class more interesting. Cool prof. Fast on response. Helpful

This class should double as English Composition & American Government credits. Excessive amounts of writing, discussions, replies, papers, textbook reading, quizzes, exams, impromptu papers, current affairs papers, extra credit (optional).... daily log in.... endless. Plan on just doing that. Great feedback also to emphasis shortcoming. Tough.

It's clear from this course that Prof. Young cares deeply about the subject matter & her enthusiasm is infectious. The online class is incredibly discussion heavy and it's important to participate in these. If you do the work, submit on time, and read the book, you're guaranteed to do well. It's not HARD work, but it is SOmE work (which is OKAY!)

I am taking professor Young Class for this summer 21" online. You will be giving all of your assignments ahead so no excuses. I have completed at least eight essays. She wants to see every student do well. I highly recommend Professor Young and I am a freshman as well

I was so scared to take the class after reading the negative reviews. I had her online, and she was amazing. Material is relatively the same every week: complete the discussion post and to read the textbook chapter and finish the test questions. Extra credit is offered and the Professor is passionate and considerate to her students.

Fun class - especially with all that is going on in news. Must buy the book/code, but little quizzes help for tests. quick response on email to q's. I liked her recorded talks, nice prof. cares about your success.

Professor Young is one of the best professors for online. I was surprised to see all the bad reviews about her because her class is very easy. She also gives very clear instructions and replies to emails within about a day. Sometimes the discussions may take a while but they're very easy. As long as you put in some effort you will be good.

My number one choice for this class. It was an easy class, and the teacher cares about your performance and gives good feedback.

Good teacher, I took it online so you just read the material and answer the questions and/or complete whatever necessary. Good thing was that Prof Tamra did super well was that each week there was a slide of her going over that weeks work and those were super useful to.

This Global Class was cool to learn about the world. Prof Young was helpful and funny. I liked this class alot and will take another with her. She's understanding and has pretty easy assignments. There's plenty of work to do, but I got an A. No problem. She's the one to pick!

This class is easy if you put in the effort. You have to do the reading or you will not pass the homework assignments. One discussion per week, but you have a lot of time to get your work done. The professor is helpful and responds quickly to emails.

I took Am Gov online with prof young. She was organized and the class was easy to follow. She gives helpful feedback and tips in her weekly announcements. Good prof!

Am Govt class with Pro Young went well. She's fast on email and gives lots of announcement reminders. Everything is weekly so lots of time to do the assignments. The discussions were cool. Better than the usual online topics. She's big on sources and talks about misinformation in the news. Excellent Prof!

Easy class. Discussion post due every friday and reply to students by sunday however she is a tough grader when it comes to replying to students on discussion post.

Bit of a heavy workload. Discussions require research but are very informative. History isn't my best or favorite subject, but I enjoyed this class. Little snarky in emails. Offers extra credit. Grades strictly. The weekly homeworks on Cengage are pretty easy compared to the discussions. I would take this class again bc of how much I learned.

Online exams (final & midterm) which are super super easy. Questions come directly from the study guides. Do mind tap assignments weekly. The only reason I am giving this a 2 in difficulty is because the weekly discussions take a long time to complete and comment on. Be respectful on emails and she will be respectful back. Never seen her being rude

POLS1101 with Professor Ortgies-Young is a manageable course with an engaging curriculum. The weekly discussions can be time-consuming, but are worthwhile. Using resources like unstuckstudy alongside the textbook helps make the workload more manageable. Overall, an informative class worth taking.

Quizzes were hard for me at the start, then I noticed that they were the same questions in the textbook review and it got easier, but tests were still hard. Harsh grader, counted 10 points off when I forgot to put spaces in between paragraphs; it was only 300 words. But I never made that mistake again, and got decent grades. Only 1 required paper.

Very easy class and you will learn about. Discussions are very engaging and interesting. Exams are easy but worth a lot. She uses cengage which is very expensive so wouldn't take if money is easy. But assignments are easy. Allows re-takes and make-up if you ask. Overall, great professor, i would recommend.

She does a great job giving feedback on weekly discussion posts to keep your scores as high as possible

The work we normally received every week was simple MCQs and discussion posts. While she is a somewhat strict grader and very particular about deadlines, if you follow the instructions, you'll always receive a high grade. She would respond to me quickly when I needed some help. Overall, she's a great teacher and I recommend her.

I took her American Gov class in Spring 2024. She was very organized and it was easy to figure out what to do. It was my first online class but she helped me when I had q's. Very quick on email. Enjoyed the class. Got interested in the news from this class. Good prof.

Took her for a dual enrollment minimester. By far, I enjoyed her class a lot! The only time consuming thing about this course is the weekly discussion posts that take around an hour at max if you lock in and an occasional mini module on some real life skills that are valuable to learn.
