Excellent teacher!

The best math teacher I've ever had! Good at explaining what can be a difficult subject for some, and she's always willing to help.

I would have gotten an A in the class, but I didn't do about half the HW. She even gives study guides for the tests. If you don't pass with at least a B, its your fault. Tamsen is an excellent teacher. Her instructions are clear, she's available and understanding of prior commitments. She doesn't accept late work, but she does accept work the same day until 5 pm.

Not a good teacher. You cant miss class cuz she will not pass you. I missed twice and had notes and she gave me a B. when i did all the homework and got high test scored!...Duke sun is a lot better! homework all the time and doesnt care about your personal life..not understanding!!

Great teacher, explains problems well and if you don't understand it she is very approachable. The class i'm taking is Mon-Fri and VERY fast paced with homework everyday. I only wish the class was longer than 50 minutes because their is so much to learn and time flies when your doing math. Altogether a good class, I like the teacher alot.

Great teacher. She is friendly and approachable. The tests cover exactly what she covers in class and in the homework. You will know exactly what she expects of you taking this course. This is my favorite class this semester.

I'm horrible at math, but I received a B in Ms.Herrick's class. She taught in a way so that everyone could understand. There was a lot of homework, but it was relatively easy with no pressure. The tests were also pretty easy. Just show up to class so that you do not get behind. Other than that, I'd recommend her to anyone.

Tamsen is the absolute BEST math teacher ever!I have ADD & dyslexia and have never been able to grasp math whatsoever. This teacher changed all that. She has young children of her own, so has a unique ability to teach in a way that ANYONE can understand. She is patient, kind, and loves math in such a way that shines through. Attend class every day!

One of the best math teachers i have had at Butte. shes really good at making sure everyone understands, and her lectures are pretty easy if you pay attention.

Great teacher! She allowed test corrections on all of the test, except the final of course. It definitely helped my grade. She also offers some extra credit. I didn't think the homework load was very bad. She's really helpful and very nice.

Mrs. Herrick is the best math teacher I've ever had! She explains everything very well and always answers questions thoroughly. She has such a great attitude and always is very upbeat so it helps the class get through the math. I would recommend her if math is not your favorite subject because she will stay after class or meet with you one on one.

She is very nice, and she helps you out half the class is just going over the stuff you learned the day before. A very easy class. The books are not needed we only got ours because we needed the key code to do it online. If you dont like using computers dont take the class, the computer is very picky about answers.

Tamsen is amazing! The best Math teacher ever! She makes everything clear and is very very helpful. I tried staying closer to home and got a Math teacher that sucks! Next semester I am going to take her class even though it's a longer drive, Tamsen is definitely worth it! Take her class!

she is amazing!!! i had her my first semster and college when i still hated the thought off math. she makes it FUN i never thought i would be able to do so great in a math class. she is always willing to answer any and all questions will help after class and as long as you come to class and do the work you will get an A TAKE HER YOU WONT BE SORRY!

Truly a great women. A mother type who never puts you on the spot and treats you as an equal. The class is hard but you get to use an index card with anything you want to put on it for tests. Ms. Herrick is patient w/ students and very good at teaching math. Do all homework and you will pass for sure.

Absolutely, positively the best teacher on campus. I wouldn't take any other math teacher. I wish she taught all my classes. Take her class and you will not regret it. Tamsen is an awesome instructor. She will go out of her way to help you. I received a "D" in the Spring 2012 and took it again this summer. She is so helpful she told me when I go onto Math 108 she would help me if I have questions. Since she will be at the Main all of fall 2012 and Im taking at Chico Center

GREAT TEACHER! she is absolutely wonderful. She doesn't make you feel stupid for asking questions. She makes everything extremely clear, and teaches in a way that makes you feel like you really have a grasp on math. I have always HATED math. And now I am finally understanding it. I held a strong A in this class. She is an amazing instructor.

She is beyond the best, she cares for her students and want them to succeed, she is very clear on her work, I would recommend her, she is an ANGEL.

She is extremely slow and goes through every problem very slow. She doesn't load you with a lot of problems. She understands students don't need to do the same type of problem over and over.

Best teacher at Butte College!!!! She explains every single problem in so many ways TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR EACH STUDENT. I took this class spring 2013 but got an F and never thought I would be able to pass any math class in my life until I took math 217 (again)this last summer 2013 with Tamsen and got a "B" with her SHES JUST AMAZING!!

Awesome teacher!

She really cares about the students. Her test are easy and she don't put fractions and decimals because she actually want you to pass! As long as you get the concept that's all shes worried about. She even extended our HW due date for spring break so we could relax! If that's not a teacher who cares i don't know what is. Take her! Her kind is rare!

Tamsen is LITERALLY the best professor I have ever had. I am awful at math and she has helped me immensely. If you need extra help with math I would especially recommend taking her class. She is patient, has great tips for remembering things, and her class schedule as far as lessons, tests, etc. is perfect. Also she is an angel.

Tamsen loves her job and it shows through her teaching. She is extremely helpful and answers questions. She will explain things in different ways to better help you understand. Participation is big and tests are huge. She gives reviews for each exam and goes over it in class. You get to use 3x5 cards for exams. She's super helpful! I recommend her!

I'm currently taking her class and Tamsen is a wonderful teacher! I was dreading taking a math class because Its my weakest subject, but she's there to explain it until you understand it. She also makes me feel comfortable enough to ask questions. The way she explains the problems is very ideal! Very helpful! I highly recommend this teacher!

math can be really difficult to some student however this professor takes the time to explain in a way that the student gets it and if you dont than she will start to give you more feed back also she always teaches you the math the way it suppose to be but she always shows you shortcuts. also being in class in necessary so you dont fall behind.

One of the best professors at Butte College! Her lectures and teaching style is so clear and understandable, it'll make you like math. I passed with an A. Her exams format are basically like her study guides format. She lets you use a 3x5 card on exams which is awesome. Do your work, show up to class, and you will pass. Take her.

Great instructor. Helps you in anyway and she wants you to pass. You work with her and if you have questions she takes the time to help you understand.

Her process is clear, simple, and well executed. Get to class, learn a chapter or two with lots of examples to help you work through the problem, and done. You are given a sheet with all your assignments, other than in class homework, so you can do them if you miss or know exactly what you missed. Definitely should attend class if you can though.

I took this class during the summer. I showed up everyday and did the homework that was assigned. I suck at math and I managed to get a B. If I got a B I am sure you will pass the class for you math strugglers (like myself). If you have questions make sure you ask because she is more than willing to help. I definitely recommend her.

I've always struggled with math, and TBH I didn't think I was even ready to take M 124. However she is so helpful. Clear on expectations and gives us a lot of time to ask her questions between lectures and do homework (Sum '14).This teacher made me realize I am actually REALLY good at math. Show up, be dedicated, ask questions! Great teacher!!!

Tamsen is amazing! She is very patient with her students, wants them to succeed and meet their full math potential! Tamsen gives detailed lecture notes and explains the concepts very well by using analogies to help students understand. She's great if math isn't your strong suit! Positive class setting, would take again!

Coming from someone who skipped many classes over the semester, show up! Due to missed lectures, I did not pass the class because I missed vital information. This teacher wants you to do well and is more than happy to guide you to the best of her ability. Lectures are structured and she's very open to clarifying information for the students!

Hands down one of the best math teachers I've ever had. Bright, cheery, weirdly enthusiastic for math, her quirky analogies are actually extremely helpful. Textbook is needed for online HW, but she teaches the content better than the book in her lectures. HW is plentiful, but not that tough. Amazing instructor!

I took her summer trig class (my first college class), I was impressed by the amount of questions she was able to answer for me. Don't be afraid to ask questions because they seem to stupid, she always knew what I was trying to explain even if she worked out the problem out with me. she does give a lot of homework but it was also a 6 week course.

Probably best math teacher I've had. Took a 6 week class with her and it was all very doable. I would say she grades very nicely if you put in real effort.

Very enthusiastic and thorough. Hard to imagine her without a positive attitude. Text book is required to access homework but you won't be using it beyond that. She teaches everything you need to know in the lecture.

I've had her for MATH4 & Statistics and she has always been amazing! She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. She is super helpful. Speaks clearly and lectures at a steady pace. There are 4 non-cumulative tests and you can use a 3x5 notecard on the test. She gives a super helpful study guide. I would definitely recommend her!

Tamsen Herrick is Math... impressive teaching abilities. Her lectures are well organized and thorough. She is patient with questions and has the ability to breakdown the equation in a variety of way. If you are not confident in math she is the teacher for you. That was me and I received all As including STATS!!

She is a very easy going and caring teacher, very understanding of student situations and easy to work with. Gives many chances and I passed because she gave me so many chances and was willing to help when help was wanted. I am just not a strong test taker.

If you have struggled with stats at all take Tamsens class. While it is still a challenging class if you're not great at stats like me, you will learn a lot. I never though I would pass stats and so far this class has been a piece of cake. Definitely recommend!

She is super nice and actually cares about you. She has office hours and will just sit and work through the homework with you if that's how you learn best. She is the best math teacher I have ever had, she made math interesting and showed how it actually applied to the world. 100% recommend.

Lectures are well thought-out/step by step, simple classwork/notes. Most of the grade comes from the exams and I had multiple major family stressors throughout the semester I took her. She was very gracious to help me figure out to get my grade up so I could pass! I'm really grateful for her kindness, understanding and appreciate her empathy.100/10

Made a fast-paced summer class very manageable with course planning. Video lectures were helpful and supplemented by the textbook. She was very caring and made sure to remind the class about assignments that were due and test dates.

The class is tough especially if you're not good at math, but this professor is so sweet and provides lecture videos and notes. She thoroughly explains the concepts so if you work hard and study you'll pass :)

Highly reccomend Tamsen for any Math class. She gives very clear and detailed lectures and is always ready to help when a student needs it. She is very kind and you can tell she cares a lot about her students. Coming to class and doing your homework is important for this class but I really enjoyed her class this semester and totally reccomend her!

Tamsen was an amazing teacher. Her class is very structured and straight forward. If you are struggling she is very willing to help her students. For all tests we would have a review day which showed you exactly what to expect on the test. I would recommend showing up to class for the notes or the class could be challenging.

I took a Summer Math 20 Trig class with this instructor, and I would not recommend it. The course consisted of about 120 example videos (not including the My Math Lab videos), around 60 homework assignments (each taking 1-2 hours), and 6 exams (no practice exams provided) in just 6 weeks. Make sure you have enough time to devote to it.

I can actually understand algebra now because of her! Ive always struggled with math but her care for students and easy to understand lectures made it easy. Tests are worth a lot, 70% of grade, but she gives practice exams before each test and they are basically identical to the exam, so as long as you look at that youll be okay.

She shows thoughtfulness towards her students and clearly explains the concepts during class. She has a cheery demeanor and moves efficiently through the lesson without a ton of unnecessary commentary, which I appreciate. I would love to take another course with Tamsin!

Prof. Tamsen is one of the best professors I have ever had. I took MATH13 with her after not taking a math for a while and she made it so easy. Her notes are great and she does so much review with you. Tests are taken straight from the homework. She is an incredible human all together. Taking her for future math courses and looking forward to it.

Professor Herrick was my first introduction to college during the fall of 2024 semester. I could not have had a better experience with her class, especially as someone who is not confident in math. Prof Herrick responds very fast to questions outside of class, and is very understanding with schedule conflicts. I strongly recommend her class.

Tamsen is my favorite math professor I had. She made stats very understandable and actually had us use calculators and taught us how to. Exams and homework are online and you can take exams twice. Definitely recommend taking her class if you struggle with math, she makes it understandable.
